This product doesn’t come close to resembling anything that you might see on your TV set on Sunday. The game isn’t even pay to win anymore as micro transactions are so expensive and offer so little return that players will put themselves in debt trying to field a good MUT team. The lack of care or effort of any kind on electronic art’s part is disrespectful to their consumers not only do they not care about their product, but they do not care about you the buyer. They understand that their time with this exclusive license is limited and so they are trying to milk every last penny out of their players while they still can. There is a distinct lack of effort and enthusiasm and it is a mockery to the NFL. Want my advice? Boycott this game and give it as much negative publicity as possible. Maybe the nfl will take notice and save their image. I rather doubt it. Hoping for sunnier days ahead in the world of sports gaming.… Expand

    Awful, has been awful, still is awful, we need a new company making this game. It is the exact same performance for the last 4 years and only a few minor tweaks have been made to askew us away from this bad product EA feeds us every year. Not to mention the gambling microtransaction ridden ultimate team mode is a sorry excuse for a title main staple. Embarrassing

    Fix the terrible, gameplay-breaking bugs that repeat every year. Maybe use a more appropriate game engine than Frostbite?
    Add crossplay. It’s 2020.
    Remove the endless grinding and money grubbing. You shouldn’t have to pay more to play, after you’ve already paid for the game.
    Just in general- care more about how the game plays, not just how it looks.

    Terrible game. Another half ass effort by EA. Just give up the license already let 2k and other companies take a crack at it. Unfortunately Madden is no longer the super fun game it used to be, it's just a buggy ass trash game with once again no improvements.

    Basically the same game as madden 20, with a fresh coat of paint on it. The Yard seems like it's fine but the pride and joy of the game seems to be Madden Ultimate Team (MUT). The mode, that still costs $60 to access because you still have to buy the game, is targeted towards children to spend a bunch of their parents money on free to play game mechanics that is extremely pay to win. And even if you pay thousands of dollars for the best team,which very well might be a conservative estimate, in a few months new cards will be released that make what you had before irrelevant, or the next madden comes out and makes everything obsolete again, requiring you to buy the game again and spend more money to get a good team again, starting from scratch. Franchise mode saw almost no changes. All they did was a roster update and made the new playoff system to be accurate to real life. If that's the mode you're buying it for, stick to madden 20 or go back to madden 08 or something like that. Overall, if you are buying madden 21 for franchise mode, don't bother. If you are buying it for MUT, i question your financial choices, but it's the same thing every year so go for it. If you've been playing it for years you know what your getting into. If you are playing the game for superstar KO and The yard, i'd rate the game a bit higher. They are arcade like modes and from my understanding, they are not pay to win. You can pay for cosmetics in the yard only as far as i'm aware. If those modes are all you're interested in, and you're really interested in them, you can justify buying the game and treat all the other modes as a bonus. I know the overall score I posted this is a 0 because i am a huge fan of franchise mode and think MUT is a waste of money, but if you want the arcade like game modes and that's what you're buying it for i would give it either a 5/10 or a 6/10. The arcade modes are fine but not great. I know there are a ton of reviews and since this one is overall negative it will get buried in the vast sea of negative reviews, but i hope at least someone finds this review helpful. I skipped madden 19 and got 20' and was disappointed in my decision last year that I won't be buying a madden game for a LONG TIME until they fix the issues and actually innovate . Clint Oldenburg has to go also . Hes a embarrassment to not only madden but the NFL itself.     Black screens everywhere, can’t play 2 consecutive games of the yard without black screen. Animations are so bad. NFL 2k5 over head catches look better then madden 21. Blocking is horrible

The only difference is the game play has become unplayable because of its dependency on animations.     The game is becoming copy and paste year in year out, the last real great football game was NCAA 14 the way the players ran and how they looked, hit / Juke move animations were way better and not the exact same like the newer maddens, go back and make a game animation wise to NCAA 14 and add newer stuff we will all be happy...

However, to EA's credit they do provide a fastpass of sorts to skip the grind and get your customizable "moss" uniform you've been waiting years for...but at a fair price of $9.99. For the sake of clarity, when I referenced the "moss" uniform, I wasn't referring to a uniform inspired by arguably one of the best wide receivers to play the game, Randy Moss, but instead it was inspired by the non-vascular plants that typically form dense green clumps or mats, often in damp or shady locations. In short, this is a terrible attempt at making a simulation football game especially when you consider that the "Franchise" mode has seen very little changes, let alone improvements since the start of frostbite engine iterations. This trend of the studio forcing gambling and mobile game mechanics in order gain additional revenue streams seems lucrative for them but as a long time fan, the attempts to manipulate its user base to spend more has become acutely grating and blatantly disrespectful. Unfortunately, the majority of the user base is susceptible to these tactics and this paradigm will not change until they no longer hold the exclusivity license from the NFL, thus allowing competition, or government regulation is enacted that protects consumers from unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices, an example is the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to reform financial practices. I hate that it would have to take a monumental change just for the slight chance that the gameplay from NCAA 2012 may come back in some form, whether it be Madden or not, and the chances of that happening is causing me existential dread. I'd happily part ways with my hard-earned money for that game but in the case of Madden 21, I'd recommend to hold on to yours and wait for Cyberpunk 2077.… Expand

    The gameplay is also laughably broken with wild glitches that have existed in the game for years with no one fixing them. Unfortunately, there is no option for a simulation experience for the NFL as EA has completely failed at simulation football with games like ESPN NFL 2k5 and Allpro footballs 2k8 vastly superior games from more than a decade ago. It's truly sad that this generation of gamers will never have a quality NFL simulation game.    … Expand

    This game is absolutely terrible!! No redeeming qualities at all. Worst Madden game to date. Face of the franchise QB1 stats are all 96 and above, scrambler archetype and I get rundown From behind for a loss by defensive lineman 9 out of 10. Just pure garbage.

    It's plagued by bugs, the Ai is some of the worst I've ever seen in a sports game, the monetization is like always pure and utter scamming, and even the developers don't give a **** anymore! My advice avoid this game like the plague it so clearly is!!

I just simply do not know how to rate it when taking into consideration that this game franchise is far behind other sports games. What is worse is that they don’t seem to care. The game pretty much abandoned its Connected Franchise Mode and basically copies and pastes the mode from previous years. I just simply do not know how to rate it when taking into consideration that this game franchise is far behind other sports games. What is worse is that they don’t seem to care. The game pretty much abandoned its Connected Franchise Mode and basically copies and pastes the mode from previous years. The mode is missing a real Off-Season, Free Agent Periods where you can pursuit teams (maybe incorporating a player Agent), and many more things. On top of that the games released with many typos or errors when it came to Logos and player pictures, which just looked unprofessional. Now we get to the hard stuff, we’re still sold a game with terrible animations, and game mechanics. The tackling pursuit angles are just not there, the ball in the air pursuit is barely decent, the blocking assignments are not well executed, and the tackling is a bit iffy but not a huge concern because it at least looks pretty accurate. But honestly the hard things to incorporate are not even what disappoints me the most. It’s all the easy stuff they can incorporate that upsets me and leads this community to believe that they’re not being heard.… Expand

I never liked Madden as I felt much of it was a rip off of NCAA Football (you know the copy and paste developing that's synonymous with Madden) and even continued playing NCAA 14 well after.     EA needs to separate Ultimate Team into a free to play model and have another development team handle the franchise mode as a full priced game.     This game is a blatant cash grab with no new content or worthwhile features. Shame on EA for introducing addictive gambling to young children. They can call it card packs all they want but it is clearly gambling.

    Flaming hot garbage. This was supposed to be “next gen” but the only next gen feature was a new wave of micro transactions. Even a revamped (and slightly better) face of the franchise cannot save this horrendous money grab. Stick with madden 20, it’s slightly better.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
