Avoid, much better FPS available. I've also seen some offensive ID's, doesn't seem like devs are doing much about that either

Fortnite is simply pure fun. The combination of a great setting, immersive gameplay, and a rewarding unlock system make this game very hard to put down. With the ability to listen and engage with fans better than most companies, its media team and developers however are the heart and strength of the game.

Expand

I feel like Fortnite does not deserve as much popularity as it has right now simply because it's just so lacking for me.

First of all, this game is all gameplay and no story (I say 'no story' because as of right now it's just generic zombie infestation story #420 at this point), and that is fine, but that is also not good if there are people who don't really like the game play (such as

There is also no such thing as Training mode or something like that which further dooms anyone who has never played a shooter in their life (or some people at least) and really only applying to those who have played BO3 or some other shooters. This also means that if you feel like it's too much of a hassle trying to learn how to get the best headshots or the best IG plays then it's practically over, since Fortnite's main (and only) appeal is the game play. For instance, I can not like the game play of Persona 5, but I can have the story, characters, and lore of each Persona to enjoy, Fortnite is the opposite of that, only having game play as its excelling trait (unless making OCs of Fortnite skins is your thing), which makes it a bit more niche in my opinion.

As for it being "P2W", I didn't find it an issue, as everything appeared to be just cosmetic, which to me seemed to be one of the few saving graces with this game, the other ones being frequent updates and game modes.

Fortnite is not a bad game, it's a bad game to me, and to other people probably for different reasons.
Also this is not really meant to be a review to help people consider buying the game, this is just my irrelevant opinion that will be overruled by the many people that think Fortnite is 'the best game ever'.

FORTnite...FORT... fort are useless in this game; the most that anyone does is a tall rectangle. That's it.

Graphics: Subpar at best. Character polygons are CLEARLY visible, and graphical glitches occur often. That said, it is fairly nice looking of a game.

Micro Transactions: Tis a sad day in gaming where we must deal with micro transactions. It's there, and they suck.... highly overpriced skins that give disadvantages.

Let me say this: I do NOT play PUBG and i'm NOT just a buttsore noob. I've played a coupled hundred match and won a decent amount.

This doesn’t mean that Fortnite can’t be enjoyed, but there are quite a few nuances that tend to really add up after you notice them. These things can range from repetitive gameplay and pay to win style mechanics, non consistent pvp, and all around feeding people’s addictive personalities. First, I would like to talk about the repetitive game-play. Now in a world where words like grind y and repetitive are tossed around a lot Fortnite really fits the checklist on this one. You kinda know what your getting into in the beginning of most of these types of games because it always starts out with rarity. The moment you turn the game on and see some form of rarity system to your weapons or in this case everything you know your going to be doing the same thing over and over. This game is no exception and as a matter of fact it really amplifies this aspect. Games like Borderlands, World of Warcraft, and Diablo have done this in the past successfully, but how many times are we going to see this. Thinking about how games like Diablo and such have done it better I believe it boils down to when they did it, it didn’t feel so cheap. When you can just pay for your lamas to get different rarity of items, what makes getting different items and rarity unique. Other games you have to grind, but when you finally get what you want the pay off feels a lot more a rewarding. When you add a loot crate system with pay to win then you become just as bad, if not worse, as companies like EA or Bungie. Sure you can grind missions and get your own lamas to unlock different characters and weapons, but why does it matter. You can do the same missions over and over to try to get better stuff and make your character better or you can just buy lamas. There’s no end to the game and there looks to be no completion anytime soon, all the missions range from building and defending to building and defending, the rarity of items don’t make that much of a difference and the gaming environment is toxic. Almost all the missions can be done with leveled up ranged weapon, melee weapon and a trap. If you can get the basics of the game it doesn’t matter what ranged, melee, or trap you use. Going back to the toxic environment, I can’t even load up the game without first seeing that a person is a scammer or how people want to trade just to comeback and complain about being scammed. Trading in this game is useless and I truly don’t understand why people are trading to begin with. You want stuff, go get it yourself. You can literally jump into a game and get almost anything you need from searching the map. I guess I wouldn’t be so bitter if I wasn’t exposed to whining all the time and for the fact that you can choose any map and mission you want to get what you need. If your not being annoyed by the trading environment then get ready because you get to experience a whole range of crappy teammates. Crappy teammates can range from the person that joins your game just to hide somewhere and get your teams rewards, people trying to trap you to trade with you or constantly harass you to trade with them or give them free stuff, and people who join to get what they want and then just abandon the match. Let's talk about pvp for a second. Now we all know by now that Battle Royal’s are the big thing and they will be for the next year most part, but what makes this game stand out is the building aspect. Ok, cool, it’s still a Battle Royal. There is no method to the madness when it comes to this type of gameplay and that can be quite exhausting as well. There is a charming aspect at first trying to be the best, but there are so many things that can come up that cause you to die that it really is just a gamble everytime you jump into the game. You can learn from your mistakes and get practice to get better, but I have got into plenty of fights and landed shots just to see the person was barely unscathed. I really wonder about the mechanics of the pvp when that happens. I’ve seen youtube videos of people laying into other players that have no shield and still get killed. You grab a legendary thinking it’s going to make the difference just to be killed by a random with a gray tactical or green pump. You turn a corner to get one shot knowing that if you tried that you would be in a fight for your life. I would like to admit that the building aspect brings out a chess esce feel to the match when it comes down to it, but there are so many negative qualities to the combat that it almost seems like a wool over the eyes to make it seem like it’s purely skill. All this is blanketed by the fact that if you are somewhat good at pvp each match can take up to 20 minutes just to get killed. There is more i would like to add, but the basics is that it's a grind y phone app. Expand

So theyI am slowly quitting this game. I have a lot of friends who still play therefore, I still play from time to time. My prediction is that Fortnite will go out in popularity just as fast as it came in. The problem with the game is that Epic doesn't want to scare away new players because they need new players to stick around and buy some skins, harvesting tools and new dance moves. So they keep the new players around by introducing massive amounts of luck, via randomness, into the game. Here are just a few examples:

    1. Shotgun blast radius is overly large allowing players who aren't good shots to "pray and spray" and have a good chance at winning.

    2. Shotgun damage is obscenely unbalanced. The pellets can sometimes miss and do only 9 points of damage or sometimes land a direct hit and do over 200 points of damage. So even if you are full health and full shield you can die immediately by a one shot from a shotgun. Why even have shields in the game if you can be dropped to zero health with one shot even though you are fully shielded and at 100 health? Epic needs to bring consistency to the shotgun by making the damage more reasonable in the 40 to 80 range. They can still have some space for randomness but 9 damage is dumb and 200+ damage is really dumb.

    3. AR bloom is the worst I've seen in any game. You can have your sights lined up perfectly and not hit anything. Again, Epic is catering to the new player here because if the AR bloom were more realistic skilled players would be winning more battles consistently.

    4. RPG "splash" damage works similar to the shotgun where sometimes the splash will only do a bit of damage and other times it will one shot an opponent. Again, the RPG is one of the easiest weapons in the game to utilize which makes it a perfect weapon for new players to take out a skilled player via luck. The blast radius should be reduced and the damage should be more consistent.

    5. SMG's and pistols need to be buffed. Epic buffed SMG's during the patch prior to this last one and the SMG felt viable as a weapon for the first time. Then after this most recent patch the SMG feels extremely weak again and unusable. When you get into a close quarters battle and you are holding a blue or purple SMG or pistol and your opponent is rocking a shotgun of any color you are going to lose 9 times out of 10 even if you land all your shots with the SMG or pistol because of the ease of use of the shotgun (large blast radius) and the massive amount of damage you can do with a shotgun with one shot (upwards 200+). Stop bringing more weapons into the game Epic before you balance the weapons you already have.

    6. You can't shoot through leaves on trees nor can you build through wooden guard rails. The geniuses at Epic have made it so that you can't shoot through tiny leaves that are hanging down even when it's literally one single leaf. Epic came out with a patch that made it so that whenever you build your build will go through trees, structures, dumpsters and other objects but for some reason if you try to build over a wooden guard rail it won't let you. And there are a lot of wooden guardrails in the game. This has gotten me killed countless times.

    7. Bugs, errors, glitches and bad servers. Epic has no problem coming out with a new skin every other day for you to spend money on but for some reason it takes them months to fix bugs, errors, glitches and server lag that greatly affect the playability of the game. Epic is putting the cart before the horse and their sales will drop dramatically because of their inability to keep Fortnite running in optimal shape. When their servers were down for the entire day last week they lost millions.

It's nothing more than a rip-off of other Battle Royale games. The only new thing Fortnite does, is adding a new layer of more intense, unrealistic gameplay. The game offers its own cartoony style, which looks incredibly cool, but behind its joyful and friendly interface, a huge cashmachine begs for your money. I wish they just asked fourty dollars for this game and left their shop-system out.

Any payments you make gain you cosmetic items only and no advantages in combat. With new challenges every week, Epic Games is able to keep you playing their game. Flaws lie within combat and levelling up. In combat, certain weapons are much stronger than others leading to only certain weapons being ideal for a victory and this becomes very apparent in live streams, as most players use only certain weapons in the endgame. Levelling up is also strange as completing challenges is the main way of levelling up rather than performance. This means that opening up ammo boxes will usually give you an equivalent amount of experience as compared to winning. Otherwise, the game is extremely exciting, either going in solo, or with your friends. Fortnite is a great experience.

It is endless amounts of fun. You can play with friends on it for hours on end with just messing around. You can also buy skins which costs money which looks awesome but is not required so the game is free(except for Save the World which costs money). Plus, it is coming to mobile devices so you dint need a console or pc anymore to play.
But there are a few things I would like to be changed about the game. For instance, the level pairment of players needs to be changed. The noobs are playing with other players that play all day and all night that dominate other players. It is hard to compete with serious players(tryhards) and have fun.
Overall I love this game and I would recomend it to anyone that likes third person shooters and likes the battle royale modes of games. I rate this game a 10/10 and I hope that this game continues to amaze me with new content.

Fortnite is a good game to have fun if you play full squad with your friends. I did not like the creation mechanics to build walls. The graphics are pretty and you have a huge map to seek your enemies. It is a great option to play with your friends and have some fun.

The matchmaking is also horrible on my first game (lvl 1) I didnt even know what buttons to use and there are players building forts in a matter of seconds. After 3 games this was no longer an issue and I won my first solo, however it makes the game horrible for people who arent used to TPS/FPS games. 6 years of development for a game of chance, I only downloaded the game because it was from EPIC and the nostalgia of the Unreal franchise... I expected more. A lot more. Expand

Game that requires no skill, only money to win.

Guns are completely unbalanced and have no explanation at all. Sometimes shotgun does 10dmg damage from 2m and sometimes 78dmg from 15m. Unlimited server issues, hackers (a fck ton of them). Small amount of weapons and only difference is in rarity. Weapon spread is a joke. Bullets fly from barrel 10 deg to anywhere but not the enemy.

The game play in my opinion is very overrated. It's fun for maybe an hour, but then gets so repetitive that I can't bring myself to play it anymore. There's not change to it. Same map, same guns, same average combat. I believe this game is VERY overrated.

BUTTTTTTTTT its frustrating. Its frustrating that when you fight someone and other is attacking you out of nowhere, its frustrating when you get killed, its frustrating when somebody kills you while camping. Its just same as PUBG and h1z1 just simulator to get frustrated.

Not also but they give you pay 2 progress. You want more reward? Pay for 10.50$ (Sorry i don't know real price i am living on poland) to buy second pass on fortnite. The without is not good. As i remember having like 30 Rank will no longer give prize.

To proceed further you need to retire hero and proceed to same thing but better or pay money to advance better! And if you do you lose them FOREVER!!! It will be late when you realize when you will be screwed, unable to progress and pay real money to advance.

Also i hear opening 150 llamas is crap. So again if you buy the deluxe edition it is probably rare to get great ones. So again money grabing. And yet you have to buy game (or even edition) to get llamas, oh and you get it by cash shopping.

Just to say it will be free for 2018 (The Main Game). Its cash grab because when people buy a game and then after a second, hour or min it becomes f2p abd they will feel scammed.

I do like idea what they are doing but the thing what they are doing with people is just unacceptable.
I don't say dev and publishers are the worst. Belive me EA did alot of worse.
Edit: As of it i found that game can be glitchy (or some thing that doesnt even explain) and not allow you change by pressing r1 or l1 gj Epic Games. You dont even explain what it does.

The only good part about this game very easy to play because of how short in time the games are. I do not recommend this game to anyone.

Fortnite is an upcoming Player Versus Environment (PVE) Zombie Shooter from Epic Games, at the minute it's in Early Access with constant updates and tweaks to the games design and gameplay, hence why I think it's not very fair that others have granted it 0/10. The game at present is sold as a 'Founders Pack', granting gamers the ability to play the game in Early Access while these changesFortnite is an upcoming Player Versus Environment (PVE) Zombie Shooter from Epic Games, at the minute it's in Early Access with constant updates and tweaks to the games design and gameplay, hence why I think it's not very fair that others have granted it 0/10. The game at present is sold as a 'Founders Pack', granting gamers the ability to play the game in Early Access while these changes take place, but eventually the entire game will become free of charge at some point in 2018.

The gameplay consists of choosing missions based on your current level of progress, being spawned into a level with another three random players (or your friends if you're in a party) and working together to complete mission objectives. The missions are usually split into two halves: first looting, gathering and crafting whatever you can find in the level, followed by defending a base, resource or point of interest against waves of zombies (husks). The game makes for frantic fun, especially since the addition of epic mini bosses which really require a full team's efforts to tackle. Completing missions gains XP which can be used to upgrade heroes, survivors and weapons to further tackle the horde in later missions. I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised by the level of depth and detail they've put into the levelling system.

The updates they've made to general gameplay over the past few months have been outstanding, and Epic seem to be constantly do their best to pay attention to feedback received in order to improve the status of the game. With this in mind, I'm confident the end product by time full release comes will be satisfying to most. I know others won't feel the same way, but I think they're being a bit overwhelmed given how popular the game has blown up in recent months.

Now for a few negatives... Most of the beginner levels on the game can be completed solo or with a basic team of novice players, but as you progress further into the game that's where the issues start. Levels are swarmed with players who simply want to use the mission space to loot and gather as much resources as they can, and then leave them game without completing the mission objective, leaving you on your own to try and fight waves of enemies, usually resulting in absolute mission failure. This is incredibly frustrating as players don't get penalised for leaving games early, sure they won't get the mission XP but they still get to keep all loot and resources they've gathered!

And then there's the leaches, low level players who purposely go into high level missions in the hope that the other players on the game will be skilled enough to carry them through, thus getting all the XP bonuses and extra loot. This is infuriating spawning into a Level 19+ mission and being surrounded by Level 5 players with no weapons or ammo to defend themselves whilst you waste every single resource you have on trying to defend the objective.

Missions can also become quite boring and samey, especially given that it's not just your character you level up, but instead you have to level up fort survivors, defenders, weapons and traps, using as much XP as you can squeeze out to make it past another wave of Husks. Taking this into account does make the game at times feel like a total grind, especially since this is (yet another) game that utilised loot crates and in-game purchases to further your progress.

The game also features the very popular PVP 'Battle Royale' game mode, which has really made waves over the past few months. This game mode features 100 people being parachuted into a map, having to loot resources and find weapons as quickly as possible. Last man standing wins! Tremendous fun at times, and is also free to download and pay without having to purchase the Founder's Pack for PVE.

Overall I'm confident the game will progress towards full release in the coming months and really be a free game that gamers cherish for years to come. As a free game, the PVE and PVP game modes are absolutely fantastic for what they offer, but if you're considering paying out of pocket for the Limited Founders Pack, I wouldn't bother, you'll only get some shiny outfits and loot crates for your troubles. Stick with Standard Founders if you're desperate to play, or just wait until free release at some point in 2018!

You're screwed with the aiming if your too far away, and smg's do nothing. Matches are much shorter than i thought, I thought they'd go on for hours but still, it's Caspian border sprinting over grassy hills times 10. When you're parachuting out the bus, with a dopey lame character rarely seen in games, you'll wonder(yes I'm borrowing this from that, Medal of Honor review) no, you'll realize your wasting your time on a level that hasn't been seen since a long, long, longer, time ago. Solo is the only way to maybe have one worthwhile kill, making you instered enough in the outcome, and I've seen some amazing battles that haven't been seen before in games. I'm proud of epic for turning their, company failure level flop, into something that is almost bigger than gears. But they sure did it in a shameless way. Shouldn't we rely on the makers that brought us the ultimate stuff to make the next evolution? In this case no. Why should we make a fuss about yet another post ME3 crate game(ok, 40 hours is evil) when we're seeing worse things, like the whole cosmetic items pull that is now on a much larger scale? Smashing jiggly bricks is a new mechanic that's on the level of some top shooting feedback. However, we're taught that fun but tedious moves give us xp or even small font size white text. Instead we really get nothing but having a supply of wood that will ether lead to a awsome new player created move of circle building", as i just made up(the name at least) or a control mishap of selecting the weapon you want but never get in time, or get hit the last fateful times when it's constructing in front of you. So all that(and when your in a squad they break brick for minutes at a time, in games, time is hyper useful) will probably lead to nothing. I love seeing the pro's (i,e the girl that killed you or the top 10, not some stupid e sporter or youtuber, ugh) use the build and shoot to masterfully show their personality though predetermined animations. It's like the final guy in search and destroy who place two claymores and do the yy tap thing after a kill. Quick building for cover while running away was something that showed me game mechanics can go farther and work. I don't like paragraphs. The little but important snap of seeing new animations, sounds, or textures is something that I've never seen before. Updating does show that we're getting the stick for playing a very early and reactive game. It depends how far it goes. If we see something totally superior to what we slogged through than I'll feel even more like that nearly 30 hours(wait, seriously, yeah i think it was like 20 something, that's absolutely ridiculous) was soul killing. But their also will be a little of I was important and the feeling of seeing a process never done by consoles and big names. Ever since skyrim and next gen, we've seen the focus go to a great wealth of content that just wouldn't have done before, but if you think about it, they definelty could have done way more worthwhile and not time disrespecting(think Gt freakin A, I did it cause there was nothing else and I always complete baby) content that might've made this incredibly disappointing half generation(I was really too idealistic) be composed of memorable moments(I can't think of any other way to put those last two words, thank years of reading game critics) The art style initially came off a far too juvenile and it still could be a lot more intuned with surperior game styles but I love the beauty isolation feeling of the island that I compare both to game and show form of the walking dead. The purple pink sky with wispy clouds and new stars sold me to it. And while most of the characters are incredibly generic and conform to the style that games are so good at becoming their own from, I still adore the back camera following view of dark ponytail girl. It's almost always worth it with her. The new social dynamic of BR with squads makes me just want to talk to people in my own, won't see them after match, so be a different cool version of yourself way(think trying to sound like tracer, it kinda works?) But when you find some new acquaintances that join your party slate, Joking around and calling out targets and feeling the panic of getting absolutely Flanked far overcedes the actual game. Kills or time in doesn't even matter anymore. But that leads to the main mind hitter(I'm trying to not sound like Everybody), starting matches just to find someone with a mike, and if they do, finding out their a disappointing, It's cool dude, it's chill(i.e the majority?) guy is a lot worse than you could have been doing Expand

The game is a pay to win disaster. Even for a cashgrab game, Fortnite's system is excessive. First, you buy the game. Then, to unlock different heroes, you have to buy loot crates that might have the hero (but probably just contain junk). And it isn't just heroes: all progress is locked behind the loot crates.

This is the kind of game that makes me wonder if I should give up gaming as a hobby.

95% of your progression is either time-gated, or pay-gated. So if you don't want to spend money, prepare for the biggest timegates of your life. Without spending money, you'll be able to earn the equivalent of 50 cents per day in Llamas, Fortnite's version of Loot crates like in CS:GO or Dota 2. Except here it's not cosmetics that drop from them, but real items. Items that can be trashed instantly or are the best item you will never replace. Or somewhere in between.

I wouldn't say it's Pay-to-Win, but it's definitely a huge help to spend a lot of money. They're currently working on it, and to be fair to Epic, they're frequently pushing patches to fix a lot of annoying bugs. Or cool bugs that make some maps tolerable (because some map designs are horrible).

The gameplay is extremely well done though and, in my opinion, more than makes up for a lot of shortcomings. Just not enough. Unless you're into crazy grindy games like me, skip this one for the foreseeable future.

It's one of the more fun and interesting games of the genre I've had to chance to play. The booster packs do give an edge to those who desire instant satisfaction but decent weapons and gear come fairly easily simply by playing the game and that the game is heavy reliant on cooperation rather than hardcore competition (though I suppose some will be willing to put down hundreds of $ on boosters just so they can see their end match stats being shinier than their teammates). Overall a solid title that I hope continues to be improved on with future content and hopefully more weapons, maps, and game modes. Expand

The gameplay is fast and the combat is still entertaining 40+ hours on. Personally, I find this game to be a perfect mix of elements with pick up groups usually yielding good results. Sometimes you will get players who are farming while you are are trying to complete a mission but many missions can be completed by 2-3 competent people (or if you level up your squad a bit first). If you are looking for perfect groups all the time, like literally any other game, you will have to form your own from your friends list or meet good players in game. Personally I have only had a few bad pick up groups. If you're into speed runs, you will want to form your own group. On the pay model, yes there are loot boxes (llamas) you can buy to get a chance at premium cards, and that will be a part of all F2P models. After release there will undoubtedly be sales etc. and those will be the times to pick up the nice cards (one you have a good blueprint you can make unlimited weapons from it, the resources are fairly easy to farm at this point). If they implement drop rates with the husks, then this game can get a good one. But like this is is Really up to you,, to spend Hundes of Dollars to get forward. It is really a pure pay2win (-progress) title.

Waited a very long time for this game to come out, and it's not great. The gameplay gets repetitive after about five minutes, but at least it has a nice art style. They could have knocked this out of the park, and with all of the development time, it seems like they would have.

I bought the Founders Edition deluxe, with a copy for my daughter. So I spent 90 € on this game. And first, especially if you see videos everything is so exciting and new. The gameplay is smooth, the characters are fine, the loot is overwhelming (at first).

But if you are into the game for a few hours, you recognize it is a big cash maschine. The only way to loot and lvl your gear up is through llamas. And the normal llamas, as well as the rare llamas are containing a lot of trash.

I opened, thanks to the Founders deluxe editions hundres of llamas. So far not one single legendary character or weapon. Just normal stuff.

The biggest problem of this game is, that there is no sense in doing all that. The zombies don't drop loot. The treasures in the world are only for the next games, no chance to find any schematics. You do the same over and over again for nothing. This game is, with this state of play, a total waste of time and money.

They just want, you put more and more money into that game for a really boring early access. I played hundreds of games in my life. But this game so far is the first game I regret spending money on.

The behavior and the goals of the developers are really something you should be aware of!

    The bad :

Some loot and progress problems, not that bad as some people suggest but definitly needs some work.

I leave the rating at 9/10 because it is early access and even though it is packed with content, I want more! And I mean content I'd be willing to pay for. This is not a 5-10 hour game you complete after a while, it is a grind game that is the first game since WoW to have actually got me in the morning before work logging in just to check my daily loot Llama. I created a metacritic account just so I can write this. IGNORE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! At least if you dont mind putting either some time or money into the game. Underneath the simple art design style is quite a deep progression system, with a huge variety of builds that one can work towards for each hero.

The gameplay is very satisfying, from building structures, strategizing trap mazes for the zombie hordes to the tight 3rd person shooter controls.

The biggest cons for the game at this point are that many of the systems and UI are quite confusing, and there isn't enough information in game to actually understand it properly. Much of the "pay to win" whining about this game has to do with players that do not understand the game design systems (not their fault AT ALL), or are looking to basically have beaten this entire game in the one week its been available.

Another con is that there are not enough game modes available, though I'm pretty confident Epic is already working on this, and they have spent considerable time and effort constantly reaching out the community, explaining the road ahead for the game.

Overall, this gamble of a video game (part shooter, part minecraft, part tower defense, part Diablo-esque gear progression) pays off. It is really fun. If you are skeptical, you don't have to worry about dropping any money as the game will be free to play in 2018. You should keep it on your radar though.

The cash grab in this game is sneaky but it's there. And you will read lots of people saying it's not pay 2 win. They're right, its not pay 2 win, it's pay 2 progress.

How it works is you need schematics to break down to level your gun, the only way to get schematics is through llamas (boxes), the only way to get llamas is through, you guessed it, the cash shop.

Here's what happened to me. Once you are at a level (towards the end of the 2/4 zones they have available) where the husks are becoming bullet sponges and you are having hard times killing them due to enormous health pools and mob density, you will need to upgrade your hero, guns, survivors for stat increase, dps increase, and hp/resist. The only way to do so is by "retiring" heroes (you take a blue or epic hero and transfer that into a currency that allows you to get your next "star"), breaking down schematics, and retiring survivors. Once a hero, schematic or survivor is "retired", you lose it forever until you find it again. So that means, to level my hero, I have to retire other heroes at the same quality that I can only find in a cash grab box. You see ? Its a con. It's sneaky because you don't see it coming, you're having a blast then bam, you're screwed, you can't progress, you have to pay money or get lucky out of a **** grey mini llama (haven't seen one blue from one of these so my blue hero can't use those retirees).

All of those things are only attainable through cash shop llamas (they have mini llama rewards but they only drop greys and RARELY green quality schematics or survivors, which are only used to upgrade grey or green quality schematics or survivors).

Its what people call a "gotcha game", essentially it's one of those **** mobile games that are basically made to profit with no real passion or love for the fans. It's too bad because the core game, if it weren't a f2p p2w game, is ridiculously fun, but you can't enjoy it at a certain point, it turns into a job.

If Epic Games doesn't fix this, this game will be forgotten sooner rather than later, trust me.

I was a huge fan of this game during my first 5 hours with it
here you choose a hero out of a possible 4 different classes, all with their own bonuses and special cool down attack and weapons are shared by all… you start your mission of finding the objective spot on the map, collecting materials with your pick axe.. using those materials to build a base and traps… and starting when you feel you’re read to defend
and you can defend just using your base and relying on the material of your walls to hold up or you can hop right in and melee or shoot these zombies trying to destroy the item you’re protecting…
this tower defending is thrilling at first…
it’s fun to explore collect and craft new weapons…
getting better chests based on you and your teams performance
inside of these chests are xp chips, items, skill points, and llamas…
llamas are also loot items that you break open for survivors, heroes, weapon schematics, and xp chips as well…
these chips go into leveling your favorite heroes and survivors up that you assign to your squads and bases for support, as well as leveling up weapon schematics…
you can also earn xp by retiring duplicates or weaker heroes and survivors as well as recycling unneeded weapons…
and skill points obviously go into a skill tree…
it’s fun getting all of this loot at first and the game gives it to you at a very generous pace.. Keeping the initial few hours with this game addictive...
sadly the gameplay itself isn’t interesting enough to keep this great loot system intriguing for long…
it’s the same thing over and over and over..
the developers couldn’t even be bothered with giving you a change of scenery
you’re either back at your base, in some random woods, or town that all look and play exactly the same…
some just have more materials for bullets than others…
it’s just the same repetitive boring grind of collect build defend as the game slowly introduces new enemies to you
the game never makes you think of your surrounding or change your strategy…
    its repetitive…
I made it half way through the game and this is when the game starts forcing you to replay missions multiple times to move forward and I just couldn’t do it anymore..
It’s a shame because I did love my first initial hours with this game...
it just doesn’t do enough to stay fun…
it makes you impatient and starts to feel as though its matches drag on forever…
while you won’t hate your time with fortine..
As again I loved my first few hours
I’d be surprised if it keeps you entertained longer than a weekend…

I'm going to be honest right out of the gate, Fortnite does not have a sandbox or endless horde mode available, something I specifically bought the game for. Any thoughts of having a game similar to State of Decay, 7 Days to Die, or even Minecraft are not going to happen. How this game works is that you play missions with your friends. These missions are for the most part the same (go to/find a point or person, turn it on/speak to them, defend point/person for 2 waves of enemies, victory.) The game is built around a free to play model, which means there are going to be getting numerous loot boxes filled with obscure BS that will not aid you in the slightest. Ammo and resources carry over to other missions so having supplies to build forts and defenses are never a problem, which is a plus. The issue is that the resources for bullets are not in every map, which means in some cases if you run out of ammo, you will not get any new ammo for the remainder of the mission, sometimes even the next few missions. The game is pretty and can be fun with friends, however the fun itself is not created by the game, but rather the friends. Because of its rather shallow mission variations, the game gets old very quickly and can lose luster almost immediately. The game does have some pretty detailed skill and research trees though. Customization is also pretty deep in the game, as skins for characters do in fact change the load out abilities and stats of the characters on top of the starting stats from the different characters. This added with the use of class creation by using survivors you have (who all have different bonuses to add) to create a customized class bonus, on top of the skill and research tree means that almost every character will be different. Building is also not that difficult to figure out, and once you get the hang of the buttons, you can easily build a base with little to no hassle.

Overall the game has a lot of potential, but as I've said in the beginning, this game is marketed and looked at with the notion of it being a sandbox survival game when it is not. As someone who bought this game for a sandbox or endless horde mode to play with friends only to find it does not exist, I must say I am disappointed in this title and until such a mode is added, I will continue to be disappointed.

P.S. the buildings you create do not transfer from mission to mission, so if you used resources and built an awesome base of operations for a mission, you just wasted your supplies on something that will be erased upon completion anyway.
