    - Graphics are mediocre at its best.
    - Great Atmosphere, you feel the loneliness and the aftermath of mass destruction where ever you go.
    - Great Music. Radio option feels funny and relaxing from time to time. - Companion system is mediocre. It is generally good to keep them with you just for the weight sharing. Well at least they keep you company and pop out some funny stuff from time

    - Quests are disappointment. You cannot direct the game freely as the direction you want to. You cannot evolve the story as you like. I'd expect that from bethesta. Shame.
    - Great scenario, great game play system, nice in-game system.
    - Boring bugs, crashes sometimes. Frustrating.

Fallout 4 is one of the "must play" games of PS4 it is a fact but it can be better.

I first played the original Fallout in 1997 and it's my favorite game of all time. I still play it about once a year, because you can complete it as fast as you want to, and it offers many different approaches to gameplay. The same basic principle applies to Fallout 4 - you can rush through the main story or you can take your time and just wander the wasteland and build settlements. TheI first played the original Fallout in 1997 and it's my favorite game of all time. I still play it about once a year, because you can complete it as fast as you want to, and it offers many different approaches to gameplay. The same basic principle applies to Fallout 4 - you can rush through the main story or you can take your time and just wander the wasteland and build settlements. The main story of Fallout 4 is perfectly decent, but I would not call it exceptional. It's short enough and doesn't get in the way when you want to do other things in the game.
Some people complain that Fallout 4 is more dumbed down RPG-wise compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I find the simplifications welcome and I consider Fallout 4 to inspire an atmosphere that is much closer to the original Fallout, which Fallout 3 and New Vegas failed to do in my opinion. Removing skills and replacing them with perks may seem like a simplification, but in reality it expands the possible approaches to gameplay, because the perk tree is massive, and this wide array of gameplay style options is in the spirit of the original Fallout.
To finish, I would like to say a few words about settlement construction. If this is not your cup of tea, you can skip it and enjoy the game just the same. I created one massive fortress around Sanctuary Hills and a few minor outposts around the wasteland. Now that I completed the game, I can roam the wastes eliminating mutants and raiders, and visit my comrades in arms along the way. It really creates a great recipe for immersion. Overall, I would say that I spent 20% of my time on the story, 40% on settlement building and 40% on sidequests and just wandering the wasteland. Through all the years, I considered the first Fallout to be the best game ever, but the only thing that I wished I could do after “saving the world” was to put all of my massive weapons stockpile to good use, establish my own militia and be a force for progress in the wasteland. Well, now you can do that in Fallout 4. Get this game if you haven't yet. You can play it for 20 or 200 hours before you are done with it, the freedom of choice is yours.

My only complaint about the game is that the faction system is a little rigid and makes for a pretty predictable endgame if you play through on multiple characters.

I also made a meta critic account just to review this game (see Tyo28's review for reference).

I understand the backlash towards Bethesda for the bugs and glitches, and add-on content; but only if you were expecting a Fallout 3 remake/upgrade.

The game may not be the perfect RPG, it may have some issues with frame rate (particularly on ps4), as well as side missions; but if you enjoy first person shooters AND RPGs (meaning you're a hybrid gamer, not just a super-fan), then you will love this game.

The amount of choices you have in this game are limited, granted, but if you're looking for a solid immersive, exploration based game, the first 40 hours or so will have you thinking it's the perfect game.

It's the perfect combination of nostalgia and innovation, both when thinking of previous games, as well as the design for the actual in-game 50's style references to art and technology.

I personally loved the settlement aspect of the game, (being someone who has never played minecraft) to the point where it has now become the only thing I play the game for, aside from the new missions available through add-ons (Far Harbour etc.).

This is probably the main reason I was not disappointed with the add-ons; it gave me more to play with.

If you're a PC gamer and have access to mods (which can break games, as we all know), then it is completely understandable why you'd hate to pay for this stuff. People have basically made free versions of all of this before. It's the same reason people say "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". PS4 currently doesn't have mods, so I rely on their DLC, and I have not been disappointed.

Now, I'm 30 years old, not particularly technologically inclined, and not a huge gamer, so I may be completely biased towards being "too nice"; but maybe everyone who is younger/more tech expects more simply because they're used to innovation at a much quicker pace. I remember a time where dial-up was a thing, where the best game in the world was GoldenEye on N64, and online gaming didn't yet exist, let alone updates to a game you bought. To me Bethesda has accomplished something quite spectacular here. If the game were any better I'd have no girlfriend, no work, and I may have wasted away in my gamer chair.

When buying a game of this size and of this genre keep in mind that humans are creating it, and humans are consuming it. It simply cannot please everyone. But if you're anything like me, you'll love it to the point where new games will come and go without you even thinking about buying them. I haven't played another game for more than a week since Fallout 4 has been released, simply because nothing else comes close in terms of over-all satisfaction.

To sum it up, great game, Bethesda. The first 40 hours were magic. And that's all most gamers care about because they're always looking towards the next best thing.

If you wonder why so many people give low ratings to this game, I think instead of looking at the game we should be looking at what peoples expectations are. In 2016, the customer is NOT always right.

That's my rant for the day.

    Thank you for reading.

Maybe Bethesda is the wrong developer for all those Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty and nothing else gamers. It doesn't really hold your hand all the time, and you need time to work yourself into the game's mechanics, too.

I like most of the new additions to the Fallout formula: Looting and crafting is very well done, and absolutely makes sense - after the fallout, resources are scarce and we got to use anything we can get. The companions have so much more personality than in Skyrim. They were the biggest surprise to me. I also enjoy most of the game's dialogues. The new and improved battle system is fun, and this is said by someone who doesn't enjoy Shooters all that much.

Building up settlements might be something for Minecraft lovers, and while it is deep, I found it a little too clumsy. Also, some quests could have been written better. This is one of the game's weak points. I still have not explored all of them yet though, so maybe there is more to come.

If you liked previous Bethesda games, go and get it. If you liked them but you didn't like combat so much, well it's much improved. If you are the type of player that enjoys the "Ubisoft formula" better, you rather should play something else. In this case, don't judge the game for what it doesn't want to be though. I fear many with negative reviews here did just that.

The game completely meets my expectations and is not deficient compared to FO3 and FO:NV. I played both to death and considered New Vegas to be a major improvement over FO3. FO4 would need to blow me away with next gen graphics to earn a 10, but I understand the designers are limited to the disc capacity and performance specs of the current console generation. I didn't expect the bleeding edge of graphics tech with perfect performance in a massive open world game. I don't know why anyone would, besides kids who don't understand those limitations. I'm tempted to give this a 10 just to offset the irrational metabombing.

FO4 takes several strides forward in streamlining quality of life for the player: looting bodies and most containers without freezing the game to "open" the object; basing character development on SPECIAL and perk system and removing skills; making VATS more action oriented and increasing the relevance of aim-down-the-sight in real time combat. These are all positive developments.

The faster loot system is fantastic, because players of past Bethesda games know you spend more time looting and sorting through loot than you do swinging/firing your weapon. All that looting pays off better than the game's predecessors due to the crafting, modding, and settlement developing mechanics.

SPECIAL, and therefore initial character creation, is more relevant now. In FO3, you could start with 1 INT, but dump skill points into science and hacking and be masters of it. What sense does that make? Even stupider, skill points per level were based on intelligence, so the best way to max out skills was to start with a very high INT...even if you're a brutish, bat swinging, grenade throwing monster with no points in any INT-based skill. What sense does that make? The majority of players will be limited by a diverse SPECIAL arrangement and corresponding perks. However, Bethesda removed the level cap, so the ultra-hardcore completionists can still trick out god-like characters, provided they put in the effort. Seems like a great compromise that both enhances the average gamer's experience while leaving open avenues for the always sensitive power gamers.

Also, making combat more action oriented does not reduce an RPG to "just a shooter" any more than adding a gun unlocking system categorically turns a shooter into an RPG. It just makes it a little more interesting. With a deep weapon and armor crafting system and the perk system, players of any skill level should be able to tackle the combat in the game.

People are crying a lot over the dialogue system. Get a grip. The game is fully voice acted for the first time, meaning the player character's dialogue is voice acted. In a massive open-world game. That is a remarkable leap forward, but it has limitations. You can't have as much dialogue as you had before when the player character didn't speak.

Overall a fantastic game. No game is perfect, but this one lives up to the hype.

Also ignore any review on the release date, as its impossible to accurately review a game of this size in a single day so these reviews were added simply to get 'likes'.

After almost 50 hours in, Fallout 4 is one of the greatest games I have played in years. Before I explain why, I have to mention some of the negative reviews, comments and stupid comparisons.

The vast majority of the negativity is almost completely baseless – the graphics are not the best but some of the other ‘points’ I’ve read are beyond belief. Here are a few of the most common - ‘they have ruined Fallout’ – no, they haven’t. ‘Its too buggy to play’ – no it isn’t, ‘its broken’ – nope, ‘its boring’ – ridiculous, ‘it’s the worst Fallout’ – the complete opposite. Or my favourite – ‘it doesn’t make the same impact that Fallout 3 did coming from 3’ – this is particularly ridiculous as that step up is impossible coming from last gen to current.

The game is not perfect, as I said the graphics are not the best and there are a few glitches but I’ve played through 50 odd hours and have seen very little bugs or drops in frame rates, it’s been great. The streamlining of the levelling system may not be for everyone and to be honest, maybe it has been dumbed down a little but it doesn’t really detract from the game at all. The removal of the reputation system also irked me a little and I think it should have been in there but again, it’s not a huge issue.

I also do not understand the comparisons to The Witcher 3 at all. The Witcher is a very good game but Fallout 4 excels at everything the Witcher fails at and as an RPG is streets ahead. The very fact that the Witcher forces you into a role completely dilutes the RP element of the game. Where as in Fallout, you create your own character which makes for stronger RP.
Anyway, on to the game itself.
Good – Its everything Fallout 3 was but bigger and better. Like all great games, there is absolutely tons to do and hours can be sunk into the game very easily without really doing much. The new Power Armor system I like as it increases the capability and importance of Power Armor over the previous games. Base building – a superb new feature which I personally, find highly addictive and is a good pastime in between quests. The map itself I really like, it has atmosphere and personality and the sense of exploration is amazing; there is so much to find and discover, other games pale in comparison. The new rafting system is good; finally each and every single item in the entire game world has a use and further adds to the exploration, scavenging aspect. I also like the character creator, the sculpting works well over sliders. I still think every game should just let you change your appearance from inventory but the fact that I can edit it at all is good enough. The combat is probably the best of any fallout, I always play in 3rd person and its done easier on here than Fallout 3.

Bad – Because its made on the same engine, initially it can feel a little too similar to its predecessors but its really just more of what’s good. The map, whilst filled with things to find, is smaller than Fallout 3, which to me, is still a step backwards. No ‘official’ faction joining or reputation system – like I said not a huge deal but I think it should have been in there. Companion AI is pretty sucky, any I’ve dealt with tend to be suicidal or just constantly get in your way like dogmeat. The RP element – while strong still forces the player to be a family man and some things later also seem to draw heavily toward a certain ‘good’ type of character, meaning that if you want to make an insane raider or something you can do it appearance wise, but the rest might need to be head canon.

Overall this is a great game and the best in the Fallout series to date. The immersion and exploration make for potentially hundreds of hours of play that other games can only dream of. The wasteland of Boston is amazing and while the world map is smaller than previous games, it’s intelligently used and packed with far more locations overall. Some of the scores on Metacritic etc truly are ridiculous, if a mess like GTAV gets 10/10 then this would get 100/10, very different games of course but Fallout 4 is far better in almost every area that games should be judged on. Easy GOTY.

Yes Bethesda has seen fit to remove some rpg oriented features shown in previous titles such as skill points (which i do sorely miss) to focus on a more stream lined game that appeals to a wider audience, but in doing so leaves you with an action heavy shooter rpg hybrid were the story and dialogue sort of puts the player in a position were you ask yourself "Do I actually care about these people or their lives?" and for the most part you don't. Yes this will seem a bit off putting but most of these features can be overlooked for the experience as a whole like the pointless morality system (more of a morality score card really) has been gutted and isn't missed at all.

This entry stands as another new step for the series as it introduces the ability to create many different customization towns for the player to create, including your own towns people you call from the waste land to in habit your make shift town that can also be customized with weapons and armor. This game actually rewards the player for their over scavenging which is a staple in most Bethesda games (Check every dresser and basket for hopes of some hidden gem) by letting you break down the trash you find riddled through out the wasteland into resources to upgrade your towns.

The customization even goes into the newly changed power armor mechanic. This time around power armor is less equip and forget item and now gives the player the feeling of controlling a hulking mass of post future war nuclear dystopian iron man suite that the player can now fully customize with different components (such as helmets and cages) found in the environment.

Besides the hurt you might get from losing some rpg heavy elements if you've never played the series then you wont care, but as a fan of the series I can say this entire is a well made title sacrificing graphics and hardcore rpg elements for just plain old fun. Yeah some may say that this isn't as hardcore as they hoped or that it was over hyped (hype by the way is **** anyway that any one with a product will ride to sell units) but first and for most it is fun and that should be all that matters.

Okay not only are the graphics FINE, but that shouldn't effect your opinion of the game!!! Now I have issues with the game for sure: I agree with many of you that the world does feel a bit empty, quite a few gameplay mechanics feel rehashed from Fallout 3, the dialogue system is... let's be honest here the dialogue system is by far the worst out of any Bethesda game at least the one's I've played (Arena, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim all have better dialogue systems) and from what I've played of it the story will not be the reason I stick around. Yes all of these are issues, and yes the game is fairly glitchy, but not NEARLY as glitchy as many games I have played this early on in release, I have encountered no game-breaking glitches and any glitches I've encountered have been second long missing textures (in fact I've only found one of those) and some lag issues that again only last a second or two however lag happens pretty often. However the good things heavily outweigh the bad things in the game. First of all: FREAKING CRAFTING! A genuinely good crafting system in a AAA open-world sandbox game. Weapon customization which from what I've seen works very well, absolute base building (as in walls and defenses) interesting creatures, VERY much improved combat, and I wasn't gonna include NV in this review as it is not from BGS themselves, but it is a FAR better combat system that we've seen in both 3 and NV and the best combat I've seen in a Bethesda game. The cinematic moments are done very well and feel a lot more satisfying than in 3, NV, and Skyrim, power armor works VERY well, but is a little annoying how quickly the power runs out luckily you can still use it, but it's... kinda pointless to as it slows to a near halt and disables bashing and sprinting. Though the world feels a bit empty (so far, I've only seen less than a quarter of the map and haven't actually taken the time to get a good look at it) it is VERY well crafted and designed feeling real with all the hills, holes, lakes, rivers, trees, etc. The missions in my opinion are very fun and challenging there's SO MANY weapons, the companion system works very well, and all in all it really is a fantastic game. I'll admit (as a huge fanboy of Bethesda) I was hoping for a 10/10, so I am fairly disappointed in the game so far, but that's really just considering what I thought it would end up being. Though I would prefer Skyrim, Fallout 3, or Oblivion this game still stands out amongst most games I've played on next-gen. I think it was worth the money so far and I'm excited to see what else it has to offer! Expand

I really don't understand why this game is getting so much hate. Fallout 4 is, by far, the best Fallout! Bethesda is one of the best at making open-world games and this shows in this post-apocalyptic world. So many mechanics have been changed for the better that really make this game amazing and I want to tell you why I love this game.

    Gameplay:
Before I say anything else about this game, I want to talk about the improved shooting mechanics because they make this game amazing! I found it really hard to get immersed into older Fallout games because the only way to hit you're target was with VATS! I find it astonishing that people are angry about this new addition. This was a problem that was holding back Fallout and I'm happy that it's finally been changed. Don't listen to the people saying that this makes Fallout less of an RPG because if anything, it takes a bold step in a direction that most RPG's haven't taken.

The dialogue system in Fallout 4 is nothing to write home about. You only get four options and most of them are pointless. I was really expecting more from Bethesda on this front as it was so heavily advertised. This is one of the only parts of the game I wished was like earlier Fallout's. I really wanted to be my own character and I didn't really feel that with the dialogue mechanics here. They in no way make the game less fun to play but they are quite a disappointment and Bethesda is capable of more.

Now my favourite part of the entire game, the base building. I can't even explain how many hours I've spent making my own bases. The only reason I take every mission I can is so I can loot everyones body and steal everything I find. Finding useless junk now is more of a reward than a hinderance! There is no lacking of features when creating your own home. I was able to create a four story home, complete with a windmill, defensive structures and even a mancave! There are some mechanics that need to be changed but they are not gamebraking. On the topic of customization, customizing power armour, weapons and armour is amazing. It's so deep and complex you will be amazed by it! You will probably spend lots of time debating what attachments to pick out of the big barrel of choices. To go even deeper into this, you can pick certain perks to have the ability to go deeper into customization. There is no lacking of customization here and I'm hoping to see this in every open world game.

    Perk System:
This should be in gameplay but the perk system needs it's own paragraph. I'll keep it short but just know that the perk system is better than almost any other RPG game I've played! It just feels right. You have the option between you're S.P.E.C.I.A.L perks (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, Luck) or other perks that unlock based on how many points you poured into each S.P.E.C.I.A.L category. When you pick a perk, it has a noticeable difference right away which makes the entire system very rewarding. In conclusion, it's an awesome system!

    Graphics:
While the graphics aren't Last of Us quality they are pretty good for such an expansive game. I don't understand why the game is getting so much flak for something that isn't a big deal. The game looks amazing though, not in it's graphics, but in everything from colour palette, the skybox and even the choice of how buildings and debris look. I now know why I found it so hard to enjoy other Fallout games and it's defiantly the graphics. Instead of being surrounded by grey and brown and having a brown sky, you instead have a beautiful blue sky when you emerge from the vault. It was defiantly a good choice and I hope it stays this way.

    Pros:
    Base Building
    Armour, Weapon, Power Armour Customization
    Gunplay Mechanics
    Aesthetic
    Perk System

    Cons:
    Dialogue Mechanic
    Graphics

    Conclusion:
There is no reason to not buy this game. This is the Fallout game we have all been waiting for. You will spend so much time delving into this expansive open world. Definitely Game of the Year material!

And the music is amazing! Search up "Fallout 4 Main Theme" on YouTube!

I look on here and see all these complaints about the performance and graphics and it is all bull. At the end of the day graphics do not matter. ALL THAT MATTERS IS DID YOU ENJOY THE GAME. And the answer to that question is a big fat yes. Fallout 4 delivers serves to deliver the same experience as fallout 3- and that is 100% fine.

COD delivers the same general game with a few updates yearly. Assassins creed, madden, GTA, Farcry, Halo, and all other major franchises do the same thing. They find a formula and they stick to it. Bethesda has simply done that with Fallout 4.

That being said the upgrades are nice. The combat is miles ahead of older entries, the base building is fun and unique, the world is a bit smaller but with much more to do, the weapons and armors are better than ever, the power armor is sick, the new core systems work well, and the end of weapon condition is great too. Besides those things it is the same Fallout we love and to all the complainers- go play COD.... It is where you belong.

This game is not perfect, but it's damn fun. The skill system isn't all it could be and the simplified dialogue options rob the game of ~some~ depth.

But it's fun, gives you the strong sense of adventure that Bethesda is so damn good at, and improved so many little things not to mention the great stuff like the crafting system.

So you don't need to repair your guns anymore, what depth did that REALLY add? So the lip-syncing isn't perfect, I'd rather than improve the game overall than sink excessive money into improving one small feature that only bothers a tiny percentage of people. Graphically it's quite a pretty game. It might not impress the people who scope their guns and focus on individual textures to scrutinise at the pixel level, but for normal people, it's great.

Lots have been said about the graphics and I suppose your opinion depends on where you come from. If you just recently played for example Last of Us or Tomb Raider, then Fallout 4 is not going to impress you immensely. However, compared to Fallout 3 this is a huge step forward. It's on par with Skyrim, although Skyrim is more beautiful because it's not cluttered with nuclear waste. That being said, I wish the Fallout world would offer a bit more sunshine because when the sun is out, the wasteland doesn't seem all too bad after all. But just compare any enemy you'd like and you'll see a huge difference. And when you play, graphics doesn't really matters because the enemies are more fierce and scary looking than ever. Early on, you really don't want to be looking for conflict all too much.

The main thing I like is that the game is much more seamless than ever before. There are fewer areas that need loading times to access which makes you want to explore even more. The game overall runs smoother than expected. Not much holding you up, except hoarding behaviour... But rather it runs smooth than have excessive graphics because after a short while you're not too concerned if it could have looked better. At least I prefer not to wait a minute to enter a house (like in Skyrim after the save file grew too big).

One big new addition is building settlements and this poses the biggest ambivalence for me. It's not too difficult to build in third person mode but I'd like the option for an overhead mode as well. And to some extent this "build simulator" isn't really doing it for me all the time. I'm not convinced I really need it and it just adds to my hoarding addiction which can be a bit frustrating at times. Sure, it's down to me but the game sort of pushes me to think "I really should pick up that oil can or telephone because they contain part I might need".

Short word on the story. Haven't bothered too much. To me, the wasteland experience is building up your character to eventually deal with the big problems. You can't just go marching in and solve everything. Also, the main story isn't too appealing to me, tbh. Fallout is about making it in a hostile environment.

So all in all: this is - after 25 hours - a great game I just want to spend more time with. I want to explore, I want to meet all the interesting people and I want to become stronger.

The graphics I do agree could be a bit better BUT the game was made for what...7 years? The tech with games has changes significantly and so have the visuals. When making a game in that time span, the graphics are going to have adjust to meet all criteria with the game. Who knows, some of the game was used with this graphics engine and then the last parts were made with a better one. They have to find a balanced plain to exist on. I also don't know about u, but I would rather have a game filled to the brim with stuff to do than have nice graphics.(Borderlands anyone?)

Story wise, i haven't finished yet so I can't give a complete opioion about it. They are Bethesda games tho. The story is usually mehh. Wished they were better of course but at least the rest of the game is worthwhile.

The gameplay is pretty good too. They tweaked the V.A.T.S system a bit. Instead of the enemies being paused, they move in slow motion either helping your odds or hurting them. Power suits in the game are amazing and fun to use; gotta try them out yourself. Crafting is an awesome addition in the game. You can create and customize your weapons, armor, meds, chems, power suits, and more. Should I continue? You can completely craft a settlement from the ground up adding water and food, electricity, beds, defenses, etc. The Perk chart they changed too making so you don't have to wait to pick something, u can pick it right off the bat as long as your skill level is high enough. There is no level cap either or it's like 215 I believe making so if you put the time in, your character will have every perk and skill available.

All and all, this game is good. All should at least try it out for 10 hours and get a feel for it. Fiddle with everything the game has to offer and then see if you like it or not. If you're a true RPG'er, you will appreciate this game and a newcomer that is trying to get way more than 60 bucks out of a purchase. This is a massive game with tons to do. Worst of all, they have sort of ruined Fallout's lore and setting by spelling too much out.

And finally, this is supposed to be more than 200 years in the future?? No way. The damage to the houses and urban decay look like decades, not centuries.

    Somebody messed up here.

    -Personagens saindo/ entrando no chão

However, it is the best possible fever you can have. What is it, exactly? Well, it's a fever you get when you are totally addicted to Fallout 4, and oh man...I can almost guarantee you'll get this condition when you play this game. Fallout 4 bursts with many things to love and no--the game is in no way perfect, and it did NOT live up to the massive hype behind it (in fact, there really was no way this game could have lived up to that towering hype). But oh man, I cannot deny that this game is an amazingly good time.

Fallout 4 has a very good start, mainly because it sucks you into its world in many ways. In this start, it also presents a much greater focus on story compared to 3 and New Vegas. The story also gets better as it goes on up until the third act. The third act is sadly a disappointment in most areas, which will be touched on later. What also contributes to the greater focus on story is the 4 factions you can join, which is my favorite new addition to the Fallout franchise. The 4 factions are all very different and worth doing new playthroughs to experience all their uniqueness, especially in the third act. Except the Minutemen. F*ck the Minutemen. There is one thing about the story in the game that I do HIGHLY dislike. That is the dialogue wheel. I highly prefer the old Fallout conversations. I'm not going to go on a rant on the dialogue wheel 'cause you've probably heard so many. You get the point. However, I will say that the dialogue between the characters is well-written and clever, even if the voice acting isn't too great. Touching on the graphics, it's pretty inconsistent. At times, the game can look borderline gorgeous. At other times, it can look very sub-par. Fallout 4 also has many changes into turning the game into more of a shooter than an RPG, which can be both good and bad. Even though the shooting was fun and engaging and strategic in 3 and New Vegas, it was pretty slow and boring at times. With 4, though, the shooting feels better than ever, but it still contains the classic Fallout shooting feel. When it's at its best, it's wildly fun. Plus, the gore is always entertaining. However, when the shooter mechanics outweigh the RPG ones, the RPG ones can feel pretty watered-down and pathetic and lazy. I won't go as far to say that Fallout is now a full-blown 100% shooter, but come in expecting to play more of a shooter than an RPG. You can't talk about Fallout 4 without talking about its giant, engaging, and awesome open-world. It is so unique. I honestly think this is Bethesda's best map that they have crafted. However, it's not perfect. A lot of the content in the game can feel like dead weight, which is disappointing coming from Fallout. Let's talk about the third act now with no spoilers. The third act of the game is totally different depending on which faction you are in. The previous 2 acts of the game felt so great and inspired. It was honestly one of the best campaigns I've played in awhile. Then it goes to the third act...which is pretty boring. The satisfying and faction-different endings don't make up for that, either. Another flaw with this game is the companions. Rarely are they ever very helpful and managing them is a complicated pain. As I said before, this game is incredibly addicting and entertaining, which is the best part of this game. I loved building my character and just exploring this world. The settlement building in the game is brand new, and personally, it didn't appeal to me much. I can definitely see some being hooked by this expansive option, though. I feel Bethesda could've done more to appeal to the ones like me that aren't really attracted by building and expressing my imagination in games. As many flaws as there are in this game, the positives often outweigh them. It is just so easy to get hooked on this game. I have adopted a new way of rating games from my friend, and it will work great with this game. Here it is

Haven't played any of the other Fallout games, so for me I'm new to the franchise. I am not nearly done playing, and am a bit of a newbie still, but so far I absolutely love it. I can buy into the world, the characters, learned the crafting system, and the leveling system is interesting. - Plays similar to Skyrim, but with better graphics, and a different setting.
Nice work by Bethesda as usual.

    An actual honest review,

This game is very good. It has good graphics, fun gameplay and offers much to do. It does have bugs and frame rate issues which are noticeable but its not really that bad. The bugs are funny and add a king of humour to the game which most serious games do not possess. I don't understand people on this site your expectations are always too high and extreme

I also love the companions as well the armor/weapon hoousing making (skyrim-like).

The game has some problems, like big loading screens and frequent framerate drops that increase the longer you play it. The main quest, differently from the side quests, is disappointing, you can choose four not too different finals, that have the same cut scene with a little detail.
You should buy it, if you can overlook the inferiority of the campaign.

First off, the graphics look good, a huge step from F3 and FNV, but this isn't the technical powerhouse of the year. Also there is a lot of frame rate stutters, something regular to Bethesda releases. I have personally not seen a single crash or game breaking bug after 50+ hours. The games aesthetic is fairly weak, the Commonwealth is on a Skyrim level of boring. For such a massive game full of content, the world is very lifeless outside of the center region with almost every area feeling incredibly copy pasted from the last. Overall the repetitive nature of the map makes the commonwealth weak compared to the Capital waste or even the Mojave waste, this is from someone who put 100's of hours into those two games, 50+ leading up to F4 launch for comparison. But where the game does shine is in the quest lines. The main quest starts out fairly slow but takes a turn for more interesting matters later on. But even greater are the side quests. Many are easily some of the best in the series and make searching copy pasted areas full of Diablo tier random **** loot drops you'll never use actually worth the time. The new features, well they work for what they are but you mostly have to work around them. Crafting is incredibly limited but is put behind huge walls of grinding to make up for how shallow it actually is, and settlement building is only for those who are willing to spend 100's of hours strictly crafting. Most of the time I found myself having to work around the games limitations only to get bored and give up on creating settlements. Overall the game is very good, I can see myself possibly doubling my playtime, especially with promises of extra content in the coming months, but with all the hype surrounding I am still a bit disappointed by the games short comings. This is not a big leap for the Fallout series, its more of the same with unnecessary baggage tacked on. Expand

Exploring the mysteries of the wrecked city is fun, but I will admit to growing tired of looking at trash and collapsed buildings all the time. Also, character models/animations are dated, especially after seeing what CD Projekt Red and others are doing. Bethesda was once a front-runner in 3D open world, but their engine is now behind. Also, crafting/town building held no interest for me.

I'm playing Survival and while it can be frustrating dying on every grenade or mine, it's also fun to be challenged a bit. "Survive" to level 10ish and you will be fine after that.

I feel similar about Fallout 4 as I once did with Fallout 3. A lot less customization role-playing than 3, but overall still very fun and still playing. Looking forward to some good DLC down the road.

It's obvious that Bethesda has learned from their mistakes of the past, and succeeded in creating a beautiful gem of a game yet again.

I had exceedingly high expectations for Fallout 4 and have been a long time fan of the series since the original Fallout (ah, the sweet late 90's), and Bethesda has obviously put their heart and soul into this game.

The combat system has been greatly improved, with more fluid movement and the ability to create a "favorites menu" to readily access an arsenal of weapons while in-combat.
The main storyline isn't super intriguing, but the sheer beauty and vastness of all the side quests and various things to loot, fight, and explore in the wasteland quickly makes up for it.

I LOVE the crafting system, allowing players to scavenge scrap material while out in the Commonwealth and turn that crappy 10 damage pistol into a brute to be reckoned with. This allows the player a little more freedom (it's about time!) since you don't have to solely rely on weapon drops to get a decent gun anymore.
The ability to build/customize your own home in Sanctuary Hills sucked up a solid 6 hours of my time so far as well.
That, and there's nothing more satisfying than mowing down a pack of Super Mutants with a minigun with PS4 graphics.

The places you get to explore and loot in post-apocalyptic Massachusetts, and all the people you meet along the way truly make this game shine as an RPG, and I hope people read some real reviews and don't listen to the losers whining about graphics.
This game is well worth $60 and you're guaranteed to have a raging good time.

-didn't think I would like the new levelling system... In fact I was almost certain I was going to hate it. I shouldn't have worried... It's great and you feel like you're still making real progress many hours into the game.
-I liked the way the story was delivered... Bethesda seem to be masters at giving you the bare bones of a plot and still leaving it compelling enough to follow up while at the same time giving you numerous options and paths to go down.
-love the new crafting/modding system and the settlement building is very well implemented but by no means essential if you're not interested in the whole DIY thing
-the atmosphere, art direction and lore are as great as they've ever been. I found myself totally immersed in the game.
-I honestly could go on and on about the things I loved here but I don't have much space and people are likely never going to read this anyway so I'll just mention a few of the bigger negatives before I go lol

    Cons:
-old game engine... While I personally still think the game still looks fantastic, that's more down to the art direction and design than it is to actual graphical fidelity. I do think it's about time they replaced this. It will be disappointing if we see it again in the next elder scrolls or fallout.
-no weapon condition. One of the few features I actually missed from previous games... It's meant to be a broken world with broken stuff in it and I miss the feeling of finding awesome-but-broken weapons to fix. A shame bcos it would have fit into the new crafting system easily too. I mean u can repair power armour so why not weapons too?
-not a huge fan of the new dialogue system but it is functional enough I guess. I understand the difficulties with having a voiced protagonist etc but I feel we lost more than we gained here
-inconsistent enemy AI seems to vary from fantastic to ****
-that's all I can really think of negative-wise that is of any significance... Sure there's a few nitpick issues here and there like animations etc but nothing that I felt really impacted the experience.

TLDR; A fine instalment in the series that tries a few new things while ditching a few old ones, but still stays true to what makes Fallout as great a series as it is. Highly recommended for old fans as well as newcomers.

Fantastic game with a bit better combat than Fallout 3 and Vegas, still pretty bad though.

If you can see past that and learn how to mix live combat with VATS then you have the best open world game yet. This is bigger and more handsome than any other Bethesda game, even Skyrim. You simple can not go to bed or not go to that building, because what if there is a unique weapon in there?

I think they should have build some kind of building mode to make this less annoying or allow you to zoom more out with more rotation possibilities of objects. The other thing that I think they didn't think about is structural engineering, it´s not complicated that floors and roof need structural stability so I ended up building something that does not apply to the law of physics. Pretty unrealistic and boring something that could have been pretty cool and fun.

    Just my fifty cents.

FO4 tells its story(ies) in a different manner and if you can't appreciate it or right out can't get it, you should not play it. The cinema in your head is always required in FO4 so you can make up the story the environment tells you and this is exactly what I personally are looking for. I'm over saturated with Hollywood style staging ala Bioware and want my own thought to roam free as my character does in a sandbox. The other point is regarding the graphic issues some report or the right out "ugliness"... I think you just got spoiled by Skyrim's modding community which enhanced it so much its probably looking 10 times better then FO4 right now on some systems, however to have a clear view on it and its improvements, please install it in vanilla state and check it out again (same goes for FO3/FO NV) and you will see that there were much improvements. And for the people stating the game is not running smoothly, my system is not high end by any means anymore (it was 5 years ago) FO automatically set it to ultra settings and its running smoother then my modded Skyrim (250+ mods). before spreading hate, please check if you fulfil the minimum/recommended requirements and also make sure you are running latest drivers/FW on your system. An SSD would also help great times probably.

It is nothing revolutionary but if you loved FO3/FO:NV then this is a perfect next step in the series. The exploration and world is top notch as always, best of any game Ive ever played. It also has new weapon/armor mods and the settlement building system, which I enjoy very much. As a person with slight OCD, just building the settlement and scrapping materials has kept me enthralled for several hours and Ive barely scratched the surface of the systems.

I will say this is not a game for everyone, if you are from the CoD set and love tons of action and multiplayer death match, than this is not the game for you. If you love exploration and being a total completionist but hate hours and hours of repetitive action with no depth, than you will have a hard time finding a better game than FO4.

I think the right way to enjoy Fallout 4. As the modern Fallout 3.

    Customization is hilarious.

    Cons:
The crashing - this game crashes a fair amount, not a problem if you quick save a lot.
Fair share of bugs (Bethesda game, new release)
Companions can block you, but this can be avoided with commands.
Sneak doesn't seem to work very well at times.
Choice dialogue is lacking due to it being fully voiced. (could be a pro)

I have about 10 hours logged into the game so far and it is very hard to stop playing.

I was skeptical before buying this game because of a lot of negative reviews (also, not being a fan of Skyrim) but most of them are biased towards the graphics. Who cares? I don't buy Bethesda games for graphics (or console games for that matter) I buy them for gameplay and this game is fun as hell.

Perks still exist and the developers have increased the level cap in order to compensate for the lack of SPECIAL points. Speech options are understandably limited due to the Mass Effect-esque conversation wheel, but voice acting is well done despite the lip syncing issues. The biggest thing I've seen is Bethesda's clear focus on the modding community of the previous two games. A lot of the crafting, settlements, weather, and color pallet mods were quite popular and Bethesda took notice. I've been having a lot of fun with the game and expect to continue playing for the next few months. To those reviewers that are stating problems that were present in the last two games as if they are new, or state that NV is the standard you're rating this game on then I wold strongly suggest playing the games side by side and reconsidering your opinion. Story:The story is not that great but is not that bad ether. The stars of the game is epic but the ending of the game could be so much better but your choices have almost no impact in the game.

Graphics: The graphics are not that good for this generation and Bethesda should really use a new engine on the next game.

Notes:I really lose my self in the world of this game by playing over 80 hours and still have something to do it is surly one of the best open-world games I have ever played and the best Fallout game that there is to play.A great game I recommend it to everyone even the not Fallout fans to buy it it is worth the full price that it has.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's start with the bad yes we all know the graphics appears to be not really better than the last time we played Fallout 3 years ago, this is astonishing considering the likes of other open world sand box games like Destiny! Bethesda really needs to put to use Id Software talents here for their next instalment.

The good the game is great and adds a few new bells and whistles like town management and crafting. Though this is not required it can be a nice diversion between quests.

The other honourable mention is the stability it has not crashed once and to me and this company that is a set forward. So far no really annoying bugs.

Bethesda needs to look at games like the new Star Wars and an older Destiny which are a higher caliber of finish and polish in the graphics department after all we are in the next gen of games, or did they not know that??

9/10 for the sheer excitement and playability of the game, easily could of had 9.7 for better graphics!

However I feel like this wasn't enough of a jump from 2009 with fallout 3. The graphics, although much better than F3s, weren't as good as you would expect with a next gen game however this is not a major problem and can either be solved through mods or simply getting used to it. My major issue that holds it back is that the overall feel of the game is just very similar to fallout 3; the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is true but innovation is also important.

Overall i would say that this is definitely worth buying if you enjoyed/loved/liked the previous fallouts including Obsidian's FNV and to any gamers who liked RPGs in general because it's a great game. Just don't expect something like the jump from MGS4 to 5.

Sometimes it is repeating but I would say that this game has so many different possibilities to do same for the story mode. I would play it one more time which I never do it. My focus would not be the graphics as always liked since I'm used des super mario to battlefield among others, which is really interesting was the history that goes the game and the issue of war, the lack of resources for survival between others, otherwise there's the question of the drama that you pass along the plot, these elements are wHAT make a great game Fallout 4

This game is EXCELLENT! It's my first time with the Fallout series, although I LOVED the Elder Scrolls games (except the online POS). Huge world, a lot to do, great progression, good graphics (could be better). Overall, VERY fun game and world that you can spend a TON of time enjoying.

Fallout 4 is an astonishing game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This game could have easily been my Game of the Year, but it didn't feel like enough of a push forward to me mind-blowing. Don't get me wrong, this is probably still my favorite game I have played so far, but I felt a lot more into the world of New Vegas than I did in the Commonwealth. It still achieved everything we love aboutFallout 4 is an astonishing game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This game could have easily been my Game of the Year, but it didn't feel like enough of a push forward to me mind-blowing. Don't get me wrong, this is probably still my favorite game I have played so far, but I felt a lot more into the world of New Vegas than I did in the Commonwealth. It still achieved everything we love about Fallout games; endless quests, huge open world, fun and exciting characters, etc, and even added new game experiences with the base building and character creation, but the few things they did not accomplish made it feel almost like a re-tread. I am not sure it is fair to come down on the game for it, but it was such a lasting feeling after playing this game that I can't give it a higher score, even though it accomplished so much. Hype may have hurt this game.

The decisions you make in the game don't feel as though they make as much of a difference as they used to. I remember in past Fallout games when you aligned with certain groups it drastically affected your relationship with different groups, so much so that when you approached them they would just automatically attack you. With this game however you are allowed to stay with almost all the factions at once for so long that you don't feel like you are making a huge mark on the dynamics of the world. I liked this because I was allowed to play a lot more quests and didn't have to go back and re-play as much, but that isn't really what I was looking for.

I feel like the game hands you companions a little too much, making you never feel that lonely wanderer-type game we had in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You get Dogmeat right away in the game, which is fine, but he is handed to you. I liked having to just come across these people and after doing quests you could potentially have them as a companion. I found my self having the option of choosing between a good handful of companions after a very short time while following the main quest line. It is nice to have the companion, as I use them as a pack mule, but it felt earned in previous Fallout titles.

The new base-building mechanic is a TON of fun. I was able to get very creative with making these highly defendable locations, and making them fun little havens for my Settlers. I found myself spending several hours just putting time into making my bases. Definitely a mechanic they need to continue.

The new crafting system is simply perfect. I spent time going out randomly into the world to seek out materials to be able to fully upgrade all my weapons, which aided in my discovery of the world. I found myself in previous Fallout games finding several locations and then just fast traveling around for the rest of the game, whereas in Fallout 4 I don't want to fast travel as much so I can get all the materials I can, which means I also find more quests and the quirky things throughout the Commonwealth.

In closing, Fallout 4 is another stepping stone in the great Bethesda open world RPG line-up, but I think they could use something else in future Fallout titles. They reiterated everything good about the older titles, and if you enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas I guarantee you will enjoy this one, but I warn you that you may feel a wanting for more as I did.

I expected a 'Chatty' game. A game where I talk to NPCs and learn more about the world I am in BUT that is not the case in Fallout 4. Everything else is great. It needs more 'RPG'

Even the biggest Fallout fan would find it hard to deny that this is pretty much the same game as, the now seven year old, Fallout 3 with a basic settlement building option (that can basically be ignored anyway) being the only real noticeable difference.

Despite this, and the criminally long loading times every time you enter a new area, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed Fallout 4 and

Despite this, and the criminally long loading times every time you enter a new area, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed Fallout 4 and this make it a very difficult game to review. I went with an 8 out of 10 in the end as judged on its own merits its a very good game but others will rightly be less forgiving of the lack of progress the series has made.

A strong return for the franchise, boasting incredible customisation, a fascinating world and brutal yet brainy shooting, slightly tarnished by lacklustre AI and tedious inventory management. [Christmas 2015, p.88]

Feral Ghoul ugly in many ways, but beneath its iffy exterior beats the heart of one helluva great RPG. Get past the graphics deficiency, and the sheer thrill of Fallout 4’s combat, crafting options, and exploring will hold your attention for months. [January 2015, p64]

Fallout 4 leans to the Shooting side of things. It strips down the gameplay from the actual RPG elements and offers a meta-nuclaer shooting gallery which of course keep its charm and gameplay wealth but also feels a little too friendly for the new comers. The Base builder mode is unnecessary, boring and irritating. Unfortunately, overall, there are no steps forward for this Nuclear Holocaust Behemoth of the video games industry. Only steps sideways.
