A must buy for 15 € ... There is absolutely nothing special in this game. Regular graphics, regular gameplay with nothing new, regular bosses.

VERY REPETITIVE AND NO ENOUGH CONTENT ( weapons, misions, skins, classes, interesting unlocks...) TO KEEP YOU IN THE MOVE.

This game is overrated. I don't like fps very much but i think that this one is a complete failure. Same approach, same kind of enemy, history terrible and boring gameplay. The games has been developed to be a rpg/fps game but it seems to be doing bad both the things. I'll never spend again for a game that has been overhyped by marketing strategy and advertisements. Fail.

The Beta and Alpha promised a lot, the released version just feels like a furtherance of the beta. I am not bothered about the story either, however the "events" are just the same missions renamed, and then if you do get something for doing said special "event" you get an item about 14 levels lower than you.

I am not going to make the comparison between this and borderlands, I enjoyed borderlands. The game felt great for a while, until the dawning realisation that "this was it", once you have done that mission, you will be made to do it over and over again, for very little reward.

I am gutted, this could have been so much better. I firmly believe that Bungle, I mean Bungie prostituted this game to Activision and they chopped up what would have been a great game with a wonderful narrative.

I will also add that those of you who have heard of the loot cave, this got patched very quickly, however other concerns that the community have are being ignored. The loot cave was the most social part of Destiny, then they broke it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overhyped game that looks great, but in the end has no appeal to anyone for what it is. Is it an MMO? With such a dynamic combat system that is more Halo and COD than a strategical shoot and cover system like Battlefield or MOH, this game is too fast paced to need much in strategy when jumping like a fairy all over the place throwing bullets and grenades is enough to get through most situations, and the PvP is mostly broken with the matchmaking system bringing all types together and allowing their one hit wonders of a weapon to sweep boards for what can only be fairly called a rape or good ol' fashioned turkey shoot. So then is it a FPS? For the first 4 hours, maybe. It's actually pretty fun running around and shooting different enemies with different weak points and ranking up for the first bit of the game, but with a story that is mostly just hashed together with little to nothing explained, you finish the story wandering what the **** you're supposed to do now? Well just like the story line, the simple, but kinda off beat inner workings of the game are never explained. I had to refer to the internet every time I played to figure out what I was supposed to do or could do and how I was supposed to do it (should have bought that strategy guide, eh Prima?) So aside from the loose story which isn't really all that important and the lack of explanation for well, most of the gameplay outside of gameplay, this game still sucks as a FPS, and here is why: PvP boughts are rough, glitchy, and generally unrewarding, and unless you enjoy burning through the same campaign line over and over and over, at least the same handful of levels 4-5 times a week, then there is nothing here for you shooter fans either. It's too dumbed down and fast paced for a traditional MMO player, and it's too slow paced and unrewarding/unfulfilling for your regular shooter. If this is the future of gaming, then I'll hang my hat up now, because this game sucks, and I'm kinda pissed it took me two weeks to see I was wasting my time with what I thought would be an interesting shooter RPG like Mass Effect or Borderlands built on the idea of MMO sandbox. I was half right, it's an MMO built solely on Halo mechanics and an intriguing story line that is never explained, just told from somewhere in the middle. And SPOILER ALERT: If you're interested in the sandbox concept of this game imagine four levels that are big beautifully landscaped racetracks that span for something similar to half an island on GTA IV I suppose, with waves of respawning enemy packs and a couple missions in each area (4 types) that either are headhunting missions or run across the map (no timers mind you) and stand in a spot for a couple seconds. Pretty lame. Save your money kids, this one is a lemon sold by the loudest magazines and reviewers. Expand

So after seeing other reviews online I can safely say, most reviewers are being WAY to harsh on this game, I've seen everything from 1/10 to 10/10 so it's hard to tell where the community sits on the subject. But for me personal I can say I'm enjoying it a lot, I've had lots of time to play the game and find all the good and bad. First off this is a very nice looking game, just don't look up close at the textures. The vistas and landscape is where it really shows the lighting and shadows. The game-play is very comparable to Borderlands , It gives you a some what open world to explore and grind over and over for those legendary pieces of gear. Just like Borderlands this game is best played with friends, You can go without but you will free like you are missing out. Destiny gives you a fair amount of missions to complete and repeat over and over, as well as strike missions witch will end in a boss and almost always give you some kind of gear. By the end of the game you are left to basically repeat story/strike missions to complete bounties and hopefully have some kind of super cool gear drop. There is also the crucible (Player Vs Player) that you can play from the just about the start of the game, But is definitely best played at level 20+. Bungie recently released there first raid mission as well called "Vault Of Glass" and with all those things to complete once you hit max level it leaves with with a fair amount to stuff to do. But once you have played the missions to death, are tired of the Crucible and can't get a raid group together you are kind of bored of it all. It's not the feeling you want , luckily Bungie is adding new DLC and Events to keep people playing.
If you are a fan of Borderlands/Diablo or even Halo you will enjoy this game to some extent, but this game is definitely not for everyone and won't be enjoyed by anyone who hates grinding for gear or halo type multiplayer.

If you have somewhat realistic expectations you will see that Bungie has done something truly amazing with destiny. They have also laid a very solid foundation to expand and improve the game. For anyone debating on buying due to bad reviews, In my honest opinion, this game is 100% worth it.

Terribly bland rinse and repeat missions, dumb enemies that take little skill to figure out how to defeat. The story? What story? Unbelievable how little they do to get you feeling emotionally invested in the game. If I don't even know for what/why I am fighting - then why do I care? The loot stinks, gun variety is lame. The Crucible/PVP is awful - one shot kills by everyone, dead feeling maps, uneven equipment (yes I know it's leveled but there are still advantages...).Grind grind grind. Patrol missions? The most God awful boringness imaginable.
OK. There's some of my gripes. There are a few positives. The actual game mechanics are pretty smooth, nice FPS - although I feel it's worse in the crucible - could be wrong. The graphics are nice, music is good. There is SOME fun to be had - I've enjoyed strikes to an extent. Certainly not enough fun to pay $60 + DLC costs though.
In reality, this game is probably closer to a 6 or a 6.5 / 10 than the 3 I am giving it. HOWEVER, I feel like Bungie/Activision has planted multiple fake users on Metacritic that are giving this game 9s and 10s so I am trying to level that out. Many positive reviews look canned and not from the heart - I don't believe they are real people with their real opinion. GRANTED, this is just MY opinion, but look at all the 9s and 10s - something is fishy... And the game is not a 10/10. It's just not. Regardless of whether you have fun playing it. This game is a cash grab, and I feel kind of ashamed that I fell for it...

At times, the game borders on outright agony due to the way the loot system is set up. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was extremely excited for this game to come out. I liked the concept of Borderlands, the Loot Crawler meets FPS, but this was more up my alley. Scrap the jokes and cartoony cell shading and put in a gritty story and landscapes that can't help but make you think you're about to embark on a journey the likes of Fire Fly or even Star Wars that came before it.

What I got was close, but no cigar. When I first picked up the beta I knew there was going to be a problem. It begins with your character being brought back from the dead...which may make sense in terms of the Exo beings or maybe even an Awoken, but a regular human being brought back to life after hundreds of years? You must be able to suspend belief In sci fi and fantasy fiction to begin with, but this concept needed way more explanation than what was provided. I was hoping they would change this up on release, but no luck.

Besides other gaping holes in stories plot, the games story and strike mode options become super repetitive. Stand in this place, defend the position from waves of minions, rinse, wash and repeat until you meet the final boss, who's difficulty level only differs on how much HP it has.

But if you take the time to switch between Crucible matches, Vanguard bounties, hunting for resources and raiding there is still plenty of diversity and content to be found.

Games today seem to have gone with the concept of player created content, that you essentially are the story and what you do within the game creates the story. The developer is only providing the blocks for you to put together. But we need something to care about in order to make that spark happen, the game isn't open enough to not have some hand holding in regards to story concept and we all know that Bungie is capable of providing that.

An overall fun experience, especially if you have friends to make the journey with. I would recommend this to buy, but I hope that Bungie is listening to feedback and will be providing a more completed experience in the future with added content.

    - half assed story - these are the people who developed the Halo universe, which is pretty rich. But apparently they invested no more than a total of $10 into a decent story. Any teenager with a laptop can do better than this - they didn't even try. No answers or info is really given in the game, and 99% of the background info is not in-game but in the 'grimoire cards' on their website. WTF? Imagine if Mass Effect had had zero info on the Turians, Asari, Hanar, or any other species and just had a generic enemy called the 'Darkness'. That would be Destiny's story.
    - sucky endgame. After beating the story, what is there to do? The same 5 or 6 strikes over and over and over and over, and over and over again? Talk about boring. Then there are these big, bad 'raids'. Sounds cool right? Finally can play with a part of more than 3 people (seriously, Borderlands managed 4 person teams last gen for god's sake). But wait! No matchmaking! So if you do not have 6 friends with this game on at the same time, there's no playing the raids - which makes them entirely useless.
    - unbalanced multiplayer. Wow is the multiplayer disappointing. None of the maps really seem all that different from each other. Guardian abilities badly unbalance the gameplay and vehicles have no counter measures (unlike in Halo). As soon as Halo MCC hits in November, no way I'd ever consider going back to Destiny's multiplayer.

Overall, very disappointing. At least Bungie taught me a lesson - *never* buy the $100 special edition of the first game in a new franchise. I cannot believe I spent that much on a game that I got less than 10 hours of gameplay in. Ugh

Not exactly a lot of story of dialogue to it either. I think it gets it just at the right amount- enough to make people wanting more. The story is interesting and while I wish some things were explained better, I remembered that for Halo I referred to online sources in order to fill in the gaps. It was a very rich story, and I doubt Destiny is any different.
I was HUGELY disappointed in the level variety. There are different missions but it all takes place on the same maps. You follow the same path- you just "go a little further next time". I thought they learned their lesson from the Halo 1 days where they recycled quite a few levels that were unimaginative.
But let's look at the broken parts with this game. The campaign took me about 7.5 hours to play it all. This includes all side quests. It took me another 5 hours to level up through multiplayer mode so I could actually advance in the story (it's very hard if you don't). Therein lies the biggest problem with this game: Bungie is forcing you to play, not letting you choose what to play.
The theme ripples throughout the game: engrams, which contain "encrypted" items, has a really bad chance at actually giving you the color you want. Out of the 15 or so legendary engrams I got, only 1 actually had a legendary armor for my class, the other was a cloak for another class.. The exotic engram I bought gave me a piece of armor .... for a different class. Supposedly Bungie is going to make it so that you are guaranteed AT LEAST getting an item of the same color. So purples will yield legendary items or better. What good is it to get something that isn't even for your class? We will see about that..
So what do you do if you want better gear? You play co-op or multiplayer. Endlessly. Proponents of this system claim that every complainer is "lazy"; but I disagree. I don't want to spend countless hours grinding away at levels just to get an engram that might not even give me the item I want to unlock other parts of the game. Bungie better start increasing the item drops, that's the only way they're going to kill farming.
In traditional unlock system- you spend time leveling up and then you get to access another area. Bungie is leaving it all to chance. If you have everyone playing this game spend 100 hours on it, on just 1 character, some will have a higher completion rate than others.
I didn't spend $60 just to buy a game that unlocks portions on chance over time. That really ticks me off. On top of that they have the audacity to announce their DLC plan- $30 for 2 DLC drops. No thanks. This game is not fun if the mechanics are broken. Bungie is right, after 20 hours in it becomes a different game. A terrible game. It was fun at first, until I hit level 20, then it becomes monotonous.

Yet the finished product doesn't feel finished, as though Bungie carefully implementing graphics and exotic character designs and rushed the other half by taking the combat and story out of literally any Halo of Call of Duty game and try to sell it as a "re-definition" of gaming. Its a shame really, because on its own merits, Destiny is actually kind of boring sometimes. You start the game off being revived by some sort of guide known only as a "Ghost" and learn that our solar system is slowly being taken over by an unknown substance known only as "The Darkness." You also soon learn that the Guardians are humanity's last hope to push back the darkness and win. If your confused as to what the darkness is and why alien solders known as the "Fallen" are trying to take over, then you are not alone. The game expects you to understand why all of this is happening, and also praises you, the player, as some sort of saviour of the galaxy. Except we already know that's not true because there are about a million other people who have been told the same thing. As you level up you keep getting flooded with new upgrades and weapon and armour unlocks, which is cool until you realise there is nothing worth keeping in the previous level. Since the challenge increases and unlocks even more loot, there will always be something you worked hard to get that has to go to make way for better things. Perhaps the most interesting thing about destiny is much it doesn't define itself from the soulless and bland shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield, despite looking like a refurbished and prettier version of Halo. The story of Destiny is flat, but I'm guessing that's not a good thing to speculate on, since all MMO's aren't exactly famous for having the most exiting and deep stories in gaming.

Overall I feel Destiny will just be another one for the bargain bin, but so long as Bungie keep regular updates and exclusive content coming in, it may be a while before we see that happen.

What you'll be doing the whole game is simply going to a certain point, activate horde mode and occasionally, face boss fights. Rinse and repeat. Different planets, same structure, same enemies. Defeating bosses are time consuming, the bosses don't even change their strategies, and after defeating them, the rewards are disappointing. The game does little keep you interested and you'd probably be bored after 3-4 hours in. Don't fall for this. I've sold my copy. I'm so done!! Expand

I pray, I truly do, that the free updates that they release for this game are going to be worth the money I paid for the initial game, cause at the moment, this "game" is horrible. With friends this game is great. Get 3 friends together and run all missions up to Level 20 and beyond. It's great fun. Solo however, with no one you know having this game, it sucks.
Why? Why in an "MMO" do I

Why? Why in an "MMO" do I not have the option to matchmake for EVERYTHING?! If I want to do ANYTHING beyond Level 24, I have to go onto Forums asking for people to add me so I can add them to a Fireteam so that we can do anything beyond this point.
This game is so unfinished I have an armor shader called "18327496-64703388" instead of having a name! I do not expect to be playing a game and come across such glaring faults, that are so easy to fix that it's already in other parts of the game (you can matchmake for PVP and lower level strikes but for some reason they've taken it away here!!!).
Now, for the good stuff. The music is incredible! I want the soundtrack to this entire game now. It is gripping and adds such ambiance to the entire game that it might actually overshadow the game-play at times when you think "That's it?!" after beating a boss.
The art, oh my sweet lord, the art is amazing. I was with my friends in a Skype Call the first time I was on the Moon and as the level loaded we all fell silent in stunned admiration as we looked around.
This is about all that is good. As I said, with friends this game is quite enjoyable.
Alone however, you will find yourself raging and pushing yourself through the endless grind.
End game content is the EXACT SAME GRIND that you did to get to Level 20, just at a harder difficulty.
The true end game content at Level 26 when you get the raid, can't be accessed and is nigh on impossible unless you have 5 other friends with you who have also managed to reach this point in the fog that is the endless grind where I still don't see an end with a level 25 Titan and my Warlock and Hunter which I only play when my friends are on.
I'm sorry. I truly am to people who like me were expecting more. But if you don't have a group of friends who are willing to play this game with you, or you don't want to play with people you just met on a forum with teamspeak, I implore you, do NOT buy this game.
You will waste your money, you will waste your time and you will just lose more and more faith in game developers as you see more games release a game, but scrap half it's content so you can pay for it as DLC later.

This Game is the most boring game I have ever played. Actually it feels more like a demo than a full game. In over 20 Missions it's always the same plot: Go from A to B, kill three enemie waves, go further and kill the boss. The storyline is just stupid.

Ok it has a nice PvP Mode but with a real frustrating loot system that is completely random. I'm at level 22 right now and I will not

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
