I was so into the game at the start it was awesome... I am a PvE gamer and it seemed like this was a game that had both.. I bought the expansion, and poof the game gets Nerfed ... The drops suck, the Turn of Helium that was helping my character gain in points all gone. Now the expansion is useless to me ... I feel that it is the biggest let down of the year.

There was so much potential here, but the shallow depth is grimaced by skinner box type mechanics. It's fun but not great and would expect more from a tripe a realse.

Not here for the story but instead the awesome gameplay and beautiful world. The game just does so much right.

Meanwhile Destiny is fantastic in some aspects, the gameplays is precise and has it's own identity, so you'll not play "Call of Duty" or "Battlefield" game only with a "different skin", you'll play Destiny with it's own identity, the gameplay is fluid to, the physics are great, even when you jump, as it was in Halo, you have the gravity influence that transmits the feeling of the space, which is great to. The graphics are true next-gen, so gorgeous and so well made that combines perfectly with a well made level design.

Conclusion: Maybe Destiny (as a lot of other games) couldn't reach the level that it was promessing, that's why we see bunch of negative reviews, but it stills a fun and great RPG.

It's a game for people who never heard about MMO games. If you rate it as MMO(rpg/fps), its 0 of 10. 4 dungeons, 4 small narrow zones, you will never see more then 15 people in one place. There is no communication between people (no chat or voice-chat, only among your PSN friends). So,

So, its mostly single, solo MMO (how the hell?). Amount of content available is for 20h really slow-paced gameplay.

Hype, hype, more hype, TOO MUCH HYPE! This seems to be a more common theme among games these days. E3 comes along, critics, journalists and gamers around the world go mad about what little content they have been shown of these games and proclaim "future game of the year", "best game at the show" etc etc. Then, when the game finally hits the stores and everyone has had some time playing it,Hype, hype, more hype, TOO MUCH HYPE! This seems to be a more common theme among games these days. E3 comes along, critics, journalists and gamers around the world go mad about what little content they have been shown of these games and proclaim "future game of the year", "best game at the show" etc etc. Then, when the game finally hits the stores and everyone has had some time playing it, they wonder what the fuss was about, myself included.

Now it might seem like I am being overly cynical about Destiny, but I was one of the previously mentioned gamers who bought into the hype and could not wait for this game to come out. September seemed like it was never going to come. My first few hours with Destiny were good. The worlds are excellently crafted, there has obviously been a lot of time and effort that has been put into making each planet feel unique and the graphics in general are wonderful. The lighting is a true highlight, while each environment is extremely colourful and pretty to look at. The high quality of design carries over to the gear and weapons. While there may not be that many unique models, everything is futuristic and appealing. The planets themselves, however, feel empty. There is no real reason to explore the environments bar the few loot chests scattered around which, if you ask me, usually aren't worth your time. You seem to travel all around these gorgeous worlds with not a lot to do until you hit the next pack of enemies. A lot of the time when playing this game I would think to myself, "Where did the $300m actually go?". Destiny does not feel like the most expensive game of all time, when in fact it is.

The missions are good to begin with, but within a few hours you realise, "I'm doing the same stuff again and again just in different places". Destiny can become extremely repetitive extremely quickly. The story is completely meaningless and not interesting at all, so it's not as if you are just hoping to finally get somewhere and for the grind to have meant something, because sadly it does not. If you don't mind doing the same **** but on different days in order to get the best loot then you will not have an issue, but I require that something extra, that reason to carry on, I want a game to make me relish turning on my PS4 to play it, and I'm not sure Destiny will have that appeal in the long run.

The main selling point of Destiny is its combat. It is superb. Enemies are intelligent, they search actively for cover, they make you move around the map to try and get at them, and in a lot of instances they can be quite tough. You have to be careful when going for an attack, you can't just charge in like a bull in a china shop, there is some strategy to planning your next move. It is also very fast paced so you need to be on your toes when engaging the enemy. The enemies themselves are well thought out, they each have their own weak point and have various sizes and degrees of toughness about them. After level 15 you will have seen it all to be honest. Boss battles are a bit of a let down. They are simply just bullet sponges who take a massive, almost exhausting amount of time to kill and usually the loot isn't really worth it (until you can do the raids at high level that is).

I haven't spent enough time on the PvP to give a fair critique about it, but so far it seemed pretty fun, if a little unbalanced.

Overall, I think it is unfair to say that Destiny is a bad game, because it isn't. It's just not as good as we all hoped. There is room for improvement (Peter Dinklage could at least pretend to be interested if he is voice-acting in the next one) and I believe that Destiny 2 could be fantastic. Lets just all try not to hype it up too much OK?

Ignore the hype, forget about a riveting narrative & as long as you don't mind a good FPS that is always online & have some buddies to kick it with (Bungie have also made it as easy as possible to make new friends, a new friend is only a few clicks away) it is definitely a game worth getting. Both of the previously mentioned games have been built on at least a decade or more of titles and have only added more to an already existing formula. Destiny needs time to work on its universe and lore before it can become the game that people expected it to be. Everyone wanted this massive MMO with a rich storyline, stunning visuals, immersive combat, and every other element of every other great game ever created. Bungie did market Destiny to have all of those things, and I wholeheartedly agree that the theme of this page is "lacking", but give Bungie a break. They may not have given us the game that we all expected, but what they did give us was a game we could sit down and play for a few minutes, or a few hours while still feeling fulfilled. Although the game was pitched and hyped very well, I find the content reminiscent of some Korean MMOs. In fact, the lack of story content is very disappointing. The FPS component of the game and the PvP portions of the game are what prop it up. The amount of the content on release is just poor and the game outside of PvP is grindy and RNG based.

First of all - it is not an MMO. 3 player missions and 6 player pvp and one single 6 person raid with no matchmaking is not Massive Multiplayer. Clans are pointless - theres no in game integration such as seeing a clan roster, adding/booting/promoting members, having a clan dojo, etc.

Theres no singleplayer - all raids force you into a team of two randoms and theres no proximity chat , and multiplayer "public" areas are populated with only 2 or 3 scrubs at a time. Public events are a joke and you will solo them in 30 seconds flat. The story is confusing and pointless. You never fight any darkness, only space zombies and robots. The final boss is floating black diarrhea and feels out of place. The raid is complete bullshlt and a waste of a good 20 hours. Rather than punish you for messing up like Dark Souls, it just punishes you for playing.

PVP is a waste since theres no ranking, no ranked matches, and no hardcore mode without supers and perks. Theres actually only 2 modes - killing and control a circle while killing. No flag, no oddball, no bomb, no objective. And when you win you get nothing, yet kids that AFK or suck get exotics. The loot system is broken and will drive you mad.

The formula for Destiny is 75% farming a cave, and 25% watching loadscreens. I wish I could get my money back but I bought Digital. -10 out of 10

Because of the way it does that, I don't find myself compelled to complete the story missions or listen to Dinklage's stale voice acting (nice save by processing his voice so it sounded robotic, though). I'm level 20 and still have to do a level 6 story mission… On the moon.

The feel of the game is quite strong and the controls respond quite well.

PVP is well balanced, which Bungie has always done well with. The only issue is the player limit, especially in the larger maps. Also, only allowing three people in a lobby is a poor decision imo.

PVE is stale for the most part as the AI, in my opinion, is worse than in Halo. Because of that, they rely on giving enemies such as bosses a lot of Health to add to the difficulty. Which can get a tad boring. The quests are downgraded WOW quests – and everyone is over those.
The one thing it achieves in PVE is the sense of drama when you are fighting off hordes with your friends in Strike mode.
So yeah, I guess the game gets boring by yourself, but sometimes I like playing solo as I like to breathe in the atmosphere and environments.
With friends (that have mics) it's extremely fun to play.

Overall weapon selection and appearance is bland with no real variety. So when you finally get that legendary, high powered weapon you don’t have that thought of “wow, this looks so badass”.
The ships that we can buy don't really offer anything to the game. They serve as your online avatar but not as much as your character.

Character creation is very limited, better looking models compared to Skyrim and Mass Effect but not as in-depth as them. Also, you never get to see the high quality face model of your character after the creation screen, and the in game model looks very downgraded.

The loading screens are moderate. They are mostly hidden by your ship flying to the location, but sometimes it can be stuck in a certain scene for way too long. It would have been great for them to expand on the orbit area, where it would serve as another Hub for people to travel through and meet up with other ships/players, then head to the destination (with the massive budget that the developer had I thought this would have been achievable).

    Conclusion
    :
It’s not the best game this year will offer, but it’s not the worst. With the budget in mind, it’s a bit disappointing that all they could offer was a 5 – 6 hour campaign with no real story (as I have heard) and relying on DLC to expand on it doesn't impress me. It seems like they spent most of it on marketing, balancing PVP and bugs. Which is great for quality assurance but all areas should be looked at.
Still pretty fun with friends and that's what counts.

The multiplayer is fun at times, but quickly becomes repetitive, with no option to choose which map you want to play on which is annoying. Some of the classes are hugely OP too, with people spamming class abilities for kills.

Angry halo fan boys getting themselves too hyped for this game then when it doesn't deliver they get butt-hurt and give it a 0 out of 10 while not explaining why. That being said yes, Destiny is a disappointment to the hype that was built around it, Obviously. But the thing is it's not THAT bad. Destiny offers a good amount of hours of entertainment. At least until level 20. The story is bland and uninteresting at best. Nothing is explained and you will often find yourself going "what the hell is happening?" throughout the story missions. Your character is given no motive to do anything he does and doesn't even really comment on anything going on around him despite being dead for who knows how long. The game-play is solid. Nothing special but done right. There are 3 classes to choose from. All three are very very similar with only slight differences in them. They all play the same except for the 3 main different ability's. Besides that it's all really based on what you want your character to look like. Do you want a robe for a warlock or a cape for a hunter. Maybe even some cool space armor for the titan. The games missions are really lazy. Almost every single mission you will play will require you to defend your ghost against a certain amount of waves of enemies. Usually 3. This does get tired some late game and you would just wish for a mission where you do stuff instead of standing there defending for the entire game. Strikes are fun even though there the same as normal missions but offer more of a challenge. But late game they will get repetitive as you must do the same strikes over and over to progress after 20. A lot of the game feels like content was taken out just to add it in for expansions later. I don't know if that is true but if it is i would not be surprised if it was activation that did that. Replay value dies when you hit level 20 because that point you have to just replay missions and strikes which all play the same. Just defend your ghost. I was very surprised when i found out that i just beat the game at the end. I was expecting more than 3 enemy factions and more planets to explore. The final boss and level is completely disappointing that you might not even know that it was the final level in the story. That sucks. During my play-through of the game i did find myself having fun while playing with my friends. I love the seamless co-op and random interactions with other players in the game. The graphics look good but i would have loved to see them if they were not held back by the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PVP is really fun and is the only thing that will really keep you playing the game after 20. I went into this game with low expectations. I refused to give into the crazy hype of this game and didn't really follow it at all. I bought it with a friend to try it out thinking it was just another Halo. To my surprise i had more fun than i thought i would have and got some good hours of game-play out of it. Yes its disappointing in a lot of areas and gets super repetitive real fast. It's just sooooo disappointing. It's very hard to like it. With one of the biggest budgets ever it's a huge eff you to people. Everyone that is saying it's a super polished game and a satisfying experience is a flat out lie. Were they paid to spread that?

Destiny is a game with so much potential, yet it falls well short of the latest gen's "killer app".

Starting with the positives, of which there are quite a few:

MUSIC - The shining achievement of this game, the music that plays during fight sequences is EPIC. It sets the tone well, and is reminiscent of both HL (in terms of timing) and Halo (grand scale). For this game, they could not have done better here.

CORE GAMEPLAY - Bungie borrowed quite a bit of the feel of Halo, but the gunplay and fighting is excellent for a console shooter. Added elements such as jumping and supers add another dynamic to the combat, and all of this forms a rock-solid foundation to Destiny.

ART DIRECTION - The visuals and vistas are stunning, and go a long way to showcase the PS4's graphical ability. Destiny is a beautiful game to look at. Take a look around when you explore areas like the moon and you'll see great attention to detail: looking back at the Earth shows that it is rotating slowly, the International Space Station is able to be seen in the sky above, and it simply LOOKS like the moon.

NETWORK STABILITY - I feel that I should mention this because Destiny is a server-side game. Since launch, I have had almost ZERO problems with lag or downtime due to server volume. For a game that moved as many copies on day 1 that Destiny did, Bungie has done a terrific job at keeping things running smoothly. Other games (looking at you Diablo 3) can only dream of such a smooth launch day/week.

CLASSES - I've played all 3, and each have there own distinct feel and style. The balance between the classes in multiplayer is great: a Titan can do just as well as a Bladedancer Hunter in the Crucible. Each class has a subclass (for a total of 6 subclasses/skill trees), and I've enjoyed all of them.

By now, most of the gaming public knows what went into the development of this game. Massive hype, a developer with a sterling reputation, and a half-a-billion dollar budget. What was released though fell FAR short of what was promised...

STORY - There is almost no story to Destiny. You get revived by Dinkleberry, handed a gun, and told to fight the "darkness" because they are bad and they destroyed Earth. That is the extent of the Destiny story there and I'm not leaving much out. Characters will literally tell you that there were "massive battles and dark times" and then they'll go on to say "they don't have time to explain those things to you". Bear in mind that you could complete the entire story in a day or less, there was plenty of time to explain everything (or anything) to the player.

MISSION DESIGN - Here is every story mission in Destiny: go to this checkpoint, scan something, kill things, repeat that a few times, end mission. Every Strike mission (the dungeons of Destiny) is equally the same with no tactics to the bosses other than shoot-run-shoot-run. All bosses are basically bullet sponges...the only thing that changes with difficulty is how absorbent the sponge is.

POOR LOOT DESIGN - The Cyptarch is the faction in the tower that identifies items for you...but that ID process is completely governed by RNG. I have identified over TWENTY (yes, I'm counting) purple engrams, and from that I have gotten one Exotic item and the rest of them have been blues. At the end of the Strikes, the bosses don't drop loot. You instead have to wait until an "after mission report" where you will usually get just one item that will be well below the level of the strike. It is more efficient to shoot enemies that respawn in a cave on Earth than any other method in the game.

SCOPE - Simply put, this game feels small and compact. The main hub has just three small areas, and you won't see more than 10-20 other players around at one time. Exploration by doing the Patrol missions further highlights just how small this game feels compared to other MMO's...or just other shooters like this game (Borderlands). As mentioned above, the game looks phenomenal, but it's not very big and there is almost no incentive to explore any of it.

DLC-CENTRIC: Activision has done it again: they've taken a franchise with such promise and ruined it. Take a look at the E3 videos and videos during the development of this game. You'll see story. You'll see diverse mission structure. You'll see players talking to each other in-game. This game was gutted and re-structured to sell us DLC, which is something we've seen from DAY ONE. There's already some 20 or 30something dollar expansion "coming soon". Give us a full game.

I have a tough time giving such a poor review, because at it's core this game has such great potential. With patching, so many of these issues could be fixed...but I just have this feeling that we're going to have to pay via DLC for the game Destiny should have been.

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
