    The "professional" review groups mostly got this one wrong. The reason I know that is because there was no way anyone could play the end-game content and press weren't given much in the way of advanced screenings of the game. So how could they rate the entirety of this game? It's an FPS that tries to be an RPG, though it mostly flops on the later. So how could they rate the entirety of this game? It's an FPS that tries to be an RPG, though it mostly flops on the later. Destiny 2 is smooth and precise in most of what it does, it just regularly does those things without a lot of true feeling - most of the campaign felt numb despite the dire situation that humanity is put in. I don't know why Destiny 2 falls short of expectations as the fanbase has been very vocal about what they (we) want out of the sequel, which arguably came too soon. This is a very shallow RPG at-best so it's really all on the shooter side of things that the game makes its hay, and it occasionally does. There's an outline of a great game here. It plays like one, it looks like one, but it never feels like one. Destiny 2, like Destiny, is fairly hollow. Had it not been for The Taken King, I think Destiny would have been abandoned long ago. Perhaps quality DLC can save what is arguably the briefest narrative and weakest RPG experience of AAA gaming in history (that's subject to debate, but I'm mad at this game so I'm gunning for it right now), but why the heck do we need DLC to save a game? Is it because it's under the Activision umbrella? Who knows, it's just not that good. Expand

    Excellent graphics and gun play, but they left out so much it just makes me think WTF. They've dumbed it down completely while adding nearly unbearable grinds/RNG elements. Nearly everything that was added with D1 expansions was stripped away or changed for no good reason (infusing is overly complicated now with zero guide). PvP is completely ruined now with their idiotic attempts atExcellent graphics and gun play, but they left out so much it just makes me think WTF.     It's remarkable the difference a coherent plot makes. Gameplay wise Destiny 2 is not much different to Destiny 1 (which is not a bad thing as the gunplay was great) but it now feels like it has some form of direction and a world that makes more sense.

    Despite it's improvements, the tag line I gave Destiny 1 of "everything a AAA game aspires to be, but that isn't a compliment" remains

    Despite it's improvements, the tag line I gave Destiny 1 of "everything a AAA game aspires to be, but that isn't a compliment" remains very much in place for it's sequel has continued with the season pass for expansions Destiny 1 had (though there's slightly more hope for their worth this time around) and has fully embraced and expanded upon the micro transactions that were introduced mid way through the original's lifetime. They're not quite game breaking but their inclusion isn't particularly welcome.

    Long story short, if you didn't like how Destiny 1 played then Destiny 2 won't change your mind, but the sequel elevates some of the frustrations of the original (namely it's underwhelming plot and setting) and gives you plenty more interesting things to do.

    With an actual storyline and loads of endgame content, consistent loot and huge maps that contain many hidden areas with tons of side quests, Destiny 2's single player element is what 1 should have been. As far as PVP goes, I think Destiny 1 was more diverse. Competitive mode usually results in people rage quitting after a couple losses and you playing 1v4. I'd say PvE is a 8, PVP is 7.     anyway. im about 9 hours in, completed campaign. somewhat an improvement over destiny 1. somewhat. its unbelievably cheesy and wants to make you feel like youre the bestest guy in the world. the thing with this is, you KNOW while youre playing that all of this campaign is just a means to an end. a very bleak end. i was hoping for more, more than just an rng grind like destiny 1. obscene hours of gameplay just so you can reach the correct level to be ready for each raid which are released at bungies leisure. destiny 2 shouldve been the game that lived up to the promises of destiny 1. we were promised a lot. we didnt get it.

    all in all, i feel destiny 2 is a carbon copy of the first game with some minor texture upgrades and slightly better story telling. bungie is writing scripts that THE ENTIRE WORLD will be able to easily understand so as to increase its consumer base. these games wouldve benefited to no end from some advanced lore and adult themes. but no. must include children to maximise sales. its sad. we lose out on what couldve been an epic series of games just so everyone can easily win and understand and progress in the game. this is a husk of a game. nothing complex or challenging in the slightest. another sad day for gamers.

    not a great game, but not a terrible one on any way. the story mode is kinda weak, but it's a fun game after all. i've just finished the campaign, but i feel this is one of those games that actually starts when it ends the story mode, so i might probably come back and edit, as soon as i play the rest of the things

There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

    * Why have skill points if you can only spend on one part of the tree at the time? This is just an illusion of choice. Introduce real and meaningful alternative traits.
    * Why is the main character mute during the story? This fundamentally straightjackets the type of story that can be told, all for the incredibly misguided principle of Bungie's "not putting words in your character's mouth". Well, that only works if you can *say* something yourself. If you can't, well, then put *some* words in there or else we will just be the mute sidekicks and lapdogs that do what everyone else tells us to do.
    * No meaningful item use, gun customization (to offset lack of perk RNG), quest system, lack of real NPCs with stories and chat dialogue. All the *world building* that Destiny so sorely lacks.

    You could say that many of these things don't matter and that it's demanding too much. But the problem is that Destiny is consciously aiming to be a mixed MMORPG/shooter. If it *consciously* wants to inhabit that space, it automatically is on the hook for implementing the most basic systems that are expected in the respective genres.

    Aside from this, there are the little things that are just facepalm-inducing in this game.

    * Why no sparrow horns?
    * Why no post-mission stats?
    * Why only 4v4 in PvP? Why not have both 4v4 and 6v6 modes? 6v6 is incredibly fun most of the time!
    * Why cater **all** the game mechanics to be beholden to PvP, and refuse to have separate PvE and PvP systems? This results in inevitably twisted game mechanics. Whoever heard of a FPS where your shotgun is a "power" type weapon instead of a secondary? These are vagaries of Destiny PvP that have forced themselves onto the entire game. The collateral damage is that PvE is now a predominantly primary-only snoozefest, and every boss is basically like good ol' Rockets McDickface (though not as bad as the OG one).

    It's like Bungie decided to play whack-a-mole with all the little aspects of Destiny they wanted to improve, without stepping back for a second and looking at the big picture to see if the resulting changes would make *sense* when put together. There is a role for bottom-up game design, but you have to have **some** top-down design or else the result will be a hodgepodge of lateral and vertical changes, with little sense of improvement in overall direction towards the **vision** of the game.

    And oh god the story. It's much more fleshed out than in D1, that's for sure. But boy is it *cheesy*. That wonder I felt in the early stages of D1, of vast dystopian worlds with so much mystery and room for imagination, is now firmly out the window, and replaced with cheesy tropes, "rah rah our hero is the bestest", and overly excessive humour.

    In essence, there is a lack of vision for Destiny. There **was** a clear vision during the development of D1, but that was famously gutted at the last minute, and we are suffering from the consequences to this day. Is it a serious sci-fi story-driven shooter? Is it a competitive PvP game? Is it an RPG with meaningful loot and character progression? Or is it a tongue-in-cheek casual FPS (like Overwatch aims to be)? At this point, the answer is "a bit of this, a bit of that, but all mashed together and not doing any of them well."

    Instead, to make it work, Bungie forces artificial grind (ooh now we can only infuse using weapons of the same type, extra grind yay!) to *compensate* for the lack of meaningful quests, story, and so on, which themselves stem from a lack of true world building and clear-headed implementation of *basic* MMO game systems.

    As a D1 veteran who invested many hours in the game, and a long-term MMORPG and FPS fan who is begging for a true union of the two, it's frankly more than a little heartbreaking.

    Destiny 2 is a good game. not a great game, but it's a good one, and it can get you hooked. compared to vanilla Destiny at launch, Destiny 2 has more quality content, though compared to Destiny 1 now, after it's gotten all its expansions, there's less stuff to do in Destiny 2. there are less planets, but there's more to do on these planets other than the occasional public event thatDestiny 2 is a good game. not a great game, but it's a good one, and it can get you hooked. compared to vanilla Destiny at launch, Destiny 2 has more quality content, though compared to Destiny 1 now, after it's gotten all its expansions, there's less stuff to do in Destiny 2. there are less planets, but there's more to do on these planets other than the occasional public event that happened at complete random and patrols. there are lost sectors which work as mini dungeons, and there's adventures that are as long as the missions in Destiny 1.

    the strikes feel awesome when played, too bad there's only 5 strikes in the game right now. 2 on earth, and 1 on the other planets. one strike has you going through a bunch of Cabal excavation drills to take out a big fallen mind so the Cabal can't use it against humanity. sounds more epic than it is. basically everything described sounds more epic than playing it.

    the game is definitely an improvement over the first game, though Ikora and Zavala both don't have a lot of character, and are therefore boring as hell. Cayde-6 is everyones favorite, and for good reason. he gets time to develop as a character, unlike the other two who are basically one dimensional characters. Zavala is a brute that fights for justice, Ikora is clever, but in this game she feels regret for not doing anything. Cayde-6 is the comic relief of this game.

    games pretty, not much else to say there. i think this has gone for long enough (5000 characters?! who wants to read 2 pages full of "reviewing"? might as well watch a Joseph Anderson video on Fallout 4. **** long as hell), so i'm gonna call it here. i recommend it, but i can see why some people don't like the game, but hey. Curse of Osiris comes out in December and adds Mercury to the roster, so that's nice.

    the optimal way to get to end game loot is grinding public events which is tiresome
    other than emotes there is no way to communicate with people outside a fireteam
    No heroic versions of strikes. Just normal and nightfall
    end-game currently exists of upgrading your gear with 2 extra light levels until you hit 260. Trade all your tokens in to get 265 and grind exotic milestones (yawn) at least make the best gear possible to get in strikes.

    The story is weak. I don't understand how it is considered good. Bungie introduces to Ghaul, and tries to make us sympathize for him, but his motivation are never clearly explained. He also kills his mentor without any precedent. My reaction to it was, "Wow. Really?"

    Nightfalls, Raid, and Trials no longer drop loot to help you reach max light. Everything always drops 10 levels below you. It gets the question, why even bother? The most challenging parts of the game should have been rewarding, but they aren't. Instead of getting loot drops for most activities, you get tokens. You then use these tokens to upgrade specific characters, but everything they give you is always lower light. Even the raid npc give you low light gear.

    It has plenty of content although most of it is easy. Once you reach light 265, most of it becomes irrelevant since it doesn't drop higher. Lost section were a missed opportunity. They should have been post story mode, 280 plus light, but nope.

    In truth, I will most likely play this game a lot because of the shear amount of friends who enjoy playing it, but it's average a best. Not an 8 out of 10 like reviewers are giving it.

    The game itself is great, high quality and everything. They made few errors tho. The loot is good until you hit 260, after that unless you have a huge clan you won't progress with more than 1 or 2 items a week. the nightfall assaults are completely different from the first game, not fun to play as you have 10 minutes to end them and the time recovery mechanics are mental XD. making thisThe game itself is great, high quality and everything.     When Destiny 2 was announced I was unsure if I would try it out. With Destiny you either loved it or you hated it. The story was virtually non-existent with most of it being on a website. It was a poor and lazy way to implement it, so when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would have a proper story with all the lore available in game it was enough to convince me to give it a go.

It was a poor and lazy way to implement it, so when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would have a proper story with all the lore available in game it was enough to convince me to give it a go.
    Visually Destiny 2 features an expansive game world that is beautifully designed with plenty of detail. Each of the 4 new areas feels unique from Each other and are packed with detail meaning you can play hour after hour without the game feeling too repetitive. Destiny 2 feels very polished as you might expect, with the controls and movement all well established. The gun play is spot on with weapons feeling unique and different across the various classes. Fans who played the first game to death will feel right at home. Bungie haven't strayed far from their original formula in Destiny 2 but they've made a lot of important changes that give the game a fresh feel to it.
    The story is very much front and centre in Destiny 2 and it kicks off in spectacular fashion. Whilst I'm not a fan of the pre-rendered cut scenes used in Destiny 2 it's a minor distraction in what is otherwise thrilling storyline. The voice acting is well done and the characters are interesting. I did struggle to really care for my mute character at first although now I'm at end game I'm finding myself feeling more connected to him. The plot is perhaps a bit safe and whilst it ends as strongly as it started I felt it was a bit flat for the middle third. Over all its a massive improvement over the first game and I love being able to dive into the lore connected to certain weapons, in game.
    The story will take you around 12 hours to finish, if you don't find yourself side tracked by other activities. Once you hit end game you've easily got hours upon hours of content to enjoy and of course you'll be trying to max out your character so you'll want to dive in to one of the many quests, strikes, Adventures, public activities and challenges. All this can be done with different characters too so if you want to get the most out of the game I'd suggest going for one of each class.
    The strikes are challenging yet fun and reward you well for your time as do most of the activities found across the games locations. PvP though was perhaps the biggest surprise for me. I've discovered that I'm fairly good a Destiny 2 when partaking in PvP and I think there's one very good reason for that. Through out my time playing Destiny 2 I often felt like I was playing a Halo game, Halo 3 to be exact. This becomes even more so whilst battling it out in the crucible against other players. I often expected to see Master Chief on my screen. This is in no way a bad thing as it just shows how good Destiny 2 is. I've loved every minute of my time playing the game and my experience with Destiny 2 could not be more different to the one I had with the first game.
    That's not to say it's all good news because it's not I'm afraid. Rather predictable it seems Destiny 2 has been Activisioned. This is where a great game is made and then the corporate suits take over and throw in their microtransaction crap. Destiny 2 gives players the option to buy silver which can then be exchanged for in game items. These items seem to be random but you can pick up shaders (more on them in a minute), mods that can affect your character (arguably introducing a pay to win aspect) and a bunch of other stuff. Now shaders used to be a "once you have it you can use it over and over again" type thing. In Destiny 2 however you can apply the shader once and if you discard that piece of armour then it's gone. You can use them on each piece of armour (1 shader per part) meaning if you want to use the same shader on your whole character you need 5 of them and more if you want matching weapons etc. Adding random drops to that equation in my eyes is nothing more than in game gambling. Remember that this is a 16 rated game in the UK but one that kids much younger play. Yes I agree that I'm awash with shaders and that they drop like rain drops in England BUT microtransactions are in there for a reason and the temptation is there. You'll have to go to the vendor to collect an engram you've earned in-game and that's where they try to tempt you by showing you all the goodies you might be able to getFortunately, the bad is far outweighed by the good in Destiny 2 and like I said, I hated the first game but Bungie have nailed it in Destiny 2.

    Pros:
    - They got rid of those ridiculous scout missions and put in actual side missions that make more sense. That was long overdue.
    -People may rail against it, but I actually like the silent protagonist. The original character had no character or personality whatsoever and didn't feel like a good representation of me (especially since I created them).
    -The story while still meh is still the best one since TTK without a doubt.
    -The graphics are still beautiful (as they should be in a AAA game of this cost)
    -The NPCs seem to have a bit more personality in the banter of the quests. Make is not seem so vapid.
    -Super easy to level up (too super easy)

    Cons:
    -Bungie hit it out of the park when they added a sword in the TTK expansion. I would have loved to see them build on that with adding more melee weapons like a power axe, daggers, or something like that. A bow and arrow added to the weapons cache of the game would have been awesome. Instead the re-relegated the weapons system to the same old pistol, rifle, shotgun and you can only use a sword with the power up ability.
    -While they added side missions, I would have like to see them go somewhere with them. They end as soon as they start and are about as superficial as your average fetch quest in an MMORPG.
    -The global events are the exact same as Destiny 1 except in more frequency.

    Biggest con:

    -Building off what was said earlier, I don't get what Destiny is trying to be. Its formula makes no sense. It has less content than your average open world game, yet tries to make everything seem so social and open. Its an MMO with barriers (which is dumbfounding). With most MMOs (doesn't have to be RPGs) you have a wealth of content that you can spend your time doing even if it is mediocre. There is so much that Destiny could offer. I realize they are trying to make money, but still. How about a real crafting system for weapons and armor? How about battalions (guilds) instead of randomly being matched with someone you'll never meet again? As I stated earlier, how about an expansion of the weapons rather than just pistol, rifle, shotgun, grenade launcher? More raids? Longer side missions? More planets (its the future, even No Man's Sky got that right)? Different enemies? Long strikes? More of a sense of danger (Seriously, I never get worried in a fire-fight. There is a wealth of ammo everywhere)? Monthly events (and I mean real events).

    It just really seems like Bungie is going out of its way to make the smallest product that they can, hype it up, watch the money rake in, and pocket the money off the game and the $500 million loan. There are some basic things even the most superficial of gamers could ask for that would be a good idea, but Bungie seems content with just limiting itself which is sad honestly because this game has the map to be something amazing. It just isn't being done.

    A clumsy but fair step in the right direction!

    Not the greatest game in the world, but definitely a step in the right direction after the complete mess of Destiny 1. PVP is fun, however with too few maps and no more Clusterf**k 6v6 which is a shame. Campaign is around 4-6 hours casually played. Had a couple beers and actually enjoyed myself however the game begins amazingly well. Falls

Had a couple beers and actually enjoyed myself however the game begins amazingly well. Falls off pretty hard and becomes repetitive by the middle, then becomes great again in the ending. However the final boss is really poorly written... "Gary" as he's affectionally known by the destiny community, he's more cute than scary. 7/10, Good and sold effort! However it didn't set my pubes on fire. Perhaps in Destiny 3.

    This game, at it's core is good. It's just every thing else is just mediocre. I do have to give a hand to bungie though they did fix a bunch of core flaws of the first game such as grenades. If you didn't like the first one I wouldn't recommend this at all but if you spent countless hours on the first destiny and aren't burned out, this is a solid installment in the destiny franchise

    Awesome game! An improvement in everything compared to d1. Especially the story and content. The world feels alive and the are much more to do. Graphics are really nice (ps4 pro) and the sound is perfect.

    EDIT - After the initial hype i have changed my score to a 7. There are so many bad things with this game i don´t even care anymore. Its a good run to power level 265 then nothing.

It does better on some things and worse on others but what else in the shooter department has this much creativity without hindrances like Fallout 4's terrible base building add on that felt more like a chore. If you like science fiction and shooters this is great but please Bungie don't make it all about Eververse and pay to play or even just focusing on raids. Shaders should not be limited and just ditch the mods. Exotics too common and most of the time end up being the sames ones over and over. So much potential there it's just not being given any attention and instead focusing more on micro-transactions and whether or not you have raid fireteams. I get more enjoyment working with complete strangers in the strikes or crucible. It's like World of Warcraft when Blizz had enemies attacking the capital cities pre-Cataclysm. Those sorts of open events are way more interesting and offer more surprises than any raids. Raids are completely pointless and just a way for companies to cheat out solo players from epic loot and make you lazy by letting others carry you instead of bringing your own solo experience to the table. Fun shooting and multiplayer but story and characters? It was bad to see a game with this much potential fall into the drain. Don't get me wrong I still have fun playing it but I barely know anything about the characters and most of them are pretty boring. The only flushed out character is the Ghaul who dies in the end anyway. But he had more personality in him than half the characters. When someone mentions a character I actually look them up to find out who are they talking about. It's a game I hate to love but I think seven is still too generous of a score I love this game don't get me wrong but purely on story mode NO ONE SHOULD BUY IT. Expand

    When D2 was released, I chose to play it the way it's suppose to be played and I did enjoy it. The story was decent and flowed very well. Setting and details on the PS4 PRO look amazing and I'll always love a decent PvE FPS.

    But here's what I did not enjoy as a 'semi-new' destiny player:

    1. For an FPS, it felt somewhat unnatural. Movement felt slow, sliding didn't flow well, and turning was more of a frustration than anything. Despite that, eventually you get used to it and it won't bother you. It was just something that pissed me off right off the bat.

    2. I get the idea of fireteams and bungie wanting you to come in with teams because a lot of the end game task do require communication. If you are someone who doesn't like playing with others, does a lot of solo, or doesn't care to go on the bungie site and find fireteams.. you're not going to get the full experience of the D2 end game.

    3. Once you get to that ~300 light level (currently at 303) and you've done your weekly milestones. There's really nothing to do but grind (and yes all you intense D2 players.. I know that's the point) but for those who don't care to do that, you may find yourself playing the game less and less. I'll play every tues - wed (SOMETIMES thursday) and get the milestones done and then move onto a new game. If crucible had more of an incentive or something, trust me i'd be on that but there's nothing for you there.

    Don't get me wrong, I love the game but there are some things to watch out for if you don't really know what you're getting into.

The story isn't anything to write home about, but it did enough to keep me interested and some of the characters I thought were well done. I enjoyed my time with it and doing some of the end game stuff now with my brothers and friends are keeping me interested. A welcome surprise for a game I thought I'd pass over.
    Only problem is the end game. Once again Bungie didn't learn from their previous game. Light on end game content which is a bummer.

I'm not far enough through it to say whether or not it is well written or executed. The game-play experience in PvE is a huge improvement. The time spent bouncing in and out of orbit has been drastically cut. Public events now have markers with timers. The map is now something useful. It is a great example of an improved user experience.

    My main gripes are with PvP in the Crucible. Matchmaking seems to take an eternity. I expect this to be improved. The biggest issue to me is that all PvP is now 4v4. Combined with the long time to kill it makes the game feel slow and awkward compared to the fast paced action of D1. If I wanted slow and tactical I'd go play R6 Siege.

    Overall, a better experience than D1, but it winds up just feeling like more of the same. I like it, but I don't love it. Maybe that will change with more updates(or inevitably DLC), but until then I'm feeling a 7.

Just plain and simple. Right now I would give this game a 6 on account of everything I've been playing so far, but I think that'd be a bit harsh given room for updates and DLC that may remedy some of the things I'm currently frustrated with. So here are the things the game does wrong, just wrong: There is absolutely no way to communicate with anyone in the world outside of emotes. When I'm running around why isn't there some method of proximity chat that way I can communicate with the living people in this world? Which brings me to my next point. The world. The world is pretty good. Definite improvement over Destiny 1, but still somehow feels constrained. The EDZ is essentially a giant circle, with the entire center portion inaccessible. Titan is just straight up cookie-cutter **** I've seen in tons of other games, except for the giant waves. Also, on a side note, there are really no interesting creatures in the world for me to fight. If you're going to add literally only two new enemy types which by the way don't make you change the way you approach an enemy, (you just shoot them) why aren't there at least rogue creatures in the wild for instance? The lost sectors are a nice improvement, but they feel absolutely pointless after you've reached level 265. The highest loot they really dropped for me was the same damn rare gear that I've already got at least 50 times no exaggeration, at a level below my current power level. The game could easily recognize that I'm level 270 for instance, raise the difficulty of the monsters in the lost sector to give me a truly difficult challenge, and then reward me with some respectable purple loot a few notches above my current power level. To me this seems like the most basic thing ever, and yet Bungie gives you the easy-ass mini-dungeon that I can basically sleep walk through. All the strikes are boring and uninspired, and many of them reuse spaces from the world. Bungie decided to remove a lot of little things that made Destiny 1 for me at least, a bit more intricate. For instance, no more strange coins, no more materials required to upgrade your weapons such as helium filaments, wormspores, relic iron. (We saw this trend of downgrading back in Taken King expansion when Bungie removed sapphire wire and the other two materials required I’m spacing on, to upgrade your hunter, titan, or warlock armor pieces, and replaced it with armor materials). No more exotic shards, and no more having to upgrade your gear at all. It’s ready to go out of the box and for me at least this is too much instant gratification. And also you get exotic gear when you’re level 10? It doesn’t feel exotic when it’s handed out like candy after playing only a few story missions. I could go on forever, but I think I’ll just wrap up by saying Destiny 2 is in many ways an improvement. But also in so many ways it’s a huge step backward. It’s definitely dumbed down. The problem is no other game manages to mix such addictive and strong shooting mechanics with magic like Destiny does. So people will keep buying the games, buying the DLC, and robbing Bungie of a sense of urgency to make the game the way so many of us would like it. I didn’t even mention micro-transactions. All I have to say about that is shame on you bungie, and I never thought you’d go that low. My respect for this company has dropped considerably after they told everyone they would never include micro-transactions apart from cosmetic ones, and they went ahead and did just that. Expand

    If you liked Destiny 1, it's 50% chance you will like it and 50% you will not like Destiny 2. Depends on how you deal with all the elements, because you've already seen all of this before. So you can enjoy or you can get bored really fast.
    The total gameplay time of the base game is something around 4-6 hours, depending on how fast you get level 11 (which is the minimum level to unlock the last planet). After this, you have what we call "end game", that consist in repeat every activities over and over to farm better equips to do other harder activities over and over again until the next expansion is out. Live, die, repeat.

    Now, is it worth you to pay $ 60 only for the base game without season pass? No.
    And it's worth $ 100 for the deluxe edition that comes with the first 2 expansions? I do not know.

    Keep in mind that there will not be only 2 expansions. If you pay $ 100 for the base game + season pass with the first 2 expansions, you'll need, in the future, buy another season pass containing the next expansions. The good thing is that the second expansion is programmed for 2019 only, so you'll have time to play what you paid without waste more money. The suitable option, of course it's the Deluxe edition, but it's more expensive than the normal edition. But hey, you'll pay $ 60 for only the base game? You'll be forced to buy the season pass! Do not do this! If you want, save money and buy the deluxe edition, or do not buy,

    It's a good game but you have better options. Think before buy the game. I didn't bought, I won this game from a friend. If I had to buy, I wouldn't.

    It was a good game in comparison to the previous. They re worked a lot of things making them better and worse but even so the enjoyability of the game is far better than before. Unless you were using a ps4 pro then you were playing the sony game instead. The loot system is actually viable now in that it doesn't take days to make progress. I also love how the main characters all had a bigger role this time around, even more so than Taken King. There were some very awesome moments in the main story that really connected you with (some of) the characters and the skyboxes and visual environment designs are absolutely amazing. Bungie is top tier when it comes to attention to detail. Also, the music is 10/10. Seriously some of the best video game music and sound design I have ever heard. Bravo there.

    All of that said, I would be lying if I said that I didnt agree with the more casual audience feeling like this game looks/feels more like a DLC/Expansion than a sequel. I get the overall vibe that this game was made to fix and address a lot of the criticism of the first game. Dont get me wrong, that should definitely be number 1 on the list in the planning stages of ANY sequel, and I applaud Bungie for those efforts, but that should not be the sole intention of a sequel. For hardcore players, it truly does feel like we are playing the same game with a few added features and balance changes. I was personally disappointed that the subclasses were the same for the most part (with the exception of the one you start with) and that some of the customization was actually reduced in the skill trees. I understand that everyone used the same set of perks anyway in the first game, but I was hoping that would be addressed by buffing or modifying some of the weaker perks so that players still had options, not bunching them together and giving you one of two choices. Destiny, to me, was always about standing out and somehow being unique among your friends and everyone you come across, from gear to loadouts to builds. This time around I feel like any other 280+ Hunter. This may go away with time, but this is just my first impression.

    Overall, I like the direction Bungie is going and the game still feels like "Destiny", just not like a "Destiny 2" imo. Destiny is still one of the most unique games out there and there is nothing else quite like it at this point, which is what keeps bringing players like me back, despite the endless and sometimes frustrating grind. I have had some of my most fun gaming moments in this game and made some awesome friends. But I have to be honest and say that I was not as wow'd or surprised as I thought that I would be going into a brand new game. The things I liked I still like, and the things I didn't I dislike less. If you didnt like Destiny 1, (outside of the storytelling) you will probably still not like this one. If you're like me and loved the first, you will still like this one about on the same level.

    Bungie has the passion and the backing to make this game one of the best games of all time. I just dont think they are there yet.

    Review updated, my original review was a 4 when Destiny 2 came out. Since the Forsaken update I have to change this now as the game has massively improved. Forsaken has brought much better end game content, random rolls on weapons again and weapons and armour worth trying to get again.

    I find this game boring. For some reason whenever I play it I start to feel really lonely. Which is weird because there's dozens of people around you most of the time. I just don't get the sense that they're really there. When I play The Division I never get this feeling. Also I find the gear to be incredibly boring. You can't do anything with it.     When I think about this game, the first thing that comes to mind is how great it could be, and how much it doesn't fulfil its full potential in any shape or form. However, having said that it is by no means a terrible game. Unlike the first game Destiny 2 actually has a cohesive story with an actual villain who has an aim that they are trying to fulfil. And while this is a giganticWhen I think about this game, the first thing that comes to mind is how great it could be, and how much it doesn't fulfil its full potential in any shape or form. However, having said that it is by no means a terrible game. Unlike the first game Destiny 2 actually has a cohesive story with an actual villain who has an aim that they are trying to fulfil. And while this is a gigantic improvement from the first game (as it didn't even have this), it still doesn't change the fact that the story is bland and uninspired, and at many times feels like the bare minimum. However, despite this the story isn't bad, it just isn't good. It's clear that it tries to be good, but I feel that the people who made this story didn't really know how to craft a unique and interesting one and/or was hindered by Bungie and Activision. Now having got that out of the way. The gameplay is very enjoyable and feels very tight which really does help this game. Though one thing I will say is that all 3 types of guns (Kinetic, Energy and Power) don't feel very different at all, which is annoying, but isn't the end of the world. Also, the graphics are for the most part good and throughout the 35 hours I've sunk into this game. The framerate rarely dropped and I experienced next to no crashes. Also the soundtrack is completely fantastic and at times I thought it was better than the actual game. Now to Destiny 2's greatest strength and its greatest weakness: the lore. To make a long story short, the lore is fantastic and I really enjoy learning about it, however for the most part it's NOT IN THE GODDAMN GAME. All it needed was some sort of encyclopaedia like the bestiary in Witcher 3, as that could tell people the lore and information about the main characters, as we know absolutely nothing about them apart from their name, the occupation and their race. The last of this games great problems is how it's completely geared to its current hardcore fans and does nothing to try to appease new more casual players (you can't try to call me that as I've done 3 Nightfalls and the raid (which is really overrated) ). So anybody who isn't an established fan of this franchise will most likely be done by the time that they've finished the main story (which is 8-10 hours long) as what they see during that period isn't impressive enough to make them stick around for endgame content. For me personally I stopped having fun at around 250 power, though I officially stopped playing at 285 power. And due to the games microtransactions and the fact that the minute you get the game the developers are already advertising the first of many Dlc's, I can't help but get frustrated. Though at the end of the day it really isn't terrible and it has made a lot of improvements from its predecessor, but it still isn't what it could and should be, so I can't give it any higher than a seven as while it's very fun, it's far from high end and I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. But if your willing to put up with its many flaws, you can find a good game in there. Expand

Haven't played this game in about 2 weeks since maxing out... its unfortunately that Bungie catered to the more casual gamer for initial launch, which is understandable... however i do not and cannot say as a hardcore previous destiny 1 gamer, i have been enticed both from story, game play and mechanics to get the DLC... The most enjoyable part of destiny 1.5 was Public Events. Overall a average standard shooter 7/10 and i'm being nice because it was marketed as a MMORPG which it is not.

Лор стал обоснованным за счёт соло режима, PvP больше упирает на скилл, а изучение карт действительно вызывает любопытство. С появлением цифры 2 этот лотос наконец раскрылся, а когда пройдёт четыре года и двойку сменит тройка, надеюсь он наконец расцветёт и поэтому я даю по звезде за каждый следующий год!

    I played lots of the first Destiny and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The first 3 expansions were immensely enjoyable and I had a blast grinding out loot and playing strikes. When Rise of Iron came out, this is when Destiny took a turn for the worse. While the new areas were interesting, the introduction of a currency system and the overall lack of meaningful additions left meI played lots of the first Destiny and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The first 3 expansions were immensely enjoyable and I had a blast grinding out loot and playing strikes. When Rise of Iron came out, this is when Destiny took a turn for the worse. While the new areas were interesting, the introduction of a currency system and the overall lack of meaningful additions left me empty after beating the main quest. Fast forward to Destiny 2, and once again, it started off very strong. The storyline is a huge step forward from the first game, with beautiful worlds and some interesting story missions. However, after probably 30-50 hours of grinding to light level 280, it hit me: I'm not having much fun anymore. I almost feel burnt out by the grindy mechanics with this game. After maybe 2 months, I put the game down and moved onto other games. Plus, the expansion of the microtransaction system from the first game is not a welcome addition and while it is mostly cosmetic only, its setting a bad precedent for the future of gaming. In short, Destiny 2 had the potential to revitalize the franchise but it ends up falling short by being too similar to the first game. Expand

    The story was good, the visuals improved and the layout of the HUD was smooth and clean, but narrative and visuals are nothing once squandered by the perilous antics of transactions and one time consumables. The let down for Destiny 2 is nothing really in the game core itself, more of the virtual shop within it, buying gems or what not is nothing new in games, and buying them to purchase paying only exclusives isn't either, but this game had no need for it.

    I won't say all the bad points, read other player reviews, but beside the bad points there is some light, the story is good, and I mean good, there is a lot of connection between the characters, that was seen in the original, the new antagonist is amazing and the overall direction of the story is great.

    The more open world environments is a neat addition, the ability to explore and play small missions and get new gear is fun, the secrets you unravel the enemies you fight all wrapped up in a beautiful world is well worth exploring.

    Combat is much the same, the classes are altered in their abilities, but that's good as it allows for a more unique experience, I've not played strikes or crucible yet (down to the fact of PS Plus, highly against that), but i would think they would be improved from the last game.

    On a final note there is downsides to Destiny 2 and there are upsides to it, as there are with many games, but if you're looking for clean crisp gun combat and a story that doesn't stray in to confusion, then consider giving Destiny 2 ago.

    The game constantly changes. IT is fun, and takes more of my time than any game ever. That said its impossible to score. There are seasons and times taht are like 5/10 and other times that are 9/10, It is fun but they make some very suspect choices

The dlc were sort of good they branched out the storyline with characters who where legends in the lore. But it was really lacking i hope forsaken fixes some things it already looks really promising. I wish the best for Destiny and i hope it gets better.

    (This review is based on the first raid) .Great game overall. Really enjoyable if you're playing with friends but not so much solo. Honestly would have been higher but the fact that everyone was running the same weapon in crucible killed it for me. Raid also was extremely ridiculous to complete even using the current meta at the time.     Anything under a 7 would be unfair because of the sheer amount of time I have spent with my brothers here but I certainly would not recommend this game per se.

    The overall community is pretty toxic, there are tons of microtransactions (making the base game free didn't change **** about this payment model being super shady and unfair), the introduction for new players into the universe is espacially at this point super rough and you really gotta stick to it to have a chance to enjoy it and lastly it's nearly unplayable if you don't have friends to play it with.

    This game was the opposite of 1. As 1 got new content, it became better. But this, as new content came out it got worse. I feel Shadowkeep ruined this game. Everything is given to you, with no work. You start off at 750 light. The story was short as it was, now there is no reason at all to go through the story, or any other of the content.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With Bungie taking Destiny 2 and with us all going into a new era of Destiny, i think it is time to do my review now. Okay so lets begin with the story. Now I know that Destiny’s in game story is not really anything special and the real story is online in the grimoire system or now in the collections tab for the lore section but I must say I really liked how the cabal destroyed the tower and took the traveler with our powers. Although i must say that the character development and the way the characters act and talk are beautiful. Cayde-6 is still my favorite character in the Destiny franchise due to his attitude towards everything and how he’s a joker/comedian. The weapon system and armor system at first was okay but now as i’m making this review it has became much better. I REALLY loved how they added random rolls back to which give tons and tons of replay value to certain events. Okay so now with the end game content. At first you had the nightfall and the Leviathan Raid which was okay for awhile but got boring/repetitive. Now we have tons of raids to which i think the number is 5/6, we also have now many different types of Nightfall which is nice and pretty cool if you ask me. We also now have a new activity called Nightmares to which have certain guns/rolls to which is REALLY cool but VERY challenging if your not high enough of power. The final thing that i would add is how the exploration on the worlds have been upgraded AMAZINGLY compared to the last game and the same thing can be said about the public events too. However, I will say that the everversce store is packed with goodies but sadly you need silver to which you can ONLY get from spending real money but they are fixing it as I'm making this review. All in all, this game is basically a slight downgrade in my opinion from the first game but it doesn’t do a bad job as being a sequel to the franchise but I personally prefer the first game. Expand

The solo campaign although beautifully presented never really has the structure or narrative of a true single player game.     Fun for a while. Gunplay is solid and carries a good chunk of the experience, but characters are forgettable, loot feels meaningless, campaign is barely coherent, and only one mission really stands out in set and art design. Some worlds feel fun to play around in, others feel like largely barren wastelands.

    -I am looking at the game with fresh eyes

    Even so, things Bungie did that has anger the player base has made it to my ears (the one use shaders thing.) Which even outside the realm of the title and my "newness" to the franchise is a crappy thing to do, even moreso when it was an unlimited use item in the prior title.

    With that being said, D2 is solid, better than I thought it would be. 1st impression I got the moment I started was: alright....so this is Halo. That's not a bad thing, but Bungie really...you could have strayed a tad bit away from Halo. the hive is the flood, the fallen are the covenant. Hell, the big bad guy is just a Super Brute!

    Shooting is super tight. I'm in no way amazing at shooters, but man, is combat solid. Gun choices are really good, but just miss the mark of being amazing. Maybe this is better at endgame (as of this writing i'm maybe a tad shy of the halfway point), but I found some great and some garbage (I hate any type of pistol. I ignore them, even if they are a massive damage increase. The recoil is crap mostly).

    Missions feel organic as do public quests...though the latter have little diversification. Once you do one, it's the same thing over and over. Still, they feel frenetic enough to keep the fight fresh.

    The story....is interesting. The one thing I heard about the 1st title was how crap the narrative was. Well so far i'm fine with it. It's no pulitzer, but it is far from being dull. I genuinely feel like a hero fighting back against a universal threat though not just gameplay alone; the story supports it, thus making it all the sweeter as you fight the red war.

    The music is sweeping and epic which makes both combat and the story reach higher levels than if they might have developed either thing alone (working harder on the story or the combat). Instead the soundtrack passively makes BOTH that much better.

    As for classes, I went with the Warlock. Can't say much other than the builds at this point (as of this writing i'm only lvl 12) don't make that big of a deal. The dawnblade feels like just an elongated grenade (about 3 seconds longer than the one you have). It's a CD ability that can hurt lots of targets, but that's about it. What makes combat any different than the Voidwalker or stormcaller other than the CD. The talents in each subclasses tree are more or less the same thing for ALL of the specs, it's just the super that really is any different. Subclasses seem more "passive" than being "active." The other classes seem to be the same thing from what i've read.

    I have just one concern and that is the accessibility of endgame content for the solo players. I, like many, don't really want to join guilds and do strikeforce-like content (be online for this event and such-and-such time). I love big event fights though, like a raid or dungeons but not ones that demand hours and hours of time per week to complete. Sure an hour or 2 to do is fine, but 6? Must it be with a group of people that always work together? For me, that isn't fun or frankly what I think of as a good use of my time, not when I can obtain gear and content at my leisure other ways. I don't dislike working with others....I just hate the old and played-out long form grindfest raid system that every MMO employs. I don't want super easy either, not something that equates to a bullet sponge loot pinata; just something in the middle.

    Other than that, I have no real complaints. The game looks great, plays great and seems well put together. Had I played the 1st one, I would most likely had more to take issue with. For a new player, it's worth your time to jump in. If you were expecting Halo....you're getting it...just with a different skin.

    Update: After "endgame" playing....there is little reason to continue. Strikes are fine and within the aesthetic of rest of the game (war of attrition to victory) as is the crucible. The place where actual gear is (nightfall strikes and raid) make the same mistake every single MMO does: funnel content into a bit-sized area antithetical to the product it is.

    Why ALL of the gear/content/progression is shoved into this teeny-tiny portion of the product is beyond me. Couple that with inane timers in Nightfalls and a 6HOUR raid is astonishingly dumb. The game is a world shooter with a few single player instanced challenges, but those are vastly outweighed by random group, undisciplined skirmishes. Why condition people for this, only to stick the best stuff behind tight/focused/strike force battles that unlike EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME?

    It's no wonder people rag on this game.

    After 2 weeks with the game, I'm rather disappointed. On the surface everything has been adjusted. The reboot and losing your Light/Subclasses was rather pointless when you can re-obtain them within a few hours. There is no real struggle in this game. The subclass storyline quests were quick and rather dull, unlike when they released the new 3 Subclasses in the original game. Lore isAfter 2 weeks with the game, I'm rather disappointed. The subclass storyline quests were quick and rather dull, unlike when they released the new 3 Subclasses in the original game. Lore is hidden even more now. Without the Grimoire to reference, there's really nothing here except a few paragraphs of nonsense regarding certain armor. Considering to get the most out of the game, many players will level up 3 characters (one of each class). There should have been alternate confrontations for each class to make the storyline a little more compelling, but once again your character is just another mute protagonist getting told what to do via Radio. The Vanguard characters were teased to have a bigger role in the story did absolutely nothing. I was expecting for them to fight beside them in this so-called struggle for Humanity, yet they only showed up for small scripted cameos.

    The Enemies are exactly the same. AI hasn't changed and while there are a couple of new abilities and types of enemies, they all deal with you the exact same way. The only "challenge" is the Nightfall strike and it's Prestige version and the only difference is that the enemies non-stop shoot at you, have more health and you take more damage. The Modifiers are interesting, but just add only a few new mechanics that don't really offer to much of a challenge.

    Public Events are quite often and easy to access, however there is no change to the encounters (with the exception of triggering the Heroic modifier). Strikes are fun, however not worth the time in terms of rewards. There are no strike exclusive gear to obtain. The amount of Duplicate Legendaries and Exotic gear is unheard of. While some of the gear will help you level up your power, you're completely stuck at times when that engram isn't the desired slot you wanted.

    Crucible is a mixed bag. If you enjoy team shooting, then this might be for you, but it gets old real quick. Trials of the Nine Matchmatching is a joke. Being paired against players who went Flawless already should not happen. There should be brackets. There is no competition when an Amateur goes against a Professional in any Sport/competition, so why allow it here? Bungie pushing towards ESports is an utter joke. This game will never be taken seriously in any competitive community.

    Lastly, the Raid. The one thing that Destiny has in terms of PVE content over other shooters and unfortunately, the Leviathan does not deliver. As a flagship Raid for the sequel, I find the Raid rather disappointing. Only one Boss encounter really bothered me and those who I raid with. I have completed the Raid 7 times since release and never feel satisfied. While the confrontations cycle per week is refreshing, the gear rewards are sub-par and I'm experiencing multiple duplicates already (4 hunter cloaks, 4 Assault Rifles, 2 Sniper Rifles, 3 SMG). The Underbelly of the Leviathan is interesting at first, but then you realize that it is a timesink just to open chests that you earned throughout the Raid. Not to mention you only receive more tokens and a chance for an Exotic (that you probably already have).

    This is an expensive Expansion, not a true sequel. The Honeymoon is over and now there's really nothing to do other than Nightfalls and weekly "Milestones" which are the exactly same quests just in different areas. Quality of life has improved, yet there are many steps backwards. The Vault is a mess and mods are implemented poorly. There should have been an in game tutorial regarding Legendary mods and how they boost power level to your gear. If they focused on 60 FPS on consoles, then I'd consider this a sequel, but this is more of the same. Polished, yet soulless.

    If you're wondering, I am a 303 Warlock, 304 Hunter, 303 Titan. Destiny 1 Alpha player from Day 1, beat all Challenge mode Raids in D1, Flawless in Trials of Osiris multiple times. Fan of the game, but not sure I'm going to jump through the hoops again hoping the game will improve. If there is 6-7 more years of this, I'm probably going to tap out after the Season pass of D2 ends. This is ultimately not worth your time hoping that the Universe was going to be an MMO. I ask those who rated this high after the first few hours they put into game: Does the game still give you that excitement after just 2 weeks? Yes, there are some hidden secrets probably not found yet, but overall, this game has fall flat already.

It has really become this way for a shocking number of franchises and it's tricky how it flew under-the-radar long as it did. Also thanks to the user reviewer (adrenillinmatt) for highlighting things I didn't realize had become so widespread until I read them in black & white then reflected. Personally, I feel it's eye-opening enough 4mi I will never buy a game (pre-ordered) if there's any question or doubt as to whether it will be worth paying for (based on whatever developers hv2 present on release day).

    Another thing quite striking: isn't it a bit odd that these "pre-orders" always come with an "all sales final, no refunds" policy? Any store I go to purchase a physical disc of a game, I can return before playing, before its opened. There is some middle ground here in terms of digital downloads and knowing if an end-user acquires the game then asks to return it: whether the game has been downloaded or not. If it's been paid for and never downloaded, it's not possible then for someone to have access to the game yet, and still they would be stuck with it. According to every digital purchase I've made on the Xbox Store, they respond as if they have a zero-tolerance policy on refunding digital download content, period. The idea of buying games at the price point ceiling essentially for home entertainment (including porn) without yet knowing whether the game will even be liked, loved, hated, over or underwhelming...and so on, is extraordinarily bizarre and inexplicable. Unless you're making money off of them, ofc. But I was speaking about the consumer: me, you, everyone else.
    I've omitted a score simply because I haven't played enough of the game to (fairly) be critical of it. Any review of a partial-experience can never be equivalent to a proper, fully appreciated end-game end-user experience. However, that's not to say that the game as it is today, and what is accessible to the consumer rt nw shouldn't be reviewed. If the game is improved after the raid and nine are added-in, I would imagine negative reviews prior to would have an impact on sales until word-of-mouth potentially improves things. Any business minds/majors know whether that is a good, or bad business model? Doesn't seem ideal to hold back what ultimately could provide the icing on the cake for a quality game, if that's what they're telling themselves.
    Points raised in "adrenilinmatt" review at worst contain enough food for thought to spend a dinner with, at best will make us smarter consumers who know the best messaging is with our wallets when we're not happy

Playing through the campaign offered some of the game's best moments. The diverse worlds of Titan, Nessus, and Io were fun to explore and featured some amazing scenery and music. Then there's the fighting on the Almighty, which I thought was one of the coolest parts of the game. The gunplay is pretty good, although the enemy AI isn't great, as they rely more on sheer numbers or high HP to get you. Anyway, the fun and excitement quickly dry up later on as you're revisiting the same places, grinding away for random loot. Things get old rather quickly. I also wonder how much total money one has to drop to truly get the full experience of Destiny 2. Seems like it'd be a lot. Expand

    Fun raids/strikes and exploring the beautiful open world (albeit very small) aren't enough to make up for the disappointing and uninspired campaign along with the unoriginal and boring PvP experience. Wondering around the The Traveler and just taking in the sights/sounds was an absolutely amazing experience though.

    The game is not to much of a disappointment and it is still early...comparing apples to apples btwn D2 and D1 releases...D1 can't shake a stick at D2. I can't help but feel that some (if not most) of what's in D2 should've been in D1...but ahh well. Good game, leveling is boring...but still better then D1.

    As someone who despised what Bungie did with the first Destiny, I must say that its sequel was a pleasant surprise. It feels like an improvement in every possible way from the story to the multiplayer. It's still not perfect and has a lot of the same problems that plagued the original, but it's hard to knock such an improvement.

    Unfortunately, Destiny 2 is using the same formula as its predecessor. Bungie is giving us the same great game-play, somewhat of an improved story, great soundtrack, and fantastic graphics, but then completely ruins it by skipping out on the quality of games modes and huge amount of player choice that made its predecessor great. The variety in weapon perks that kept players coming back even after reaching max light level; just to find the perfect “god” roll is gone. Strikes have been reduced to a random playlist only and can’t be individually selected, not that you’ll do any because their rewards are more easily earned by participating in public events. Strike scoring and strike specific loot have been removed. The raid is a good time, but lacks “challenging” puzzles. Lastly, the raid only awards you with one legendary item. In my eyes that isn’t worth the 3 to 4 hour play through.

    Now for PVP. PVP is now 4 versus 4 only. 4v4 is not for everyone. Other games do 4v4 better. Such as Halo and CS go. All matches are limited to two random playlists meaning players can’t select the kind of matches they enjoy. For example, if you want to play Clash only, that is not an OPTION! When Destiny 1 first launched player were unhappy with Crucible. We, the fans, caused such an uproar, Bungie eventually changed Crucible for the better. With Destiny 2, Bungie decided to do exactly what they did in the first year of Destiny 1. Bungie is forcing PVE players to play through 10 PVP matcher per week if they want maximize their power level gains. This needs to be balanced. If I am a PVE player, I should have the option to only play PVE and should reap the same benefits of a PVP/PVE player.

    In conclusion, Destiny 2 is a good game until you hit level 20, then it becomes a hollow shell of its former self. It’s sad that Destiny 2 won’t truly shine until the upcoming expansions. It’s sad that Bungie ripped out player’s choice. I am extremely disappointed with the state Destiny 2 is currently in. My advice would be to get the game after all the expansions have released.

    I guess the raid will be great again and that is the only thing really unique and goid about Destiny. It's all about finding 5 other people playing the raid to get top tier loot. Something they blew in TTK and won't this time. Since loot is RNG, you have to do it over and over again. Pull that lever sucker! PvP was what kept me doing D1 for a long time, because it was a blast with all the super abilities, but now it's a typical primaries only fight that some other titles do better. Bungie also has still not invested in dedicated servers and uses a P2P hybrid that sucks. That's why they kept it to 4vs4 battles this time. You really only need this game, if you are a D1 addict. All in all, D2 is the same slotmachine paired with an FPS D1 was.

    Nearly all instances of voice acting matched the persona of their characters and was delivered quite well (looking at you Nathan Fillion).

    Gunplay, which is nearly completely identical to the first Destiny, is topnotch. Responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing (with respects to controller capabilities); it shines with a AAA polish.

    Negatives:
    The enemy A.I. is appalling. Perhaps the game’s MMO element creates a bit of lag inhibiting their awareness, or maybe they were designed to be extra passive as to make players feel super stealthy, but repetitively dancing a few inches behind them really makes me feel as though they aren’t really the threat that the story tries to convince me of. The pathing is equally horrendous (watching 100+ enemies funneling through a tight corridor to seemingly blind fire worse than bad guys from a Schwarzenegger film made me feel both humored and disappointed). The impression of engagements was anything but engaging.

    Post Taken King, most developments of “core gameplay” in Destiny’s sequel seemed fairly minimal. Really should expect more with a $60 price tag (as opposed to cheaper DLC) – particularly because there was certainly room for notable improvement (even from a creative standpoint, like completely new alternative classes).

    I did not find the “grind” too enjoyable. The monotony of easily slaying abysmal A.I. became a killjoy, especially after completing the story missions. Though the recent raid was fun, it came a bit late, and was not nearly a good enough payoff for the hours it took plowing through the same public events whilst praying to the RNGod’s for something beneficial. The threat of boredom is tenfold to solo players.

    The writing, from the plot to the dialogue, was unoriginal, tacky, and meek. I would assume most are content that there is at least an attempt at a story in Destiny 2 since there was an obvious lack of one in the first, but that doesn’t excuse how meager it is— being relatively better (story wise) does not inherently make it good. I’ve read plenty of free fan stories and theories discussing the Destiny universe that were leagues better than the oversimplified clichéd nothingness we paid for.

    Narrow F.O.V. 30 FPS. (Console capabilities really do hurt the potential experience in this regard).

    Various bugs (i.e. invisible enemies/players)/glitches/crashes.

    Aesthetically, endgame characters never really looked as “cool” as I wanted them to (nor as they probably could be) even with the shaders. I often felt various enemies looked much better than I ever could.

    Microtransactions/Consumable shaders. Greedy, unnecessary, and ultimately makes some consumers feel skeptical of being treated wallet-friendly by Bungie/Activision in the future.

    Story was much too short (took me 4.5/5ish hours casually). I’m expecting expensive DLC to satisfy that shortcoming.

    I would’ve liked to have experienced a newer and wider assortment of enemies/bosses.

    On PVP: some gun balancing issues, p2p is suboptimal, I’m not sure why 6v6 had to be dropped (even as an option) entirely, and arenas could be enhanced artistically (perhaps even redesigned for better combat flow).

    Conclusion: I was absolutely looking forward to purchasing this game on PC (despite my better judgment). Now I could care less, the console copy is enough.

    The crafting quality is literally basic as hell. On top of this, the entire Buy/Sell with suppliers is limited to basic generic items and god forbid they offer you more than 5 options at a time, most of which you wouldn't even consider if you were in desperate need.

    On a positive note, the graphics are truly stunning, especially in the cut scenes. some really terrific work here.

    Overall a very rinse and repeat effort here. One for the die hard Destiny fans. For those looking for a little more in both mental stimulus and storyline, this is not the game for you.

    A good story but very cliche. I never really liked MMO's to be honest because the game never treats itself like one. As you play the story you meet up with Zavala, Ikora, and Cayde-6 and they treat your character like he is the only guardian left when there are thousands wandering the worlds. Nevertheless, I enjoyed playing through it much more than the first game.

    Engrams in this game don't need to be deciphered unless they are legendary (purple) or exotic (yellow). Common (white), uncommon (green), and rare (blue) can all be equipped once picked up. Loot is done better in this game as well.

    The only things I really didn't like were the fact I didn't get my sparrow til after I beat the whole campaign, so if you pick this game up you will be walking from one location to another for a majority of the game unless you find an abandoned enemy vehicle.

    The crucible was also something that was a disappointment. Instead of having game modes to pick from, you pick either quickplay or competitive and it puts you in a random game mode. This works for games like Overwatch but not this game. Players always leave when they get a mode they don't like.

    Ships still serve 0 purpose other than to be eye candy during loading screens. I mean seriously if you are not gonna have space battles then do not bother wasting valuable time on stuff like that when you could be using it to make a better game. I don't know why Bungie didn't think to just use teleporters or even something like a Stargate to move us around from planet to planet with loading screens in between.

    So Destiny 2 is an okay game but needs some work done on it. So get on it Bungie!

    Overall destiny 2 deserves the 8 for now , I hope the dlc's bring much content and exotics!!

    Iron banner just dropped but its nothing special
    After this week i realised a few things that should be added or be different
    - grenade launchers are useless , only a couple are good in pve and mediocre at best in pvp , I ask for an extra blast radius and impact
    - public events are now repetitive as hell more should be added even a more difficult level of public events
    --the strike playlist is very weak ,most of them are fun ( especially the pyramidian strike), but there are way to few

    When I played the first Destiny, I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer though was very disappointed by the campaign. It was very short, boring and doesn't give you any interest in any of the characters whatsoever. This time however, its the other way round. The characters are more interesting (and funny), starring Nolan North as the Guardian (big fan of his work), but the gunplay feels smoother, it is less repetitive and it has a much more engaging narrative and amazing graphics. So what is it that really lets this game down for me? The multiplayer. This is a big factor for me because once I complete the story I will be ready to spend the rest of my time with this game on the multiplayer like I did in the first Destiny as I did not give a s**t about the story. Unfortunately for me, that was simply NOT the case. When playing the open beta I was not impressed with the multiplayer. Was it the imbalanced classes, the boring game modes, the short and boring rounds or the broken mechanics such as the class abilities or the stiff turning controls? It was all of them! Though I still went and bought the game mainly for the campaign and because I though that this was just the beta stages of the multiplayer. I knew there would be more maps, classes and game modes which it does offer but all the problems are still there. All of the classes are very imbalanced with some being overpowered and others being underpowered (for example the Hunter is OP while the new Warlock is very underpowered). The entire game itself is a combination of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and Halo 5. I hated Infinite Warfare and if you did than you will not enjoy this. I did enjoy Halo 5 however. In the first Destiny there was something in the multiplayer that made these two combinations work, with this game however it feels very wrong. Is it because of the futuristic entries into the COD series we've been getting such as Infinite Warfare or was it the disappointment with Halo 5. I could spend an hour of your time saying everything that is wrong or doesn't work in the multiplayer in detail, but to summarise it, it is average at best and boring, frustrating and imbalanced at worst. And for some reason the gunplay in the singleplayer feels really good, even when you team up with other players, but in the multiplayer, the Warlocks guns for example are P-Shooters. Either that or the enemies I fight are bullet sponges. When I say the multiplayer is frustrating its in times such as when I get killed by an enemy I should've killed because I started shooting them first with most of my bullets landing on their body. They obviously had more armour than I did, but with a better gun at the same time that is capable at getting headshots easier, which is probably why they were able to retaliate and kill me, but like I said the classes and weapons are so imbalanced and the abilities are so inconsistent. Overall I would not recommend buying this game just for the multiplayer unless you love the futuristic shooters such as Infinite Warfare, than I would say yes, but wait. If you wanna buy this game for the single player, even then I wouldn't recommend it. As much as I enjoyed this games campaign, it was annoying how you must always be connected to the internet even when you just want to play solo. That was the same problem that the original Destiny had. The campaign is about no more than 10 hours long. If you wanna buy this game for the single player than I suggest wait a couple of months for a couple of price drops, than you should pick it up as it is definitely worth paying attention to unlike the first destiny. It seems that the game got almost everything right with the single player improving from the original in almost every way, but they just ruined the multiplayer for me. The multiplayer in the first Destiny was not perfect but was very fun and enjoyable. I am disappointed how instead of taking everything good about the original Destiny's multiplayer and make it better, they almost completely f**ked it up, but at least flag capture was untouched, which is good because its my favourite in this game but bad because I wished they would've improved on it because I found it only decent in the first Destiny. I just hope that either they make some major changes to the multiplayer throughout the course of next year or that Destiny 3 will do everything they did right with the multiplayer from Destiny 1 and not like Destiny 2 and that the campaign is just as good as it is here, because so far, once I fully finish the campaign, this is a game that I will forget about a couple of weeks later until either I trade it in or until the multiplayer is reworked. If it is, then I may do a re-review and re-evaluate my opinion on the multiplayer because so far I am NOT impressed what so ever.     This is a MMO masquerading as a single player experience. Every NPC talks about how special you are and how you are the only one that can help, which is hard to believe when there are dozens of other players running around you that were told the same thing. If I had been looking for a multiplayer experience, my score would be higher, but the single player experience is disappointingly lacking.

    Sadly It's just boring. The story is not any better and it just feels bland and contrived half the time. I am just trying to get through the story to get to the strikes, but they again make grinding mandatory. The side quests are copy pasted from the last game, but renamed. Even the new areas are some more of the same. They are a bit more flushed out but at one point I could have sworn I was just back on Venus.

    The game mechanics are still spot on. Running and Gunning is satisfying. There is a lot more vertical jumping in this one which my titan had no problem with, but my friends warlock was struggling with (he may have just sucked at jumping, I never played warlock)

    If you didn't pick up Destiny 1, I would say give it a shot. You may get to feel a bit of wonder for 20 or 30 hours exploring the world for the first time. For any one that has played Destiny, then you have played Destiny 2.

Maybe Destiny 1 vanilla, but Destiny 1 at the end of its life was great and had so much content and many things to do. Destiny 2 now feels like a massive downgrade and after 150 hours i don't really like playing it on my own cause its just the same old same old over and over and over again.     The weapon system is also good but compared to d1 more focused on pvp. Bosses in the normal missions are fun, in the strikes just complete damage sponges with the lowered damage output it's annoying.
    I'm gonna trust bungie that the raid is gonna be great (like most of the d1 ones).
    Skill trees are significantly simplified. It's a good in the way of having an optimized build it's bad because of individualisation. It would be better if you could just use whatever you want (like in d1) than having the "optimized" build.
    It's also sad that all classes only got one "new" subclass the rest are basically the same as the old.
    But bungie good job it's a really fun game it's not perfect, it's good at best better than base d1 so let's hope the dlc make it better. And one more thing why not just give us a really good game at base instead of having an ok to good game to make it good with dlc...

    A good game, but needs fixes. The story is good, and so are the graphics and gameplay. The newer areas were all detailed and awesome. The downside are the weapons and armor. They feel either underpowered or overpowered, and are too hard to get. It makes a good game not as good as it could be if it was fixed.

    next, what content we do get. this kind of cheesy dialogue is endearing in a Pokemon or Sonic game, yet somehow, it makes me cringe here. I honestly do not know why that is. as for gameplay, abilities do not matter enough, and the game is too focused on just guns for my liking.

    Macht mir großen Spaß. Der PvE Teil. Der Zwang zu PvP und das mit Abstand schlechteste Matchmaking sorgen regelmäßig für Kotze bei mir im Mund. Meide ich wie die Pest. Im Grunde kann ich das Spiel empfehlenb wegen toller Arbeit die drin steckt. Für PvP gibt's bessere Spiele.

    Destiny 2 is a tough nut to judge. It's one of them games which you really want to like, and that looked very promising at launch, but then went completely south. I consider the predecessor to be one of the best online games out there. We had so much fun in Destiny from a social view. And surely we got promised by Bungie that a lot of things would be improved - and some things did - but inDestiny 2 is a tough nut to judge. Paywalls, progression mechanics and feedback sets the example of how a game shouldn't be managed.

    Now there's that. And then there's the fact that it's still a well written game, that trademark feel of a Bungie shooter and the embedded clan support that favours friends playing with friends. But the truth is that Destiny 2 is less of a grind than the first game, you could absolutely go Platinum trophy within a month if that's your thing, and players are leaving at a fast pace. Surely, there's stuff to do still, like wandering around the beautiful hubs shooting random stuff and using spacemagic. But you'll soon realise that this game doesn't let you play it the way you choose to, but it prompts you to play it the way that Bungie see it fit to play. You'll find yourself looking for the weapon of the time that actually works playing against others with, or the stuff that actually lets you slip by the timer of a Nightfall (which is ridiculous and simply put not fun) or you can find yourself on a loosing streak in PvP due to issues that the developer haven't even adressed yet. And yet it's a solid well developed game in it's core, but in there you'll also find a conflict and flaws and a developer who doesn't seem to give a damn about the player community. If you're a griever or a troll. This is the game for you.

    At this time I haven't picked up on the first expansion. But you should if you want to play the game for the first time, because you see - the developers have locked up basic endgame content behind owning that expansion. It's essentially consumer rape. And of course they did it like that, because like I said. They don't give a damn.

They give you more reasons to do all the side events on planets, but of course you lose those reasons pretty quickly once you're geared up for endgame content.     A fake mmo shell hiding a surprisingly antisocial shooter. Decent (not great) pvp but without dedicated servers. Counter-intuitive gear grinds that slow to a crawl very quickly. A single player campaign that appears to have it's difficulty set to negative 3 or 4 (Seriously, you could probably just punch your way through it). A plot that makes you the player literally irrelevant by the end. Hours of idling in the worst facsimile of a "social area" that I've ever seen in a video game. If you love any of these things, this is the game for you!

    That being said, I love grinds, and I know I'll be playing the heck out of this game for a long time. I'm just going to hate myself a little for it.

    The problem with this game is the 30fps cap for consoles. Outher then that I like it alot. It works to play the PVE content but PVP is a complete mess with 30 fps. Someone made a comparison to Golden Eye on Nintendo 64. Its a good comparison.

    The AI is terrible. Enemies have a strange strategy of walking up to you to be a bigger target. The PvP has no direction, trying to be CS, Halo, and COD at the same time. It simply relies on teamshooting, with none of the thrilling speed-demon tactics that pull us in from the first game. All we hope for is that Bungie uses this cashgrab to better fund their next projects, but most likely it'll end up as promotion money for Cayde-6, the unnecessary comedic relief of Destiny. Until there's a discounted version with all the DLCs, you shouldn't buy this game.

There are the same old patrol missions as Destiny 1, and now they have the adventure missions, which are essentially just patrol missions that involve killing X, collecting X, go to X etc. The strikes aren't any more interesting than the original ones in Destiny 1. The crucible has arguably be lessened by the 4 v 4play type with smaller maps. No new character classes have been made in the 3 years since the original. Some of the new planets are very small and have no real reason to go to once the story missions are completed. Also, why the hell aren't there quick change weapon load outs? What about using one of the D-pad buttons to change to an alternate loadout so you dont have to go into the menu and do it in the middle of a boss fight? I suppose that would take away one of the emote buttons, but what an awesome thing that would be.

    Sure there is quick travel now, but why the hell wasn't there in the first game? It's nothing to celebrate something that has been industry standard for years and years. It's not a plus, it's just not a minus now. Weapon types are essentially the same but now your weapons dont level up with use, again something i dont really like and feels like it detracts from the rpg level up elements. They still don't have proper in game group finding for raids or nightfalls, you can now tag along with a guild group who is looking for another player to fill their ranks.

    Overall calling this game a sequel is a pretty tough pill to swallow. It doesn't bring anything new to the table and feels very half assed. If you haven't played the original Destiny then pick that up on the cheap and enjoy the game.

The lack of hardcore endgame content is a huge stain on the entire franchise, and the overall changes to loot progression (token slot system), combined with an overall 'balancing' of power level (power level hardly matters for most activities) has resulted in a game that, while exciting and captivating at first, quickly loses most of it's steam once you finish the campaign.

    Whereas previously in Destiny 1, reaching end-game felt as though you were opened up to a variety of new, rewarding activities, Destiny 2 offers little to nothing.

    If you've never played Destiny 1 before, I may recommend picking up this game. You'll probably enjoy the campaign, playing some patrol, running the strikes, and getting a taste for Crucible. If you're a long-time D1 veteran, it's quite likely you'll find yourself disappointed and lacking in content.

    I no longer find myself excited for Tuesdays anymore ('reset day' for Destiny). I log on and stare at the Director (menu) for a couple minutes before sighing and putting on another game.

    I hope the DLC fixes the glaring endgame issues the game has, but at the same time, I'm really not happy with the idea of having to pay for DLC in order to experience the "complete game." Bungie took us down this road with D1; it's time for them to get things together.

    It's Decent, not good, not bad. If you dont have time to go **** and carve your way through a rough learning curve, Destiny 2 is not a terrible choice of game. It doesnt make it quality nevertheless. Raids are extremely nice, but of course the problem comes with finding 5 other who are able to be competent and available during your limited gaming window.. At least for me.

    For casual players who need to wake up in the morning and go to work to deal with life, it's not terrible.

Supposedly there was only an 18 month period for the rollout of the now sequel. This would explain the complete lack of content and loss of essential features that were available in year 3 Destiny 1, coming into D2. Also an over use of previous assets, reused content, no variation in enemy types, no new subclasses, and all around no justification for a new release. For any veteran Destiny player, this was not as much a surprise knowing the state that D1 was released in. The release of Destiny 2, however, was an even more egregious sin, being that Bungie had 3 years behind their belt in the form of player feedback for D1, and clear improvements made over the games lifespan. This was not a whim of ignorance, but rather a deliberate manipulation of the player base into believing that Bungie had their best interests in mind. Every action taken in making this sequel was to fatten Bungie's wallets and pull back the amount of work that the developer had to roll out, to the detriment of the player base. Coming into yr2 of D2, the game will potentially be back to its former glory after a year of catching up, Bungie being millions of dollars richer in the process. Shame on them. Expand

    The environment and graphics are INSANE, the first moment i went into Strikes i was thrown into some Vex complex and had one of my biggest NERDGASMS. It looked so friking awesome. This game for me is wasted potential. If the level design, somewhat parkourish theme and all the amazing weapons and armor were used for a single-player game or MMO with a good story - like combination of DestinyThe environment and graphics are INSANE, the first moment i went into Strikes i was thrown into some Vex complex and had one of my biggest NERDGASMS.     I love the mechanics of this game, and it looks great. The problem is it feels more like an add on to Destiny 1. I think the amount of money for DLC is crazy. Think about it! For $20 more you could buy a new game. Seriously stop supporting this kind of behaviour.

    Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

    Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
