Fantastic game with astounding visuals and a unique implementation of multiplayer components.

Journey is more interactive art than a game. You don't really have any real challenge and the gameplay is simplistic. It does however have an outstanding art style and soundtrack. It's brief but poignant and somehow creates and emotional impact, especially when adventuring with a random co-op player.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was on a forum where this was pretty much described as an awesome life changing experiance...wtf! Journey is okay, yes I know life is a struggle where people fade in and out and die...I didn't need a very short lame platformer to tell me that. OK so its got some nice scenery and was fun to play through once. Still decidedly average in my view. It irks me that a game like this can be rated so highly with the limited play time or value you get out of it.. Expand

Aside from reliving a few well crafted moments, there isn't much to be gained from replaying this game. The first playthrough was for the most part bemusing, it could be slow in parts but was generally enjoyable.

This game is nice way to spend an evening or two, though that may be all.

But more so than that, what really draws me back to Journey week after week is the fact that you make an emotional connection with other players. It is very relaxing to play Journey after a long work day, and to be able to help out or travel along with an anonymous companion. I've purchased triple A titles and spent close to $50 on other PS4 games before, but none of them captivated me as much as Journey did, and I still continue to play Journey even after a year of owning it. This game is horribly boring and completely pointless, it may cure your cancer and give you three more in exchange.

If games could catch diseases, AIDS is the only positive thing this game would have.

Waste of money. Stay away from this unfinished, boring abomination.

    NO SPOILER SECTION:
So this is a game in which you go on a journey of your own(no **** The graphics are simple yet interesting and beautiful, especially in some parts of the game where the reflection of the sun is shown on the sand. The game is long enough for you to get really deep into it and short enough so that you don't become bored. The mechanics are simple and really fun to play with. The story is intense even tho no one says a word. Everything is easily understandable and really beautiful and fun. The game runs smoothly and without bugs. The only and i repeat THE ONLY bug I found is that when the game got out of the cutscene my character stood up and then sat down again. And that's it. If you are thinking of buying this game I highly recommend it. You won't regret it.
    SPOILER SECTION:
So I didn't know a single thing about this game. When I saw some pictures I thought it is yet another platformer. The part that especially blew my mind was the multiplayer, I thought this was a single-player game. For first 10 minutes of multiplayer I thought that it was an NPC, and not a person. Other players move so smoothly that you won't even think that it's a person(like me). I played the game once and haven't found a troll in the game(multiplayer). Every player I played with was cooperative and fun to play with. When the final cutscene was showing all the places I felt blown away. As I was seeing all the places I past I felt like I was watching a journal of a perfect story. Something so simple just blew my mind. From graphics to multiplayer and story everything just blew my mind. I was stunned by the quality of the game and I don't know if it's just me.
    FINAL REVIEW:
JOURNEY IS A DIFFERENT TYPE OF GAME. SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE PLAYED IN ORDER TO FULLY UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S GETTING ALL THE HYPE AROUND IT. SOMETHING THAT IS JUST SO SIMPLE BUT YET SO PERFECT. UNFORTUNATELY AFTER THE FIRST PLAY, YOU CANNOT PLAY IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME FEELING. IT'S JUST THE GAME THAT IS BEST PLAYED WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE OF IT AND IN WHICH THE FIRST TIME IS THE BEST.

The unreal graphics, the beautiful soundtrack, the wonderful moments that occur in co-op and the neat narrative. It's undoubtedly one of the best experiences anyone can have this generation. The game does an incredible job at evoking emotions through the way you interact with the world and other players you may, or may not see in the game as they go on their own journey. As I progressed through the game, I found myself so in the moment all the way through and I didn't want to stop playing, and when I finally got to the end, I was almost sad that it was over. This game is the embodiment of the expression, "its about the journey, not the destination." an expression that people may or may not agree on depending on your view on life, but after playing this game, I'm sure you will believe it. there are lots of games that have gotten me to tear up a little bit out of sadness, but very few have ever got me to shed tears of joy. This game does everything it sets out to do perfectly without a single flaw in my eye. for those looking for a challenge or steller gameplay, you wont find it here. For those looking for a meaningful and unforgettable experience, play it. not to say the game play isn't good, it adds a lot to the game, very relaxing and feels very natural, but its not the reason the game is so good. The reason this game is so great is because of how well it evokes emotions with such a simple story and game mechanics, relying on its visuals and the context of the player's role within the world. If you enjoy this game as much as I do for these reason's I would highly suggest playing other games like shadow of the colossus and Ico on playstaion 2 or the ported version of these games on playstation 3. I cannot praise this game enough for being so simple and yet leaving such a huge impact on me. I don't think everyone is going to necessarily get what I got out of this game, because the enjoyment of this game is completely based on how much the game resonates with you. If the game doesn't speak to you then all your left with is the gameplay which is fun and relaxing but in itself nothing really special. This isn't really a flaw, because it is pretty clear that this game was meant to be looked at as a piece of art. Even though the Mona Lisa is undeniably one of the greatest paintings in the world, it literally means nothing to me and that's fine, if this game means nothing to you that's also fine, but you cant deny that it is one of the most beautiful games of the last generation of consoles. Yes, from the artistic point of view - it's great. Soundtrack is really good but nothing to write home about. I feel like this game would be a lot better if it wasn't that easy even towards the end. Puzzles don't really get much more difficult the longer you play and there could be a few more.

I didn't quite get it... Only try this if its free, otherwise You may be left just like me - wondering about what was that all about?

I generally like artistic games, and I did like Journey...just not as much as I thought I would. Maybe I built it up in my head too much. That being said, it is a beautiful game. The true beauty of the game comes after you beat it, when you start to think, "what was that?" I would really recommend reading what some theories on it - especially the "dying/death" one.

It's difficult to define Journey, it's so different from anything else. I can understand people who say it's overrated / boring, because it's so unique. Players who just play shooters / action action games might not enjoy this gameplay since it has absolutely nothing to do with most games. It won't provide the "adrenaline", fast paced intense action.

I do not know why, but the end didn't hit me very hard, and in fact almost felt a little anti-climactic. I was happy, but not elated. It also didn't help my play-through that the other players I came across kind of ran off and did their own things. The art style is beyond beautiful, and very appealing to the eye, and the game play is fun and simple. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Journey is well worth its $14.99 price tag. It’s extremely short, but it delivers big, believe me. The buildup to the ending is epic, and having the feeling of accomplishment after going through storms and monsters, is truly rewarding. The gameplay is so simple and easy, but it balances it well with different types of interaction with objects and creatures. You may encounter other beings making the journey alongside you, which happen to be other real players, which I found out after I completed the game. I thought it was very clever, it will even show you the PSN ID’s of those players when it’s all over. The graphics are one of the game’s strongest aspects. The details and textures in the game are simply drool-worthy. It’s a technical achievement in so many ways. It’s some of the best graphics, if not THE best graphics ever seen in a downloadable game for any console.

Overall, Journey delivers on an epic scale. The buildup getting to your final destination is exciting and once you’re there it just feels glorious, it’s very emotional to say the least. More games like this need to be made. It’s so unique, epic, beautiful and rewarding. Games like this don’t come along very often. Journey is money well spent and should be purchased immediately if you haven’t already done so. With stunning visuals, simple controls, mesmerizing set pieces and an overall one of a kind experience, Journey should be praised. This is one “journey” worth taking.

The gameplay in Journey is pretty simple, and is based on exploring the environment looking for power ups that extend your flight capabilities, which helps you traverse more efficiently. The Graphics in the game are gorgeous and some of the sights you see are mesmerizing, with great detail done with the sand/snow giving this game a polarizing look. The game was smooth as well, and I never noticed any frame-rate issues in my play through. Now the story in Journey is really what puts it together, as you go from area to area, you will unlock more of the context surrounding your "journey" to the top of the mountain, but this is very much a story that you have to piece together and perceive yourself. Once I got to the end of the story and discovered what lied atop that mountain, I felt things inside me that few video games can draw out and that is what makes this a truly special game. I felt Loneliness, wonder, curiosity, all until the end. Journey is a short game, measuring for me at about 4 hrs, but those were 4 hours that I enjoyed immensely. Definitely a must play for PS owners.

It's an amazing totally orchestrated set of songs that fit in perfectly with each level in the game. Reason 3: It makes you think. There aren't a whole lot of games that make you think out there. But this one makes you think about existence without a single word of dialogue in the game. The game's story is entirely portrayed through imagery. It's an incredibly simple and slow game, which may be a turnoff for some people, but if you give Journey a chance and take it for what it is, a journey through existence, it will make you feel things you never thought a person could feel.

This is nothing special from the original, if you already own it for PS3, just play through that copy again. This was a strange move for the company to bring when it favorably could have been a sequel to Journey. The port generation is getting old to me, polishing up a Greatest Hits game that you may buy for $19.99 or lower and charging double is just bad business. Please do what Tearaway did, we loved Tearaway, they created a sequel...If Tearaway was ported to PS4 it would have been just the same...which doesn't exactly make my wallet shoot open. Journey is a very fun, amazing visual adventure, I am not rating the original PS3 version a 5/10, this is purely the port to PS4 and graded for the reasons I listed above. Expand

The game is good. But who needed a remastered? If you want to play all PS3 game, then you have to buy the AMAZING PS3... I bought the PS4 and all I got is replaying the indies that were on the PS3... That's not cool at all..

Os Gráficos podem não ser o pico do game além do mais ele é apenas uma remasterização, mas ele ainda mostra a mesma identidade. Eu achei que a adaptação para o ps4 não poderia ser melhor para um game como esse.

So I've seen the term "walking simulator" being thrown around quite a bit primarily concerning games with minimalist game design. The thing is there are games that engage you enough with the gameplay as well as story, and this is one of the only ones that actually succeed at doing so.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is too slow of a burn to engage the players, Ether One doesn't have a good enough story and payoff to validate the memorization and constant retreading. Journey may be shorter than these and other games similar to it, but the major difference is that Journey is enticing and made my smile.

Don't believe eldumloido's review, this game was free for owners of the PS3 version.
As far as negativity surrounding the game's simplicity, a game can hold up with simplistic game design as long as it is engaging. And Journey accomplishes this: traversing the lands and telling a tale in a way that evokes a player's emotional state.

If you are a person who bases their buying decisions on how much time you play per dollar spent, this may not be the game for you. But if you're a person who buys based on quality of content per hour of gameplay, I would highly recommend Journey.

Really don't understand what all the fuzz is about. This is an extremely short (2 hours), mediocre game. There is nothing out of the ordinary here, apart from that it's heavily overrated. Disappointing.

A very interesting game. This is one of those games that critics say elevates the medium to art. I would have to agree. Journey is more of an experience.

I had forgotten just how much this game meant to me. Journey isn't a game you play to feel exhilarated, it has heart-thumping moments sure, but that's not what its all about. Then you begin to learn and master your skills, experiencing jaw droppingly gorgeous moments, the world and narrative beautifully flowing together as you endure it alone or with a companion. As a mysterious history and a dedication to your future drive you forward you must overcome darkness and master the light to progress into true salvation. Does that sound too religious, probably. But Journey doesn't have to be about that, it's about you. Enjoy the music and marvel at the relaxing gameplay. It will be worth your time. Expand

It’s a simple remaster, but it makes a work of art all the more beautiful and immersive.

It’s as much a part of the PlayStation legacy as Ico is, as Shadow Of The Colossus is. Its place in PlayStation legend goes beyond its similar presentation and taps into something more sublime, something more exhilarating.
