Although it is undeniably one of the most over hyped games this year, Fallout 4 is still a joy to play. There is no doubt that the gameplay has been significantly simplified when compared to other Fallout titles, this does not mean that this game is terrible.

    [SETTING]
Fallout 4 takes place in the Commonwealth, which is somewhat less charming or interesting than its predecessors. New Vegas, which is probably one of the best Fallout games, was extremely great in that it had great characters, factions, and environments compared to Fallout 4. FO4 suffers from its lack of uniqueness. Everything in this game looks great, but it doesn't evoke the same awe and wonder that one remembers having when they first played Fallout 3 or NV.

    [GAMEPLAY]
Gameplay has also changed significantly, whether this be for the better or for the worse.

The voice acting in this game is undeniably extremely well done, although the new conversation system that has been employed is less so. The new "Mass Effect" dialogue system feels too simplistic when compared to the expansive dialogue options given in the past two Fallout installments. It seems like a downgrade rather than an evolution. However, the story is more engaging thanks to the fully voice-acted protagonist, which gives the series more depth as you can hear and feel the emotions of the character you play (although this does admittedly ruin the idea that "you" are the character).

Gunplay and VATS is extremely well-done this time around. There is more of an incentive to play Fallout like a shooter, as the gunplay has been overhauled to play like a standard FPS. This a welcome change to the clunky mechanics in previous games. In addition, VATS feels more intense, as the game no longer pauses, which gives a sense of urgency. I have no qualms about these elements of gameplay.

The RPG elements of the game are overly simplistic, with many removals of systems such as individual skill stats. The whole system is now reliant on the perk system, which simplifies the game. I am not a big fan of this, as FO4 now feels less like a Fallout-game and more like Skyrim.

    [CONTENT]
It's Fallout, which means there is plenty to see and do. Quests are great fun and there is enough to keep players happy for months.

The music is on par with previous installments. I find myself humming these tunes even when I am out of the game.

The story is great and is quite similar to that of Fallout 3. I am not going to go into much detail, but if you liked the kind of story Fallout 3 had, you'll like the one here.

    [PERFORMANCE]
On the PS4, the game has several framerate issues, but nothing to be overly concerned with. Other than that, the game runs fairly well at a (usually) constant 30FPS.

    [CONCLUSION]
FO4 is a good game. I have spent countless hours playing and quite like what I'm seeing. However, there is no doubt that this is not the Fallout we were expecting. The depth and elements that made Fallout 3 and NV so immersive have either been removed, changed, or simplified. If you don't mind these changes, you will find Fallout 4 to be a game that will be worthy of your time.

Would get a 10/10 but the loading screens are stupidly long. Visually it is a pretty good game. There are lots of spots where the game can bug out, though.

When looked at on its own Fallout 4 is an incredible open world game, but really starts to show its age when considering the plethora of fantastic 2015 open world games, my personal favourite being Dying Light for its novel take on Zombies and Open World Gaming.

When considered having played Skyrim and Fallout 3 this game does feel a little lazy, with very few novel systems which shine, and a dumbed down leveling system which had so much potential.

As a warning I have yet to complete the games main storyline, but when you have spent at least 50 hours JUST exploring the world, it speaks volumes about the quality provided.
I'll start on the Pro's in the order I witnessed them:
-Physical Character Creation is fantastic. My only qualm is it needed more presets...

-Voice Acting is incredible. Nolan North did his job fantastically, as did Courtney Taylor, that being said the latter's voice can wear you down after a while. Way too... excitable? Obviously this is subjective.

-Intro destroys Fallout 3s, but leads to major pace problems later. New Vegas ambiguity arguably better as a result, but I personally enjoyed it more than F:NVs more coherent intro.

-Lighting... Gorgeous. Colour Palette is also much improved, but would like to have seen a little more.

-New gameplay is, regardless of what other people are saying, perfectly fine for fallout. VATS is vastly improved, and new Critical system is fantastic.

-Power Armour is well done. Gives you a sense of being a super soldier.

-Radiation storms and feral ghouls. The storms cloud your screen in green, and the ghouls evoke a rabid zombie, and can catch you by surprise.

-Worldly storytelling (non-quest) is fantastic. With tales of twins birthdays going astray, to trailer park last stands, they are my favourite element so far.

    The mediocres:
-New radiation system is great. However, it does not truly push you into survival mode. Would have been nice to see it progressively cause more injuries as it increases. It does not help that Radaway takes away a high 300 rads, and doctors only charge ~15ish caps to clear. Too easy to tackle.

-Quests are good, HOWEVER, they tie to almost nothing most of the time. More so they lack multiple paths to achieving them, which is disappointing by todays standard.
Quests really need to impact the world around you. Witcher 3 did this very well, with a handful of quests impacting an entire landscape in noticeable ways. Bethesda have been a leading RPG developer for too long to not be developing quests with the world in mind.

-New crafting system is great but really needs to do more. Now you dont actually craft in this game, you only mod. This makes sense, however, one crafting element that is missed is the crafting of munitions. It really feels like a step backward.
The loss of durability on weapons are also missed, and although many approve of this, I personally think it creates a world where looting junk becomes more important than looting weapons. It also detracts from a sense of surviving in the wastes.

-Settlements. This is neither pro nor con. If you have patience the system is good enough, but thats it. It handles poorly, your settlements are restricted visually to places built from junk (which they are, but its flipping ugly), its hard to figure out if a settler has a job already, and the lack of ledgers to help you manage your settlements hurts it big time. Not to mention you are capped to about 20 settlers which is rubbish. I also feel like they missed a nifty trick by not giving your settlers names, and unworkable families who come along for the ride.

-Raiders and super mutants are largely unchanged mechanically. Suiciders and Power-Armour weilding raiders are nice additions, however, they are still essentially one unified gang. Was hoping for unique gangs battling for territory, impacting their surrounding areas in unique ways.

    The poor:
-SPECIAL is no longer special. In an attempt to create an all perk system your SPECIAL stats feel like perks. SPECIAL should have more weight to it, really distinguishing one character build from another, and you should not be able to raise your SPECIAL every level.

-Perk system is not bad, however, the perks are boring. Perks should unlock abilities rather than providing incremental boosts and taking over SPECIALs job. E.g. Gunslinger should not increase pistol damage, but give you a disarm option in VATS or something along those lines.

-Lack of sizeable cities. Diamond City is AMAZING, however, seeing what Bethesda did in Skyrim makes you wish for more. This is meant to be the most lived in Wasteland.

-Game forces you to build settlements. Although you can ignore, the view of 20% happiness on the map drags you in.

-Where is hardcore mode? This leads back to the points above, the game never truly incites a sense of anguish or need to survive. At least not for yourself, the world tells a completely different story.

Verdict: 8/10. Bethesda may have lost their RPG crown in 2015.

After reading some tips online and trying again, I now sink at least 5 hours a night into the game and am having a really wonderful time. I think the breadth of companions are wonderful; I haven't run across a bad voice actor yet (Piper is especially great); the assets are astoundingly varied; the story has just enough new and old; the game is nearly perfect. *Nearly,* I say. Thing is, I ran into a major game-breaking bug when one of the side quests decided to tag my player character as "essential" and prevent her from ever dying. That's fun for about an hour, and then you realize that's a really terrible bug to leave in the finished product. So, I'd like to give a 10 or even 9, but the bugs detract from this otherwise astonishing game. Expand

After thousands of hours of previous Fallouts on PC I decided to give the console version of Fallout 4 a try. I'm impressed once again. The story is beautiful, well written and full of permanent choices that change the script dramatically, so you'll want to play this through a few times. Game mechanics simply work with a couple of exceptions:

    - Quests are bugging, so expect to reload

The major problem that lowers the grade to 8 (this would be a clear 10 otherwise) is the unbearable time that the engine takes to load the environment. Right now I'm at level 40, having progressed about half of the game so far. The loading screens with the standard 500GB HDD take about 3-5 mins each, lasting longer every level.

Overall, a very solid game. Probably gets the GOTY-award hands down.

Gameplay: Addictive. Lots of locations to explore, legendary creatures to find, collectables to loot and lots of things to craft. Combat mechanics have greatly been improved. Levelling system has been oversimplified, no weapon conditioning which drags the rating down. Alot of similarity to Fallout 3. 7/10

Control: Companion commands has some glaring problems. Rest of the game has some issues but overall controls have been greatly improved. 7/10

Framerate cap and bugs/glitches are exlcuded from this review, not significantly noticeable during gameplay, and bugs are rare from my experience. Would make final rating 7/10 if included.

10/10 because I made a chick character and she is freaking cute as f*** in her hard hat.

Sucks that you can't jimmy the broken weapons together but instead have to carry around like 10 shotguns instead of say 2 that are at full health. It's hard to drop those 10 shotguns/weapons since I am used to hoarding them and using them to fix my damaged ones. Bit laggy when a lot of **** goes

Bit laggy when a lot of **** goes down but I find the game pretty smooth in most cases.

To me it does have the Fallout feel/experience that other people seem to say it is missing. I feel as though the combat is similar to F3 as are most things in the game. I never finished F3 but I got a damn long way through it. I feel as though this will be the one that I finish.

If you want a big game with crafting of settlements/camps/weapons/armour and the ability to shoot/stab/whack/blow up your enemies then this is for you. Not to mention the skill tree is farking massive and the abilities you get with the levels/perks are pretty epic.

Actual score is 8/10 now that I've calmed down about the cuteness of my character.

For a 10 I would need a few of the old things back from F3, and the drop in framerate sometimes during a bit of heavy combat, etc takes away from the immersive experience that I should have. Also the beginning of the game focuses on your kid being kidnapped, but then you have a buttfkload of unrelated quests that take your time away from finding your kid. You realise that your baby is actually 10 yrs old because you were frozen for another 10 years after your kid was robbed from you, then you waste another 10 years on these damn side quests whilst complaining about how you need to find your kid ASAP. WHY AM I CLEARING BUILDINGS FOR QUESTS DEN? Mek no sense.

I also noticed that the patch updates also seem to fix a lot of the bugs and frame rate problems that were present last time I played. This has definitely made the game a lot smoother and better.
    Pros:
    Map size is pretty big
Easy to get lost and explore
    Tons of things to do
Soundtrack is really good for setting
    Customization is plentiful

    Cons:
Story could have been so much better
    Voice acting needs improvement
Graphics could have also been much better
Game focuses to much on creating a community. Why?

Overall, this game is well worth adding to any collection of RPG's especially for the $30.00 price tag. Is this The Witcher 3 quality of story telling? No, but this game is in it's own genre of exploration with little RPG elements that has very little effect on the story. Pick a direction and go, this is what this game is known for.

I mean, Bethesda stayed silent for the whole fan-made survivor2288 or whatever that was. WE created the hype. Sorry if it is not as you've heard, so my advise is to forget all of what you've heard before the game is released, and play the game yourself, because I'd recommend.

As for the game, I will agree with some reviews here that Bethesda could've spent more time on Fallout 4. Fallout 4 still suffers in having a mediocre main storyline; however, it makes up in side quests and little story bits you find in notes or terminals and holotapes. Although, the amount of side quests doesn't live up to Skyrim. This can be attributed to Fallout 4 and Skyrim having very different styles, i.e. Skyrim is an epic fantasy setting and so you expect the hero to be given quests left and right, while Fallout 4 is set in post-apocalyptia Wasteland.
In saying this, this is where Bethesda's attention to details come to play. Skyrim guides you through the world through quests. You are the story. Fallout 4, however, lets you roam in an exciting, detailed, and open world where the little details tell you the many stories of Pre-War and Post-War Boston. It reminds us that there used to be people in these places, and still have people in some.

Settlements- This is a great system which lets you participate in the world you are living in. While most games remain static, Fallout 4 lets you rebuild the world, because it makes sense for you to do so. The system is a bit clunky in that some of its features feels a bit restrictive, and the options are quite lacking. However, I think this is probably because of problems with the technology and they had to trade some features out in order to fix problems. It's a great system and actually is worth it over time, however, the radiant quests are quite annoying, which puts off people.

Crafting- Fallout 4 has an in depth crafting system with lots of choices for weapon and armor mods. It also lets you scrap your "useless" items to make things which are more useful to you, just like a true scavver would. There are actually some recipes scattered in the world which you can use to craft unique food items and mods. My only complaint with the new weapon system is that the Legendary "effects" are basically enchants, which breaks my immersion, and they could probably have re-used the variation in ammos in FNV to cover some of these effects.

Dialogue- I don't have a problem with it since I got used to ME. However, they probably should have added more variation to the dialogue options (there's always just 4 options all the time unlike how you can have "more dialogue options" in one of the wheel direction in ME)

Storyline- While I did say it's mediocre, the story is actually interesting for people like who ponders on philosophy or politics. I think the problem is that it is a bit high-brow for some of the demographic. There's a lot of philosophical questions you have to face playing through the main questline, and that for me, is a reward in itself. However, you don't really see a lot of this change in the game, and the ending cutscenes leaves much to be desired.

Combat- Definitely better than in Fallout 3 and NV. This is true for whether you prefer VATS or aiming down yourself. Now people complain about having Power Armor at the start of the game, but they neglect to add how you need to maintain that armor, and you'd have to supply it with fuel to use it optimally. And you're gonna need it! You're not the only who has access to Power Armor. Raiders have em. Mercenaries have em. And against some enemies, e.g. robots, Deathclaws, a boss Mirelurk, you'll definitely need it.

You can claim that I'm just a Bethesda fanboy, and that may be true. While I'd recommend this game if you love Fallout 3 and NV, I'll happily admit that Fallout 4 isn't GOTY material. I do think it's more that The Witcher has had more time to develop than Fallout 4 but I digress.

While not perfect Fallout 4 is a gripping, sometime stunning and profoundly enjoyable game. It's story (like Fallout 3's and Fallout new Vegas's, and Skyrim's) is lacking in tension due to the player's ability to choose NOT to do the main quest. It is hard to be fair to the game if one attacks it due to its story. Like all Bethesda RPGs the story is teh way in, the player ultimately chooses their own way through the story.

That said in comparison to Skyrim, Fallout 4 lacks something else in this respect. The programmers have been too faithful to the post-apocalyptic setting. So much so that it is hard to feel "at home in" in the same way that one can in Skyrim.

The games graphics are a mixed bag. The scenery is breathtaking, the monsters are horrifying, the armours are excellent (the armor system itself is worthy of a note of its own, see below), but the character's and NPCs' face models and textures are ghastly. Given that the Skyrim modding community has had to fix this and has achieved amazing results I have no doubt the Fallout modders will do the same soon enough. But that said why do they need to? Why is Bethesda choosing to make such poor quality face models?

The game system engine has been upgraded and the changes are great. The new armour system is ingenious and weapon modding is good fun. Settlement building is in my opinion however tedious but YMMV. Playing on the PS4 the graphics are solid, the frame-rate is fairly steady (similar to the Witcher 3, there some fps drops occasionally but not often) and the controls are fairly intuitive. The only serious user interface issue I encounter is its sorting of some important quest items (especially holotapes) into a catchall "MISC" menu where they are inevitably lost. This was a crazy decision by the developers and needs to be fixed.

The lost of points in this review are less about the game itself however than the lack of imagination on Bethesda's part. If you've played Oblivion and Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas you will find this game repeating the same type of quests (fetch item, clear area, rescue loved one, pick a side) played out with little narrative depth, and little variation from the 2006 formula (or 2002 formula if you've played Morrowind).

Unfortunately I can't see myself sinking over a thousand hours into Fallout 4. Like it's sibling titles, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas once finished I wont go back to the wasteland. The success of Skyrim over 4 years ago still over shadows Fallout and the impact of games like Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid V on the open world oeuvre has left Bethesda's tried and trusted formula looking a little old and tired, if no less engaging.

Its going to feel a little recycled since its IN THE SAME GOD DAMN WORLD. The same mobs, the same mechanics, the same story lines. Yes, they could have been more innovative, yes they could have done more with the 7 years they had. But they have promised to improve and the first round of dlc looks pretty damn good.

As you can tell, the side quests of this game is actually boring and it doesn't feel it impacts the overall story. The dialogue is also frustrating because it was watered down. At least the game play is great and the level design is also great.

Because i like the game overall i don't really pay attention to the bad parts, but i can imagine people who dislike the game, maybe because they were disappointed, focus on the bad things and make a big deal about them. On the base of it, the game is painfully easy, the dialogue choices are lame, and the two endings have virtually no consequences whatsoever, but I can't deny how fun this game is. V.A.T.S has improved from Fallout 3, the game soundtrack is virtually the same, but it's still incredible, and some of the companions have great dialogue too.

The dialogue response options are really watered down and basic. Most of the time you'll find yourself just pressing X to move forward through the dialogue because you know it's going to be what you'll end up choosing anymore. There aren't any consequences to your decisions other than if you'll end up fighting some NPC's or not. The companion AI is dumb. Like seriously dumb. And as rare as certain types of ammo is you'll never want to equip them with good weapons since any weapon other than their default will require you provide them ammo as well. If you're playing a stealth or sniper build you'll want no companions at all or just Dogmeat, anyone else will draw attention. There should have been an option to command a companion to be aggressive, defensive, hang behind, and stuff like that. Not simply "wait." If I tell them to wait I end up just ignoring them.

The main story is okay. Not great. I'm far more interested in all the side quests and the people of the world. I find them a lot more interesting and spend most my time engaged in exploration or doing things for the people of this world, putting the main plot quest on hold.

This game could easily be a 10/10, but because they watered down the RPG element, the dialogue choices, and weak plot, I'm going to have to chop it down to a solid 8/10. This game is my favorite of the Fallout series so far even with the changes they've made. I LOVE that I'm able to play it the way I want as more of a FPS and only using VATS for really critical and complex situations. Previous games were way too VATS heavy. I like the new skills system, I find it far more useful and easy to see and understand. Building my character is easier the way they have it now.

This is in my top game's list, go buy it, worth every penny.

Its a beautiful apocalyptic world with amazing loot and the best part that I liked is the Lock Picking and Hacking Computers because it takes technique to open and that makes you feel smart or else it can get really irritated if you stuck.
With positives there are also negatives, and the negatives of this game is that the constant drop of Frame Rate, Normal Graphics, & No Life in Characters, I mean seriously, all the characters look dead, like they died even before the bombs fell and now all of them are robots.
I usually focus on the content, story and length of the game. The Apocalyptic content is great, the length of game really deserves the $60 purchase price (BTW I bought it really late so I got it for $30) but the story is really vague. I mean you are looking for your son and by the time progress you forget that the main story is still about your son and not to clean up others mess which you do quite often. And also the end is not even satisfying. Its like they just wanted to make Fallout but they were out of ideas about the Story.
Now the final verdict is that its a must play game and i'm confident that you will like Exploring, Lock Picking and Hacking.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a very fun game to play but at the same time buggy, which I suspect is due to the massive world. It's most fun when you play the side missions and do the endless customization because it really feels like you've made this game your own. But you will reach a certain point in the game when it becomes super repetitive and makes you wonder if this game ever ends. That's when you'll ditch side-missions and do real missions like I did.

In the end I rushed to finish it because my patience was wearing ice-thin. The ending was just lame considering how I've poured nearly 90 hours into this game. I think that because there are endless approaches to playing this game, no matter how you play it a game still has to end. I think this is why the ending felt so contrived. Well what to expect from a super open-world game like Fallout 4.

I ended the game sticking to the railroad faction. A small nuke goes off in the distance and that's that. If I return back, brother of steel are my new enemy. I don't mind since I get a powerful railroad rifle in the end to kick the **** out of them. The post-apocalyptic atmosphere is faultless and easily the best aspect of the game. Add on the perk system which truly customizes the gaming experience to my liking, this game deserves an 8.

I had heard a lot about this game, good and bad, but had not played any of the previous Fallout games and, as a result, was heading into the game totally fresh. I do believe a lot of the negative scores for this game are related to unmet expectations developed from previous experiences of the franchise. This is a Fallout 4 review from a Fallout novice.

We'll start with the positives -
I had heard a lot about this game, good and bad, but had not played any of the previous Fallout games and, as a result, was heading into the game totally fresh. I do believe a lot of the negative scores for this game are related to unmet expectations developed from previous experiences of the franchise. This is a Fallout 4 review from a Fallout novice.

We'll start with the positives - the game, to me, looks fantastic. Grim, post-apocalyptic world, huge range of enemies, and all of it retaining the atmosphere of a post-nuclear future. I honestly think the game looks great - some have said its textures are repetitive, which may be true, but I can see why that's necessary in a game of this type.

The gameplay itself is good - as challenging as you want it to be, lots to do and explore and build up and improve, it really is expansive and you can lose hours of your days in this game - I've lost 40 already and have barely done any of the missions, I've just romped around the map exploring. The combat can get a little repetitive as, while the locations change, the battles are often similar be they 'bosses' or regular enemies. This can become an issue but on the whole I've really enjoyed it.

The missions are something I cannot really comment on as I haven't really focused on doing them - whether this makes the experience better or worse is utterly dependent on the individual player but, for me at least, it feels more authentic to just explore, meet people and respond to the situation at hand. This might not be a sentiment echoed by others and, for those who enjoy a heavy reliance on narrative built through missions, I can see how the game may not cut the mustard. For me it's been enjoyable just to explore and interact and understand the world - this might not be the same for others (especially those who have played previous editions of the game).

To sum up the positives for me I love the exploration, the range of enemies and locations, the size of the map and basically most elements of the game - I have had fun, which is why I play games.

The negatives, the things which stop this game being a 10, boil down to a few things. Frame rate issues will occur on the PS4 and these can be annoying. For me it is not a big deal but these can be huge deal-breakers for others - it depends how these affect your perception of the game personally. The few missions I have done have been very, very similar which doe snot bode well for the multitude of missions I have yet to complete. I think this is where a lot of criticism has come in - for me I have simply not followed the conventional narrative and have enjoyed myself, maybe how you play the game affects your enjoyment? The characters have been decent but certainly lack a bit of background - of the ones I have met there never seems to be enough background to become really invested in them. This is again a big issue is character development is central to your enjoyment and experience of games - for me it is a bonus rather than a key element.

I understand the negative reviews - if you have never played the franchise before I would definitely say play the game. If you have then you'll maybe have to read other reviews and decide whether or not to take the plunge. I did get this game with a discount of 60% due to special offers via PS+ and, at that price, I really think there can be no complaints.

The story is not soooo good but acceptable, nothing wrong to deal with.

The characters are good but not so much because they do not get so involved with them, they are many and this does not allow you to take a fondness for one in particular. In my opinion, Hancock seemed fantastic.

Fallout 4 is hands down one of the best games I've ever played that hooked me in for an incredible amount of time. Like all games it 's not without flaws and downsides of course, but as a whole it works very well.
Starting with the graphics and game engine, they are dated and initially (especially after playing The Witcher 3), it's feels like a huge downgrade. Saying that, after a while the graphics grew on me and I've come to appreciate the incredibly full and detailed world building of this game where there is nothing truly empty about the world. Whereas normally in open world games there are large empty spaces with a few roaming creatures/enemies, every inch of this world has a full story to tell if you're the type of person to appreciate that.
The 50s-60s theme just give it a natural aura of nostalgia that ties in perfectly with a post apocalyptic setting where you're meant to feel the tragic loss of the good old days. No other game achieves this level of melancholic nostalgia that's broken up with healthy doses of dark humour, silliness and downright dark theme changes. The world building is just incredibly immersive, interesting and fun.
Every aspect of the roleplay/gunplay/customisation are very decent and not overburdened/padded to insane levels which makes it very accessible once you get the hang of it (I find over-complicated systems and customisation detracts for the core experience of any game and acts more as a padding used when the actual game-play/storytelling/exploration is lacking).
One that point, the game doesn't hold your hand with tutorials which when you come out of the Vault can seem very overwhelming. However this genuinely adds to the overall experience of being thrown into a unknown, dangerous but yet familiar world you can relate to.

On the technical side, even though I bought the game a year after release, technical performance was not that good, however it's not bad enough to seriously detract from the experience.

Lastly the DLCs (especially Far Harbour) are pretty solid additions to the game well worth having and great for the price.

Overall I'd highly recommend the game as much as I would recommend The Witcher3 and HZD. For me these are the golden standard for the genre

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout 4 is a game that I personally love because of its ability to be so original and memorable like the old Fallout games. Many people disliked the story because its short length and its small importance on what the player actually does which is sadly true as joining a different faction only changes two things: whether or not the Institute is blown up and what other factions will be killed by the player, only the last three missions change based on which faction one has chosen. Other than the main storyline however the gameplay is great offering one of the smoothest experiences when it comes to weapon mechanics and customization. The settlement feature is cool, but there really isn't much the player can do with the settlement except for sleep and store items there. The DLC's of this game are the crowning achievement. The workshop DLC's are throwaways, but Automatron, Far Harbor, and Nuka World really do expand the world and gameplay further. I recommend only buying the three DLC's I listed since they are the only story based ones. Expand

    Good gameplay and World Design

    Bad RPG elements

No Special Dialogues(Unlike the older fallout games, there were options that you could choose based on your selected skills or even your S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills.)

However what prevents this from a higher score is for a 2015 game being the same year Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid V released the graphics/framerate quality are seriously outdated and even now stutters and freezes and the story itself is not all that great all things considered since 3 and New Vegas were great in this aspect. Almost every faction were unlikable especially my personal favorite the Brotherhood of Steel being more facists than before.

However the best story it offers comes from the companions for the first time in my Fallout history I love the character arcs of the companions even my least favorite Preston Garvey. I recommend this to people who love gameplay but for moral choice storywise this is not the game for that.

Fallout 4 is a good game, god knows how many hours ive thrown at it, still not nearly as compelling as skyrim. The map is huge, and its Boston, which strikes a nostalgic tone on it and exploring it s very fun, yet the story is not as immersive. the protagonist talking doesn't help either. crafting feels half baked and settlement building gets grindy and pointless after a while.

The second thing is that the companions leave a lot to be desired, sometimes they get stuck in undesirable places and do not follow you correctly along the roads where you are going, they are some examples.
And finally, leaving aside the bugs, the game is quite easy, the first hours of game you get a power armor and a minigun, in a car repository there is a Fat Man (the most powerful weapon of the whole game) with a mini nuke, and is one of the areas closest to refuge 111.

The gunplay is solid. Many options to craft your weapons.

The map is massive with varied ambient feel, depending on the location in the world.

The graphic is very poor and you can spect a few glitches.

War.... War never changes - A Streamers Review On Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is the first game of the franchise I have ever played. It is based on Boston(USA) which means nothing to me as I am a tea drinking Brit.
There are a few bugs in the game which can cause blue error screens even if you have a PS4 Pro so remember to save frequently.
Overall I found it a great game but not a masterpiece and I will tell you why.

When the game starts you are slowly eased in to the mechanics of the game. You pick your name and various stats which if you know nothing about the game can make it a difficult start.
From the beginning if you are not paying attention to the story you can miss out a lot on what the plot is about but the game does a good job in reminding you on why you are scouring the wasteland.

One you get past the ''Tutorial'' you are left to fend for yourself in the open world, Luckily you have your trusted pip boy with you which is your Stat, Quest, Inventory guide and many more options.
There is also base building which is not crucial and can be avoided until a certain part in the quest line which you will be forced to create structures. Personally the base building feature is majority of the fun.

The game does tell you where to go but after completing the first 2 main quests there is a big jump between 2nd and the 3rd which you will need to level up to survive. On the way to the 3rd quest various locations can be unlocked which will become fast travel points.

There is a difficulty which turns fast travel off but I will not be covering this in the review

Once you get past the 3rd, 4th and finally the 5th quest you will see and hear of various factions popping up around the world. This is where you will use your own mind to decide which faction you think does the right thing and which you will have to join. Once you join one the 3 factions (Excluding minutemen) you will not be allowed to join another and will have to finish the game with them and the subsequent DLCS. You can do a few quests for each faction to get a feel for them and their values, the game does a good job in explaining what will happen once you join the faction.

Certain areas of the game will cause a drop in frame rates, mainly down the southeast area of the map which is heavily populated. Mods can also be used on this game however I noticed that mods cause lag for me and blue error screens start popping up frequently with mod use.
If these issues were sorted with error screens I would have given this game a 10/10. I am starting to believe my community when they say Bethesda is filled with bugs.

    - Has multiple paths. You can choose multiple story lines to follow so you aren't forced to always follow the same story.
    - Easy repeatable, I played this game 3 times over.
    - Has a great feel. Feels pretty good on PS4. Rarely lags and runs quite smoothly.
    - Haven't tried all the DLC's yet but I have heard that they are entertaining.

    Cons:
    - Fighting the same enemies can get tedious.
    - Needs a longer story, once the game is done then you are forced to either repeat or freestyle the rest of your game. Both can get boring if done for too long/too many times.
    - Has crashed on PS4 a few times. It can happen.
    - NPC's don't really feel alive. Needs more compelling A.I.

Don't really have much more to say. I played this game around a year ago so I am only reviewing what I remember. I mainly have good memories on this game. I suggest you buy it if you are interested!

Fallout 4 shares more of an urban feel than the previous game, bringing out as much as it, even if some parts are a stretch.

Fallout 4 is great. Pre-ordered it back in the day, but I'm feeling nostalgic so I wrote a review.
In short: It has it's flaws, but it's Bethesda. I have 350+ hours in it. Story is not bad, although a bit weird. Mods can really make this game something else, and the DLCs are not bad.

The optimization's not hat great, but the game play feels like Fallout, the crafting, the weapon and armor modification system feels immersive. Collecting junk was always part of the game, why not make it useful.
I honestly love the dialog. The mute character always felt a bit weird and Courtenay Taylor is an amazing choice for the protagonist. The sarcasm is awesome, the character creation is great, and the settlement build mode is not bad, but could've used some more items and better snapping.

It is a good game with a interesting story, but some missions are very very repetitive.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout 4 should be revisited. Let me first say I understand the knee-jerk reaction of not liking this game. When it came we were expecting another New Vegas and that is not what we got. Even so, I think people are too hard on it . Pros: Imersive world. Great art design, fun combat/perk system, great side characters and side missions. I love a lot of the "busy work" in this game. It gives you a reason to explore the world and a lot of it is fun. I love the settlemen building.
Cons: The story is bland and they dumbed down the RPG elements. No branching story lines. Overall deserves to be revisited

This game is a really good game, but I thing that the dialogues could have more choice like in Fallout 3. Also this game has the best graphics on a Fallout game. Another good thing of the game is that the shooting action is really good and the VATS has been weel implemented

A strong return for the franchise, boasting incredible customisation, a fascinating world and brutal yet brainy shooting, slightly tarnished by lacklustre AI and tedious inventory management. [Christmas 2015, p.88]

Feral Ghoul ugly in many ways, but beneath its iffy exterior beats the heart of one helluva great RPG. Get past the graphics deficiency, and the sheer thrill of Fallout 4’s combat, crafting options, and exploring will hold your attention for months. [January 2015, p64]

Fallout 4 leans to the Shooting side of things. It strips down the gameplay from the actual RPG elements and offers a meta-nuclaer shooting gallery which of course keep its charm and gameplay wealth but also feels a little too friendly for the new comers. The Base builder mode is unnecessary, boring and irritating. Unfortunately, overall, there are no steps forward for this Nuclear Holocaust Behemoth of the video games industry. Only steps sideways.
