Story - The game continues from the aftermath of Infamous 2's good ending and tells the new protagonist Delsin Rowe's story which is a conduit whose powers can absorb the powers of other conduits. The story centers on Delsin's battle against the DUP, a group who swore to capture all conduits in the world lead by a sadistic but powerful conduit Augustine. It covers also the life of conduits after infamous 2 and the discrimination and hate that they encounter. IMO, i am not impressed with the story, it is very cliche, short and also predictable, and this are from the makers of infamous 1 and 2 which has great storyline. In addtion, the protagonist is weak, his good path is his obvious personality while his bad path is ridiculous and out of place. Despite that the supporting characters on the other hand are great esp Eugene and Fetch, other conduits who will help Delsin in his fight againts the DUP. The same weakness goes to the antagonist which is pretty cliche at start but was rather interesting at the end. Overall though, it is dissapointing and a siginificant letdown for me wirh regard the storyline. A poor score of 4/10

Gameplay - I can say that this aspect of the game is till maintained and it is awesome! The way the powers is used, the smooth controls and how you have different powers at your disposal unlike the previous two in the sequel in which you can only use lightning, in here, you can use 4 different powers and skills which is great. My main problem in the game though is its missions, it is short and was kinda repetitive as a whole, cause all you do is go to point A fight, then go to point B, then fight, the open world, you can only cover the area by taking over DUP bases and getting collectibles. The only miscellaneous quest i really liked is the wall painting mini game which is entertaining. Overall, a good score of 8/10 will do.

Graphics - Now we are talking, Sucker Punck really showed in this game how powerful and how promising next gen games will look. It is very pretty and there are ZERO frame drops or screen tearing occuring ingame despite the many explosions and effects coming out in the screen. My issue however is the environment, realistically it is good and beautiful but it is very short and you cant really go to places which are interesting despite its great view, in addition, i was somewhat neutral to the punk character design of the characters but i didnt like Delsin's image in both the good and bad path, glad that you can change his jacket ingame. Overall, it deserves a great score of 9/10

Music and Sound - The soundtack of this game is a mix of punk and rock music, and i can see why based on the main characters. Though imo, with the storyline they want you to see, i dont think it matches it. As to the sound and voice acting though, it is top notched with troy baker being the lifesaver of the protagonist with his good voice acting and motion capture. A fair score of 7/10.

    Average score = 7.00

If this game was released as a new IP or new title then i would be giving it a better score. But considering that is a sequel (or spinoff) then there is no question why it will be compared to its previous game in the series. It is inferior and despite the good gameplay and good graphics, i never really felt connected nor fell in love with its characters nor are they that memorable. Regardless,it its still one of the better exclusives of PS4 and suckerpunch being one of the better developers of them also hope to make more and better games in the future, Kudos to them! Thanks

Interesting characters, the gameplay itself is solid. However, it does not perform as well as the other infamous games, the graphics are good, and the story is nothing to write home about, but if you are looking for a solid game with a smooth controls it might be something for you

An excellent game! Awesome game play, good graphics and a good story. You get engaged with the characters so quickly the map is a good size and so realistic. If you are a trophy hunter it's a relatively easy platinum.

Story - As a gamer who played the first two of the series. The story of this game is worst compared to the previous titles. The story of this game is worst compared to the previous titles. In fact, it is very ordinary, short and nothing really in the whole campaign felt as unique and everything is predictable. It just shows the aftermath of Cole's actions from Infamous 2 and revolves around the discrimination felt by the surviving "bioterrorist" in the world. As to the characters, All in all, It is BAD, Delsin is not that interesting and has a lot of corny and annoying jokes, his evil persona is so out of place and a try-hard to be "evil" while it is very obvious that his good path is his true personality. As a conclusion, he is not a good new protagonist to change Cole. The supporting cast however are much more interesting esp that guy who likes videogames (avoiding spoilers). Ill give this aspect a score of 6/10.

Gameplay - The positives, the gameplay is so smooth and has little to no bugs or glitch whatsoever. Delsin has not only one but FOUR different powers in the game which is divisive and useful in many and different situations and battles in the game. The negative side however is the small number of skills and scope of Delsins power in the game. Every power has their own version of R1 and L1s and glide and dashes and nothing really distinguishes a power from another power other than how they look. Its should have been better if they just made more skills available for us. An okay score of 8 to me.

Graphics - Now this is the part where this game lives up to the hype. The game is SOOOO GORGEOUS AND SO SMOOTH. One of the best graphics of the game in the year it was released. No graphical issues, lags or frame rate drops are occuring anywhere despite a lot of explosions appearing on screen. The facial expression of every character from the movement of their eyes to their movement of their lips and cheeks are all detailed and almost realistic. The motion acting of every character is smooth and the cutscenes are like watching a film. A score of 10/10 deserves such effort by Insomniac Games.

Soundtrack and Sound - Voice acting is top notched. You have Troy Baker who tbh, the only reason why Delsin is not a failure of a protagonist. The guy's voice acting is awesome. Every actor and actresses in the game really put their best in order to put life to every character they did and I LOVE IT. As to the soundtrack however, personally, I never really liked the punk style hardcore music, Its not really my thing and it didnt really fit to the storyline the game wants you to feel. A score of 6 for this.

    Total Average = 7.5

This is a game which continues one of the better series from Playstation's exclusives and this game is the worst of the 3 games in its series. The protagonist is weak, overall cast are weak also, the story is average, the powers are many but nothing really was interesting and the overall campaign felt normal and nothing really memorable happened. All in all, despite the great graphics and smooth gameplay, every other thing felt ordinary if not dissapointing. Dont get me wrong, if it is a stand alone game or a new ip it would be better but it being a successor to its succesful predecessors would also be the reason of its criticism. That is all. Thank you.

If you haven't played any other inFAMOUS games already, then this one is a great introduction to the genre and concept. I wasn't familiar with the series prior to this game and I found it very easy to understand and get into.

The game is extremely fun, and the combat mechanics are interesting and different from most games-- there isn't a lot of melee fighting and most skills are at range. The way the abilities are managed is fantastic, and exploring your new skills and receiving them is ridiculously addicting. Using them is pretty amazing too-- they feel intuitive and natural, even though it takes some getting used to.

The story is not the strongest, and the over-used Troy Baker is voicing yet another lead, but it is heartfelt and interesting and I can't really fault it. It is solid. The characters are likeable, even the lead, who can be annoying at times. The graphics are beautiful, with Seattle coming across even better than it really does. The content isn't huge, it will keep you immersed for a good week most probably (if you do side quests and such) but you could probably rush it in a few days.

I really enjoyed this game, and I missed leaving the inFAMOUS world when I was done. I wish they'd release some DLC or another stand-alone pack (there is one, but it somehow was less fun for me), perhaps from the point of view of another character, or even if the main from this game came back, that'd be awesome.

inFamous: Second Son is good but unmemorable game. If you played the previous games than you basically played this one as well. Except the two previous games had superior story with interesting twists and surprises. The gameplay hasn't changed much from the previous titles but it's better especially the movement. The new powers are fun and make you feel like a superhuman so the game succeeds in some way. Also the game looks stunning on PS4 so if you want the game to show off what the console can do, it's this one. Overall the game is fine but you won't remember it for long.

For a game I stopped playing after a few hours originally, I would rank it in my top 5 favourite games to date. It's just mindless fun and seeing as it's only $20CDN (although usually less than $15 on sale), it's well worth the price.

    Review Date: 6/29/16

Everything about Infamous: Second Son just screams cool - from the urban alt-punk Seattle aesthetic, to the badass Native American protagonist Delsin Rowe. Whether you decide to take Delsin down the path to becoming a True Hero or pave the streets with chaos and blood as you become Infamous, it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

I cannot give this game enough praise. Second Son takes everything that was great about the franchise thus far and bumps it up a notch, from visuals, to narrative, to characterization. Tight controls give you easy access to all of Delsin’s abilities, and, man, he has a lot of them. There are plenty of PS4 performance gimmicks abound – it’s easy to tell this was in the early days of the console’s lifecycle. Interactions with the environment like opening doors require swiping across the touchpad but it works surprisingly well.

Picking up a few years after Cole’s exploits in the first two games, you play as conduit Delsin Rowe during a government takeover over Seattle. Moving from one story mission to the next is much the same as it was in previous titles, but while parkouring to your next destination there is plenty going on the streets of Seattle to distract you, mainly the DUP (Department of Unified Protection) who is oppressing the people of Seattle and your fellow conduits. Each “zone” of Seattle is under their control and by disrupting their activities you can push them out of sections of the city, which allow you more freedom of movement and the establishment of fast travel points.

All of these actions, depending on how they are executed, will affect your Karma and help you progress down the path of good or evil. The Karma system even affects your powers and facilitates your progress down either of those roads by granting Delsin abilities that will either pacify or obliterate your opponents.
The cast of characters is varied, but a bit cliché. The other conduits you recruit along the way do not get fleshed out as much as I would like, but it’s a great moment in the game when you see them all coming together to fight the powers that be.

Infamous Second Son is just a great game, and among my top PS4 picks. Good and Evil paths and higher difficulties give you plenty of reasons to come back, as well as the always present lure of more trophies. If you were like me and still hadn’t picked up this PS4 exclusive, gogogogogogo.

    Pros:
---Delsin Rowe is awash with personality
    ---Gameplay is tight
---Visuals are stunning for an early game on the hardware
    Cons:
--- Could have used more story related missions

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. inFamous: Second Son is a superhero action game which is somewhat let down by some design choices and the fact that it was essentially a launch title for the PS4.

Story: it is a sequel to the previous 2 games, but not a direct one, as Cole (RIP) has been replaced by Delsin Rowe, who is a far more likeable character, a young man with a passion for life (and his powers). Delsin is a mutant (or, in inFamous language, a Conduit) who can copy the power of other mutants by touching them. Delsin's brother Reggie is the usual big brother who worries about his young brother, and Augustine (the main antagonist) is a mutant who wants to protect mutants from humans by... arresting (!) and imprisoning (!) them. The story isn't anything great or original, but it is good enough (and short, too), with messages about Big Brother, racism and family. As with previous games, the player can make choices (good karma and bad karma) in crucial moments in the story, but it's nothing too different between good karma and bad karma, so no Mass Effect or Dragon Age branching dialogue/choices here.

Gameplay: Delsin has access to 4 different powers smoke, neon, video (my favorite) and concrete (whereas Cole only had access to electricity). Each power is somewhat different, but 90% of the move set is the same across all of them. Smoke is more of an all-around power, neon is about speed and Max-Payne-style slow-motion aiming, video lets you fly and summon angels, and concrete is more about brute force (but you gain it at the very end, and don't have enough time to practice and enjoy it). The game is structured around missions in an open world, the map is divided into areas (districts), and features both story missions and side ones (which are the same for every district, like finding a secret agent or shooting hidden cameras). Your aim is to complete the story, and drive the DUP (some kind of Police) out of every district of the city by doing side missions. When you power up Delsing (which is done by collecting shards across the map), you will enjoy traversing the city in super ways! Also, your actions determine your karma (good or bad) and unlock different perks for your powers.

Not everything is great, though. As I said, it is essentially a launch title, and the game suffers a bit as developers Sucker Punch had to ready the game in a short time and optimise it. There are no game breaking glitches or bugs (like Assassin's Creed Unity for example), but gameplay is somewhat more limited than in inFamous 1/2. Cole had more moves at his disposal, and the map was bigger (I 'd say about 2 times bigger), and that reflects the time the game lasts (I beat the game and all side missions in around 8-10 hours, in contrast with the 20 hours it took me to beat both previous games).

Graphics: the game is simply beautiful and colorful, in contrast to previous inFamous games which were too dark for my taste. The lighting model is awesome. Character models are top quality, especially in cut-scenes, and motion/performance capture is fantastic. It runs at 30-40 fps, but you can lock it to 30 fps and experience no judder in a 60 Hz TV. Finally, you can freely pause the game with L3 and open up Photo Mode, which lets you position the camera as you please and take screenshots (which you can then transfer to a PC and do whatever you want with them).

Sound: dialogue and special effects are great. The soundtrack is meh.

All in all, inFamous: Second Son is the best superhero game there is. Buy it and enjoy it. And if you want more, there is the stand alone (no need to own inFamous: Second Son) downloadable inFamous: First Light which stars another character, Fetch, with her neon power.

I thought the story was weak but other than that I thought it was a good game. It looks good and plays great. Enemies are very frustrating however even on normal, I sometimes get barraged by projectiles and don't have time to get up and recover which results in me dying. But I digress, I'd give this game a VERY high 7 or a low 8.

Some were put off by his arrogance, whilst others - myself included - enjoyed his distinct personality. Either way, the ever-present Troy Baker does a fantastic job of bringing to life our hero (or villain) who avoids joining the long list of predictable video game protagonists. Crafting a more memorable lead character was necessary for the inFamous franchise, given the forgettable Cole McGrath of the series' previous outings.

As for the game itself, the structure follows a sort of procedural upgrade system. For the most part, the story simply directs you to new upgrades and powers whilst introducing some memorable characters along the way. Despite this seemingly repetitive choice of game design, the new abilities - whilst mostly being alterations on their original counterparts - always just about do enough to keep things fresh. Switching between them and upgrading them on your own accord gives a great sense of freedom to play the game mostly how you want to within the preset constructions. In this respect, collecting blast shards is essential if you want to improve your powers, and so scavenging collectibles actually has a meaning and doesn't just act as a factor of longevity as it does in most games of this ilk.

All that said, I did initially have qualms with the core combat system. At first I couldn't get on with the reticle; it felt like I couldn't be as precise as I would have liked with my long-range powers, but over time I developed a knowhow and became accustomed with the multiple variants on the numerous combat options. In the end, the array of choices at your disposal when in combat are what keep said mechanic from growing stale.

The story is predictable in places and you'll occasionally roll your eyes at the cringy script, but for the most part it keeps you intrigued and you'll grow to see Delsin as a more human character at important plot points during the tale, nicely contrasting with his otherwise 'couldn't care less' attitude toward life. What's more, whilst most games would settle for a single storyline, inFamous Second Son - much like the inFamous games that came before - allows you to play as a hero or a villain and the publics perspective of you will alter respectively. This feature could have been invested in a bit more as in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter what your peers think of you - they won't inflict any real impact on you either way, but it is a nice idea if not one that has been fully realised yet after three games in the series.

Alas, the point I was getting around to is that, having completed the game as a Hero, the game has provided me with an incentive to go back through it again as a Villain; to see how certain scenes would play out if I had made different choices, and developers Sucker Punch ought to be commended for that somewhat unique approach to game design.

They might also be commended for the handful of taxing boss battles that take place in the game. Sure, they often take on a classic boss battle approach i.e. the boss performs the same moves in a routine and you have to work out how to exploit that, so some would not be too psyched about this element of the game and I can sympathise with that. Personally however, I usually felt that the bosses themselves provided enough motive to want to take them down, meanwhile the aforementioned varied combat system did enough to keep me mixing things up and testing new approaches. Regardless, the bass battles are unlikely to be one size fits all in terms of preference, but given the rest of the game's consistent quality, I think most players will be able to overlook that.

All in all, inFamous Second Son is an enjoyable romp that provides some unexpected twists, meaning it just about stands out in the crowded sandbox genre. Lacklustre side missions offer no real incentive to return to the game and the combat can take time to get to grips with, but aside from that Second Son offers a beautiful take on Detroit with a bizarre fiction and refreshing gameplay mechanics that keeps you entertained from start to finish, if not fully enthralled.

Infamous Second Son , was one of the first games on ps4 and unique that showed that the ps4 came . It is a good game with a great soundtrack, and makes you feel the fight and the character of the conflict in the choices to become a super hero or a villain . Delsim is a dual character, but led by their emotions . A great game!

inFamous Second Son is a tech demo for the PS4. I can hardly think of this game as a labour of love from the developers. It just feels like some out of touch executive was the main force behind it all.

Graphics-wise, it's very bland. There's facial mo-cap like in L.A. Noir, and some skills are flashy and all. But the city is very bland and you see the same enemies and citizens all over.

There's no re-playability. The story is filled with plot holes, and is just very uninteresting and uninspired.
Protagonist is a whiny little stereotypical teenager that you can't connect with on any sort of level.
Side missions are a chore. Choices in this game are a complete joke - 'evil' choices make no sense.
The worst part is you can't skip the story since it's tied to how the game loads (no blank loading screen just playing the game). To be honest, having to sit through it again - I'd rather just have a loading screen.

Combat can be a bit interesting, but definitely not a game seller - especially when it's so un-challenging.

The 'Red Faction: Guerrilla' progression in the game is dated and feels forced on you.

The gimmicky graffiti sections just seem to add to your distaste with Delsin. I bet no one thought it was a good idea except for that executive producer that read in some 90s magazine that kids like graffiti. On that note - I'm surprised this game doesn't have skateboards.

Honestly, if you get this game for free with your console - then who cares right?
But this isn't worth your money. Don't be fooled by other reviews. I have no idea who are these 2000 people that thought this warranted a high score...

? I liked the idea of the Paper Trail missions, but they ended up bugging out and not giving me the second waypoint on my map, so I missed them all until after I had beat the campaign and looked up where the objective marker was supposed to be; doing them after the game is done is way less interesting, and the puzzles online a little more tedious than I would've liked
    - The story has some admirable moments, but the overall rules of the world are pretty absurd and taken way less seriously than the game pretends; it tries to be very dramatic about all the scenarios in play, but the actual logical progression of those events is bordering on nonsensical at times

There isn't a good villain and the establishment created isn't scary enough for you to feel that you have to fight against. Another serious flaw is that you're jumping here and there and sometimes there's no reaction of the passers by to get to the point that I exploded the ground close to some passers and them didn't even stop drinking their coffee. There is an endgame but it doesn't offer much especially as the end game activities are mostly available throughout the story if you're good enough. After the story it offers the activities you didn't complete in the open world such as locate, hunt and discover objectives as well as district showdowns and the 'Paper Trail' addition that involves a lot of complicated internet scrolling. However once you've 100% the events and you have the (fairly easy) platinum trophy there are raids in which a group of enemy's crowd together and you need to take them down, this just repeats, not many games offer a life beyond 100% but the lack of multiplayer does shorten the lifespan of this one. The story/s are really quite good but are probably only 10 hours most in length, it's a good game to get if you're just starting life on PS4 but if you like playing with friends and online competitive it obviously can't provide. Great game, great story and refreshing for it's brevity in an age of 100+ hour time sinks. Just before the district tasks start to get repetitive, a major story event shows up to break the monotony. Some of the boss fights can be slightly frustrating due to the games stun/slow cam mechanics, but on Normal difficulty the challenge level seemed just right.

Very repetitive. You are not fully in control of your character with jittery gameplay yet are expected to kill hundreds of DUP agents(guys in breaking bad style chemical suits). After 2 hours of repetitive gameplay I was thoroughly annoyed.

One of the best Infamous games i played! Its really a must have game the powers, the side missions. and of course the campaign is spot on. The developers nailed the graphics and art here, great game physics and also the actors here also nailed it! If you don't own this game i highly recommend it!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never played Infamous 2 (although thanks to a friend i am aware of the canonical good ending), letting you know before hand. I did play infamous 1 though, and enjoyed the heck out of it. I had so much fun in the game's open world, choosing the villain's path in all of the game's though moral choices. I am glad to say Infamous: Second son is a worthy successor to Infamous (and it's sequel which i heard was also great).

The story takes place almost a decade after the second, following the death of Cole, along with many conduits being detained and thrown in jail. We play as Delsin Rowe, a regular young adult (or so he believes, who is the average representation of what adults think young people are like nowadays. Yes Delsin, along with many of the supporting characters who we meet along the way are cardboard cutout, two-dimensional stereotypes. It's not that huge of a problem though. Now, a conduit invades Delsin's lodge or something, and after touching his arm, Delsin learns that he has the conduit power of absorbing other powers. The conduit hunters come in, and their leader, Augustine, in a search for the truth of what happened, jacks up all Delsin's people with her rock powers. This leads Delsin on a quest for her powers so he can save his friends and family. It's a little underdeveloped for my tastes, but still delivers. The story is short yes, but with the two different endings that can be achieved, it makes you want to play the game twice. I of course went the villain path first, no hesitation.

The gameplay is more refined and entertaining as ever. It's the standard infamous first person shooting, but what's different here is the inclusion of FOUR different conduit powers to be unlocked and used in battle. I personally enjoyed the Neon powers, which felt like Cole's signature electric abilities. Each ability has it's own unique attacks and special attacks, they all feel different. Now the moral choices. They don't have as much impoact as infamous 1. Having played the game twice to get both endings, the game progresses the same way no matter what you pick. You don't get any special phone calls from allies, nothing. The only thing that is different is some of the powers you can unlock. Oh, and one more thing, the game looks beautiful, no doubt one of the best looking PS4 games currently.

Infamous Second son, while not as good as the first, is a worthy successor to it's two predecessors.

There are three other powers in the game, but I will not spoil them for anyone who hasn't played the game yet. The best part is, that I never felt like I wasn't having fun, and that's the most important part of any game in my personal opinion. Also, the game does give you all these great powers, but it is still challenging. You feel like you can take on anything, but still know that you can die if you get too reckless. Like I said before, I feel like the only problem with the game is the short story. Also, the Infamous series still has the problem of not giving better story paths based on your good or evil intentions. But the fun game play and funny dialogue make this game a must play for anyone who likes super powers. Expand

Does that make it any less of a game? Absolutely not. (Disclaimer: I've never played InFamous 2.) Second Son is a good game. One of the best on the PS4 that isn't some re-release of a game that came out a year before. Second Son doesn't have a golden story or characters, and I personally don't like the completely Black/White morality choices, but goddamn is it a fun game to play. Its more or less a third person shooter without a cover system, but instead relies on traversing rooftop to rooftop to avoid getting totally rekt (which is easy to do), and picking off enemies one at a time with the four original and cool powers that you get over the course of the game. Each of these powers having their pros and cons (the last power comes in too late for it to even be considered useful), but they all have their own style/flair/abilites/core traversal moves, Smoke/Neon being my favorite. The game is also really pretty to look at, even though it may not be the most colorful game ever, its lighting, contrast, and saturation all blend beautifully, and the game never leaves its steady 30 frames. But I like I said before, the story isn't perfect. The voice acting is really well done, and the chemistry between characters is good, but the story is far too simple. It tries to be grandiose in its simplicity, but fails. The story isn't much with different (Good/Evil) moralities besides a few scenes that don't offer much, and sometimes the scenes will be exactly the same. The side objectives really aren't that great either. There a few cool (though overly simplistic) ones such as spray painting graffiti with the PS4 Controller Touch Pad which was a nice break from the combat, but most are hunting some guy down in a crowd, or finding an audio log and cameras which are all too simple. But of course, the combat is really the big star of show anyway, and for me, anyway, it was really fun. Overall I do recommend buying on sale. $30-$40 is a good price for a 15-20 hour game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. inFAMOUS Second Son is one of PS4's best exclusives so far (The Last of Us doesn't count, it's a remaster)! Throughout the game I was having great fun and I earned a well-deserved Platinum Trophy on it. The story is about Delsin Rowe, an average stencil artist in Salmon Bay, an area outside Seattle. When Delsin and his brother Reggie witness a truck full of conduits (people infected with special powers) crash, they go to search for survivors and find Hank, a conduit with smoke powers, who unexpectedly gives his powers to Delsin. Then he chases after Hank and tries to find a way to get rid of his powers, which he is scared of at the moment. At the end of their chase, Delsin meets Brooke Augustine, head of the Department of Unified Protection (DUP). Augustine shoots concrete into Delsin's legs, knocking him out. Then Delsin goes to Seattle to deal with Augustine - a usual revenge story. Over the course of the game, you move around with smoke powers, then neon, then video and finally concrete. When you unlock one power, you can drain from the source of one of the other powers to use it again. You can also do something that doesn't require your powers as a side activity - Stencil Art. You can also kill DUP secret agents, destroy DUP hidden cameras, collect Informant audio logs, destroy DUP mobile command units and drain shards (your upgrade currency) from tracker drones. Do all of the side activities in one district and you'll unlock the District Showdown mission, where you vandalise a DUP billboard and obliterate all of the DUP reinforcements. Once you've done that, the district will be mostly free from DUP attacks. Throughout the game you are also brought into a morality system where you have to choose to be good or evil by doing particular actions and choosing paths in the story. Some of the evil actions don't really fit Delsin's personality, however. This is something that may need improving. The game looks amazing and shows off the power of the PS4 with incredibly detailed motion capture and facial expressions. Overall, this is a great game only brought down to a 9/10 by evil actions that don't fit Delsin's personality and not much reason to keep playing once you've completed everything to 100%. Expand

Seattle is not a great candidate for an Open world to be designed around , and to many gamers outside the United States it seems like we're left out of the loop when we are supposed to know what monuments such as the Space Needle is and we should be treating it like a huge deal that we're climbing the Space Needle.
I didn't have many problems with infamous : Second Son's story , I thought it wasn't great but wasn't too bad either , i think the voice acting for Delsin , Reggie and Fetch were good. I don't understand the character designs of some of this universe though , they seem to me to be incredibly boring or trying too hard to be dark or edgy (Fetch's backstory).

I think Sucker Punch should be applauded for thinking out of the box in terms of powers that Delsin uses as I haven't seen any of these in other games before or open worlds that i can think of

There is little difference between the difficulties offered and you might aswell play on Expert difficulty the first way through and what little replayability that is left for a second playthrough is down to morality choices.

I thought the sidesquests were largely uninteresting and boring , the graffiti sidequest seemed like it was put in to have some sort of touchpad control inserted into the game.

It's a short game but it does at least give a few boss fights but you rarely feel under threat of being killed.

Conclusion : Infamous Second Son is an okay game , I think the setting is uninteresting along with some of the cast but it has a decent story and good voice acting tieing together mediocre gameplay and decent audio

I won't reveal too much but the powers are strange. I found that only 1 of the 4 I ever liked. So how do I still give this game a 9 even though I have listed many cons. Because those cons are minisquelle, compared to the great and enjoyable content of this game. You have to play it. It is one of those games that you won't be satisfied with until you beat it more than once and complete every side mission and collectible at least once. There's not much enemy variation, the enemies are limited to a few different types throughout the game. The city you are left to free roam in does not feel alive. The citizens walking the streets do not feel like they could be real, and the people driving cars never get out of them and just aimlessly drive around the city. The choices that you make don't feel like they matter, and it's the same with your karma meter. There's just not much life in this game's city and the actions that you make. It didn't feel like the karma actions that I made affected the city at all, and that what I did was useless and didn't affect anything. Also, the different powers felt almost like a rehash of the same thing, with the skill tree unlocks being almost the same. However, the game was fun, and it was entertaining to play. Unless you are a hardcore inFamous fan, or find the game relatively cheap enough, I would personally not buy it. This game scores a 6/10, it is a good game. Expand

As though they felt bad even calling it inFamous. I think this was supposed to appeal to dudebros who just bought a PS4 and only play "certain types" of games. For the well rounded gamer, this is poison. I went in with high hopes and was constantly insulted... as a person. I don't like to be around characters like Delsin in real life, why would I want to play one in a game?

If you couldn't guess, my main complaint about this game would be the characters. They aren't likable at all, none of them. Your main character Delsin is kind of an angry arrogant teenager in a 25 year old's body who thinks he's Banksy and tries his hardest to be cool but he's just a douche. He's whiny, sad, lonely, abrasive, self absorbed, and incredibly sexist. The writing of his script shows they not only don't care about this character but whoever wrote him must think this giant sack of dung is the coolest person in the world. He forces his brother to constantly go against his own principles and do wrong by questioning his manliness and his devotion to family.

The female protagonist is super cliche and basically her only focus is blaming her drug problems on pushers and killing them off. She's petty, small minded, easy, and I guess embodies a drug addict but still not a character I want in this game. I kept playing, even with how much I hated all the characters. The worst part is everyone is calling you on your phone all the time to complain at you and you just get whiny at them and the ringtone is just horribly annoying.

The city design is terrible. Everything looks the same, there's no compass direction on the map indicator, the layout making getting around over complicated, the "fast travel" stations only work when you go to one so they're halfway useless, and the change of day doesn't change the city. I kept playing even though the game was clunky. The city was just a low point and it made me miss the amazing open world designs in pretty much every other game like this.

There are still bugs after patching. Some of the missions don't trigger so you have to restart them several times. Sometimes double the enemies spawn. Randomly guys will be much more active about shooting you so sometimes it's super easy and other times you get shot to death in a couple seconds. There is a glitch where spray painting makes people stop shooting you as well.

So when did I stop playing? How about the tedious and terribly designed boss battles and fighting system. How about the niche overuse of new PS4 control methods? That's what usually hurts a game. When you just can't enjoy playing it after you remove everything else. The melee is basic and the most powerful but it's so badly done. Shooting powers give almost no damage and headshots take ridiculous accuracy, which your character doesn't have. You can take 20 shots and easily miss a guy you have your reticle right on. Your character goes down fast so you have to hit, shoot, hide, wait, hit, hide, shoot, hide, and repeat that for the entire game. You don't ever feel powerful. Worst of all your super ability takes about 15 seconds to watch and isn't skipable. It keeps me from even wanting to use it.

There's also the quirky things they tried to do but just became obnoxious. The touchpad is used for several things and it just seems stupid like Sony demanded they use it. The spray painting is just pathetic and the mechanics for that are clunky as well. The sound coming out of the controller becomes annoying. The phone ringing, absorbing things, just any loud high pitched annoying sound they could throw through that thing at way too high of a volume, they did.

So why would you like or play this game? I don't know, maybe you're capable of overlooking all of the terrible qualities on your wasted money. The story is not even redeemable, it's a rip-off of X-Men. If you look at the competent well done reviews by the more reputable people around gaming, you find mixed or negative feelings toward this game. It's just bad and I only enjoyed the first 20 minutes, until you start getting powers and become a needy child wanting more and more. Because all you care about is more powers so you can be cool and tough.

Bad story, gameplay, mechanics, design, and characters make it one of the all time worst games I've played. I just hope they remaster the first two inFamous games for PS4 so I

In Infamous Second Son I found myself rolling my eyes, not caring, going through the motions..

If the concerns above would irritate you, this game wont hold your attention and wont get better as the game progresses. You'll be sighing and thinking you could be spending your time doing something better with your life.. never a good thing if a game does that to you from the start...

This is the first inFamous game I played so my review is not based in comparison with previous games. Game is overall good enjoyment. Very fast game play which i liked very much. This is the open world game but we don't have much of a choice to do things in free roam unlike GTAV. But that didn't bothered me I rather liked that. Talking about the downsides, I would have liked if they put little logic behind the powers we gain during game play. They say its a super-hero game but i think its more supernatural. Story is just ok. Average game length with no replay value But fun game overall, deserves 7.5/10.

While beautiful, Desmond feels liked a heavily nerfed version of Cole. Often lacking any real meaningful special abilities. Smoke and Neon both feel around 50% as powerful as lightning. If you want to be a badass, don't pick this up, for the first half of the game you will be getting torn to shreds by automatic weapons and are forced to hit generic enemies 4-6 times for a kill. I played and LOVED the first 2 games, the pathetic lack of content, and no content creator means this game has little to no replay value. Expand

It definitely isn’t one of those games you talk about years after its release, but it showcases PS4’s capabilities well and in contrast to Killzone: Shadow Fall also does something else – guarantees fun from the beginning till the end. [CD-Action 05/2014, p.58]

Fun romp, beautifully rendered and executed. Fantastic superpowers make up for the lack of depth. [Issue#241]

inFamous: Second Son is not a bad sandbox game at all! Serves as an interlude while waiting the heavy hitters to arrive. [Apr 2014]
