    Old fans rage about the changes but refuse to look at the reasons they did it. This is NOT a single player focused game so they had to do much balancing here and there. The original games on PSP would not work online.

    While they did a remarkable job at balancing, its kind of sad that the netcode is the only true flaw I see in this game.     The gameplay is great though and you can jump in and and play a few matches and stop. Also the lootbox system is extremely cool since it can only be purchased with ingame gil. No real money required.

    Something that has improved greatly from the original games is that every character has a unique twist and mechanics that makes the gameplay refreshing. Bratz for instance has to master his moves during battle, which gives him buffs and stronger attacks, tidus is based on dash attacks, firion is a very strong ground fighter that can combine his combos as he likes but in the air he is very weak, Y'shtola puts out traps and debuffs enemies, zidane steals power from enemies, noctis is designed around his warp attacks, Warrior of Light is a more tanky style character with shields and super armor, Squal can trigger his gunblade during combos to greatly increase damage output and he can pull pretty strong combos by default, Sephiroth can dash cancel after a combo to quickly follow up, lightning can switch paradigms to fit the situation and onion knight can switch between ninja and priest in order to have long range or close range attacks to name a few.

    They respected the original games the characters come from and have put together a pretty decent fighting game with a pretty unique system that make this game one of its kind on the market.    … Expand

    Dissidia has a weird way of doing things, but how is it not like the original? Big landscapes, slow moves that are satisfying to pull off , a huge cast of characters coupled with fantastic graphics and soundtrack. I think the fanboys that are saying "this isn't dissidia" are the same fanboys that just want another RPG right now so they are using this game as a platform to complain.

    The amount of hate this game gets for nothing is ridiculous. It is a different game: it is not about PvE grinding fest where is no one using Bravery Attacks cuz they already have 9000+ bravery thanks to their gear.     However the pros far outway the cons. Its got great depth in its gameplay that rewards teamwork and practice, Its got fantastic visuals and the Soundtrack are to die for if you are a Final Fantasy fan or a fan of great music.

    Final Fantasy Dissidia NT is a flawed game. But what we have here is a great foundation that can only improve from here, with the inclusion of more game modes, Characters, maps and story content.     A lot of previous fans are downvoting this game because it's different than the previous games. It's like saying WoW Legion sucks because it isn't Vanilla WoW. Keep that in mind if you are new to the game.

    -The queues are long at higher ranked matches and often paired with bots. Online is the main bulk of the game.
    - Lack of story mode content, with all of it having to be unlocked through Gauntlet mode/Online mode.
    - No local multiplayer, so this makes the game hard to be an e-Sport.
    - No sufficient practice mode.

    The only real pros are the aesthetics and gameplay is subjective. I personally like it.    … Expand

    The game is amazing. It is not the average fighting game where one can spam ranged moves at all times. Knowing the complex but not challenging controls is what one has to master in order to improve in game plus teamwork is the key for long combos.     The only thing that they could've handled better is the Story and how this is played. You are forced to play online or offline battles in order to unlock cutscenes. The AI for the story is sucks at first since you have to play several offline fights in order to improve offline ranks and with this get smarter AI partners. Both of this issues are easily solved by farming offline battles with a Marsksman (such as Y'shtola, Terra or Ace) and play the mode that requieres one to destroy the enemy's crystal.

    The story is short as well, several characters lack screentime and the ones that do get some screentime are the franchise's favorites. Other than that they manage to keep track of the fanservice that such game is supposed to do. You should buy it at a reduced price but do not take long to buy it since it highly depends in online and like other online games it might get empty after some time.    … Expand

    Man, the amount of people willing to outright lie about this game just to bash it is staggering. The PSP games had equipment and a longer, more tedious story mode, and that is it. Nobody really liked the forced board game, right? Other than that NT’s actual battle system is outright objectively better than the originals. Not to mention the stuff like battling summons as bosses, the variable different gauntlet modes, and having the core battle as a different type of gameplay entirely.

    Assists obliterated 012's battle system, and made an already slow, safe, campy, spammy game even more painfully slow. Brave to HP link attacks were objectively better in all regards to other HP attacks, and spamming them and HP attacks were the only way to play at high levels, since unless you outgeared your opponent (which is a really lame way to play) brave attacks were just too weak to matter. The chase system was awful, air dodges were far too strong, and EX mode was basically just given to whoever happened to be closest to the core when it randomly appeared. Running away and endless dodging were common because there was no downside to it. Guard was only a parry, so people would never use attacks that could get stuffed by it. And EX bursts were just long, drawn out free brave and HP damage, and were really just guaranteed finishers if the players were even slightly competent.

    Now, HP attacks aren’t just better than brave attacks, and must be selected based on the player’s preferred playstyle. They are a commitment that dictates how one plays. Brave attacks are far stronger and more varied, while also bring more balanced so there aren’t any that are outright useless compared to others. Summons and the new cores are a bit overwhelming at first, but can be played around, and offer stage control first and foremost, rather than just using the best summon to get free brave like before. The cores must be attacked and defended from enemy attack, and summoning is a team effort that benefits the team. The game is focused around protecting allies, combining attacks with them for that amazingly satisfying feeling of comboing brave attacks to break and then an HP attack to seal the deal with your fellow players. Blocking protects you from brave attacks on all sides and can give you a much needed escape from pressure. The new EX system makes everyone’s skill more unique instead of being a generic super mode, and gives you two attacks/buffs/debuffs that you can decide to take with you to fit how you want to help the team. And the best part of all this teamplay is that the Final Fantasy series has always been based on teamwork since the original game, and we finally see that in a competitive real time game.

    Oh, and fyi, you CAN play 1v1 or 2v2.    … Expand

    Ok, so there is a lot to talk about this game. first of all if you are one of those guys who played any or both of the previous dissidia titles and the things you enjoyed in these games are the rpg elements they had and the 1v1 combat you might be disappointed cause almost every rpg (e.g. weapons armour accesories) are removed and the combat is only 3v3 oriented (even though you can stillOk, so there is a lot to talk about this game. first of all if you are one of those guys who played any or both of the previous dissidia titles and the things you enjoyed in these games are the rpg elements they had and the 1v1 combat you might be disappointed cause almost every rpg (e.g. weapons armour accesories) are removed and the combat is only 3v3 oriented (even though you can still have 1v1 battles). But if you like the idea of a 3v3 arena type game then this game does this job pretty damn well. lets go look over the pros and cons.
    pros:
    1) insanely good visuals and really good fps
    2) the music is awesome
    3) it has many appearence and weapon skins and everything is unlockable through game grinding (no real money required)
    4) the combat is nice, there is a variety of moves and ex skills and offers some good improvements over the previous dissidia's combat mechanics (still some things like the new dash could have ben better)
    5) from what little online play i had the characters seem well balanced
    6) overall the 3v3 experience is really enjoyable after you played the game for a little while (in the beggining the battlefield may seem chaotic as there are so many things to look out for and do)

    cons:
    1) if you dislike the idea of 3v3 battles and you expected a dissidia game like the old ones you may get disappointed
    2) the story mode is worse than the story mode of the previous games and you have to grind in an ofline arcade type mode in order to unlock parts of the story mode
    3) the offline modes generally feel repetitive and can be boring after a while so unless you have PSplus and some friends that also have the game to form a team with and play together online you will not get full value out of this game
    4) its a bit overpriced given that there are many conditions to fully enjoy the game    … Expand

    This game is super fun a fast paced people complain about it not being like the other , yeah they had a way way better story but gameplay wise this is leagues above it. Unlike the psp games this actually has fighting game depth and strategies involved.

    Great game. Heavily based off of the Dissidia Arcade machines in Japan. Videos and gameplay for that has been out for a LONG time, but people are still complaining and want SQEX to change what's been established as a successful game already? Those who complain and want change for the sake of their "nostalgia" are the reason we don't get more ports.

    NT allows for 3v3 battles where each player picks a character from the Final Fantasy roster and fights it out. The Bravery/HP system from previous Dissidia's returns and works as you'd imagine, you have attacks that deal bravery damage (Lowering an enemies bravery and increasing your own) and attacks that deal your bravery damage to their HP, resetting your bravery to 0 afterwards. The combat works and is very enjoyable when each player knows what they're doing, but it can be frustrating when a few players hold up the team.

    The gameplay does have its faults but those faults are generally not regarding the gameplay directly. Online modes use Peer 2 Peer connection which can cause some unstable matches. Matchmaking is also questionable and can either take a minute or 10 minutes. Luckily both of these issues have been noted by Square, if they'll improve is another matter.

    Looking at offline this game has a decent if limited selection of offline modes. The story is rather short and honestly very poor. The interactions between characters is as amazing as ever and it makes the story worthwhile. Summon Battles are an offline exclusive mode that while very fun, is over very quick. Gauntlets are the final offline mode which pits you against 6-7 fights of increasing difficulty while you have to manage your own score. This mode is actually a lot more replayable than you might first think, as maximising your score can be very difficult (Unless you employ a cheese tactic).

    All in All Dissida NT should have avoided calling itself Dissidia. The game is an absolutely solid fighter but it does not appeal to the Dissidia crowd. I love the game, I think it is very fun and works. But the game lacks offline modes and the story is a side thought. If you want an online experience then pick up the game, if you want an offline experience then I'd suggest looking elsewhere.    … Expand

The balancing is fantastic enough that every character feels viable and the net code, when you get a room with good connections, rivals that of many modern fighting games. Which was a pleasant surprise after the netcode of the beta.

    If you're a highly    Dissidia is not just a fun and exciting fighting game, it's probably the first Arena Fighter (Let alone 3v3) to ever feel competitive. The balancing is fantastic enough that every character feels viable and the net code, when you get a room with good connections, rivals that of many modern fighting games. Which was a pleasant surprise after the netcode of the beta.

    If you're a highly technical fighter like me you may want to pick up Squall(My main) or Sephiroth as both have low frame timings that make them high tier such as Squall's link combos called triggers based on his game, and Sephiroth's dash cancelling after combos. If you're more of a zoner, you might want to pick up Terra or Emperor who can control the field by laying protective traps and then flooding the field with orbs or Kefka who can change up his timings to keep you from predicting patterns.

    All of this makes a fantastic fighting game, but unfortunately I think for the target audience of Square not that great of an RPG. There is a story mode, kind of. You unlock cutscenes by playing the game and there are only a handful of story fights. Some of which, like Odin, i think will frustrate casual players who wont take the time to learn the game's more complex mechanics.

    I didn't lower my score to an 8 though due to it's lack of casual appeal, infact I enjoy games that are unafraid to focus on devoted and highly skilled players. Rather there is one major flaw in the game worthy of the two point drop to me: Summons. You'll see two unskippable summons a match and you'll get sick of them faster than any super spam in any fighting game. They're long, intrusive, and over 15 minutes of play you'll probably have seen Shiva 7 or 8 times because in high MMR matches she's the only one anyone picks unless they're running a premade team and know how to use the others. If this game had a summons off mode it would be an easy 10/10 and maybe an early competitor for game of the year, but as it is now? Still buy it new, it's a lot of fun and very competitive.    … Expand

    Dissidia NT offers Innovative gameplay in a landscape jampacked with 1v1 sidescrolling fighting games. While it may have less customization than previous entries, its probably mostly for the sake of balance. Lets not forget this is a port of an arcade game that noone ever complained about for a reason, it was great as it was, not more no less.

    To start with, I think it's necessary to point out that a substantial amount of the exclusively negative user reviews for this game suggest that the reviewer didn't actually give the game a chance. I do wish there'd been more single player content and a proper, more streamlined story mode that didn't involve grinding through 3v3 battles for tokens., that in turn unlock videos and battles in story mode, which in turn unlock additional game modes outside of story mode.

    It's an odd design, and I've noticed that many of these 0 score reviewers didn't even play through this part of the game. I think this site would've been far more credible if one actually had to play a game for a set period of time before being allowed to review it. That would likely result in more accurate user scores.

    Anyways, the gameplay itself is unique and I personally find it very enjoyable, although it didn't appeal to me initially. The battle system may seem simple at first, but it has a steep learning curve, and it won't appeal to everyone. My main gripe with this game would be that I wish it had offered more variety in game modes. It does have a few different features, but the core gameplay doesn't have a lot of diversity beyond It's deceptively deep combat system, that offers a high skill roof and a wide roster of different characters to master. If you don't like the combat and you're not willing to learn how it works, then chances are slim that you'll find any enjoyment in the rest of the game. It's hit or miss, in that respect.

    Personally, I'm not a fan of the boss battles in story mode, which basically have you dodging projectiles and AoE attacks while sequentially attacking a meat tank "summon". I can see how some people would enjoy these battles, but the lack of intelligence in the AI bots made this particular part of the game slightly frustrating for me, as they would ignore the fragile lightning nodes that empowered a certain boss, and at times they would simply be useless as team mates. Then again, I suppose the purpose of that challenge would've been lost if the bots would've actually helped get rid of them. Both friendly and enemy bots can be quite frustrating with their irrational actions sometimes, but if you enjoy the combat in this game, chances are you'll probably spend most of your time testing your ability against other players online.

    I imagine the gap between skilled players and the not so skilled players will fend off interest from more casual players, as players get more accustomed to the battle system. If you put in the time and effort to get good with some of the more complex characters in Dissidia NT, you'll hardly face any resistance from the vast majority of players online. It just doesn't have that Call of Duty, FIFA-esque casual appeal and it won't hold your hand if you're unable to improve. The combinations of skills in the game are fairly simple and easy to remember, but when to use them and the general timing of your actions is key to winning. Like I mentioned before, the combat system is deceptively deep and even if you master a character's move set, you'll struggle against more experienced players if you don't know how and when to use specific abilities.

    I refuse to believe that anyone who's bashing the combat system actually took the time and effort to figure out how it works. I was originally going to rate Dissidia NT with an 8, which I think is a fair score despite it's flaws. However, I'm giving it a 10 to offset the army of people who think the game is awful because it simply isn't similar enough to it's PSP counterparts. If you cannot rate a game objectively, don't rate it at all. If you still insist on rating it, at least play the game long enough to warrant a fair review.    … Expand

And without a demo to practice on, one would need to rent or borrow a copy to know if they can get along with the battle system, but unfortunately there is no such demo to be found making the $60 dollar price tag for the base game a hard pill to swallow unless you fit the middle chunk of fans of the old that are fine with a streamlined version of the game.

    To make matters worse, there isn't a whole lot of content for the money, not at first anyway. Starting out you get An online mode and an offline mode. There are more options but they don't become relevant until you've played a few hours. The story mode is locked behind profile progression, unlocking short cutscenes and NPC battles everytime you level up. And other game modes in single player are unlocked via progressing in story mode.

    Which is unfortunate as the same unique gameplay that could alienate newcomers is also a wonderfully chaotic experience. Matches are quick, great for killing a few minutes each and have enough variety to not get stale after hours of matches. What will get old, quick, is the wait between matches.

    It can sometimes take upward of five minutes to get a group together if you go into online alone. With no way to keep the team you're own, that means a lot of waiting for not a lot of gameplay. To make matters worse, the robust cast of nostalgic characters and the handful of customization options make trying new characters a bit tedious if you need a few matches to get a feel for them. At least there are the offline modes to try, but that's a poor consolation for an online-focused game.

    The problems don't end there. Sometimes, not too often, the game starts to chugs on online matches. The entire match turns into a slideshow of characters jumping around as you mash buttons to try and make some sort of progress. While better than having people jump around from lag or getting frozen to take a beating, it is a frustrating way to end a decent streak.

    Most people seem to consider this a fighting game, but I just don't see it. Sure, there's fighting in it but the manic map crossing and the 3v3 games lean it to feeling more like Overwatch only with a deathmatch win state rather than a point capturing one. You're constantly switching targets to either avoid fighters you're getting pummeled by or to do some pummeling yourself leading to lots of chaotic fun. The name of the game here is teamwork, and while you can win some matches with everyone pairing off with one opponent, the real fun is when everyone is clustered together, constantly switching up who they're attacking and being attacked by.

    The comparisons don't stop there, both being online focused experiences locked behind a $60 price tag. Dissidia even has loot boxes, but they are fortunately all earned in-game only with no microtransactions. Should the server and matchmaking issues ever be resolved, then I think this can become a multiplayer powerhouse. But as stands, it's hard to recommend for the price unless you're already familiar with the previous titles.

    However.

    While I can't say for certain if it's worth you're money, I can absolutely say it's worth your time. With so many characters and playstyles to tinker with and a unique 3v3 fighting system. It might be a little overwhelming for newcomers, but if you can rent or borrow the game, do it.

    It's way better than it's predecessors. Duodecim nerds don't understand the difference between an RPG and a Fighting game.

    the gameplay is revolusioner for fighting game, instead of attacking hp mindlessly you have to build up your brave before finishing enemy hp, much more fun that classing fighting game

    Eu jogo esse jogo desde de o lançamento 2018, a fila ranqueada no brasil não funciona pela falta de jogadores, mas existem salas privadas que você consegue jogar com as comunidades no discord sem lag e tudo mais.

    Tenho mais de 2000hrs no game e ainda continuo aprender coisas, ele nao possui o sistema de grind e level dos FFs antigos, mas para quem curte a pegada treino, e-sports, pvp,    Eu jogo esse jogo desde de o lançamento 2018, a fila ranqueada no brasil não funciona pela falta de jogadores, mas existem salas privadas que você consegue jogar com as comunidades no discord sem lag e tudo mais.

    O game não está morto! O que foi desligado é os servidores do ARCADE e não o NT que roda na PSN, ele não possui servidor no play então a conexão é diretamente com os jogadores, o jogo não roda bem com wifi e internets fracas e com pessoas que moram muito longe vai aumentar o lag.
