Amazing game! If you're a fan of previous games made by David Cage you'll love Detroit. Don't think we'll see a better story game this year and the amount of choices and different paths is impressive. Visuals are the best i've seen across all platforms including PC, the voice acting is superb and is a game that triggers lots of emotions.

I empathized with all the characters even the side characters whom I often put myself in danger to save, they mattered that much to me. I made some mistakes, and living with the impacts of my decisions really made me question myself afterwards. Each section of the game has so many possible outcomes, it's impossible not to come back for another play-through again and again to experience the entire story that Detroit has to offer.

This game heavily focuses on the use of choice based conversations that will heavily sway the outcome of each conversation ultimately leading to multiple different outcomes not seen on this scale before. If you like or don't mind quick-time events (maybe because you're actually good at them) then you will love Detroit. There is nothing stopping you from playing one of the best story driven experiences of the year.

Fotrnite and PUBG, Call of Duty and Rainbow Six: Siege, Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 1... Are you crying out for great single player, narrative games that require your undivided attention? Then look no further, Detroit: Become Human will captivate you, engage you and make you think about every choice before making it.

The writing, while a bit slow at parts, is really well done and consistent. The QTE sequences actually provide a challenge in experienced mode. The characters are extremely likable and the performances by their actors are phenomenal. It doesn't have a lot of game play mechanics, but it truly is great if you like Telltale style games. And for once, there is no illusion of choice. There were minor choices I had made that literally came back to bite me in the ass later. It has so many branching paths and lives up to the "actions have consequences" trope.

Don't listen to anyone bashing this game for being an "interactive movie". Detroit is a great game that will provide you hours upon hours of replay value, and my game of the year.

Detroit exceeds both Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls in all aspects, which is quite the achievement. Before I delve into its greatness, a slight con was that the game could have been longer (clocking only 10-12 hours), however its length still fit perfectly with the story and its replay-ability makes up for it, as I will discuss further.

Just finished my 1st play-through and I have not had a game linger in my mind so heavily, tempting me to go through another play-through to fulfill the "if only I did this" possibility as a way both to fulfill my curiosity and atone for my "mistakes", and I am not one for replaying games. While on the subject, the game has true replay-ability, with every choice in the game having legitimate short-term and long-term consequences, leaving you feeling relieved, regretful, shocked, and or devastated by the actions you choose and its outcomes, and seeing it all play out in a final ending, whichever one it may turn out to be, is both emotionally moving and thrilling.

The soundtrack is probably one of the greatest I have heard in any entertainment platform, including video games and shows/movies. The voice-acting and graphics are amazing, the story is simple yet complex and elicits every human emotion you can ponder up, and with an epic finale(s) to keep you up at night.

Overall, if you want to experience a journey that will test your convictions, play with your emotions, and leave you pondering your existence and the future of this world, I highly recommend purchasing this game.

While it does possess the usual David Cage charm that may not appeal to most, I personally found the approach to be problem free and I believed that my choices carried weight.
That's what Science Fiction allows you to do: suspend your belief. I totally surrendered myself to the world of Detroit and the well-written and relatively grounded characters of Markus, Kara and Connor.
Exceptionally written dialogue coupled with a fantastic soundtrack and beautifully rendered graphics and animations (some of the best I've ever seen) make this one of the most enjoyable games that I have played in recent memory.
This game is a work of art and I believe it would appeal to all fans of Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Until Dawn or any games across the Telltale Games catalogue.
Ultimately if you enjoy a decent story you will find that here and will come away with more than you expected from the beginning.

Clearly the critics are wrong about this. When a rating is this different you can tell the critics don't know what they are talking about. Sure there are some rough edges, but we should praise a game for not having cancer DLC or micro-transactions. Not every game has to be a shooter full of action packed from start to finish death and explosions.

Truly an absolutely amazing game. It wasn't just because of the beautiful graphics, (especially the characters, no tired cake-face here) or the excellent soundtrack, which are both good qualities, but many games have those; what really set Detroit apart for me was the amount of impact that your choices had.

While most games present an illusion of choice, or have very minor differences like alignment points or something, the choices in Detroit actually change the story in meaningful ways, who lives, who dies, and the state of the world they live in can all be impacted by your choices.

Each of the three main characters are very different from each other, and have their own motivations and goals, and the way that the choices are handled intertwine and really help the world feel reactive, for example an incident experience by one character can become a news story seen by another character, which can then have its own impact.

If you are still uncertain, there is a demo to try out, but if story-based games like QuanticDream's other games, or the many games by Telltale are your thing, then Detroit won't disappoint.

Detroit: Become Human is a great game. The story is outstanding and well put together. I enjoyed playing the roles of each character and wondering how their lives will change as events take place. What I liked most about DBH was the impact of my choices. When played in Experienced mode, the action and combat scenes were intense. The graphics are sleek and clean. The lighting fits perfectly for each situation and does a good job at setting the mood of the story. The replay value is relatively high if you're interested in making different choices the next time around. I highly recommend this game. It's a nice change of pace and enjoyable. If you're not into interactive stories, this game is not for you. If you've played Heavy Rain and enjoyed it, this will be right up your alley. Newcomers should definitely give it a try. Expand

There's no sense on giving this game a bad review. I'm so tired of the "interactive movie" argument.

Technically its a masterpiece, maybe the best graphics I've ever seen on a game. The animations are well done, perfect voice acting, great bso... and of course the most important thing about this title... Choices REALLY MATTER all time. There's a lot of small choices that must be taken

There's a lot of small choices that must be taken in a very short period of time (like 3-4 seconds) that matters a lot so you have almost no time to think about the consequences, that's the strongest point of the game imo.

Duration is fine and story its so good, specially the Connor-Anderson parts.

This game is extremely polarising as it is dependant on if you love gameplay or story as the game is way too story leaning and with gameplay scattered in there. However, I love story based games so I simply loved it >>

An excellent, smart, emotional and clever game. This boost my hope for games that have a strong agenda and able to keep you intrigued with a profound story, rather than the usual hack'n'slash. I hope to see more of this from Quantic Dream.

I cannot for the life of me understand nor accept the negative reviews about this game, either they struggle with the actual concept or simply cannot grasp the fact games are evolving, incorporating the End User more so and also try to Involve the players as much as possible.

The graphics on Detroit -Become Human are simply ‘INCREDIBLE’ the game play’s fantastic, realism Stunning and the emotional attachment to EVERY character Irreplaceable/mesmerising. This game is truly an amazing Masterpiece and I would 100% Recommend it to anyone, anyone who embraces the fact/concept that games are moving into a new realm/realism. This is the 1st game I’ve played where I know my decisions affect the Gameplay and it’s something I’m new towards but I really do embrace it. I hope Quantic Dreams follow up after this stunning game and bring us even more explorative/innovative games in the near future. (SPOILERS) This game is just a masterpiece, I do not have a playstation, BUT I looked at the passages of 5 at least.
Let's start with the fact that the story of Kara is very deep in the soul, I will not say that I had the same in childhood as I did with Alice (maybe moments and worse moments and better), but there is something similar in this. Her whole story caused me such an influx of emotions that I shuddered and sobbed like a child when Kara, for example, was beaten by the girl's father, or when her memory was erased in one of the options.
Connor's story was also not bad, and the relationship with the LEITNIATIC is also quite interesting, but does not reach the level that the story of Cara and Alice.
The story of Marcus, I would say noble and very kind, but at moments stupid, honestly some situations are solved before the banality simply, but we'll write it off just that - it's not interesting. In general terms, that the characters of the first plan, that the characters of the second are not written on f**k o*f, and are worthy of respect. I do not know how others, but I'm getting involved, and as for me it's a very good indicator of thoughtfulness.
The game is worth its money, and frankly, as a PC user I see the point of buying a console because of Detroit, One of us and the God of War.
For the whole game, I cried 6 times (I'm not inclined to emotions, I can eat and watch disgusting things and do not blink an eye and everything in that spirit, but there was something that made me cry.)
The game does not get out of the head for about 3-4 days, and really makes you think, at least over Marcus's words: "- Eye for the eye and the world will go blind," or when the Lieutenant told Connor that the androids are better than people morally (there about the son was ). In general, I repeat the game of their money, if the book comes out I will buy without even thinking, the second part will come out and buy the playstation. The history of Kara has sunk very deep into the soul, and it is unlikely that some other game will repeat this result. 10 living androids out of 10.

Choices you make change the world — stealing a weapon opens more paths to use that weapon down the road, murder someone and it will appear on tvs and magazines, save someone and that character may become a worthy ally later on.

I’m on my second playthrough and choosing completely different decisions and I’m experiencing a very different narrative.

As far as graphics, they are up there with the new God of War, possibly better depending on your aesthetics. The soundtrack is also amazing, with different composers for each main character—helping with their unique feel and story.

I fell in love with the characters. The cast are all amazing actors and it was the one of the few times I cared about characters in a video game.

In conclusion, I imagine I will play the complete game at least 4 times before I see mostly everything/get bored.

Don’t miss out on this title!

Connor's sole purpose is to bring down androids that have become deviant; Markus is out to show the world that androids are living beings; and Kara only wants to live her life and have a family. Throughout the story, you face challenges and choices that will mold what type of android that character becomes. These characters can also live or die by your choices if you choose to play on the experienced difficulty.

When playing Connors story, you get teamed up with Lt. Anderson and have to work together to solve deviant cases. Anderson is not particularly fond of androids and it is up to the player to decide if they want to try to change that or not. Regardless of what you choose, your mission is to find the leader of the deviant androids and take him down. Markus is an android that lived a simple life before it got turned upside down by some unfortunate events. After these events Markus finds a deviant safe haven, Jericho, and decides he will no longer live his life staying quiet. North, Josh, and Simon are androids that Markus enlist to help him with his cause. Working as a team, you four will ultimately decide which path Markus will go down; peace or violence. Kara is an android owned by Todd Williams who tasks Kara with keeping the house clean and watching after his daughter, Alice. Playing as Kara seems straightforward until her conscience awakens and you realize that Alice's living situation is not a safe one. Kara decides that Todd has become too out of control and flees the home with Alice. It is at this point that Kara realizes that she has to find a way to start a life and keep Alice safe.

Detroit: Become Human has things I liked and disliked about it. The things I liked were the in-game choices, the story, and the acting. This game has many choices you can make throughout the story that will have different effects on each character. Someone disliking you or you making a choice that ends your characters life are a few examples. These choices enhanced the story experience because you don't know what your choices will have an effect on at that moment and sometimes you get surprised later down the road. These choices are also delivered by some great actors who gave great performances. Most of the time I found myself being moved by the characters words and emotions. That is why I enjoy Detroit: Become Human's story so much.

Some things I did not like were the controls and some of the dialogue responses. There were times when I would find my character getting stuck on the smallest object and have trouble when trying to do small turnarounds. Another control issue was when trying to complete half circles. When trying to do them, they would register sometimes but seemed to have an issue of you tried to do them too fast. Luckily this was not too much of an issue because half circles did not come up during quick time events. Even though the acting is great in this game, there were some times when the dialogue seemed too scripted. A couple of times I can remember are from the beginning of the game. When Connor tells Daniel he is not lying and when Emma denies Daniel's accusation. These dialogue responses were too different from what was going on that it took me out of the moment. Despite these two issues it did not ruin the game for me.

Detroit: Become Human is a great game to play if you are looking for a customizable story with multiple endings and playstyles. Although I did run across some issues, I was able to play through it because they were not too hindering. Overall, I liked the game and will continue playing until I get all flowchart options unlocked. I recommend picking up the game if you are looking for something enjoyable to play or if you are a fan of Quantic Dream games.

Gameplay is actually pretty fun and intense, with investigative detective work, stressful situations with time limits to deal with, and griping interrogation sessions in which saying the wrong thing can be the difference between life and death. I also liked that each choice you make impacts your relationships with other characters, opening or closing alternative paths and dialogue. A gorgeous, fun and smart ride. Expand

I really enjoyed the game. It's not perfect in story, but I had a lot of empathy and I enjoyed playing it. The graphics were great, and the actors ' acting was great.

Detroit: Become Human DBH is a neo-noir thriller set in the near-future city of Detroit. A masterful piece of art with a deep and very moving story. I love how deep it is, it's mindblowing how many outcomes you can get based on your choices. The characters are very well developed and with a great storyline. The environments are full of life, the best ones I have seen in a while.

Super tight art-direction, everything felt very cohesive and well belonging, from the clothing to the sets, from the lighting to the overall mood. The graphics are amazing.
The soundtrack is a masterpiece in its own. In my opinion, the best game soundtrack ever made for a game, it's just perfect. Do yourself a game and buy this game. Amazing,

    There is no dramatic battle.
But stories, background music, character settings, acting, directing, and World outlook are perfect.
This is the most impressive game I've ever played.

Loved it! I know that it's a "cliche" concept, but I believe Detroit: Become Human perfected the android trope.

Detroit: Become Human is yet ANOTHER masterpiece from the studio. It’s harsh and emotional, powerful, impactful, unforgiving, strangely topical, beautiful, sweeping and yet somehow achingly personal.... I’ll have to play through a few more times to see if it truly rivals HEAVY RAIN as the jewel in their crown, but my gut feeling right now says yes. The narrative is truly anchored in its three main performances , but is boosted further by powerful secondary leads as well. The graphics are as beautiful as anything I’ve ever seen, especially on the PS4Pro. The score is moving and fitting. The cinematography is gorgeous and absolutely makes up for the lack of camera control by the player. These games have always (purposely) blurred the line between “film” & “game”. This is no different. Do not go in expecting that. If you think this sounds interesting, give it a shot. I promise you’ll be as taken by the narrative and delivery as I was for over 10 hours. RA9 will save us. Expand

This is honestly one of the best games I have ever played. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and have already replayed it twice. Choices really impact the story. The acting is incredible and I loved all three characters (although Kara was my favorite). I could not recommend this game more.

Easily one of the best “interactive movie” games out there. Blows Telltale games and hell even dare I say Until Dawn out of the waters. Easily one of the best in the genre.

This is a rather fantastic game. Quickly made it into my all-time top three or four favorite games. I couldn't put it down, and after finishing it once, I'm eager to start over and try everything different. I think it is an incredible story that moves the player in ways many games don't.

The year is 2038, Detroit. CYBERLIFE, the world's largest manufacturer of androids, has changed people's lives forever. Androids take care of the physically exhausting and repetitive jobs. Androids take care of the physically exhausting and repetitive jobs. They are reliable, don‘t know any pain, don‘t have to eat or sleep and listen to every command. A perfect human one could say. But mankind‘s greatest technological achievement since the Internet also shows its downsides. Furthermore, we will ask ourselves, what makes us different from a machine? What makes us human?

The prologue itself is thrilling. Connor, the most sophisticated android model, is called in by the local police. As a player you find yourself on a hostage taking. Are you looking for clues to understand how it could have come so far or are you going outside and improvise? It is up to you. Everything in the game has a consequence.

Connor is not our only character. In the role of Kara, household robot of a failed and mostly unpredictable father, it is not only to ensure that the house is in good shape but also to look after Alice, a young girl. Because even here there is a potential for conflict and the two experience a captivating and emotional story.

The third character is Markus. He is the android of a famous and rich artist, who lives already physically exhausted in his estate. Markus does daily chores and cares for the well-being of his master. But the familiar life of Markus changes after a short time forever.

Spiked with all sorts of surprises, great written major and minor characters and polished dialogues DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN manages to let the player participate. Great camera work, beautiful and varied locations and a coherent soundtrack, for which each character got its own composer, remain in player’s memory.

Game mechanic is familiar to connoisseurs of previous Quantic Dream titles. Context-sensitive, you move through the area with the left analog stick and mimic symbols that appear with the right analog stick and pressing action buttons for different dialogue options. This has effects on the relationship with other people and the reputation of androids in public as well.

At the end of each chapter you can see a flowchart listing the actions of the player. Chapters can start and end quite differently, can be longer or shorter, in the worst or best case even not be seen. DETROIT follows Heavy Rain's approach and takes it to the next level.
Found "paths" are also rewarded with points. These can be redeemed in the extras menu to view artworks, making-of-videos and more.

Almost lifelike-looking character models make it possible that thoughts and feelings of a protagonist can literally be read from the skin pore. You can experience it in dynamic 4K and fantastic HDR. There is also a very harmonious and realistic lighting in play. Additionally, the game runs almost always constantly with 30 frames per second. On the other hand, there is an often-used depth of field and motion blur effect which reduce the overall image quality and sharpness but it gives a nice touch to the cinematic look. An extra compliment I have to send out is for the graphical user interface. It looks sleek and is helpful.

In terms of sound design there are also only positive things to report. Effects are powerful and precisely mixed. It results in a magnificent surround sound that combined with the soundtrack captivates you. For a cinematic game the quality of voice actors is extremely important and the characters are professionally voice acted. Finally, it should be mentioned that there are no loading screens, so the pleasure is never tarnished by waiting times. Crashes and other bugs I have never noticed (as of version 1.02).

The game isn‘t free of design flaws. There is a freely rotatable and sometimes it is possible that you rotate the camera and at the same time you move the camera away from a displayed interaction symbol because the displayed movement. Furthermore, I noticed in two places that a spoken dialogue or monologue suddenly stopped because I wanted to perform a movement like looking at an object. Often this is not the case but it did happen and required loading the last checkpoint of my save file. In addition, the last three hours of the game were told fairly quickly. Thus, the thought came "Why am I exactly here?".

DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN is a milestone. Its interactive soul is outstanding. You are actively involved and have to make decisions in this virtual reality for which you do not have endless time. Everything has a consequence. DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN not only shows us what a life with androids can look like. It asks us: What makes us human? The answer becomes apparently in over 10 hours of great interactive entertainment. I am very proud of this experience from hundreds of talented and creative artists.

It was perfect from start to finish. Direction was phenomenal, performances were top notch, pacing and narrative were beyond (two souls) anything else currently on the market. The choices were consequential and heavy. I often had to stop playing to catch myself and reconsider whether I had made the right decision. Needless to say there is no "right decision" Every choice you make advances the story forward in a meaningful way. It truly is a narrative that adapts to the choices you make and forces you to consider what it means to be human. I found myself questioning assumptions I didn't know I had only to be put in a position that showed me why I had a reason to have those assumptions in the first place.

In every way this game is a masterpiece of technology, story, performance, graphics and narrative. A 10/10 for any gamer that appreciates a game with mature choices and real consequences.

    And yes, I wept. Severally.

Best $70 I've ever spent (deluxe edition). This game is a gem; even better than previous titles from Quantic Dream (which is something really hard to achieve). I heavily recommend it if you like story driven games; However, if you are just a casual player, this game might not be for you, play the demo first

Detroit: Become Human delivers a story with a ton of possible choices, and a lot of questions for a player to bear afterward. If you like it when games make you think about them after you play them, this is the game for you. Stunning visuals and music score, make you forget about some weaker points of the game. But all in all, it is an enjoyable experience you should not miss.

Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
