    Been playing this game for ages now, it only gets better and better with bathesda’s ongoing support and constant improvements. It has a really great positive community, give it a try, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

    Extremely crappy game now! Cannot log into either servers (disconnected from server) before logging in. Very large updates, unable to log in worth a damn and laggy as all get out. Bethesda totally jacked up the online franchise and most likely ruined this forever now. Multiple hacks/cheats found after every update, shutting down aspects of servers (such as vendors) which ruin the fame forExtremely crappy game now!     Don’t waste your money on this because they try to get you with micro transactions and the stuff you do buy, you can’t place at your camp (due to extremely low budget). You can finish the game very quickly to when it is just repetitive and gets very old.....

    Bethesda has still FAILED to address Cheater weapons that they know about and they don’t give a rats ass about fixing the game or any player reports. Biggest waste of money n time you’ll ever waste. I highly suggest stop playing and do some else very constructive. Oh, the updates are so damn big soon it’ll be the ONLY game on your system....can’t fix stupid or lazy.....    … Expand

    I am convinced any, and every perfect score given by users on this game are bots. This game was not ready for publication, not even close. At absolute best, it was a late Alpha/early Beta release.

    This isn't a game; this is an unfinished project that was handed in because they ran out of time.

As a paid for product however, this is the worst game of 2018 by a "AAA" studio. Lets summarize the problems: The game was not in a state that it could be released. Then came Bethesda and proved me wrong. I must admit defeat here. This game has so many issues and Bethesda has made many stupid decisions. Lets summarize the problems: The game was not in a state that it could be released. It had so many bugs, glitches and errors that even EA would be ashamed (Many will say that this is an impossibility;-). It was maybe not even in a Beta state. Then there was not much content (NPCs, good quests, remarkable storylines etc.). They couldn't even properly fix the bugs until today. The patches often cause more problems. The last two I remember were that reloading your weapon could deactivated parts of your armour. You need to remove and re-equip you armour to fix this (Good luck during combat). The most serious bug allowed hackers to plunder your complete inventory (Don't know if they needed even a line of sight). Then there were the problems with the collectors edition (Which I don't own). There was the mold helmet issue that could cause health problems and the duffel bag fiasco. They showed a better bag in their promotional pictures than they delivered and then were caught lying. They banned a player who reported an exploit to them to get it fixed. If I remember correctly he was the guy who made the Map 76 (I have only heard of the map by hearsay). They could not stop hackers from exploiting the games (Some make other players life a living hell). Then there is Fallout first. A detestable try to tab your cash. They want 100$ per year from you for additional content for this full prized game in a still broken state. Even the Fallout first features were broken / had bugs. If by now this is not a 0/10 game than nothing qualifies for this. They have failed in every category. I even think they needed the money to avoid problems or a bankruptcy because such incompetence would made even a government official feel humiliated. Overall while you still can have some limited fun it is not something you should defend in the slightest way. If you like Fallout you should play Fallout 3 / 4 or New Vegas. You can get the Ultimate / Game of the year editions relatively cheap and they are much better.… Expand

    this is not fallout. it is fun such as can be fortnite if you play with friend.
    if it is fun it doensnt mean it is a good IP. Horrible quest design and not deep narrative..
    is the same graphich engine of elder scrolls with great lights.

    and it went out with a full price 79€. dont buy play fallout 4, 3, new vegas.

    Tood begged me to buy skyrim I said no and then I had this dream. It was me playing as some guy that just wanted to go home and it just got worse from there.     Similar to playing with your garbage bin. No storyline and quite boring. Only up side is that there'll be less bugs playing with your garbage than Fallout 76

    That being said I did enjoy the open world exploration and the tons of mad looting ( like I do in all Fallout/TES games ). The survival, crafting and base building elements didn't really get in the way that much thankfully. It was not long before I got stuff for a small singular base and the gear I needed for many a long fun exploration.

    I even enjoyed the way Fallout 76 told it's narrative. Finding many a aftermath scene then having to pierce that together with the audio and/or text logs to figure out what happened. It was a fun little mental exercise loop for sure.

    Fallout 76 sixteen times the detail and all new rendering and lighting? Odd that this game runs so bad, but looks worse than the dated Fallout 4? Then again graphics aren't everything, but they are a nice bonus right? NPC Character models looked worse than the environments for sure and the animations are also kind of poor quality.

    The thing that makes this game fall down so hard is the combat due to the frame rate and online latency issues. It doesn't matter if I like the narrative style, exploration, looting and are ok with the survival, crafting and base building aspects. If the game runs like total crap in nearly every combat scenario.

    The 800 stash limit was another off putting game design. Anyone one who has played Fallout 3/4 & NV knows this is a measly size. Having to swap things out constantly even early game was annoying. It doesn't take long to fill that stash box up for sure.

    This game is so not optimized for the PS4 whatsoever. Shame really, because I was really getting into all the other stuff that worked. Then again FO4 runs kind of bad. So why I am even surprised at the very poor current optimization of FO76.    … Expand

    Flawed but fun.
    It has its problems, but when I play it, I get the same sense of wonder and escapism I got from Fallout 3, 4 and Skyrim.
    The launch was rocky but with the regular updates, this game has vastly improved .

    If you love coop playing, crafting, exploration, building your own shack and experimenting with different builds - this may just be the game for you.

    If you are more into flashy combat and cool story playing solo - maybe not so much. IMO, this game is best experienced with a friend or two.     Fallout 76 has a story… or mostly a premise because the rest of the story is either text and/or audio logs that I bet most people do not care to read/listen. The premise is you are one of the first people to leave the Vault like ever and you are out there to build and explore, and figure out what happened to the Overseer. That’s is all I know about the story, the rest that I played I could not care less about it.

    The game plays like previous Fallout games, but as if a third party was trying to make one and not get sued. It was so close to what we all know and love but was just missing like all the beats that make a Fallout game fun. The level up system was this new weird card pack thing where you get cards you’re your increase attributes. Only you could only have so many cards in each slot, and are limited in choice at the beginning. I honestly was rather confused on the whole deal. Being that it is MMO light the world will have random events that’ll give you goodies if you do them. It’s nothing special at the early game stages and unfortunately, I can’t speak for end game content so I have no idea if it gets better. The online community seems very troll free, I ran into many people and never had someone try and kill me nor try and be obnoxious. Sadly, one of the biggest sins of the game is the rework of the VATS system. It is now just an auto aim real time thing. In the old version, you could target body parts and get a percentage whether you’d hit it. Now you either hit the enemy or miss. That’s it. The other pain in the ass thing is the fact you now must eat and drink to make sure your stamina doesn’t decrease. I hate survival games, 90% of them are just tedious and annoying Fallout adding this mechanic gets old quick. For those of you who are worried you can’t play single player you must now go make friends I have good news and bad news. The good news is you can play this entirely single player without it being stupid difficult. The bad news is the game is boring as hell by yourself. With friends, you could have a lot of fun screwing around the wasteland, and doing this quest. By yourself it is so quiet and lonely you might want to put on a podcast and give the illusion of people.

    Overall it isn’t the God-awful mess that people should create a giant pyre to throw all known copies into so it can’t hurt anyone else. It is just a bad game that most fans of the series won’t really enjoy. I can see this game having a following though because it isn’t unplayable it just isn’t that fun to play. I know this sucks because it is a Fallout game and we love Fallout, but hey you still have 3, 4, and New Vegas so go play those. I give this a LOW RENTAL because I still think people should try it and give their thoughts. This very well may be your thing it just isn’t mine.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 is still fallout 76. Wastelanders has changed nothing about that. The game isn't better or hasn't gone through a No Man's Sky resurrection. It now just has some good stuff around the massive piles of absolute ****

Probably not because they can build their own junk shacks. So... what's the point again?

    I've played this game for just over 20 hours, and already the "main quest" is uninteresting and very predictable. It pains me to say it–because I love Fallout and have loved past BGS games–but this game is horrible. Do not buy this so developers will understand that we won't tolerate this kind of garbage in the future.    … Expand

I bought the fancy Tricentennial package and was excited and as I began to play the beta and then the standard game, and I suddenly was left empty. It almost felt like the soul of Fallout was ripped away and now I run around, shoot things and sometimes hear some random guy yell at his children or roommates. Not having chatI wanted so badly to like this since I love the franchise so much. I bought the fancy Tricentennial package and was excited and as I began to play the beta and then the standard game, and I suddenly was left empty. It almost felt like the soul of Fallout was ripped away and now I run around, shoot things and sometimes hear some random guy yell at his children or roommates. Not having chat at start and it just feels like running around and doing nothing but collecting stuff and hearing the same old story on holotapes over and over again.

    I love Bethesda and probably will even after this but this is not Fallout and should not even be associated with it. I did give it 2 points because the scenery and setting is beautiful but that gets old quick.    … Expand

    missione principale noiosa e buggatissima. pvp inesistente a dispetto del dichiarato, infatti in 35 ore di gameplay non ho avuto una singola interazione con altri player persino negli eventi. crash al ordine del giorno e un frame rate disastroso circa 20 su una 1080. il resto viene a noia, sistema di perk si interessante ma sbilanciatissimo (alcuni talenti sono fortissimi, quasimissione principale noiosa e buggatissima. pvp inesistente a dispetto del dichiarato, infatti in 35 ore di gameplay non ho avuto una singola interazione con altri player persino negli eventi. crash al ordine del giorno e un frame rate disastroso circa 20 su una 1080. il resto viene a noia, sistema di perk si interessante ma sbilanciatissimo (alcuni talenti sono fortissimi, quasi indispensabili rispetto ad altri praticamente inutili) e un ia di una seplicita imbarazzante. interre aree di nemici fermi nella t pose per bug. a volte un singolo ramoscello riesce a bloccare i colpi e a volte passano atraverso a spessi muri. Visivamente gradevole ma molto lontano dalla grafica di un gioco del 2018, modelli identici di fallout, neanche rivisitati e incollati in questo nuovo mondo di gioco. gli olonastri a volte non vengono presi correttamente, a volte nel inventario ne abbiamo piu di uno e in fine le schede di accesso sono un delirio. rimasto bloccato piu di tre ore a cercare di sbloccare una porta per la missione principale di cui la chiave non mi era stata data.… Expand

I started playing the B.E.T.A with a positive mind, thinking that all of the bugs and textures would be fixed at launch, so i bought the game. BIG MISTAKE, After 30 minutes i ran out of stuff to do.     I like Fallout but the game is kinda repetitive. You start a mission, go to the location, kill everything, go on a terminal, defend or repair something, done. The "Events" are just either defending or killing something it gets boring real fast. Since no NPC's are in this game your talking to robots the entire game and the story gets told through terminals, I'd rather have an NPC tell meI like Fallout but the game is kinda repetitive. You start a mission, go to the location, kill everything, go on a terminal, defend or repair something, done. The "Events" are just either defending or killing something it gets boring real fast. Since no NPC's are in this game your talking to robots the entire game and the story gets told through terminals, I'd rather have an NPC tell me the story then having to read it.     Gave them a pass on Fallout 4, I felt like they deserved it. But this? Nope, the unfair launch I got as a consumer to then see 50% discounts within 10 days is why this gets a 0. Pretty sure everyone else has pointed out the more legitimate gaming reasons that I don't need to mention again.

    I have managed to level up to a respectable level 49 character and own two complete sets of T-45, T-51, and T-60 armour. Each set has both Camo and Tricentennial colours.     Rad roaches nibbling my ankles is one thing but 'full on, boot you out of the game' Rad Bethesda bugs that always strike when you are low on ammo having got cornered by a posse of bad guys is the stuff of nightmares. You got it after painstakingly rebooting the game all you're dead enemies are... well, no longer dead - but you're ammo count definitely is.
    In order to build a decent future for yourself, you will need stuff. But you're store capacity is severely restricted, don't worry though, 'cause you have trader bots - that only have 200 caps - no matter where you shop on the map, it seems like they have a central banking plan - no cash so tough doo-doo.
    They buy for peanuts and sell for over inflated prices, the money you spend with them then suddenly disappears into the ether.
    The all singing and dancing build anywhere C.A.M.P is just a hotel for hobbo's unless you are lucky enough to find the schematics to build something from corrugated steel. You cannot build anything if so much as a beautifully rendered stone or twig is in your way, you cannot build near other buildings, you cannot build anywhere near you're team mates, you cannot build on bumpy ground, but there is little to no flat ground anywhere - the world got blowed up da!
    So anyway getting back to my level 49, T-60 Cammo power armour... I AM STUCK IN IT, I mean like totally stuck in it, I cannot therefore cook or boil water, I cannot craft anything only scrap everything. Bethesda said kill yourself!! wtf, no, not in real life. in the game dummy, but dat dont cure de problemo needa. It must have upset some other high level gamer's because they began nuking maps and then server hopping to do the same, unfortunately I was caught in the explosion on three consecutive maps, died and lost all my stuff including my house (Hobbo Hilton).
    So I started a new character and got myself up to level 24 only to be hit by a rather amorous ghoul who knocked me straight through the join in a wall - I found myself floating under the map for a moment before the game crashed again (tenth time in 48 hours) I rebooted only to find that I had lost all my stash, no little paper bag awaited me, and I just turned the game off and became a member of metacritic, this is my first post.    … Expand

    Fun at first, but so many broken elements to the game kills it for me. High-level areas have bullet sponge enemies that can take an armor penetrating round to the head (no armor) without dying. So many things broken in this game, I don't know where to start. Worst insult to this franchise I've ever seen. Save your money and get Fallout 3, New Vegas, or even Fallout 4.

Then hitting a prime fissure, you get the "scorched earth" event which seems impossible on PS4 because the frame rate pretty much drops to 1 FPS.

    I'm currently playing the game to get a platinum trophy as I'm a big trophy hunter and some of the easy trophies are bugged and will not pop. The game has endless bugs and feels like an alpha rather than a beta.
    Very unrewarding experience to say the least.

    This game is definitely not suitable for hardcore gamers, if you're a casual then you might enjoy it because the content will drag out but if you're a grinder like myself then you'll have done everything in a week.    … Expand

Its graphics are basically as bad as Skyrim on release. Bethesda is known for its buggy games but its like they know that we bought the game to try it out and they have most likely made all their money back with all the effort they did copy pasting grass models and terrain models. the big picture is everybody is dead and NPC's are nonexistant as far as the millions of Mr. Hand robots are concerned. my only positive experience is that it feels enough like skyrim to say i had a nostalgia moment at the beginning and it all sunk in when i realized that the game itself is pretty empty when i play alone. its mostly not what i was hoping for. dont make promises of grand graphics and shove off the sonic 06 of fallout games at $60. not worth the price of dissapointment… Expand

    I spent 3 hours wandering a wasteland just to find a Pipe pistol and maybe 5-10 rounds of ammunition. No fallout game has ever felt as bland and boring as this. There is almost no exploration worth anything. The quest line (if you even want to call it that) has you doing fetch quests from minute one. couple this with the fact that your not even fetching something to make an NPC happy andI spent 3 hours wandering a wasteland just to find a Pipe pistol and maybe 5-10 rounds of ammunition.     It had a rough start, no doubt. It still has some small hiccups but it's a great team or solo game with plenty of content to grind through

I was very excited by the promise of Npc's, new main quest lines and introducing actions and consequences    I played this game at launch and, like many others, I was massively disappointed.     I'm not a big battle royale fan, but having played nuclear winter, i found it to be a lot of fun. Its another way to play, which no game should pass up on.

    I'm not saying this game is perfect, but it is far better than it was 8 months ago. With all the new changes coming this year, i believe Fallout 76 can get better still; there's no better time to give it a go!    … Expand

    Been going on it since say 1. 600 hours in and this game keeps getting better. love having an ever evolving game in the fallout universe that I can sit down to and play with friends and people from the community. Always wanted multiplayer in bethesda games and this was done very well. they managed to make this game still feel like fallout and not like an mmo!

    The game absolutely had a rocky start (to say the least) but bottom line it is fun to play solo and even better with friends. There have been a lot of updates over the past year and if you are a Fallout fan it is well worth checking out!

    Great game now that most of the bugs and problems are gone. I recommend if you want to play fallout with a friend.

    Great game, awesome story. I've been playing since beta and have never had complaints. Bugs are taken care of swiftly. And to anyone thinking there shouldn't have been bugs to begin with, welcome to the real world. There are no games that offer the same level of content as FO76 that 1 didn't experience a bumpy launch and 2 doesn't have bugs.

    I have been here since the beta and never ended up dropping a review, but my experience in this game has been astounding! with some bugs here and there, my friends and I have enjoyed ourselves, being the self-proclaimed cleansers of the wastes. Can wait to see you all in Appalachia!

    Despite serious stability issues at launch, this game has improved significantly thanks to regular patches and new content. While the game may lack NPCs (for now), the amount of story told through holotapes, terminals, notes, and the environment is staggering.

    I bought the collectors edition and tried this game in singleplayer (online) and with friends bouth its the biggest crap.

    Disgusting, garbage game. Wouldn't waste time or money on it, I would rather walk down a street at 3 am in the cold rain with no clothes on while punching myself and kicking any tree that I come across barefoot than play this game ever again.

    However with the launch of Fallout 1st premium subscription, I have to conclude that actually our lives have become the latest Fallout game and we're currently living within a Vault-Tec social experiment. Surely Bethesda are now doing this **** on purpose? There's no other reason they would continually treat the people who play their games like garbage (i softened from the word 'fans' because I'm just not sure this nomenclature works anymore).

    The game had one of the most controversial launches from a AAA developer, with one of the most well-considered gaming title, with staunch, passionate players, that I can remember, and even in June 2019 I felt it best to put the game down to wait for them to do more 'recovery' on what should have launched as a fully-fledged product. Let's not forget, if a CD, DVD, App or other product, launched and was so poorly built it was unusable, we would be expecting refunds left right and centre. Stock would be pulled from stores or recalled to make appropriate fixes. Now clearly in the video game development world, it's fairly common place that games will launch less than perfect and try to fix with a Day 1 patch (erm, but why is that itself even okay???). But almost a year later, and having tried to join a session today, I received the same error regarding server access and my leveled character is still showing a 'Level 1' character on my name badge - a very small feature, one that I don't need, and one that doesn't work.

    Yet in spite of this, and a number of failings regarding making promises to limit microtransactions to cosmetic-only, I was hopeful that things would ultimately get better. Then they announced Fallout 1st. Now, i'm actually not interested in the features behind the paywall - I play alone, but online and just ignore other player characters - fine by me.

    But for £11.99 a month/£99 a year, Bethesda want to provide private(are they though?) servers, unlimited stash which allegedly plays child-catcher with your junk (...), a bunch of Atoms (to use on game advantage features...) and a few other things I've already forgotten about.

    Are we serious? Is Bethesda okay? That price is more than a Netflix subscription giving you access to thousands of hours of quality products (none of which stall, stutter, bug-out, boot you from the service). it's more than a Boomerang video game rental which would give you a new game to play every month. Hell, it's more than my PlayStation Plus annual membership which i brought for £37. These guys must be joking. If they think the subscription benefits are worth the subscription pricing, they need a new financial/marketing team.

    Ultimately - this game is a disappointment. I was hopeful and intending to play (i still will but. y'know, in umbrage) as I enjoy experiencing the Fallout worlds. But I just can't be hopeful for this game's future - unless Bethesda have access to market data or user research indicating we secretly enjoy being lied to, playing buggy games, and buying in-game items for game play advantage, that no one else is aware of - I don't see how they're going to keep, let alone increase, the player base and engagement in this game. Without doing so, I can't imagine it will be long before either something drastic changes at Bethesda, something drastically changes with the way they manage Fallout 76, or they decide it's not worth the return on investment and close access to vault 76 for good.    … Expand

    This game feels like a very unsuccessful past copy of this game. There are a lot of bugs in the game and the game is very boring too bad that this fallout series is very successful !!

    Absolutely horrible. Worst pre-order i ever wasted my money on. Ark was in better shape during its Alpha days than this game ever will be with how Bethesda has “managed” it.

    I like to retry games like this every once in a while to see if i can ever get my monies worth, but I’m more likely to return to the void that is Anthem before i waste my time trying Fallout 76 yet again.

    6 - (GOOD) There is a decent amount of fun to be had in these games albeit with a few noticeable drawbacks. Worth checking out at some point especially if on sale.
    7 - (GREAT) A game that has some flaws but all in all is a great game worth every penny of its purchase price.
    8 - (AMAZING) Game of the year contender only allowing for some minor flaws.
    9 - (SUPERB) One of if not the best game released that year, truly special.

    So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

    Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

    Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
