Decent game but I don’t like being lied to and ripped off so haven’t touched destiny or destiny 2 in probably 4 years now! Way to go bungie your own greed has ruined your loyal following of destiny. Wonder how many people actually still play this game and waste their money on all these bogus expansions they release. Never again will I pre-order a game because if you haven’t noticed, every game since the 2000’s has been absolute trash and a complete money grab either full of micro transactions or selling additional content. What happened to just making great games for when they release? I know I won’t be wasting anymore money on buying a ps5 or all these trash overhyped games they make these days. They all suck, I would be happy to pull out the n64 again and play those games that are actually fun. Expand

Boring combat, confusing system and frankly illegal paywall setup to maximise profit over consumer.
I've poured maybe 50 hours of repetitive gameplay into this with 0 growth as I refuse (and frankly don't understand) how to use their billing system as everything seems to have 4 or more separate charges to work!

Let's start off with the base game, and first 2 expansions are no longer available to play. As for the expansions you can play, well as long as you haven't done forsaken, you can still play it. I couldn't but someone said you could, and if you have only like 3 missions are available (1 per week). just really bad. Shadow keep isn't even worth mentioning i mean that expansion was so weak with content i'm surprised they don't call that the base game. They have amended the base game start to try and compensate but it isn't well done or thought through (typical bungie let's be honest, story threads are not their strongest point). Beyond Light was dull, because - same enemies, same stuff that you've been doing, very little diferrent.

Witch queen slightly better (filled with the usual mission breaking quests even now in 2023) and "lightfall" the new one is lifeless, again same enemies... although ONE, one new type but not interesting enough to go "yes finally". i mean i'm not sure why this is even still going. DO NOT waste money on this. Don't let bungie keep going.... they make ubisoft and ea blush.

The gunplay and classes are great, however that's honestly it. It's just replaying the same content over and over again, pvp is a joke and the pve content locks you into requiring a squad which is super boring cause they just use whatever gun/combo instantly melts the boss which makes the devs have to stack the boss with either more HP or a dumb can't get hurt mechanic. Very disappointing.

It was a great game before it became free to play. Then the story was shot to pieces and the treadmill of grind was magnified. To make matters worse the end goals are moved each season and your previous achievements are made worthless.
Overall if you have never played it it is worth a blast but don’t stay in the game for more than one season as the rests take away any worth.

Destiny is the most frustrating and unrewarding game I have ever played. I kept supporting Bungie in hopes management would die off or quit and some fresh people, that were actual gamers, would join the upper ranks. Unfortunately that is never going to happen. Eventually Destiny will become a mashup of desperate streamers and naive newbies wandering around in a gamer's desert asking for water(content). FYI, you can buy a water bottle at the Bungie Store. I would believe ANY major developer in this day and age would understand this is a poor way to do business.

I fully understand locking new maps, skins, and missions behind a paywall, I understand the developer desire to make money but a game should NEVER lock abilities and weapons that other real life people can Lord over you behind a pay wall, it is not a fair process.

Bungie allows people who pay extra to get devastating weapons like Dead Man's Tale that can easily kill and frustrated players who do not desire or are unable to pay for this upgrade.

They also add inherent class abilities available to anyone who pays, such as in The Beyond Light expansion with the ability to completely freeze other players.

Not being able to move AT ALL is a huge advantage and makes the game unplayable. It's frustrating to have such huge disadvantages ADDED to the base game which can not be overcome unless you pay more money. If you have already paid money for Destiny 2, you should not be forced to pay more to compete effectively.

Either every PVP player should get all new the abilities and have the potential to access all new weapons, OR players should only play with people with the same abilities and weapons, OR give us our money back.

I can no longer play comfortably as I could when I originally bought the game, and changing the effectiveness of people who pay to make it easier for them and harder for those who don't is a very fraudulent and reprehensible act.

    O Patinho feio

Exclama a mamã pata.
    - Alguém te pregou uma partida. Afirma a vizinha galinha.

    - Olha! Um recém-chegado! Gritou uma das crianças. Todas as outras crianças davam gritos de alegria.
    - E é tão bonito! Dizia outra.
Bonito?... De quem estarão a falar? Pensou o patinho feio.
    - Oh!... Exclama o patinho admirado.

While the gameplay and music still hold fairly well, and the worlds to explore still hold some beauty and awe to them, the empty characters and non-existent story makes it hard to enjoy the game, despite being a multiplayer focussed one.
If there isn't any intrigue to the universe that you're looting and shooting in then what's the point in the grinding for gear if all you're getting is pretentious storylines and mediocre action.

Story: What story? The first 20 hours were just about doing lazy missions to kill 20 of this, listen to your boring ghost and unlock planets that are littered with the same boring enemies as in the first game. New players don't even experience the advertised story unless they are willing to waste their time doing filler missions.

Gameplay: You jump, you shoot, you pick up stuff. And it's all incredibly underwhelming.

Characters: Bungie tries to make an MMO, yet is too lazy to make memorable characters or NPC's, The game is as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle. Not a single character is worth listening to.

I bought the game for 4 Euro's, but i still would have rather spend it on something else. I've had a terrible experience with this game, forcing myself through it. This is not a game, it's a complete joke. I give it a 3/10, it is terrible!

On the other hand, there are some issues I have with this game. For starters, the time limit on Nightfall strikes simply adds greater frustration to the game and is a cheap way to increase the difficulty. It also makes it a requirement to have a full fireteam to complete the raids. In the first game, I was able to complete raids and strikes on my own, but that is now impossible. This is frustrating because there are not always people available to play with me, making people with a busy schedule (such as a university student) less likely to ever complete strikes or raids. The other complaint I have for this game is the fact that shaders have been turned into consumables. This is an obvious attempt at a cash grab, and there are no communities who like having things taken away from them that were available in the first game.

Other than these two complaints, this games is extremely entertaining, and I am definitely be looking forward to the upcoming expansion.

They have some great additions to the game such as PVP Gambit, but normal PVP is total waste of time unless you spend your life in this game. Being at level 530 and still getting one shotted with a pistol across the map gets frustrating quick. The game is still a grind fest and you'll get tired of it quick.

To be fair, many things are nice in this game, but it's like they just hired the most expensive beautician to dress up a pig, not just lipstick but mascara and eyeliner. That's it, it looks nice but everything else is just have arsed. The game play was wonderful for the length of the story, then it gets so mind numbingly boring I couldn't go on.
I have no idea why anyone would read critics reviews anymore.

I read user reviews, sift through the ones you mentioned to get to genuine reviews. ( you were wholly misleading in your review of them BTW)
I read the fan reviews and the newcomer reviews and compare their versions.
But one thing I know for sure, is that the critic reviews are either 100% BS, 90% BS, or 80%BS.
You get paid to sit and make positive reviews of all the high budget games because they won't give you access if you make a negative one.
You as a critic have every incentive to mislead and be completely disingenuous. I know why a user gives a bad or good review based on how coherent and complete their arguments are. I can trust they are genuine.
Critics need to either grow a pair, or go away.
Metacritic is the only site I trust, and I know that is the same with many of my peers.

In the end, DO NOT BUY DESTINY. It will reinforce the notion of making barely a game, dressing it up, filling it with extra fee's and ruining the industry. Do not reward this. I want this company to be an example of how bad you can fail if you treat the consumer like fools.

After playing both expansions I can honestly say that the game still feels like a stripped down version of D1 and the changes they did make do not make up for it. Those changes have mostly been centered around player interface and ease of access to game functions. (IE not having to go to orbit for every move you wanted to make). There have been no new enemy factions and only minor changes to the ones we've had since the beginning. Along with limited re-playability as you are only allowed to re-play a handful of randomized story missions once a week. There is also a weekly cap to how high you can get your light up each week. Your light level also limits your ability to participate in certain missions and public events. They know players are getting through their small expansions too quickly so they created this wall to prolong it.

There is certainly a difference in the amount of effort being put into new content (missions, strikes, new areas) then what was done for D1. The first two expansions in D1 felt like it rounded out the base game. The last two expansions were large and really gave you a lot to do. It was the whole reason I bought into D2, but after its release along with two expansions I feel like they are just putting out content to satisfy their contract with Activision.

Criticizing the game is beating a dead horse; it suffices to say the game is boring, somehow not as good as the first, and will probably be fun to play in January of 2020. I say in the last paragraph originally that this game isn't a 2; in the past 5 months I've probably played 10 hrs and that's about 5 apiece for the DLCs - I get so bored that even half of that time I'm just playing to make sure it's as bad as I think it is...then I play basically anything else and have fun.

You know how when you used to do something wrong, and your parents would tell you "I'm not mad at you...I'm disappointed" and somehow that makes you feel worse? Well, Destiny 2 disappoints. It has such massive potential yet seems to let us down at nearly every turn.

In PvP, the game modes went from 3v3, 6v6, and 6 player all-for-one brawl, to just 4v4. Literally one game mode (and this is a trend where I describe something good from Destiny one that, for seemingly no reason whatsoever, is removed from the sequel). Strategy is centered around teamshots, which in and of itself is not necessarily bad. But with only one PvP format there's no room for developing much of a playstyle; just follow your team around and pick off enemies that stray too far from the pack - rinse and repeat. The skill curve is much lower now which I must admit is actually favorable for me because I am absolutely garbage in the Crucible.

When it comes to PvE, Destiny is a "grindy" game and always has been. However, most of the time during Destiny 1 the grind was fun and worthwhile because you would get legitimately powerful, interesting, and different gear from putting in your work. The key here to emphasize is the different loot you'd get from different activities; it actually mattered whether you were patrolling an area, doing strikes, etc. In Destiny 2 it just doesn't really make a difference. Everyone gets the same weapon 53 times, demolishes it for materials to trade in to the Gunsmith for yet another random weapon you already got 53 times.

In particular the weapon "rolls" from the first game made so much more sense and gave players a reason to stay focused on an activity. And these rolls made it ok for when you got the same weapon drop, because maybe this time it would have the stats you were looking for.

Easily the most frustrating thing about Destiny 2 is how often I'll play it and think about how the first game did something better. And I know this isn't a review of the DLC, but goodness gracious what an absolute step in the wrong direction that was. The silver lining is that Destiny 1 took a while to develop and really shine; it is possible (although hope is fading month by month...) that the game can change and grow into the experience we were all looking for in the first place.

I have to explain I'm giving this a 5 because it is still a pretty decent experience for a limited amount of gameplay hours. It is by no means what I would consider a 1 or 2 rating, which is something I'd reserve for a game that's either broken, derivative, shallow, or some combination of those. It's just so confusing as to what exactly they were trying to achieve by stripping out several great aspects of the first game, and replacing them with either something worse or nothing at all.

After the previous game I thought they would learnt their lesson, but it is still the same repetitiveness grind but even worse than the previous one at launch. Towards the end of Destiny 1 it wasn't that bad but this one is a step-back. I don't really see any improvements from the previous one... Very very disappointing since I wanted to give this game a fair chance

Its a AAA first person shooter MMO, that manages to have dumb AI, A very dumbed down UI and a story that makes Wolfenstien look Shakespearean. Systems have been designed to treat the player as some kind of cash point for the publisher. The gun play feels great, but this is the last time I buy a game made by Bungie.

Destiny 1 was one of the best games I've ever played. It was repeatative, it was grindy, but it was damn good. Destiny 2 lost all the charm of the ancestor. It's too casual, the grind became boring (lol). The raid is a solid piece of disapointment and it's very bad in general. Curse of Osiris even made it worse. Pity

soundtrack.then theres this abomination.like who in the hell at bungie thought hay lets take verything great about the first game and get rid of it completely and if you disagree well they removed the difficulty changer, 6v6, 4v4, rumble free for all, mayhem pvp, strike modifier, secondary weapons heavy and special ammo, replayable missions, strike specific loot, unique exotic and legendary weapons, random weapon perks, amour perks, customisable subclases, private matches, fun boss battles where you can melt the boss but the boss can also melt you and not just do a it of damge spawn so adds and go immune rince and repeat, having all the end game activities give good loot and the lower difficulty activities give you weaker gear not the other way around, faction reps, gunsmith weapons, having ships, sparrows and shaders be earned through game play not the eververse, having enemies that are tough and chalanging for anyone except a foetus, the cosmodrome in Russia , the ocean of storms on the moon, the Ishtar collective on venus, the meridian bay on mars, the dreadnought, t he plague lands on earth, siav an entire enemy race, a voiced character.now this could all be slightly forgivavle if everything they added wasn't terrible.they promoted the game with 4 new locations one of wich being the biggest they ever made that being the europian dead zone (the EDZ) now the edz isn't actualy that big as in reality its just a massive donut with fast travel points everywhere so you will only see about 5 or 6 little areas in it and 2 of the planets io and titan are tiny and are empty baron wiats with nothing in along with that io is just an ugly rock with a terrible colour palet the other planet is Nessus that in my opinion is the only decent one as it isn't just a donut it actualy uses all the space its presented with and has a nie colour pallet and is visualy impressive.now this game says it has an epic and cinematic story well it dosnt its story is about as good as the original if not worse its just dumbed down and stripped of potential unlike the original and gives us a likeable character cayde 6. now him being a fan favorite he was featured heavily in the marketing and I was really let down when I found out hes is only in a handful of cutscenes and 2 missions.now this game being a looter shooter you would expect it ot have lot of looting that it does but because all the loot is so similar due to fixed perks and how legendarys and exotics are just thrown away as if they are the effort bungo put into this game all the loot is really boring but there is still the gunplay now it is very similar to first game in this it feels soooo boring due to all the guns feeling the same where as in destiny 1 due to all the guns felling and perks being extremely varied it felt o fun to shoot mone gun switch to another and have it feel so much more different was amzing now its just sort of press buton gun fires shot.now the pvp in the first game was so fun and thrilling and hasd a skill gap but also was fairly unbalanced now in destiny 2 they have removed nay semblance of fun or variation in the pvp as all it is is just team shotting then supers being spammed at the end of a match noq th game is statisticaly a bit more balanced but in the end there its not worth it as its just so boring and in diverse as well as that the monthly pvp event iron banner not only did they retcon an entire year of the first game it had some of the most terrible and unrewarding loot drops dor what was supposed to be an endgame activity and I say supposed because they removed level advantages from all pvp in the game iron banner and trials of Osiris or trials of the nine as it is now called so they are just sweaty boring pvp matches that are extremely unrewarding.now in every destiny game/expansion there is allways a raid and bungo delivered one of the most boring raids yet with some really dumb mechanincs especialy when compared to things like kings fall and vault of glass and not only that the raid has one boos at the very end and when you finaly kill him all you get is one gun one piece of armour and a few tokens and oh yeah screw rep gains now you have little circles that you give to an nps for a reskin of a gun you got 10 minutes ago.aswell as all this bungo remove the grimiore cards that where the first games way of explaining lore oney you had to go to there website to read them this time round they removed it and said they would put it in the game yeah they didn't they just removed lore from the entire game.at the end of the day destiny 2 is a looter shooter with boring and easy to aquire loot and boring and easy shooting full of scumy microtrnasactions that have small bits of lore attached to them Expand

It a copy of D1. Shame on Activision and especialized magazines that put 7, 8 or even 9 to this garbage. If is not enough, the cancer of videogame industry: microtransactions...

Same complaint as everyone else... I really hope Bungie reads these complaints. We paid $60 for another expansion pack. There are no new enemies, similar guns, and everything looks the same as the first Destiny. For a sequel to a game, they literally created no new bad guys or creatures... ****But the game is still fun, I enjoyed it.... I just got bored of it really soon since it was an expansion of a game I played 1 million times before. It felt nothing like a new game or real sequel to keep me coming back for a few weeks more.

First of all, thank you for the free trial. The game is boring. I think i had more fun playing EA games than this. And i will never ever buy another game from EA. It should not be on Bnet. Solitaire and Minesweeper are more entertaining than this. I give it a good zero for being a waste of time. I am not mad or bad... im just being real. Quit making games like these.

Dev apology simulator. They got their money and act like they want to fix the game but they won't. We will all be waiting for Destiny 3 hoping it will be better but too little too late. Worth $10 tops because within a few more months will be unplayable without expansions, expansions that won't add much.

    Overall downgrade from Destiny 1.

Complete slap in the face to all fans.

    Old Bungie > New Bungie.

0 Respect for their playerbase, they only care about Eververse money now.

Fool me twice shame on me...and Bungie did. I should have known better, but this is the same shallow, repetitive, unchallenging and unfinished dreck as the original. It's just longer this time, which is frankly just tedious. (Also, why is my character now a silent protagonist when it talked in the original, and why does it now look worse, not better, than in the first one? The whole thing feels lazy as hell.) What's worse, they are now increasingly tying everything to the real money Eververse store a la EA. It's greedy and insulting, and Bungie honestly doesn't deserve anyone's money for this mailed-in garbage.

The gunplay is still great, I guess, but there is no real challenge. I played this for two weeks and uninstalled it, and have no desire to ever pick it up again. I didn't order the season pass version, and I am glad I didn't. I am done with this franchise. I am not (once again) going to support a game that requires three expansions and a $130 + investment to get it to what the original release state should have been. Skip this mailed-in garbage.

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
