I am writing this review to correct for an earlier review which I now believe is in need of an update. I had previously rated this game a 9, having played it much more extensively I have revised my opinion to a seven. The reasons for this are as follows:

The game should only be played with friends. If you have plenty of friends to play with this game will feel like an 8 or a 9. If you've got numerous and regular gaming buddies; it is probably one of the best games on next gen. I have played almost the entirety of my time with mates and it has been, for the most part, very enjoyable. The gameplay is excellent and exceedingly polished. That said, if you are ever unfortunate enough to have to play by yourself, or with randoms, you will likely find it much less enjoyable. This is because...

There is no story. This is not strictly true; there supposedly is a very deep and fascinating story, we just dont get to see any of it. There's a moment near the start where Bill Nighy says to your character something along the lines of "I could tell you of the battle that raged hundreds of years ago, i could tell you of [insert other crucial piece of context here]" but he doesn't, and neither does anyone else. It makes for an incredibly uncompelling campaign. There are a lot of reviews here spouting "in media res!" acrimoniously like everyone's suddenly a classics scholar and/or a lawyer. This is rather besides the point. The problem is not how the story is told but that it is not told at all. There is quite simply almost no story content whatsoever. The vast majority of the storyline is communicated either via the mission headings in the navigation menu or through running commetry from Peter Dinklage. That character is awful by the way. Genuinely, every line he speaks is so incredibly banal it actually sucks the fun from the game. Regardless, most of the time you will only have a vague idea of what is going on and you will almost certainly not care. Poor or sparse narration can be made up for by a rich game world, Destiny fails on this count also. The tower is more sterile than most hospitals. Pick the crappiest most rubbish hub from any of mass effect 1,2 or 3; it is twice as interesting as the tower. Honestly, penguin chat is better than the tower. It is sparsely populated with npcs, none of whom will talk to you, most of which will sell you a selection of five items. In most cases; two of them you cant use and three of them are rubbish. Now this changes a bit at high level, mainly because you can now use all the items but they now all suck. Once you realise that the tower is totally devoid of content you may attempt to explore beyond its walls. Don't bother, there really is nothing unique or special hiding anywhere in the gameworld. Golden chests can result in some good loot, but every significant landmark or area will be reached in the course of the campaign which, for better or worse, is pretty brief. There is no hidden lore. The grimoir cards are an interesting addition, but have no appreciaable effect upon the games failed narrative.

The PvP is great fun, but it's not Halo. Bungie has delivered an impressive PvP experience that feels and plays a lot like a Halo game. This is not a bad thing, seeing as it was one of the greatest multiplyer series of all time. Those who have played Halo will realise that it isn't quite as tight as Halo 3/4/Reach and simply doesn't provide the same kind of variety of game types that those games did. There are also some persitant server side issues, be prepared for a statistically unlikely number of simultaneous deaths.

Overall, the game gives the impression that it is somehow unfinished. The total amount of content isn't particularly large for such a big release. Occasional foibles suggest a lack of attention to detail. For example; Warlock players will be disappointed that many of their class items look completely identical, meanwhile the Titans peacock around with their considerable variety of towels. Furthermore the item descriptions are a somewhat disjointed, and appear to have all been written by an exhausted intern over a two hour period. "Titan armour is heavy enough to crack stone" Really? How fascinating.

Destiny isn't bad, but I don't like it. The multiplayer isn't good enough to make me leave BF4 or Titanfall and the single player story is nowhere near Halo 4. In single player, I feel that i'm playing an MMO alone...do this and do that. Hold that position, grind gear. I would give Destiny a 8 if the MP was more balanced without annoying "supers".

The hype train really ran away with this title. I remember the E3 videos that gave me the impression I would be exploring vast landscapes with my friends, who dropped in via a nice looking ship entrance. I remember the E3 videos that gave me the impression I would be exploring vast landscapes with my friends, who dropped in via a nice looking ship entrance. I also remember the ghost robot having character, one scene where he offers to switch on the lights in a dark dungeon and then flies off muttering some amusing patter had me believing that he would resemble "Wheatley", the hilarious robot from Portal 2.

The game feels diluted from what we were shown and told it would be. That does not make it a zero though, in fact there is a lot of fun to be had once you cancel your expectations from E3.

The shooting is fun and the controls are solid. The locations look really good and the sounds compliment the atmosphere well. Once the loot system gets a hook into you it does not let go and there is always the temptation for "just one more" to see if you can unlock that next rare item or skill upgrade. It feels good to race around some of the missions with friends on the shrike vehicles. The pvp feels well put together and is enjoyable at this stage. Those who like the grind will benefit from the contracts that can be completed in exchange for xp. There is definitely scope here to expand on this new IP and that is what a lot of people have been waiting for since the new consoles released.

The game is nowhere near a 10 either. The locations, whilst looking great, are not large enough. The enemies are not intelligent or varied in their attack methods. There are not a great variety of enemies. there is not enough variety in weapons from the same family ie a level 1 shot gun will not operate in a different way to a level 20 shot gun only the inflicted damage seems to be the difference. Those who remember the gun porn from borderlands will be expecting more and although you will not find as many mediocre weapons as there were in borderlands, they also feel quite tame in comparison.

Speaking of borderlands it is worth noting that this game takes itself more seriously than borderlands. The humor is replaced with an emphasis on tension. The option to dance with other players feels a little out of place in this universe.

In summary the game is good and if handled correctly there are many directions that Bungie could take the ip with fresh dlc and new ideas (new weapon types, new vehicle types, Forza style customization options for absolutely everything, multiplayer random game type events like the Gears of War series used to come up with.) to shake things up once it becomes stale. In a dry market this is well worth your time and in its current state the game is a solid seven.

This game is not horrible like some of the user reviews put it, yes it is repetitive and the story line is kinda crap but there is a fun part of leveling up your weapons and stuff so it is not a bad game its not a 0,1,or 2 that some idiots put it as its fun for grinders but it needs improvement.

With the loss of Joe Staten, Lead Writer, a year before launch and the legal issues with Marty (composer) it seems that what we were supposed to receive and what we did receive were two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. The game appears to have been butchered and bastardized by the monetization division of Activision - cutting all meaning out of the game to be sold in some odd fashion as DLC.

A terrible disappointment for those of us who actually thought that there would be something of significance in Destiny. I look forward to seeing what Joe Staten will do with Game of Thrones with Telltale, where writing is valued.

RPG? Protip: Character development involves meaningful choices. There are virtually no RPG elements to this game. You have no skill paths, no influence on the story, and nothing that differentiates you from every other character beyond what gear you're wearing.

Sure, you can choose slight variations on skills as you level up - like do you want your grenade area to be bigger, or maybe have it deploy mini-grenades. That's not character development people. Yes, at higher levels you can choose the ONE sub-class or not. Woohoot.

So, it's a pretty decent FPS shooter with an okay story and Peter Dinklage mailing in some voice acting as the Ghost. But it is NOT an MMO or an RPG by any definition of those terms.

This game is made by art directors! It’s really beautiful, nice-looking weapons, nice looking locations, nice looking enemies, nice looking armor and etc. The idea of presenting game as semi-open world crating the illusion of real MMORG is nice too.

Though they forgot to hire gameplay director, as game is repetitive and unsatisfying. One run through campaign and it’s getting boring.

Though they forgot to hire gameplay director, as game is repetitive and unsatisfying. One run through campaign and it’s getting boring. (Very short run in 6-8 hours tops) Re-playing missions on higher difficulty is useless. It yields no real reward just more time to complete against tougher enemies.

Experience based level cap limited to 20. It’s ridiculous. To get higher level special items are needed that are hard to find. The best option to buy weapons sing special currency, though with price of up to 150 units per gun and getting only 2-4 per 20 min mission is just too much. Raids automatic match making is unavailable, so I need to have friends available or find someone to join me. I suppose spending time finding or organizing people and not playing is sucks.

The game has a potential, though boring and repetitive gameplay that requires a lot of time to get new stuff and so new level is discouraging. I thing only gamers with A LOT OF FREE TIME will get fun out of it.

    Oh, yeh. Deathmatch sucks.

Overall I enjoyed playing it but fell it could be better. Now I know some of you were greatly disappointed from this but this is why you do not let the hype of a game overtake you. It just makes you even more upset when it was not exactly what you were hoping for. Stuff in real life is not as good as the things we imagine them to be. But keep in mind that MMOs add things later on to make them better. Hopefully they will see the problems were finding, fix them and make the game as great as we hoped.

The graphics in this game are top notch and it really utilizes the power of the next gen of consoles. The scenery is beautiful, well crafted, and really draws you in as you play through the different planets.

The story mode though.. or lack there of is pretty unimaginative from what we are used to from Bungie. I can honestly say that there were no unique missions in this game. 90 percent is go to one area. Protect ghost. Fight a horde. Protect., Also the end game consists of specialized matchmaking for higher level instances of what was already completed. I hope updates are fast from Bungie.. because the same 5 dungeons in end game to grind away to keep leveling.. gets old quick. There is no real end game as of yet but maybe that can change since Bungie will be updating.

Crucible, the multiplayer mode, is loads of fun. But nothing new here.. Deathmatch, Capture point control, and free for all is pretty much the main stays here. Bungie rolls out specialized play lists from time to time though. For example, more vehicles, defend missions, etc The learning curve may be a bit high for some but after leveling in the story mode you should have an idea of how to control your player as you get some PVP in.

Currently im level 26 in Destiny and having fun getting loot and running crucible online. This game is not a MMO. If you come into this expecting that.. you will be disappointed. But if you approach it as decent online shooter with some MMO-type features here and there? There is a good amount of fun to be had.

It looks beautiful.. handles like a dream through the controller.. But it's just a bit too repetitive. And the rewards are just stronger weapons and armor. Also the ability to play past missions at a harder level if you consider that a reward.. This base game here has potential to allow for some amazing growth but as it is now? It's just another FPS with some MMO-type features for character progression. Hopefully Bungie will build it into something truly epic and really embrace the next generation of gaming on consoles.

You play as one of the warriors known as the guardian accompanied by a flying robot voiced by Game Of Thrones star, Peter Dinklage. Your mission is to fight back, awaken the traveler and rebuild the human civilization. You begin by creating your guardians race and appearance and you will have to choose between 3 classes, each with their own skills and upgrades. Titans are good for close range, Hunters are good for stealth and long range and WarLock have magical powers that can be used for offence and protection.

Destiny has RPG and MMO elements. It is spread into 5 main worlds. The Moon, Mars, Earth, Venus and the Tower. Each world has its own enemies, interactions, materials, weapons and loots to collect.

You will come across other players in the world that will help you if needed and you will gain experience points gained from the multiplayer that can also be used for upgrading your equipment, character and abilities on the main campaign. You start on the Tower before heading to other planets. The Tower is you Hub and is the place where you will come back for new weapons, items and to socialize with other players; however, it is a shame that the Tower has little interaction as it would have been a lot of fun if you were able to interact more.

You will come across 4 different alien races that you will face. The Hive, Fallen, Vex, and Cabal and each of their armies have their own battle tactics. The 10 to 11 hour campaign can be played solo; however, to really enjoy the game, you will have to play with others. There is the Strikes which is designed for a total of 3 players were you will have to kill large waves of enemies and fight a boss at the end of the level and once you complete level 5, you will unlock the Crucible which is the online multiplayer that includes 6 game modes and competing in them unlocks rewards.

The game is fun with solid game-play and good gun mechanics and the music does a good job setting the mood. The world of Destiny is huge and the attention to detail is beautiful with everything running smoothly. Leveling up and looting is addictive and the progression system is nicely done.

The RPG elements weren't as strong as I hoped for and I felt that many missions were repetitive. The overall story didn't draw me in. It was dry and not emotional. The characters were weak and lacked personality and none of them were memorable; however. the fun and solid gun-play with a variety of weapons highly compensates.

Destiny is an overall good game that is made to play with others. This is where the game shines and this is were you will have the most fun in.

First of all, to get the negatives out of the way. The first thing that should strike you is the generic-ness of it - we land on Mars, in what could be a lovely homage to classical sci-fi, but instead we get a bland and basic lecture about The Darkness, which is supposedly engulfing Light, and then you're thrust into the game with The Fallen chasing you with no explanation as to who they are or why they're dangerous, or what they're even for. An excellent demonstration of what we're to expect - embarrassing nomenclature combined with factions and backstory that aren't included in the game itself, you have to go to their website to read up on it.

Undoubtedly a beautiful game, the graphics are wasted on dull level designs, lacking in any significant character. Perhaps my favourite of all of them was Venus, though even that lacked anything that distinguished it from any other garden or jungle type map in any other game. The influences of The Vex on the planet seemed negligible. Nothing seemed to indicate any kind of culture - The Hive's possessed places were identical to that of The Fallen's, only with squishy grey pods on the wall. They all occupied human buildings and never seemed to expand on their own or give themselves any characterisation beyond a different model to shoot at.

It's also disappointing that there are only 4 total free-roam locations, and all of them quite small. There's nothing more annoying than having such a visually stunning game be limited so severely, especially when you spend most of your time inside stock sci-fi metal corridors anyway. The Nav System is practically useless and you can't access any sort of a map, so good luck getting lost while trying to explore for the sake of exploring. You'll be backtracking a lot, and it'll lose a lot of its sense of wonder.

Your character classes are also superfluous, and don't seem to matter. Usually you would need a balanced party to succeed in any serious dungeon-delving experience in any other game like this, but it doesn't seem so here. The classes seem superficially different, with all the same types of skills - a grenade, a double jump, a melee augment, etc. It makes forming a team less fun.

Peter Dinklage's voice acting is also unremarkable, and I chalk this down to bad directing. I understand that behind the mic is a lot different than in front of a camera, but there's no way this man can deliver such excellent performances in the T.V. series and movies that we've seen and yet fall down at even the most basic lines here.

Loot is also randomised, with even Legendary Engrams (item schematics you get decoded into random items) turning up something useless. I trust anybody who's played an MMO shouldn't need the reasons why this sucks explained to them. It does seem Bungie are working on fixing this, though, so that might be a temporary complaint.

I think what makes this game is that it has serious potential. I played it and got hooked, but found everything so... lacking. I'm keeping on with it because I genuinely want to see what Bungie have left to unveil.

Forget the online matches, it's poorly matched to players of equal skills and as much fun as CoD (not fun at all).

It looks very nice indeed on the PS4, and the controls and handling are spot on. I can't fault that side of the games development at all. I cannot attest to the games longevity at this point but in small short burts it does have it's moments.

The reviews that people like Angry Joe had about left a very nasty taste in my mouth about the game. However, after my friends convinced me to buy the game since it still received a mediocre review.

When I played it, it was actually very fun. Although the lack of story is a huge problem, I can still get over it as I come into my video games expecting GAMEPLAY. As John Carmack said "Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important." And although its probably not there, its the core gameplay that is what should be focused on.

But, this does not mean that gameplay is innocent. Yes, there are moments in the game that feel like Bungie's idea of "difficulty" is shooting for an hour. Yes, what was thought to happen with the games exploration didn't. And yes, the reward system for PVP is horrible (Do bad, get better rewards).

However, if you look past this, then you will find a very solid FPS that can be fun alone or with friends. The game is visually amazing, the gun mechanics are fair, the PVP despite the reward system is great, and if you can get around the other problems then you will find a product than you can play for a little while until something else comes around the corner.

There is a lot of different weapons and abilities to use that are supposed to make the game more deep and interesting.

Now the problem: Destiny doesn't have a finished story. The two DLC that cost 30€ brought some useless info into the game, but didn't add to the actual story. And since the story is lacking, you'd want to play some Crucible (PVP) to spend your time. The matchmaking system is complete crap. You don't really see it in 6 vs 6 battles, but when you're put together with two **** players for hours without your actual K/D affecting it, it tends to make a guy mad.

That's not all. Bungie made a lot of changes to PVP by nerfing Auto Rifles, just because they were used so much and they decided them to be so OP that people didn't like other guns. That ended up making PVP into a game type with only 3-5 different primary weapons used and 2-3 secondary. If you try crucible, you'll propably be killed by these: Thorn, The Last Word, Hawkmoon (all handcannons), or Party Crasher +1, Felwinter's Lie and Matador 64 (All shotguns).

Bungies idea to nerf AR's to make other guns popular made it so that only these weapons are used and you'd rarely see some others like Red Death and the messenger.

This has been going since February and they haven't done anything to rebalance the weapon system.
I truly enjoyd Crucible prior to the nerf as you could actually see amazing weapons, but now that crap.

Due to the current status of Destiny, I've decided not to buy the Taken King DLC and propably not any other either.

Unfortunately all of the games missions occur on the same handful of mid-sized maps; the variety of terrain and areas to visit is paltry compared to its competition.

You learn very little about the opposition, your allies, the motivation, the hows/whys/history of the universe; the story is virtually nonexistant in this manner, giving you the feeling of an unfinished world. Some of the enemies look interesting, and some even have unique behaviors in combat and at different levels of injury; this is one of the few redeeming traits of the game.

Level progression is very simplistic and basic, with virtually all characters of the same class differing only in appearance; and as appearance is equipment base, that in itself isn't a player choice.

Equipment is very clearly better/worse, with stated damage/second values or armor ratings; you very rarely have a choice between two equivalent items. Weapon selection is sparse as well; you have a few basic categories of primary weapons, secondary weapons, and two types of heavy weapons, all but two of which simply amount to 'spitting out bullets either on automatic or semi-automatic'.

Overall, a strictly average game with pretty visuals but little else to redeem it.

This is an update of my earlier glowing review. I still disagree with the initial round of bad reviews from major publications. They had the right scores for the wrong reasons.

For the single player "Destiny" is fun but not engaging. There are plenty of missions and on-line activities and shooting aliens is fun as it was in "Halo". There are no memorable moments from any of the missions. You escort Dinklebot to a waypoint, Dinklebot screws up, and you have to defend Dinkeblot from waves of attackers. The whole story makes no sense. Nevertheless, the first play-through is fun enough that most players will enjoy this portion of the game.

Bungie says the real meat of "Destiny" is the co-operative on-line content consisting of strikes, the raid which is now 2 raids after December, and also an arena mode added in May. In actuality, the real meat of "Destiny" is the meta-game of collecting in-game items to reach the highest level. This meta-game is severely hampered by a lack of fun and a lack of rewards. Most of the in-game items are dropped randomly, meaning that some players will never receive the gear deserve no matter how long they play. The best in-game items, the raid legendaries, are all dropped randomly. For each weapon or piece of armor, you need to grind for experience to unlock all abilities as if you are working a job and not playing a game for enjoyment. Worse, you quickly discover that most of the activities in "Destiny" provide subpar rewards at best, and there is an inverse correlation between the quality of the rewards and the amount of fun you have playing an activity.

Then there are the bugs. More than 9 months after release, the game is riddled with bugs. The connection to Bungie's servers is always flaky. Enemies and opposing players will freeze and take no damage. Then they may flit around the map with super speed. The two raids are especially frustrating because a litany of bugs can turn a 15 minute boss fight into hours of frustration topped off by sub-par rewards. Competitive multi-player is worse off because "Destiny" uses one player's console to host the game instead of running the game off of dedicated servers. Cheating through lag manipulation is as rampant as the lag itself.

Like many players, I have put hundreds of hours into "Destiny". They weren't all good hours. For ever fun moment there are many more filled with frustration over the bugs, heart break over the poor rewards, and mindless grinding all in the hope that one day "Destiny" will be as fun as advertised. If I could go back in time I would tell myself to buy another game. Of course I have made a good friends through "Destiny", and I enjoy playing "Destiny" with them. I wish we could all play another game instead. If you are looking into joining "Destiny", I advise you don't. If you picked up a used copy of "Destiny" for cheap, enjoy the single player experience and move on.

    (UPDATE)
I am now a level 26 warlock, still hated the story but when playing with the 1 friend i made so far and any other random people then i do find it fun while trying to get better gear and doing missions and strikes over again for rewards. I use to play WoW when that was big and was completely prepared to only do pvp or raids for the endgame content constantly and that had 10 million players. i find this 1,000 times better looking and even more fun with other people even if they are not your friends. also people call them a money grab and they might be but im obviously excited over any DLC content they have and this game is still a 7 in my book, maybe the expansions might bring it up a bit. just improving or re-doing the story could make this game better

A decent game but for the £500 million spent on it and the hype around it, it was a big disappointment. I personally would not advise people to spend their money on this game it could and should be so much better.

The music, the architecture, graphics and the GAMEPLAY! Yeah, this is a gameplay for a shooter! + great RPG elements. The things that dissapointed me: 1. Its addictive, yes, the game is addictive for some time. If you like MMOs this is good for you, but if you like more single player games, ok, you may try, but possibly youll be dissapointed. The game had lots of pre-orders and a lot of hype, even more than games like WATCH_DOGS and the PC port of Grand Theft Auto V. However, Destiny is not only the most disappointing game of 2014, but maybe even the most disappointing game of the decade. There is so much things you can't do in Destiny that should of been there. For example, why can't I trade items? Why is the RNG so bad and extremely Unfair? Why are there so many One Shot Kill weapons in PvP? This makes we wonder if they were actually using all of it for this or if they decided to use more than half of it for another game? However, Destiny isn't a great game, so anybody who gives this game above an 8/10 is crazy. However, anybody who gives this game lower than a 4/10 is crazy. I would recommend renting the game or wait for a price drop of at least $19.99. Expand

Highly average. Doesn't deserve a low score, doesn't deverse a good score. Destiny is fun to play.... If you have a group of friends. The combat is really fun but repetitive, the story is non existent, and the loot grind is unbearable. I had a fantastic time playing but it's a huge disappointment.

I’m not gonna go into all the pros and cons since they can be found in any other review. I just quickly wanna tell you guys why Destiny isn’t better than a 7 out of 10 for me.

The major reason is its lack of content and things to do, thus resulting in a mindless grind, sooner or later.
There practically isn’t any story to be found, so we can forget that part.
The few strikes that are available are a blast to play, but there are just five of them. Pretty quickly you get tired of them... which removes them from the to-do list, too.
I personally hate PvP, so this feature got removed from my to-do list right from the start. But I heard that the PvP is supposed to be quite good... again, for a while.
My biggest disappointment was the raid. I’ve waited so long to be finally able to actually get into the Vault of Glass (name of the raid) just to find out that it’s plain boring. Please remember, this is my personal opinion. Lots of people love the raid but for me it marked the beginning of the end for me and Destiny.

It’s such a shame since the gameplay and the shooting mechanics are so much fun. The graphics are awesome too and the sound and music could hardly be better.
But all this counts for nothing if there’s nothing to do except to do the same strike, mission, raid over and over and over again… tedious and boring.

Out of protest I’m not gonna buy the expansions since their value is questionable at best… again, in my opinion. Perhaps I pick up Destiny in the future again but at the moment I have no desire whatsoever to continue the mindless grind.

Honestly though what's not ok is that it was promised and advertised by the developers to be a lot more and including of which to having a story and not being like Titanfall yet it failed to have pretty much very little if any and even to none at some points as well as ending up being pretty much another Titanfall in terms of its single player campaign, promises that were made, and the hype it also got but in the end failed as well. In fact one can say destiny fails on almost every level as far as being a full game and at having any of the strengths of of an MMO, Fact is even MMOs have a lot more storyline and lore to them then this game does which is sad because normally it's the other way around when comparing regular AAA titles to MMOs. Thers to much wrong in this game to even bother and I will say that because of titles recently like Destiny and Titanfall I will never buy a collectors edtion and season pass on top of that on DAY ONE since nowadays you never know if your even gonna get a full game or just ahalf a game that is basically just multiplayer mode that's designed to just grab more money from online players and nothing else. However i dont think the boardroom realised how much and how fast the players were going to chew up and spit out what they deemed should be enough and have placed this "protentially amazing" franchise in a seriously dangerious place with their core market.

As an action driven space shooter it was entertaining to level up and kick some alien ass with a variety of weapons, but once you've done it all the game becomes a grind to level up your gear and max those numbers, farm some materials and await the magical and mysterious character that sells the top tier gear labelled as "Exotic" Unfortunately you'll find nothing exotic about the slim variety of top tier gear when you see that everyone has the exact same outfit and gun as you because they are simply the best.

What I think much of the backlash against this game comes from is not living up to the expectations it set us up with.

There is no massive open world, in fact the world is 5 small environments which you return to constantly with quite annoying loading screens between each and even to simply return to the central hub of your spaceship.

The story is very limited and leaves more questions than answers, apparently by design as what you've bought is simply "chapter 1" (and now chapter 2) of a much longer story that you'll pay for chapter by chapter in the form of expansions.

That being said the first expansion has addressed some issues by now but still leaves us in the dark with many previous loose ends addressed and even more questions.

IT IS NOT AN MMO. Perhaps at launch massive amounts of people played but the world only supports very small numbers of people at once, and don't expect to be able to chat with them unless you all choose to don your headsets and join the empty voice channel.

You have to make your own teams if you want to raid or do any higher level missions. This is the game breaker for me, I had to use a third party website, randomly send friend requests to strangers and fill my PSN account with people I don't know in order to do the most rewarding grinds.

There IS a matchmaking system for one type of mission but it isn't used on the things worth doing (Raids, daily missions, weekly missions).

Overall it was fun to play, got old fast and has left me with a sour taste in my mouth as I expected a chocolate layer cake and received a Hershey Kiss instead. It's not worth the price tag or the hassle but the dream of what it could have (SHOULD HAVE) been as I played through is why I'll give it even this high of a score.

Destiny really doesn't do much to keep the player invested besides the glimmer of hope that maybe the next time you do a task, you'll be rewarded with a prize that you might want (it's more likely you'll just deconstruct the loot and tell yourself there's always next time). Destiny had 10 year plan ahead of it, riding on the premise that you'll be doing the same exact boring mission countless times over for loot that you MIGHT get. Not to mention the level construction, especially as one of the selling points of the game was throwing around big name Game of Thrones actor, Peter Dinklage, who plays a glorified flying USB drive tasked with unlocking doors...and even when it's his only job, he's pathetically slow at it. Everywhere you go, door are locked and the only way to get through is to have little petey shoot his peewee laser at it for 10 minutes while you fight off hordes of enemies. Yes, nothing can get through the door, not your titan smash, not your nova bomb, and sure as heck not your sparkly golden gun, what did you think this was, the future?

There are things I like about this game, things I absolutely cannot stand about this game! It has left me on a very mixed path. But, let me try and sum up what makes this game great, and what makes it bad and I will let you decide whether you want the game or not.

So, first off the story is pretty much does not exist. You play through missions and almost ALL of the time they are just the same area as before, only with a different long term goal. I believe Mars made me goto the same area about three times for it's missions and it only altered my objective. You do two things in Destiny's main campaign missions, scan things. And fight of hordes of enemies until your little Ghost friend can scan something, or deactivate a laser grid or open a door.

    You have a choice between three classes, each having two sub classes. Hunters, which are your quick characters. Titan's which have defense/attack in mind {Depending on which sub class you pick} And Warlock's which are range and recovery based {As they have a pretty long melee range}

You also get to choose from three species, they don't alter the gameplay in anyway like most MMO's however. There are your robot EXO's, Humans and Awoken, which to be honest, are just human's colored blue with colorful eyes

The game's character customization may as well not be there, you have so little options that other MMO's like STO or even TESO dwarf the game's customization options, then again. They might not have cared to much for it, seeing as you only see your character's face in cut scenes or at the Tower.

The campaign is SO short, the only that keeps it so long is the fact you have to fight hundreds of the same enemies over and over again, and that the game barely gives you any check points. You sometimes have to fight three bosses or three large waves of enemies {All by yourself mind you, unless you bring a friend along} with one life. It does not matter if you die on the last wave with only three enemies left, you get sent right back to the beginning of wave one.

So anyways, there is more to the game than just the story however. You have your patrol missions Which is basically a free roam mode where you can run around doing quests and doing events that happen at random. You have your strikes, where you and your friends, or two randomly selected people. are thrown into a unique mission where you once again fight through hordes of enemies, defend an objective from three waves of enemies and then get to the boss and fight him.

You have your raid's, which are more unique than story missions or strikes. Where you actually have more than just survive three waves of enemies. My personal favorite is the Vault of Glass, where you basically go back in time to grab a relic to destroy a vex overlord, while you go back in time. Guardian's must stay on sync plate to keep the time gate open so you don't die, meanwhile three guardian's go back in time. On grabs the relic, while the other two shoot oracles that will instant kill you if you don't kill them fast enough.

Then there is crucible. Your basic PvP game type. You have your standard domination like game mode, your standard FFA game mode and your standard Team Death Match game mode. Now, crucible is sort of broken.

I once had a level 5, 11 and a level 13 on my team while the enemy had FOUR level 31's on their team! And I checked, no they were not in a party. Also, there have been a few times where I have seen people get the most rare weapons in the game {AKA Exotics} from literally being the worst on the team! My friend once got 4 kills, and 22 deaths and got the Suros Regime! And another time a player got 2 kills and 11 deaths and got the Hard Light! I have no clue why this happens! Does the game take pity on players who are having a bad day? In that case, I am going to start sucking on purpose in crucible so I get all the Exotics thanks!

The control's on the game are smooth, I like the flying mechanics and I like the way each class brings something new to the table, but that being said.

What is with Bungie games and not letting me turn off the auto aim!?! I hate it! There have been SO MANY times where I have went to punch someone, or went to shoot someone. And then someone jumps in front of me and all of a sudden my ridicule is aiming THEIR way now, and of course since that guy that jumped in front of me has full health, I don't kill him and then I get double teamed! There is NO way to turn this off and it makes me angry!

But not as angry as how much they are holding back from XBOX360/XBOX ONE users! They are litterally holding back weapons and armor and even a strike from us XBOX users! Bungie is trying to hurt Microsoft I swear, but it does not hurt them! It only hurts the fans!

Finally, after adding up all the DLC and the 70 dollar launch price, to buy all the DLC plus the game would cost OVER 200 dollars!

And you have to buy a DLC that costs 60 to get trading, ya they never added trading to the main game...

The integration of both an FPS and MMO styled game really started to peak my interest. The story was lacking substance and consistency through the entirety of the game, leaving me completely disappointed in the end. The raid system was fun for the most part, but there are constant bugs and glitches that keep ruining the efforts of a 6 or less person team that these people put time into beating. Many instances of these glitches were in The Dark Below expansion, where teams could "cheese" the end boss for easy gear. When they introduced the Hard mode of this expansion, the problems would consist, or be completely different. Enemies would not spawn, the boss would take no damage, fall off the map, randomly glitch into the safe areas, and ruin a team's raid.

The pvp system in the game is alright, consisting of the 3 different classes on a team clashing in different game modes. I find that the "supers" are unbalanced, leaving the hunter class with the edge overall. One shot kills pertain to the Golden Gun ability, leaving anyone caught in the fire dead, or the Arc-blade ability gives them close to invincibility with an over shield, one hit kill melee, and rapid movement (even in the air).

Overall, you can only progress so much through this game until there is nothing left for you to do. Exotics weapons only take so long after you play for a month, and then you have most of them obtained. The new level cap of 32 leaves public events, daily events, and sometimes even weekly events useless, considering you get materials you can no longer use with the new raid gear.

I agree with many users that this game is one that is forced to be played as Bungie wants you to, and after you do that much; the game is essentially pointless to continue playing. I appreciate what Bungie is attempting to do, and I feel that a 6 is pretty generous considering the lack of story, continuation of activities for maxed character, and balanced classes.

Grinding- takes forever to get a single new weapon and the weapon you get does not even depend on the enemy itself.. But, the graphics, music, and the combat is great. But the classes are not diverse, the skill tree doesn't feel diverse, so overall, this game is a let down.

I won't lie, I had some fun playing the game, but, overall, Destiny is empty..... This is the only way I can sum the game up. This game had huge potential to be amazing, but between the obvious piece by piece business model, lack of engaging story or characters, lack interesting game play (excluding pvp) and lack good level design (again, excluding pvp), Destiny is a mess that i don't plan to pay to have cleaned up.

For the good, I will say the soundtrack outshines that game play. It makes the boss battles feel somewhat epic. That is saying something since the actual game play usually is anything but. This is not to say they were bad, just predictable and repetitive. Other highlights are that the visuals are beautiful and the planets are well detailed, despite how linear they are. And finally the variety of weapons and armor adds an exiting layer to the shooter PVP aspect. On that note, PVP is fun, if an only if you work to get the gear to actually stand a chance.

For the bad, the story is atrocious. There is little back story, little explanation to any character's relevance, and little cohesive structure. Ideas are mentioned and dropped and focus seems to shift abruptly. The worlds amount to a circle with the individual segments being linear. All of the objectives in the story are the same: fight off X race while your ghost does Y task or fight X boss while it throws minions at you. The leveling of the gear is tedious and any leveling for the crucible, vanguard or any faction is tedious as well.

A special note needs to be said about the business model. Supposedly there is a 10 year contract between Activision and Bungie. One must question how much of the game was intentionally left out to be strung along versus how much upcoming DLC will be legitimately new (I am under the impression much of The Dark Below was withheld content.) In either case, Destiny is a fundamentally flawed empty shell on launch and any business model that strives to fill in the gaps of the original product with future products is not one I can condone. I do realize Destiny is the highest budgeted game ever; but that does make it right for Activision to adopt that model. Yes, games are expensive to develop and I fully understand DLC is needed for publishers to recoup the money; but by going this model, integrity is lost and hurts more than helps. If a game is legitimately good, people will buy it, DLC and all. If a game is marginal, you get shady forms of DLC and game editions. The problem is people will still buy it, enabling this practice. Destiny could have been phenomenal with some tweaks of the fundamental game play. I don't think this is anything any amount of DLC can rectify though. I for one don't plan to pay to find out.

What detracts from the experience is, unfortunately, the core experience. The in-game storytelling is woefully inadequate, and leaves you just not caring about any of the characters or locations. The motivations of the different races is never flushed out, and you end up just running around shooting everything in sight and farting around looking for new skins. That's this game in a nut-shell. Yes Bungie tries to supplement and complete the gaping holes in the story with the online content, but frankly it is a distraction. You must leave the game to figure out what anything is. After a while this game become a dust collector. Once you level up each of the different classes all the way, through an ungodly amount of grinding and replaying mission, it has little to no purpose. This game become hollow and empty rather quickly; after about the first character class play through.

As I said before though, it's not a bad game! The gunplay and leveling up the different weapons and armors is a lot of fun! Playing with two of your other friends in a fire team is immensely satisfying! The other positive is that Bungie has A TON of DLC and additional content coming! A 10 year plan worth of goodies. That is a definite win.

Speaking of the DLC, it needs to improve a little. A lot of love and thought went into cool weapons and clothing options for the Dark below, but my god the additional missions were a joke. They were short, unfulfilling, and could be completed in less than an hour. Step up Bungie/Activision.

In short, a fun twitch shooter with lots of loot to collect, but lacks any real substance to keep you playing solo. Not a bad buy, just temper your expectations and have dedicated friends to play with. Wait until the price drops to around 20-30 dollars, and then get the DLC, you will feel like you got exactly what you paid for.

Although graphically it's Astonishing and the boss fights can be fun if repetitive, Destiny is lacking in content and becomes a boring repetitive First Person shooter with a flat story that adds nothing new to genre, ending in disappointment to those exited.

The story is kinda dull, and introduces new characters in the plot just to serve as DLC packs that would be released at a different time. The final boss is literally the same boss three times, and on top of that, a boss that was encountered earlier in the game. Item drops are completely random and serve no purpose. The cryptarch will decipher a legendary drop into an uncommon or rare drop, which makes absolutely no sense. One redeeming quality of the game is the PvP, which I felt was the best part of the game. It reminded me of all the fun that I used to have when I played the Halo games on the 360. But then again, I didn't pay $60 for a PvP experience. Raids are just a disappointment. Bosses are exactly the same from the campaign missions, and just becomes boring when you literally have to shoot at him for like an half an hour. It's not difficult, it's just boring as hell. Destiny was a game that I felt could have been the first big MMO for consoles, kinda like a WoW for PS4/XB1, but they dropped the ball and no one I know even touches this game anymore. I'd rent it first before paying the full price for this game. Expand

Played this game for 2 months non-stop from launch. Got bored of the grind. The online PvP is very enjoyable, although sometimes the colours remind me the day I took magic mushrooms on a tropical island in Indonesia.

Not playing it any more. Would rather chuck on BF4 for my shooter fix.

THE LOVE: Gorgeous graphics, a great ability tier that allows you to change your character to a different sub class as you progress and a decent stock of weapons that gain XP as you use them allowing you to unlock their varying features which are mostly unique to each weapon. I felt the controls were smooth and with the evolving ability system which increases your jump range, ability to glide and even teleport, the only limitations I found as far as movement were my own periodic inability to execute them. The story is decent but the overall experience feels like Halo clone more than a wholly unique experience. This is apparent in the first few seconds of the game when the Dinklage 2.0 appears and you get instant flashbacks to Guilty Spark. It’s a workable way to narrate through a story but I felt more drawn into Halo’s experience having Cortana’s voice whispering in my ear, full humour, emotion and depth as opposed to the monotone sound of Peter Dinklage’s voice. His voice acting is great and this is how the character was meant to be portrayed. But developers should take note that if a gamer will be forced to interact with a character throughout the entire experience, a little bit of depth and emotion goes a long way to make your companion a bit more palatable.
Now, The Hate: The hype for Destiny spanned back years. We knew it was coming, then delayed but we didn’t care because it just meant they needed more time to make it great. We read how this game was Bungie’s passion project and how it had been in the works for over a decade. An entire universe, ever expanding and evolving which would allow you to go anywhere you want. It was laid out as a game that seemed like it had the potential to never end. Never has something been so far from my expectations as I was stopped in my tracks after only a few months of intermittent game play with nothing left to do. I breezed through the levels and all the while hoped that maybe when I finished the current planet a new one would unlock, but it doesn’t. With only Earth, The Moon and Venus to explore at initially, and then much later on Mars, which are all pseudo open-world and quite small map wise when Bungie’s promises had us expecting something much more expansive is a major let down. At minimum I would expect to be able to explore our Solar System, but this is just a pipe dream. The addition of Mars took so long after I had finished the other 3 planets that I actually had to relearn the controls and try to remember what was happening in the story when I left it months earlier. Now, after completing Mars this game is collecting dust and I’m not sure I’ll care to wait for the next planet given how long it’s been, Destiny at this point is a distant memory. There’s a saying I have “Don’t just talk the talk…be the talk” and Bungie should take note of this. The lack of transparency with the lack of any offline function made me feel cheated as well. I read anything I could get my hand on related to Destiny before its release, never did I read “oh…and there’s no Offline play”. For many this probably won’t matter, but that’s because they live in a world where internet is integrated into their everyday life. I assure you this is not the case with many people. In my case I travel 6 months out of the year for work and take my games on the road with my Gaems Case. I remember the frustration I felt when I bought the game (the ultimate addition which was well over a $100) left for work and that evening put it in only to read “no network connection”. I get that this is supposed to be an MMO type experience, but to not even add a hoard mode like Halo had seems short-sighted. Unless you have internet this game is useless. Lastly, my biggest gripe is the inability to access 100% of the game as many areas require a Fire Team. The Vault of Glass for example. I’m a mostly solo gamer and up for a challenging grind. However you can’t even access the Vault without multiple players controlling these “plates”. The one time I did get in alone due to a glitch that has since been patched, I fought for hours alone and finally made it to the boss, after an epic battle and getting him down to 25% of his health, the network booted me out and I lost my progress. Restarted outside the vault and couldn’t get back in. If you don’t have friends on PSN who want to play the Raids you’re stuck trying to find strangers to help, and no one seems to want to play so while the game quickly leaves you with no storyline to continue until they update with the next planet (if ever) the inability to access parts of the game you haven’t played is a ridiculous tease that just makes me want my money back.

If Bungie can turn itself around and "Be the talk" I'd be happy to revisit this review.

Hyping a game too much is a risky move, and Destiny shows you why. In this review of Destiny I will give my opinions and ratings on the following: Gameplay, Story, Sound, Graphics, and Last Impressions. This will be followed by my final score for the game.

    Gameplay: 8.5/10
    - Destiny is a lot of things, and an excellent shooter is one of them. Bungie knows how to make a shooter and they prove this yet again with Destiny. Controls are responsive, shooting is accurate and fun, and coordinating your attacks with friends/teammates can make the game feel quite tactical.

    Story: 4/10
    - Destiny falls flat on it's face with the poor story telling. It might not even be poor story telling as much as a lack of story telling. The game has very few cutscenes (a total of maybe 5), and they mostly just confused me on my first playthrough. The game attempts to do some story telling through your quest descriptions and bounties, but this mostly feels like "Kill this guy, then we'll scan the environment" over and over again. The game also ends out of no where, but that seems fitting I guess, since the story was a mess from the start.

    Sound: 7/10
    - Nothing special to talk about here. Voice acting is few and far between, but is delivered well enough on those rare occasions someone has something to say. Combat sounds good, and monsters shriek as you'd expect them to. Music is great at times, "pumping" you up for battle, and at other times it's just annoying and overly loud.

    Graphics: 8.5/10
    - The graphics in this game are very good. The different areas you visit are few, but each has it's own look to it and at first they are really incredible. The big problem here is the lack of areas. There are 4 planets, which all look incredible the first few times around, but after you've seen everything a few times, it's all old and dry. Character models and guns look good, as you'd expect from Bungie.

    Last Impressions
    - The biggest problem with destiny is the lack of content. People expecting to get a diverse and expansive experience will be disappointing with Destiny. The game is over before you know it, and then becomes a grind to gain better gear and levels. This can be fun with friends, no doubt, but the lack of content in a game that was supposed to be "enormous" is very disappointing. Destiny is an average game at best, but play with the right people and you can have a decent time playing pretty much anything.

    Final Score: 7/10

Bungie expects us to go on the Destiny website to READ lore which should be in the game. They can't take out vital chunks of info and plonk it on a website which you have to UNLOCK after playing the game itself. What!?
On the other hand, the gun-play was epic. You can see the structure of the gameplay is ultimately Halo with a different skin which is just awesome!
Starter levelling up was great, completing bounties and unlocking a new upgrade was amazing- Every time you unlocked an upgrade you felt proud. Unfortunately, after reaching level 20, it became a bit repetitive.
Among lots of stupid stuff Bungie has included, two stand out: light level and engrams. Light level was just boring but whose idea was it to get items which wasn't for your class from legendary and exotic engrams!? Also, if I worked hard enough to get a legendary engram, I deserve a legendary item, not a uncommon piece of gear!
The online was nothing new but with gunplay it was awesome.
I wish Bungie would make a Destiny remake this time resembling the original story ( Bungie's writer for Destiny, Joe Staten, left before the game was made) . The campain now in Destiny is a total joke. Bear in mind this is the creative people who developed Halo. Gosh this game affected Bungie's reputation. They've took out key parts of the story that are probably going to appear in future DLC. What!? I payed £40 for a game, not for part of a game. So much potential wasted...
The graphics were nothing to be excited about. In some places the textures looked horrible.
Last and definitely least, the Random Number Generator. This is by far the unfair and unorganised system EVER! Your rewards aren't based o skill, there based on luck. WHAT!? How dare they... For example if I came first in a game of control with 30 kills and a K/D ratio of 9.70 can get nothing and the player who slayed one Guardian can get a legendary rocket launcher!
    Bungie, get your act together.

The final verdict is a 6/10. It would be a 3/10 if the gunplay wasn't so good!
    Peace out. (:

So why not, while Bungie has the time to kick back and relax, they add splitscreen and make it so us gamers don't have to purchase a membership to Xbox or Playstation to actually make parties. I don't want to buy a $50 membership just to play in the Crucible, nobody does! Borderlands tripled their campaign with $3 DLCs adding a variety of content, and at its launch they had splitscreen for console users as well as making it so we could have parties of up to 4 people. Bungie, is it so hard to just add a split screen, or make the Crucible free for everyone? I have hope for Destiny and with these things, it could become a legendary game! So...Bungie, I implore you to make a new update with the split screen, a free crucible, as well as adding the DLC missions (HoW, tDB, and TK) to the normal game. Cons- Poor customization, lack of gun models, repetitive game play (both missions and strikes are very repetitive with little variation), very short main story line, very little lore/backstory/explanation for why anything has happened or is happening (at the end of the main story line I still have next to no idea what or who the main antagonist of the game is supposed to be, why the enemy factions are here, who several characters were, what happened to different locations before my arrival, etc.), jump ships literally appear only in cut scenes and loading screens, the high pricing of DLC that was likely content that was cut from the original game.

While there are a few good things about Destiny that make it very playable such as the great combat mechanics, aesthetics and soundtrack, the game falls flat because of it's tiny storyline that will last you a few hours, the repetitive nature of missions that revolve around the "go here, kill those, scan this, kill the boss/waves of enemies" formula for literally every mission, and a complete lack of coherent story telling. Shortly after the beginning of the game, an NPC literally says that he could explain significant events or useful story the player, but decides not to. There's just been no effort to help the player understand the world we're in which totally kills any immersion, constantly reminding the player that they're playing a game. A lot of pre release footage would indicate that the world used to be a lot more open but significant changes (likely due to Activision holding up the contract) occurred before release that make it seem like the game was heavily re designed a few months before release.

It make me think that somebody hired a fantastic development team to built a beautiful world, but then assigned a creative director that just wrote a first draft filled with ideas that sound cool, but then never improved on them, leaving a game that looks great on the outside but is filled with plot holes and half thought out ideas.

It seems that you can play the entire base game from a freely available demo which will save your character for if you ever buy the retail version, so if you want to play Destiny, just download the demo because you can get everything you want out of it for free and without having to pay for any overpriced DLC packs.

After awhile the game began to become VERY repetitive with the same stale mechanics. Shoot this guy, shoot that guy, go here, shoot that specific guy for a minute or so... The boss battles were stale and didn't require you to strategize and exploit a weakness, it's quite literally just shoot at the head or torso area for the entire encounter. It got boring, very quickly. It felt as if I was playing another Call of Duty story mission, nothing new, nothing good. I expected everything and the only motive for playing was to acquire a specific rare item which I found to be VERY frustrating! The leveling system is crap, even after patches I still find it tedious to upgrade weapons and armor especially the most important weapons and armor. (ie. pre-HoW patch exotic weapons and gear) Furthermore, all gains regarding weapons and armor inevitably get nullified through future DLC's. Only a select few exotics are able to be carried through the cycle of the game. Whereas I can understand why legendary weapons get held back, I find it unnecessary for armor pieces to have no way of ascending. (post-TTK release) Finally, some weapons receive unnecessary nerfs or damage reductions such as the Auto Rifles (pre-TTK) and fusion rifles (post-DB yes they are still meh-ish). To summarize, if you are bored and want a new experience, destiny is NOT that game, at first it feels fun and refreshing but after awhile the game will is piss you off. Lastly, it is also worth mentioning they have an entertaining Multiplayer, player vs player mode. If you enjoy and are GOOD at PvP or Multiplayer then the game will buy you an extra few hours of enjoyment, however some of the weapons that dominate PvP are acquired through very lengthy grind sessions of story mode or campaign, and sometimes you may very well never get that sought after weapon because 99% of the game revolves around RNG. (items are completely randomly selected regardless of game performance and what level you are) Destiny is a love/hate experience, again, I do not recommend this game, Destiny is a carrot on the stick game and should be avoided. PVP can be fantastic at times but its all down to luck in the matchmaking system and the weapons your opponents are using. PvE does have a lot going for it but only after you've made it through the almost non-existent story and obtained enough gear to get you up to 34 (the level cap after expansion II) there is a lot of variety of activities to try but you will need 2-5 other friends to play with you, the game relys on friends playing the game which can be a problem at times. Items can be SO hard to obtain often as its all luck, not skill, but the sense of achievement when you finally get them is great. The active community is often highly friendly but the game is rage inducing at times and sometimes end game activities can take up to 3 hours. DLC is stingy priced unfortunately, but if you have friends playing Destiny I recommend it, if not its probably not the best. Expand

I'm not really sure what to say about this game. It had some good graphics. It was like Halo meets Elder Scrolls. Some of it could be hella boring, but I did enjoy a grand majority of it. I just feel like it's missing something.

Destiny is an example of where games seem to be going nowadays... You buy the base game, finish the campaign within a few hours and are then told that "this isn't it... buy the DLCs NOW!!". The campaign is OK and the mulitplayer is just your standard multiplayer. Regarding the post story mode content, that is where the game really performs and I think this was their main focus when creating this game, because the story is so vague that you need to view these "grimoirs" on a separate site to read more into the lore. When I first bought Destiny it was shortly after the first DLC, "The Dark Below". I knew the game had flaws, but the visuals were, and still are great. The shooting mechanics are also really well thought out and because it's a slot machine style game with so many things to collect, upgrade and be rewarded, I kept playing it for for such a long time. However, the novalty soon wore off and I stopped playing it all together until the most recent DLC, The Taken King, game out (but again, I stopped playing after about a week). So far there has been 3 DLCs with the 3rd being the first DLC to add significant content to this game, including a new campaign. What Destiny is now is what it should've been back when it first came out in 2014. What is most disappointing is that this game now costs less than £40 brand new in GAME including all the expansions, when the base game alone cost more than this when I first purchased it. Only now is Destiny a complete game and that's why I'm giving it a 6/10. If you enjoy hours upon hours of grinding, micro transactions for emotes and repeating the same quests over and over, than this is the game for you. Expand

As an individual who has put in many hours of his life into Destiny, I can safely say this game was okay.

With over 15 days worth of time put into my Warlock character, 4 days of time into my Titan, and 6 days of time put into my Hunter, I can say that I have seen a lot of what Destiny had to offer. Whether it be The Dark Below, The House of Wolves, or The Taken King, Destiny has always

With over 15 days worth of time put into my Warlock character, 4 days of time into my Titan, and 6 days of time put into my Hunter, I can say that I have seen a lot of what Destiny had to offer. Whether it be The Dark Below, The House of Wolves, or The Taken King, Destiny has always been struggling to find new ways to keep their players in the game and playing the game.

The mechanics of Destiny are amazing, and what keeps people playing and coming back to the game, with the best first person shooting in a game, in a very long time. However, the content itself gets very stale after repeated attempts to get the gear that you want, as the RNG system is not very forgiving, and having your actual levels based on this is horrible.

The story in Destiny has always been a topic of discussion because, there really is not one, and even recent attempts have improved it, but never brought it to the level that it needed. The real stories came from the players themselves, whether it be from accomplishments, or frustration, the community banded together and pushed the game forward, trying to make the most of it.

Was Destiny a success? Financially, of course, but as a game, it is debatable. There were great moments, and very bad ones, and overall it was more the people that made the game rather than the game. Destiny deserves a 7 if not lower, but the only thing holding it up is the mechanics. We all hope that the next Destiny will be full of more substantial content, but only time will tell.

The game started out rough but as they continued to update the game it gotten better than the last. This one was the best they could do, there was no need for a destiny 2, two was a half baked idea and a cash grab that only a few can see that. Overall Destiny 1 is good just wish they didn't stop events like trials and iron banner.

Vanilla Destiny is weird. It has amazing gameplay and good visuals. But there is literally no story, no characters and missions are just horrible. It has potential, but that potential isn't used in the vanilla Destiny.

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
