    This game was excellent as long as you exclude the story. I could have continued exploring, hunting, fishing, and flying around the Far Cry 5 world for many more hours. However, when you include the forced story progression and the inability to affect ANY true outcome of the story... count me out! Give me a challenge!     I've played every single Far Cry installment so far, but I'll definitely be waiting a long time after the next release to see if the development folks get the hint and make better writing decisions in the future. As of now, I'm a lost customer.

    Big fan of the Far Cry franchise but 5 is the worst hands down!(Worse than Primal) the story was ok i guess although nothing special, The mechanics were awful especially the flying controls and the constant enemy spawning got old fast! One thing i like about Far Cry is about exploring the beautiful map but because of the enemy spawning constantly i put me off doing that.

    Every aspect of this game is uninspired. Mute protagonist says everything especially in an fps game. The villain isn't much better and quite frankly the other characters are worse and i forgot about them. The AI is bad but our human team mate are totally brain dead. The missions are tedious and i didn't enjoy the side quests either. The location is worth mentioning because it's fitsEvery aspect of this game is uninspired.     I hate all AC games, I like Far Cry 3 & 4 but this episode is so boring & repetitive. I just started because I couldn't play through... You always do the same things.

    To be clear, i completed this game just to get over with the franchise. If this is how far cry goes, then the franchise is a trash for me. The game is garbage and before i tell you why, i will first give the very few good points about this game. You can say this is a triple A because of its sandbox system and it does feel good specially if you ride the chopper and vehicle but thars about it. Why i think this game is trash:

    1. Whenever you progress the game, very often i guess 10 times per region? you will be dragged to this very awful, linear, not very immersive ugly, and very very repetitive mandatory shooting story system. Im guessing it is how they progress the story? Its the worst idea. Its not immersive at all and to make it worst, very repetitive.

    2. Everything about how they execute its story, narrative, is god damn cheesy in a very bad way specially when they play the song "only you" while you are out shooting enemies over and over. POOR TASTE

    3. You couldnt care less about the characters, and their dialogues. Everythings feels like just fillers.

    4. Its a re-skin of Assassins Creed i guess UBISOFT as a whole. Dont trust this awefull developer. Overall, its a TRASH.    … Expand

    I bought this game for less than a quarter of its original price on PS4, and IMO they don't deserve even that much money. The quality of this game is shockingly poor. Only one hour in, and I've already encountered dozens of bugs: enemies bodies disappearing right after killing them, the sound is totally broken, the performance is quite poor, the AI isn't even trying to look and act human.I bought this game for less than a quarter of its original price on PS4, and IMO they don't deserve even that much money. The first "friend" in the game I've encountered didn't say anything after I killed all the traitors but instead started running around the spot like mad. Turned out, he was looking for a rifle, that he later found a couple of feet away from the place he was laying at. Later I tried to save a couple of civilians, killed their offenders, the victim stood up for a second but then laid down again because I didn't kill all the goons in the area (they were lost in the forest nearby and couldn't find a way out). After killing the remaining ones I tried to save the guy, but when I approached him I couldn't interact with him: the button was still disabled. There was another civilian (old redneck woman that can join your team), but she was laying down in the grass with her upper half of body stuck in the ground. She clearly was held hostage by those goons but she was saying something like "what the hell are you doing here?" - that doesn't make any sense. After that I just went to PS menu and smashed "delete" on this game. Hell, they even failed to sync the subtitles with the sound.
    Seriously, this is a $60 AAA title, and it's so broken in the places where even cheap indie games aren't. Moreover, it's been two years after the release, they didn't bother fixing anything (or maybe it was even worse on start).
    And I was hooked up in the first minutes of the game: the aesthetics are really good. I truly wanted to like it, but the next minute they let you play it, it turned into a complete disappointment.
    Overall, this is another potentially good game totally ruined by a greedy corporation that thinks it's fine to roll out half-baked sh*t to the market.    … Expand

I'm not someone who only appreciate happy ending, I like well plotted very bad endings too, but this, this is far beyond disgusting. I will never even touch this franchise ever again.     El peor far cry que he jugado....
    Ni lo pude terminar.
    Juego aburrido que no explora mas la jugabilidad, misma historia que el 4 y el 3 pero de peor calidad.
    Buenos graficos y nada más.
    El resto de cosas son negativas.
    No lo recomiendo a menos de que seas un fan toxico de Ubisoft

Why couldn't they have just left it a pure open world game without the crap. I thought once passed the bliss ones it would be the end of it but no, soon as you start the next area its another annoying and unavoidable dream sequence...Its a shame as the core gameplay is great but let down by tedious dreamlike scripted sequences you cannot skip and have to constantly repeat until passed.     So baaad, the smallest fov ever making the sensitivity feel like **** it s like looking through a zoomed camera. Worst gun placement on screen, you only see the barrel of the weapon! So many bad design choices, limited gun selections, you only have a few weapons in a shooting game! The story it s like it isnt even there!

The graphics and game play are average but the story and the ending are horrible. Your character is constantly kidnapped and captured by the 4 bosses and there is nothing that you can do about it. the fact that when ever you reach a milestone of significance, the bad guys capture, drug or otherwise kidnap you brings the action to a screeching halt. That in and of itself drags the game down, but the ending is such a steaming pile of dog **** that it makes you never want to play a Far Cry game or even a Ubisoft game ever again. It really is that **** terrible. Add to that the horrendous driving and the ridiculously inept weapon selection and you have one of the worst games that I have played in the last couple of years. The only good thing about the game is the setting. Seriously, it really is that **** bad. Do yourself a favor and just download a pirated version if you really want to play it and save the $65.00.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. with a mediocre gameplay that is too chaotic for its own good, an annoying perk system and a story that goes nowhere far cry 5 is a mediocre passable game that shouldn't be discussed too much; however its when the ending(s) come to play where the game tells you its got nothing to show for several hours of story that was meh to begin with. the good ending is to not play this game, to leave "well enough alone" (here well enough is a murderous group of sadistic maniacs on your home soil but i guess that is Potato and potatoes, tomato and tomatoes right?) no real message is in this story, no good excuse for poor writing and a shameful game that had the potential to be either a criticism of society or just a good story, this game is neither and after finishing it (just for the story which i hoped will end well) i can say its just not good, its bad, the worst game i played in a long while story and gameplay wise. 2/10 no story, no gameplay, good idea and settings… Expand

    Most weapons and vehicles are just reskins of other weapons and vehicles in the SAME GAME. For example, there are 4-5 different types of revolvers, and all of them have the exact same stats. There are 8-9 different types of shotguns, with maybe 3 different stats shared between them. And the vehicles are even worse. I audibly groaned when anything story related happened because I was usually doing one of the few truly fun things in the game. And I don't want you to misunderstand, I LOVE a good story in a video game. I will play video games just for the story, and I am incredibly forgiving when games fail to shine in other areas, but the incredibly weak story mixed with the outright lazy game design really does not leave a good impression at all. The game at this stage is still pretty buggy and the level design also leaves a lot to be desired. If you intend to complete the main story, you will have to do the same exact mission four times. And that's not even a bug. If you really feel the need to buy this game, do it on sale, and make sure that you have a friend or two that has it. The most fun that you can have is dicking around the world with a friend. BUT, only one of you will get to save any progress, so pick a friend who doesn't mind slogging through this mediocre game more than once, because that's what they're going to have to do. Last word: Don't be fooled by the cool opening sequence. It got my blood pumping too, but I promise you, that it is the high point of the story.… Expand

I spent money on far cry 5 with the expectation that it would be amazing and thrilling, but....... as you are all far cry die hard fans like myself. Please believe me that you will be let down! You deserve better than this. I disregarded everyone’s advice when they told me this game would be terrible.! I chose to be a supporter! Rest assured this game is a pale comparison to the previous installations. This includes dlc! I don’t write this review to anger anyone I just hope to encourouge anyone reading not to give money to Ubisoft this time for this piece of trash that does nothing to a a series that should respect your expectations.     Got the gold edition for 30 the other day. Once you get into playing after a few hours you'll quickly notice how dull,lazy,ugly this game is.... Wasted my money .......

    Where are the exciting animals? Where's the cool history? I'm a big fan of Far Cry games, but this one. Was boring all the way. It was not the money I spent on, but the time I spent on it. A waste of time.

It's like if you wanted to watch the Last of us series... but YOU HAVE to play one hour of the game before...and then, it's feels like a much much lesser good version of Tom Clancy's Wildland. I liked some of the exploration... but some times, you'reok... so you start with a nearly one hour film (no skipable)... why ?? it's should be a game, we should be able to play it if we want.... It's like if you wanted to watch the Last of us series... but YOU HAVE to play one hour of the game before...and then, it's feels like a much much lesser good version of Tom Clancy's Wildland. I liked some of the exploration... but some times, you're parachute in a world where you HAVE TO do some challenges (yes, it's changes the pace... but, again, not skippable, and very often the same challenges (escape a house in fire...)). It's not an entertaining game.     Meiner Meinung nach lohnt es sich einfach vorne und hinten nicht dieses Spie kau kaufen, ich hoffe einfach mal das sich Ubisoft bei Far Cry 6 auf die Anfänge zurück besinnt und wieder ein Spiel raus bringt, das mit den ersten 3 Teilen mithalten kann.

The gameplay is repetetive and doesn't do anything to set itself apart from other games of the genre or from previous entries. The visuals aren't bad but I experinced visual bugs and missing textures. AI is as dumb as a bag of nails. The characters are a hit or miss, in my opinion, the only good antagonist is John and the rest have no depth to them, Jacob is a dumb soldier, Faith is a manipulative hippie basicly and Joseph is your stereotypycal zealot with Charles Manson vibes. As for the main character and everyone around you, they're forgettable and have nothing to add to the story. And my god the story....... What can I say it's a trainwreck from start to finnish. It gets interupted everytime you reach a milestone in RP or resistance points by you getting kidnapped and you not being able to prevent it. It has no nuance and it's too preachy about the way we live, but it falls apart because Joseph is a huge hypocrite. And in the end, no matter what you do YOU lose and he has WON. And as a last slap, in the "good" ending HE IS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. Don't buy this game there are so many better ones out there and cheaper in 2022.… Expand

    I have never played Far Cry 1 or 2, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Far Cry 3. At this point all I wanted was a coop which in proper version was introduced in Far Cry 4. This was a game. Superb. And now, I was waiting patiently for some sort of price drop to put my hands on this gem. When I did, I quickly found out, it's not gem anymore. It is a poo, a nice brown cheap andI have never played Far Cry 1 or 2, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Far Cry 3. At this point all I wanted was a coop which in proper version was introduced in Far Cry 4. This was a game. Superb. And now, I was waiting patiently for some sort of price drop to put my hands on this gem. When I did, I quickly found out, it's not gem anymore. It is a poo, a nice brown cheap and disgusting poo. In comparison to FC4, there is no feel behind your character, It feels like there is simply no weight, and the sound effects are too soft. It literally feels like playing console version of FC5 in FC4. There is nothing in this game that would feel like an upgrade to FC4. Apparently beautiful graphic. Well, not from my perspective. The only thing I can see is optimized pile of junk that stutters every now and then to totally break already weak immersion.

    If you enjoyed FC3 and FC4 - do not buy this pile of jokes until it's half price... and even then, be warned, you will not enjoy it as much as previous games. Darn... another over hyped title. PS: even if you get 2hrs trial on Steam or something, the game with intro etc. is design to waste so much of your time that before you notice and start proper game 3hrs passes... and you can no longer refund it. What an utter and cheeky cash grab.

There must be something wrong. I didn't try the hard setting, just normal and couldn't get past it. All you can do is fire wildly at your pursuers and hope you hit them. Because your vehicle is going up and down over obstacles and the tail-end of your own vehicle keeps getting in your line of fire as your idiot driver takes you through ravines and ditches. I fired a full burst into the windshield of a pursuer and they kept coming. The gun you're given for the mission is largely ineffective against moving targets and has a agonizingly slow re-load. During a single re-load an enemy truck is able to close the gap on you and pour bullets into you before you can even fire. The gun also bucks up hard during firing, making it extremely difficult to keep the cross-hairs on targets. Because the sequence and all the principals are moving fast and all at once, aiming with the crosshairs is useless. You just shoot in the general direction of enemies and hope you hit them. Because they've made aiming so difficult you're likely to hit only a couple of them before they kill you. And if you take out one truck, two more spawn to take their place. I didn't even get past the first part of the first mission. I'm told it gets even harder. They should warn people before they buy these games that the difficulty level is extreme. Why do they want to discourage people right at the beginning of the game by making the first mission impossible? Don't they realize people will quit?… Expand

    This game had so much potential, but it is squandered by a complete lack of effort from Ubisoft to actually make a solid game.

    The main story is so unbelievably dull and unsatisfying that it makes this game feel hollow and a waste of time. After finishing the game, I just wish I had never purchased it in the first place.

    It's sad, because the core gameplay is very polished now. The Dunia Engine makes movement and combat extremely fun, the random events are interesting, and the motion capture and animation and lighting is all terrific. The game also runs well, and there are only a few bugs here and there.

    But... all of that is overshadowed by how terrible the actual story is, and by how uninspired the game plays out. You don't even really work your way through the main story. Random boring cut-scenes are triggered based on a "reputation meter" for each region of the game. Doing random things, like freeing prisoners, killing bad guys, and doing side missions slowly increases this meter and once it hits a checkpoint you are pulled out of the game into a boring cut-scene for 3-5 minutes. These cut-scenes are usually just close-ups of the main bad guys faces with really boring dialog. You are continually captured and released for these events and it was just very poorly thought out and implemented.

    Add to that the fact that there is no choice in this game. Your actions don't change the endings. You just choose one of the two endings and that's it.

    The worst part is that you are never given a chance to kill the main bad guy (Joseph). None of the endings allow this. And once you've completed the game, it just puts you back to where the last mission is not completed so you can do it over to play both endings. You can't actually ever "end" the game and play in a world where Joseph has been taken care of.

    I really wish Ubisoft would take pride in what they create, but Far Cry 5 once again proves that they will just keep churning out game after game without any care for the content. They just want to milk these game engines for every last penny.    … Expand

    Big deception: cannot play in coop from start to the end with a friend because the guest does NOT save any progression! Even smallest studios give this feature...

    I HATE this game! It doesn't seem like far cry the villains are well done and that is literally it! Its atrocious! Buggy, boring! VERY poorly developed! Ubisoft need to be careful who they pick to lead these games

    A lot of annoying dumb missions, time consuming frustrating deaths due to silly situations frequently and easily created. I am really surprised how good reviews were written by the "pros". Gunfight is also annoying, this game was a wasted investment for me. Still buggy after almost two years.

Seems like Ubisoft was trying to make the game extra exciting but instead they made it painful to play, you walk/drive/swim anywhere and are guaranteed you will be attacked. You can't drive down a road without a passing car spotting you after 10 seconds and then hunting you down. You can't walk through a field without a random AI trying to gun you down. You can't even bloody go fishing without a skunk/snake biting at your balls.
    The game itself is just a mess. So unpolished. The characters are incredibly dull and boring. AI are moronic for a 2018 game. The story is lackluster. Voice acting is poor. Controls are poor. They've done nothing to better the game from the previous. The ranking system is trash. Ubisoft putting in in-game purchases pretty much says it all.

    I used to love Far Cry games, but after this one, I'm never buying another. Never felt this way about a game before, absolute trash. Positive the game review sites have just been paid off to give this thing 80%. Please avoid for your own sanity.    … Expand

If you are not a fan of repetitive gameplay, or far cry 4, I don't recommend this - and even if you are, it's not like it's so different, or that the story is so compelling that you should buy it. Wait till it's in the bargain bin, when the community will have finished creating decent multiplayer maps - since the devs didn't make a single multiplayer map - and then buy it.… Expand

    The game-play loop was pretty fun; the story wasn't very good, but I wasn't expecting it to be; my biggest gripe is the game breaking bug that traps you in an infinite credits loop after the final mission (still managed to hit it after patch 01.04).

    Personally I can't stand this game, the way it constantly interrupts you when you're just trying to explore and play is maybe the worst game mechanic I've ever encountered. What the heck were they thinking? Idk I hated it throughout, to each is own I guess, if you're on the fence about buying it, I'd get it preowned so you can at least return this turd like I did!

    Simply unplayable for me. Way way too many enemies. How Ubisoft thought that this would be fun to play is beyond me. Really wish that there was an option to turn down the spawning of hostile npc's. Unfortunately there is not and therefore not enjoyable.

    Am I the only one that was incredibly disappointed by this game? This was my first (and last) time playing a game in this series. The missions were super repetitive, the combat was awful, all guns felt the exact same, story was absurd, and everything just felt so scripted, the world might be open but the missions couldn’t be more linear and predictable. Truly awful game.

    Far Cry 5 established itself as one of the best in the series, The game features some gorgeous scenery, an engaging story and the overall story is great fun and the theme is very realistic. The game mixes up the missions so it doesn't get repetitive halfway through the game. Far Cry 5 is a great entry to the series for newbies and veterans alike.
