This is, genuinely, the first time I’ve ever been hooked on an online-orientated competitive game.

Bustling and fun, it has quickly become every Final Fantasy‘s fan (and new acquaintances) forbidden dream. Dissidia Final Fantasy is what we can call fan-service at its best.

Dissidia NT successfully builds upon what came before to make its resurfacing as a competitive focused fighter a deeply satisfying one.

    A frenetic and fun product.

Without the inclusion of basic in-game move lists or character tutorials, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT presents players with a pretty steep barrier to entry and learning curve.

For what it is, instead of what it was, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is an enjoyable team-based brawler for those interested in a seamless online experience and fanservice with your favorite Final Fantasy characters.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is an amalgam of both positive and negative design choices, but overall it’s an excellent combination of interesting fights, varied characters, and entertaining fan service. It’s a worthy successor to the last home Dissidia release, and while it’s not perfect, it’s certainly a slick and stylish way to spend a few hours unlocking new costumes and moves.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a Final Fantasy fan’s dream, with oodles of playable characters presented across a truly beautiful variety of stages. Its fast, frantic battle system makes it easy to pick up and play, but also difficult to master once you delve into the inner workings of each hero. Unfortunately, it’s held back by a distinct lack of modes and progression options beyond a ludicrous number of cosmetic goodies.

Full of fan service, but struggles to welcome anyone who isn't already invested in Final Fantasy. [Apr 2018, p.74]

A great fighting game with a good technical work but with a lack of game modes.

Dissidia NT for PS4 is a game that loses itself in its attempt to be different. It is full of fan service and this aspect is very well done, but gameplay wise the game tends to be chaotic, disorganized and confusing. At times, when everything works out, Dissidia NT can be a really great experience, and those times show you the potential this game had if it didn’t try to be so crazy and unique.

A playable tribute for the Final Fantasy enthusiast. A port from the arcade to PlayStation 4 with all his multiplayer frenzy. Adds a new story that confronts and explains the new war between heroes and villains from Final Fantasy. Great PVP, but a lack of content for the single player.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT its a really chaotic and entertaining combat game. Albeit it has notorious flaws like reduced and limited game modes, fluctuating online performance and kinda broken gameplay physics and mechanics, its a game that will fascinate all those players that give it a chance and, especially those who are fans of the Final Fantasy series.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a chaotic and messy brawler which manages to be much more fun than you would like thanks to responsive controls and a huge cast of diverse characters.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is an arena-brawler with a beautiful roster, confused gameplay, and lacks of a 1vs1 mode. Well-balanced, linked to eSports, has some elements that could be adapted to the casual player or the Final Fantasy fan, to make itself more complete.

While the battle mechanics of this team brawler are pleasantly “different” and there is an abundance of cosmetic fan service items, the actual gaming content is quite shallow. Here you feel the most that the journey of the almost 30 beloved characters started in the arcades.

A great homage to the Final Fantasy series that may not be the best fighting game, but as it is, it's an interesting and different take on the genre.

Dissidia FF is a spin-off title with all focus on one aspect, which is fighting. The gameplay is fine, although sometimes chaotic, but the decision to lock story content behind fighting is a mistake. Solid title, nothing more, nothing less.

Although it's more focused on the competitive side, it does its job and delivers a quite enjoyable experience.

The all-star fighter returns via the arcade for a deep, characterful game that struggles to endear itself to fans and newcomers alike.
  2. Feb 2, 2018
The thing is, what Dissidia NT does do well is hamstring itself from actually being good. A good fighting mechanic can only carry a game so far, outfitting the game with so little in the way of modes to actually experience is bad enough, but to then completely lock away a staple mode of fighting games to force people to repeat play stagnant modes is practically unforgivable, especially for a story based franchise like Final Fantasy.
  3. Feb 6, 2018
It’s still a really exciting, interesting and different fighter. That last bit is crucial – despite similarities to the Gundam games, there’s nothing else quite like Dissidia on the market, and some will certainly find themselves hooked on its unique, hectic type of battle.

This have nothing that the original Dissidia games had. It just uses the well established name and throw in a 3v3 moba fighter game. There are no RPG elements, no story, no dungeon, no sense of progress, no single player content at all. This game is not meant for single player. A complete disappointment for original Dissidia fans. I loved the first two games so much I purchased this game blindly not knowing what to expect. The graphics looked amazing and the game playI loved the first two games so much I purchased this game blindly not knowing what to expect. The graphics looked amazing and the game play videos also looked amazing. Despite great looks the game feels really hollow in comparison to it's prequels.

    Combat System
The first thing to point out is the forced 3v3. Now some parts of the game do have 1v1 but it's limited to training and custom online matches. The 3v3 feels a bit overwhelming and clunky the dashes are slow giving the feeling of constant floating. When fighting against AI players it feels like you're playing a game of slow float tag. Although the dashing feels slow the fighting feels very refined in comparison with the PSP versions. A simple fix would be to make the dash faster. It's also worth noting that HP attacks are limited to one and are no longer able to be customized.

    Graphics
The game is visually stunning. In my personal opinion the game models are flawless.

    Customization
This section is for people who are expecting the customization's that were previously in other FF Dissidia. FF Dissidia NT doesn't have much in the way of customization like the other two Dissidias leveling doesn't enhance your stats only unlocks skills and magics. Accessories, weapons and armor no longer provide any customization's for your fave characters stats. Instead Armor and Weapons are just cosmetics.

    Story
Story is pretty bland and can be completed in roughly 15/20 hours in gauntlet/online matches leaving you with only fighting and unlocking outfits + weapons.

    Music
Amazing. The tracks in all 3 Dissidias are amazing.

    Conclusion
If you're trying to get the same experience as the PSP versions of FF Dissidia than this game is not for you. The RPG element has been changed where things such as levels doesn't matter in the overall strength of your characters. The combat system is fun and engaging although dashing could use an upgrade. If you were a fan of the customization found in prior games it is worth noting that the customization's are mostly cosmetic which will leave dedicated players learning for more. I give this game a 4/10 because although the combat system is improved it feels like a step down from the PSP versions.

This Game fails to deliver in anything but stunning visuals and music. The games new 3v3 is messy and gets rid of the depth and customization unlike the previous 2. Online is somewhat enjoyable when it actually chooses to work and not desync, which happens way too often. The game forces you to do arcade and story mode exclusively with AI partners which leads to you having to grind up the character AI just to get them to actually attack which you will feel heavily in boss fights. The game does not feel tight at all which will lead to a lot of inputs getting eaten unlike the previous 2.
If you got this game because of you enjoyed the previous two do NOT get this game, however if you like Gundam vs you may find this game a little bit more enjoyable.
