    Expensive patch for madden 18. Defensive line got a freshen up but everything else remains the same. Franchise has been neglected and in dire need of reboot.

Franchise mode is just a copy and paste. I played a game with the Ravens and the Commentators call Marquise “Hollywood” Brown Antonio Brown. Madden can’t even get that right. This is essentially what Madden is now, a yearly roster update that still has inexcusable bugs and zero updates to its modes. Apart from the updates to the cash cow that is MUT. This is horrible.     Broken and unpolished. Extreme let down in various areas, especially the face of the franchise mode. To top it off, a cheesy, gimmicky, pay to customize, Yard game mode is just disrespectful.

    most of the time if someone would ask me what I thought about a bad game I would at least give it a 1. I think releasing a game is in itself impressive. That's not the case today. This game has no right to exsit and is not worth the price. EA is a criminal organisation and Madden 21 is the burglar trying to steal people's money.

    I thought fallout 76 was buggy, but madden NFL 21 makes fallout 76 look like it's a polished game. Do not buy this game, play literally any game that isn't an EA Sports game

    All I can say is I'm so dissatisfied. I will credit "the yard," as it's fun to play. But there are more glitches than last year, and the graphics are so similar compared to last year.

    This seems more like a blatant cash grab than a real game. Try harder EA. If not for fans, for yourself. Have some pride in your products

    Borderline fraudulent advertising by EA Sports. Big selling points in their trailer either aren't in the game or are broken features. Same unfixed bugs and glitches since madden 19. Had friends who didn't receive their pre-order bonus content that they paid $100 for and then were told by EA Help that they were SOL. Doesn't come anywhere close to replicating simulation football.

    Recycled game, Essentially the same Madden we've gotten for the past 5 years. Hardly any improvements to Franchise mode or animations over the last 5 years. Performance doesn't effect Draft stock in the Story Mode, so that game mode is pointless and again, a recycled version of years past.

To top it all off EA is so worried about losing money on this game they put in Kaep as a pub stunt to get people to buy the game and he's rated higher than Cam Newton. This is the first madden I've bought in 10 years and only bc I'm a ravens fan, and spending $60 on madden in 10 years already feels like an enormous waste. Game's buggy, glitchy, and scripted. If you want a true football experience, play NFL 2K5 or even Madden 05.     Absolute dumpster fire. Fixed QB throwing animation and nerfed OP linebackering bugs only to provide another series of in game issues. They must not have a mathematician on staff because even Atari programmers understood simple concepts like vectoring. This game is nothing more than meta exploits and micro transactions. I would be embarrassed to be a part of the design team for this game

    I recommend spending your day at your local zoo volunteering to scoop up elephant feces, then renting a wood chipper from Home Depot, place it in your living room & load it up, then try playing Madden 21 while the chipper ejaculates elephant **** all over you and your house. It will improve your experience massively.

    Franchise: Having never played a current-gen madden before this, I can't speak on how little its changed. However, I can say that it is a bare-bones mode. The loading times are too long, the trade logic is illogical I can't see the team's opinion on a trade    I played this because of the free weekend. That is still going on, almost 2 weeks later.     Gameplay: Its the same crap gameplay, with better graphics. No coin toss or officials on the field.
    If you want a good franchise, get Axis Football or Retro Bowl, and if you want the best overall game in terms of gameplay, depth and customization, get Maximum Football.    … Expand

Those are exclusive to the Yard. AI still bad in every aspect. Players still run out of bounds when making a catch near the sidelines. Players stand still in zone coverage. Offensive line still broken & doesn’t block correctly. Devs doing streams looking at Marcus Peters (A CORNERBACK) punting and adjusting his punt rating instead fixing the actual broken things is a absolute joke. Why are you going car shopping for rims when the car has no engine. NHL, a game that is probably 5 or 6 times smaller, does everything better & actually does updates to other game modes that don’t have micro transactions in them.     Madden 21 is the only Madden game to date where you can throw a pass to a wide open receiver and the game will find a way to ensure that the receiver drops the ball and ends up in the defenders hands for an interception. Worst Madden of all time. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Stop adding **** like Spongebob which I still can't find a single person who asked for.     As someone who has little interest in ultimate team or any kind of online play and solely plays these games versus the PC in franchise mode I can say this is a solid pass from me. These are merely patch notes from madden 20. I'll stick with madden 20 until EA shows me something worth buying. PASS!

The gameplay is too heavily dictated by broken animations, terrible AI, and downright flawed game logic. For anyone that enjoys playing QB in franchise mode, don't bother.    Honestly, I love football, and I wanted to give this game a chance.

    It's not just a lack of innovation - we've come to expect that from EA sports games. The game is actually getting progressively WORSE every year. The gameplay is too heavily dictated by broken animations, terrible AI, and downright flawed game logic.

    For anyone that enjoys playing QB in franchise mode, don't bother. For some odd reason, simple things like having the ability to go for it on 4th down is removed, which is downright irritating when you're 4th and 1, down a TD in the 4th quarter on the 50 yrd line, and the AI will instead simulate a missed FG. AI ballsecurity is also an absolute joke after the catch, regardless of who you're throwing to.

    Don't play MUT myself, but like all years based on gameplay I've watched it looks like a blatant cash grab dominated by broken plays that are rerun repeatedly.

    Honestly, as someone who has a pretty high tolerance for Madden BS, this game pained me as a 10+ year vet of the franchise. I dream of the day that the exclusivity license ends for what is now a downright trash franchise .    … Expand

    Definitely the worst madden I’ve ever played. The mechanics are awful. The gameplay is horrendous. It’s damn near impossible to stop the computer on All-Madden difficulty if they have a QB that runs the ball. (Which is a lot of QB’s that wouldn’t run the ball a lot) I will give them one thing though, they did fix the insured amount of face mask penalties from madden 20. But that’s it.Definitely the worst madden I’ve ever played. The mechanics are awful. The gameplay is horrendous. It’s damn near impossible to stop the computer on All-Madden difficulty if they have a QB that runs the ball. That and in a game which heavily features a mobile QB like Lamar Jackson, they probably should have left QB contain as a presnap line adjustment for your defense. I honestly enjoyed last years madden a lit more, as ushering a fast LB could overcome a lot of the AI flaws on defense.     EA needs to change their game on the most fundamental level. Franchise mode has long been ignored, FOTF is predictable and poorly acted/written, and even a whacky fun mode like the yard can't change the buggy, scripted football game EA releases year after year.

I throw 8 tds and win a Naty, but this dummy Red O'Brien gives the guy with a heart condition the starting job? Everything is scripted and anything you do is useless. BTW everyone gets drafted by the Bears if you choose to be drafted by a random team.

    THE YARD - It's ok. It was fun for a while. But why was this needed? Gameplay isn't perfect, Franchise hasn't gotten updates since fall of the Soviet Union, and I think this mode was made just because 2K was making an arcade type game.

    Overall, this game sucks. **** you EA. The game is super buggy. The game sucks. The people who defend this game probably really stupid. I'd rather play the NBA 2k games, which have more microtransactions but the game is overall better.

    In the only nfl sim football game on the market (due to shady, anti-consumer, anti-competition business practices), the game has only a single sim game mode, EA added 0 new features to that mode, while simultaneously focusing most of their resources on adding ANOTHER arcade game mode (filled with micro-transactions designed to manipulate and prey on the psychology of children of course) which also became the main selling point for the game. That my friends, is some Twilight Zone levels of absurdity.

    Oh and i forgot to mention, they added the worst career mode in the history of sports video games with a story that, quite literally, might be the most poorly written piece of fiction in the entire history of mankind.     MUT is EA's big moneymaker and yet they have botched the launch already with many of their loyal fans reporting MUT's servers kicking them off whenever they open a pack or not even receiving their players they pre-ordered. For something EA has shown a large amount of care towards, even putting what is basically ads in your game telling you to play MUT, is absolutely broken.

    The Yard is a good idea on paper and if this was executed better I would be saying praises of it, but like I said earlier, first-person-shooter engine. The game mode, of course, has micro-transactions within it for gear and equipment for your avatar. The biggest slap in the face is the mouthguards, which EA has repeatably said they "Don't have enough resources for". It is only available in the yard with some of them behind a paywall.

    Face of Franchise has the most bogged down, cheesy, nonsensical story out there. Not to mention that bad gameplay. Seriously, even if you get 700 yards as QB in the College National Championship, a guy with a HEART DEFECT still gets your starting job forcing you to change positions to be a Wide Receiver or a Running Back or entering the Draft. The storylines are a nice change, but some make absolutely no sense. Sometimes, I wish we had Madden 18 Longshot back, at least the story was half good.

    Superstar K.O. is back, cool I guess? (Obligatory first-person-shooter engine reference) It's not bad, but EA decided to spend their time doing this instead of fixing the gameplay or Franchise mode, making this more of a waste than actual fun.

    Oh boy, Franchise mode. How do I even start? Franchise Mode is the bread and butter of many Madden games from the PS2-PS3 era and as a former Madden 06 fan, it's an absolute shame to see what EA has done to it. If you get a hashtag like #FixMaddenFranchise number 1 in the country during a time of civil unrest and protests on Twitter, You done screwed up. EA basically "added" what is equivalent to patch notes only because they had to due to the new playoff system that the NFL. Most likely if the new playoff system didn't pass, the only thing they would of changed would be adding the new X-Factor players and UI. Franchise Mode used to be the main source of income due to it's dynamic and fun gameplay, but the discovery of MUT ruined this once great mode. It's barely been updated since Madden 13, the relocation teams are the same since Madden 25, and the only new thing they added would be customizable draft classes, but scouting is the same, boring, drab, annoying thing that it is despite this update.

    Gameplay you might ask? Don't get started on the gameplay, just watch any of RyanMoody21, SoftDrinkSports, or even RBT's videos on the gameplay for an explanation. My main gripe with the gameplay was instead of fixing the excess fumbling by mobile QBs (i.e. Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen) from Madden 20, they added the most cheese X-Factor "Truzz" which while it is active you cannot fumble. Instead of fixing the issue, they just slapped an X-Factor on it and called it good despite the fact that there are still Russell Wilson and Josh Allen-type QBs out there that are fumbling like nobody's business. QB's sliding is to prevent injury, not to prevent fumbling. Even the horrid commentators comment on this by saying "He's going to get an A++ on that play for sliding, protecting himself" (They say that line about 20 times per game) X-Factors shouldn't be just cheese like not being able to fumble or get intercepted. It should be an increased level of play, which is why Blitz Radar and Pro Reads are my favorites because they aren't overall overpowered, but aren't complete freebies like Gambler or Truzz either.

    This is not good football, and if you keep spending money buying the game/micro-transactions within the game, EA will not have any incentive to actually fix their game. All we can do now is hope that 2K actually makes a good game in the meantime.    … Expand

The lack of a AAA competior in the football space sells this game. The game being good, has not sold this game in some time. I buy this game because I love the NFL and I love football. The game is not tuned for single player games. However even in multiplayer you cant user everyone. Matthews literally enters the draft the same year as you even though you left college early when they named him the starter. Defeating the purpose of you entering the draft early. They deliberately left the other positions unavailable to play as because they want us to by the next game when they add defensive positions (blatant corruption).

    Under create a player. Faces 3 and 8, under skin tone 7 have been identical and in the same position since madden 17. Like WTF

    FRANCHISE MODE
    Has been virtually left untouched AGAIN.

    THE YARD
    Got boring very quickly. They somehow managed to add mouthpieces and other gear in the yard but not the rest of the game. I'm not sure how that happens.

    GAMEPLAY

    This game is only a patch of Madden 20 and is going for full price. Franchise is horrible, no coaching carousels which is present in Nba2k series and MLB THE SHOW (idk about other games), commentary is very repetitive and boring, with the other sports games surpassing madden easily in this category. Franchise still has no career stats tracker showing teams, which is unacceptable in my opinion. While I enjoy online heavy modes in games, MUT is an awful mode meant to milk fans. MUT is a basically a pay-to-win card trading game with RESETS every release, which makes this mode simply cash grab. If your cards stayed with you, maybe MUT would be decent, but that fact alone ruins MUT. FOTF is still glorified connected franchise, with slight improvements, but still no where near as in depth as Road To The Show or Nba2k. KO and The Yard are nice additons and decent side modes, but the bad gameplay makes nether mode worth playing. These two modes are simply in the game to give an appearance of change. Madden 06-12, was more in depth than this game is, and this game is released as the last current-gen madden before next-gen. Madden 12 was released during 360/ps3 days. This game is really a sad story of how what was once a household name for football and a must have game in the 2000's has gone to a dumpster fire. EA doesn't care about this game or the fans, but us, the longtime fans continue to criticize in the hopes of reliving the glory days of madden. EA has abandoned the community that gave rise to a golden age 2005-2009 for a community of youth and causal sports fans who have yet to realize what playing Madden 2006 on ps2 was like. There was once a day where you could create whatever team you wished for, built a team off of realistic gameplay and good trade logic, and when bored, mini camp mode existed for both player progression and for fun. The days of being good at football are long-gone, with the days of cheese and overly gimmicky and poorly tuned gameplay.    … Expand

    One of the worst madden games I’ve ever played this is so disappointing I hope they see these messages and improve but I have already deleted the game and this is the last time ill ever buy madden until they make a change. Early access and I couldn’t even load it up im fed up

    It’s a 3. I’m only giving it that because of the yard, even though some of the challenges don't even work and the game freezes you sometimes when you play online. It’s the same gameplay with a dead leg animation added to the game. The lack of innovation is inexcusable for a million dollar company.

    The gameplay, the menus, the announcing, it’s all the same but yet somehow worse. The UI is slower than I’ve ever interacted with, players missing assignments on the field, blocking is atrocious. Avoid this game at any cost you can, if it’s in the bargain bin for $5 I say it’s fine, other than that save your hard earned money.

    - Not many changes in gameplay ugh glitchy as hell. So many glitches it's almost unplayable. Framerate drops are frequent really hindering gameplay. Animation based movement is more noticeable than ever creating a slu of unrealistic blocking, running, catching and tackling sequences making the game seem scripted. Slant plays still to easy as the user. New running cuts create a fast feel but look bad and akward not blending with the gameplay. Horrible presentation, no on field refs, lifeless sidelines no cheerleaders or fan interactions. Cut scenes are all over the place i still dont understand showing
    the actual game gameplay before the game even starts. Commentary is the same loud and overbearing repetitive nonsense that doesn't fit the flow of the game. The new YARD mode is shallow overall. If your expexting a NFL Street type experience you way off, as the yard is strictly arcade you don't pick your players or team it does it automatically ugh.     Stay away from EA games. They are greedy and are not gamers. This is a real user by the way. Good old times when Madden and NBA has all the players and you can unlock Everything with just playing a complete game. Again. Stay away from EA games. Thanks

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
