    Whatever happened with originality? It's so similar to AC games, but then again it's worse than AC games. Worse because it's just not that unique. You are dude with sword and you are in Japan: the Game.

    Very inferior version of what Ubisoft has been doing with open worlds, and a very poor interpretation of Japanese culture and history. Gameplay wise it is very shallow compared with games like the soulsborne series.

The Japanese paint job that was slapped on the same old open world mechanics can't stop the game from feeling incredibly generic after a couple of hours. Combat is too easy, camera is clunky, too.     Inferior version of basically any Assassin's Creed. Graphics are cool, but what else? There's nothing interesting to do in this open world. People who try to say it's better than AC games seem to forget that big part of AC games is parkour.

    Honestly surprised the user sore is so high for this game. I thought it was just ok. Ghost of Tsushima offers some pretty landscapes, but they are lifeless. The movement is relatively clunky, and it really could have benefitted from some refinement there. It's a game where there are elements of ninja-like stealth, but the movement is extremely one dimensional. You hide in the grass, stayHonestly surprised the user sore is so high for this game.     This game is not a 10 at all. Its an extremely average game. When I first started out playing I did see its potential that unfortunately got boring fast. I'm just glad I purchased it on disc because I ended up trading it in.

    Feel free to give it a go but much better games are available than this!

    Now the game itself:
    Story is mediocre. Jin is one hell of a boring protagonist. Side quests are uninteresting and the characters are kinda empty. Nothing catchy here. The game itself feels grindy way to often.     Another problem is the difficulty. The game is too easy in my opinion. But that's not really the point.
    This can't match with rpg standards of the Witcher 3 or something. Sucker Punch did a good job but the last of us 2 is better in every aspect if you want to compare it.    … Expand

    Bought it with 60 dollars and gotta say i don't like it at all. Very disappointing. Story is very generic, but my main issue is that character is not in center of screen. So playing it really makes my head hurt. So just before you buy it make sure you are able to play game where character is literally in the corner of screen. I have never seen it done like that.     Unplayable horrible aim movement. So sluggish and time consuming that every single time you want to look at any direction, which is several hundreds of thousands to a million times on one play though, it takes full second till anything starts really moving.     This game could be amazing but many nonesense dialogues, weak combat mechanics and a terrible camera make it look like a rushed product. To be honest you could overlook the first issues but the camera is really, really bad, worse than demon souls just to be clear :/ i really hope they do something about.

    Very, very disappointed. Game looks great but it has loads of filler and the story and writing is poor imo. Combat is very easy and gets old quickly. Camera angle is very clunky. Game feels very dated, if it came out 5 years ago I think it would have been received much better. Disappointed.

    Para mí parecer, es un videojuego muy aburrido que se hace largo a partir de las 10 horas de juego. Las misiones son super repetitivas y el ir de un sitio a otro se hace muy pesado. El personaje principal no tiene ningún carisma ni personalidad. Eso sí la ambientación es increíble y acompañan los gráficos.

    Sorry but this game is not for me, i seen the trailer, and the gameplay, and it turns out boring and somewhat downgrade, almost the same downgrade like ubisoft, the story is just ordinary, there's not hing that really made me interested on this, gameplay is super crap, graphics is just ok, i don't know if this a rip off, but if you ask me, i do not like it, and i do not recommend it.

I think it's an open world game too much limited, it took me 'bout 20 hours to rescue Shimura, hours that seemed endless clearing Mongolian camps in Izuhara like a Far Cry, the story had excellent potential, but it is poorly told, Everything is going very well, and one mission later everything goes very wrong, I did everything I could without using stealth, I would have liked that the use of stealth or face-to-face combat had consequences in the story and the characters, like Dishonored does, the way how is limited by camps that aren't your level is also very abrupt, with deluges of arrows coming from… non-existent bows? please. I have completed it 100%, and I have felt all this as an rpg player and a lover of Japanese culture, artistically it is amazing, but in terms of playability I don't like it.… Expand

Only reason it has so many positive reviews is because people were making thousands of fake accounts, so they could beat last of us 2.     Bought this game because it had 9.3 score on user review, I played the game for 15 hours now I can definitely tell u this is a typical boring repetitive assassins creed game. DONT BUY IT , PEOPLE ARE OVER HYPING THIS **** GAME

    So I played the intro section and a few minutes more and I was bored. Really bored. I just got an old Monster Hunter a few days ago and it was more entertaining in 5 minutes than this was in an hour. So basically this feels like a more boring, less fluid, worse looking version of Gujian 3. I have played a few hours of Gujian 3 and it has left me    I'm pretty surprised at the score here.

    The game felt like a film with button presses and sluggish action. Now I can deal with this type of thing, I really enjoyed Beyond Two Souls but the character, this Jin guy, I didn't want to be him, he was so (and I know I'm repeating this word) boring. I just wanted him to get killed off. I love Samurai, I love Japanese things and this is a stunning game but that is it. This Jin guy was like an annoying little millennial **** of a Samurai. There is honour and there is being a bell end. There is a fine line and he crossed it. Jumped up and down on that line.

    GoT is a bit like pulling a model on a night out and getting her home to find out the beef curtains be smelling more like a 2 week old tuna butty than a prime cut.

    As if the immersion of being in the shoes of a character I wanted to punch wasn't game breaking enough. The PS4 started up its propeller every 30 seconds, sounding like it was ready to launch a NASA rocket.

    So if you want a historical Asian style game with good action and stunning graphics. Personally, for me, Gujian 3 is way better.

    I give a point for the bloody brilliant graphics.

    -9 for bad characters, story, gameplay and making my PS4 fan work it's ticket to the extreme. I don't really remember the sound being good, or bad. I'm guessing it was probably just OK. Maybe I just couldn't hear it over the frigging fan that was only recently dismantled and cleaned out.    … Expand

With most of your time being spent walking, traveling or resource gathering to make sure the player spend plenty of time looking at the graphics.. The story us dry and none of the characters are even interesting let alone likable. Character needs to be in center of the screen or slightly left, NOT completely out of center. Overall, it's overhyped game. I didn't like it and i almost feel that i wasted my money.     Some good graphics but some not so good textures too. I like the wind system.
    Combat starts out really fun, but after a while, it becomes repeative and the game as a whole feels very samey too. I really wanted to like this but it's missing in more than a few areas.

There are main quests, side quests, claimed sites to free from mongols, artifacts to find. After you killed anyone you turn around and suddenly every corpse is    I almost finished act 1 and are bored.

    Everything just repeats the way we have seen in thousand other casual open world minimap grinding games.

    The looting is extremly boring and simplified. Its just thousand lines here, thousand steels there, find enough and upgrade your only weapon again and again.
    Everything is just PREDICTABLE. How undemanding can you be ?

    The only interesting part is the lore and the combat system, well.
    If you had some beers, play it, the positive aspects may be enough to keep you happy for a little while.
    But its not a "wow whaaat its sunday already ?!?!" game.

    It does have a Ubisoft open world vide to it tho, but if you look past that, it is hours upon hours of play.
    You can play it either as a samurai, full blown standoffs etc, or as a ninja. sneaking up and poisoning people. It affects the weather ! play as a ninja a lot and it will storm, play as a samurai, the sun will shine.
    Kurosawa mode is also fun ( old samurai movie style after the director Kurosawa)
    Does it have glitches? yes but you reeeeally have to look for em.
    Legends mode is fun and the new game + is awesome.
    o and for the new players, for the end ( and a few inbetween) get a LOT of tissues, cause sucker punch hammered it home with the japanese/chinese ending styles.

    One thing that bugs me, and its just one. is that although they made japanese voicelines for this game, they did not match the mouth movement. its an irk.    … Expand

    It's as if you take all the history, samurai culture and beautiful cinematography by Kurosawa or Kobayashi and all you manage to produce is kitsch, shallow and boring superhero thing set in 13th century Japan with a poorly made black and white filter option.

    If someone decides to play this game ONLY because he/she sees this 9.3 user score is gonna be VERY disappointed lol.
    Environment and landscapes are the only pros, the rest is all mediocre, from the combat to the story. The game is often buggy, enemy NPC are really dumb, stealth system is 3/10, i was expecting a lot more from this game, given all the hype

    This game failed it's hype! pretty scenes but sterile. No life, no nothing but a landscape and some weird combat. Compare AC to this and the Ghost falls flat. Wasted my time and money.

    it's the most overrated game i've ever seen in my lofe, it's full of glitches its combat system is hell of boring battles people only liked it because they love japanese stuffs like samurai, ninja, anime, japanese culture, etc...
    i really find it an average game, why all the fake rates? the only thing good in this game is its story nothing else!!

They released the game unfinished and held back the MP, bad move. It’s going to be a boring MP anyways will get old like they all do.

    The multiplayer is a neat idea but the missions are something you are gonna play once and you forget about them and horde mode (even at its highest difficulty settings) gets really boring. I didn't try raids but I think that they won't be as different as the other modes included there.

    I give here a 4/10 to counter the overwhelming unfair positive reviews this game got from the thousnad of weebs, in reality this game is a 5/10 or 6/10.    … Expand

    You cannot use uchigatana, spear, naginata or other samurai weapons.

    •This is a samuri game and there is no honor system.

    •Nothing you do in the game matters at all to the plot or outcome.

    •Dialog options are minimal and have NO effect on the game.

    • The game is comically easy even on hardmode.

    •Waterfall graphics are TERRIBLE.

    •Every mongal camp and farm is a copy paste with nothing interesting or different about any of them.

    •Unskippable dialog from the 80th peasant you save saying the same boring line is awful.

    •There is absolutely no penalty for dying whatsoever.

    •Many cutscenes simply fade to black and have only sound effects. Is this 2007?

    •The plot is boring and predictable.

    •Ryuzo betrays you because his men are supposedly "starving" ...on an island you cant walk 10 feet without tripping over a boar and a deer. •Only 2 animals you can actually interact with for hides in the entire game. Boars and Bears. Really?

    •Very limited selection of meaningful gear.

    •All swords only cosmeitc . All hats and masks only cosmetic.

Without last of us 2 this game would have been forgotten, even tho it is already forgotten. Only bots are giving it 10/10, but hardly anyone actually plays it. Ironically this overhype somehow convinced some people that it's actually something special.

    The combat system is awful and the storytelling is not catchy at all. this just feels like a game from 6 years ago, in its best it is just another assassins creed! the environment is beautiful though.

    Visuals: Its really disappointing to see a game that takes place on one of the most beautiful places on earth miss the bar graphically, compared to other triple A games such as Last of us Part ll this game looks pretty mediocre. The amount of cut out cut scenes that were just black screens is disgusting, during multiple cut scenes, Jin was not even moving his mouth while talking. Overall the visuals are just meh, nothing stood out to me.
    Game play: While the game play was cool at first, it got repetitive extremely quick, with only 2 assassination animations, extremely easy combat, and some of the worst A.I it was hard to be engaged at all. You could assassinate people within 10 ft of a guard and he doesn't see or hear anything, it was some of the worst programming for A.I's i have ever seen. The stances were cool but then just became a nuisance having to switch ever 5 seconds. The duels are a weak attempt at trying to capture the hardness of dark souls but in the end its just flat out boring. There was one move that the A.I spammed all the time and it was a poke. This move reached almost full screen, had extremely fast start up, was unblockable, and hit for 90% of your health even with maxed out armor. The only way to avoid it was to jump and even then it would still hit even when i was above the swordsman's head or to parry which was extremely hard to do and the parries did even register half of the time. Combat was just not fun and took up time.
    Glitches: Don't even get me started on the disgusting amount of glitches. Some of them were
    Characters mouths not moving when talking
    Movement glitches that make you randomly fall
    block button not registering against move that were blockable
    parry registered only 60% of the time
    Not being able to run
    not being able to switch stances, equipment or weapons
    taking damage before cut scene is over
    and this is just naming a few.
    Overall talking about the game in full and all of its flaws would take forever so in summary, it has combat and gameplay that is ripped of from other story games, the worst story i have ever played, awful writing and characters, countless glitches, and graphics that don't even reach the bar.    … Expand

    It was a mistake buying this game. It is full of bugs, NPC's IA really bad... the only good thing about this game is that the island is beautiful... but the game is just bad. Stealth does not work either and the story is boring.

    My only explanation for the user score being 9.2 is that the majority of gamers love Japan because anime is from Japan, which makes them weebs (because let's be honest, every anime is weeb, except Castlevania that's not Japanese), which makes them unable to objectively see anything involving Japan which makes everything 10 out of 10 IGN.

    If those individuals were able to see things clearly, they would have no problem noticing all those major flaws which make the game look more like an indie title than what it actually is.

    A few examples:
    - One door opening animation that's repeated every single time you or any other NPC tries to enter any building with shoji entrance. (Now imagine following 2 NPCs into a building and seeing that 3 times in a row in 5 seconds)
    - Pathfinding that makes NPCs run in straight lines till they hit the edge of their path, so they could unrealistically turn 30 degrees and continue in another straight line.
    - Dull stealth gameplay which in combination with maybe even worse enemy AI that doesn't know how to behave after you break their line of sight results in one of the least enjoyable experiences I've ever had in any game that offered stealth.
    - repetitive side activities that make you constantly follow foxes, birds that get stuck in every single tree or rock (just like any other animal you encounter) that appears in their way, or the most annoying old fart ever created as a game character that howls the word THOMOEEEE every 2 sentences.
    - Interactivity with the open world that includes only following NPCs, clicking on prompts to investigate, sitting down to click on predefined sentences, taking your clothes off to bathe, and climbing up 1997 platformer-looking stumps on a rock.
    - No interesting or genuine characters except some of them during the duels that just look cool for a few seconds before you kill them, and after defeating 3 of them you quickly notice that there's not much variability in their moveset, so it becomes another routine activity.
    Other than that, next to the THOMOEEEE shouting passive-aggressive moralizing grandpa is a bloodthirsty lesbian running around in samurai armor (at least her storyline is not that bad), and another old fart preaching honor, disciprin, and toradishon also every 2 sentences for a change, not even speaking of the protagonist himself, whose personality is at best 1% of commander Shepard.

    I may have forgotten about a half of things that had some negative impact on my experience from the game, nonetheless, it's a boring stereotypical adventure that only looks nice and has some impressive combat mechanics (in case you play how the developers want you to, which I suggest, otherwise you'll break the game) that would've been pretty cool if a game called Sekiro hasn't already been released. However, not to only insult everything this game stands for, it's pretty funny at the beginning that it won't let you enter stealth, because you're a samurai, therefore you need to introduce yourself and your whole famiry to everyone you decide to attack.
    Also, to my disbelief, the game has one game-changer, and it's the wind mechanic that completely eradicates the necessity for any kind of HUD elements, which is something other games should learn from... But again, in those games at least you can find an epic quest in the corner of the map instead of a retarded banner to upgrade your saddle that nobody ever in the history of gaming cared about.

    Unfortunately, regarding new gameplay mechanics introduced after the intro, there is only a grappling hook. But it's not just any grappling hook - It's the least satisfying grappling hook out of hundreds of games that started implementing grappling hooks in their games 5 years ago, when it was cool. Not counting upgraded combat moves, it's all you encounter throughout its 30-hour campaign filled with repetitive missions to ultimately chase down and kill an Asian version of Steven Seagal in a way that the shogun doesn't like, so he bans you from writing haiku and drinking sake for the rest of your life, because that's what samurai did when nothing was happening.

    Considering the number of Japanese names in the final credits, which is close to 0, despite it just being not a good game, it's not even close to being authentic, and I'd gladly change it for a million Naughty Dog LGBTQ dramas in an instant.    … Expand

There is not a single goal that is worth any effort. Side quests are just laughable and totally the same. Go    Ok. A great anticipation followed by an equally great disappointment. Lets just be quick alright?)

    You wont ever feel challenged during a fight or immersed during an exploration of this truly beautiful, but empty world. There is no loot. There is not a single goal that is worth any effort. Side quests are just laughable and totally the same. Go there - kill some mongols - done. Hoku - baths - bamboo stands and other activitites help only a little bit. Petting an occasional fox brought some joy but thats it.
    - Story
    I can hardly recall a game that has a poorer and more primitive story than GOT. Even games like bloodborne or DS, even though not telling a single piece of story to a player managed to create some sort of meaning inside a game. Not here sadly. I am not even comparing GOT to titles like AC, Uncharted etc. etc.
    - Music
    Too ambient to be able to create an atmosphere. Just listen to a Diablo 1, Witcher 3 or TES Oblivion OST and you ll know what im talking about. Music is essential for the atmosphere - in GOT music is just there.
    - Atmosphere
    Non existent here. You wont ever feel anything special, you ll never want to live in Tsushima or even visit it.
    - Camera...ohhh that camera....The words i want to use explaining camera in this game should not be used publicly.
    - Dialogues
    Whoever wrote those "long and meaningful" dialogues should be sacked immediately. Do people really converse in 2-4 words sentences? I know its kinda Japanese thing to put as much information into a shortest phrase, but God, it is so boring.

    Overall i had to force myself to finish the game, to explore every single landmark and objective in the game, hoping that something will stir inside of me. But no. It is as incredibly beautiful and perfect graphically as its boring.    … Expand

    The best samurai game in a long time and a great fun for all, who love action. Love for Japan and its history is a big plus, but its knowledge is not necessary to enjoy every minute of this beautiful game. [Issue#305]

    Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

    Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
