It hit an emotional chord. I also personally really liked the no lock on system. I didn't think the game was clunky at all. There were some bugs like random npcs falling from the skies but it didn't hurt the experience.

I am giving this a 9 on here only because I can't do fraction ratings. Personally I would give this an 8.5. It's not the greatest game of all time, but it's very good. That said it is much closer to a 9 for me than an 8 so by default it gets a 9,

What can I say: beyond my expectations!
    Graphically beautiful.
The Game-play is easy to learn and well mastered. The soundtrack is just Fabulous. (Masaka Dono theme is just WoW) The story is well written, I did not get bored even once even in with the little stories. A very realistic open world with no unnecessary or inconsistent corners. Tsushima Island was very pleasant to walk.

It has been a long time since I had such a great gaming experience.

Ghost of Tsushima leaves as the last exclusive for the Playstation 4 and does it with a bang.

This game offers an absolute breathtaking journey with outstanding visuals, gameplay and story.

Ghost of Tshusima is a strong contender for GOTY and one of the best games the Playstation 4 has offered.

The story occasionally has some flaws and during combat portions, or even big combat portions of the game, the camera can cause you to take a crucial hit or it can be a bit annoying. With the big combat portions with many enemy’s I guess there’s not really anything else you can do, but it still can feel like it’s interfering or getting in the way of your gameplay. All in all tho, Ghost of Tsushima is a great game and while not perfect, it’s very close to perfect barring a few issues. One of the best open world games I've played since the Witcher 3. Oozes style, grace and beauty, fighting mechanics are easily the most thought out structure in the game with multiple stances, play styles and weapons to choose from.. exploration is absolutely breathtaking, how the environment was crafted and seamlessly put together is a gaming achievement. I cant stress how good this game is.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. LETHAL MODE REVIEW (Completed it, so don't tell me to "git gud").

8.5/10. A very good game; a franchise with a lot of potential. But not without frustrating issues.

    Easy stuff:
    1) Music and audio - great. no complaints.
    2) Visuals - astounding. every few seconds is screenshot-worthy.
    3) Acting - (played in japanese, can't imagine playing in english) very good.
    4) Gameplay - good. it's like assassin's creed, but it's the sword combat that sets it apart.
    5) Free DLC that is actually good.
    6) Game launched as a complete game, even before DLC.
    7) No abusive microtransactions.

    Cons:
Sword Combat. Again, very good in general, but there are issues that become prominent in Lethal Mode. Be warned, because it can be very frustrating.
    1) Enemies have homing, sliding feet while they do their combos. You do not when you do your combos. Rolling out of the way is rendered pointless. Your sidestep must be pixel-perfect. They should have instead added a stamina bar to prevent roll spamming, instead of making cheesy enemies.
    2) Enemy attacks are lightning fast, to the point that this game is not about reflex - it is about manipulation and anticipation. Attack windups are literally less than half a second. Red and blue glints are even less than less than half a second. Unless you're 24 (age of peak human reflex), this game is far, FAR too fast. The devs failed to consider the latency of the dualshock 4, plus the fact that the ps4 runs at 30 fps (even less at times). Put these things together and the game is simply too fast. Lethal mode was clearly not play-tested enough. Lightning fast attacks would be fun on 144hz, and a wired keyboard and mouse; but not on aging hardware like this. What made the Dark Souls games great was that it felt good to dodge and block attacks. It felt good to memorize and know the patterns of bosses. Ghost of Tsushima ruins that tried-and-tested formula by speeding things up way, way too much. What happens is you must spam attack to force enemies to block and respond with only a limited number of moves. This way, you are able to eliminate a lot of their unpredictable and unreadable combos. In short, it feels bad to lose in this game, not like Dark Souls.
    3) Sword Stances feel undercooked, visually don't make sense, and don't mesh well with stagger system. This one is difficult to explain, but these two things put together feel really, REALLY silly. Moon Stance Kick staggers Fat Guys a lot, but it doesn't Stagger much Smaller Guys? Powerful-looking Twirling Slash from Wind Stance hurts Spear Guy a lot, but nobody else? Nonsense. Awesome Water Stance flurry hurts Shield Guys a lot, but nobody else? It's arbitrary. They didn't think it through. Use a combo system and moves list instead.

    Other Cons:
    1) stupid banner collection. 80 banners hidden around the world. pointless padding.
    2) stupid firefly mechanic. the firefly is way, way too slow, plus it forces you to put on the Traveller's Attire, which sucks for combat, so you are forced to swap in and out of it.
    3) stupid plot moment in act 2's ending. very avoidable, unearned, and emotionally manipulative.
    4) stupid plot moment regarding poison in act 3. very dumb - every culture has poisons.

If you're looking for a good time, GoT will deliver. Good job, Sucker Punch devs. Hoping GoT 2 is even more awesome. There's still room to grow. It's refreshing to get a ps4 exclusive that can wash off the bad taste of TLOU2.

My first impression when booting up was that I where surprised by it´s low quality textures, quite hideous at times. But in my opinion, textures does not have anything to do with how good a game is. Even though some bad textures, the overall environmental fidelity of the graphics are masterpieces. Characters are okay, not a new Bloody Baron or Vaas but they do their part. The main story is quite good, with one or two good twists. Secondary questlines are also okay.
The game is also constructed with immersion in mind, the hud only ever shows exactly when needed to, minimaps or markers are not here. Instead you are guided by ingame phenomenons like the wind or animals. Love the focus on immersion.

Combat is where the game really shines. I usually don´t think to much about it, I often even find combat a bit boring. But GoS really nails the combat. It is so well balanced and skillfully constructed, it puts a lot of significance on the skill and concentration on the player. A really focused player can defeat several enemies of high lethality, but let your thoughts wander away for half a second and you are gutted.

If you love Horizon, Red Dead or Samurais in general you´r gonna love Ghost Of Tsushima!

Negative for me is the combat as I'm not sure what they are trying to do maybe with a mix of souls and witcher combat but I personally think they should have went with the Shadow of Morder route style combat for instance changing stance to face one type of enemy i.e. shield enemy and the camera suddenly decides nope heres a spear enemy instead which did become frustrating after changing said stance and having to constantly fight the camera as well.

Overall the key word is fun and for large parts of the game I had so much fun with the story, characters, the world and when the combat worked.

The combat is excellent. The variety of enemies you can fight with different combat styles added a lot to keep things fresh over the course of the 35-40 hours I had in the game. The stealth adds some different options to go about the combat as well and is only "forced" a handful of times.

The story isn't the best I've played but is very solid. A good job is done in getting you to understand the tough choices that Jin has to make over the course of the campaign and I think by the end most people would side with him. The voice acting is not up to the level of Naughty Dog but still good.

The side quests could have used a little variety in my opinion. There could have been some quests that you needed to find "X" flowers or gather "X" supplies/metals/etc. instead of the mostly combat focused quests. The only other thing that I would like to see improved is a way to dismantle charms. I had so many unused charms at the end of the game including some duplicates that they just wasted away in my inventory.

For a first stab at getting into the open world RPG game, Sucker Punch did an incredible job. i hope to see a sequel or another similar game from them in the future.

A solid 9.3 for me with the score being impacted by
1: Japanese dub missing lipsync, had to play it in English in the end since it was driving me crazy
2: Japanese voice sounds great but is too anime for me, the dialogue should be toned-down to reflect a less anime style and a more realistic tone.
3: Minor score decrease due to some activities that tended to be a little repetitive but they pushed you to explore and view the wonderful world that SP created (I have made more screenshots than ever ~2 GB).

Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
