Telltale Games has it out of the park with this one. Game of Thrones has a very deep story that will keep you wanting more. The characters feel so real and you can't help but form a bond with your favourites. The only thing that is wrong with this game is that you can't play it all at once. A must buy for all Game of Throne fans, plus any that are thinking of getting into this series.

Having played through Telltales The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 and the Wolf Among Us I had high expectations for the Game of Thrones adaptation, I was not disappointed. I have heard great things about the Game of Thrones television series and I am yet to have watched any of it, I was not at all interested in watching it but after playing this amazing game I will be watching through the entire series up to date. You play as three characters, Gared Tuttle, Ethan Forrester and Mira Forrester (I believe that's Mira's second name), they are all three great characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes where I played as Gared, he is by far my favourite of the three, then Ethan then Mira, throughout all Telltale games I have never encountered scenes as tense and never had choices as hard as the ones in Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron From Ice. The art style is great but telltales point and click gameplay is as mediocre as any other of their games but this doesn't detract from the amazing story and experience, in my opinion this episode is perfect and I can't wait for the second. If you enjoyed any of Telltale's other games like Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us, this should be an immediate buy for you, same goes if you're a Game of Thrones fanatic. The 2 hour episodic format Telltale is known for works perfectly to weave an intricate story of rich dialog only to creep you out or take your breath away as soon as you think you're comfortable. This is a staple in GoT and it certainly holds true here. Yes, the characters you know and love are there. Yes, the real actors' voiceovers are as good as on the show. Yes, New characters you get attached to are never truly safe from death. Graphics are the same style as other Telltale games but have a decidedly brushed on paint feel this time, could be more realistic at times but it still works well and can be very striking at times. Great start to the series, recommended! Expand

Graphics 7.5: The art direction here for the most part is inspired, though with little deviation from Telltale's previous titles over the last couple years there is some animation within the within here and there that feels janky and disconnected.

Longevity: The episode lasts just above 2 hours, I do not rate longevity of episodic games until the full package has been released, but what you get here is sizeable enough assuming Telltale can keep to their release schedule, this is a nice appetiser.

Gameplay 8.0: The gameplay is most reminiscent of The Walking Dead season 2, The gameplay is a series of button presses, quick time events and choices. Telltale is certainly at the top of their field with adventure based licensed properties and that's very much the same here.

Presentation 8.5: For the first time in a Telltale game, my playthrough had absolutely no stutter between decisions and animations. This is a huge step for the developer and means that my overall experience with the title felt smoother. The story here is presented very similar to other Telltale games, but the seamlessness of character story transitions is to be admired.
Whilst the story that is told here is slower in comparison to Telltales previous premieres it is still, nonetheless, one with an extremely promising start and an epic conclusion.

Overall Score: 8/10 - A promising start to the series, with weighty choices from the start and a conclusion sure to shock many players.

Looks like TellTale has another hit on their hands! Any GoT fans or Telltale fans will enjoy this great story. Only problem is some weird graphical hiccups: (Not choppy like TWD or WAU on PS3/360) kind of makes some of the art look smeared or blurry. Besides that 1 minor flaw this game is overall amazing!

The first episode is fantastic and it really does capture the feel of the show. The voice acting is great from the shows stars to the new characters the game is introducing. The new characters seem interesting so far as does the story and the graphic style they are using for the game is good but could be better done on for the newer consoles.

If you are a GoT fan pick this up and enjoy.

I might as well say it now: I am a fan of Game of Thrones. The TV series and the books, they’re both great. The books weave a fascinating story of loyalty, betrayal, honour, murder and so much more. And the TV series, which (quite understandably) does not strictly adhere to George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”, gives a fantastic look into the world set out in his tomes. But withI might as well say it now: I am a fan of Game of Thrones. And the TV series, which (quite understandably) does not strictly adhere to George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”, gives a fantastic look into the world set out in his tomes. But with a story so wonderfully presented to us already, how and where can Telltale’s episodic video game fit in?

“Iron From Ice” was always going to be a side story, given that the main story is already a well trodden path. What Telltale needed to deliver was a different, as yet untold, chronicle that was both a part of Martin’s world and yet was new; something that was both familiar and yet original; a bit like something Schrodinger might write, and not. So how did they fair?

I actually felt that the game captured the spirit of Game of Thrones perfectly. The books and TV series could feel a little slow at times, and yet somehow underneath it all there is a sense of discomfort… like a brewing storm. The tension would build into a crescendo and would usually end with one or a lot of people being killed. Sometimes main characters would meet an untimely demise too. This sense of unease is something the game carries off perfectly.

For those who do know the story I can say that “Ice From Fire” starts at the Red Wedding. Without giving any spoilers away your character takes you very quickly away from the main story and onto a parallel one. The tale we are familiar with from our screens acts as a backdrop to the one we are told within the game itself, with well known characters appearing every now and again. It’s a good mix of old and new, making it feel as though you are a part of Game of Thrones.

Within the game you take control over three new characters all from the House of Forrester, a house loyal to the Starks. You play a squire (at the Twins), the lord (at his home) and a daughter (as a maid in King’s Landing) and it’s a very clever mix. You are forced to make decisions on many different levels, battling your wits against Frey soldiers to then meeting face to face with Cersei, the Queen herself.

If you who are not yet convinced what I can say is that Iron From Ice does a fantastic job of capturing the spirit of Game of Thrones. There is a story unravelling before your eyes, some of which you can control but others you cannot. It creeps and it broods, but above all (and this is what really swung me in favour of this game) it delivers that Game of Thrones moment. You’ll know it when you reach it, believe me!!

This game is tight. Some of the decisions that are made regarding the fate of the characters are reminiscent of the red wedding. Would recommend for GAME OF THRONES fans.

Brilliant start to the series! Graphics are pretty poor but I'm not playing it for that and the price is so low it doesn't really matter. This is a great addition to the Game of Thrones world and allows you to take part in it!
