Was willing to get past the disappointment of the whole "no npc's" thing and bought the game. Have to say sad does not begin to describe how this game is, the bugs would be tolerable if the story was interesting (spoiler alert it isn't) while the combat remains clunky and unrefined at best.

o yes the game has it's flaws but as i stated earlier the bugs just break so much of this that it feels like a slap in the face that bethesda wants 60 bucks for this, i mean pubg has fewer issues than this (which is saying something). For instance the t-pose enemies, quest markers over dead corpses that have nothing to do with the quest, c.a.m.p setup destroying your building to force you to start over, enemies that LITERALLY do not die no matter how much you shoot or hit them, and mothman who i happened to come across and yes was the hostile variant who stood in front of me while he watched me kill him after 10 minutes of me hacking away at him. So yes the issues in this aren't small not by a long shot.

In short it's a buggy game that lacks depth while providing the user a very unsatisfying experience overall. So while people say "It's a multiplayer spin off it's not meant for you it's meant to be played with friends", just remember that playing games with friends is enjoyable in general, you could do the same in CoD, fortnite, LoL, Overwatch or so many other games and have just as much fun and enjoyment (if not more in all) and feel better than myself for putting up with this game.

The game is literally the previous game fallout 4, but some how uglier buggier and all of the story ripped out of it. But they did add online so you can all join together and talk about how crappy the game is.

This is a no effort game! On top of this without the characters within the Fallout Universe to interact with it removes the soul of Fallout.
It's a Survival game with a Fallout skin. Furthermore the bugs and continued use of the creation engine without the engine being fixed is just bad not even including the motion sickness reported by myself and 1/2 of the people watching my stream

They have no intent on fixing this.
Lastly, Fallout is about Choice and Consequence. This world has no choices to be made and no consequences to suffer or enjoy.
I won't even talk about the broken PvP or how the system is far too easy to abuse. Just this game, is just bad as a game, it's terrible and fails on so many levels as a game and as a Fallout Game It is WORSE than Brotherhood of Steel.
I never thought I'd say that but I'd rather play Fallout: BoS than this.

Well, no, Bethesda used a fallout title to get some people to buy it. The game is not new, but 95% consists of fallout 4, with the same presets. There is a difference between the 4th part and f76 - 200 years, but the world hasn’t changed in that time, seriously? There are many bugs, and the price of this game, to put it mildly, is a bit overpriced. Lor? Forget it. Super mutants a couple of decades before the creator?

    Hello, plot, where are you?
You are a resident of the refuge, go out with your neighbors. What to do? That's right, collect garbage, make a house of **** and shoot each other. Most recently, have you been hiding from global nuclear war? Now we find the access codes and we will launch rockets left and right.

Tasks? Quests? When I played f4 I couldn’t have thought that the quests of Preston Garvey about the cleansing of settlements, against the background of a new game of the series, would seem to me perfectly thought out.

Buggy sandbox without a plot, a game parasitizing on a great name.
It is a pity you can not put a negative assessment.

Some 10 years ago such a game would not even be released, with so many bugs. Now it has become the norm. Here you share with bugs, a lot of them - we will decide. Previously, this was what beta testing was necessary for.

People who praise such **** in 10 years will happily consume even more flawed **** justifying the laziness and greed of publishers and developers.

P.S. To sell THIS at the price of RDR2 is a standard of impudence.

First off this is much more of an online Survival/ Sandbox/RPG than an MMO. For me that is a good thing. There is a limited number of people in a world at anytime. I see one or two people occasionally, maybe participate in an event with them then we go on our own way. I like that I can join my friends worlds and play together, and I love that you can fast travel to your teammates camps for free which will definitely come in handy later in the game. People have complained about people running and jumping and blocking doorways, I personally have not had this issue even once.

I have not had any bugs so far, and I have only lagged twice. I am playing on a PS4 pro though so I can't speak for other consoles.

At first the stash limit was upsetting for me, until I read up on it and learned that I was really just doing it wrong. Scrap your junk first and space is no longer an issue. I mean sure I can't store more than a few weapons and armor but it is much more worth it to scrap them as you have a high chance of learning a MOD for that weapon (considering the steep price for plans in this game it is extremely valuable).

The C.A.M.P. building is fun for me. I've built a nice two story shack, have all my crafting, power, and a decent amount of defence. It does mildly suck that I don't have everything unlocked from the get go, but that is kind of the point of the game. My favorite part of Fallout 4 was building up my settlements, and I'd have an insanely advanced settlement before level 10 which honestly didn't make sense. Part of me enjoys that I have to put more effort into it for 76.

I enjoy the survival aspect of the game, I knew it was going to be there going in so it wasn't a surprise for me. I craft up food and/or water when I need to but I actually find a decent amount of food just from looting, and prewar food doesn't decay like food you make.. Really making disease free water is more time consuming but I know that I will get plans for a water purifier later on and that won't be much of an issue anymore.

Haven't seen a nuke yet, and the nukes work differently than you'd expect from what I read so I'm not worried about that. No one has tried to grief me in any way shape or form. I'm aware it may become more of a thing later on but they did add a lot of things to make it entirely unbeneficial to PK. They also say they are planning on making private worlds a thing early on so I'm excited for that.

The leveling of enemies is actually pretty good. I have not ran in to anything more than 5 levels above me (except for one scary legendary encounter which I just hid in my shack during) but I have been doing my quests and sticking to the starting area, like any survival game if you explore too far ahead too fast you'd expect to get destroyed. I've died twice and you drop a SMALL amount of junk from your inventory. It really doesn't affect anything though as junk is readily available everywhere. You don't lose any caps so that is good.

There is much more of a variety of enemies and wildlife than the last game, and this is exciting for me. I've already seen many new creatures and I haven't even fully explored the forest area yet.

On to things I don't like, yeah unless you wanna read text and listen to holotapes the story is not going to exist. However, there are some interesting robot dialogs as well as the hilarious traveling super mutant merchant you may happen upon. I had a robot vendor tell me there is nothing better than a woman in uniform (which my character is wearing). So while the story is lacking there are still some fun things you can find if you keep your eyes and ears open.

The proportion of caps earned to cost of buying things is extremely high. Any weapon only sells for MAYBE 5 caps early on usually 2, where plans to build and mod new things are anywhere from 100-500 caps. Which is why I mentioned earlier scrap, scrap, scrap. I don't use the drugs in th game so I sell all my extra aid that isn't food, water, radaway or stimpacks. I also am beginning to make a pretty penny by bulking up my surplus of some items like steel scraps and selling them (you can only sell in bulk). I'm guessing that player trading will be a bigger source of income for me eventually.

There isn't enough armor drops (yet). I hope it will increase. This means I have a ton of available weapon mods but few for armor.

As far as graphics I am neutral. It's the same as fall out 4 with a better environment.

All in all I have a lot of hope for this game. I was expecting it to be a cross between fallout 4 and an open minecraft world (I love minecraft) and honestly that's exactly what it has been so far. If you don't go into the game expecting an amazing fallout rpg story and nitpicking everything it's actually a lot of fun.

PS to all the babies whining about micro transactions you can get that currency in game too, quite easily.

On top of it all, playing it literally makes me sick. The FOV is so bad, the framerate so poor and inconsistency, a terrible blur you can't disable covering everything.

Having played the beta and live, I can say that my experience playing solo was just ok.

I enjoy exploring a new wasteland with fallout mechanics. But, the lack of an engaging story and non-robot npcs is sorely missed.

The idea that I can run around a wasteland with friends is fun, and its an easy world to slip into. Of all the things that disappoint me about Fallout 76, the Bethesda apologists have to be the worst part. Anyone making a claim that any and every bad review of this game is coming from someone who hasn't played it is making a massive generalization and huge logical fallacy. But nothing they do can amount to the mistake Bethesda made when they decided to make this game.

    Let me be clear
Of all the things that disappoint me about Fallout 76, the Bethesda apologists have to be the worst part. Anyone making a claim that any and every bad review of this game is coming from someone who hasn't played it is making a massive generalization and huge logical fallacy. But nothing they do can amount to the mistake Bethesda made when they decided to make this game.

Let me be clear about a couple things first: I wanted a multiplayer Fallout game; I wanted a new setting, and the one they chose for Fallout 76 is great; I've been a lifelong fan of Bethesda despite a long history of flawed launches and games that are total messes.

And let's also be clear about a things on the flip side: Fallout 76 is not a Fallout game and never should have been referred to as such; Bethesda is a different company today than they were years ago, and not in a good way; Fallout 76 on its own is an awful title intended to exploit consumers. And because I'll inevitably be referred to by some Bethesda apologist sheep as a "salty fanboy who doesn't have the game" I'll just go ahead and prove everything I've said.

    1. Fallout traditionally is unpredictable and focuses VERY heavily on choice. One action here creates a totally different scenario at this point. Characters "remember" your choices and the world feels alive as a result. But Fallout 76 does not have a single NPC in it. They used this as a selling point for this game! Every quest is predictable. For every fetch marker that tells you to talk to Person A, you already know that they're dead or gone. If the game world is inherently dead, then it renders the potential to have any meaningful choice and any semblance of gravity completely null. If the game world is dead, the game is dead, and it's boring to watch, boring to play, and a lazy design decision.

    2. The only polished feature in this game is the Atom Shop, where you pay real money to buy cosmetics and features in the game. I suppose it's worth noting that you don't have to buy Atoms to get them, but it's yet another game where Bethesda needlessly implemented microtransactions and made it a center piece of the game. Fallout Shelter is an entirely single-player game and relies on the player buying loot boxes to progress. It's also worth noting that features that players (including the ones mindlessly rating the game as a 10) asked for simple QoL features that every game has natively, like ultra-wide support, FOV sliders, and oh... I don't know... not enabling speed hacks on the server by editing a client configuration file.

    3. This game cannot be refunded. For some reason I cannot fathom, no one is talking about this. It's very clearly written on Bethesda.net under their store policy that all digital purchases that are redeemed cannot under any circumstances except those as required by law be refunded by Bethesda. At first, I wondered why they wouldn't release the game on Steam. I thought it might have to do with aggregate user reviews, and maybe that's part of it, but the main reason is almost certainly the fact that Steam would refund people who purchased Fallout 76 if they didn't like it, and it would seem that most don't. Pre-orders could be cancelled had they not been redeemed, but anything purchased or redeemed through the Bethesda launcher itself cannot and will not be unless there is a change in Bethesda's policy.

    4. No modding support until late 2019. This is asinine. They claim their upgrades to the Creation Engine are partly to help modders create content, and yet they hold off on releasing it for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, both games that seriously needed modders' help just to get the game to run at an acceptable level. Regardless of whether or not they support modding, the game is an open book. Go ahead and edit packets and modify files, the server doesn't check to see if any of it's modified. There's a new account every day of someone exploiting the game. A few hours ago, someone figured out how to access nuke launch codes whenever they want.

    5. Reused assets, retconned lore. Yeah, I'm a Fallout fanboy. I only care that the story I spent hours reading about in previous Fallout games is worthless in the face of Fallout 76 and Emil Pagliarulo. Thanks for the radiant quests, I guess I'll take those in exchange for you spitting on the grave of Interplay and Black Isle who, might I add, exuded more creativity and passion in a few days than the Bethesda of today can in years.

    6. They are still using an engine from 2006 at the earliest. If you feed me a lie about how the Creation Engine isn't that old, you have no idea what you're talking about. The engine version they licensed comes from the version they used for Oblivion at the earliest, Fallout 3 at the latest. That's the version they were allowed to work on for the Creation Engine. It is a budget engine covered in duct tape, and the fact they're using it still shows they have zero respect for you and I as fans.

Yes, they add more depth, but it makes sense in this case. It's only 25 years after the bombs dropped, AND there is the threat of the Scorched, which you need to nuke to defeat. This game is still fun, and because of that, this game deserves less hate. People keep talking about "Oh, it's buggy" and "Oh, it crashes". 1: It is not buggy and 2: It does not crash. Fallout 76 is definitely a game with flaws, but I do not understand the people who are giving the game a zero. The game suffers from bugs, sometimes pretty major ones that cause hard crashes, but nothing worse than any other Bethesda game at launch. This isn't the typical Fallout experience, and if you intend to buy this game and you are expecting that, you are simply not going to enjoy yourself. If you enjoy experiencing the lore or narrative of Fallout, this is not a game for you. If you enjoy interesting companions who grow alongside you, this is not a game for you. If you enjoy a world that feels lived in, this is not a game for you. However, if you played one of the Fallout games and thought, "This would be even better if my friend could jump in," then this is the game for you. You can spend endless hours running around with your friends, building bases, completing quests, or hunting down strange enemies. I would not, however, recommend playing this game solo. If you play this game solo, every minor issue will become frustrating, and the major issues will be rage-inducing. You'll find yourself in encounters which were obviously designed for multiple players, often resulting in your own death or retreat.
Overall, Fallout 76 is mediocre. Yes, you can find some fun in it, but you will have to deal with many technical issues (at least for now) and there is not a very good story behind the game. I would recommend playing this game with friends or not at all.

Writing a review because I know mostly vocal negative gamers will share their experience. Most of those who liked the game will stay silent and won't complain.

With that said, let me start by saying that I love this game, and I'd really put it down for positive instead of mixed, but THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY but some of us genuinely love it! This is not singleplayer Fallout

With that said, let me start by saying that I love this game, and I'd really put it down for positive instead of mixed, but THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY but some of us genuinely love it! This is not singleplayer Fallout experience and it's not meant to be, but that's what most criticisms are about. If you're really interested, I'd look at both side of the story, not just the negative or positive.

Firstly, the game feels like Fallout 4. It was designed to be multiplayer Fallout 4. It's not Rust, or Ark, or PUBG. It feels like F4. It's exploration survival. I've played solo and that is the most accurate way I can describe it. However, as it is meant to be multiplayer, there are features added and taken away. It is the nature of the genre. Really if you stopped reading my review by now, the one thing you should take away is that it is meant to be a multiplayer! It's also not meant to be Fallout 5.

Onto gameplay, combat mostly similar to Fallout 4 with improved melee. Obviously, time stopping/delaying VATS was taken out, but real time VATS has its advantages. If you're getting swarmed and you cant aim quick, use VATS. It's also great with melee.

Crafting is amazing! There's so many stuff to craft. Crafting was present in F4, but this is the first time I've actively used the crafting system, and had positive experience with it. CAMP system though needs improvement. Not a lot of options atm, but probably less priority than fixing the game.

The big thing is probably the quest system. There is a narrative. Like F3 and F4 though, the main quests are mediocre but where they really shine is the side quests. Not all quests end up with dead people at the end or robots. This is probably most likely from people who just rushed through the main story. There are so many other things to do! They're not just fetch quests either. The addition of events makes it more fun, but again, this is designed for multiplayer. I've played an event solo. It is difficult but doable. But when I joined other people, it was rewarding to work on something together

So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
