    its a pretty decent game yet i have no idea why it was considered game of the year worthy it just isnt good enough to be such highly acclaimed but yet again the game is still a good play even if a bit boring at times

    It's really satisfying. I wonder what will happen next. The only thing that caught my eye in this game was the main enemies. However, thanks to the satisfying combat system, they are not that frustrating as they progress.

    9/10 because of a bit boring way to travel between worlds - at the beginning its interesting but to the end of game I noticed that it takes a lot of time. Interesting idea, but...

    Kratos is the God of War and you feel like it. Excellent story, combat, and performance. Enemy design is thin, but the combat is that good and challenging enough that you gloss over that.

    The story is promising, but the short length doesn't allow for proper development of the relationships between Kratos, Atreus, and other characters. The ending feels rushed, leaving you wanting more.     For me, one issue with the game is the amount of climbing you have to do, and the tight corridors that are present to allow the map to load. While it doesn't ruin the gameplay, it can disrupt the flow and immersion of the game. Furthermore, the world design of locations besides Midgard and Alfheimr could have been more creative. While the places you discover in the first few hours are unique and interesting, as the story progresses, they become less and less so. The semi-open world design doesn't enhance the overall experience for me either, as it makes the game more bloated with an unclear focus on what to do. While the side quests are interesting enough, the other activities aren't.

    The combat in God of War is one of its strong points, with a fluid and responsive system that provides a variety of attacks and abilities to choose from. However, fighting multiple enemies can be frustrating due to the camera position and inability to cancel abilities. Additionally, the boss fights become repetitive over time, which is disappointing considering the potential for more creative and challenging encounters. Despite these flaws, the combat system still provides an enjoyable experience overall.

    The difficulty in God of War is unbalanced, with a significant difference between the enemies encountered in the main storyline versus those found throughout the world. While the enemies in the story missions are relatively easy to deal with, the enemies found while exploring are often much higher level and require a significant effort to defeat. This can make it difficult to fully explore a place without feeling like the game is gatekeeping the player. While challenging encounters can enhance the overall experience, the unbalanced difficulty in God of War can be frustrating and detract from the exploration aspect of the game.

    In conclusion, while God of War had its moments of brilliance, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The story could have benefited from more time to develop the relationships between characters, and the ending felt abrupt. However, the game's graphics are undeniably beautiful to look at, and the atmosphere of Midgard is truly immersive, transporting the player into the world of Norse mythology. The combat system is fluid and responsive, though at times frustrating, and the difficulty can feel unbalanced, making exploration less enjoyable.     Fantastic game overall and a must play on the PS4. I had a blast with this game and it really rewards you for exploration and leveling. This is a hard game, but well-balanced once you level up your gear and characters.

    This game gets so much right: it has an amazing story, great characters, fun combat, the music is probably my favourite aspect of the game, most of the side quests are fun, the acting performances are incredible, and the game still looks really impressive almost 5 years later - 9/10.

    The last time I played God of War it was on PSP, and what a change. No beat'em all anymore but a "light" Action RPG. The amount of attention and work put in this game is quite amazing. I played it on PS5 and 4K 60 FPS is quite the sweet sport there. Graphics are amazing given its age, it runs perfectly, zero bug.     I loved this game and there is no grind to move forward in the story. It has more of a relaxed progression that doesn't force you to follow the story nor does it force you to grind for hours to move forward. There is no real level scaling to obstruct your progress however, the biggest negative that took the fun out the game was the many hours spent trying to kill the Valkyries which areI loved this game and there is no grind to move forward in the story. This becomes very tedious as you can spend hours trying to kill one. For Trophy hunters id say think twice because you need to kill the Valkyries to get the Platinum. Some people find them easy but this also depends on your play style, but I personally gave up on the 3rd Valkyrie as it became too tedious for me too complete.… Expand

    One of the greatest games I’ve ever played. Insane graphics and world building. There’s so much to explore and there’s plenty of content after the game is over. And of course the performances and characters are outstanding with a super intriguing plot.

    Boring. Played once and thats it, the story feels unfinished, just put gow ps4: part one. Sometimes feels lime a chore to play it. The good thing is I realise that in ragnarok I'll just watch someone play it on youtube and save my money as its just storytelling playing some buttons. Why bother playing?

    Tytuł ogrywałem na PS5 i mogę powiedzieć, że jest absolutnie fantastyczny. To, na co zwróciłem uwagę, to świetnie napisany scenariusz, przez co do "God of War" za każdym kiedy włączałem konsolę, nie podchodziłem jak do typowej gry, tylko bardziej serialu. Graficznie, absolutny majstersztyk. Tak samo pod względem grywalności (nie chciało się odchodzić od konsoli).

Don't get me wrong, the previous GoW games were revolutionary to gaming, and some of my personal favorites. But the complexity and freedom this one gives you is on a completely different scale. A perfect set up for my personalI like this take on the God of War series. Instead of a simple closed world Hack n' Slash like the others, its a nice, exploration based open world masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, the previous GoW games were revolutionary to gaming, and some of my personal favorites. But the complexity and freedom this one gives you is on a completely different scale.     Unfortunately, the boss fights disappointed me a bit; some of them are nice but most of them are re-skinned mini bosses.

    I initially thought wow, it ticks all the blocks for a great game, then I played on and found it is actually very cookie cutter. If you took prince of Persia and transitioned it into a game for the LGBTQ community and it had an baby with mark ruffalo l, you would have something that resembles this.

    Finde es zu sehr in die Länge gezogen. Die ersten 3-4 Stunden fand ich so schlecht, dass ich es erst ganz lassen wollte, dann nahm die Story etwas Fahrt auf. Insgesamt Zu oft ein repetitives Spielgefühl, unterstützt durch die gleichen Animationen. (Ganz krass z.b.    TLTR: Das Spiel ist gut.

    Looks and plays great. Ludicrously challenging on the highest difficulty. Great character-building.

    But where it improved on predecessors, it also took away. The plot and characters are very toned down compared to the original games. Puzzles are completely missing. And what should’ve been combos were turned into runics.

    Oh boy! Where to begin?

    I guess the story:

    Fantastic, beautiful character development, funny moments, BOYYYYYYYY!!!!!! And of course... Kratos.

    The combat:

    The combat is really fun! Even though it's mostly spamming R1 and R2, but, you can feel the force throughout each attack.

    I have hardly anything bad to say about this game... But the puzzles could definitely use some more work...

    Amazing new type of game! Stunning graphics! Movie worthy story! Fluid and smooth gameplay! Just really enjoable and very immersive game. Also note worthy are interactions between characters which are very realistic and not atll cringe like in most games. The only thing that bothered me while playing this game was small variety of enemies and repetitive bosses but thats about it. 9/10 for me.

    The writing and story of this game can compete with any movie or series out there. The characters are compelling and the story interesting to say the least.

    It is a great singleplayer game with great game play, impresive graphics and a beautiful world to explore.

    This game is not adequate. The story is honestly quite deep, about a man trying to become a father, but I for the life of me could not care less. Combat is clearly trying to mimic other popular games, namely Elden Ring, which is a disgrace. Why would a game of this size be allowed to blatantly copy a master piece such as Elden Ring and not get sued into the ground? Bosses are uninterestingThis game is not adequate. The kid is super annoying, and never shuts up, and I wish there was a mute the kid option but alas there is none. Soundtrack gets being praised, but it's boring. Classical music is just that, classic, not modern at all. Where's the metal? I want to hear Metallica or Pantera when I'm slaying reskinned ogre #34, not a harp being played by a depressed 50 year old man. Main antagonist is the only part of the game that is even close to being decent, but even then he's kinda boring and only shows up for like 2% of the entire game.… Expand

    An absolute masterpiece of a game. Combat is super fun and mechanically sound. One of the best stories in gaming and a great father-son story as well. Of all the Sony games I've played, this one is easily my favorite.

    Great characters, wonderful story and I like the lore and how everything fits. Design an cinematics was perfect. However, my biggest pet peeve was the repetitive endurance to beat the Valkyries. Stop trying to please a group of gamers to make everything more difficult for the casual gamer. We all paid for it and we all want to have fun.

There are only 2 things that hold this game back for me. First is the enemy types. The enemy types in this game DO NOT vary at all. Throughout the entire story you encounter maybe 6 enemy types and some boss fights thatThis game is fantastic.     Well the original trilogy was better but still this is a perfect game
    The new gameplay and new kratos is perfect
    And the story is not perfect because it's about 10 hours and the game is 30 hours
    So you do stuff for 2 hours and see 30 minutes of story and repeat

    El mejor Exclusivo de la PS4 sin dud alguna, vaya juego, vaya gameplay, vaya historia y vaya todo, casi perfecto, el cambio de aire que supuso para la saga y lo bien que lo hicieron es sin duda para alagar a Santa Monica, espero que cuando pueda probar Ragnarok quede aún mas maravillado que cuando probe este God Of War, si aún no lo juegan lo recomiendo mucho, muchísimo

    Simplemente majestuoso, con el simple hecho de haber logrado cambiar por completo la dinámica del combate de los Gow anteriores merece esta puntuación, no exagero al decir que esto se puede notar simplemente al usar el arma principal (hacha leviathan) la sensación que da de que pueda ir y volver es única, sumando a muchísimos movimientos y combos que se abren con esta, la historia es másSimplemente majestuoso, con el simple hecho de haber logrado cambiar por completo la dinámica del combate de los Gow anteriores merece esta puntuación, no exagero al decir que esto se puede notar simplemente al usar el arma principal (hacha leviathan) la sensación que da de que pueda ir y volver es única, sumando a muchísimos movimientos y combos que se abren con esta, la historia es más profunda y nos da a entender que el personaje (Kratos) está cambiando, ha crecido y nosotros también, ya no es una matanza sin freno de monstruos, ahora lo motivación no es la venganza, pero eso no quita la única forma en la que Kratos sabe pelear, sigue siendo sangriento, sigue siendo excesivo, al final sigue siendo Kratos, pero con un papel muy distintos del que tenía en los anteriores juegos… Expand

    Absolutely incredible game in every way. Feels like a more graphically advanced, adult version of Zelda. The combat is as rewarding as any game ever made and is immensely satisfying. The only knocks are a relatively simplistic plot and a lack of world depth beyond Midgard which legitimately has 10 times the amount of goals as the other 3 explorable worlds.     All the references to the earlier games, the battle system, THE STORY(!!!), the characters, all you learn about nordic mythology, the RPG-System...
    I could go on for days, simply play it, it's by far the best game I've ever played. really. I really loved the first 3 parts, but this one hit's different

    A great reboot of a great Series. The characters are so cool and Interesting, the combat is great since you can use both, the leviatan axe and the chaos blades. The Story is so simple but just so great!
    but the bosses are mostly trolles are kinda boring, also the standart enemys are kinda repeating

Good story, decent combat that becomes tedious quickly, dialogue sometimes dubious, but generally alright, voice acting decent, yet what could be an overall sublime game, is detracted by a slow, and limiting pacing system. If I want to spend 30 seconds to a minute running in 'fast travel' or wait 2 minutes, idling on my phone, whilst climbing an elevator, then ill go the shops and wait in a line. I'm patient, but one can only endure so much.… Expand

    Was disappointed in GOW Ascension but with this new reboot it astonished me how this franchise revived the spirit of gaming in a new way with a new adventure, bosses and gameplay. Kratos looks older now with his son Atreus at his side and this game deserves all the credit is due with the additional challenges of battling all the valkeries you face as Kratos.
