    If you sit down to play for 3 hours, you will get kicked off the servers several times, allowing you only 1 hour and 30 minutes of gameplay in that 3 hours, if you have good internet. Their servers are absolutely atrocious. There is no sugar coating it. Don’t even get me started on the gameplay when you finally can keep a server connection. Franchise is a joke, worse than Madden 06 in terms of customization, immersion and statistics.     That's it. I'm going to stop playing EA games. This game is a disaster. This is not a game, it's a free update with 60 dollars price tag. EA needs to stop doing this. I can't believe, once my beloved franchise can be so greedy and unrespectful of their fanbase, their customers.

    You get a zero because of double jeopardy.

EA also has the exclusive rights for simulation NFL games for the next 6 years (this game is anything but simulation) so don't expect EA to start caring anytime soon.     Unoriginal game. Gameplay is nearly identical to previous years Madden 20. New modes feel like an extension of the cash grab that is MUT. And Madden is yet again entirely overlooking franchise mode. Very rough for diehard fans, difficulty to fathom a purchase, even if discounted.

    EA has outdone themselves yet again. Year to year I love playing squads with friends but this year they have out done themselves making it near impossible to play. For one after each game you need to recreate your lobby because for whatever reason the lobby glitches out, then if you get into a game you cant run shotgun or else your QB will bug out and not allow any user input. It is deeper, mechanically more sound, and somehow an overall better game than this atrocity. Other than that... this game is complete **** The offensive line still looks clueless, WR/DB matchups are far from realistic, DB wins in 50/50 ball situations 90 % of the time, players warping through each other is STILL a problem, and just general football knowledge is thrown out the window. Players play zone like they are actually in a bubble, you pass receivers off to the other zones, not **** sit there and watch the guy catch the ball. WR’s suck at route running unless you have one of those abilities. Bugs- Since the 25th my game has crashed 7 times... 7 more times than all of last year. The amount of bugs in this game is un**** real, there are too many to describe. Ultimate team- Mut is still the mode full of endless micro transactions, yet I still play it because it’s the only mode worth playing, because it’s the only mode EA cares about. Franchise- literally the same as last year. My mom walked in on me playing madden 21 and asked, no **** “why are you still playing madden 20. I replied “no clue.” Franchise is the DEFINITION of copy and paste. They use the wrong SUPER BOWL LOGO, I mean it’s just the most viewed event in live TV history, which the record is broken even year by the next super bowl, anyway, I’ve never heard of a company taking stuff OUT of something and make MORE money. At this point madden franchise has become a roster update. It has been dubbed a roster update for years but it was truly a roster update. No need to go into franchise bugs and stuff like trade logic because it’s the same as last year.

If I caught someone calling me a “Heartbreak kid” I would jump off the ledge of the Grand Canyon. They force you into playing games so you HAVE to win so you can give a damn trophy to your dick of a friend In the hospital. NBA 2k 13 had a career mode than this.     The FOTF storyline is simply an insult to fans who were looking forward to the next iteration of this game mode. Also, the functionality/interface that was created for it was completely uninspired. This was a very disappointing experience.     It's a challenge to find any redeeming aspects of this game. For people interested in purchasing the game I say save your money and just go with Madden20 will a roster update if you're really getting the itch for some Football.

They have not added a single new addition to the Madden 20 franchise mode. All they did was update the menu, you still have the stupid text messages from your coordinators and players. I do want to know what idiots are in charge of franchise mode in madden. Genuinely EA if you need help improving Franchise mode hit me up cause I have ideas leaking out of my ears cause I have so many, yet your company apparently sat there for a whole year and managed to come up with the world class decision to change the menu colour scheme. In franchise mode rosters become irrelevant after 1 year anyway. I still play NCAA March Madness 10, NCAA Football 14 and still get tons of fun out of those games. Madden 21 yard is childishly boring and Face Of the Franchise is basically franchise mode with a storyline why waste time with that mode when we really want Regular Franchise mode and we use are minds creativity to create storylines for our coach. Just put what we want in franchise mode and trust me our minds will have our own narrative.… Expand

    Wasted time by playing the early access version. Glitches in early access are a given but, the fact there are no substance added besides the yard which isn’t horrible but it’s built on micro transactions and nothing else. I’ll play madden 2015 it has more features.

    I wish this game could get negative ratings. Its just not good. It's buggier than ever. Its slow. The Franchise mode is just dead. Nobody likes it. Its just not fun anymore. Its no surprise that people are finally speaking up about how sorry this game is and I'm glad that's its trending but EA won't respond. They never do.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a bad game which, given how deep we are into things simply should not be. This isn't a 'simulation football game' in any way. It's just a glorified cash grab by EA to take advantage of those who really don't know any better and love to kill money on card packs for Madden Ultimate Team. The game is mostly unchanged from last year's, apart from The Yard which I care to the sum of zero about. They hit you with that the second you boot up. I've been a Franchise Guy since way back when. It's what got me hooked to the game in the 00s and it's a big reason why I like so many others, are fed up with the hollowed out thing in front of us. This simply isn't worth even half the price tag they're asking for. It's just not. You can only resign players after Week 3 of the regular season which isn't even close to how it's done in real life. This was done better in the PS2 days, most notably Maddens 04-10. There's no discernible team logic by the CPU when it comes to drafting or free agency. The game has the worst stat tracking of any game out there, even worse than its PS2 counterparts and given that we're literally a year away from the first ones dropping on PS5, that's a very bad thing.

    As a gamer, Madden has been a part of my life for just about 30 years. I remember playing the very first Madden on Sega Genesis and playing it every year since. After Madden NFL 12, it was clear that EA was done with Franchise because they were all in with MUT and getting every dollar possible from that. In doing this, EA has cast aside a larger number of people who made that cash grab possible by buying the pre MUT Maddens and investing time into Franchise Mode.

    Relocation has gone untouched and while the UI has the best coat of paint ever, that's IT. It's insulting to me that it took EA this long to address what we've known for years now. That Franchise Mode is on blocks and needs major work. Yet even after giving a list of things they wanna do this year and moving forward, none of that was present at the jump. Not ONE. Superstar KO literally came out of the blue last year after Madden 20 dropped. This company has created 2 new modes before even pretending that they're interested in fixing ONE.

    Gameplay is still atrocious for a wannabe simulation football game. The game froze at odd points which led to me missing at least two kicks. This is unacceptable for a digital download. This is nothing more than a Copy & Paste of 20, with a decent number of updates & patches. Especially when you consider how many of these all but broke Franchise Mode (more like Season Mode since it's nowhere near Franchise Mode from its golden age from 04-12).

    21 to me, kickstarted what I've come to call Electronic Skim Milk age with the advent of Superstar X-Factor. See, EA somehow lost the ability of conveying the really great players in the game from the really good ones so they put this in. X-Factors bring Madden kicking & screaming into the Arcade realm, as badly as EA tries to keep it grounded in simulation yet fails miserably doing so. It's very noticeable especially when it comes to those edge rushers who are all but unguardable once their X-Factor's triggered. The cover guy can't fumble once his is triggered, which again, just defies all logic & is yet another sign of how much EA has truly lost it. Commentary isn't much to write home about & has gone off the cliff since they let Nantz & Simms walk. Which as irony would have it, is right about when presentation dropped off completely. With each passing year, Madden NFL 25 looks better because of how much worse these subsequent releases are.

    Madden NFL 21 is a terrible game. Not really sure it can be put any better than that really. It's the soul snatching low point for anyone who like me, loved Franchise Mode & finds this game virtually unplayable because of the piss poor gameplay on top of the most barebones Season Mode out there. Of all the major sports games, to me, Madden's the worst of them all.    … Expand

    The biggest update in the game is that the screen is blue. That is not an exaggeration. If I sign a player in Franchise mode, I can't even see where he played at before me. The amount of loss details in this game is astonishing and frankly the team that creates/works on this game in any fashion should be utterly embarrassed. #FixFranchiseMode

    I know you've seen a lot of 0/10 reviews, but EA (or any other person for that matter) if you are for some reason seeing this, I’m going to try and be as critical as possible without being mean. The gameplay is super repetitive and you can see the same animations 8+ times per game, and they are the same animations from past Maddens, making it more repetitive. Your players will catch, get tackled, hurdle, get their ankles shattered, intercept passes, tightrope the sidelines, toe tap the sidelines, fall over, look like n64 characters on the sidelines, get stiff armed, block/block shed, and to be honest, do everything in the same exact way multiple times per game. The animations are not even close to real football, which would be ok if it was an arcade football game... It isn't. The animation based gameplay would be ok if there were many animations for certain player positions and scenarios... Not only "there aren't" but it would be super unrealistic to take the time to make all those animations. Which makes you wonder... why they decided to make the game with the Frostbite engine, with animation dependent gameplay in the first place. Another problem with the gameplay is that with it being animation based, there is no player "stick skill" or anything along those lines, because the entire game revolves around hoping you get the right animation. Jump balls are just saying "Wow I hope that corner grows 2 left feet and gets a bad animation" instead of something along the lines of "Wow I hope my 99 overall player has better hands than this 9th string JV corner". I shouldn't have to hope on animations when stick skill is a selling point. Players standing still can shake of a hit stick from a linebacker sprinting full tilt at them. The pass trajectory is awful, every pass is just a glorified bullet pass, I’m not sure why making the ball travel in a parabola is difficult, but (believe it or not) I don't design video games so I don't know. Linebackers no longer have a 9' 13" vertical when intercepting passes, which is a good change, but an unnecessary change if the pass trajectory had more of an arc instead of a laser. This poor gameplay would be ok if the depth of franchise and other modes made up for it... They don't (I’m starting to notice a trend here) EA has many ways to fix their game and either won't/can't for whatever reason, which would be ok if they told us the reason... THEY DON'T! We can't be understanding because they won't share anything for us to understand... Sheesh. I’m not a franchise guy but there are enough franchise guys that I think everyone understand the point. The #FixMaddenFranchise has been going around and what we got was potential patch notes that will probably never happen. The last thing I’m going to touch on is the NFL exclusive licensing. This is just a monopoly, thats it. This monopoly would be ok if Madden was an ok game... It isn't. Its just a bad product, there is no way around that. That would be ok if Madden was a bad product if there were other potentially better simulation NFL football games on the market... (You guessed it) There aren't because of the exclusive rights. The exclusive rights also makes this NFL fans only option, and thats not ok. The yard is cool I guess, but its monetized for no reason, Face of the Franchise isn't interesting and is dull. The two positives this game has is that its the only NFL game, and that The Yard is "cool i guess". Now I’m going to go buy All Pro Football 2K8 for $5 instead of this $60 "product". And Clint Oldenburg, if you're reading this, 2 is better than 1, but 0.4 is somehow worse than 1, this is a sign, READ THE FREAKING SIGN... sorry, if you for some ungodly reason, you read this, have a cookie... You could probably count on two hands the amount of "overhauls" they have done in the past 5 years with no expansion on creating teams, relocations, draft classes, scouting, coaching and coaching carousel, the list can go on and on.

    I try to be a positive person and refrain from complaining but I took the time this busy Monday to say this is honestly garbage and can't say I'd recommend this to anyone who is on the fence about updating from 20 to 21 or even any of the last 3 years of Madden installments to 21. A pure and utter waste of money by cash grab EA that once again shows they only care about making a profit rather than the opinions of football players and fans alike.

I can't even tell you how many PATs I've missed due to the thing glitching when the kick meter is moving. Computer is also constantly running into the kicker.     By far the WORST Madden I’ve ever played, so my question is why does EA Sports still have the exclusive license? The NFL felt 2K Sports undervalued the NFL by selling NFL 2K5 for $19.99 back in 2004, but EA is undervaluing the NFL and it’s consumers by putting out an atrocious product. #NFLdropEA

Even if they stopped buying the game EA wouldn't change their behaviour as they make more money on microtransaction (child gambling in the form ofadden packs) than they do from game sales themselves. And they of course being EA care about nothing else. The child pandering becomes more obvious when you look at their newest game mode "the yard". It is a ridiculous abomination of football that is so obviously an attempt to please hypebeasts that it makes simulation football players sick to their stomachs. Not that EA did a bad job on it. , Rather they clearly shifted priority to a mode that doesn't reflect what their product should be. It is supposed to be simulation football, but it's clear this arcade version should be what EA sticks to after they give up their exclusive license. Neither of the game modes made me stick to it, as I haven´t felt any changes in the game.     Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
