    No updates to franchise mode unless you like a new color scheme. NCAA 14 has a deeper game on PS3. The gameplay is improved from Madden 19 and slightly updated from 20. Other than that it’s embarrassing how little effort is put into the “simulation” aspect of this football game. Where they put the effort in is face of the franchise and in about an hour i was over it.

    Complete rip off. Did they literally copy and paste the same code from Madden 20? It sure seems so since you can find Madden 20 graphical assets still in the game. The physics are horrible, and unrealistic. Lots of missing features. It's a shame football fans have no other choice.     Honestly i am so disappointed in EA. The lack of self awareness and just obvious greed is disgusting. I'm glad the players feel the same way to. Its a copy and paste game with horrible bugs that 19 didn't even have. No integrity whatsoever.

    This game is quite literally a lazy copy of last years iteration, they didn't even have the decency of removing the logo.

    Now I wouldn't be so angry if the additions were released as a DLC, but unfortunately the greed in this one is strong... How dare they think that this is worth another 60€.     as an indie developer I can say with absolute certainty that I would not protect this dumpster fire of a game if I had been forced to work on it. I know it was probably the EA executives that ruined it, but that is no reason for you to call people that have been giving you feedback over the past 2 decades clowns.

    That is just a disgraceful attitude and I cannot agree with it at all.

I rented this game to see if i could get a NFL version of "The Show" which is an amazing baseball series with massive customization, numerous amazing modes, but yes.. way too much microtransactions. You can play without them, they're mostly cosmetic or for shortcuts....
    Madden however, it's a micro trans engine. It feels like a mobile game. Graphically it's bad for a 2020 title. Models look nothing like the players. Coach Rhule from Carolina looks like a demon wearing a skin suit. It's horrible. Controls are bad. Snap into a quick pass, my reciever catches it and gets stuck in the turf... okay. Snap, running play, CMC teleports through both lines and gets a free TD. Try playing Ultimate mode, and unless you want to drop a ton of money into fake card packs with bad drops, forget being competitive. It's pay to win. Numerous instances of Madden 2020 logos and animation issues. It's just inexcusable, lazy. The character customization is just bad. All face models look like broken noses, have the developers ever seen a human? Mass Effect 1 on Xbox decade and change ago was better than this. Godfather on PC 20 years ago was better than this.

    MLB The Show has yearly updates, huge chunks of the game change year to year. Madden just sticks the new year stick on everything. I'm glad I checked in after 10 years, I won't be checking back in for 10 more.    … Expand

    This game is utter dog crap, Never have I ever played a game so bad it almost made me puke, I immediately got myself a refund, If your smart just keep playing madden 20 it's pretty bad too but at least it's playable.     Stay away from Madden! Madden has been terrible for years. This is the last straw EA doesn't care about they’re customers. And specifically this game is the exact same game from the year before, only difference is one new game mode. Which is subpar and attempt to be like 2k it seems.

    Same crap as last year, hell as pointed out by others, each year we lose less and less features which should be part of this simulation. I miss the good old days when we had 989 Sports and 2K Sports also making NFL games. Get this out of my radar, now I remember why I skipped the last 3 years.

    The game is way too cartoony and doesn’t resemble real football at all. Stretch zones and inside zones are OP and users don’t even have to throw the ball to have success.

I am a football player and a loyal gamer and have been a madden player since the age of 6 (1994) this is by far the most insulting version of the game yet. The franchise lacks detail and options to say the least. The gameplay is ugly, the physics are way off. I feel drunk playing this game. The animations are sloppy and the Ai has somehow gotten worse. I downloaded the trial through EA Play and I don't know what I expected. This franchise has been the same series for 5 whole years. I'm tired. I'm not doing this anymore.     Some good but one very bad glitch. About every 10 plays the screen goes white while the play is still going. I can’t see my players due to this. Never had this before. This occurs in franchise mode.

    Let me start by saying that I really liked Madden 20 I thought it was a good step in the right direction for EA, although it didn’t fix franchise mode it had a lot of neat additions like Superstar KO and Face of the Franchise which let you play as a college team. Everything is almost an exact copy and paste with new rosters. Franchise is still worse than Madden NFL 04 which came out 17 years ago. The only new thing they added was The Yard. I was very excited for this game mode, but it was a huge disappointment. It just feels like a worse version of Superstar KO. Speaking of Superstar KO it is exactly the same except that it added one new team to play as. Franchise, Exhibition, and MUT are also all exactly the same. Face of the Franchise is almost the same except they replaced the college teams from last year with new ones and this year it starts in the high school playoffs. The narrative is exactly the same that you come off the bench and know one knows who you are and win the game. The only difference is that it starts in High School instead of College. It added a lot of quality of life improvements and the presentation and gameplay feels a lot smoother but none of that justifies the $60 price tag when all of this should have been a free update for Madden 20. I also think that the main menu is worse than the one in Madden 20 I hate they way all the logos blend in with each other in that awful font when in Madden 20 all the game mode logos looked unique. This game doesn’t even have an opening sequence like past maddens. (Like how in Madden 20 when you first boot up the game you play the Pro Bowl) Instead when you first boot up Madden 21 you design your character for The Yard. This is extremely disappointing. So if you were thinking about picking this game up I’d recommend buying Madden 20, waiting a couple weeks for it to go on sale, or buying it used on Ebay in a couple months.… Expand

    The most unplayable madden I’ve ever experienced and I’ve played every single one since ‘06. They continue to ignore what the fans want and have become the most money hungry branch of EA. You can’t have all these micro transactions AND a broken game. I usually keep madden on my system until the new one comes out, 21 was deleted 6 days after I installed. Trash as ****

Not to mention the game play is horrendous from a football stand point blockers, tacklers, coverage guys and any place you can think of the A.I does not work.     Been the same game for years. Broken AI. Players not doing what they’re supposed to be doing on certain play calls. Players going rogue and changing plays. Clear penalties not called in the passing game. This is a simulation and animation driven game that relinquishes user control to programmed animations. Do not buy this game.

    Literally play any other Madden before....I want to say....2012....before the advent of microtransactions. Play 02 to like 12 and you’ll see an amalgamation of content and features that EA so disgracefully replaced with booty ass features and an entire gambling mechanic. $60 roster update only begins to describe this game....there’s so much more wrong

    This game is absolute trash. I was up 60-12 and they made one play on a pass and the announcer said they have been a lockdown D all game. FoF stops actual animation once you get to the league, have had field with no yard markers, my FoF player photo is well....off. This is the worst madden I’ve ever played and probably won’t buy any future versions.

    For the first time this season I considered not getting Madden. I was angry about getting no changes to franchise mode. I was angry about them adding new game modes when their current gameplay sucks, and the modes they currently have are worse that sports games from the early 2010s. It belongs in a landfill, and heads should truly roll at EA for how embarrassing their game is. The real issue is that, because I love football, I still stupidly bought the game. Boredom from quarantine, and a love for football caused me to buy their game against my better judgement. I should have known not to trust them. The worst part is they think we are that stupid. They think we will keep buying their game even though it gets considerably worse. They cannot even get their game to be the same level of trash every year. How do you explain that? And you know what, I actually was as stupid as they thought. I bought the game for 60 bucks. Thank you EA for dragging me out of the darkness to realize just how mind-numbingly worthless and lazy your game really is. What is particularly remarkable about this release, however, is how completely devoid it is of any trace of soul or experimentation. Never before have a I seen a new entry stay so close to the previous one, while actually LOWERING the quality of the experience as a whole. There are so, SO many ways they could have spiced up the experience but instead we're stuck with a game that is somehow less reactive and more frustrating than ever.

    And that's not to mention all the wasted potential beyond the stale gameplay. Football offers so many opportunities to create interesting stories on and off the field. Having seen all the amazing announcements entering this next generation of consoles... it just makes me angry thinking about the kind of experience these games could offer if only they had any remaining creative spark whatsoever.     Madden has regressed significantly the past 10 years. Developers made it WAY too animation dependent (Glitchy animations I might add). They're just LAZY. Not to mention, Clint Oldenburg and Ty Stover being jackasses to fans on social media (great look guys!). Horrible game and company.

    What a disappointing game. The lack of attention to detail is so blatant when I just played an overtime game, my opponent drove down the field and kicked a FG... game over. The creators don’t even know the RL rules of the damn game

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
