Overall I think this game is really good! There's room for improvement, but this game has had me hooked since release. The coop is brilliant and the multiplayer is so addictive. Don't see why this games been down voted so much, I think it's brilliant

Very fun game, a lot of loot that you have to work for. but it is well worth it to trick out you Guardian. I hate how so many people bash the game it is very original with some of the good things taken from other games. Sure it was a bit over hyped but still well worth it.

Overall this I think Hybrid FPS/MMO approach works.I found The multiplayer / co-op worked Seamless.
To top it all off Halo-style combat what more could you ask for in a game.Bungie says they have a 10 year plan for this game count me in.

I created an account on this website just to defend this game from all the trolls.

    - Great Atmosphere
    - Refreshing
    - Amazing Gameplay
    - Good pvp/pve balance
    - Challenging end game
    - Lots of updates to come (yes for me this is positive)

only one problem, ingame communication. I would have put a 8/10 because of this.

Ive read some of the positives and negatives, not all obviously but enough to get an impression of why people are angry/disappointed with the game and giving it zeros. I do see their point of views and I don't intend to argue against that as that's been their experience with the game. I know what its like to be so hyped up over the release of something expecting it to be the greatest thing ever only for that very hype to lead to inevitably be and almost predictably disappointed.

I must say I never really bought into that hype or got excited about it. My excitement started with playing the beta. The beta drew me in and left me wanting more. The whole concept of the story and my role in it was awesome to me. The full release hasn't disappointed me either and with more play I'm getting more hooked on it. My only question mark was would I enjoy the multiplayer and so far to my surprise I have. The things people do not like about the multiplayer are actually the things I have liked about it so far. I like that there's no chat. In other games that puts me off playing it and I love the fast pace and small maps. The MMO and story side of things I also like. I get that its probably over simplified for some gamers but it hits the sweet spot for me. There's enough there to keep me interested without it being overwhelming and complicated. It is the MMO for console gamers, simple and accessible with controllable chat, which imo is a wise move. Perhaps they could have made it optional, say in the settings but reading their reasons for it I happen to agree with them on not including it. Again not taking away from others opinions I get that they feel let down and disappointed in this game, just my opinion and experience with the game has been different. I have not been so keen to play a game I own since forza 5, which was another game heavily criticised for things that I actually thought made it a more enjoyable game for me. This is refreshing as I was coming off the disappointment of titanfall and watchdogs. Anyway gaming and the games we enjoy is a personal thing and the reasons I really enjoy a game will vary from others reasons. The point being don't let others opinions put you off trying this or any other game as you may miss out on something you will really enjoy.

As for a rating I'm giving it a 10 because for me its the most enjoyable game I've played since forza5 and AC Black Flag. All these were games I looked forward to playing and for me thats the most important thing. That can't be said for Titanfall and Watchdogs. They were good games but just missing that something to excite and motivate me to want to play.

I'll explain. The bosses are tough but they're fair. They're bullet-soaks but that makes sense being you have 3 members in your squad fighting a single guy (albeit there are always other enemies lurking in the tunnels waiting to strike mostly at the most infuriating moments). But that's why it's so much fun!
Another aspect of Destiny that I'm thoroughly enjoying is the weapon and armor, collecting, progressing, and shading. The armor is primo-cool, and the weapons all handle differently, have a weight that you feel through the controller, and have a tactical nature as well (certain weapons fair better in certain circumstances).
The story is actually pretty great too, once you take the time to delve into the lore. Another dark-souls like attribute. Combined with the fantastic musical score and awe-inspiring environments (the backdrops are 'mwah'). There's oft a thunking sound in my room deriving from my jaw audibly hitting the floor.
I created an account just to write a review for this game and bequeath unto it the respect and fandom that it so earnestly and rightfully deserves. I repeat, go and buy this game now, it's worth every Lincoln.

Not ony is this the most visually impressive piece of work I've ever seen on a console (it finally feels like the next-gen is here), the gameplay is super smooth and tight. I don't think players realize that the different player classes all control slightly differently and come with different abilities, which makes this type of game incredbily refreshing. I have had no issues with framrate or playing online with my friends. I almost only use the hand cannon, sniper, and melee blade and have been having a blast! How can anyone complain about the boss battles being too long??? They require some intelligence and skill, but yes-they aren't over in a matter of a couple minutes. I think the real problem here, is that the fanboys of games like COD are really not doing so well with this type of game. I have several friends who are twitch fanatics with COD and clean up the maps. When playing them in this game however, I can smoke most of them. I believe that is where many of the lower scores are coming from. Sure there are one or two missions that get a little tedious, but there are more than enough things to do in this game (without the expansions) to keep one busy. And please! It's not like GTA V wasn't a little repititive. I just cannot fathom how this game can score less than a 9 unless those giving it lower scores are either jaded COD fanboys or they are critics that only spent 10 minutes playing it-which usually seems to be the case with uneducated reviewers. People are calling it "boring and repetitive like any other fps" - What? I suppose if you consider all other FPS's boring and repetitive then of course this one is too.

    Pros:
    Extremely tight controls/gameplay
    Absolutely beautiful on next-gen
    Fantastic sound track
So much polish, even the menus are something to marvel

    Cons:
    Not enough PvP mode variation
Lacks compelling social features for a game oriented toward longevity
Probably should come with first expansion or two for free due to some lack of endgame content

I had assumed that this games was an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online), however the lack of user created content proves this to be untrue.

My second major issue is the use of Peter Dinklage as the voice actor of your robotic companion. Not only is this an insult to those who suffer from dwarfism, but it is also an insult to anyone who happens to enjoy the show Game of Thrones, in which Mr. Dinklage plays a major role in as Tyrion Lannister. Are we to believe that Tyrion Lannister's voice is used for a robot in the future? Not to mention that Game of Thrones is not even set on Earth, so how could his voice be there? It does not make sense.

I am deeply disappointed with this game.

This game is not perfect, but neither is any other game... so why the perfect score?

I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Mass Effect (1). ME was the reason I got a 360, Destiny was the reason I got a PS4, and I have to say I am entirely thrilled with my choice and confident that Destiny will provide me more hours of satisifed entertainment than the ME trilogy... which is saying something.

I'm making these recommendations as someone who has finished the story line, broken above the soft level cap, and soaked considerable hours into most hours of Destiny... mostly PVE, with limited PVP, and no Raid yet as it's not yet available, come one level 25!

Here's why, if you're like me, you'll love Destiny:

    1) Great new world: Call it mythic sci-fi, call it space exploration call it a living world, call it whatever you like, bottom line it's an intriguing place to spend time, you're gonna wonder what's around the next corner, you're going to wonder what that spin-metal is for, you're going to want to come back and explore more.

    2) Fun to play: solid mechanics, the weapons feel different, things are balanced, fantastic music, great sound effects, diverse encounters / game types to experience with varying difficulty and/or player number requirements. Bungie marketers talk about something to do, catering to any mood, and from my solid days with the game, I agree!

    3) You actually play with your friends: lots of people dissed the social setup for this game but I dig it. I spend more time catching up with my gamer friends than I have in the years previous. This game is first for me from Raven Shield and Guild Wars 1 in terms of number of hours spent playing with friends. Because it's seamless, because you can jump in and out of activities and join up half way through, because the game play diversity means there's always some old buddies, who've tended to be just names in your PSN list, actually in world doing stuff... And you can join up with them and catch up and that's awesome!

    4) You're character follows you: yep more stuff from the marketing material. I put a bunch of hours into ME3 MP just to unlock the best end game scenario, but having it be an add on, separate character experience made it non-core, aka a chore. Building up your character getting Xp and gear and cash is going to be a little addictive. Your always building up your Guardian no matter your mood.

    5) End Game: there's some crazy challenging undertakings that are going to tempt you into, maxing out Guardian and gear and organizing a group to go take it on. You will get sick of admiring your fancy gear in the companion app and you're going to need to make something of it - either in a Raid or the Iron Banner or Daily or Weekly Challenge and the punishment will keep you coming back for more.

Don't believe the negative reviews - this game is everything I hoped it would be and more... that said... yes I'm looking happily forward to the December expansion.

I think some miss the scope of the game and that we will be getting more story missions and get to keep learning more. I am very excited about this plan and look forward to new missions. The bosses are a blast to fight and losing is just as much fun as winning. My friends and I really liked the challenge on Earth in the Devils Lair that took us 6-7 attempts to beat. We changed our weapons and strategy and tried again until we found that balance that took us to victory. The best part of Destiny is multiplayer PvP. I have played several matches and as I become more powerful these matches are increasingly much more fun. The game play is amazingly smooth and I am surprised by the lack of glitches and issues. I think in this age we expect to have a new game with problems and bugs that need to be fixed in the first few months. How refreshing is it to play Destiny that works almost flawlessly. I cannot express my surprise at how well Destiny is crafted. I did not have this preordered and after the Beta, it became a must have. Now to start properly. Destiny is the first game to come out on "next gen consoles" that I have actually had fun playing. Unlike Call of Duty it isn't a same old same old repetitive shooter, and unlike BF4 it isn't a buggy mess, and unlike all of the day one exclusive titles it isn't boring, empty and rushed. Destiny delivers almost flawless game play mechanics with a near to seamless open solar system experience. The gun play is fun, weight and rewarding. The movement and skills make you feel like a complete and utter badass without making you overpowered (believe me on that one, this game can get pretty damn hard at some points). The main story quests are "meh", however what many people writing the lower reviews based on story fail to realise, is that the game is open world for a reason. You aren't meant to just speed run the quests. You are meant to explore, to build an understanding of the world around you. To join other online players and fight the "fallen" and learn their story along the way. Strike missions offer a great experience rewarding teamwork as well as individual skill. Then there is the loot and RPG like elements that make the game feel more personal. You build your guardian from the ground up. Starting as a level 1 noob of planet earth, and then finishing at level 20. However the journey doesn't end at level 20, it kind of begins...but I won't give too much away.

    Summary:
    "Good"
    ____
Solid game-play experience, great lore, lots of missions, rewards skill and teamwork, fun, play it how you want, no bugs :D, takes the best bits from games such as Halo, Borderlands and Call of Duty and then adds more (Which isn't a bad thing, just because it bears similarities to other games doesn't mean it copied them. I'm actually enjoying it more than Borderlands and CoD...Not sure about Halo yet, but it is very very close).

    "Meh"
    ___
30fps (Yes this is the big one. Many PC elitists (you know the ones... "PC Master Race" and all) are focusing on this point. They say they can feel a difference which "damages game-play" and makes it "harder" to aim...but surely giving the game difficulty isn't bad. Gamers now days expect to have their hand held in modern FPS games, but Destiny says "NO". Use your brain, learn to aim. And in all honesty, coming from a 120fps gaming rig to my PS4, I can't really feel too much of a difference. There is also no visual damage. The game is beautiful.)

    "Bad"
    ___
Repetitive missions at the moment (the game is new and more missions are still being added), lack of text chat in the tower, currency which can be confusing at times.

Focusing on what was wrong with game early on, was a lot to do with my expectations of what kind of game it would be. Massive hype can have that effect, such I suppose is human nature.
The more I play it the more impressive it becomes, a vast alien landscape in which endless battles occur and non of my foes are humans. It's a utopia for war , where an obsession with guns can be innocent and fine.

Awesome game. I really love the Coop-Moments and the PVP. Everyone who likes games with an addictive gameplay and tones of loot will love this game, also. Give it a try and enjoy your time in the universe of Destiny.

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
