The first truly next gen graphics with an original art touch. Sunset, rain and wind effects are very good. A little disappointing story.

Great game. lots of fun. I think it would have deserved a 9 if the story was a little stronger, but overall it's a just a fantastically fun game. Rent it for a weekend and you will be very happy

The best part about infamous is the combat system. Well designed and fun to master, Infamous delivers a well balanced system of power stretching though out the game, ensuring that you experience new and fun powers all the way through the story. One does not really even need to talk about the graphics and design because looking at the game for just one minute will explain everything. It truly is the best looking game on PS4 with a stunning design of Seattle. The first real city in the Infamous series. The weakest and most disappointing part of the game is it's flawed story. After playing the game I came to realize that at no point did I care about any of the characters or the struggles they experienced. I also found the city to be a bit boring regardless of how beautifully designed it is. With repetitive mini games after the first five times of accomplishment and people who walk around and only "Gasp" at your powers, there really isn't a great amount of depth in the city as a character in itself. A fun and powerful game worth your time to make you feel like a bad ass! Expand

Finished this game last week. Probably one of the best game in the next gen console for now. The story starts after the end of Infamous 2 (Hero Cole). The conduits are still being treated as dangerous subjects. Our hero, Delsin, is a rebel lad. And his brother, Reggie, is part of the police force. One day, the two of them witness a car accident. Delsin found a guy who can shoot fire from his hand, and when he touched him, he got the smoke power and turns into a conduit. So, will Delsin will be able to turn back to normal? Play and find it out.

    Plus point:
    - Lovely graphics. As a PS4 exclusive, Infamous Second Son has an awesome environment. I mean, it's a sandbox game, but it's just lovely.
    - Awesome gameplay and usage of the DS4. I mean, the way you use your controller as a spray can? That's just awesome. The game itself is pretty easy to control. One button to release Delsin's powers.
    - Still the choices of being Infamous or True Hero. This increase the replay value. But only once. The path to be a hero or infamous. After that, you are done!
    - Probably one of the game in PS4 with the easisest platinum trophy. Play it twice, and it's yours.
    - Delsin can absorbs total of 4 powers. Smoke, Neon, Video, and for the post game, Concrete. This makes the battle more variable. You can change your style in the middle of the battle, and see their different ultimate attacks.

    Minus point:
    - Cheesy story. I never expect much from the story. Well it is a sandbox game, but yeah compared to the Cole's chapters, Delsin's story is just plain & boring.
    - Although Delsin got 4 powers, the powers seems almost the same one to another. I mean, first there are shoot power, and then one big attack moves, jumping/flying moves. They could have specialized each power to make it more special though.
    - Lack of formidable enemies. Well, if you play it on insane difficulty, then yes, it's quite a challenge. But other than that, they don't have a "strong" bosses to challenge us.

    The verdict:
Infamous : Second Son is a must play if you have a PS4. I mean, it's GTA with superpowers. How cool is that? But don't expect the story to be awesome, because it's not. But nevertheless, the game us very enjoyable. Although you'll get bored with the repetitive missions. But that's to be expected. 8/10 for this game.

While not a game changer, inFamous second son in a fantastic game. It's like an X-men game without being a Marvel product. An entertaining story with some great gameplay but some will find the missions repetitive. I put off buying this for a while, it really didn't attract me but after putting some time in with inFamous first light after getting it free on ps plus I was hooked. Highly recommend

A lot of people seem to complain about repetition in this game, but what game doesn't have repetition? Doesn't matter what genre you play there is repetition in every game you play. Now that isn't to say that after both a good and evil karma play through you will still be infatuated with this game, but you will be happy that you made the time investment. I had no problem with the story. I thought the villain was done well to the point where I wanted to smash her face by the end of the game. The supporting characters were fun and full of their own quirks. Graphics are amazing, and most of all the game play is a lot of fun. This game is a great show piece for your PS4. It is worth the $60, but if you still are unsure then wait for a price drop. Either way you are going to be glad you played it. Expand

Trophies are fun to achieve but the overall meta is pretty simple.

Definitely recommend this game for anyone looking for a few weeks to a month of game play - can do at least two play throughs to see the story from both good and evil side - especially if the price drops.

I do expect this game to be the first triple A game to be released via PSN but not for atleast a year.

This game does a great job with retaining the feel of inFamous with a good story and nice wide, open spaces. My main gripe with it is that you really don't feel engaged with the enemies (all one type with little variance), and perhaps they should have done more with fewer powers than cram as many different powers into the game as possible. Still a LOT of fun!

InFamous: Second Son is a great game. There's a good selection of powers to use and upgrade, and exploring the city never feels tiring at all because you can do it both parkour style and use your newfound powers to get about more quickly and easily. Helping, or killing citizens, be good or be bad, that's what i love about the InFamous games, and this one takes it up the next level. The story's pretty decent, nothing special by any means. What i love second most about this game is the character portraits. Delsin Rowe is 10 times more likable than Cole ever was in the previous games. He's funny, and absolutely LOVES having superpowers and that's what's so cool about him, and i don't blame him when playing the game. All of the characters from his brother Reggie and the three conduits: Hank, Fetch and Eugene. You genuinely care for them, because they're so round and unique. Even Augustine the main villain, is one my favorite video game villains of all time. There's just something about her, that makes you feel she could really be some government evil military super **** like in the movies. The voice acting and her appearance all the way from her face and hair to the trench coat and boots, she's really believable and i think SuckerPunch really made an effort with her and all of the characters not to make them forgettable like most others from the previous titles. The boss battles are also super cool, especially the last one is epic. The only downside to this game is how short it is. You're definitely gonna see the end credits roll sooner than you'd like. There's not much to do outside of the main story either. There's only five side quests in total in each of the districts and that includes the district showdowns. There are a lot of drones and people to interact with to get your karma meter filling but it's too easy and too soon you've unlocked all of your powers and districts. Even if you play the game twice as both evil and good, it's just not enough to justify the length. I really hope that Delsin Rowe will return in the sequel, i really dig him. And it would just feel too boring and degrading to just have only one superpower again when you can have four in this one. Also in the next one, there's got to be more to do both the main missions and the side ones and more to do in the world and it should be a larger map. Expand

The story revolves around Delsin Rowe and his battle against the Department of Unified Protection. Along the way Delsin gains various powers that are as enjoyable to watch as they are to use. The Karma system plays an important part in deciding what kind of play through is achieved. The choices between good and evil are left to the player and its effects will radiate through the story and the powers that can be obtained. Seattle is an absolutely gorgeous open world setting and while it lacks the abundance of large buildings that the previous games had being able to climb up the iconic Space Needle more than makes up for it. The controls feel fast and fluid with some clever uses of the new touch pad on the PlayStation 4 controller. A comprehensive power tree and added difficulty levels will keep the most dedicated players glued to their seats for hours. Overall Infamous Second Son is a very strong addition to the series and a must own for PlayStation 4 owners who want to show off what their new piece of hardware can do. Expand

Expand

Story is ok enough to keep you interested, but not as strong as it was in previous titles. I also felt that there were less karma choices in this game. But in this title it was nice change of fresh air, that the side missions had more variety, and were not your standard GTA-type missions. Game was well paced this way.

I only encountered one bug on my play through, near the ending of the game, where on action prompt didn't appear when I arrived at mission destination. But killing the character/restarting mission fixed it, and didn't happen again.

    Story:

The Story of Infamous. Second Son starts pretty funny and Delsin Rowe is a cool and funny protagonist. But at the end it gets very emotional. You can decide if you want to play good or evil, but the good side fits better to Delsin. Moreover, it's always clear which way is the good and which the evil one. If you switch between them, you lose Karma Points (=EP). 8,5/10

This is the game thats beats triple-A titles like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed. inFamous: Second Son is a game all PS4 owners should get. A beautifully designed American town, crisp and precise controls and a mixture of challenging and easy stages, this is the game the PS4 deserves along side The Last of Us Remastered (2014) and No Man's Sky (December 2015)

The "Evil" play through didn't really make any sense and doesn't fit in with the story.

I thought the story was weak but other than that I thought it was a good game. It looks good and plays great. Enemies are very frustrating however even on normal, I sometimes get barraged by projectiles and don't have time to get up and recover which results in me dying. But I digress, I'd give this game a VERY high 7 or a low 8.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never played Infamous 2 (although thanks to a friend i am aware of the canonical good ending), letting you know before hand. I did play infamous 1 though, and enjoyed the heck out of it. I had so much fun in the game's open world, choosing the villain's path in all of the game's though moral choices. I am glad to say Infamous: Second son is a worthy successor to Infamous (and it's sequel which i heard was also great).

The story takes place almost a decade after the second, following the death of Cole, along with many conduits being detained and thrown in jail. We play as Delsin Rowe, a regular young adult (or so he believes, who is the average representation of what adults think young people are like nowadays. Yes Delsin, along with many of the supporting characters who we meet along the way are cardboard cutout, two-dimensional stereotypes. It's not that huge of a problem though. Now, a conduit invades Delsin's lodge or something, and after touching his arm, Delsin learns that he has the conduit power of absorbing other powers. The conduit hunters come in, and their leader, Augustine, in a search for the truth of what happened, jacks up all Delsin's people with her rock powers. This leads Delsin on a quest for her powers so he can save his friends and family. It's a little underdeveloped for my tastes, but still delivers. The story is short yes, but with the two different endings that can be achieved, it makes you want to play the game twice. I of course went the villain path first, no hesitation.

The gameplay is more refined and entertaining as ever. It's the standard infamous first person shooting, but what's different here is the inclusion of FOUR different conduit powers to be unlocked and used in battle. I personally enjoyed the Neon powers, which felt like Cole's signature electric abilities. Each ability has it's own unique attacks and special attacks, they all feel different. Now the moral choices. They don't have as much impoact as infamous 1. Having played the game twice to get both endings, the game progresses the same way no matter what you pick. You don't get any special phone calls from allies, nothing. The only thing that is different is some of the powers you can unlock. Oh, and one more thing, the game looks beautiful, no doubt one of the best looking PS4 games currently.

Infamous Second son, while not as good as the first, is a worthy successor to it's two predecessors.

There is an endgame but it doesn't offer much especially as the end game activities are mostly available throughout the story if you're good enough. After the story it offers the activities you didn't complete in the open world such as locate, hunt and discover objectives as well as district showdowns and the 'Paper Trail' addition that involves a lot of complicated internet scrolling. However once you've 100% the events and you have the (fairly easy) platinum trophy there are raids in which a group of enemy's crowd together and you need to take them down, this just repeats, not many games offer a life beyond 100% but the lack of multiplayer does shorten the lifespan of this one. The story/s are really quite good but are probably only 10 hours most in length, it's a good game to get if you're just starting life on PS4 but if you like playing with friends and online competitive it obviously can't provide. Some were put off by his arrogance, whilst others - myself included - enjoyed his distinct personality. Either way, the ever-present Troy Baker does a fantastic job of bringing to life our hero (or villain) who avoids joining the long list of predictable video game protagonists. Crafting a more memorable lead character was necessary for the inFamous franchise, given the forgettable Cole McGrath of the series' previous outings.

As for the game itself, the structure follows a sort of procedural upgrade system. For the most part, the story simply directs you to new upgrades and powers whilst introducing some memorable characters along the way. Despite this seemingly repetitive choice of game design, the new abilities - whilst mostly being alterations on their original counterparts - always just about do enough to keep things fresh. Switching between them and upgrading them on your own accord gives a great sense of freedom to play the game mostly how you want to within the preset constructions. In this respect, collecting blast shards is essential if you want to improve your powers, and so scavenging collectibles actually has a meaning and doesn't just act as a factor of longevity as it does in most games of this ilk.

All that said, I did initially have qualms with the core combat system. At first I couldn't get on with the reticle; it felt like I couldn't be as precise as I would have liked with my long-range powers, but over time I developed a knowhow and became accustomed with the multiple variants on the numerous combat options. In the end, the array of choices at your disposal when in combat are what keep said mechanic from growing stale.

The story is predictable in places and you'll occasionally roll your eyes at the cringy script, but for the most part it keeps you intrigued and you'll grow to see Delsin as a more human character at important plot points during the tale, nicely contrasting with his otherwise 'couldn't care less' attitude toward life. What's more, whilst most games would settle for a single storyline, inFamous Second Son - much like the inFamous games that came before - allows you to play as a hero or a villain and the publics perspective of you will alter respectively. This feature could have been invested in a bit more as in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter what your peers think of you - they won't inflict any real impact on you either way, but it is a nice idea if not one that has been fully realised yet after three games in the series.

Alas, the point I was getting around to is that, having completed the game as a Hero, the game has provided me with an incentive to go back through it again as a Villain; to see how certain scenes would play out if I had made different choices, and developers Sucker Punch ought to be commended for that somewhat unique approach to game design.

They might also be commended for the handful of taxing boss battles that take place in the game. Sure, they often take on a classic boss battle approach i.e. the boss performs the same moves in a routine and you have to work out how to exploit that, so some would not be too psyched about this element of the game and I can sympathise with that. Personally however, I usually felt that the bosses themselves provided enough motive to want to take them down, meanwhile the aforementioned varied combat system did enough to keep me mixing things up and testing new approaches. Regardless, the bass battles are unlikely to be one size fits all in terms of preference, but given the rest of the game's consistent quality, I think most players will be able to overlook that.

All in all, inFamous Second Son is an enjoyable romp that provides some unexpected twists, meaning it just about stands out in the crowded sandbox genre. Lacklustre side missions offer no real incentive to return to the game and the combat can take time to get to grips with, but aside from that Second Son offers a beautiful take on Detroit with a bizarre fiction and refreshing gameplay mechanics that keeps you entertained from start to finish, if not fully enthralled.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. inFamous: Second Son is a superhero action game which is somewhat let down by some design choices and the fact that it was essentially a launch title for the PS4.

Story: it is a sequel to the previous 2 games, but not a direct one, as Cole (RIP) has been replaced by Delsin Rowe, who is a far more likeable character, a young man with a passion for life (and his powers). Delsin is a mutant (or, in inFamous language, a Conduit) who can copy the power of other mutants by touching them. Delsin's brother Reggie is the usual big brother who worries about his young brother, and Augustine (the main antagonist) is a mutant who wants to protect mutants from humans by... arresting (!) and imprisoning (!) them. The story isn't anything great or original, but it is good enough (and short, too), with messages about Big Brother, racism and family. As with previous games, the player can make choices (good karma and bad karma) in crucial moments in the story, but it's nothing too different between good karma and bad karma, so no Mass Effect or Dragon Age branching dialogue/choices here.

Gameplay: Delsin has access to 4 different powers smoke, neon, video (my favorite) and concrete (whereas Cole only had access to electricity). Each power is somewhat different, but 90% of the move set is the same across all of them. Smoke is more of an all-around power, neon is about speed and Max-Payne-style slow-motion aiming, video lets you fly and summon angels, and concrete is more about brute force (but you gain it at the very end, and don't have enough time to practice and enjoy it). The game is structured around missions in an open world, the map is divided into areas (districts), and features both story missions and side ones (which are the same for every district, like finding a secret agent or shooting hidden cameras). Your aim is to complete the story, and drive the DUP (some kind of Police) out of every district of the city by doing side missions. When you power up Delsing (which is done by collecting shards across the map), you will enjoy traversing the city in super ways! Also, your actions determine your karma (good or bad) and unlock different perks for your powers.

Not everything is great, though. As I said, it is essentially a launch title, and the game suffers a bit as developers Sucker Punch had to ready the game in a short time and optimise it. There are no game breaking glitches or bugs (like Assassin's Creed Unity for example), but gameplay is somewhat more limited than in inFamous 1/2. Cole had more moves at his disposal, and the map was bigger (I 'd say about 2 times bigger), and that reflects the time the game lasts (I beat the game and all side missions in around 8-10 hours, in contrast with the 20 hours it took me to beat both previous games).

Graphics: the game is simply beautiful and colorful, in contrast to previous inFamous games which were too dark for my taste. The lighting model is awesome. Character models are top quality, especially in cut-scenes, and motion/performance capture is fantastic. It runs at 30-40 fps, but you can lock it to 30 fps and experience no judder in a 60 Hz TV. Finally, you can freely pause the game with L3 and open up Photo Mode, which lets you position the camera as you please and take screenshots (which you can then transfer to a PC and do whatever you want with them).

Sound: dialogue and special effects are great. The soundtrack is meh.

All in all, inFamous: Second Son is the best superhero game there is. Buy it and enjoy it. And if you want more, there is the stand alone (no need to own inFamous: Second Son) downloadable inFamous: First Light which stars another character, Fetch, with her neon power.

At first,. I didn’t enjoy the game. I hated having the smoke ability (its my least favorite of the 4) but then you meet Fetch and you obtain the Neon ability. What I liked about that is I could aim and actually gain good karma by shooting their legs.

Now the Karma is something I should explain, almost every action you make you choose between good and bad karma. Bad Karma is probably easier to go with, you obtain better abilities with Bad Karma but you’re a super hero in this game so being a selfish dick that I couldn’t relate to so I chose to go for Good Karma.

    Are there any similar games?

I haven’t played anything that I could say its similar to. I’m sure its similar to the other Infamous games but I haven’t played any of them.

    Favorite Character?

I liked the main Characters (Delsin) brother Reggie. Reggie was a stereotypical older brother who was a police officer. Overly protective and there wasn’t a lot of character development but I at least find him to be one of the more relatable characters in the game.

    Would you play it again?

No, I enjoyed the game but nothing really stood out about this game that makes me want to play this again or even another infamous game.

    Any Complaints?

The story was really weak, I thought it was very stereotypical and very predictable.

Even now in 2020 on PS4 Pro the game looks 4K great. Visual style and combat system is the best part of the game, because other elements of gameplay are either made at the middle level lib in general mediocre. The city of Sietl is empty and boring, NPC as in the games of the early 2000s. The plot compared to the series took a step forward, but it is still a primitive story. And there are advantages in it, for example actors play well emotions, this feels. Yes the ending is predictable from the beginning of the game, at the end of the story on the player fall just whole crowds of enemies, which is very annoying. But after the game you enjoy what you have done, it is a pity that there is nothing to do in the world except the main plot. The additional assignments are so one-of-a-kind that they are remembered by the 2007 Assassins Creed. Expand

I have always preferred Prototype, though I enjoyed the original inFAMOUS quite much as well. In the case of Second Son, I believe it is a bit inferior to the former (way inferior if we consider how it begins), but still a very decent action game.

Second Son clearly gets better as you gain new powers and improve the abilities, but it requires a bit of patience at the beginning. In fact, I would say the game is better once you have beaten or almost beaten it, since there is more freedom and you can just roam to accomplish the secondary objectives and so on.

During the storyline, the city is too obscure in my opinion (I even had to increase the bright to be able to see), and it does not surprise as the original game did. The graphics are not brilliant either; they look like PS3 graphics.

I do appreciate that you can choose between good and bad karma (I prefer bad; it is easier to be evil hehe). The differences are not huge anyway, but at least there are different endings and some minor varieties in powers. Another aspect I really liked is the fact that the game uses some of the options of the controller: microphone, tactile screen, movement... The game had been launched together with the console if I remember well, so it is normal they wanted to integrate those elements.

Overall, it is not a bad game whatsoever. However, I also think there are better action games on PS4 now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t have much to say on the game, it’s good, but forgettable. I finished it in a couple days but they were a really fun couple of days I loved the mechanics the idea of taking other powers it was awesome, but I have two problem with it. It’s short, the death in the game is unsatisfactory and leaves so much to be desired even if the ending was very sweet, and the evil mode.

Boy, if this game was just the evil mode my score would drop down easy, but the evil route, oh boy.

    -Too easy
Yes I know evil route is supposed to be easier but that’s the keyword EASIER not so easy I beat the game in literally a Under 5 HOURS

    -story
Wow, the evil routes story, absolute RUBBISH, nothing changes drastically from the good route other than the ending, a couple of missions change but only a couple and what I really hate is nothing changes towards the end, I thought maybe you’d kill your brother or kill the other characters but no the worst thing that evil delsin does is bang a girl who is obviously in no state to know what she’s doing and kill Betty and assumingly all of the people of the tribe which is only in the ENDING of the evil route.

    Ending- LAUGHABLE, LITERALLY, I LAUGHED

Game-Reggie doesn’t even try to stop delsin he’s just like “ah cool killing street performers again whatever”

If you wanna play the evil route, skip it, trust me.

The game has nice destructible environments and I hope we will see more destructible environments in games in the future. It's not on the level I want to see like you can destroy an enemy outpost and blow up cars but if you attack at a mirror in a building or a door then nothing happens but hopefully this changes soon and we will get games with fully destructible environments but I highly appreciate the efforts made by this game.

My biggest complaint is that though the game allows you to be either Good or Evil, both the playthroughs feel largely the same and the story remains unaltered. It makes a second run pointless. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but this is also a very short game even on the hardest difficulty it is very easy and will not take more than 10 hours unless you are spending a lot of time on the side activities which are kinda dull like finding a camera or killing some target.

One thing I noticed on my second (Evil) playthrough is that the game also has a side mission called The Paper Trail or something like that and it requires you to connect to the internet once. I was not able to play this mission on my first (Good) playthrough. Maybe it was there and I didn't notice so I'm not sure if this is only exclusive to Evil karma. But anyways, I first thought that it was gonna be interesting since it was about a conduit made of Paper. (He/She leaves paper behind every where they go.) But it just went on and on and on where you have to follow the trail over and over again and click pictures and it just became a chore. The side content is really not worth looking into. But you still have a nice 10 hour worth of solid story and gameplay. I wouldn't recommend this at $60 but it is definitely worth at least $30 or so. I should also mention that the graphics look really nice and I was able to see pores on the characters faces and the soundtrack is awesome too.

The story is also very basic - you know who is your enemy in the beginning and with that knowledge you go through the whole game, gather new skills and then final battle is coming. So very straightforward. Characters are sort of empty-hollow characters, even main hero, even main enemy, allies are bad-written as well. Next thing to discuss is combat system - it's much better than story and characters but I didn't find it awesome - it's ok, not good, not terrible. I understand the complexity of implementing super-skills in open world but probably would be better to have less amount of skills and invest that saved time into several skill.

So honestly the real score of this game is about 7.0. But as far as it is 7 years old and in 2014 I had scored it better so I've set 8.0.

Btw one more plus of that game is that it is quite short - about 10 hours.

Going through the very detailed city of Seattle by acquiring different kind of powers, developing your character and abilities, resulted on a progression system that makes you keep going in a way that I enjoyed: without forcing you to do secondary activities because it delivers them just natural.
The only flaw I found while playing was the different sides of the story depending on the few choices you make: the story in fact changes, the powers not that much. Besides that I really recommend inFamous Second Son if you are searching for an enjoyable and fun experience.

Un gran juego de Superhéroes... ¿O Supervillanos?

    JUGABILIDAD:
