Graphics were amazing and the game play was really Fun. The only reasons I give it a 9 is no on-line game play and you can't swim but hey who needs to swim.

So the long wait for triple A exclusives is over... Hard to believe it's been nearly half a year since the ps4 graced our homes...six months without anything truly great...or have we? That depends on your perspective.
Killzone shadowfall is undoubtedly the best looking game on any console but suffers from lackluster campaign and a mediocre multiplayer, drive club was held back and this left us at the mercy of generic multiplatform titles and indie games.

But I digress, today we're talking about INFAMOUS SECOND SON, a game many have been looking forward to for so many reasons.
The third installment of the infamous story fast forwards us several years into Delsin Rowe, a petty criminal living in a tribal community with his newly appointed sheriff brother. Delsin becomes unwittingly embroiled into events when a convoy carrying bio terrorists is sabotaged. Cue events which leads him and his brother to a glorious looking Seattle to find a 'cure' to help the tribe and uncover a truth he never went looking for.
so was it worth the hype?
    Firstly, how does it look...
Seattle looks fantastic, it's not exactly street for street accurate but the landmarks like the space needle are there and it's about as big as New Marais in infamous 2.
There is no dynamic weather or time but that's not to say you won't see Seattle at night or in the rain. Suckerpunch have cleverly combined the time of day to coincide with Delsin's powers. I won't spoil too much but one power sees you harnessing neon, night falls and you feed off neon energy by draining signs over town. Combined with the rain it adds a fantastic little touch when it reflects off the rain soaked ground.

This time you have several sets of powers, each set is upgradable by collecting shards. This adds a nice touch but people who strictly follow the main story will miss out as you can only enjoy one set of powers at a time and it's not a choice, so enjoy, do side quests etc and really play about with your powers.
The karma system is back, good or evil, I'm playing evil right now with five stages.. From thug to infamous with each stage unlocking perks to your upgrades but also has exclusive powers depending on which side of the coin you flip... For instance, being evil will unlock a certain perk like an execution move which isn't available if playing as a good boy but dont fret, good karma has its own set to enjoy.
The missions so far have been anything other then average. Good here, kill this, destroy that. Which is pretty meh and I expected more. Whilst there are plenty of side quests I feel they could of made the main quests a bit more substantial. Every mission has been played outside, unlike gta v which puts you in the odd building or whisks you to another part of the map previously inaccessible on free mode.
It's a fun game and it's story isn't anything too exciting but enough to keep people playing. In respects, it's like an upgraded version of infamous 2. The phrase 'if it isn't broke, why fix it' leaps to mind
And yeah, it wasn't exactly broke but it did require upgrading. I feel it only made a graphical leap and not the leap I expected from say GTA IV to GTA V. It's enjoyable, the characters are warm and funny at times and it has plenty to do but it's a tad repetitive and has me looking forward to my next set of powers just to keep me interested.

If you enjoyed infamous 2,you'll easily enjoy this but don't expect anything too different except the story and your powers. It's still an open world game which truly lives up to the phrase 'open world'

The graphics are absolutely beautiful and the framerate is very solid... only a couple drops during HUGE encounters that obviously sent a lot of sh!t flying.

Likely the Piss4's best chance at competing with Titanfall over there on the Xbone uno. Except that Titanfall is on PC now so **** the Xbone 1.
This is the Piss4's best available game. Even though it looked extremely stupid at first, it was surprisingly fun.

After looking at most of the reviewers giving the game such a low score, I realized they gave most (if not every) PS4 games a 0 but Xbox One games 10...

That there is the problem with the Metacritic scoring of users. Half of the "reviews" aren't reviews. Just a bunch of fan boys. And just to try and get the game to a respectable rating, the people that actually enjoyed the game BECAUSE THEY PLAYED IT, have to give a rating of 10...which this game is not.

By now everyone that's interested in the game has seen some kind of actual game play. If it interests you go out and play the game. The game play can get repetitive but 90% of games get repetitive at some point. If you own a PS4 do yourself a favor and pick this game up. It'll keep you entertained long enough to get your $60 worth.

The Infamous series has been an equal mix of the ambitious and the pedestrian, and SS is no real exception to that. Let me splain. First off, we've got to the 3rd game in the series and the protagonist may actually have an excuse to have the parkour/free-running skills that the bike messenger of the first game was supposed to have, but not really. Just like, for example, Assassin's Creed II is to have you believe Ezio didn't need any real training to do most of what he does in AC II, then the Infamous games just get you right into the action. Second Son is light on the tutorial part as well, which is welcome, but it still has to do the whole "see, he can get around the countryside like a Tomb Raider, see?" and there is a VERY brief moment of panic from Delsin Rowe when he first gets powered up, then he quickly sees the advantage of what he's got now and cool, we can move on. What is also contrived is when and how Delsin acquires new powers and upgrades as well as blast shards, which just so happen to be the same things from the first two games, but they appear here from a totally different method. These are arbitrary game design decisions to get you powers when they want you to, but to also let you get a few powers in quick succession so you can have a good time playing the game. What I'm getting to is the game never lets you forget i'ts a game, but at the same time wants you to care about the story, the characters and immerse you in the environment. But some issues with gameplay do hinder this ambitious objective.

First off, the free running/parkour stuff is a bit loose and not as fun and smooth as the first two games for some reason. I don't remember having this much trouble getting around Empire City or New Marais. In fact, the (spoiler) neon power of just running up buildings and the smoke power of using vents almost seems like a fix for this issue as much as fun elements. Also, fighting enemies, of which the variety is low, seems awkward and hurly burly. Some enemies can launch themselves out of nowhere to slam into you and the environments are often so BUSY with civilians, cars and other detail in the background it's often hard to pick out enemies in the scrums, especially if you're paying as Good and want to not kill the peeps. Some attacks that stun enemies can help with crowd control, but again, these attacks as well as the BIG attacks you earn for karma streaks seem like solutions to problems as much as an enjoyment.

Ironically once of the biggest issues is the level of graphical detail and lighting. Quite a bit of the game takes place mid-afternoon...although since it's also an open world game, meaning you can spend dozens of hours with time basically frozen (another contrived element in Infamous rather than day/night cycles...it's an open world game, but in which certain story sections take place a certain times of day/night, which has never worked for me in this series) ...but with heavy shadows, that creates a dim, muddy palette in which some enemies are just shadows. Also, how much realism should we have in these next-gen games? I'm sure the Devs appreciate the "meh, too short, I'll wait until it's $30" stuff I've seen out there. But I'm wondering if the level of detail, which in this game is pretty shocking, I mean this game is a labor of love people, and the bar is set very high now...but I'm wondering if things like lighting and level of detail in the sense of saturation of objects isn't getting in the way of making a great video game.

All that relative nit-picking out of the way, the game is great fun, the power options, letting you choose different powers pretty much on the fly most of the time that do have some uniqueness to them, the level of immersion that is here, the interesting characters, the tagging, the voice acting, just the sheer effort that went into this game, etc. This is a great game, maybe not the "have to have PS4 now" game it wanted to be, but a success with just a few issues to keep it from being a 10 for me.

Second Son is a strong, but imperfect, PS4 debut of the Infamous franchise.

Where the series has excelled before, Infamous continues to impress, with large-scale battles between superhuman characters across beautifully detailed cities. The visuals of Second Son are surprisingly advanced from the first two Infamous games on PS3, and are arguably the best yet out of any PS4 game. The depth of the particle effects are obvious from as soon as you use your first superpower of smoke, and continue to amaze with each following superpower unlock.

The powers themselves are a mixed bag. They're fun to use in combat situations, are very visually impressive, and thematically diverse (without going into heavily spoilery content, the second elemental power you unlock is the ability to weaponize neon lights found across the city). They are not, however, particularly diverse in terms of their uses in actual gameplay, which is a minor setback that stifles the novelty of each power.

Second Son features a morality system, similar to that of games like Mass Effect, in which there are certain points in the story where you can make black-or-white choices that are explicitly good or evil, and influence the outcome of the story. This translates to gameplay as well; if you chose to be Good, you could evolve your powers to be more precise so as to non-lethally neutralize enemies, whereas if you chose to be Evil, you could gain more powerful but reckless attacks that would endanger surrounding citizens. Playing through the game twice, once with each morality path in mind, can be especially rewarding, and allows you to experience two vastly different gameplay styles and stories.

Unfortunately, Second Son's weakest link is its narrative and characters. The plot doesn't really avoid common storytelling tropes that we've all come to recognize in video games, and while the Good/Evil stories are nice in concept, they're often quite predictable. The motion/voice capture used to create the game's stunningly detailed cutscenes is impressive, and the performance of Troy Baker, playing the game's protagonist, is particularly outstanding, but the writing doesn't truly shine until the game's latter half or so. Most of the minor characters are forgettable, and tend to be of far less significance than Delsin after their debut.

    In short:
Pros - probably the best visuals out of any PS4 game; almost a complete absence of bugs/glitches; superpowers are consistently fun to play with; interesting Good/Evil dynamic.
Cons - story is rather predictable; powers aren't as diverse as they initially seem to be; any character whose name isn't Delsin Rowe and doesn't wear a beanie is forgettable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, where do I begin? There's not much negative to say about this game. Reviewers are nitpicking over the story for what? The main character of the story, Delsin, is an average skater, BMX, extreme sports, rebellious/happy-go-lucky kind of guy. You wouldn't love him. You wouldn't hate him. The story is good enough to get the player immersed into the game. The detail and graphics are sheer eye candy. The detail and shading in the lighting will definitely catch your eye. Get your hands on this game and use a "karma charged" power and you'll see exactly what I mean. The side missions get more difficult with each one completed and the enemies vary in number so the repetition factor is kept to a minimum. These are the types of games that showcase the Playstation 4's capabilities. My only problem with the game is fast traveling. There should've been more fast travel points built in and that's the only negative thing about the game. This game pushes the ps4, but not even close to it's limit. If you have 60 bucks to waste, waste it on Infamous Second Son. Expand

It truly showed off beautiful art styles and design that you will not see in many games. The story did a great job at bringing infamous back to life and I felt more connected to Delsin from his witty sarcastic charm. The bonus content in the Collectors edition which gave you brief insight to how the conduits survived was welcomed, but felt a little short and craving for more development. So let us get right to it.
    The Good:
Great story kept you looking forward to the next mission and power, unraveling what was the next step.
Beautiful graphics. Any of the people who say Titan Fall has better graphics are talking bananas to pineapples. You can't compare the two because they are on different scales.
Amazing powers, each felt unique and tailored to using in different circumstances or using whatever is readily available.
Character Development was spot on and gave you a feeling of caring for what happen's to group like you did in the other 2 games.
I personally enjoyed the fact that side missions blended together with the game allowing you to complete everything without truly realizing it.
    The bad:
The parkour jumping system seemed a little buggy and broken at times really frustrating and eventually it just seemed better to use a power to get to the top of a building.
The side missions were a little repetitive as far as what to collect how to clear areas and what not.
The Cole Legacy missions felt short and a little rushed made it hard to engage in the story when you got cut off at the knees so quickly.
Frustrating that when you absorb a power and are almost done that if you get hit you would lose everything and have to try again.

Verdict Overall a great game and really enjoyable. Will definitely help people get their fill of Infamous while waiting for a possible third game. A must buy for fans of the series and for PS4 owners.

    the negatives:
diverse side missions that effected karma in the first two games have been really stripped down to like two or three in second son, the enemy variety isn't as good as the first two games in which you had to combat multiple factions. I second son you have: the DUP, drug dealers, cops, and gangsters. The last three are no where near as dynamic to fight as the DUP, however, there are times when you are fighting the DUP plus one more two of the other groups so that makes it more interesting. My last negative has to deal with one of the powers, the last one you get ( before dlc anyway). The last power feels stripped down compaired to the others. There have even been cases of animations errors with this particular powerset. Hopefully sucker punch will improve on it with patches and even dlc.

I don't think Ive seen a game yet on next gen consoles that has this much fluidity when moving to the combat. It never stutters even when your taking on tons of people and destroying things at the same time it's consistently smooth through out. The powers are great only three of them were interesting and awesome to use. The obvious power your get at the end doesn't really compare to the other three IMO. AI is good and smart when it wants to be. Not saying the AI is bad but at times your notice the AI just sitting around trying to find you and you be somewhat close to them.
Its a good story, but not everyone will like it. It has its moments where it got interesting other times not so much. If your not trying to get all the extra stuff and want to get through the story you could beat it in about 10 to 12hours which isn't bad but could of been longer. Voice acting I will say is great and Troy Baker did a great job with his Delsin Rowe character.
There's enough replay value to keep on playing, but not as much as I would of liked it to be. If your like me trying to 100% on your first play-through with collectibles, side missions, and clearing each part of the map the replay value will start to shrink unless you sign up for the paper-trail which can give you more replay value. Overall this game is worth the purchase and you won't be disappointed with it.

Infamous Second Son is a must have for your Playstation 4. Its beautiful graphics and extremely smooth gameplay. (I won't spoil the game and will only talk about Delsin)

The main protagonist Delsin Rowe who is played by the terrific actor in Troy Baker is known to what he calls himself a "power sponge" who can absorb powers from other conduits which adds more choices as to how you can play this game in an awesome, fun and kick ass way and the colours you see from these new powers are spectacular to see and make Cole's electricity seem boring. The story does seem a tad weak but it is interesting enough to keep you intrigued and there are some good emotional moments found at the latter stages of the game.

I found the main protagonist, Delsin to be a funny and awesome character who at times can get on your nerves but overall is a great character because unlike Cole he embraces his powers (although not at first) and loves the things you can do similar to you, the player.

Moving on to the side missions on this game they have new and interesting missions not seen in previous games and though some are very cool and i loved the stencil missions which uses the controller in an awesome and new way, most do tend to get very repetitive but they are not particularly frustrating so i personally didn't mind them.

    Summary:
The brilliant and cool new powers in this game awesome and extremely fun and kept me wanting to play the game into early hours of the morning but the much more intelligent AI make this game still very challenging at times especially in the boss fights which i felt was important for balancing reasons, story is good enough for your to enjoy and invest yourself in, The new side mission are cool but somewhat repetitive, the graphics and location and something new and awesome that your eyes will have never seen before and flying round the city and beating challenging enemies with your powers and with spectacular colour has never been so fun. Overall 9/10
Negatives: (Slightly lacking story, repetitive side missions)

That being said, the "Main missions where you tracked down other conduit's were cool, and also the Origami side missions are great (although having to sign up for the paper trail website to access them was annoying).... Overall it's really a good game, especially if you focus primarily on the main portions of the story, but if you're a completionist like me, a little more variety in the side stuff would have been nice.

All the bad reviews here are a shame since this truly is a good game and much better than infamous1. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should compare this game to Titanfall. Anyone who even mentions this game in the review can automatically be discounted and labeled as an XBox fanboy. Visually this game is stunning, the powers, the town, and the animations (especially the facial ones) are all incredible. Gameplay wise the controls are smooth and responsive and Sucker Punch actually did a decent job of making use of some of the dualshock controllers unique features without making it feel too gimmicky. The additon of "hipfire" makes the combat much more fluid and helps add movement and flow to the combat. And the powers do feel unique from each other and none of them are overpowered enough to make the others obsolete. However there are some things that keep this game from being any higher than a solid 8-8.5/10. First of all, the enemy AI occasionly bugs out at close range and just stops for a bit, nothing too bad and it will probably be patched later on but still kinda detracts from the action. Second, even halfway through the game and there is still only one enemy faction which does make the fights a bit stale but this somewhat countered by the relatively diverse number of enemies in this one faction. Third, the objectives do get somewhat repetitive when you're clearing the districts but this will only bother people who want to 100% the game. Overall one of (if not the best) game on PS4 at the moment and I would highly recommend it to series veterans (like myself) or to people new to franchise that are curious. And newcomers don't worry the previous games stories don't play a huge role in this game so you can get by with just a brief summary of the game's lore. Expand

Anyway onto the game. The graphics are amazing, the frame rate is rock steady no matter what you're doing, gliding from the space needle, destroying towers, leaping into the air and smashing into the ground blowing up cars and throwing bodies around, it's all beautifully done and flows like water.

I was disappointed by the lack of karma quests and the lack of moves per power tree, but overall the game was great.

When the announced a new protaganist for the series, I was stand offish, especially when Delfin was shown to be a typical new trend hipster teenage dofus in the trailers, but he is actually quite a well drawn, likeable character with some interesting family background and traits. The secondary characters are also quite well drawn and likeable, I do miss the Zeke man and Cole, but this new direction is good.

I think that the mission repetition the nay sayers are harping on about is abit exageratted. Certainly the missions are repeatitive to an extent, (what sandbox game isn't), but they do evolve and get harder and I presonally find the side quests a nice little distraction when I wanna take a break from the story line. More importantly the side quests are completely skippable, you don't need them to progress in terms of powers or storyline and so I feel they flesh the game out more and don't really bring the game down in any way shape or form. I actually really like the spray can missions which surprised me. I looked forward to them as the art style was great and they were quite humerous (I played with good karma my first play through, but will replay for infamous karma and I will be interested to see how they play out).

The storyline was great and definitely pulled on my heart strings and got me immeresed in the new world and the lore. I would have liked to see more nods to the old series as the residents of the world don't seem to really remember Cole or his sacrafice and just kinda treat all conduits as bio terrorists, which kinda demeans all the healing and saving he did, but meh. I really enjoyed the little comic cutscenes too, glad to see they are still there, the art direction as always is great in this series, the comic booky feel adds well to the super hero lineage.

The music is quite good, plays well to the feel of the scene and the character.

The cities are wel thought out and play nicely, maybe adding some touristy stuff to the future game installments, like a sightseeing tour or something by air would add a new kind of side mission, I don't know.

Combat is fun and great, though I would like to see some more combo type systems installed in terms of stuns being used a bit more chain like, air juggling and what not, more finese and less brute force, but a great start.

I love how alot of the negative marks are pointing at no innovation, more of the same, etc. You have to remember this is a sand box sequel, with true next gen graphics and physics, near at launch, give it a break. You can't compare it to GTA 5 which was at the end of the console life and you can't compare it to Titanfall, which is FPS and based in an old engine (and this shows btw, lag and sub par graphics and physics, doesn't really blow me away). Creating storyline and crafting a believable world with lore, backstory and immersion takes time, I'm amazed at the job they've done.

Anyway if you've reach the end of this review, thanks for taking the time. I would like to take more time on it but I won't, not a bad first entry. To some it up:

    Pros

    - Great storyline, characters and lore. Interesting new world, look forward to growing it more in future installments.
-Amazing graphics, beautiful colours, great physics, first next gen feel I have had, (This includes Titanfall sorry guys).
    - Good combat and skill tree, would like to see this explored and expanded.
    - Easy to find and understand upgrading orbs and mechanics

    Cons

    - Quick travel system wasn't really that great, should have been useable from any location once unlocked. I also really miss zipping along the train lines, was kinda slow for a long time, vent system was great though.
    - Karma system - while not massively bad needs to be drawn out alot more, would like to see interactions with the city alot more too rather than the regular "WOOHOO GO, MARRY ME" type of reaction

A great game, a great new start.

I beg to differ, it's not night and day different, but it's enough for me. It feels just like what I'm used to and what I was expecting, but enough added in to give it a fresher feel.

I also thought why are people complaining about a game that stays true to what it is. Heck we're used to all these things that are always the same. People always drink the same brand of the same pop, they make a new one and you might try and like it enough, but you'll go back to what you like and know. Also applies to games, Mario games, a lot of them are generally similar, Pokemon, every one I've tried to play are actually exactly the same except for added monsters and maybe it being in colour now.

So at the end of the day, this game is a must play on the PS4. The story isn't as great as the original, but it's still good. Graphic and effects are fantastic and it plays really well. I'll come back to it again soon, have to play the evil side and on harder, and probably again some other time in the future when I want to go crazy with super powers though a city.

The streets and puddles look very good but the rest of the game to me look normal if not last gen. I think Outlast looks better. The gameplay is ok. I find myself pretty much doing the same thing over and over and that's getting into gunfights with the bad guys and some drug dealers. Nothing about this game screams next gen at all. I'm probably more disappointed I didn't just rent this game first. I'm already bored with it but I'm going to keep trying it. Karma levels don't seem to hard to upgrade. All I do is look for core relays and shoot bad guys. I don't know. This game is a 6 at best IMO. Maybe others like it but out of all the websites scores I'd say euro gamers was the closest in accurately. I've definitely seen better graphics this new gen than this game. Between this and Killzone SF I don't see why people are saying the graphics are so great. GTA 5 on ps3 looks just as good as this. Maybe I'm expecting more, I don't know. Rent before you buy. I have no idea how anyone gave this a 90 or 100 or even a 0! It's a 5-6 at best. Expand

Great graphics and gameplay, however the story is all skin and bone with no meat what so ever. The karma system has also been reduced to bare minimum and only exists for 3 karma missions to unlock karma aligned abilities.

This game is more like a reboot rather than a sequel given the change in tone which I can only imagine is to appeal to a wider audience.

It lacks multi-player, the AI has got to be a joke, I think they should of spent some time tweaking the AI considering this is suppose to be the new current gen. There is nothing innovative here. If they make a sequel to this game I sure hope they add a single Muti-player element, if they would of added one in this game I would of gave the game an 8 or 9. People who give this game a 10 are just asking for lazy developers to not give a game a multi-player element, or any sort of longevity.

I'll start by saying, I have never played the first couple of Infamous games. From what I understand, each game follows it's own protagonist so if you have not played another Infamous you won't be lost with the story.

The graphics are outstanding, each set of powers looks unique and stands out. The characters are well modeled and the motion cap is impressive although at times it does look a little odd.

The game rarely stutters, I had it slowdown during one mission about 2/3rds through the game that involves an overpass and that was about it.

The only downsides I could think of for this game are the side missions to clear out each part of Seattle are the same throughout the entire game. Raid a settlement, destroy some cameras and shoot down a lot of drones. By the time you reach the second half, you'll do these things only because you need to upgrade your powers or you're chasing trophies.

The morality system is very forced, I played through the game as a hero and you are rewarded for doing certain things during fights (not killing enemies or injuring civilians). There are also side quests that pop up on the map for helping with your karma but like the other game side quests, they are very repetitive after the first few times you do them.

I really did enjoy the game but the lack of variety in the side missions and the morality system brought me down from a 9-9.5 to an 8. Definitely recommended to anyone that is looking for a fun game to play but if it's out of your preferred genre it might be worth waiting until it goes on sale.

Immediately you start the game and are just in awe of how much detail was put into it. The water actually looks like water, the faces look every bit as impressive as Killzone Shadow Fall's (minus the horrible audio-lip sync issues that KZ:SF had) and good god...when you arrive at the destination you spend most of the game in (Hint: It's a Washington State city...)...don't even get me started on how cleverly the environmental elements are place and work with you. The particle effects...beautiful.

My ONLY complaint with the game: 3 separate occasions in the entire game (not too shabby) I watched civilians walk into walls and momentarily glitch. This type of thing takes away from the immersion, BUT it's not enough to take away from the game as a whole.

Delsin, unlike Cole, has a fantastic personality and sense of humor. While I appreciated Cole and had respect for the character, video games are about escape into the world the character are in. I'd compare the personalities of Cole and Delsin to that of Batman and Iron Man, respectively. Sure, I could be a hard-ass with the occasional one-liner...or I could have some fun being the immature brat with superpowers. Both have their place in video games and media in general, but I enjoyed how Delsin takes the situation he's in seriously while not taking HIMSELF too seriously.

I don't know how exactly to explain it...but this game feels...well, FUN. It's fun in a way many games aren't able to be. It creates scenarios where you can say "wait...I can climb up THAT?" or "Ha, I didn't know I could use that as an energy source!" or "Wow, I wasn't expecting that to happen!" In the same way some of the greatest games of the all time have done, Infamous Second Son challenges players to actually have fun at the same time as playing through the story. You're not saying "ugh, if I could just get past this one part...". You're saying "I liked the way that felt!".

Second Son is a harmonious melding of an intriguing story (especially when you take it to it's fullest potential with "Infamous Paper Trail") and entertaining gameplay. Maybe the plot isn't a highly cerebral one as is that of "Bioshock Infinite", but it doesn't have to be. It's a perfect balance that makes the world and it's characters come to life.

The game is responsive, and it's a very enjoyable experience to blow up everything the D.U.P. has to offer. But this gets old after a while. You start to just do the same things over and over again. This is InFamous Second Son's largest problem, repetitiveness. Very similar missions and tasks are repeated many times. While I never got completely bored of the game, it became more of a chore towards the end. When playing a game, you should not want the game to end, you should want to keep on coming back for more. Story wise, this game is kind of a letdown. There was a lot of potential, but it wasn't fulfilled. At the very beginning, the game does a great job of setting up Delsin and his companions. The middle of the game has a loose story, but most of the time all you know is that you need to blow something up, or catch someone. If the middle of the game had more cut scenes, this could have been avoided, but almost all of the cutscenes are at the beginning, with a few towards the end as well. I know I have said it already, but the environments are absolutely beautiful. Seattle seems alive, but at the same time, very dull. There are many characters roaming the streets, but none of them are very smart, using the same animations and dialogue over and over again. This takes away from the realism of Seattle. There aren't very many memorable locations either. This creates an unmemorable experience for a lot of the game. The powers that Delsin uses look absolutely amazing and are a blast to use. Learning new abilities are what keep me coming back to the game, which makes the game difficult to play more than once. So far I've only played the evil side of Delsin. While there are minor changes on the good side story wise, there are very few power wise. Generally, everything is the same. This makes the game a one time play through, until you have forgotten some of the story and feel like playing again. The main story probably takes about 10 hours to complete, not including side missions. For some, that may not be worth $60. If you are a big fan of open world superhero games, want something to show off your new PS4 with, or just need a game to play on PS4, you will probably enjoy this game. I fit into a couple of those categories, which is why I gave InFamous Second Son a 9/10. Expand

The story is captivating and interesting as well. Following a very dinamic and funny character, the story is easily the best in the franchise if you ask me.

The main story playthrough is not that long, but it might as well count as half of the game, since it should be done in two playthroughs (good and evil). Because you mainly have different powers, activities, missions, etc, so the second time around it will probably be just as fun.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not even half of what it was hyped up to be. Other than the graphics (which were impressive), this game is a boring mess that fails to deliver in every way imaginable. For a game that is supposed to be centered around having superpowers, it certainly doesn't make you feel powerful at all. Too often you are surrounded by a horde of enemies that haven't both guns and, for some reason, superpowers (which is stupid, considering that they're supposed to be hunting down anybody with superpowers). I found myself being forced to run away from fights while I wait for my health to regenerate. Seriously? The combat itself feels broken and forces you to play a certain way. Mêlée combat, though available, is almost never an option because you just get shot by more enemies when you attempt it, forcing the game to become a shooter with weak shooter mechanics. If there were at least some kind of targeting system, it might have been more bearable. Additionally, the gameplay is repetitive. Time after time you are forced to go to some D.U.P. controlled area, wipe out the enemies, and blow something up, all while fighting the same boring enemies. The powers which you are given make little sense. Even though it is supposed to be a comic book style game with super powers, that doesn't mean the powers should be something stupid. Video powers? Are you serious with that? There is a power set that lets you drain the power out of TVs and summon creatures from the screen. It makes no sense at all. Finally there is the story. It is poorly written and weak in almost every aspect. I found it to be predictable and full of plot holes. As mentioned previously, the primary antagonist, which is tasked with hunting down conduits/bio-terrorists are themselves people who possess superpowers. This already shows that there is a giant hole in the foundation of the plot. On top of that, the characters are boring, generic, and not memorable in the slightest. The back and forth nature of the relationship between Delsin and Reggie that switches between being Reggie being supportive of Delsin and treating him as a freak because of his abilities makes no sense, and bugged me throughout the entire game. For all that Infamous: Second Son tries to do, it fails in almost every way. Not at all worth buying. Expand

Nothing new to see here ....... same old gameplay mechanics, very repetitive rinse and repeat over and over with the side missions, once you have done a few you won't bother with the rest. Graphics are ok nothing like what the hyped up to be though. Save yourself the money and wait for it to hit the bargain bin.

Great storyline, insane graphics and a beatiful world to explore. Must buy for a ps4 owner

btw ignore the negative reviews, obviously they are from xbox owners who are angry over the fact that they can't play this great game

The game is very mediocre in my opinion, it feels unpolished and rushed to the market. I think they could of spent more time on this game and it could of been better. I own both xbox one and ps4 I am not some butt pirate fan boy. But this game isn't enough to justify someone purchasing a ps4. Hopefully the order, gow, uncharted, last of us sequel will.

I loved the game, gameplay is fantastic and very fluid. Graphics are nothing short of spectacular. There are only two things that i don't enjoy. First of all the choice based system. The initial choice of good or bad is fine but later on in the game there is no point of giving the player choice, e.g if a player chose his first decision to be good, why would his last decision be evil? They could have found some other way of implementing this. I like the storyline 3/4 of the way, but the last hour or so is full of cliches which really made it kinda boring.

Overall though, great game, just roaming around the city with your powers beat all those negatives away!

Don't come into this looking for Last Of Us level storytelling. Come to inFamous:SS for comicbook-like narration that doesn't take itself too seriously and fun, addicting gameplay that will keep you hooked. Beautiful animation/character models, fluid action, and a real sense of power tie it all together. Highly recommended.

Better graphics and thats it.The gameplay is very repetative and the story is uninteresting. I really see no reason for multiple playthroughs. Expected much more from this game. Now its going back to gamestop.

Second son is a new entry in a familiar world, the game plays as it looks, beautifully, and the store is solid. With the addition of the paper trail story, Second son should keep us all busy for quite a while.

This game is worth a buy.

WOW!!! the graphics are amazing and so polished nothing looks bad everything has the same detail as the main character. The story for this type of game is really good also the dialogue. This game is an evolution of the series that works really well on the ps4. It looks and plays more smooth and fun than any other game on the ps4 right now. Expand

Fantastic game. It feels so good to fight and run around Seattle. Extra side content really adds a lot to the game, but I do have say that the main story was surprisingly short on the normal difficulty. This game is definitely the best PS4 game and probably the best superhero game. Its certainly one of my favorites. You really do "Enjoy Your Powers." I give it a 9.5.

So firstly, this game is stunning. The first real game that made me believe that i was actually playing a next gen development. The praise stops there however.

First thing i noticed routing the audio through my headset was the break up and cracking in sound, quite annoying and definitely noticeable when your roaming and not hung up in action. Also the mechanics seem off. When using your powers to traverse around your environment there is no fluidity when sprawling up walls and over obstacles. it feels very stuttey, not at all seamingless which i would come to expect. Not at all like last gen games such as Arkum City or Tomb Raider to name a few, were the transitions of your character from objects and environment seemed solid and smooth.
Then there is the in game combat, when you attack your enemy it seems and sounds like your hitting them with pillows. Its very diluted combat and one that gets boring fast.
For £50 i expected something more solid, granted the visuals are immense but the gameplay is average and the reason i am so dissapointed is because i had high hopes for this game

    Fantastic single player game.

Pros -Amazing graphics -Huge map/city -Tons to do, with variety -Tight responsive controls -Fun powers -Navigating the city is a blast, and easy/fast -Game runs silky smooth -Skill trees are well thought out -Good replayability, worth it to play once as hero, once as evil. Cons -City isn't as alive as say GTA V -Story is serviceable, but

-Sound design overall is fine, but there isn't much "of it" for a lack of a better way to put it. Most of the time the games pretty quiet, could have used more music IMO.

Great game overall, best next gen game so far IMO.

ISS borrows, smartly, from other successful games. If you enjoyed collecting items and completing missions off of the in-game map in Assassin's Creed (and I do), you will find more of it here in ISS. If you liked upgrading skills and searching for new ones, that's here too. Snappy control and marvelous graphics come together to give the player with these preferences lots to do.

I should also mention that the characters are very likeable, which surprises me a little. They seem a little more human than in any game I've played (probably due in part to the exceptional facial capture technology and excellent acting).

Also, the games looks absolutely outstanding.

Some reviewers have mentioned that the gameplay is repetitve after a while. They must be playing a different game because I've not seen this at all. In fact, I'm not sure what they're referring to exactly.

One of the best Infamous game to date, and definitely one of the best PS4 games to date. It's a must own for any PS4 owner, or infamous fan. The graphics are stunning and hands down amazing especially in full 1080p with 60 fps. The game itself has a more serious tone, and the gameplay is done perfectly. The AI is smart, and story is great, and the city feels very alive. 10/10

I don't know why users give this game a 0. There seems to be a couple of xbox fanboys here who are rating this game low in an attempt of promoting titanfall..WTF

My opinion is that this is a special game.

It definitely isn’t one of those games you talk about years after its release, but it showcases PS4’s capabilities well and in contrast to Killzone: Shadow Fall also does something else – guarantees fun from the beginning till the end. [CD-Action 05/2014, p.58]
