    This Game fails to deliver in anything but stunning visuals and music. The games new 3v3 is messy and gets rid of the depth and customization unlike the previous 2. Online is somewhat enjoyable when it actually chooses to work and not desync, which happens way too often.     If you got this game because of you enjoyed the previous two do NOT get this game, however if you like Gundam vs you may find this game a little bit more enjoyable.

    I loved the first two games so much I purchased this game blindly not knowing what to expect. The graphics looked amazing and the game play videos also looked amazing. Despite great looks the game feels really hollow in comparison to it's prequels.

    Combat System
    The first thing to point out is the forced 3v3. Now some parts of the game do have 1v1 but it's limited to training and custom online matches. The 3v3 feels a bit overwhelming and clunky the dashes are slow giving the feeling of constant floating. When fighting against AI players it feels like you're playing a game of slow float tag. Although the dashing feels slow the fighting feels very refined in comparison with the PSP versions. A simple fix would be to make the dash faster. It's also worth noting that HP attacks are limited to one and are no longer able to be customized.

    Graphics
    The game is visually stunning. In my personal opinion the game models are flawless.

    Customization
    This section is for people who are expecting the customization's that were previously in other FF Dissidia. FF Dissidia NT doesn't have much in the way of customization like the other two Dissidias leveling doesn't enhance your stats only unlocks skills and magics. Accessories, weapons and armor no longer provide any customization's for your fave characters stats. Instead Armor and Weapons are just cosmetics.

    Story
    Story is pretty bland and can be completed in roughly 15/20 hours in gauntlet/online matches leaving you with only fighting and unlocking outfits + weapons.

    Music
    Amazing. The tracks in all 3 Dissidias are amazing.

    Conclusion
    If you're trying to get the same experience as the PSP versions of FF Dissidia than this game is not for you. The RPG element has been changed where things such as levels doesn't matter in the overall strength of your characters. The combat system is fun and engaging although dashing could use an upgrade. If you were a fan of the customization found in prior games it is worth noting that the customization's are mostly cosmetic which will leave dedicated players learning for more. I give this game a 4/10 because although the combat system is improved it feels like a step down from the PSP versions.

    This is possibly the worst full price game I've played on ps4. I understand it's a fighting game but locking story mode behind in game tokens that you earn through grinding is stupid. The arena aspect doesn't work for 3v3 especially since you only have 3 abilities at a time. Also when you can't control the other 2 members of your team because of the arena aspect.     This game erased every single feature that made the predecessors great. There's no more leveling system/character developement, no more stats-changing equipments (only "skins" from preordering or loot boxes), no more worldmap, no more quest creation, no more ... nothing. Plus, you are not even able to play the story mode in one go as you can only open new chapters with a currency, you achieve by finishing online/offline-events. This is a feature very similair to typical stamina-like mobile game features like in Kingdom Hearts Unchained and Final Fantasy Record Keeper. The battle system is a chaotic mess (3on3) with a very flatten version of the original's features. Then, 6 characters from the predecessor were removed in exchange for 4 new ones, after promising a much bigger ruster and every previous character included.
    Dissidia went from a great content packed offline-experience with an additional online-mode to an online-focused game that lacks content and is not worth playing offline at all. After so many years of waiting for a new Dissidia and the hopes for one on home consoles, this full-prize monster shattered many people's dreams, me included.

Either I shell out even more money for Playstation Plus after purchasing a 60 dollar game or I play offline with stupid AI. At least I think they are stupid because it took me over an hour to beat the mock core battle in the tutorial mode. Not feeling the hype of grinding gauntlet mode(offline mode) afterHaving played both Dissidia and 012 on the PSP I feel this game is a huge let down.     The lack of single player is only made more apparent with the repetitive gameplay, and very few modes to change anything up. The roster, while great, is just the same characters we've seen with the addition (and subtraction) of a few characters. The 50+ characters that was going to be an eventual selling point needed to be one now.     I was a huge fan of the original games on PSP, and a huge fan of Final Fantasy in general. To be frank, this is the first time I have ever purchased a Final Fantasy game and felt true regret about my purchase.

    The Good:
    The character list and the combat are high points. There are plenty of characters to choose from from all across Final Fantasy history, and the combat, while not perfect, feels pretty fluid on most characters and requires thought and knowledge of your own, and your opponents abilities.

    The Bad:
    Pretty much everything else.
    Story mode was shoehorned in seemingly just to be able to say they still have a story, and to even experience the little story there is, you are FORCED to play either a repetitive boring offline Gauntlet mode, or play online.
    Offline modes are practically non-existent, you have Gauntlet, which runs you through a series of battles against increasingly difficult AI for Player/character exp, treasure (AKA Lootboxes), and items that unlock story mode cutscenes. You also have Sparring mode, which is essentially a watered down VS mode, minus the ability for local play, it may as well be called Training.

    Honestly, this is probably my most regretted purchase of a "AAA Title". It is worth maybe $20 AT MOST given the content provided. It has soured my view on the Dissidia series, and I feel greatly betrayed by what I was given for what I paid.

    Dissidia only in its name. This have nothing that the original Dissidia games had. It just uses the well established name and throw in a 3v3 moba fighter game. There are no RPG elements, no story, no dungeon, no sense of progress, no single player content at all. This game is not meant for single player. A complete disappointment for original Dissidia fans.

    all the new players who are playing dissdia dont have a clue about the PSP Dissdia if they did they would be able to point out whats been taken away from the engine.

    WHATS MISSING in the COMBAT
    (We should be be allowed to do more bravery attacks and hp attacks during play since its the 3rd game in the series.
    so we can mix things up and keep opponents guessing than spamming one move at them.
    (Clouds meteor rain and Cross slash + Braver having these at the same time )
    allow Bravery attacks to be linked with HP attacks
    allow us to combo string with a follow up attack (x) after we send opponents flying
    allow sent of flying opponents to dodge by tapping button at correct time and counter
    (like the psp games)
    allow us to crumple opponents
    change the guard state to be changed into parry that you tap to neglect moves and reward the player for doing a successful parry.
    cuz the guard state is predictable keep bashing until the guard turns red and breaks then
    for the defender all he can do is sit there like a duck and block and be pushed to a far away distance for the attacker when his combos end the opponent is pushed away into the distance only to run after him repeat the same x combo again and a again. )

    the engine was built from the grounds up but i get the idea that they did it so they could take things away from the games fighting engine as to why they needed to build it from scratch by leaving out what the PSP games accomplished. This like the J star victory a generic 3v3 game that u pick up and put down the next 5 hours of playing when you realise how shallow its story mode and combat mechs is.

The idea of being able to play as and against familiar characters from the Final Fantasy series in epic, fast-paced 3v3 battles with flashy effects and pretty graphics in an arena setting is its main draw, and in that sense it does deliver. Unfortunately, with online play being the intended focus of the game, all of theDissidia is a game targeted heavily towards its existing fan base. The idea of being able to play as and against familiar characters from the Final Fantasy series in epic, fast-paced 3v3 battles with flashy effects and pretty graphics in an arena setting is its main draw, and in that sense it does deliver. Unfortunately, with online play being the intended focus of the game, all of the negatives that come with it bring down the enjoyment significantly to make the player feel like game is in more control than the player. Lag is often present, and when it is, it turns into a game of luck. Controls become unresponsive and arbitrarily drop button input, player positions teleport, hits that register visually will not actually process, etc. Both the ranking and matchmaking systems do their jobs poorly, and in turn compound their effects together resulting in an alarming amount of unbalanced matches that are not competitive. Players are either overly penalized or generously rewarded in unfair setups that put one side at a clear advantage due to some combination of team composition, inclusion of bots, map selection, and "actual" player ability. Until these issues are improved, it's difficult to see this game stand next to other AAA titles meant for competitive play. Expand

The game play, while it does make sense on paper after reading the tutorials, does not have any intuitive factors to it. it's reinventing the wheel by slashing the tires on the car. Nothing this game does is done right. It feels like a mess for people who are Final Fantasy fanboys who couldn't get the grasp of a traditional 3D fighter, but what modern Final Fantasy game isn't a mess?

    What a disappointment. Everything I loved about Dissidia is missing and I wasted $60. No story and no reason to play. I didn't buy this expecting or wanting an online-focused experience. If you love the old games, avoid this at all costs.

    Having been an avid fan of Dissidia since the PSP releases, I was expecting a lot from this game in the hopes of there being a decent current gen console spinoff Final Fantasy game that had all the gratuitous fan service of the original PSP games.

    However, this game at its core is nothing more than a watered-down arcade fighter with single player elements shoe horned in at the very end.
    Having been an avid fan of Dissidia since the PSP releases, I was expecting a lot from this game in the hopes of there being a decent current gen console spinoff Final Fantasy game that had all the gratuitous fan service of the original PSP games.

    However, this game at its core is nothing more than a watered-down arcade fighter with single player elements shoe horned in at the very end. The original was a 1 v 1 fighting game of an unorthodox nature that mostly played on fan service for fans of the series.

    The game just feels empty and unsatisfying because a lot of the variety of the characters has been taken away in favor of overall simplified characters to play with. For most of the characters, you only have one HP slot (with the exception of Vaan) whereas in the original titles you had at least four HP slots with a multitude of Bravery attacks that could be chained into HP combos.

    And speaking of Bravery attacks, you have no control over what they are or how they are assigned to your directional controls, which takes away how to mold the character around your playstyle.

    The story mode, cutscenes, and event battles are all locked away behind Memoria that forces you to play the boring gauntlet mode repeatedly to the point it becomes like grinding, and that is also the only way to level up your characters instead of being able to do single battles against increasingly higher-level opponents to do so.

    That being said, the visuals are stunning, and the music is nice but that’s really all the game has going for it as far as the positives.

    The multiplayer, at this point, is borderline unplayable because of the network desynch issues and the servers dropping you (and your party members) at random times. There are no dedicated servers and it causes a ton of issues because there are six people connecting to each other at any given time.

    All they had to do was give us more game options for solo play and ranked 1 v 1 matches to add to the severe emptiness of this game. It has been out for less than a week and I already have no desire to play it in favor of games that actually function properly.

    The other mode is destroy the other team cristal.
    That's the entire game.
    There is no story mode, you just watch cutscenes exchanging coins you get playing the other two modes i just mentioned.
    Dont' buy, dont support. They need to give games pasion and a reason to play, this is empty.

    Dissidia NT is a shallow game with lots if visual noise. I am a fan of the fact that equipment is gone and I never cared about the story but customizing you're characters skills are gone. Each character gets to use one single HP attack for the whole match and you can't change your move list up. Another awful edition because they just ported the camera from the old games and it isn't meant to deal with multiple targets and frequently locks onto something you didn't want it to leading to you getting hit in the back. Then most matches turn into two 2v1s. your teammates tag team on guy while his friends tag team you.

    Then fighting the AI by yourself isn't even fun, it literally just runs away the entire match. Its clear this game was never meant to be anything more than an arcade fighter by why does that mean Sephiroth can't have octislash scintilla and meteor for multiple options of engagement?

    However, I was sorely disappointed with what was very limiting content for quite an extortionate price. The online mode is not only laggy due to P2P node connections and vary wildly, but are horrible for being teamed up with other players. This is specifically noticeable if you are teaming up with a friend and waiting for a 3rd. Waiting for nearly 10 minutes for a game is not a fun experience Square Enix!

    In addition, the customization is extremely lacklustre and uninspiring, the modes very limiting, and story locked behind a grind wall. It got very boring, very quickly. Not to mention, in most cases as a bronze player, and having no dissidia experience going up against Bronze E players did not feel balanced, and some of the people you faced clearly were better than Bronze E ranking.

    Finally, the graphics and the soundtrack pulled me into this game, it certainly did all the character creations justice, and it looks like a Final Fantasy game. Ultimately though, I'd give this game a miss, it's feels incomplete, and not up to Par.

    It's beautiful. The character design, the costumes, the effects of the attacks, they're all so beautiful. But that's where good aspects of this simplified Dissidia game end. The story is lacklustre and can't even begin to compare to the original PSP titles. The single player features have been dumbed down and, in most cases, removed completely.     Requirement to obtain memoria to open story cut scenes (This wouldn't be an issue, however you spend the majority of the game in matchmaking, which makes the process a drawn out bore fest).

    I love the roster, the idea that all those great heroes and villains are fighting each other with their unique skills and spells, but this gets old really fast. After playing the tutorials, a few offline matches and a few online matches I was kinda bored, to be honest. And don't even get me started on the LAG issues for online play... I can't describe. You have to see it with your own eyes... it's no joke.

    I wish this game was more engaging, and got me hooked into the idea of grinding and leveling the characters. But... in the end, it pains me to admit that - at least for me - Dissidia NT is not that much fun...

    um, what happened here, SE? We have two story-driven cross-over games in Dissidia 1 and duodecim and outta nowhere you change it into a tag-team Super Smash Bros? for what purpose? That's a rhetorical question as we all know it's only purpose was to latch onto a well established classic. The first two Dissidia's were highly revered and for good reason. They did what classical FF games didum, what happened here, SE? We have two story-driven cross-over games in Dissidia 1 and duodecim and outta nowhere you change it into a tag-team Super Smash Bros? for what purpose? That's a rhetorical question as we all know it's only purpose was to latch onto a well established classic. The first two Dissidia's were highly revered and for good reason. They did what classical FF games did well and are known for; narrative driven games with loads of mythological ties sprinkled everywhere and threw in a very fun action RPG battle system.
    this game...this game is not that. It's a brawler/fighter and a watered down version of it's predecessors. It saddens me, truly.
    If they wanted another FF fighter they could have just called it Ehrgeiz 2...and even that game had a better story mode, the deep dungeon was great (same as the one in FFT) but nuuuooooo...they wanted to latch onto one of their popular IP's. In what world were they thinking that the people who loved the first 2 as story-driven single player titles would want to all of sudden play it as a online 3v3??
    if you want a FF game that brings all the characters together in a neat way and is story driven just pick up FF Record Keeper or Brave Exvius; two FREE mobile games that sadly are gacha's yet still better than this game.

    graphics and music are still top notch and the battle is fairly smooth so have to give them some points for those.

    The best part about the game is seeing some of the old FF characters with high-quality models, and voice acting (Japanese voice acting is available). Though that's really where the positives end.

    The story is the standard Koei Tecmo series mashup where some random world is dying, so an entity summons in heroes from other worlds to save it. I was able to unlock about half of the story sections before I got tired of the combat. While the acting and situations the characters were in weren't bad, it was all predictable given that I'd played these types of stories before. And of course, the characters don't act quite right given their relationships in their actual games are different and many of them are supposed to be dead.

    There's a lot of DLC for the game, including characters that you'd think are necessary for a Final-Fantasy mashup, such as the most popular heroines: Yuna, Tifa, and Ryona. While you can see them in the game, you can't use them unless you pay extra. That's simply unacceptable. Well, at least we get Terra, which is a treat.

    The combat is very different, and I consider it bad compared to standard fighting games. In short, you mash O until the numbers on your character turn purple, then mash Square to kill your opponent. Pressing different directional keys while mashing O gets you different attacks and there's special moves on cooldown. What's most challenging about this combat system is positioning: if you start an attack, it mostly executes in a pre-determined area. So if you're not in the right position in relation to your opponent, you'll miss. I frequently questioned why when I fired a ranged projectile that it didn't go right toward the thing I was targeting. Well, at least everyone has the same irritating positioning system, so it's even.

    So the combat system ends up being very chaotic. With some work, you could learn its numerous positioning quirks and master it, but that's really only something that the online competitive gamer might be interested in (which I'm not).

    I got to the point in the story where I had to fight summons (such as Ifrit/shiva) and realized that this was going to take a lot of grinding to get my story level up to point where I was powerful enough to beat them (since I hadn't mastered the combat system). At that point, I decided to quit. If I really wanted to see the rest of the story, I'd just watch it on Youtube. But then again, I'm not even interested enough in it to do that.

    To compare some more with other fighting games: there's no model viewer and there's only two costumes per character (with color variations). That's well below standard fighting game standards.

    This is a short review for me, but there's not a lot to this game. It's not fun, not intellectually intriguing in any way, and comes with a generic story. Get only if you're interested in competitive online combat with Final Fantasy characters.

    The number 1 reason why Dissidia NT is lackluster is because despite adding support for more players in the battlefield as well as a visually appealing and deeper summoning system... the game is underdeveloped in the fundamentals that actually -matter- in a Dissidia title.

    Let's breakdown what these fundamentals are:

    *Character Customization. You would think that with all the support for chat dialogue, skins, weapon skins, profile appearance and all the other cosmetic options that this topic would cut it. But it doesn't. A real Dissidia player cares about aesthetics -last-. Aesthetics matter -after- mechanical customization has been decided. Watch a youtube video on Dissidia 012 for customizing a character's loadout. The first thing that any player asserts when customizing is the choice of -abilities- aka bravery and HP attacks. In Dissidia NT, not only is there no choice for customization of bravery attacks or what control bindings they are (stick tilted up / stick tilted down), but the player is also limited in what HP attacks they can bring. The player is limited to 1 selection of hp attack.

    Let me explain just how stripped the skill customization is compared to past titles. In past Dissidia, you could select different bravery attacks based on analog stick orientation (aka L3 or R3), and on the grounded-airborne status in battle. If you were airborne and off the ground, you would have up to 3 choices of bravery attack. And if you were grounded on the ground you would have another 3 different selections! THIS ALSO APPLIED to HP attacks.

    What this expanded arsenal of up 6 bravery attacks and 6 HP attacks did wasn't to convolute the dynamics... in fact it was fluent and seamless! It required the player's skill to coordinate and execute their attacks. The skill ceiling was high, but the learning curve was not in the slightest any steeper for it! Why development decided to abandon such a rudimentary component is... disheartening.

    I would describe the mechanics of the gameplay as "dumbed down" and "clunky".

    *Gameplay controls and mechanics. Don't get it twisted; I am very impressed with the ex mode system and especially the summoning system. It surpasses the predecessors in this area. Seeing an actual instance of Ifrit or Bahamut in 3d on the battlefield blows my mind with its nuance. It also adds a very enjoyable dynamic of pressing the urgency of being in control of the summon cores that spawn in -because- the summons and their passive bonuses are so influential to the outcome. However, like I said about the abilities/skills customization being dumbed down, this also tragically applies to even the most basic of controls. I'll explain each point in a sub-list:

    **Pacing. It's no lie that the "action" for lack of a better word is happening much more leisurely. What used to be what I describe as rapid pace, superhuman, is now eerily human and realistic. It is slower and lethargic. The slow pace doesn't make Dissidia NT any more methodical. I find it makes it less so. Bravery attacking an opponent, sending them flying, then proceeding to dash towards them could happen all within 5 seconds in past Dissidias. In NT, this same sequence would take nearly double the time. This may be owed to changes in the dash system itself, but the game is far less enjoyable when the pace is slowed.

    **Dashing and interactions. Continuing of the last point, the movement system (including the dash system in which it is a component) has both improved and devolved. It improved because the types of dashes are no longer restricted to the AP (ability points) customization and are now accessible from a simple one button control. The movement system has become cumbersome. Irritating, even. Ignoring the fact that the default control scheme binds Circle to jump and X to bravery attack, maneuvering yourself vertically is immensely more difficult with limited jumping height and dashing. Scaling walls is also unintuitive with the need to be at the base of the wall and requiring 2 buttons. There are no more Triangle interactions.

    **Shielding and dodging. The shield is actually now a detriment because of the long execution time. Shielding used to be a responsive click that led to a quick thrusting of an arm that blocked bravery attacks effectively. Now it is delayed to start, and the animation lasts far too long afterwards to be useful. There is no window after blocking in which you can parry your opponent. They would have already attacked again or escaped. Parrying was possible in past Dissidias. Dodging is fine, but speed-distance quotient is less.

    For these reasons and more if I had the space, I conclude with rating Dissidia NT below par. At a low 4/10

    Square Enix's fanservice at its finest. Graphics are real bad, gameplay is real bad, music is for the first time in a ff game real bad. It doesn't feel like a fighting game, it doesn't feel like a rpg. What the heck is this??

    Then again, I shouldn't have bought this in the first place as I really HATE all these crossover games which shares really little charm.

    I knew perfectly about that e-sport desires of this Dissildia series entry. However having picked up Final Fantasy TCG and seeing wonderful art as well as being in love with two first Dissilidias I thought "it cannot be that bad, can it?".
    Oh boy I was wrong. This game, its philosopy wrecks what was good in the series. This is now only a beat-them-up game, not an action-jrpg-BEU game.

    Oh boy I was wrong. This game, its philosopy wrecks what was good in the series. This is now only a beat-them-up game, not an action-jrpg-BEU game. Problem is the game is much more chaotic and simply less rewarding than PSP entries. I even watched some gameplay from PSP and even now that old games look more enjoyable. For instance they removed "chase" and EX-Burst Mechanic (in the form of limit). Those exciting and epic mechanics are simply gone.
    Shame.... The bigger it looks so damn gorgeous.

Spend hours and hours just to get railed by unfair bosses that one shot the player. Waste of time, and waste of money. As someone that has beaten every FF game but XI, this is worst Final Fantasy game ever made. Hell I've beaten every souls game and these are the mostUtter garbage. Nearly impossible to beat summon bosses ruin this game. Grindy as hell just to get through the story mode. Spend hours and hours just to get railed by unfair bosses that one shot the player. Waste of time, and waste of money. As someone that has beaten every FF game but XI, this is worst Final Fantasy game ever made.     Don't buy this, don't download the free version its not worth anybody's time. Square and Team Ninja should have to bare the shame they have brought on by making this piece of crap. I hate this garbage and I hate square enix for making it.

Upping the amount of players from 1v1 to 3v3 makes this game a chaotic mess, and despite this being the supposed "bigger" console version, the highlight of its two portable predecessors -- the rather robust story mode -- has been greatly scaled back.

    And then, to top it
    After two satisfactory portable entries, Dissidia makes its grand debut on console... only to fall flat on its face. Upping the amount of players from 1v1 to 3v3 makes this game a chaotic mess, and despite this being the supposed "bigger" console version, the highlight of its two portable predecessors -- the rather robust story mode -- has been greatly scaled back.

    And then, to top it all off, there's microtransactions. If this was Square's attempt to break into the eSports scene, they were completely misguided.
