    The best Doom ever made.

    It's better than Doom 1, 2 and 3.

Doom Eternal is not that good... It's a big disappointment

I love Doom! The only game that never disappoints. Every single Doom game is the best. We, the Doom players want one thing. Senseless demon killing. No speaking, no drama... Nothing, but brutal killing. Classic! Doom is timeless classic, please never change that and stay that way!

Динамичный шутер с неимоверным геймплеем и визуалом. Сюжета здесь по факту нет, но он и не нужен для такого жанра. Стоит потраченного времени, дарит много впечатлений.

It's like your dead grandfather resurrected himself and teaches you some respect. The single player is fast paced and features minimum story. Weapons can be upgraded. Graphics and sound are top notch. The main multiplayer is it's weakest component but it's better than the beta. SnapMap is already impressive. Overall solid package.

Every time I play I feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest, the game is that exhilarating. It doesn't waste any time with boring cut-scenes, lame characters, or long tutorials, within minutes, you have a gun and you're surrounded by demons, literally tearing their limbs out and smashing their skulls to pieces. This is a game built on pure adrenaline fueled action, it is a game where, if you stop moving, you die. You need to always be alert, moving, dodging and slaying everything in your path. This is not a game about creating suspense, atmosphere or jump scares, it is about killing demons in the most brutal fashion possible.

I was 10 when the original Doom was released, it scared the crap out of me but I loved every minute. As an adult, I never thought I would play another game that would fill me with the same level of excitement, joy and unbridled fear but the new Doom makes me feel like a scared 10 year old again and it is amazing.

This somehow what you want a Doom game to be in 2016. At the core you are just shooting demons over and over again but it is so well done that it is a blast. Multiplayer is meh. The map creation tool is not something I want to do and playing the user created levels was lame. Otherwise worth the money for the single player experience.

Playing this latest game is absolutely nostalgic for me, but not in just wanting it to be a fantastic game, but rather how stellar it turned out to be. The music is incredibly bass-y, shakes my entire room, and pulls me right in. The combat is very arena style: you go into a new area, there's a handful of resident enemies in there that are typically fairly simple to clear out. Then you trigger the waves upon waves of enemies and this will make you go from weapon to weapon to weapon, picking what makes sense for that second before swapping again. This is not a game to creep about like Doom 3 was, you will be punished harshly for doing so as your HP and ammo comes primarily from "glory kills" which require you to quickly get in melee range and perform a killing blow. The bigger the enemy, the less time is given making it risky sometimes.

All the classic enemies and weapons are back (not sure if any of the bosses are exceptions to that yet), and much of the old mechanics have been brought along too (looking at you keycards... my god you hide well sometimes) and they dropped all the things from Doom 3 that people despised: no flashlight, no oxygen meter, no jump scares, no more small scale fights. I personally enjoyed Doom 3 a great deal when it first released, but it was not what I could consider to be the Doom franchise should be.

The amazing thing is how well it runs. I am able to run 80FPS at 1440p on a single (though highly OC'd and watercooled) GTX 980 and it just begs for more.

This game is the definition of a game who understands what it needs to be, then tries to be, then nails it.

Music is insane. Not just the songs themselves but just the absolute perfect timing of the drop of hard metal music right when you blow the first demon away with a shotgun as a horde comes for you. The secrets are great and the fact that the music lowers to Q to you that you can now chill and jump around and look for some secrets.

The leveling up is awesome and adds depth too the game. The guns are fun and creative and every gun is fun to use. You think to yourself, oh i haven't used this bad boy in a bit, time to take it for a spin. the upgrades on the guns are active and physical. they add a new attack and also change the look of the gun. and when you buy two different upgrades you can toggle between the two with a tap of a button and watch your character pull off the rockets attachment (for example) and put on the sniper scope.

Then there is the chainsaw... super fn strong but has just the right balance with the fuel gauge on it. so let's say you upgrade to 5 fuel slots, you can take out a big a$$ demon with it and deplete your fuel in one kill. or you can kill 5 smaller demons with it. These chainsaw kills are incredible. Just google a few, but not all of them. Save some as a surprise for yourself.

The up close and personal melee kills are the perfect speed where you get to enjoy the animation for a second but short enough not to interrupt the fast paced game play. Also you are gifted extra HP drop when you pull it off, same goes for the chainsaw except extra ammo drops.

The level designs get more complex as the game progresses and are big enough for you to get your fill on wondering around but small enough that you feel like you keep moving and having fun around every corner. On top of that... the graphics are very good.

So if you are looking for a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and knows how to have fun, then DOOM is for you. You may say scary games aren't for you, but the music gets you so hyped up that you get more in the mental state of "ok you demon scum, time to die" and less "omg demons!"

For me, this was a must buy and I found that out after I bought it. But if you are reading this and on the edge just go rent it at a redbox or borrow from a friend.

I'll be honest I have yet to step foot into multiplayer. All i did was customize my character then left. But that just goes to show how good single player is.

Hope you get a chance to play!

PS: I am a HUGE Uncharted fanboy. I stopped playing Uncharted for now to keep playing DOOM. So that's something to consider.

But the Devil's a back-stabbing prick and Mars' UAC facility is now a blood-soaked den of evil. Demons and undead fiends stalk the formerly pristine hallways while the greater envoys of Hell plan to expand their territory and engulf the solar system in blood and despair. However, the demons aren't the deadliest thing roaming Mars. Driven by the oldest, purest hate but sporting an arsenal of devastating futuristic weaponry, Doomguy returns to show both the demons and the FPS genre how to do **** right. Forget about deliberate pacing, regenerating shields, or cover-based combat; everything here is a hyper-kinetic orgy of gore, guns, and unparalleled badassness. Unfortunately, Doomguy's staggering speed and prowess occasionally results in enemies getting left too far in the dust and breaking the pace of the combat. You'll zip through battle blowing apart demons so fast that you'll often be left waiting for the game to catch up and spawn more enemies. It also doesn't help that the game relies a little too much on combat arenas that lock you in a location and don't let you progress until you've wiped out several cumbersome waves of enemies. When these arenas are large enough, and most of them are, then this isn't a problem. But it definitely is a large blow against a modern game with old-school stylings to allow itself to become too formulaic, regardless of how exhilarating it all is. Thankfully, everything outside of the combat measures up amazingly well. The level design is slick, atmospheric, and always allows a lot of room for exploration which is necessary if you want to find the excellent weapon mods and power-ups which add a significant boost to the already exciting combat. Guiding the action is a surprisingly well-written story about betrayal and revenge which never impedes the gameplay and gives both Doomguy and the player the perfect motivation for wanting to plunge headlong into a fray of demons with a roaring chainsaw. Welcome to Doom. Expand

Level design, while maybe not as intricate as doom 1/2 at the time of their respective releases, is relatively intricate compared to the modern linear corridor shooter. Secrets galore and alternate paths through environments. Well-paced gameplay, modernized classic doom enemies you actually have to put some thought into how you want to tackle. Plus they add quite a bit to the doom formula to innovate on things, like some genuinely interesting boss mechanics and alternate fire modes on weapons (and multiple other upgrade systems that tie into exploration of the level).

Story-wise it doesn't take itself seriously and goes for a tongue-in-cheek vibe that I'm sure most classic Doom fans will enjoy, much more than the brooding atmospheric doom 3.

Nonetheless, the multiplayer is still not doing much for me and feels very formulaic. Snapmap might be interesting, but I'll have to wait and see as players build levels using that in-game tool.

The campaign though carries enough content and replayability via secrets and easter eggs that I can see myself going back time and again just for that. Needless to say this is a must-play for anyone who is dying for an evolution on single-player fps gameplay.

Even on Normal difficulty, there were times where, I'm not ashamed to say, I died and would have to be a little bit more strategic concerning when to pick up armor, health, or power-up abilities that are placed around the map in order to win the battle. The weapon upgrade system puts a fun twist on the game, making it a challenge to master all of the weapons abilities before the end of the game. The multiplayer is classic arena gameplay, bringing back the classic fast paced action that so many arena style players have been begging for. If you like the multiplayer from the old Halo games , I would definitely give this a try. The multiplayer needs an actual leaderboard system, but other than that it is pretty solid. This game is a fresh breathe of air into the kind of stale and repetitive FPS genre. This style of gameplay stays true to the original games from the 90's yet fits so well to the modern times. The campaign's story is pretty straight forward but unimpressive. Go here, kill demons,, activiate this, rinse and repeat. But the great gameplay makes you forget about the story.

As for the multiplayer, they definitely fixed the balancing issues since the beta. Every kills/deaths are fair and will motivate you to keep playing. Doom offers traditional modes such as TDM, Capture the objective, and soul hunt (which is Doom's version of kill confirmed), but adds their unique modes such as freeze tag.The hack modules customization are endless, and just about covers anyone's style

Finally, let's talk about Doom snapmap. There are endless choices here. You can use your imagination to create new maps and game modes. The best part is once you have created something, it can be shared with the rest of the community in your platform. I have already seen some interesting ones from maps made of classic 16-bit textures to a intense survival mode.

Unless I am completely addicted looking at you bloodborne . I like to think things over let the review marinate and really think about it . I'm older I'm married and I have children I have a crazy job etc as I'm sure most of us do . I'll sit down with a title a couple of hours at a time and start to form my review . Also if you've read any of my reviews I'm an old guy compared to you whippersnappers so I like to give my personal experience and backstory with storied franchises . This may come off as fanboyism but all I'm trying to do is convey how special a title is if it is still relevant today . Games mean different things to different people as well as the memories associated with them .

In 1985 we lived on the south side of Chicago I quickly became friends with the kid across the street and we quickly became best friends . He also introduced me to the wonderful world of gaming . In 1992 my buddy moved to the suburbs . Not really that far but when you're a kid ..... Anyway once in awhile I would still go over to his house and we'd hang out play games whatever . In 1993 I went to visit and in his room he had a gateway pc with sound card and shareware version of something called doom . Now being used to new and sega consoles this was my first experience with both a pc and a pc game .

I was wowed the sound the enemies the guns and the gore and the environment . It was total sensory overload for me and blew me away . I loved the game as well as doom 2 and final doom . This game is the daddy of all first person shooters yes wolfenstein came before it but this was the one that captivated kids parents clergy and politicians alike there was simply nothing else like it and there wouldn't be for a long time until last Friday .

Upon booting up the game and selecting nightmare difficulty I was tossed into the fray . Within 10 seconds I was in combat strafing running and wait just what the hell is this jumping ?. I felt a little turned off . I ran through the first 3 maps using only a measly handgun . I was starting to lose faith it just didn't feel like doom . Then it all clicked for me . I started getting those old feelings again and adapted my playstyle accordingly . Next thing I know I'm surrounded by a multitude of demons all pining for my marine flesh or to turn my spleen into a sock puppet . The weapons start booming the music kicks in and the death rattles echo .

Make know mistake doom is dumb . There's no social commentary about violence or religion or child soldiers . Nope just shotguns and putting a moonroof in some big baddies face . Run kill demons rinse and repeat . I have heard this game called smart . Not a word I would use to describe gameplay but in terms of design ?. Doom is a Rhodes Scholar . I admit I was worried but the designers did their homework . From enemies to weapons to movement this is doom . Then when you discover things like the classic doom maps hidden within levels just sends the nostalgia factor through the roof . Most people grin when they see the bfg . Not me I grin when after 20 years I'm seeing the very best old doom levels and just how much they impacted game design . Dooms level design to designers is like Casablanca ro film buffs it's just timeless and totally relevant even today .

Doom could have did the stupid thing and tried to reinvent the wheel . Nope they took everything that made doom great giving it a modern aesthetic while still retaining its classic roots . Doom isn't willing to compromise its vision of what they want this franchise to be and that is so rare and refreshing in this day . The sound level design enemies and weapon animations are fantastic . I'm not a frames per second stickler and quite frankly I'd prefer that it run just a little slower so that my ps4 doesn't do its best imitation of a f-18 leaving the flight deck of an aircraft carrier . It's smooth fast and it rarely stutters but it will send your fan into overdrive . Playing in a 60 degree room with 2 fans cooking the console I could still hear the fan OVER a turtle beach headset so I wouldn't reccomend extended play sessions . None of that takes away from the game though .

Id could have played it safe and made this a game full of modern concessions . The glory kills for example highlight enemies in a blue orangeish hue after they have been staggered . This prompts you to preform a brutal melee glory kill that also replenishes health and sometimes ammo . In short this is the doom you've been waiting for . Oh and my best friend ?. Lives across the street again and tonight we are going to Slay some demons just like in 93 . Funny how things come full circle isn't it ?.
