Gonna make this quick. Destiny is awesome. It's really really fun and I love the customization and weapons/powers. The PvP maps are great so far, though I wish there were more. The world does feel completely dead and desolate (it's supposed to?) and there is a fair bit of revisiting the same places. I wish this were MORE open world because I can see places I want to go, but can't get there.
I also love being able to run into players during my campaign. LOVE IT. So fun especially during hard missions. I'm having a ton of fun so far and will be playing this for a long time despite the nitpicks. Buy it, have fun and then sell it if you want, but you should play it.

In no way is this the game changer we hoped it would be but it still is a fun game. Game-play wise it's almost perfect each class has different edge to it so no one class is overpowered or the clear victor, it all depends on how you play. Playing with friends or playing against them is also really fun the PVP and strikes are fun to do with a group of friends or strangers it probably has one of the better examples of team dynamics of most games. From the games I've played I've never seen someone "carry" the team to victory. So in terms of mechanics and visuals it's solid. Now for story is were it falls flat. First off I never found the missions to be complete repeats of each other each one had a different reason in terms of story. Now some objectives were repeated at times like protect this or destroy this but if we fault this game for it then no game is innocent of this "crime". The lore has tons of potential to be a great story but it is poorly executed. While each of the enemy races were unique it terms of classes the lore behind them is never fully explained. Destiny is an example of quantity over quality each of the races are interesting to look at and appear to have interesting lore behind it but it's never fully realized. Why do the Hive and Fallen hate each other if they are both minions of the dark? How does the Cabal fit into any of this? Well we never get an answer Bungie went for a story line of throwing the player in the middle of the action to figure out what happened in the past to protect the future. A simple story-line that they used with Halo but they never bother to accurately explain the past. All we know is there's this thing called the Traveler and it's good but then there is this thing called the Darkness that wants to destroy the Traveler for reasons and in the end humanity got beat by the darkness leaving only one city, that's all we really get. Another thing that is done rather poorly is the execution of post max level once you beat the campaign and reach lvl 20 you have really two options. PVP or repeating strikes for the vanguard to get awesome armor while that might be fun for a time it does were down. Overall though this is very strange game to review because we know more stuff is coming. We know that more DLC is coming that will open up more locations and story missions that will hopefully better explain the lore. So I guess this is a vanilla review of the game that will absolutely change over time. In the end if you have friends and want just a fun game to play with and are willing to wait for change to come then absolutely pick it up but if you wait for more stuff to role in then your not missing much right now. I hope in the future Destiny becomes the game we hoped it would be. Expand

With that said, It's AMAZING!! I's been 10 days since release (UK) and i just haven't been able to stop thinking/playing/breathing/eating this extremely HIGHLY addictive game! I've never been so immersed and pulled into a game this way before...

People say there is no content and it's too repetitive... Well the way i see it, every time i log in i never know where to go and what to do, there's too much choice, i mean, do i do PVP Crucible? Shall i do strikes? Shall i just go farming? How about the story missions?? just don't know... i'm lvl 24 and haven't even finished the story mode yet... I get the style/format of the game is literally shoot everything in sight, but isn't that awesome FUN if the engine for it and the programming is spot on and rewarding? Isn't that pretty much what you're meant to do if you play CoD, Halo, BF and pretty much every other FPS shooter out there that is good?

On top of all you already get with the game, graphics are incredible, there's like 5 or 6 or 7 different alien races spread across Earth/Moon/Venus/Mars which are huge maps with caves/ships/buildings etc etc that you can explore for endless hours and with constant baddies to kill, looting chests to open and materials to find and farm... An insane amount of guns/armour/ships/ and other pointless customisable options like symbols and capes/bonds etc... A pretty solid levelling/upgrade system which is quite rewarding and interesting, 3x different character classes all customisable and each with their own special abilities... My god the list is endless... Bungie have also been loading daily challenges, weekly challenges, Raids, Bounties to complete (and get XP and Loot) and there's a lot more to come as well... It is UTTERLY INSANE for people to be saying there is no content and it's "too repetitive"... Even after all this, i still can't help but feel the whole thing is still just a huge platform with incredible expansion potential...

IMHO, people just do not understand the game and its concept... It's been 10 days since it's been out and it seemed no one gave it a chance and were too quick to judge... Again, the way i see it, you need to spend 15 to 25 hrs playing it to even start getting and understanding the game, problem is, i saw 0 score reviews 1 day after the game was out, that is ridiculous...

For me, this is probably the best game i've ever played... Actually... IT IS the best game i've ever played and will be playing it for a long time... It's getting more and more interesting and challenging as i've progressed...

I truly don't get why there's so much negativity and criticism towards this game, it's all just a bit strange to me...

    10/10 = Amazing Game!
    Congrats Bungie/Activision

Destiny is pretty fun, addictive with an excellent presentation and epic soundtrack. That's all about it. The lore, story (barely 5-10 story dialogues in the whole game) and character development are insignificant if not non-existent.

The only downside would have to be its linear story-line, but the games functionality outweighs the stories importance in such a way that you're really not focused on the story-line, but more so the grind of leveling up and killing enemies all the while obtaining new gear and abilities along the way. Graphically the game is unreal and the framerate at least on the PS4 is smooth and rarely hiccups. The gameplay itself is an awesome blend of Halo and Borderlands, the exploration, story and strike modes are awesome, and the multiplayer aspect here is great, with other players wandering in and out of your adventures, but due to the way the game is designed, the only way other players can effect your game is positively, they can't attack you or steal items from you, only help you wipe out a particularly rough enemy or lead the way to a new area originally unknown to you. If you want to smash other players heads in of course there's always the crucible, which is the player vs player multiplayer aspect and has all the traditional fixins from deathmatch to capture the flag and control. The story is in depth and interesting, and has the occasional out of left field gameplay (the sword of crota mission is unreal).

There are more than enough things to do in the game that it is a solid investment, and whether you want to be social or play like a lone wolf, you can do both seamlessly (though the strikes and raids will auto match you up with other players because alone they're legitimately almost impossible). The game, however, needs to be constantly online, so whether you want to play alone or with friends, it works in a similiar vein as world of warcraft, where the world is shared with everyone.

All in all the game scores a perfect 10 out of me, the only gripe I have is Peter Dinklage not being a very good voice over artist. If you buy one more game all year, please make it this one. Hope I see you online.

A first person shooter, open world RPG with MMO elements. While they are all present in the game, they may not be as in depth as they first appeared.

Destiny is a great shooter. Its mechanics are tight, fast, and completely sound. But the gun depth isn't there. While there are many guns, they are all just variants of a few base models. Other than that, they change color and damage stats. What initially looks like a deep customizable gun-play experience, ends up being a mediocre one.

We also get RPG elements. There are three classes, each with a sub class. But you quickly learn that to earn your abilities, you just go through the paces. There are no real consequences or perks to choosing one ability over the other. The loot system is awesome as always. You get guns and armor fairly often. More times than not having better stats than the ones equipped. The game gives you just enough.

Then you have your MMO like elements. The Tower would be the starting point, it is your central hub for pretty much everything. You can go to different vendors that sell certain things. Look at mail, interact with many other people, and have access to your safe. It's all very similar to an MMO. Then you have missions of the day/week, strike missions, and random events that start up. The thing most fun are the random events, but they are to far apart and happen very rarely. Bungie will be adding raids to the mix, which should be fun.

Those were very light summaries of the full experience along with my thoughts. Destiny is in not way an excellent game. It barely qualifies as great. But you can't help to be immersed in the game. The story is really non-existent, which is very disappointing, when it was presented as a huge part of the game. It's multiplayer is fun, but has not showed anything to make me want to keep playing. But it's Destiny's core gameplay that keeps me interested. What starts as an hour playthrough, it ends up being four hours. I just need that next upgrade for my armor, or get that better gun. You can truly lose yourself in this game and it's a shame that some people are going to miss out because they don't want to except a great game. They would rather be the cool person and claim Destiny is overhyped and doesn't deliver. GET OVER YOURSELF. Bungie never promised anything that's not in the full game or is coming to the full game.

As a new IP though, Destiny needs to really make itself stand out and I'm not sure if it does just yet. I could definitely see people getting bored after a month or so, and the servers going stale similar to what happened with Titanfall. The game would have definitely been a 9 in my book had there been more of a story as well, as the game pretty much feels like halo (3 factions, one that is far more "sentient" and the other that is comparable to the flood in Halo) with even less story.

TL;DR - It's an ok game that was definitely over-hyped, doesn't do anything better than similar games like Borderlands, and only time will tell if it can really keep everyone's attention for more than a few weeks, let alone spawn a franchise.

Even a biscuit can be delicious. Destiny does nothing to particularly stand out. It's not a wonderous amalgam of gourmet game design, presenting you with one of the most curious design decisions since Vaas of Farcy 3.

What is there, is done well. Compared to the Borderlands series, it does away with all the garbage toys, offering you a functional palette of destructive weapons. It offers more variety and growth than more static shooters. It's MMO-ey, but gone is the need to have 40 "friends" whos friendship hinges purely on schedules befitting an employer. Two friends are good enough for an adventure, and yourself-plus-five will be enough for a story to tell. PVP is easy to get into as any Halo match, with significantly more variation in the tools at your disposal to seek your win. Every class is the same at the core, sharing weapon availability, but with their special abilities defining the features of their special attacks, grenades, and melee strikes.

Yet, the major controversy is that the drama, the story, the "epic" falls somewhere in two camps. On one side, it all falls flat, a bizarre failure to try to make a beautiful world engaging (besides things that shoot at you). Yet on the other, the same absence of personality and drama adds to the desolation and desperation of what amounts to being in the soon-to-be-last-moments of humanity seem oddly engineered to be that way. Whether this is a failure or an unintentional success, I still cannot decide. NPC's are incorrigibly depressive, even in the face of good news. Landscapes are vast, interesting stretches of desolation depicting just how close to the precipice you truly stand. That hollowness isn't something you simply 'fail' your way into.

Yet this only makes the game yours to make in an endearing sort of way if you're looking for a shooter-RPG to dig in. It's fun to play. While not offering anything truly unique, this biscuit is worth a bite.

Let me say right now what Bungie has been saying all along this is neither Halo nor an MMORPG. This game is also not Borderlands. If you bought this game or are planning on buying this game because you think it is one of these things then you are mistaken.

This game is what Bungie is calling a "shared world shooter." It is a FPS first and foremost with a combat system that is similar to Halo. By similar I mean the feel of the combat is comparable to Halo as far as combat flow, weapon mechanics, physics, etc. However, it still feels unique particularly with the super abilities.

As far as the "Shared World" portion of the game there is not open world chat system, it is all squad based. Bungie did this deliberately so that the Tower and other social areas didn't turn into troll central. Honestly, it's better that way so we don't have to deal with racists and spammers in the common areas. It is entirely up to you if and when you want to team up with other players and engage in the social aspect of the game.

The loot is cool and unique and it doesn't spam you with loot like in Borderlands and Diablo. I prefer this system honestly since you will be leveling up your individual gear.

The world is open world in the same way that Borderland is open world not in the way Skyrim is open world.

Overall, if you appreciate this game for what it is rather than trying to turn it into something it is not and was never intended to be, i.e. Halo or WoW, then you will have a great time. One of the best games I have played in a long long time.

The most common complaint I see is "boring, grind-fest, you do the same thing over and over." What were you people expecting? Mini-games? Every FPS on the market is repetitive, almost every single game is repetitive. Mechanics are in place, settings that allow you to play the game with those mechanics are in place. You don't play the same level over and over; the levels take place on planets which are each one giant map. You can play the story/strike missions, where you are led through certain areas of the map and certain enemies will be present, or, you can play the free-roam map where you can explore the whole planet while doing side missions.

The multiplayer aspect of this game is perfectly integrated. So, here's something people thought was going to happen; "You arrive on Planet A and everyone who is playing Destiny on Planet A is there with you." This wouldn't work with an MMOFPS; yeah idiots, it isn't an MMORPG because an FPS can never be an RPG! The population is split into separate servers for each instance so there aren't more players than there are enemies!

Destiny is a great game. It is a fun FPS, with plenty of RPG elements, set in a MMO environment. Before I hit level five I was in a party with two other people (strangers) doing missions together, coordinating against the mobs with voice chat. But, the trolls said that the game is easy, right? Well, games have this thing called "difficulty" where you can choose normal or hard, so by playing some missions on hard, we needed to be on the same page and we were! Wow.

It's so strange when so many people 'claim' to have experienced a game that is completely separate from the one I'm experiencing...the one that the people I've played with are experiencing. There are so many people on the internet who seem compelled to unleash their self-loathing, tortured souls onto the accomplishments of others. The same is true here, the press will give people out there a real look at the successes and flaws of Destiny; and I predict the average score will be in the high 8 to low 9 out of 10 range.

The people who reviewed the game and gave it such low scores couldn't have even gotten 1/4 of the way through the content. (Yeah, level cap is 20; but there are multiple end game raids that will take a long time for people to finish). My score is based on the content I've seen, (up to level 10) combined with my evaluation of the systems in place. Borderlands meets Halo in a persistent world (style of gameplay). Graphics are very good (For a PS4 game). The multiplayer component is easy to use and is very important when completing the end-game content or any content, because cooperative and competitive MP is fun... (Really people, did you expect Bungie to create a virtual-world FPS for you to waste your real life on? ITS A GOOD GAME, so go play a different 'repetitive grindfest' if you don't like it.)

P.S. I am mostly a PC gamer, and I haven't played a Bungie game since Halo 2; so I'm not a fanboy or anything like that. This is my actual opinion of the game, which I'm guessing over 200 people (at the time I'm writing this) can't honestly say.

I have to say for all the people that are leaving short negative reviews. Don't trust them. These are just trolls. I give the opening of Destiny an 8/10. Why an 8/10 and why not a 10, 5, 3 or a 0. Well because the game is fun to play, and has a lot of potential but is lacking story characters and player chat like in other MMO games. The gameplay is superb, and the graphics are very crisp.I have to say for all the people that are leaving short negative reviews. Don't trust them. These are just trolls. Well because the game is fun to play, and has a lot of potential but is lacking story characters and player chat like in other MMO games. The gameplay is superb, and the graphics are very crisp. Let me just point out. I played the Beta, and Earth is still the same Earth, so if you leave a review you need to play at least till end of Moon to have a credible review as that is when the game starts to get good.

And the weapons feel great. The shooting is fun, and frantic and I appreciate the challenging gameplay. The game is not easy, but gives just enough challenge for an average gamer. I wish maybe a more variety in weapons, but I am sure they will add more variety later. The game is basically a very polished beta at this time. So do not expect much. World of Warcraft didn't even have raids the first year. These guys plan to release a raid pretty soon. People expecting the best game every made will not get it right away. First you gotta level up. Get some good weapons, then hit the end game. That is when the actual fun begins. I hate leveling myself too. I mean who can actually admit they enjoy leveling up? Maybe gearing up, but not grinding. Destiny does have leveling, but not as much as other roleplaying games. They want you to experience the game, without having to level to 60. Think about it.

Also to the people who complain about this game being online only. Welcome to 2014. A lot of things these days require a stable broadband internet connection. Time to get with the times old folks used to playing single player games. The game is meant to feel like a persistent changing world. Don't judge the game by the first 20 hours of playing it and say it is too hard, when you are actually using the starting gear. When you get better gear, the game will get easier, so you will be able to tackle harder missions. All the people say the bosses take a long time to kill, think about it, you are using WOWs equivalent of Greens and Grays. You cannot kill anything with starting gear. You need to get some decent loot first before you can solo stuff.

To all the people complaining about the game not being able to have anyone to play with. I have like 50 people on my PSN friend list and I am incredibly antisocial, most of those people (friends) I met playing other Playstation games like Warframe. So to sum it up, don't complain you cannot make friends, just wave to someone and add them as a friend. You will be surprised how many people will join you on a quest or a strike in Destiny.

One thing that players must understand, is that this game has been overhyped fro several years now. So of course it will not live up to those kind of expectations. The expectations created are unrealistic. So instead, look at what kind of game this is. This is basically and Halo-esque RPG. And it is wonderful. Being an experienced MMO player for the days of vanilla World of Warcraft, this game has great MMO checkpoints. A leveling system that keeps you wanting more. Loot that drives you to get the best items. And subtle customization that makes you spend days figuring our what you want to play.

This game lets you play one of the best designed FPSMMOs out there. You go through the story to get levels to find out what the class you picked is capable of. Or you PvP in the amazing Halo style combat. Or, for the old-school gamers, you can just grind and get higher and higher levels and just bask in the rewards of excessive grinding. This game does it all. PvP combat that has the FPS elements of skill, yet subtle changes due to weapons, gear, and level to a degree. All of them work. The balance is spectacular.

Want to roleplay? Well guess what, you are a Guardian, one of the last vestiges of a civilizations golden age. You are the champion that is protecting the one remaining city on Earth from falling into darkness. It's here. Want to PvP? Level up smoothly in the game modes that you craved for in Halo. Get new gear as you annihilate your opponents. Want to quest? Then go to story mode and listen to Peter Dinklage edpouse his wisdom. Grind in the surprising open world patrols that are offered on each planet. There is plenty to do in this game, almost a little bit for everyone.

So many people are dissatisfied that it doesn't live up to expectations. Instead, take it as it is. A game that the developers took time to be enjoyable. To make you spend hours, and realize that it is tomorrow and work in is 2 hours. A game that you can lose yourself, and remember and enjoy every moment that you spent. This game is an amazing game to play, and I hope that most of you understand that it is a cu above he rest that have released. It breathes life into the FPSRPG genre, and it cares about it. It is a game that will not be forgotten. I hope people remember this game as a genre defining staple in a stagnating marketing. Play it, and let your enjoyment be the true judge of this adventure.

But, for the most part, Destiny is a very enjoyable FPS. It takes a few hours to get into, but from about 4 or 5 hours in, to about 25 hours in I had a blast. Now though, as I'm up to the mid 20's and trying to find the top line loot that allows you to reach the highest levels, I'm getting pretty frustrated with the loot system. The game rewards you with loot seemingly based on performance in all game modes, including multiplayer. But it is just random, it doesnt seem to have much at all to do with performance, which can be very frustrating. The last two nights I played for hours trying to loot up, but was unlucky and got almost nothing, at one point winning 4 rumble pit matches in a row, in which I got nothing, but in some every single other player was rewarded with loot. At this stage of the game, it is starting to feel like a chore, the grinding to try to move up levels, and so it gets frustrating when you dont find a reasonable, logical way to make your time spent playing equate into reasonable progression. But, other than that, it's a great game. Expand

Stop comparing it to other games that are not part of its genre.

I personally thought it was a semi-finished masterpiece. I played it for a solid weekend with two other friends. It was very entertaining and addicting, I couldn't put it down. The gameplay was fun and varied, the guns were fun and exciting to use (besides the fact that rocket launchers are **** useless). The boss battles were stressful and rewarding in the end.

The majority of people writing reviews of this game are giving it a bad review because they are comparing it to games that have nothing to do with it. Remember that Destiny is supposed to be a ten year long game full of DLC and new content. For all those people freaking out because people are giving it such a bad time understand that nobody liked Diablo 3 when it came out. In conclusion, although Destiny is lots of fun now, it will take sometime before it develops into what may be one of the greatest games of the new generation.

It grows on you quite a lot. PLEASE NOTE: I have only played to soft cap so far so my experience is limited to those who have played to 30.

    Graphics:
Okay so obviously games these days arent fully polished before being released. But Destiny seems to give off that polished feel- in most levels. There are a couple (about 4-5) instances where theres broken textures or bleeding lightmaps which for a game this big is a very tiny ammount.Coming from a fellow game developers perspective its quite a hard thing to fully polish something before release and I do feel for the artists when they hear theres a couple of faults. Those who are wonderingg which console will look better I have to admit out of both of my consoles the Ps4 looked better in terms of graphics. It could just be because of the native 1080 with the playstation console but nevertheless both versions are infact very pretty.

Story: For those of you that say there is no story I'd have to give you a thumbs down its obvious that you didn't really pay attentiion to the story whilst your playing. This story is not weak by any chances it actually pulls you in I think half an hour into the game I was immersed into the story and I wanted more. There doesn't seem to be active plot holes though it would have been good to include the side missions in a little more I felt that department was lacking a tiny little bit in the story department. All up its a good story if your into that type of thing.

Playability: This is a new game new games always have server issues please be reminded of that. I think after midnight launch me and a friend were sitting playing together not talking just playing the next time I spoke was around 5 hours later even though we were in the same fireteam its a very immersive game. But I would also like to note this isnt Call of Duty nor is it WoW so when your playing it would be a good reminder of that. Of course there have been issues like: centepeide (this is a server error they are creative with names I even got a error code called cattle and sheep lol!) which they are actively fixing. I have to admit this game has some replayability too which is nice. Despite the errors this is definately replayable.

Gameplay: Before you argue about what its like take the time to also play borderlands. I think this falls under MMOFPS. Mind you compairing games is a bad thing in the first place. Gameplay is quite smooth especially with the leveling. Nothings really broken here which is nice. Though you might want to consider putting lvl20+ in thier own crucible Im sick of battling level9 and below no challenge haha.

Voicechat: I think it was a good idea that if you arent friends or in the same fireteam that you couldnt speak with other players it forces you to communicate with friends. though I did find multiplayer hard without communication I kinda just followed the pack situation. There were a couple of issues when using a headset I want to be able to lower the volume of the actual game which unfortuneately you cant.

    Verdict: 9/10

Would I reccomend?: I reccomend MMO fans to atleast give this game a try you wont be dissapointed. I don't reccomend this game if your one of those hardcore CoD fans you'll just end up **** about it on forums later.

All in all from a game developers standpoint it is a well done game and I think people should give this game a chance before dismissing it. Of course it has some flaws but all games do at least they tried to please. I'll definately be playing this game for a long time!

Also, don't you dare call it a Halo ripoff, because first, the gameplay is not much like Halo, even though it has that sort of vibe, and second, it was made by the same company as the Halo creators. How can someone rip off their own game? The point is, it's a great game. However, it doesn't earn a ten. Yes, it was overhyped (ughh, I hate that word), and I know, you always have to be online, and yes, I am aware that missions aren't very fun without friends. But, those are my only complaints. I'm glad I spent 60 dallars on this game. And, OOOH! All that content!! The class systems and races are also a cool way to make your hero your own. And don't even get me started on how great of an addition PvP is (why do no reviewers take this into consideration when scoring? The crucible is a huge part of the game). This is a must own. I don't care about what any haters or trolls will say, but it is your destiny to play this game, if, of course you have a few friends and internet. 9/10 all the way! Like all reviews -- positive and negative -- nothing is wholly indicative of every person's experience with a particular game. Personally, I think this game is great! That being said (or written), the writing isn't amazing by any standards (but not totally awful compared to some other games) and starting a second or third character and not being able to skip cutscenes is kind of a bummer. However, Destiny gets a heck of a lot right! I've seen several reviews saying that the enemies and bosses are too easy...Well...get past level 20 and then try level 24 Strike Playlists...or better yet, try the weekly strike or nightfall strike (level 28) missions. Folks, after level 20, you're just getting started.

Lastly, I don't think Bungie "banned" reviews early; and certainly didn't intend to bolster sales by saying early reviews won't be indicative of the full game. What Bungie said is the truth. Destiny is still young; it's only been out a single week. Bungie will continue adding content and supporting those who play it. I think the best is yet to come.

--Small rant about other reviews below--
What I don't understand is folks rating this game a 0-3. To me, if you rate a game 0 to 3, something has to truly be wrong with your experience...like reeeally bad. I don't see anything in Destiny that could make it that awful for any one person. Additionally, when Bungie said Destiny really begins after level 20...they weren't kidding. Patience is required -- sure -- but that's no reason to rate something this great so low (personal opinion...obviously)

Or the bosses not really having any puzzles to them, their really just big bullet sponges that you need to shoot longer.

And the story is just not that poignant... I liked it and I know its barely just chapter one (Perhaps) and there's tons more to come but I never really felt my character mattered much. If not me, someone else could do all that and we'd be all safe anyways. I need more heroics!

Finally, the game IS damn fun to play if you're a fan of story/shooters and even though some complain about the 'retracing your steps' a lot, I actually quite enjoy it. I think its poetic justice that I can come back to Old Russia and annihilate the Fallen that killed me so many times while at low levels. AND I get to help friends or lowboys while being all badass looking.

Bungie has created a FPS that allows you to create their own game. Destiny is a game that introduces a new style of FPS that lets you decided the skill or path you want to take. This game lays the groundwork for video games in the next ten years. Even in its flaws (endless tunnels and repetitive characters) Destiny's game play is additive.

I would like to first say that this game is an MMOFPS, and with that ALL MMO's start out kind of lacking. The expansion sets are what really bring the game up to the level that people think a game like this should start out at. This game is amazing and is especially amazing when playing with friends. Played the beta nonstop while it was out and still I'm having fun while playing the same spots now.

The beta was basically the early levels of Earth. They left nothing out so the first hours of the game are going to be the same if you played the beta. But the game is a lot of fun and can't wait to get to the end game content. currently level 14 and on the moon. still have 2 unexplored planets, and a lot of stuff that i need to unlock and upgrade.

So far I've played for 15 hours and some was just collecting money and finding remaining ghosts that are hidden around the maps. The people who played the first 3-5 hours and are complaining that the game sucks obviously didn't play the beta which would of let them know if they would like the game.

Also the petty reasons they gave a low score are astounding. No voice chat? that can be patched in later if people really want it.. Lacking in guns? well there aren't a billion weapons while you are leveling up and there might be in endgame 3-4 guns in each category that are BiS doesn't mean that the game sucks xD. I've gone through tons of guns before I find the type I like. its like borderlands where there are different brands of a semi-auto rifle and each has a different balance to it. one like jacobs has high impact (damage) but lower magazine and more recoil and slower fire rate. different elements on the guns also change the gun as well.

And while the abilities are lacking in variety per subclass you get two per class at this time. So switching back and forth will also change up your gameplay.

So far me and my friends are having a blast playing and i cant wait to get back into the pvp once i hit 20. And cant wait to play the end game.

Solo or with 2 friends. Campaign or crucibal. I didn't had so mush fun in a while. Gameplay is perfect. Level design are great and PvP maps all takes advantage of the verticality. Its all about the loot man! Your getting 1 or 2 great items on each missions. Loot adjust to your lvl too. Replays early mission with a friend who has jus begun the game and you still earn great pieces for YOUR lvl.

If you want more challenge you can play each mission on hard difficultie but the real pain is crucibal! You will be crushed on your first games . the trick is to experiment with classes and load out. Some guns are better in PvP. Look for more impact, fire rate and magazine size. Reloading in the middle of a fight is certain death! Titan is a good idea.

This is just my review so far. In my humble opinion, no one can review that game right now. This fps/RPG/mmo is an evolving thing. There's so much content we haven't seen. Raids, iron banners, weekly and public events. There's also 2 expansions on the way. Sites who reviewed this game on september 10 and 11 have clearly not understand something. It's fun with friends, even with people you never met before you will have fun. There are few repetitive things in the game, yes but it's an fps it's what is expected. I mean look at all the Call of Duty games repetitive as ever yet many people love playing it. Destiny is delivered as it is, you can still solo through out the game which is much harder for those who prefer single player, and ignore people saying there isn't single player because you have the option to either choose to play by yourself or with others meaning there is single player and multi-player, where multi-player is fine as it is either playing with 1 friend or more up to 5 and or 5 other random people. The story is rich and unique, it's what sci-fi fans would like, it's more on the generic side but has it's unique parts within the stories. Game play is full of action pack, with different capabilities with the 3 classes, fun vehicles to drive around the map killing things, large maps to explore including hidden enemies, treasures, bosses and new area locations within the maps. This game no doubt is not a let down, but meets my expectation and I give it a fair rating of 8/10. The game is not perfect but is enjoyable, fun and can be competitive if your not a casual player. I recommend people watch the game play, read other proper reviews and see it yourself, not bunch of lies, hate and pathetic trolling, and maybe ask a friend if they have a copy and try it out yourself. The game is setup with a home base where you handle alot of your RPG elements of the game, then you drop down to the various planets to continue the story, do bounties or the other various tasks they have in the game.

The loot system is pretty standard for an RPG with that addition of locked attritubtes that you can unlock by upgrading the gear. You use items you find while playing to upgrade the gear so combat is rewarding for more than just exp.

Yes, there are a limit amount of gun TYPES, but that doesnt mean there are a limited amount of guns. I used a sniper playing as a Hunter and I have 3 rifles that all act in dramtically different ways.

The story I feel is eclipsed by the gameplay itself. The game as definitely made with long term play in mind, and the story more gives you a frame of reference but its not so linear that its all you are doing.

I give this a 10/10 because it hit all the criteria i was lookign for in a next gen MMO RPG. There are things i would like to see, and that i expect to see in the coming patches/expansions, but even as it sits currently its a great game with a great future.

You can see this is a AAA Next Gen title from the off with the great polished presentation and the outstanding musical score (Also some of the best music in game i have heard in a LONG time). Graphically this is next gen, great looking textures and animations, although, we could have had more variety with enemies, enemy AI is also very impression,(ie) they will flank, take cover when necessary. Combat feel very tight as you would expect from Bungie.

The RPG elements are just basic at best (So Far) Guns don't offer that awe effect when they shoot. Loots drop are far and few between at the moment. the crucible adds that Longevity to the game, i thoroughly enjoyed my time with the 6v6 battles, maps a maybe a little small though, again i have maybe have have not played all the maps.

I can see where people are coming from when they say the game can get repetitive, tell me what game in 2014 isn't repetitive, they are ALL the same rinse and repeat, so this title is no different. I would like to see in future patches/DLC more interaction with NPC's other than the Tower

In terms of content the game has plenty. The single player will take about 20 hours to complete, and that is not considering the time spent in other mission types. Compared to other shooters on the market today that is a ton. The story is forgettable, but each mission is well crafted and fun.

The real meat of the game is in playing strike missions. These missions pit you against tough bosses and are challenging and fun. Each take 30-60 minutes and give you great gear for playing. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. There are several different modes, and all the mechanics from the single player carry over to the multiplayer. It makes for a very connected experience between both single and multiplayer.

Anyway, it's a good game. If you enjoy FPS you'll probably enjoy this game as well. I'm going to give it an 8/10 because of the disappointing story and somewhat empty feeling tower, but overall I think the game is quite fun and well worth playing.

The game is clearly meant to be played with friends. The story content and writing seems bare, as if they tried to keep plot out of the way of friendly banter between fireteams. The real interesting aspect of the game's lore come unfortunately from the Grimoire Cards, items found in game that can only be read on Bungie's Destiny app or on their own website. This will keep a lot of people from really experiencing what is a deceptively deep and compelling universe.

It's clear that there's room in the game for DLC. With the first two expansions announced before the game's release, it feels as if the story has suffered from a desire to sell removed sections of the game. What's there justifies the initial purchase in my opinion, but the practice leaves a bad taste in my mouth for sure.

The decision to exclude team-chat during the game's multiplayer mode keeps solo players from being able to jump in and perform well with strangers. This unfortunately keeps the game from having perhaps the best multiplayer experience in any current-gen shooter.

At the end of the day, playing this game with friends and clan mates will provide an exciting experience that, quite frankly, is a total blast. Collecting loot, exploring, competing and cooperating with your team feels as good or better in this game than in any other. Without the ability to speak to teammates without inviting them to join your fire team, playing the game solo may indeed keep a player from really enjoying what could be a near-perfect game.

    Graphics are impressive.
    game-play is superb
    story seems to be cool
    weapons are awesome
the only thing this game is lacking or let's call it as negative side of this game is that there is no offline campaign.
apart from it, everything seems to be good enough.

This is not the fault of Bungie, who have produced an outstanding gaming experience that somehow manages to seamlessly merge meaningful cooperative play with an engrossing and original sci-fi universe.

If you are approaching this game expecting a Mass Effect style single player campaign then you will be disappointed. Instead what you will find is an incredibly detailed action sci-fi framework that provides a very promising future for expansion and longevity. It is unfair to expect Bungie to drop all their tricks on the initial release, they must save something in reserve to release over time - and personally I cannot wait.

The mechanics are peerless, and the loot-dropping grind gameplay is incredibly addictive. Bringing down a boss in a strike mission truly feels like a group effort. The 'bullet-sponge' nature of the bosses isn't for everyone but I challenge you to not feel awesome when you and your new comrades finally conquer one.

The bastard child of Borderlands, Halo and Mass Effect (2 and 3). Keep it coming Bungie, I can't wait to see what you do next.

---The social aspect feels a little lacking, especially for a game which is essentially an MMO which is why I've given it a slightly lower rating. I do however enjoy the small group version of MMO. Rather than feeling forced to join a large guild to complete end game content I can play with my close group of friends in 3 man teams to knock out missions, and PVP.

---Overall I think the game is worth playing AT LEAST through level 20 and completing the story arc. And there's even more to do after getting there.

Ignore the hype, forget about a riveting narrative & as long as you don't mind a good FPS that is always online & have some buddies to kick it with (Bungie have also made it as easy as possible to make new friends, a new friend is only a few clicks away) it is definitely a game worth getting. I have had some connectivity issues with certain people, my best gaming i=friend in particular but when he put his PS4 Ip into DMZ on his router we have been fine ever since & I expect progress to be made within the coming days & weeks from Bungie regarding connectivity. The game has 28 missions which take a while to beat and then you'll want to beat again with a better challenge and to get more loot. Compare that to another shooter like Metro that get's review scores of 8-8.5 from users and critics and it really makes the game look bad even though a game like Metro has less content when you think about because it's just missions. Sure the story isn't great either but does story really matter in a game these days? When was the last time you really cared about story when playing a shooter MMO? Most people just go in for the side quests or progress so they can get better bosses to get better loot off of them. People came in with to many expectations for it. So by no means is it a bad and it doesn't deserve a bad score. It's a great game that you can either enjoy or not like. I've had a recent experience like this with GTA Online. Everyone loves it but my experience is a 5-6/10 but it really isn't 5-6. It's great and deserves 8. I'm gonna stop ranting now and give my actual thoughts about the game. If you couldn't tell I've been enjoying it a lot. Teaming up with friends in a video game hasn't been this fun for since Black Ops 1 Zombies for me. Unfortunately I can't say the same for those who don't have friends which unfortunately is a lot of people and I know because I tried playing by myself. I felt like missions just became a bit to challenging and not in a good way. It could boring and frustrating at some points. Difficulty level should change if playing solo or playing with friends. Also like I said the story really isn't to good. It feels like there isn't any at all. It felt like a chapter of something bigger and it didn't even feel like there was a protagonist. There were just bosses you could take it. At some point you may think "Why am I fighting these guys? What did they do to me?" The enemy has no character which is a big problem. However I still found the missions to be fun. I enjoyed the strike missions a lot but I do feel like they could have added more also give out more rewards for doing them. The reward system in my opinion isn't so great. You could go through a strike or mission and get no engrams and rare loot that is below your level and you'll just ask yourself "What was the point of that?" The reward system is especially terrible in crucible. You could be the best player on your team and those under you will get legendary loot. It's flat out unfair and annoying. However that doesn't mean it isn't fun. Crucible is one of the most fun modes in the game and plays a big role when getting faction legendary gear which you may be better off with than trying to get legendary engrams. So to conclude the review Destiny is not as bad as people say it is. It can be annoying yes and maybe not enjoyable but the game play is very fun and addicting and you can spend hours upon hours on it and in the end of the day how you enjoy a game could make it not matter if the story is bad or short. If you have fun then it's a good game. Expand

Now I know not everyones experience may have been as smooth as mine but the majority of people had no issues and best part, no server crashs at launch so all the haters actually got to play before hating right away. One of my biggest gripes in todays games is developers releasing games full of problems and yet some people want to make excuses for them(i.e. BF4) but Destiny works well and the shooting mechanics works beautifully.

The reason I didn't give it a 9 or higher was because, yes it does get kind of bland. They put in parts of halo, borderlands. MMO aspect, and multiplayer but each thing seems to be missing some features that would have made this game really stand out. Doesn't mean the game isn't fun and most of the complaints have been from people that I guess weren't expecting to shoot so many things in FPS but if your actually looking for a FPS game and know what a FPS is, then this game will deliver especially when your playing with friends. Lastly, this game is by far not bad enough to be given a 0 score. The haters giving it a 0 are just that, haters. There's no game that really deserves a 0 and this game is one of them. Bungie has released more content for this game for free in a matter of weeks which shows you that they are working on supporting this game and actually have a plan so that they can release content in a timely manner.

Overall, I think the game is an 8 for the solid gameplay. Yes there are parts that could have had more stuff added to them but in the end if your nitpicking every part of the game then you actually realize how fun it is especially if you go back to buggy games like CoD and BF4 and then come to this then you'll see what I mean.

Weapons are pretty cool and you're constantly upgrading; it's definitely different than everything on ps4 so far.

The bad side: you can't do raids - which is the most fun part - until you reach at least level 20 or you'll get DESTROYED since you get mixed with people of unequal level or skill. Also unless you already know people who own the game you'll never be able to do campaign with others, meeting players online is impossible.

Now for the con's: repetitive levels, underdeveloped story, constant internet connection to play, and unoriginal gameplay mechanics. Everyone should have realized from the very beginning that Destiny was going to be Halo with Call of Duty mechanics and a Mass Effect art style. And saying a game is bad because it borrows aspects from other games is unfair. Many popular game franchises start off as rip-offs, but that doesn't mean they're bad games. Saints Row was originally a rip off of GTA, PS Allstars was a rip off of SSB, and Unreal Tournament a rip off of Quake. But all of those were still very good games. Destiny may not deliver on it's promises and hype, but it's still a fun, immersive, challenging, beautiful, and overall very entertaining game. Although it may fall short of it's potential, I still enjoy playing and will continue to do so as it is supported with DLC in the future. I'm sure Bungie has learned from the short comings of Destiny and will improve the franchise with sequels and/or or prequels. Destiny is by no means the best game ever, but I am more than intrigued to see how the future of this franchise plays out. Expand

When you´re playing with friends’ it´s so much fun doing even the real boring missions or strikes. Even farming can be fun if you just run around together and do crazy things with your sparrows (most likely with the EV-30 Tumbler) or try to find new treasure spots. And most fun is the PvP right now. People saying Hunters are OP just don´t know what to do. The only things that are OP in PvP are exotic weapons, and seriously, what else should they be? Just try to find out what works best for you and Play it. I got a Titan and a KDA of 4.2 for example. What class you choose is idol, the only Thing you should care about are their skills with weapons. So in the end you have to decide what kind of game you want to play, if you want an ego shooter play BF or CoD, but if you want to play together with friends Destiny will be real fun for you. Expand

Game is perfect for me... one character consumes just enough time but not so much that my wife gets upset. VoG raid is amazing, loot is easy enough to get but not so easy that is boring. Always something new to work toward without taking up all my time. I can see this being my only game for years to come!

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
