Playing through the campaign with a buddy is the most fun I've had on my ps4. It was all down hill after that. I'd give the game a solid 9 for first impressions. Gameplay feels polished and is exciting and tense. Challenging yet accessible. Graphics are decent. Best lighting I've ever seen. A bit too cartoony though
The end game is terrible and repetitive. Short and unfinished campaign.

Light leveling system is the worst leveling system I've ever seen. Once you hit end game you need light. You get light from armor. All other stats on armor become moot at end game. Before end game you can pick and choose which stats you prefer and build your character. At end game they introduce the light stat on armor and that's all that matters. No more choice or build or customizing. Terrible

Destiny misses the mark on so many levels aside from mechanics of overall gameplay. The combat is there. Bungie is known for that and they execute it well. There is ZERO progression and zero reward for playing PVP. One stat "light" is supposed to hold me as I grind match after match with loot drops being totally random and not dictated according to skill? What is my incentive for trying in any match? I'd rather just stand there, and be carried and hope something good drops. I have played for a solid week with ZERO progression of my character. Loot drops for me sure, but it is not as good as what I already acquired A MONTH ago. This game reeks of publisher medaling. Thankfully, this game has a 35.00 trade in value at Gamestop. And let's face it... who is going to be playing this when Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Halo MC drops?

If anything... Destiny 2... if there is one... should learn heavily from these mistakes. This is the last time I will ever be burned by a game that was really, if you think about it, entirely sold on hype. Nobody on my friends list.. of about 200 people... is playing this game. Most have gone back to BF & Ghosts. So far.. 1 year into this generation.. I am not impressed with what has been presented to the community.

But in no way is this game revolutionary or does it live up to the hype that was advertised pre-release. There is seriously nothing new to be found here.
The story is vapid at best. The strikes are all the same "Go here and kill this guy" formula. The story missions are just as repetitive. Missions on patrol are bland. If you love RPGs because of the immersion you get from the rich story telling and the lore, you will not get that here. Anybody who claims this is flat out lying to you. This game has virtually no immersion at all. It is a dressed up shooter with some RPG elements. I really hope this is resolved with future content.
The most disappointing thing about this game is its unrealized potential. They should have ditched the Grimoire and put those resources into writing a decent story. Everything is in place for this to be a great game, but as it sits, this game is just a good game.

Ugh, this game was a gross disappointment with an embarrassing lack of content... That being said I can't rate it too low, because I did spend weeks obsessively getting better gear to get my hunter to level 29, so, in pure hours played, I suppose I got sixty bucks worth? It just should have been more fun.

The game has its share of server glitches. Bungie continues to tweak guns for pvp, often overdoing it. The reward system is a tad daft. You can't play the character you choose and expect to max out your level with skill. It's luck. The game gave me gear for classes I was not playing and so my chosen class remains at 29 and the secondary characters have gear that will level to 30. I added these characters simply to make use of the gear that dropped for them.

People with more skill and more hours than I have get barely any good drops and are also thwarted from leveling up.

While the dlc is held out as more content is coming, it is hard to see how a few more maps and a raid are going to patch up the non existent story and barren gameplay environments.

And sound. How is it that huge monsters can stomp up behind you and not be heard?

Destiny is a hugely ambitious game and with that it is also hugely flawed. Though going through story missions and raids with a team of friends provides a bit of entertainment, the loot system bogs it down heavily, making playing Destiny past level 20 a maddening chore.

Here is my review for Destiny. After level 25 and 50 hours of gameplay for information.
I put him 70 for a video game cut into DLC. I do not want to pay for the extra content that should be included.

After the dust has settled, there is one thing to be said about Destiny. Over-hyped.
Take out the hype and guess what you have. An incredible intro to a forced 5 part dlc pack season thanks to Activision. And that is really my only qualm with the game. It's a pretty large issue, but I see a lot for this game in the future. The actual game-play itself is some of the best I've played in

It's a pretty large issue, but I see a lot for this game in the future. The actual game-play itself is some of the best I've played in it's genre. The PvP can be a little spastic and the super's can get annoying to fight against sometimes. But overall, everything plays very well. The PvE and RPG aspects of the game are what bring it down a bit. Boss's have entirely too much health, and there is hardly enough variety during the battle to make it interesting. And the fact that doing strikes is the most efficient way to acquire new gear is a little disappointing. But I'm still playing. And that's what solid game-play mechanics will do to players. The game in it's current state is unfinished, due to Activision's role. But I appreciate the way they are releasing content. It adds a new layer to immersion. If they gave you everything they had to offer at release, you'd play through it in a week or two and be done. That's not how events happen in the real world. It take's months, even years for wars to develop and end, not weeks. So by releasing certain content throughout the year, it adds an almost realistic approach to how the players will encounter the story. Destiny is an amazing FPS and an average RPG, for now. When the rest of the content is released, I believe that Destiny will finally live up to the hype it built.

I guess the true disappointment is in the multiplayer side of the game. Starting out you will find yourself out-matched by higher level players which truly have a huge advantage. Their are guns that are simple over powered and they are starting weapons which leaves players with the response "if you can't beat them join them".
The diversity in the weapons is great but again, it leaves the lower levels at a big disadvantage not being able to wield the high level weapons. If that is not enough for you, the perks; higher level players have, can leave low levels at the player mercy. Their is no skill base ranking system that you would expect from a Bungie game, which after 343's attempt at Halo 4, you would almost certainly expect their to be one.

Again not a bad game but not the legacy game we all anticipated!

Graphically, Destiny provides some of the best artwork in a game set in a new sci-fi world I've seen. Vistas on the different planets of our solar system are wonderfully and beautifully created, and leads one to want to view them rather than actually play the game itself. The story that players wander through, as there really is no overall story arc that is particularly compelling nor provides adequate reasoning for what is happening throughout it, is lackluster at best, and seems to have been completely ignored as nothing more than a tag-on rather than a main sell for the game.

Where Destiny really shines is its combat gameplay mechanics, with the combat feeling fluid and, for lack of a better word, right. Player vs. Player is one of the more compelling reasons to play this game, with the combat feeling more balanced than one would expect. While there are certainly advantages to players with exotic gear fighting lower levels, it is not in such a way that there is no point to joining in on it. As well as that, the various classes are interesting, if somewhat too similar to one another.

However, beyond this, the overall game itself reminds me of a massively-multiplayer game in regards to all of the bad things that come with them, with little of the benefits. Load times are frequent and long, maps are notoriously small for what they were perpetuated as being, and the Strikes and Missions offer little enjoyment after the initial run. Too much grind for too little gain is the best way to put it. Truly, the only thing that kept me coming back was the PvP, which too has lost its luster.

Overall, Destiny isn't a bad game, but it is nowhere near being a good game either. Rather, it's average, with some moments of brilliance, and other, far more, moments of poorly thought out choices and gameplay decisions.

The only highlight I found with this game was "The Crucible" which is very great but could still use some work. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you are solely looking for PvP. Expand

To start off, both Destiny's sound and visuals are excellent. The soundtrack is brilliantly put together, and is backed up by spectacular scenery - most notably on the moon. Animations and effects are well done. Glitches are infrequent at worst in normal game-play, and the game definitely doesn't suffer despite the lack of 60 frames per second (as it shouldn't).

The core game mechanics are solid. Movement is smooth and fluid while shooting is well refined and satisfying. Both aspects do of course have similarities to Halo, but that isn't at all a bad thing.

However, beyond the basics, Destiny does have numerous issues. Firstly, there's no reason that a game of its genre should have a ground breaking story-line. The truth is that the majority of the target audience don't want it. But that still doesn’t excuse the half-baked attempt at a story that Destiny gives us.

Barely anything is explained. What happened to the traveller? Why are all of the guardians dead at the start? The game sets itself up to explain its background, but never does. The whole story in the end feels pointless; as though nothing has really been achieved. There’s not nearly enough time to learn about the characters let alone care about them. In-depth character development isn’t necessary, but there needs to be at least a little to make the story worthwhile. Destiny has near to none.

Bungie may claim that this is merely the first chapter. Destiny has numerous expansions to come, so while you might not feel any sense of achievement yet, you will. The problem with that is that this was a full price release. To package such a lacklustre, unfulfilling story into a full price release is criminal. Without paying for Xbox Live/Playstation Plus, the campaign is all you get, and it definitely isn’t worth the price on its own.

Sure, the Grimoire cards on Bungie’s website explain everything you want to know about Destiny’s universe, but why should you need to visit a website? Needing to leave the game to get a full experience is poor design, full stop. Destiny began with the ambition of immersing the player in a rich new world, drawing fantasy together with FPS to create something fresh. Instead, you’re left wondering what your purpose in this new world is. You’re left wondering who all of these random and mismatched alien races are. Why did they come to Earth? Why did they attack humanity? What happened to leave Earth in ruin? None of it is properly explained.

Even beyond the campaign, the lack of content is constantly apparent. While every area is beautiful, the fact is there are only four (excluding The Tower). To add to this, the game barely encourages exploration, and so there’s very little point or enjoyment in it. At later levels, you’ll find yourself killing the same few dozen enemies time and time again. You’ll be repeating the same few dungeons (called strikes) over and over hoping for a chance of good loot. The enemies soon become boring to fight, as well. They lack variety, and bullet-sponge bosses are infuriating. You could take on the raid for a more advanced challenge, but you’ll need five friends with Destiny to be online with you to be able to access what is without doubt the best developed content in the game. Destiny’s promise was that it would have a lifetime of ten years, but sadly many people will be bored within ten hours.

Levelling in Destiny also comes with problems. To advance past level 20 you’ll need to collect armour pieces with the ‘light’ stat, but the loot system is punishing. After level 20, all loot is completely random. You collect ‘engrams’ in the world which you then decrypt to receive an item. Engrams have different tiers (rare and legendary) but beyond that you get a completely random piece of loot. Even better, if you decrypt a legendary engram you have a chance of getting an armour piece for another class which you can’t even use. As a result, levelling beyond 20 is based almost entirely on time and luck, not skill. That’s an issue.

Moving away from the co-operative aspects of the game, PvP is good. The difference in gear between new players and high level players isn’t ideal, but is easily tolerable. You can also use PvP to get loot, but again it’s random, so don’t expect a 5.0 K/D will earn you a legendary engram.

All in all, Destiny has solid foundations, but the rest needs some work. It is by no means a bad game. It has been put together with more care and attention than most releases of the past few years. However, it isn’t revolutionary, and at times it struggles to simply be enjoyable. What’s sad is that it had the potential to be great. The ideas were there, but the execution missed the mark this time. Perhaps, in time, Bungie will fulfil their promises, but that time could be some way away.

Look at their actual reviews, they are very telling, the game is hitting around the 70-80 mark. Not exactly stellar, but not bad. Watch some gameplay, or if possible gets some hands on time. The Review: Indepth

Story: Extremely poor.. It's disjointed, and doesn't make any sense. Spontaneously after ages of being sieged by the "darkness" (whatever that is) all the stuff is going down now? I mean seriously... The enemy has just suddenly decided to steal some info they've had in their territory for ages... The story line is filled with this stuff. It's as if it was written at the last minute by the programmers themselves.... You can tell they wrote it in reverse. "We want the players to kill 3 waves of enemies lets have them defend a computer (which cannot be destroyed).. Wait we used that 3 times... Ok lets have the players defend a alien computer! GOOD IDEA GUYS. *High Five's all around. *

The story is poorly scripted. I feel bad for Peter Dinklage. He's told to say "It's just past all those Devils" when there is only one Devil... Not plural... singular.... "I'm picking up a signal and it's not Cabal" When all you face next is Cabal....

The alien races fight each other and you, but there is no reason why they do this. You just have to accept it as is. Most of the story is basically just noise that plays as you do the same missions over and over. Then you finish, and then replay the missions over and over to earn Levels of Vanguard/cryptarch/Dread Orbit... etc. for no reason at all. You get full access to everything at level 2/3 so my level 30 Cryptarch is simply to get the 'level up bonus' which are items I scrap.

The Loot: Meh... Some of it is fun, but most of it is just junk to scrap. Infact I scrap 99+% of everything I find. It's hard to find amour that gives you the bonus you want in Ammo carry capacity for the guns you use. Sure you have boots that give you Scout rifle ammo increase but then it comes with Shotgun... You don't use a shotgun.. So you find one that gives you sniper ammo, but the other one is auto rifle...

and the 'aesthetic' items.. cloaks for hunter. Sash, or bonds do nothing. a level 15 one that is common is the same as a rare one at level 20... Not even the ability to infuse a style you like with anything... A wasted slot.

the shaders... Neon ones... Sure works well for multiplayer to stand out like a beacon... I have 2 that resemble cammo of a grey and green variety. I get hit less using them. So they are the only ones I use. I scrap the rest.

MultiPlayer: The strikes are not bad, but repetitive. On the PS4 I have 6 it rotates between. You may or may not talk to the people on your team but there is no reason for it. You are just rushing it as fast as you can. Most of my friends don't play Console games, the few that do either have Xbox One or don't have Destiny on the PS4. So I have to solo everything where there isn't matchmaking.

I tried to find a few groups to do the Vault Raid with, but to no avail. If you make it clear you want to do it you may get invited to the groups throwing out invites on a 3rd party website, but you have a better chance of being kicked from the fire team that being on it. So I haven't even tried to do the Vault except for the early stages when I could exploit to the 3rd area.

    Missions:
Why even bother with them... It's only Kill X monsters, Travel to Y position and stand still for 10 seconds, or Deploy ghost and let it take a snapshot. That's it. Nothing else.

Group Special Missions are: Kill Monster X, or Kill Groups of monsters at Location Y. That's it...

Music: Awesome music. Really. They did a great job.

Visuals: Really good. Levels and environment are the best, vehicles, and aliens are so-so. Your hunter... Faces look so-so.

Controls: Excellent. Very intuitive, smooth and glitch free.

I give the game a 6 because of the last few points. Otherwise it would be a 4 or lower. The last few points really save the day. You don't get frustrated by the basic mechanics, just with the story/repetitiveness of it.

Addicting but flawed to hell and back. They might as well have not included a story, it's incredibly weak. Server errors happen way too often causing disconnects. Other than that the mechanics are excellent and you can appreciate the work that went into the design.

They could have done much better with this title, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Sure, the story is not the best, and the multiplayer is not the most well-polished, but its an interesting shooter and certainly worth a look if you are a fan of Halo. Looking for an interative world to explore with traders, NPC's, interesting side quests, ability to create mini games within the game world with friends? nope, not here.

They could have done a simply trading/top trumps style mini game based on your weapons, armour or enemies killed...something....anything....it just feels half finished with so much bland emptiness. I mean one of the trading posts has had the same item for sale since day one. no stock refresh nothing. She must be so bored as every player wonders past without saying hello.

What there is are a few really good levels (the first couple and one or two others) with lots of mediocre bits in between and the most anticlimatic 'big boss' finale I've ever experienced in gaming.

I really wanted to love this game like I've done with mass effect, dragon age, Halo, PGR and others. It should have had a massive core of thirsty gamers hooked. But many have felt short changed and left cold.

While I pop back into this game once in a while to see if anything new has been added it certainly isn't Destiny for me to enjoy this game for month after month.

multiplayer is solid if unspectacular and hasn't got the COD must have one more go gameplay.

The fact that review sites and users have given this a 9.0+ rating is a joke. They are blinded by their love for Bungie and/or shills. This type of RPG with terrible storytelling is what we expected 20 years ago. Not in 2014. It's sad, because 10 years down the line when they release all of the DLC, people are going to say the game is good with great story when all they did was use 10 years to milk the players.

The shooting mechanics are good and PvP is fun. Graphics are nice and the Fallout-ish ambiance of the zones is compelling. The first few times you do a strike that's too hard for you with friends is a lot of fun. That's the good.

The bad is that everything seems really static, dead, and unchanging. If you kill a bunch of bad guys, they will respawn in the same place less than 2 minutes later (that's really how quick they respawn). It makes you feel like killing the bad guys is futile and irrelevant.

NPCs in the game only exist for one of three reasons: to give you quests, sell you things, or try to kill you. There are no squirrels running around, no civilians making smalltalk in alleys. You never see these people you are supposed to be protecting.

Destiny really isn't all that big. If you were expecting something as big as Skyrim, Fallout, etc, you will be very disappointed. If you count the square miles, Destiny MIGHT be bigger than those games, but it sure as heck doesn't seem it when you're riding around at a hundred miles per hour on your speeder bike thing or teleporting to different zones.

If you go exploring in Destiny, this is what you will find: dead ruins, and bad guys who will try to kill you. That is all. I love games that get exploration right: you are stumbling around in a snowstorm and you see lights in the distance, you go to them and discover an inn on the side of the road to rest for the night. Or you find a camp of bandits. Or it's a guy with a lantern. There is nothing like this in Destiny. You know what you will find.

In Destiny I never feel like I'm in danger in the open world (strikes and instances are a bit different). Enemies stand around in groups that stay in the same place as if they are shackled there. If you're fighting them and losing, you can just run away. They will chase you for a little while but then run back to their spot. If they do kill you, you just respawn with no penalty a short ways away.

Well that's what I think of Destiny. I don't think it's a bad game but I don't think it's a good one, either, and it's definitely not one I think it worth 60 dollars. If I could do it all over again I would not have bought it.

I also expected more levels. You can only explore 4 different maps in various ways before the campaign starts to feel like a dead end. Level design is good, but that doesn't change the fact.
My biggest gripe is without a doubt the story. It's absolute garbage. Nothing is ever explained to you. What is explained only happens in the 4-ish cutscenes throughout the entire game. I get that there are the grimoire cards that explain a bit, but to me that is a lazy method to take (to rely almost solely on anyway) and is a poor substitute for good storytelling.
Also, by the time I was done, it was pretty obvious that Bungie intended this game to be supplemented with DLC and/or a sequel since so much was left out and unfinished (this seems like bad planning, sequels should seem to come naturally, not artificially planned by the developers.
The multiplayer isn't far from the same crap these companies keep feeding us, so don't hold your breath for any groundbreaking advancements.

    Pros:
    Fun (although somewhat repetitive) gameplay
    Interesting powers
    Looks fantastic
    Occasional epic battles feel refreshing

    Cons:

    Too few planets/maps/areas

Now I have about 47 hours within this game, mixed between pve and pvp of course, and has long been beyond the 20 level mark , and quickly finished the narrative missions of the game in about 13 of those hours. Some people truly thought that Destiny was going to redefine the gaming industry and be a massive step forward, but with overall horrible, boring, and repetitive mechanics, it simply isn't. People were expected this great and massive game with an extensive story and lore that you would enjoy to learn more about, a game where there would be some amazing characters, fun and exciting firefights, and a massive world. Destiny has about 3 different planets and the moon to go play on, each has some free roam areas, and normally around 5 missions on each of them and a strike mission which usually contains a cool looking but overall uninspiring boss. People have been really trying to call this game an RPG, but let's face it, it really isn't, it's not a roleplaying game where you are building your character to fit you perfectly, each time you level up you may unlock a new ability, but it's exactly the same as in a game like call of duty as to when you level up you unlock a new perk or something. In the end of the day, each warlock, titan, and hunter will be almost the same as any others you will run into, except for the gear and the customized face you designed at the start. The leveling system is nothing cool or extensive like in a true RPG, it's similar to that seen in Battlefield, Halo, and Call of Duty, except in this game the number is constantly shown above your head to try and make it seem more important! At the end of the day this game is obviously successful already, Activision has some great marketing teams to get people to want to buy this game, but that's the thing, that's the sad part. Destiny sums up the gaming industry alone, where cool commercials sells more copies than if the game was actually good and deserved those sales. Destiny shows that more money goes into marketing and just selling the game over passion and creativity to actually make an extremely good game. This game had a massive budget, but most of it wasn't actually used for better development. Games now especially those under a big publishing house like Activision are meant to make money and that's it, not create art, not to make the consumer happy, but as long as the money is made that's all that matters to them. It saddens me that new gamers will have to deal with this greedy, greedy market, instead of just enjoy amazing games. Expand

I will admit it is a very visually striking game with many interesting facets to it, but is not a defining game for a new generation of consoles like many people think it should be. To me, it feels like an updated version of Halo for a new generation, which doesn't make it a bad game. But it doesn't mane it new or invigorating, either. If you were good at halo, you will be good at this game. If you were not a fan of halo, then you may want to look elsewhere for a sci-fi shooter.

So far, I am still enjoying the game, but I've only been playing it for around 10 hours and I'm not max level. I still have some stuff to do yet, but I'm not sure the game has enough staying power to last year's like some other franchises do. I found the narrative hokey and well-used, but the gunplay is tight and feels good, though it becomes rather repetitive after a few hours. The super attacks seem all but meaningless with the length of the recharge they have, so you may use them once or twice in a mission, but I rarely find myself wasting them in pvp. PVP does seem sort of imbalanced, but not overly so. Yes a level 1 can kill a level 20, but the level 20 will have bonuses from gear that maybe aren't factored in to leveling the playing field. Most classes play the exact same other than what their super attack does; non of the rpg leveling mechanics seem very different from one another. Which makes for bland encounters and, in my opinion, no reason to level more than one character.

Keep in mind these are just my personal opinions of the game, and though I find it a decent shooter, don't expect much depth. The world feels flat, lifeless since communication is limited to only fire teams which seems very un-mmo to me, just a single player game where I am forced to interact (or not) with other people in the same instance.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny, a game that my brother was so hyped up on. The leveling system for the classes are great, it like having the ability to switch to a different style of fighting which I find unique in it own way as well with the gear having a special attribute that you level up by killing npc enemies, the npc fighting pattens may seem pretty mediocre but they also have the ability to overwhelm the players, forcing them to actually retreat rather then charging in like a bull in a china shop. Many would say that it is a boarderland and halo joint together but what they didn’t have is players joining in mid fights, special events that allow you to work together for a common goal which is why I like it.

Now here comes my part that made me have a dislike for the game. The pvp, basic shooting, snipers, campers, overpowered vehicles, now all that is cool but what got me was the players ability to use the super abilities that can literally AoE one shot a flag group, one shot a player no matter where you aim at the body. A player is tested by skill, accurate precision shooting, flanking the enemy to get them by surprise and head shots which we all love to bits but the one addition thing that I do like was the ammo caches for your shotgun, fusion rifles and sniper bullets but did they really need to add tracking on it. It made it too easy for campers to kill unexpected enemies to simply press square and be head shotted by a sniper as you are trying to get special ammo or heavy ammo.

The story, well I liked it so far but I do believe that the story is smashed up into pieces like a broken mirror. The interact with the ghost and the player seems pretty dull, the missions seem pretty repetitive, kill, kill and oh yeah more kill. Also it would had more better if they had placed old vehicles in the battlefield rather then being able to summon a ride to anywhere, players like to be dumbfound by finding something pretty awesome like a old car, or bike but a hover bike that you can just summon seem like we giving the players less work. Also the grimoire that you collect should be put into like a journal as such to gain information is to access your ghost in-game not out game which is where it can annoy players who like information handed to them with ease then having to log in to a website.

From the start of the game, I must confess - you're immediately drawn to the edge of your seat. The gritty action in the early parts which have you LITERALLY running for your life (or resurrected life) get's the blood flowing and your heart pounding. Yet once you're immersed into the storyline of this game, which happens to be fairly bland, you at some point just lost the "Give a Damn" to even know what you're fighting for. The race to level up your character soon takes over, and that is your Main drive - even away from the laughable storyline. To add to the ridiculousness even more, the campaign is brief. I remember yelling into my microphone at one of my friends, "Is that it?" Yet it's obvious that Bungie aimed most of their focus for Destiny on the Fashion of the game and the gunpaly. By both of these I mean, the attire which you find yourself constantly grinding to find, and the weaponry - which no matter how much stronger your weapon is, the game still keeps you at a level. I know many of those who are past level 20 understand what I mean, when you're up against that same Boss that you've faced 50 times, only to find out that your NEW and STONGER weapon - really doesn't do much. Then comes the constant failures and shortcomings that Bungie is becoming known for within the game. NPC's who's items are supposed to refresh after an alotted time, placed near the bottom of the screen, or Harder Boss levels that you will DEFINITELY LOSE* due to the game being designed so you don't succeed on such difficulties, without at eleast failing once. And I could go into the horrible truth of how repetitive this game is, but I'd rather hit on another topic that makes one question how half a million dollars could go into creating this game, and the ONLY thing they could come up with is invading into a tomb, crypt or Vault - to take on - YOU GUESSED IT - another Boss... Usually much larger in size and far more dominant than the foot soldier's that you face getting there. Perhaps even MORE annoying than this, is the fact that Bungie actually thought that they could make a game, and pull a Rockstar... By this I mean, continually add to the game - as the player progresses - AND STILL keep it fun. I even heard it mentioned on one media source. that the plan was to make Destiny run for at least a decade with the added content. Yet I tell anyone looking to get this game... give it a week IF THAT - and it will run out of gas. My advice to Bungie, on the other hand - if you're REALLY thinking of selling the DLC content and all of the extra's due to be released... ... . . dont. What Destiny needs, is to regain fans that have been put-off by this game. A good way to do that, is to grant them free items since everyything within game - is such a struggle to attain. Expand

The game has no story, which can be fine. Look at how great old school video games are with minimal story, but Destiny is set in a universe that needs that depth. (There are occasional cut scenes. They are terrible) This is a video game though not a film. This lack of story was a flaw I was willing to write off. Until I reached level 20. Bungie pushes the fact that you'll be playing this game for years.... yeah maybe if you shell out all your cash for every expansion. The game has a max level cap of 30. You hit level 20 strictly by experience points and then level 21-30 comes from collecting light which comes on the armor you earn. The system for this leveling is completely broken and the mechanic that destroyed the game for me. Every single mission before level 20 was all about me making that progress. I felt every mission would make me a stronger guardian. The reason the light system is so broken is because it deals away with hard work and progress and replaces it with dumb luck. You could complete 3 strikes, essentially dungeon crawls, to obtain high level rewards and come out of every single one of them with absolutely no loot whatsoever while the guy you walked in with goes up 2 levels from light and he stood in the corner of the map half of the strike while you do all the work. How is that supposed to feel entertaining? Sounds a lot more like some people's mundane jobs where the lazy guy takes all the credit and the hard workers get nothing to show for. I can not continue to play this frustrating game because of this. Don't even get me started on some of the stuff you put up with during darkness zones while having "teammates" (random people you get stuck with who can sometimes be so bad you wish you could kick them, but you just can't. This is not an MMO why are you forcing me to play with YellowMoldeCheese?!) After beating all the main missions I am left with an unfinished game. I can't level up by doing anything other than playing the multiplayer or repeating previous missions. The previous missions get repetitive because now its not about gaining xp and grinding from killing enemies its only about beating the mission as a whole and hoping to god that you will pull out one piece of armor with just enough light to get you to the next level. It becomes time consuming and bland. The multiplayer has a few modes all of which feel similar with only slight variations. The lack of maps are stupid. The option or lack of an option to play any local multiplayer whatsoever is saddening. There is just nothing to keep you into this game past the 6 hour time it will take you to reach level 20 and by the time you've finished it that just doesn't feel like enough. The game ends so abruptly that they are forcing you to buy the DLC just to see how the main game ends. The story ends with not even a cliffhanger. Just sort of someone telling you oh this game hasn't even started. The entire length of the story in the main game didn't even have enough content to have a second act. The game is just act 1. That is the only reason Bungie and Activision think this game will have such a long lifespan is because they will be putting out DLC forever before you can find out one more tiny detail to this completely lack luster ambiguous story. Destiny was a great game in the start but the longer I delve into it I began to really see how under-developed the game was. Destiny is a lot like Fruit Stripe gum. You put it in your mouth and it is amazing and you wish it could last forever, but it quickly becomes stale and the next thing you know you're ready to spit it out. The game can give you great entertainment for 6 hours and hey that is great, but you can get that by renting it. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this game. Rent it. You'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Expand

Destiny is like a gorgeous girl outside, but donkey inside, great graphics, nice gameplay, nice RPG elements, nice planets and a nice story initiative, but very hollow universe, story and creatures that only are there to transmit you some kid of fun, some kind of motive to keep playing the game, but that motive is never shown, Destiny is totally not in Bungie's standard.

Bungie how far you've travelered since the days of Marathon and Myth. Having a game made by you use to mean intriguing story, amazing game play and hours of exploration. Now we've got destiny. Your most expensive game yet, but also your worst. Kind of surprising how you made a game with 6 races across 4 planets feel so empty and small.

The game is beautiful with surpior shooting machinics, that's the positive side , The negative side was also pretty much the same all around - No story as if it was written by an alabaster retard, Its a grind only game, game has no soul and it needs huge improvements.

This game took halo, Gutted out the story, Killed Master Chief and gave us 3 Different Spartans. Now lets also remember this game has had 4 years, a budget of $500,000,000 and had an Alpha and a Beta along with a team 140 QA testers. So why the hell are there so many flaws?

Fan boys are in denial, overall it seemed that this was the summary " Destiny is game that looks like it had everything that was awesome and interesting ripped out of it and had been replaced with the same 4 enimes and bullet sponge bosses " now it wasn't all negative they all agree that the Crucible is a hell of a lot of fun and it was clearly made by bungie.

So with all that said and done I see it like this " Destiny is game that has been put in beautiful atmosphere and made to look shiny and exciting well not really offering anything in the way of a story, The Multilayer is flawless and I LOVE it, I spent more time grinding aimlessly against weak enemies for decent armor Instead of doing Strike missions and story missions that should have offered a lot more in terms of rewards,"

Now I know there's updates coming to fix everything wrong with it but these are things they should have picked up in the beta, The fun parts of the game are when you can work side by side with a friend and destroy a mini boss or just go around and piss off other players that are grinding an exploit. So overall I enjoyed the Multilayer and see that as there strength, there story is summed up in the game trailer, Grinding is only fun if you know your going to get something out of it, The space ship is just a loading screen and They need to offer more interactivity in the tower.

So my score for a game that is going to last 10 years I give it a 5/10 , and if there going to use that as an excuse then that's not good enough as it felt more like a $70 demo with multilayer. And with that I wont be playing it for a long while so then I'll know that the bugs have been fixed and the DLC is out.

I played the Beta and found that more fun, also I have spent 75 hrs playing, have a Lv 25 Warlock and a Lv15 Hunter So yes I did give this game a fair run.

I still found the story to be flaky and to be honest could not grasp what the hell was going on. The only hook I found within the game was building and leveling up my character that was very addictive. The vast open world was extraordinary and a pleasure to look at, yet when I was doing missions I was consistently doubling back on myself and revisiting the same terrain it made the game dull at times, and was often the same mission over and over again, with you just having to warn off hoards of enemies while your companion does something.

Don't get me wrong Destiny is an open world like no other and that meeting complete strangers (who I have to say were all very nice people and not like people in COD) was brilliant and the team work was great, you felt you were taking on the world and the sense of achievement when you completed a task with your new mates was brilliant!

As long as you put the time and effort into the game you may get what you want out of it. As far as I can tell Budgie have said they will be developing this world, this game over the next 10 years. If that is the case I may revisit it in 10 years time but at the moment it did not live up to the hype and expectations for me.

As a side note I can't make a comment on Destiny's story because I had no idea what was going on, the game doesn't bother to explain it and just expects you to read a wiki of the internet. Because nothing says immersion like having to use google to work out what is going on in the game.

Forget the story, halo is laughable by itself so what do you expect? Before reaching the light grinding it was really pretty fun getting around the universe and accustom to the mechanics and anticipating the renowned VOG!

    Graphics
Stunning, esp the character models, they are sharp, crisp smooth. truly Next Gen (PC)!

    Art Direction
The exotics armour with effects like sun breakers will make you drool but another half of then exotics are plain junks like raspberry armour? gorgeous stunning atmosphere of moon and delicious Venus comes a bummer of pukey Mars which is a finale planet so to speak? it the extreme of dedication and lazy work which is extremely disappointing. it like they hired some poor freelancers to fill in the numbers with no quality control.

    Gameplay
Top notch shooter with unique game changer skill sets. the elements are pretty interesting but under ultised. The only weapon type that shines is fusion rifles the rest are plain generic.

    Level Design
like i have mentioned before, its the extreme of fantastic level of VOG to the trash of missions/strikes. Do they even play their own game? i really wonder. its like selling a stapler in starbucks.

    Game Mechanic
the idea is there "MMO" like but it falls flat game breaking to decide to rely on light level. everything is meaningless unless you get the raid armours which end up everyone will look the same with some variation. your best weapons are pointless if your light lv is lower than the enemies. don't get me started with the RNG rewards, its the most frustration experience you can have or vice verse.

    Social
the cream of the modes like nightfall n raids does not have match making, forcing sites like LFG to be critical, don't even talk about clan, its broken...you need "nice" pple to play with or even better with friends which is another down or up for a better experience

    Multiplayer
all the nonsense with balancing just screws up PVE, weapons are already normalised but why does it has to affect PVE? great experience imo but lacking to please the hardcores. Severely lacking in scale of a title call DESTINY...a 12 v 12 game mode at least will be chaotically fun. instead new modes are getting like 2 v 2...

-Different classes add new strategy to PVP and co-op
-Co-op/fire teams make the game better
-More content post leveling. Having the strike missions and bounties gives me good reason to play the game after the so called 'story' of the game

    Cons:
-PVP balance is not that balanced. While damage is normalized between players, abilities aren't. A level 20 player is going to have a lot more abilities on their armor and class than someone who is level 3, who can't even double jump.
-Getting gear is hard. I'm not saying it needs to be super easy but at the point it is now, people are leaving the game because the algorithm that gives gear is just too stringent. Bungie can learn from D3 where they kept upping the percentage of rare drops and reducing the randomness of the items
-Lackluster story. There could be SO MUCH potential for the story but nothing gets explained. Who are the awoken and exo? Where do they come from? Who is the traveller? Why is it just a ball? What is the darkness? Can't just be the fallen or the Vex or whoever else we fight because they fight each other too
-For an MMO type game, it lacks a lot of MMO aspects like trading between players and expansive world. We are only given portions of each planet we're on. I'd rather one FULL world than 4 partial worlds. But that's just me. I do still wish the Earth had more to it. After the destruction of Earth, the last place I care about is RUSSIA of all places.

All in all, this is a decent game. I'm still playing it because I want one of each class and because it's a good game overall, but I have to say that it has a lot of repairs.

The whole idea of visiting other planets in our solar system was an awesome concept and for its time the graphics picturing how these worlds would look were very detailed. But that is how far Destiny travels. The game's story line is weak and repetitive. End game is a major short fall. One of the biggest issues with the game is lack of matchmaking, a huge problem in a game that requires multiple players to beat certain missions. In one year the developers announced a sequel which really flattens the idea of this game being classed as a true MMORPG. The multiplayer is average, not great but really not that bad. Overall the game was a disappointment and even with recent patches and DLC's Destiny constantly comes undone with the lack of end game content. For the trophy hunters, the game is relatively easy to platinum with the exception of one trophy "Flawless Raider". This trophy requires a group of highly skilled players to not die a single time in a raid. September 2014, my dreams came true... sort of.

    -Story-

There isn't. From what I recall, you are this city's only hope from evil forces coming in blah blah blah. I couldn't tell what was going on as I was too busy interested shooting some poor aliens skull in. The addition of the grimore cards to try and expand the plot elements don't really make a difference to the story whatsoever.

    -Gameplay-

The gunplay in the game is very good and the option to upgrade it is nice as well. The addition of bounties and strikes add difficulty to the game. Only problem is that they are all the same really. Typically its go out, shoot some aliens, go and wait for that robot to work his magic whilst you shoot some more, shoot boss, done. That will be the same for most of the bounties (some bounties you have to collect something). Raids I have played and its one of the highlights of the game, as you need team communication to complete it.

    -Multiplayer-

Plays a bit like COD but more floaty and less dying at spawn. If you have high ranking guns and a fusion rifle, then you're set for the game.

    -DLC-

Now, I haven't got any of the DLC's for Destiny as it's around £20 for one, which is the price of a second hand game. For a few maps, weapons raid and a strike, that is a bit too much (yes, I know, the DLC's for COD mostly had 4 maps plus a goodie, but they were £11).

Overall, I can't really see myself playing Destiny that much due to the repetitive nature of it. Endgame is the same as story, grind and repeat, grind and repeat.

    Borderlands, anyone?

At times, the game borders on outright agony due to the way the loot system is set up. First off this is a very nice looking game, just don't look up close at the textures. The vistas and landscape is where it really shows the lighting and shadows. The game-play is very comparable to Borderlands , It gives you a some what open world to explore and grind over and over for those legendary pieces of gear. Just like Borderlands this game is best played with friends, You can go without but you will free like you are missing out. Destiny gives you a fair amount of missions to complete and repeat over and over, as well as strike missions witch will end in a boss and almost always give you some kind of gear. By the end of the game you are left to basically repeat story/strike missions to complete bounties and hopefully have some kind of super cool gear drop. There is also the crucible (Player Vs Player) that you can play from the just about the start of the game, But is definitely best played at level 20+. Bungie recently released there first raid mission as well called "Vault Of Glass" and with all those things to complete once you hit max level it leaves with with a fair amount to stuff to do. But once you have played the missions to death, are tired of the Crucible and can't get a raid group together you are kind of bored of it all. It's not the feeling you want , luckily Bungie is adding new DLC and Events to keep people playing.
If you are a fan of Borderlands/Diablo or even Halo you will enjoy this game to some extent, but this game is definitely not for everyone and won't be enjoyed by anyone who hates grinding for gear or halo type multiplayer.

Not impressed, Level , enemy, gameplay design is very, very basic and feels pretty dated. There is practically no story at all in the story mode?

Enemy/boss ecounters are pretty repetitive, pump bullets into boss, kill adds.. repeat..

With Destiny 2 around the corner I thought I’d give the original Destiny a try to see what all of the fuss is about...
And apparently it’s the expansions because it’s not here in the base game...
And with activision shutting down multiplayer modes for those expansions the month this review comes out I’m not going to even bother them...
So while I’m sure Destiny is now this great experience with all its ad ons...
I’m going to just talk about the base game which is a repetitive and boring joke…
Destiny is a competitive and cooperative online only first person shooter where you play as 1 of 3 classes and create your own character
As an aggressive player I played as a titan..
There are 2 bases in this game that you turn in your quest progress 2, get new missions, fork out your real life cash for any weapons that are worth anything from loot boxes and get back to the grind of being a guardian…
    This game is co op...
But through my entire 9 hour journey in story mode I only had team mates in one mission…
The story mode is practically dead…
So you’re going to have to grind through this excuse of a story mode yourself…
Worse is that all 9 hours take place on the same 4 maps…
the missions just take your deeper into these maps each time..
There are some loot boxes here that are like playing a game of where waldo to find them...
so I just stuck to getting my loot from missions and enemy drops…
Leveling up in this game gives you upgrades for your grenades and suit
though the game doesn’t seem to balance in terms of xp if you are playing alone so late game missions are extremely frustrating..
I was playing through the final story mission at only level 14 because of how slow the game was handing levels out because it assumes I’m going to grind through boring story missions over and over or that I’m playing with other people…
I felt like I had to keep playing in these annoying no respawn zones over and over that would reset every time I died…
But these missions are all the same thing of bring up your ghost, go to a point on the map and shoot all of the stuff until there’s no more stuff to shoot rinse and repeat..
There is a competitive team based mode of 6vs6 like call of duty which is the best part of Destiny as a base game...
Here level advantages are taken away, but you’ll level up way faster than the story mode, you’ll get loot drops, and you’ll have way more fun doing it…
IF you were thinking about giving destiny a try before destiny 2 comes out there’s absolutely no reason to
there’s nothing here worth your time
    Give Destiny
    a 6/10

Originally, I would have given this game a 7.5, but after the dlc and lack of proper updates, Bungie has shown incompetence in developing a game in this genre--especially since other games already exist in some form or another (Warframe being closest) within this genre for a couple years. It's as if they learned nothing with mmorpg-esque games. Because right now, the grind is incredibly boring. There is no randomness to maps or enemies like other grind games. And the RNG (random number generator) for loot is one of the worst in games.

Also, for a game that spews "social," there is no ingame chat to help with finding groups for modes that have no matchmaking. You have to go on your phone or pc, find somebody on an external site or forum, invite them to your party chat, then invite them again within the game. It's a horribly unproductive process. Also, there is no use for the most part to clans...yet.

The dlc (or "expansion" to Bungie) is regurgitated maps from the main game and mostly same weapons with just a new cover look. The story is still nonexistant except for on your pc or phone in grimoire cards.

Quite simply, the game is only good for maybe 60 hours unless you like to play the same, exact thing over and over again with little story and reward. If they added some depth to enemies and randomness to them--like Warframe, Diablo 3, or any other grind game--it would have helped tremendously, but they did not. You will literally fight the exact same scripted layout with maybe some minor, predetermined 'combat' modifiers.

Truthfully, I would recommend waiting till Destiny 2 to invest in this series cause you are not missing much...except that cash you wasted on this.

Have you ever played a game that kept you in the mood to keep going, and to continue the game until you got bored of it? Well this is what describes Destiny.

    Basics:
Destiny is a first person shooter developed by Bungie and published by Activision. The point of the game is to level up your character, making you stronger the more you play, you fight monsters in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere. You have a "Ghost" companion helping you out (voiced by Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage), who tells you the story on how the alien race you face in the game has taken over the universe, and that's where it goes in terms of story telling. The game seems to throw you in without giving you enough information on what you need to know about this alien race you are facing.

    Gameplay:
At the very start you have the option to choose whatever race you want to play, there is an option what gender you would like to be. You can spoof up your character by adding some color and miscellaneous items. After creating your hero you are awoken by your new companion robot, you are immediately asked to go find a weapon and a ship to go to the main town of the game.
Once arriving at the main town of the game you are asked to explore more of the once populated Earth, the missions given are different, they all take place in the same land, but different. There are the main story missions which you can do to explore some of the later planets farther in the game, and there are side missions. Side missions can be found by selecting "Patrol Mission" on the map screen, you earn awards and level up the more you do. The down side to the patrol missions is most of them are the same type of mission like, "Go kill these guys" or "Kill this boss" or "Find a specific object", and sense this game involves around real life time, these missions will repeat the next day, it just gets old after a while.
There are missions offered in the main town, you can do bounties for extra loot and level up faster, which is the fastest way to leveling up. The bounties are all different, but you will very likely get some of the same ones you had from the previous day, this is another repetitive feature to the game. You can buy more equipment by spending the currency that is dropped by the species you face.

    Multiplayer:
This is a big factor in the game, other players will be exploring just like you are. You can team up with other players in the over world, there is also a PvP option, but that requires Playstation Plus if you have Plasystation, or Microsoft Gold if you have Xbox. The PvP option (called "The Crucible") has different modes like capture the flag, deathmatch, capture the point, etc. You start off waiting to find players to play with, it can take a while, but you will eventually get into the game. Depending on whatever game mode you picked you will have to do the objective to win the game.
The gameplay itself is overall fun, but again, it just gets old after awhile. Depending on what level you are when you start, you will always play against players that have a higher level than you. The game encourages you to keep playing by giving you crucible marks and other loot after each match. The loot you obtain can range from a low level to a legendary level (being the highest rated level), you can also spend some of the crucible marks you are awarded at the crucible shop at the main town.
Overall the multiplayer mode is just another way to convince players to continue playing the game, it is not a bad idea, but the fact you need membership is just the downside to this feature.
There are also strikes, strikes are side missions you can do to level up your character. Strikes can only be played with 3 players, any players less the harder the strike will be. You fight your way through with the random players you are assigned to work with, each strike has an objective, the objective you are given will depend on how hard it is. At the end of each strike you will obtain loot and experience to level up your character.

    Final Opinion:
Overall Destiny is fun and visually stunning, but the game gets boring after reaching level 20, which is the maximum you can go, you can obtain equipment to go beyond that level. I would say the only reason to keep playing is if you are addicted to the multiplayer if you have no other FPS Multiplayer game you have. Destiny tries so hard by adding new things to the game, but it just does not work, sure the expansions sound cool, it just is not enough to keep players entertained. Destiny's gameplay is like Borderlands, just remove the open world aspect and you have something that is less entertaining. I only recommend Destiny if you are looking for something to have fun for a while or have friends that play this game, otherwise skip, there is really no reason to buy a game that is only good for the first 2 weeks of gameplay.

There is no doubt in my mind that this game is addictive but to be honest the only reason I kept playing was because there was nothing else at the time of its release and all my friends were playing this. Mechanically, this game is one of the best first person shooters ive ever played and the visual/sound design were magnificent. But even the mechanics get dull when enemies feel exactly the same and main bosses require no strategy other than shooting it in the face a million times. Even the most beautiful scenery gets boring when i'm dropped into the exact same area and run through the exact same buildings to do the exact same mission. The initial 3-4 hours with this game are great but when you tear away at the layers you realise just how hollow it truly is. Taking a new character to the max level does add some re-playability to the game but the guns are still the same and eventually you realise the characters are just cosmetically different and their abilities are slight alterations of each other (seriously a warlock's nova bomb is essentially the same area of effect damage as a titan's fist of havoc). PvP is this games only redeeming factor but even that feels empty when compared to other games such as HALO, COD or battlefield which have better progression, more interesting maps and better game modes. The social aspect of this game isnt great because at any given time you are only part of a 3 or 6 man team plus poor or non-existent matchmaking completely ruins most of its limited content. It should never be considered as a MMO, not even close.

I really did want this game to be something special, and that is why it is such a disapointment, it was made by developers who created one of my all time favourite games but practices by them and the publishers have completely put me off any future developments. There are so many other games out now that give you so much more content for a fraction of the price of this game and all of its DLC. Opening the case for the first time and you're greeted with a card that tells you to buy the season pass for the next two expansions before you even touch the disc! This bring me back to the point its the 'most expensive game ever made', I cant help but feel that the majority of that money went on advertising and false promises instead of actually developing the game. Fair play to the advertising department they earned their paychecks with amount of hype they generated with their trailers. My advice is to never believe in the hype for a game and to wait for the 'game of the year' edition where you can buy the entire game and its DLC for the original price as its release day. Even then this game would be considered painfully average at best.

I have played the game since release on PS4 and have thus far purchased all DLC for this game. Let me first start with the positive aspects of this game.
When it comes to game play destiny is one of the best. The shooting, the NPC's, and the game play itself is amazing. I don't feel like there is major bugs (anymore), and the small open worlds are easy to navigate, and full of things to do. The NPC's are still challenging even when you max at your level, and they have enough AI to make it fun to shoot them.
Another good aspect of this game is PVP. It is fun, and even lower level players can enter the arena and do fairly decent. The only complaint I have for this is that it seems gear almost has no meaning when fighting other players. I was one hit killed by a level 2 player the other day, and with the equipment I possess this should be impossible, but I understand Bungie has to even things out, and this is a minor issue, so I will not put it as a complete negative.
Now on the bad side of things...and there is a lot. First, there is practically no story line to this game, and the small tidbits you get make no sense. It is almost as if an entirely different game was made, and then someone went in there and cut it all up; keeping only certain pieces of the original. Now I have read and watched several reviews, and they all seem to state the Destiny we now see, is not the Destiny originally planned, and the lack of story line spawns from a need for the company to make money from DLC. Which is of course shameful if true.
Second, the game is horribly repetitive. Even as the DLC's came out it was the same reputation missions as before. Plus there was no extra story give with the DLC's. I am not even sure what the point of Dark Below was. It didn't educate me on the Hive, nor did it do anything to make me further understand why I was fighting them...or what their purpose of fighting me was for that matter. Really it just seemed like I was fighting for loot and that was it. House of Wolves seem to continue this trend, by making a few missions without explaining why you are doing them, or why the fallen are even a threat. What was the point of cutting up the game for DLC if you weren't going to further explain aspects of the game? Was it only about loot?
Third, the drops by NPC's are laughable. I have spent countless hours on this game to get somewhat decent equipment, however none of it came from NPC drops. All of it came from either Xur, exoctic bounties, PVP, or Nightfall end of mission rewards. I have never once; in my countless hours of playing, received a legendary drop from a NPC. This is also true of the people I play the game with. Why even have loot drop if nothing good ever comes out of it?
It seems to me (and for many), that this game could have been one of the greats, but corporate greed destroyed what might have been one of my all time favorite games. I hope this changes in the future, or I will never buy or play another Destiny sequel or DLC.

Also, the missions are repetitive the same thing happens but in a different background.

You need to kill some aliens (whatever the hell the enemies in the game are.) and get to a ship and that's it.

The story is ok I suppose but barely.

    The presentation is also ok.

This game still has positives though,

    +Like the online obviously

    +The character customization

    +Some nice cutscenes

    +Interesting backgrounds.

But the game still disappoints for a game that uses 'Next generation first person shooter' as a slogan.

    First Person Shooter Aspect

Can't complain, it was done well. Coming from a series that spawned Halo, you know that the shooter aspect was going to be good. The controls are really responsive and give you the option to tweak the aiming speed etc. The balancing of weapons, well its a double edge sword because people will have different opinions and complaints on why their favourite gun has been nerfed and the gun they use least is OP. All I can say that it's a plus that Bungie have regular updates and monitor the usage of each gun and make changes if need be.

    RPG Aspect

Character creation is meh. 3 different species Human, Robot or Ascended Human. No difference between them apart from the type of dance emote they do. Could of gave them species perks to adapt to the players playstyle Eg. Elder Scrolls. The classes IMO are good, adopting the Hunter (ThiefRogue/DPS), Titan (Tank/Defence Support) and Warlock (Mage/Heals/Support). After the Taken King they employed another Class type to interchange them especially giving the Hunter a much needed support special.

After the Taken King Expansion, they've finally got the levelling correct. Getting good gear is still a big, long grind. The rewards on Crucible are still pathetic where 1st gets the **** gear compared to last. My friends joke around saying to play well but not come first to get good loot.

    Replayability

I'm still playing it whenever a new update comes in. A lot of players gave up on it, which I can understand. But I have a close knit of gamer friends who play just for fun as the Co Op in this game especially the Raids are second to none...apart from guess what?...the loot drops : ( (endless grinding!!!). Don't have any friends to game with? Look around for Clans, there are lots to choose from and most are very helpful.

Overall, a 6 praising the shooter component, the gear (even though its a grind to collect), Co Op and PvP. regular updates and events (the Sparrow Racing Event was a good change). I don't really play it anymore, but will jump on when my friends are on. That 10 year plan they have for this game...I don't think so.

    - 1 To most story missions that have been recycled over and over
    - 1 To the endless grind of loot (they should take pointers from Division and Borderlands)
    - 2 To the reward system on Crucible (PvP)

This game has very addicting gameplay but doesn't offer enough content to keep you playing. I loved the atmosphere 8/10, the main story should be longer and better 6/10. I paid for the game with all dlcs 28€ so I'm pretty much okay with the game but If I would pre-order it, I would definitely be extremely mad for the content and the expansion pass which doesn't offer anything. I would expect that Expansion pass will offer new worlds and stories like Taken King and Rise of Iron but they are just **** After month, you'll be done with the game and even If you will want to play it again, you will have nothing to do there other than same activities without any rewards like heroic strikes, even nightfall after you hit 400 light. You should be able to get even 410 light but that armor high should drop only in raids. It shouldn't be that easy to get max light. I hope Destiny 2 will be better. Expand

The first person shooter mechanics are admittedly solid, and will feel instantly familiar to Halo or old Call of Duty players, so credit where credit is due. Post-update, the looting system is much more generous than it was, and that feeling when you find a legendary weapon or piece of armour is something you will want to experience.

However, the content in this release of Destiny is laughable, and the fact that Bungie and Activision will try to justify this with a season pass is a very worrying aspect for future big releases. Horrendous voice acting by that one from Game of Thrones does not help this game's cause either, even he sounds bored.

This could have been an even lower score if the Vault of Glass wasn't so enjoyable, but the fact that you can't matchmake for it and MUST gather a group of 6 is quite bizarre. 5 is an average and disappointing score, for an average and disappointing game.

This is a decent game that gets very repetitive and is very easy to lose interest fast. Another way over hyped game, Worth a one time play through at best.

Character creation as well as customization is a complete joke, and beyond the high level of differences between the classes you'll be shocked to discover that many other players well have the exact same gear as you. The world is interesting, and the music is beautiful. But that's not what a video game is for, and if the experience is only good because of the extras around the core purpose, then sadly that makes Destiny, at best, mediocre. Expand

Yes this is 2 and half years from release, but in retrospect Destiny had great gunplay, wonderful atmosphere and concepts that did manage to tip the scale more positive than negative. It is just a shame Bungie released it as that (when looking at it currently in 2017) instead of a much grander game. Vanilla Destiny was decent overall, but with alot of problems present, it is hard to say if the idea and main concepts were too big for Bungie to tackle. Expand

This is a very disappointing game from a game company that's had their fair share of gaming hits. The story mode and online are fun but not great. I found the hub to not be amazing and not organized. I enjoyed the story when it started and going to new planets but that faded quickly. It was still fun to play though.

I realized i completed 1 of the 4 worlds in the beta and that all the missions followed the same guidelines, despite a few different objectives but the same idea overall. and then in one day, literally one day i beat the games story. Im not saying a whole day, more like 8 hours. Now i understand that the game really opens up with raids and PVP after the story, but they got stale for me quick. PVP had a good idea but overall after doing the same thing 30+ times you get the idea and want a bit of variety, and unfortunately there wasn't enough diversity to keep me interested for very long. I have heard all of the expansions really do improve the game, and whilst the base game itself isn't a fail in terms of being a first person shooter, i didn't see and justification for paying for what should have been the game to begin with. Destiny isn't a good game, in fact i find it disappointing and very boring after the 10 hour mark, but its not a bad game. Expand

I feel destiny gets more hate than it deserves. The game play its self is fine, but is lacking in content ( a 7 hour story), and multiplayer is decent. The game design and the different worlds look amazing, overall a pretty decent game : )

Bungie's Destiny IS a fun and enjoyable game, for about an hour and a half. This game is nothing but a pay to win game with very overpriced DLC. The story is very lazy and the characters are bland. But in the end, I loved the gameplay and graphics but that's about it.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
