    Again amazing effort from ubisoft and after unconvincing Primal yet another Far Cry bomb. Huge map with so many quests you will not know where to go first. Great story with interesting characters and some really touching moments. Shooting feels life like never before, so does enemies trying to shoot in you "gods justice". I never felt as pumped with adrenalin playing a Far Cry game as whenAgain amazing effort from ubisoft and after unconvincing Primal yet another Far Cry bomb. I never felt as pumped with adrenalin playing a Far Cry game as when I was shooting at dozens of enemies, while enemy aircraft was trying to drop Hallelujah at me from above while and n Roll was overriding the cries of enemies.

    And since I loved story from start to ... well just say really memorable ending, I do not feel bad for giving this powerful game and finally decent open world shooter 10/10....Only reason would be Team Mates still imperfect AI, but game is solo friendly, so for me as one-man player, no problem at all.    … Expand

    It was good. Story was Average and cant say i enjoyed the ending but the overall gameplay and world is great and the game is very fun. Plus the the humor is a great bonus. I recommend

    For me the best one so far, the story doesn't stop being far cry but I do think it tries new things and does it well, makes the secondary missions entertaining and not repetitive, gives you a map where your going to have something to do for a long time, but on multiplayer it doesn't shine and besides co-op didn't caught my attention.

    Far Cry 5 tries to take some big risks in terms of its story. For me, I personally did not like the cliffhanger ending, but it really is a love/hate to the story. Let's just say the Seed family will do not but piss you throughout the game.

    I liked the addition of choppers and planes and I hope that if there is a FC6 they use it more.

    I'd say the biggest thing that makes Far Cry 5 isn't the characters or the action, but the game's setting. It just immerses you into the whole smoky mountain feeling, when you are hunting, fishing or doing stunt missions. (Which I thought was a great addition as well.)

    Every addition to the series seems to improve on each other, yet the formula does seem a bit stale after 5 entries.    … Expand

    Far Cry 5 was my favorite in the series since 2. Taking place in America made the game feel more relatable and despite the critics I think having the topic of gun control play such a big role in the game couldn't have been more perfect for today's headlines. I know I'm just reviewing the game so I'll keep politics out of it Game has an excellent antagonist and an absolutely beautifulFar Cry 5 was my favorite in the series since 2. I had to step away from 3 and 4 before coming back to beat them because the gameplay became too repetitive but with 5 the story was too good to walk away from. 3, 4 and 5 are all basically the same game with different settings but 5 did a great job at keeping you interested. The arcade is an amazing addition as well and was very cleverly implemented. I was pretty happy with the game and really look forward to the DLC when it arrives.… Expand

    It's not as good as Far Cry 3 but it's better than Far Cry 4. Far Cry seems to be the series Ubisoft likes taking the most risks with and they (mostly)pay off in this game. The story is much darker and serious than the previous games and the antagonists, while not as memorable or fun as Vass and Pagan, are menacing and believable, and I certainly wanted the satisfaction of seeing them dieIt's not as good as Far Cry 3 but it's better than Far Cry 4. The gameplay retains much of the same from past games, and while it may feel like more of the same, it's still a lot of fun. The perk system in my opinion is a downgrade from the XP system from the past games, and can make the game feel rather grindy. The map is not as big as FC4, but it trims a lot of the useless fat that made that game feel like such a slog at time. There's no hundreds of treasure chests icons flooding the map, and while there is less to collect, I found myself actually grateful for the lack of useless fluff. It's certainly the shortest of the three games I played, having beaten it within about a week and a half(FC4 took me the better part of a month to get through!) The environment is beautiful and certainly feels like an authentic American setting, unlike the fake East Asian Islands in FC3 and the blended mix of India, Tibet, and Thailand that was FC4. The only bad thing I have to say about this game is that its ending is a major downer. I won't spoil anything, but I didn't see it coming and a felt a little bummed after it all. Overall, Far Cry 5 is another solid entries in a solid series, and makes me curious just where Ubisoft will take us with the next game.… Expand

    Solid game. The game play is almost identical to that of Far Cry 4, with some minor tweaks. The soundtrack is amazing and the environment and dialogue is cheeky and campy which makes it even more fun. It does have some underlying serious tones, however. All-in-all, this is the same as Far Cry 4 but in a different area of the world with a different story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Like all Far Cry games, Far Cry 5 has a compelling antagonist, great gameplay and fun world to explore. Where the game falters is when it forces the player into completing story missions once you do enough side stuff. Its not a bad mechanic but it is really quite annoying when you get sucked into a story mission when you're just trying to explore. The story is alright and although Joseph Seed is a good antagonist, he's nowhere near Vaas or Pagan Min. Its a fun game, but the Far Cry formula is getting a little stale. 77/100… Expand

The gameplay is typical of the series, but still plenty of fun. There are numerous guns at your disposal that can be customized. And tons of vehicles you can use to transverse the environment.     Graphically, this is a gorgeous game running on the Dunia engine. Story-wise, it is not as good as Far Cry 3. However, it does delivers plenty of bang for your buck. If you love the franchise, then you'll probably have a good time. While nothing new, action fans should be satisfied. I would rate this with an 8.3 out of 10.    … Expand

    Really enjoyable thus far, feels like I've played for so many hours but I'm not even half way through the game. And even when I will be finished with the game, there is still Co Op to be enjoyed, and Far Cry Arcade and all the expansions. The only real problem I have is that the gameplay can sometimes be a little repetitive, and you will constantly run into enemies just driving through theReally enjoyable thus far, feels like I've played for so many hours but I'm not even half way through the game. And even when I will be finished with the game, there is still Co Op to be enjoyed, and Far Cry Arcade and all the expansions.     Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way, the story. Some love it, some hate it. I think it's pretty good, but you better be ready to throw reality aside. Obviously none of these events could happen in real life, so don't bother trying to explain why a cult managed to take over a county. Along with that, there are a couple points in the game where they should have given the player a choice, and because they force you to do certain things their emotional impact is hindered greatly. If you just go along with a couple outlandish ideas, you'll get a fantastic journey... with the most disappointing ending sack of trash ending since Mass Effect 3. My God, it's atrocious.

    So, how then does it earn an 8/10? How in the name of God did it get such a high score if the ending is a mess? Simple, because the journey there was outstanding.

    The shooting is extraordinarily well done, especially since most AAA games these days feel like you're firing PEZ dispensers. Ordering a bear to chew off an enemies face while you go and take down everyone else with explosive arrows is surprisingly fun. The flying, though wonky, can also be satisfying. I highly recommend at least conquering a couple outposts by bombing them until Dresden looks like a joke. Furthermore, land vehicles are also hundreds of times better. Long gone are crappy hunks of trash with engines strapped to them, now comes the age of Muscle cars and Semi's with machine guns! Level design has clearly gotten a larger budget. Side missions are actually fun to do now, while in 3 and 4 I completely ignored them. The Main missions, though dialogue is weak, are incredibly fun. I could go on for days praising the game play, but I only have so much time to write these.

    One gripe with the AI. Glue sniffers are more intelligent. The amount of times my dog has run in front of a semi is uncountable, as are the times I've been able to sneak past someone while they were looking in my direction in broad daylight. It's pretty bad... but in all, it doesn't ruin the game at all really.

    P.S. In summary, Farcry 5 is fun, it is a game that is meant to be picked up and played without too much thought. Is it better then 3? Hell no. Is it better then 4? Good God yes.    … Expand

    Сюжет конечо не сильная сторона игры, но в этой части лучший геймплей. Графика вполне хороша. Музыка и звуки божественны. Редактор карт неплох. Сетевая игра как в Call of Duty, но карты создают игроки, хорошая задумка.

    Far Cry is a series that has always gotten the storytelling side of things half right and that is a half more than most every FPS out there. Far Cry games probably have the best plots of any FPS I've played but they seemingly always lose steam by their endings or make a few poor decisions on the way that mar the rest of the story. It's been this way forever. Vaas in FC3 was one of the most engaging and well acted villains in gaming...but then they don't make him the main villain and you spend the 2nd half of the game chasing some lack luster bad guys who is thrown at you suddenly. FC4 tried it's hardest to capture that Vaas magic with Pagan Min but it fell flat. FC5 finally gets that dynamic of "awesome villain" right again and not only that, it does it 4 times. Joseph Seed and his 3 "heralds" are each unique and riveting to do battle with. Their voice acting is superb and their backstories and character are all on point. You run from area to area taking them down and each one is a story unto itself and each one keeps you engaged. Where FC5 falls down is that it talks a lot, each of the villains gets ample opportunity for booming voiced monologues full of bombast and emotion and each VA does a brilliant job with all these moments. But once the games finished you really come to realize that for all they said, they didn't really say anything if importance. FC5 lacks an overall narrative. They very vaguely attack the idea that the modern world has become weak, slothful and impure but thats about it. It says a lot but it doesn't seem to know its own point. By the games end you're no more sure of what exactly it was they were rebelling against than you were at the beginning. The ending, which I won't spoil, is from WAY out of left field and whilst I can understand why it'd rub people wrong, I at least respected they went somewhere I didn't see coming. A final thing with the plot is they try and force emotional attachment to some "good guys" that simply isn't there. In each region you have to save a member of the team you came in with and the game is acting as though this is of vital importance to your character but the thing is as a player, I just didn't care. I didn't care because I'd spent maybe 5 minutes with them at the start of the game before it all goes south and had no attachment whatsoever. I had more attachment to some of the Guns For Hire you use as AI buddies than the 4 characters you're meant to be attached to and "saving" . But to focus on that is harsh, the vast majority of the plot is exciting, well written and as good of an attempt as they've had since FC3. I would venture to say this is their best plot yet.

    What FC has never struggled with however is fun and FC5 is undoubtedly an absolute ton of fun to play. You transition seemlessly from tackling outposts, taking on story missions, going on wild prepper stash searches and just generally exploring and taking in the world. The world is vast and absolutely beautiful. The scale of it is staggering and there is plenty to see and do. The new approach of having to organically discover everything (locations, quests, hunting) is a very smart decision. You might take an outpost and talk to an NPC there who uncovers a quest or something for you to do next. Much more engaging than radio towers and it really helped the world feel more complete.

    The AI of enemies is quite poor and it has never been strong in FC to begin with. You'll not struggle too much taking any of them down and their detection ability is awful. With the addition of front takedowns you can literally sprint up to enemies and if you're quick enough, insta-kill them with a takedown. You don't really play FC to be challenged though, the idea is to feel like an unstoppable killing machine. Friendly AI is all over the place varying from "killing stuff before you even saw it" to "standing in front of a mounted gun as you fire it". But they are good enough for me to nearly constantly have 2 with me so there is that.

    Sound Design is brilliant, besides aforementioned voice acting there is a wealth of licensed music in the game used to great effect as they often have done in this series. The use of hymns in cult areas really adds to the atmosphere of the area as well.

    Overall I just had a great time with FC5. It isn't without its flaws, most of them relating to the lack of a strong narrative for it's strong villains to pursue but I certainly am not disappointed with the game whatsoever. I had a great time (about 25 hours) finishing it and will go back for more. Really this is everything you could want in a FC game.    … Expand

Although, the story is lacking in originality, the acting is superb. Although, the story is lacking in originality, the acting is superb. Joseph Seed, Far Cry 5’s main antagonist had me almost feeling empathetic towards his cause. The upgrade system has been simplified from that of previous games and a reputation points (RP) system has been implemented. RPs are earned by completing menial tasks which allow you to purchase new upgrades, weapons, and skins. The map is not cluttered with the confusing cluster of icons so locating specific objectives or points of interests is a lot easier.
    Far Cry 5 is not without its faults. Micro-transactions have made their way into yet another modern video game. Thankfully, these are not required to enjoy the game. They do, however, make themselves blatantly noticed in a few of the menus. There is one major gripe I have about the game’s currency. Silver bars are the game’s secondary form of currency used to purchase clothing, weapons, and ammunition. Although, these items are mostly cosmetic and can be earned by playing the game and with earned in-game money, there is still something that feels wrong about this. Again, this isn’t required and won’t completely ruin your experience but it is something to consider before purchasing.    … Expand

    I didn't play any of the other games, but I love this one. The graphics and sound are amazing, the story is great, and the combat is very fluid. Montana is breathtaking, and there are very many unique quests to do and NPCs to talk to.
    I have reduced my score to an eight because the NPCs are quite useless, so much so that I prefer to not even use them. I told Nick to bomb something and he    I didn't play any of the other games, but I love this one. The graphics and sound are amazing, the story is great, and the combat is very fluid. Montana is breathtaking, and there are very many unique quests to do and NPCs to talk to.
    I have reduced my score to an eight because the NPCs are quite useless, so much so that I prefer to not even use them. I told Nick to bomb something and he just misses over and over, then gets blown up himself. I have only been playing a couple days (after getting home from work mind you) and have already unlocked several of the Prestige guns, vehicles, etc.!! It's not hard to do, and there's not really any grinding to do so, AND I DID NOT PAY FOR THE ITEMS WITH MY REAL CASH! Just hunt your nutz off.     Second: The story is different, and you do have to forgive some things to be immersed. Like, why is the army not showing up etc. I get that it is a little bit goofy. The writing could have been a bit better as well. However, this is not a story driven game, rather a game where you create the story by your actions and how you play. That is the point of Far Cry in my opinion. An open world where the most memorable moments are from the things that happen because you decided to go left and climb a mountain, then go right and blow some dudes up as your cougar trashes enemies too.

    To sum up, I would say that it is a beautiful game, with plenty to do, memorable side missions (very important to me), memorable characters, and a whole lot of sandbox fun! The story is a little off, but that is overshadowed by how many times I hear my girlfriend say "that was crazy!" while I am playing.
    Play it for yourself. Rent it. Borrow a copy. Trust me, it is worth it.    … Expand

While it does seem a bit underwhelming the setting works better than I would have initially thought. Far Cry 5 takes the gameplay and gets rid of all the truly tedious bits. No longer do you have to climb towers to unlock the map. Nor do you have to hunt animals for better equipment. They basically have a map system that encourages exploration, and a level up system that is easy to get perks. The game is also the most open that the Far Cry series has been in a long time. You can for the most part take on any area at anytime. Of course you can't drive up and shoot the main villain in the face, but you also don't have missions that require stealth or certain perks to complete. Now while the open endedness is fine it also comes with a cost. The story is lacking because of it. You don't get as many cinematic set-pieces, the villains also never take you as a threat even after you have basically overthrown the cult. That is all because of it being so open they have to let you be able to do any of it at any time. My personal issue with this game and the story is the fact your character doesn't talk. I mean Ubisoft come on the silent protagonist is a thing of the past. I don't know too many people who believe that they are this lone badass taking on the cult. The reason I harp on this is because character will look right at you and talk, while your character just stares at them. At least they could do is cut out their tongue in the beginning, or something to explain why the silence. The villain is Joseph Seed. He is the cult leader, and unlike the previous installments in the series you see him a lot. Unfortunately he is not very interesting nor is he very charasmatic; which is weird because he is a leader of a cult you think this guy would be hard to argue with.

    Overall the game is good and if you are a Far Cry fan you probably already bought it. Those who are on the fence about this game. I would say try out Far Cry 4 (because it is much cheaper) and see if it is something you would enjoy. Until next time I got to go blow up more of Montana.    … Expand

    Well do I have to explain? No one likes a buggy/leggy game. It breaks emersion and f%cks your play trough. I still have nightmares from the assassin’s creed “no face” bug…

    Having been a big fan of the Far Cry series since it's bigger launch of FC3 back in 2012, it was refreshing to find FC5 was a successful, fun-filled adventure - one which finally overcame it's lame predecessors FC 4 and FC Primal. FC 4 to me was downright awful. Primal being ok, but nothing special. The story itself I thought was fantastic, the characters were all    SOME SPOILERS

    Having been a big fan of the Far Cry series since it's bigger launch of FC3 back in 2012, it was refreshing to find FC5 was a successful, fun-filled adventure - one which finally overcame it's lame predecessors FC 4 and FC Primal. FC 4 to me was downright awful. Primal being ok, but nothing special.

    The story itself I thought was fantastic, the characters were all amazing and the development of them all were superb. The voice acting was on point and all made very realistic characters with very realistic emotions. The map was huge and I LOVED how changing region changed not only the "boss" but the music, the beautiful loading screens, the behaviour of enemies, everything changed and you got a fresh look on a new region - something different. My favourite was probably Henbane River. It didn't get boring cleaning up the map. The soundtrack was beautiful and I actually found myself listening to the cult radio more often than the normal one! The fishing was another fun addition they added this time, not some people's cup of tea but personally, it was a bit of fun and I enjoyed it. I loved how they left the story open for a sequel, knowing they have never done that before - I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes...

    I loved some of the new ideas they introduced in 5, the prepper stashes to me were super fun and I enjoyed pretty much all of them. I loved the new system of saving various people around the regions and having them fight by your side - made things much more fun, challenging and generally entertaining. The missions and boss fights for each character were unique and fun to play. Arcade was a great addition (not that I'm a huge online player) but added a good laugh to the game. The outposts gave more detail and almost, mini stories to each one, which made them way less boring and much more interesting.

    Scoring an 8 though, this game was not perfect and it still hasn't beaten it's nearly perfect brother, FC3.

    I HATED the fact that they completely ditched the radio tower aspect to the game. I know some people didn't like them, but (I may be weird) I loved the radio towers and it was so satisfying de-fogging chunks of the map to liberate etc. I really, really hope they bring them back in future games.

    I was shocked they took out the mechanic of skinning various animals to upgrade your equipment. That was another thing I liked about the game and made FC unique. Really disappointed to see that go as equipment or any upgrading in this game only consisted of the perk points.

    The character customization was a nice and ambitious prospect, but it just didn't work. The characterization itself was good, but what's the point of having it if you can't see your character? Seemed a bit pointless to me.

    Being a trophy hunter, the trophy list disappointed me hugely. Not that a trophy list should give an overall opinion to the game itself, but for me it really brought the game down in general as I really look forward to the trophy lists. Usually there are "complete all outposts", "find .... collectibles" etc, it was replaced with silly, pointless trophies that were just not challenging. Killing a bull with my bare hands... 5 seconds later and bam, I have a trophy. They should have at least kept the all outpost trophy in, as without it, it felt a bit pointless to liberate them all. I thought they could have put a bit more of an effort in with the trophies and implemented the collectibles more, as getting one of each was silly.

    Overall, a great solid game with a fantastic story, but the "new, fresh" outlook on FC5 and it's mechanics did well in places, but disappointing to see certain things go.

    Pros:

    Looked amazing, beautiful scenery and map
    Soundtrack was truly beautiful and catchy
    Voice acting was on point, couldn't fault it at all
    Fantastic story and fun campaign
    Excellent map with huge amounts to do and exploration
    Fun new additions such as the prepper stashes, teammates and Arcade
    Great choice of weaponry
    Treating it more of a story-based game, rather than a boring/tedious FPS
    The choice to play a female character
    A solid difficulty, not too easy or too hard

    Cons:

    Getting rid of radio towers and skinning animals to upgrade equipment
    Character customization seemed pointless

    As someone who could never really get into the Far Cry series this game surprisingly impressed me. I really enjoyed the setting, the main antagonists and the supporting characters.

In summary the gameplay is fun the story is really dumb and annoying. But there is a lot of fun to be had with a friend.     This game is made very well and it's one of Ubisoft's best open worlds they have made. I wished they would have added changes to the core mechanics instead of using the same thing like in every other Far Cry game, but other than that this game was really good. You can have fun with friends in Arcade there is great DLC to have fun in. This game offers a lot than other titles in the franchise!

    Many people blame Ubisoft in creating very similar open worlds. Mostly they are right. But in case of Far Cry 5 generic Ubisoft's open world appeared to be great. Even some NPCs were very alive. Side quests are not as generic as they could be. Not Witcher 3 level but still worth to play.

    This is legendary series, and changing of setting was necessary for new part. I like Hope County, and i really enjoyed this part. It still crazy and exiting like last two parts of the series. And i think it grown up compared last parts.

    The early cut scenes were also good. The later ones were annoying or unbearable.

    I also disliked the timed sequences.

    Overall, I enjoyed the game and got my money's worth (I spent $15).

Will preface that this was my first Far Cry game, though I completed the Platinum trophy challenge and 100% the game, and can say I'm looking forward to playing another Far Cry game very soon. Whether someone who knows the other Far Cry games will think different of this game I couldn't say, but I've read others say this was their favourite, so it'll come down to taste at the end of the day.

    I really enjoyed the humour and fun in this game. Sometimes I can appreciate a game for its immersive world, the visuals, story, but can't always say 'fun'. This game for me was fun. I appreciated that you can play the game in stealth, or all guns blazing. I'm a stealth player, and the sniping was so satisfying. That said, the game has challenges, which equal perk credits, so of course you do all of those, and get to try all the weapon types in the game in the process each of which have their own pros and cons.

    And holy cow, the side missions and prepper missions were nearly all great! A highlight was a particular haunted house spot which took me off guard, it was great. And nobody talks about some of this stuff. The main story was fine, the baddies were suitably insane, and the cut scene visuals were excellent. And other missions have the goofy humour I personally love, be it mowing down farm animals or helping a flame throwing wielding nut shoot the baddies. If I compare the side missions in this to, say, the sameness of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, this game comes out on top. For me was an easy 8.    … Expand

But once I did, I was pleasantly surprised. There's a lot of "fluff" in this game that is annoying, i.e. clunky A.I., bad driving mechanics, constant bombardment of enemies on main roads.     Потрясающее очень круто поставленные катсцены, особенно с семьей Сидов:

    Главный герой, это п*здец, вот по-другому это не назовёшь. Это не какая-то личность,с внутренними переживаниями, проблемами, нет это просто манекен которым вы управляете и выполняете миссии, сама идея немого гг, это просто верх идиотизма. Ему что-то говорят, он как долб*еб молчит, его пытают, он молчит, происходит какой-то нереальный экшн, куча взрывов и беспредела? Он бл*ть молчит. Представьте если бы Джейсон Броди всю игру молчал, да половину впечатлений от третьего фар краю бы напрочь исчезли. Как и тут было бы в два раза больше впечатлений если бы он проявлял хоть какие-то эмоции, и не был пластиковой куклой.

    Само построение сюжета здесь тоже хромает. 99% квестов, ты просто п*здишь с таким же манекеном, и идёшь на миссию. В очень редких случаях это какая-то катсцена, а если это и она то мое почтение, еще раз повторюсь, они великолепные. На этом всё. Из игры мог получится настоящий шедевр который дал бы за щёку всем фар краям вместе взятым, (да-да включая третий) Но получилось просто достойная игра.    … Expand

    Основным преимуществом Far Cry 5 стала возможность проходить игру в компании с другом. Подобная возможность была еще в FC4, но там мультиплеер был сильно ограничен. Если говорить кратко, то игра становится намного интереснее при игре с другом.

    Звук/Саундтрек:
    Большое разнообразие музыкальных композиций самых разных жанров — жуткие сцены становятся еще более пугающими, а во время веселых миссий включаются задорные треки. К локализации тоже трудно придраться.

    Итог:
    Великолепное продолжение серии. Far Cry 5 сохранила достоинства предшественниц и отлично подкорректировала формулу — выглядит и ощущается свежо.    … Expand

    Gameplay is fun, it could get boring after some time but as far as you don't overplay it's okay.

    i have played both farcry 3&4 and I enjoyed 5 much more. the setting recreation in the dunia engine was superb, all the gun and car models were highly detailed and the soundtrack was absolutely fantastic in general the overall sound design was top notch. it lacked a bit in its storytelling also it wasn't as grotesque and gory as i would've liked it to be.     A solid 7.8 Very nice FPS single player. Just doesnt offer anything different from the other Far Cry games.
    The Story and atmosphere are amazing and the villains as always brilliant, theyre always the peak of the franchise.
    Also very good and immersive, beautiful open world and music, but like I said, nothing much different from 3 and 4.

    - Gameplay was pretty solid, though it felt like there were too few gun types per category. SMGs had like 3 variants of the MP5, for example. Driving controls are better this time around but flying controls are just… ugh. I’d rather have Ghost Recon Wildlands’ helicopter controls over FC5’s. Also, I must say I did NOT like how the game would force you into story missions each time you'd- Gameplay was pretty solid, though it felt like there were too few gun types per category.     - Soundtrack was fantastic. I really appreciated the hand crafted hymnals which were created specifically for Eden's Gate and the ambient Americana music while exploring fit very well.

    - John Seed’s story arc was probably the best of the three because it fit the crazy cult story line the closest. Faith Seed and Jacob Seed were essentially the same mindscrew, except one used drugs and the other used psychological conditioning. Neither were really interesting, IMO. I would have preferred they stuck with the crazy cult concept for Jacob and left Faith as the only character with metaphysical elements.

    - Fishing was on point and I spent too much time fishing. Hunting, conversely, was just a boring exercise. If I didn't HAVE to do it, I didn't bother. It was easy enough to earn money from side missions and fishing to the point where hunting wasn't really necessary.

    - Graphically, much like Guerrila Games did with Horizon a year ago, Ubisoft really nailed the Rocky Mountain west. The terrain, rivers, flora and fauna - all very well done and makes Hope County Montana a very believable and interesting location.

    - Far Cry Arcade has potential but right now there’s limited curation meaning most of the maps you get are pretty weak. Hopefully it gets better as more assets are added and people get more time behind the map creator.

    - And finally, the ending(s) were absolutely awful. I realize "Far Cry Ending is Bad" has practically become a meme at this point but these endings doubled down on that and went almost Mass Effect 3 levels of bad. I can't really go into detail here without spoilers but the endings were so disappointing that they soured my entire view of the game and makes me not want to play it again. I'm knocking a full point off the score for this fact alone.

    All in all, decent. But part of me wishes I had just rented it instead.    … Expand

    Having said that I have found it still makes for a worthwhile co-op experience and, seeing as the game is relatively cheap these days, its worth picking up to play through the entire campaign with a friend.    … Expand

    The visuals generate impressive vistas, but aggressive LOD and pop-in occasionally mar the view--even on a PS4 Pro. The textures and details are more than decent, however--especially in comparison to the previous games. The music and sound effects are solid, but recycled assets are readily apparent. There are some licensed tracks that lend flavor to certain scenes and stifle the monotony of driving down these dusty roads.

    All things considered, FC5 is best enjoyed in small doses--lest the repetitive noise of its chaos and tropes grind one's enthusiasm into Montana's dirt.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Have played for about 15 hours and am going crazy with that psalm singing blaring from every radio and house!!!! You can't turn it off!! I shot one radio in a house and that seemed to work! The radio in the car plays 2 stations: either that holy roller crap or hard punk rock!! Makes it hard to hear what NPC's are saying or that dude that contacts you all the time, Dutch. Very distracting!! At least in Far Cry 3 you had good music in the vehicles and Robbie Ray Rana in Far Cry 4 who was hilarious. And the NPC's said funny things. There's nothing funny about this fanatical cult. Story is kinda boring - I've forgotten what I'm supposed to be doing several times. Game does not explain crafting or plant gathering and there is no crafting of pouches, etc, which was fun in other games. Doesn't really seem like a Far Cry game just an open world shooter. The character you play doesn't even speak!! Therefore, you can't get interested in her/him. At least that knucklehead, Jason, talked and you kinda felt sorry for him. Other thing I can't stand is the cult members appear out of nowhere and you constantly get distracted from the quest you are on to fight them. Seems like every vehicle that drives by is a cult member out to get you. Haven't found any cool caves yet either just a lot of woods and farm animals (did get to see a horny bull!) and some wild animals. Thought I could play the Arcade thing solo but it requires Playstation Plus which I refuse to buy. Not a game that makes you want to keep playing all the time.… Expand

They're all pretty short sequences with 2-3 guys or 2 sets of 2-3 guys running or driving in. There's only a couple enemy types as well which is kind of boring.

    There's so many loading screens, it's ridiculous. You fail any quest and you're back to loading 40 seconds with a ps4 pro. I'm not even sure what it's loading sometimes.

    Multiplayer is pretty fun but that's mainly because it's mp. Sometimes the connecting player seems to have lag issues though. And they can't unlock most of the trophies from campaign unless they are the host.    … Expand

It become ridiculous and frustrating when you can't catch a break. It becomes unrealistic and takes away from the fun. No spoilers, but I hate the ending of the main story as well. I believe there is different endings but the one I got, and assume most others will get, is very weird and a awful ending. I still want to see more of this series but I want it to evolve like Assassin's Creed did last year with Origins. Far Cry 6 needs to have a compelling story that we haven't seen before. It needs to have great characters and some truly innovative gameplay changed or this series might be in trouble.… Expand

No realism, no sense in the steering system, absolutely no sense in the speed, you are at 100 km/h (60mp/h) at the road, you take the foot from the gas pedal and in less then two seconds speed is halved. If you don’t want to make a good driving system, don’t propose to put driving as such an important part of the game. I really liked the game, I was about to raise the rating to an 8 when I remembered that the game has micro transactions. If you pay real money you can get better weapons, vehicles and outfits.     It's just another familiar-but-fun open world Far Cry. The only major differences you will see is that the collectibles are tied in with sidemissions, as well as your health now only being one single regenerating bar. It's also the most open-ended game in the series to date, as you can progress to complete any of the 3 main regions from the very start, at your own pace. Overall the gameplay is starting to feel outdated, and also further plagued by glitches, a couple of them even quest-breaking.

    It's obviously not the best in the series, but I don't think it's the worst either considering the game's lasting appeal.    … Expand

    And despite this.. that feeling is exactly what I got here..
    Far Cry 5 feels like just another bland and boring shooter…
    The game takes play in a fictional hope county Montana USA
    you play as your own created character out to take down Joseph Seed… A cult leader..
    But to get to him in car cry fashion you have to regain control and liberate 3 different territories and take down his 3 siblings….
    You can take them down in and order you’d like.. though the game suggests you start in the south and make your way up, so this is exactly what I did starting with John Seed…
    And by this games roughly 28 hour long campaign you’ll understand exactly why the game suggests you start at the bottom and work your way up..
    John seeds section is easily the strongest part of the game in terms of world building and level design… every area of this section of the map is memorable, it feels worth exploring for its treasures, the side quests feel worth doing…
    And this is the majority of the campaign as well, taking me about 13 hours to clear, and then it’s on top faith seed which took about 10 hours to clear… the world building is miles weaker, but these 10 hours are saved by one of my favorite villains in video game history..
    This was hands down my favorite chunk of the game thanks to how unique her individual missions are as you’re dealing with something called the bliss.. this causes hallucinations, and a creepily charming, seductive and hypnotic crazy girl that we’ve all dated before, and then the final 5 hours of the game is dealing with the mediocre Jacob seed section…
    the world building in the north of this map is mind numbing garbage.. no heart here whatsoever…
    so I’m happy it takes up so little of the campaign time…
    But to get to these story missions you have to bring these characters out.. you have to cause mayhem around the world..
    and this is what far cry fans love about the game…
    liberating posts, destroying property, rescuing characters and animals like cheese burger the bear to call them in to help you during missions, you Can even play through the world co op with friends
    and after you’ve done enough damage you’ll be marked and they will hunt you down and you then have to escape whatever scenario you find yourself in.. sadly, though there are only 3 missions for each character aside from their introduction…
    such a massive disappointment..
    especially with a character such as faith seed..
    it’s a shame how underused she is
    I honestly would’ve preferred if she was the only character in the game, and we were constantly dealing with her tricks and seduction..

    outside of the campaign there is a decently fun arcade mode where you can build your own singpleypalyer, co op, or death match maps using assets from the past far cry games and even games like assassins creed..
    plenty to get creative with..
    but if you’re like me and creating the levels isn’t your thing you can just hop in to play other peoples maps or even have some decently fun competitive play with some alright maps thrown in there…
    there isn’t the call of duty polish here, but I had a decent amount of fun.
    Far Cry 5 has its moments of greatness despite feeling a bit lazy as it goes on.
    this would’ve been a better game had it been smaller and more polished with much more narrative focus
    I know Ubisoft would disagree with such a statement but at the end of the game I think we can all agree

    The mechanics and perk system are amazing. Seriously, they are great.
    The followers you gain are useful...but to an extent of ai. The enemy AI is laughably stupid.

    More issues than a 70yo Dog. Cool gun play even if the selection is limited and for some reason they will sell you a gun with another skin before you can earn the gun with the skin the story likes? Side activities are more fun that most of the game, not to mention the lack of your character development. Map editor is weird with its item placement and multiplayer is very basic, but they getMore issues than a 70yo Dog. Air combat sucked pretty hard and more than a few times i had mission important AI's wonder off or just fall through the world. It's too safe, no crazy missions, no crazy subplot or moments, very uninspiring story that does not show you anything impactful. Side characters are OK, Nick is probably the best as the extra missions with him are quite fun.
    Critics are giving too high score. Paid by Ubisoft, I assume.

    MECHANICS: It's a solid build up and mix of FC4 and Primal. I really like the mechanics. Game looks great on PS4 but no 60fps is just not acceptable and I will repeat this as many times as needed. We have xbox one x and ps4 pro capable of 4K but we can't do 60 even at 720p? cmon.
    Overall mechanics are good, apart from kidnaping part. I am glad to see no more XP bar!
    P.S Physics are not great though, even Far Cry 2 had better engine

    REPLAYABILITY: very small. They changed the way you do missions and side missions, some of which are long, but most are short. By playing 3-4 h a day, you can finish everything in 7-10 days.
    Despite it being open world - there is little to find and explore. Obviously no cities. Only 1 town and very small. No fortresses

    ARCADE MODE and MP: amazing potential, but at current state? It's a f-ing joke. MP maps are one of the worst. People recreate Nuketown from Call of Duty and maps from other games and they play nothing but that! You hardly can match up to play other maps, there is no playlist. I really hope they update it to fix all of these. In this current state, it's an unfinished, rushed thing.

    TLDR: game is fun, expected better story.

    Offers some mindless fun, with lots of ways to get around the map and complete the missions. You know what you're getting into with Far Cry, and it scratches the itch perfectly.

    If you look in terms of content and blasting fun ,this may be the best farcry
    If you look at it as a game ,with a story, this is one of the worst ,and is a huge disappointment on that part

    Main characters are so annoying that I only missed the oportunity to kill them and not to listen to the mad crap they were talking. Other then that, game is a bunch of fun!     This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

    Far Cry 5 established itself as one of the best in the series, The game features some gorgeous scenery, an engaging story and the overall story is great fun and the theme is very realistic. The game mixes up the missions so it doesn't get repetitive halfway through the game. Far Cry 5 is a great entry to the series for newbies and veterans alike.
