The world is so beautiful, the effects and lighting is wonderful. Maybe they really nailed the Kamakura Period on how it looks at that time. Damn I really missed my horse there "Sora".     I can't believe this only got an 83 reviewer score. This game is beautiful, fun, and realistic! This was one of the few games I decided to go full platinum trophy on and I'm not a hard-core gamer. I highly recommend, especially if you like history and Japanese culture

    I think this might be my favourite game of all time. A true piece of art that's exposition nearly brought me to tears. I haven't even really followed the story that much. It's just a perfect game that perfectly delivers the developers intent. It must be an amazing feeling for the team. I would live my days happy if I was part of its creation. Absolutely brilliant!

    what an accomplishment Sucker Punch put together here. masterful story telling with masterful gameplay mechanics. I actually got to play the entirety of the game on the PS5 version, and what. an. upgrade. i never do photo mode but there was instances i had to stop and take in the scenery as if i was there with Jin. You know when a game is gem when the side missions them selves dont feelwhat an accomplishment Sucker Punch put together here. masterful story telling with masterful gameplay mechanics. You know when a game is gem when the side missions them selves dont feel repetitive and tedious....it damn near made me want to discover and see everything. so many different techniques and major upgrades for Jin and even the horse, from the armor and its color to the katanas, all the way down to the different abilities and samurai stances to master. get used to hearing the words "Samurai', Lord Sakai" Tsushima" and "Ghost" that would be my "complaint" of the game. Relationships end, new ones build, many sacrifices were taken, Jin Takes the samurai code and flips it on its head. theres a thin line between morals of a samurai and doing what NEEDS to be done as the ghost. the entire game was a kodak moment from start to finish.… Expand

    Amazing gameplay, story and a fantastic combat system. The ranking is also very creative.

    Awesome free roam game. This is one game I would absolutely recommend.

    Graphics is also very good.

    I have more than 60h already and I still have plenty of stuff to do. The world is beautiful and everything with it. The map is not just a huge blank space but you have many collectables and fights along the way.

    2020 Game of the year in my opinion. The visuals of this game were absolutely stunning, the landscapes and world were very realistic and immersive. The combat system and use of stances was exciting taking it a step above the systems we see in most games now. The story was deep and intriguing despite being fairly slow at time.     One of the best stories ever told through a video game. The combat is tight and surprisingly in depth, after doing literally every mission and clearing every mongol camp in the game I still wasn't bored of the combat. The game allows you to choose how to go about combat most of the time, making it as varied as you'd like.

    This game is amazing I enjoyed playing the story I couldn’t put it down. all of the characters you meet are awesome and their stories are even better. The story gets even better when progress I highly recommend this game if you want to play a game that has a lot of content and multiplayer is awesome as well

    Good - I like how the game uses wind has a navigation indicator rather than the traditional map or bar. - I like how fast quick travel is.     - the game is absolutely stunningly beautiful. I would find myself standing there just admiring how the lights reflects off of each blade of grass and how it reflects off of the ocean. And how the wind interacts with the plant's life it's also serene.

    - it's interesting to see Jin struggle between the samurai code of frontal combat versus the thieves method of stealth assassination. Should he make his uncle proud by keeping the code or break it in order to get past certain areas more smoothly?

    - the sound of each sword swing into the opponent's flesh feels very lifelike, and as if you are swinging really in the hands of a skilled Samurai slicing through your enemies like chopping up a piece of steak. The injured and death animations of the enemies are also very realistic, as well as their bloodstatter.

    - the structure and the gameplay style isn't particularly anything new, but the setting and the accuracy the developers paid attention to in regards to feudal Japan is absolutely incredible. Which plays a big part in my enjoyment of the game. Like the grapple, the climbing, the stealth, and in some way even the combat I've experienced in other games, like assassin's Creed, uncharted, and sekiro.

    - I was playing with a fan blowing in front of me and it actually enhanced the feeling whenever I swiped up to summon a gust of wind for navigation.

    - when the sword fights go smoothly and I pair every single attack and Dodge and counter successfully, it feels extremely satisfying, like I'm a badass samurai.

    - I'm glad this game makes the walk speed of the protagonist the same as the ally's. In many games the Ally has a fixed lock speed and the game forces me to tilt the stick at a certain distance to match the speed. In this game, it is so much more convenient when the Ally will Sprint if I Sprint, and walk if I walk.

    - kenji's side quest is a nice comic relief to the seriousness of all the other quests.

    - the game makes it really easy to see what upgrades are available.

    - although deflecting arrows do not take skill, since I'm just holding one button. It's still really cool to watch jin walk forward slowly, then immediately speeds up when he deflects an arrow, and imagining the impending doom that's enemy must feel as he sees jin approach.

    - the gameplay is very very customizable, in the sense that you can learn techniques that cater to your playstyle, wether defensive or offensive.

    - I really like the debates the game portrays in terms of whether a person should fight with honor or use whatever deceitful trick up his sleeve to win. It makes me think about competitive gaming, and how so many players would fight with "honor" and frown on camping and cheesy tactics. At the end of the day, I think a player should be allowed to use every tool the game offers to win. If a cheesy tactic turns out to be the dominant one, then there is a flaw in the game's design, unless that is what the developer intended.

    - the haiku sections, although are simple, the game makes it very serene.

    Bad

    - sometimes the camera angle goes into a really bad position because there's no lock on system in this game. Sometimes it goes into a position where I cannot see the enemies attack animation, which led me to get attacked even though I was ready to Parry.

    - sometimes climbing down a wall is annoying because I hold down to climb, but there may be a small platform that breaks the climb and I end up walking off the platform and falling to my death. It wasn't clear that the platform was not a climbable ledge until I dropped on for that split second, leaving me no time to react by letting go of the joystick.

    - I don't understand why ryozu don't hunt for food for his men when there is so much wildlife. Bears, deers, boars, foxes. He would go as far as to burn his own people than to hunt for animals? from a logical point of view it just doesn't make sense.

    - there's no way to see the bow cool down meter unless I aim with the bow, which is inconvenience during the heat of a battle.

    - the chain assassination technique should allow me to use Square to chain assassinate. Because when I use triangle to chain assassinate, The prompt doesn't always show up until I am right next to the enemy, meaning if the enemies are not close enough for me to chain assassinate, then I end up doing a heavy strike, which blows my cover and screws up stealth, just because the enemies are a bit further apart than what is required by the chain assassinate technique.

    - they really need to slow down time a lot more when cycling between gadgets. There's way too many.    … Expand

    This has to be one of the best games I’ve ever played. The sheer beauty of this game sets it apart from most games out there. I’ve had a ton of fun playing this game and there are plenty of side quests to keep you busy for hours. Definitely a must have for any PlayStation owner.

    My favorite game of 2020. Combat is great, the game looks phenomenal, the story is also great and it's one of the few games which has a fast travel system that you don't want to use, on top of that the duels are amazing and are easily my favorite part of the game.

Secondly, hard mode isn't very hard the combat is almost too intuitive, I think i've only died twice outside of the duels and while it's cool being extremely overpowered, I would like more of a challenge, like why not have enemies as skilled as the people you're against in the duels in the regular combat loop? because the duels are eeeeeextremely fun. I still have other nitpicks but they are super minor.

    BTW Those nitpicks are the only thing stopping the game from being my absolute favorite of all time, everything else is an A+    … Expand

    Some of the quests may be a little repetitive but this is one of the most beautiful games ever created. The main story will draw you in for hours upon hours and have you wanting even more at the end.

    the art direction is phenomenal. i see a lot of comparison to assassins creed which really is a shame as ubisoft has watered down open world adventures games so much that people cant appreciate an excellent game, because it shares some of the same tropes as ubisofts yearly franchise.

    I created this account just so I can leave this game a review. Absolutely beautiful game with deep gameplay mechanics. Can’t even comprehend how it’s score is in the 80’s. This game is a definite must play and I can’t wait to see what Sucker Punch has in store for the future.

    Love this game! If you're reading this, buy the game already! Best game of the PS4 generation. It takes a bit to get used to the fighting style but once you do you realize just how amazing the fighting style is. You really do feel like you're a badass samurai in feudal Japan. The story shines just as well as the graphics. All of the characters have great story arcs, this game is top notch!

    I honestly registered on metacritic just to say - This is the most beautifully made game I have ever played and probably ever will. I've spent over 30 hours on it so far and I still can't get over the beautiful scenery, graphics, the whole game experience, satisfying combat... Absolutely amazing...The fact that like a true samurai I can also make haiku, it's absolutely awesome.

    One day I told my mom's friend what ps4 game to buy me (cuz she wanted to get me a present) and i said the last of us 2 or dark souls. They didn't have any. In the last second, i remembered this samurai game and said "Ghost of tsushima idk". Popped it in when she came and couldn t leave for 2 hours until i had to go eat. Just, a masterpiece. Favourite game of all time

    I will begin my story with the fact that the game fully met all my expectations from it. Game graphics and graphic design are of an incredibly high standard. The plot is good, but not good. Lots of fighting styles. I liked how the developers did the side missions.

    There is wonder about this game when playing it for the first time and for me even on the second time playing. It is one of the best open-world games made. The combat system works really well and seems fair overall so you feel you know when you have messed up which can be really difficult to get right in these types of games but it works    This is without a doubt a 10/10 game.

    It is one of the best open-world games made.

    The combat system works really well and seems fair overall so you feel you know when you have messed up which can be really difficult to get right in these types of games but it works really well here.

    The graphics are fantastic and the world just looks amazing, especially with the ps5 update, however, even when I played this on ps4 it looks absolutely fantastic. You can clearly see the attention to detail, care and compassion which has gone into making this game.

    That includes the amazing music track which really just suits the game 100%. My only slight grip would be some of the story elements and how things unfold, however, that's a personal preference and overall the story is strong and delivers what it sets out to achieve.

    All in all, I can highly recommend this game it is something any game player should look to experience for themselves.

    (I have been Travelling around Japan as of writing and I can see they have done their homework and where they have got their inspiration from. They have done Japan proud with this game based on their culture!)    … Expand

    This isn't a game. This is goddamn art. Jesus Christ. Best game I have ever played. And trust me, I have played the Witcher 3. If you love the witcher 3. You WILL love this game. This just officially becomes my favourite game of all time. Hats off to you, SuckerPunch.

    Best game since whicher 3 or Last of us part 1.... its like a glass of ice water on a 102 degree day after playing last of us 2!!! Seriously i mean it....its really great. Highly recommend.

    This game can br repetitive if you're trying to get the platinum, but if you ignore all that and just play through the story... It is one of the best stories in a game I have experienced.

    The gameplay mechanics take a bit of learning but as soon as you get the hang of it, you'll be taking down enemies with ease.

    Ghost of Tsushima ist wunderschön und perfekt in Szene gesetzt. Die Geschichte dahinter ist sehr gut erzählt und die Handlungen verständlich. Offenbar hat man sich auch gut mit japanischen Traditionen beschäftigt.

    First platinum trophy ever, I've never been one to 100% a game but the world and combat was so good by the time I finished the game I was only short a few trophies short. It did anything "groundbreaking" but does everything right in being a perfect game

    Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

    Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
