    As a concept this looks awesome, but there was missing some key ingredients like good protagonist. Alloy is so forgettable, her visual design is fine, but voice acting and dialogues are boring.

The graphics and sound further enhance the beauty of the world and the bow combat makes the gameplay insanely fun.     One of the best looking games out right now. So far I'm really enjoying this game and it's well worth 60 dollars which actually has all of the content included and not ripe out to be resold.
    The character is interesting and learning about her story and what drives her is well done. The world feels so alive with the moving grass, animals, trees, etc. I get completely lost wandering around the world.
    The story is pretty good as well though it would have been nice to have a stronger relationship with other characters. I also really like the minor RPG elements and crafting in the game.
    The soundtrack is great and fits the game really well.

    Overall, I would recommend this game if you are a fan of open world games such as Witcher 3, Far Cry, etc. Gorilla games did a great job making this game and I'm just scratching the surface so far. Also, this game really shows of the power of the PS4. Plenty of content is to be found in this game. Also, how are there so many negative reviews?     Beautiful, very beautiful. Unfortunately that's about it. The combat is clunky and bland. Dodge roll, swing or shoot. The climbing is PS2 level bad. The story is convoluted and told through text. The side quests are ripped straight from the Witcher (go here, investigate, fight). I cannot understand how this game is so overrated beyond the fact its bright and shiny. It's about as deep as a puddle.

    Horizon is easily one of my favourite game, it has wonderful graphics for a game from 2017 and the fighting mechanic, im in love with it. You have different types of bows, traps, literal flamethrowers, and many more. And the amount of side missions and side content packed into this game is just ginormous.
    For me, this is the definition of must play game for PlayStation.

    This game changed my view on games in general. I loved the story and the design, every mission made me want to play even more. I've played the game 3 times already and it's still as great as the first time i played it.

    poor human ai and conquering camps. Great at beginning little too poor after first village and too boring, repetetive. Little bad exp system. FC5 is much more entertaining.

    Besides being pretty, this game is a huge mess. I bought the big collector's edition and I regret it deeply. It's buggy as hell, combats absolutely blow against machine and are even worst against humans, story is a snooze fest and puzzles level designs are some of the worst I ever seen. Do not buy this game.

    Where to start... I purchased my PS4 specifically to play this game because I fell in love with the reveal trailers that were online. Upon the game launching and being greeted with a beautiful menu screen, I knew I was going to enjoy this game immensely. From the narrative, to the combat and the scenery it hosts an array of, what feels to be AAA designs for a brand new IP, that all playersWhere to start... I purchased my PS4 specifically to play this game because I fell in love with the reveal trailers that were online. From the narrative, to the combat and the scenery it hosts an array of, what feels to be AAA designs for a brand new IP, that all players will enjoy.

    I pumped a lot of hours into this game, fell in love with the characters and the story - set in a post-apocalyptic environment that is different from the usual horror tropes that we see. I'll avoid posting spoilers but it truly defines how zombies or radioactive wasteland aren't always the go-to for a destroyed world.

    Finally, I would recommend that everyone gives this game a shot now that it is available on multiple platforms and no longer a PS4 exclusive.    … Expand

    2. Side quest are not just fetch quests. They have a decent story behind them. There's dialog and the characters are interesting enough. Does it go in depth like The Witcher 3? No. However, it's better than almost every other open-world games out there.

    3. Gameplay animations are exceptional for an open world games. At times it feels like you're playing Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Before Horizon Zero Dawn, I don't think any other game had this smooth movement and enemy animation in open world games except Assasin's Creed.

    4. Same can be said about the graphics. No open world looks like this. It's an Action Adventure game level gameplay and graphics in an open world game.

    5. Climbing towers to open map is actually fun. There are not 50-100 of them.

    The best part is how it all comes together. It did everything an open world game does and made it amazing.

    Finding the story behind it all was amazing. Wherever my camera went, I wanted to explore. The World is exceptionally built.

    The world Guerilla has built is easy to understand. Gameplay has clear concise instructions and it's strong. The story is straightforward but engaging. The graphics are just incredible.     This game is truly amazing. 1 thing that is done so well is you never feel restricted as a player. You always have full control over your character with the exception of cutscenes. Rather then just spam firing you have to pick off the weak points which makes sense when going against machines. You have a reasonable variety of weapons. My person favourite was the trip caster. I personally loved exploring the forbidden ruins and and finding about about the history of before the game was set. You will find in this game there is hours of optional content for you to enjoy rather then just the core missions. You can how ever skip all that and just play the story. Although I highly recommend you check out all the other stuff as it's really fun to do! This game is definitely 1 of the best single player games I have ever played! The hill climbing in this game wasn't great. If you can call it hill climbing. It was more glitch jumping up a hill. Mounts feel a bit slow aswell. Maybe other games seem similar in some ways - Monster Hunter, Assassin's Creed, Witcher 3, Far Cry, and so on, but this was my first experience with a game like this and I fell in love with the idea of setting traps and using arrows to kill robot animals, as weird (or dumb) as that sounds. The big boss fights really gripped me, and although the story was a little bit out there at times, it all felt real enough, so I found myself interested all the same. Killing a big beast with trip wires and well-placed arrows was satisfying. I should also mention that I am from the region that the game's setting is inspired by, so that earned some bonus points for sure. Great fun.… Expand

    This game has some really excellent combat with some great enemies. Most robot fights are extremely exciting. The story however is very generic. It starts out pretty well but devolves into a pretty bland and uninteresting story. Performances are stale and uninteresting as well.

    Love this gem of a masterpiece. Story is pretty unique and compelling, the cut scenes are also fantastic, gameplay is compelling and easy-to-learn. Aloy is an excellent female protagonist, and they were able to develop and flesh out her backstory in relation to the story and world of HZD. HZD was the title that got me interested in open-world games.

The general mechanics are a blast, stealth and ranged combat was made extremely fun with the use of a variety of different gadgets and traps at your disposal. However, the game certainly falls flat on its face with the extremely weak options for melee combat as you only get a pretty good spear right before the final mission of the game. Even so, the biggest drawback for me was the very lackluster open world which had me repeat the same repetitive tasks such as clearing out groups of bandits or machines, climbing towers and collecting plants and hunting animals in a draining experience with one of the worst every cases of open-world fatigue I have gotten. But if you stick to the main path the game remains very enjoyable and keeps you on your toes. While the story was a little confusing and stupid it still kept me interested on the origins of Aloy and the world from start to finish which is obviously positive. In conclusion this game is pretty good, however please do not expect this to be as brilliant as something like breath of the wild… Expand

I also find it hard to believe that robotic dinosaurs do not just instantly kill or why the game doesn't bother to explain regeneration which is a pet peeve of mine with any game that doesn't bother to explain it. Why are there levels in this game? Aloy seems to be wearing the same leather clothes and she faces creatures that can shoot missiles. Is it because she's level 80?

    It also would have helped to have more merchants selling ammo that didn't run out (they could have balanced this out by limiting the amount of money a player can carry) or at least had the material to make the ammo and how about a place to live because this game has saved points modeled after camp fires, why not a home? Also, don't expect to climb or parkour because you have to look out for climbing rope or bright yellow hand holds because reasons.

    All death animations are the exactly the same. Also, It would have been interesting to find people who ride normal horses and listen to their reasons why horses are better, such as being able to cross a river or encounter tribes that prefer robot horses because they can stand the cold, where horses can't.

    What I loved. All the details aside, the world of Horizon Zero Dawn is beautiful and the robot dinosaurs are well designed. I just can't help thinking this would have been better as a horror game. I mean dinosaurs are already deadly, put missiles and guns on them, would only make them horrifyingly deadlier.

    This is still a game worth experiencing but at a rental price or discounted price. The game is not hard by any sense. With all that said, 7 out of 10.    … Expand

Comparison to Witcher 3 is very exaggerated. Overall the game is great, main story line is on of the best in the whole game history, however, uninterestingness of side quests and repetitive side activities are the main flaws of the game.

    The game was great, apart from the developers trying forcefully ship Aloy with another character.
    I ignored all of his dialogue, skipped him on purpose. Sadly I couldn't find a way to kill him.
    And still some scenes with him can't be skipped, he participates in missions, which I can do alone.
    I don't get why it had to be so forced.

So, glad I played the game now that has a 60FPS patch for PS5.  Looks so fluid.

    Conclusion: Amazing characters & the game lore is fascinating! Gameplay is fun, but again I can't get pass at a girl shooting arrows at giant robots... but I guess someday I will come to terms with that part. Why can't she dig a futuristic version of a Stinger or Javelin and take those robots down with proper technology like she uses the focus? Maybe an assault rifle to take down the cultist? Nah, everything has to be done with a Bow, technology can be used in the game, just not for gameplay.     … Expand

    at the local independent used games store. It is a good game that is after you figure out how to
    use the circular pop-up menu to craft arrows potions upgrade weapons and armor. The initial
    tutorial cut-scenes are boring confusing self absorbed and too long. The graphics are good and an
    enjoyable part is the first time that one is able to sneak up override and mount a robot dinosaur
    horse to ride for faster travelling. Finding Easter eggs like a dilapidated Red Rocks music
    amphitheater is a surprising real world reference. The open world and fog of war features felt
    freeing and the campfire quick saves were handy to fast travel to previously visited locations.
    The one downside is that the game is too hard on medium settings because you can die often
    but there were not any obvious bounding box glitches to fall into. Using the map and focus to
    search for metal flowers and vantage points was satisfying. If the game had included a NPC
    non-player character as a constant companion it may have been more rewarding. Focus and enjoy.    … Expand

    When this game came out in 2017 I had little to no interest in it, however now with the release of the sequel and all the hype around it, I decided to check this one out. Horizon Zero Dawn is a really beautiful world that has been excellently crafted, it's very unique to have machines/robots completely dominate the earth, and those machines are definitely the highlight of the game. I love the designs of these machines from the Watcher to the Rockbreaker, they're all very cool and also a huge variety of them.

    Gameplay is both a hit and a miss, when it is at its best it's absolutely incredible, this is usually when fighting huge machines like the Stormbird or the Thunderjaw, these fights were amazing. However when the gameplay is at its worst, it can be incredibly annoying and frustrating, this was usually when fighting human enemies as I thought fighting humans didn't have nearly as much depth as fighting the machines. The camera can sometimes be pretty annoying as well, and can really mess you up in combat. However the combat overall is pretty good, nothing groundbreaking but it was overall fun and didn't bore me for the approx. 40 hours i played. Exploring was for the most part pretty fun, however the climbing was really boring as the only thing you do is point to where you want to jump and the game does it for you, but the visuals did make up for the climbing parts. The side quests were often interesting, some were forgettable and some were memorable, but considering I finished them all before finishing the main quest means they were definitely not boring.

    The story, similar to the gameplay was pretty good, the idea is very unique however I think the execution was pretty predictable, not bad necessarily but just pretty predictable. I like Aloy as a character, and some side characters were fun, but on the other hand some side characters were really forgettable and had really no impact on me, some side characters' death were so incredibly badly executed that it was honestly kind of funny, and some just didn't have enough impact. However despite all that the story was overall pretty good, and kept me intrigued for the most part.

    Horizon Zero Dawn is clearly a well made game, that has its issues, but the good outweigh the bad, and the result is a fun game with a very interesting concept.

    Combat is a boring war of attrition at any level above easy, and offers little intrinsic or extrinsic reward. Human enemies are incredibly hard to see when in combat at a distance. Melee combat against dinos larger than yourself is basically pointless and a mess - this ain't no dark souls bruv.

    Technically its incredible - if you want to ogle incredible graphics then this is the game (except for the cutscene lighting which was a poor stylistic choice). The world and atmospherics are incredible and its a shame that the game inside it is so poor.

    It took me two tries to actually like the game. In my first try, which was 3 years ago, I quit after two hours because I hated the story and its open world mechanics. I started the game again last month, hyped by the sequel being released, and I promised myself I would be more patient this time. Once the combat clicked, it was hard to put down.

    Taking on a Thunderjaw with everything in your arsenal on 'hard' difficulty level...Targeting parts, using tearblasters to strip it off its weapons and armor, anticipating where it would go and setting traps before the combat begins, the way the machine staggers and flinches every time you hit it with a blast bomb, the way it collapses dead at the end... Such an incredible joy. Word can't even describe it. Or taking on an invisible Stalker... Managing to nail the mofo down with ropecaster, and stripping it off its armor and stealth module, then dotting it with sticky bombs... OMG what a rush. The combat in this game is pure joy.

    The visuals are dope as well. A half-ablaze stormbird filling your entire vision in slow motion, especially when you're fighting at night with black sky in the background, with all its glory and detailed parts and modules and wings and angry face with red eyes, is a sight to behold. I caught myself many times just admiring the design of the machines mid-combat instead of actually fighting lol.

    But everything else feels like a chore. Here's what didn't work for me:

    The story. OMG the story. It was worse than cliche, so much that I was unable to watch the cutscenes from all the eyerolling I had to do, and I ended up skipping them totally. Great voice acting etc. but the story just didn't work for me.

    The main quest forces you to go to some indoor locations such as the ruins where you have to find and watch holograms for story progression. They were all copy-paste mazes with nothing interesting in them. Can developers please stop using holograms for exposition already?

    Because of the story and the dreadfully boring interiors, I was actually begging the game to let me be and go hunt machines in the wild.

    Cauldron dungeons, even though the boss fights at the end are great, and even though the color palette in the dungeons are pretty to look at, were boring and full of childish environmental puzzles. I wish they offered something unique.

    Using the spear wasn't fun at all. Not sophisticated enough for full engagement. It doesn't break or malfunction, there are only a few kinds, there are limited number of attacks and animations etc. I heard it's better in the sequel, and I hope so.    … Expand

But in a last attempt to save the earth A brave Woman named "Elizabet Sobeck" creates The most advanced AI "Mother Nature" AKA "GUIA" all but 2 machines you discover are created by "GUIA" to re-construct the world and bring its vast plants, animals, and water back, over hundreds of years, and when it's balanced humans would be released into the new, fresh world with the knowledge of their old ancestors Via a program of "GUIA", after around 12-13 months a breach in a vent was going to call the "Swarm" to the base of the creators of "GUIA" Elizabet Sobeck decided to take things into her own hands and repairs the breach before the swarm can destroy "GUIA" and the remaining human survivors.     It was a very enjoyable game, the story was intriguing and gameplay was decent. The world was well created and felt rewarding to discover new areas. But even with a wide variety of areas all the activities in those areas was exactly like the rest, nothing really stood out. An overall enjoyable game but I didn't feel like I wanted more after completing it.

    Besides the gameplay and dialogue, the story is the best part.

    This game has very strong gameplay loops. I was enthralled exploring the world and learning to engage the different enemy types. I think the world designers carry this game. I think if I had tried to do all the side content before the main story, I wouldn't have been so engaged. The weakest point of Horizon Zero Dawn is how they handle the story. The concepts of the world and what happened to create it are fantastic. The reason the story is happening right now? Terrible. Woefully under explained, and a lot of the story choices felt forced and not organic. The opposite of the world that was built. For a Science Fiction game, I feel like they did not think through a lot of the reasoning and consequences of things that happen in the "present" day of the game. This game would be a 2 or 3 if it were not for the sheer brilliance of the world that was created by the environment and combat teams.… Expand

    Eu adorei o jogo como um todo. O mundo aberto é maravilhoso, a história principal é muito cativante, os upgrades das armas e da personagem também são muito bacanas. A única coisa que deixa a desejar é na expressão facial das personagens.

    The unfortunate fact of Horizon is that most of what it does well, other games have done better, and they did it with a compelling who and where. This is the game you play after you’ve finished The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, and Far Cry: Primal. It is the greatest hits compilation of open-world games. Yeah, sure, you might want to own it, but the real connoisseur has the original albums.

    Horizon Zero Dawn has an unforgettable protagonist, world, story, visuals, soundtrack and gameplay. Due to minor issues with inventory management and quest selection, I cannot call it perfect but I can say it is absolutely worth your time.
