I love this game. Great story, weirdly addictive game play and beautiful to look at. Plays well with no bugs I've seen. If you love fast passed action this is not the game for you. If you like games where you can take your time. Stop to soak in the atmosphere, consider the story and theorize, then this may be the game for you.

Fed Ex walking simulator! What is the point of no interaction whilst trudging through the world with long cut scenes?

I love the Metal Gear franchise. This was a highly anticipated game for me. It was so boring. The product placements were pretty blatant and immersive breaking. Kojima was too busy making a movie and forgot to make a fun game. Luckily I returned the game after I managed to complete this. Do not recommend.

Hideo Kojima create a masterpiece with Death Stranding. Beautifully made, with a great soundrack, an outstanding world and clever gameplay. This game ain't for everybody. If you are looking after a shooter (Call of Duty, etc.), you won't be happy here. Death Stranding is about exploring and connecting people.
After playing it for over 140 hours all I can say is: It's the Game of the Year 2019.

5 hours in and I’m going to return it. Terrible boring gameplay and a ridiculous story. Kojima needs to just make bad movies from now on...

It's really something different, you can argue that its good or not but its really something different.
Like you really have to play yourself to know if you like it or not and if I am gonna compare it to a game then Shadow of The Colossus would be the right game. As that game has this big empty world with no NPCs and most of the time you horse ride from Point A to B to C in this big

Like you really have to play yourself to know if you like it or not and if I am gonna compare it to a game then Shadow of The Colossus would be the right game. As that game has this big empty world with no NPCs and most of the time you horse ride from Point A to B to C in this big beautiful yet empty world to kill Closseus but the gameplay is more traversing then "action" per say same as Death Stranding and that game is one of the best games to this date (judging by how well its remake did it still is) and Death Stranding is just that, A game where you traverse this big empty and beautiful land and the story unfolds as you progress and the game does a good job at explaining things and the story makes sense and if you don't get something or are confused about something then you can read the interviews (Heartman and Deadman ones are the best) so yeah
it's an amazing game definitely worth the nomination of Game of the Year.
This game is a 10/10 for me but people nowadays call those 10/10 Reviews Toxic or "Kojima dick sucking fanboys" what a great world we live in and this makes the message of Death Stranding even stronger, how about that

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With 50+ hours played, Death Stranding is a magnificent and slow smoldering entity of a game, showing it's unique and eccentric profoundness in the story, lore, music, graphics, atmosphere, and everywhere in between...(especially the acting!).. But, there are three major annoyances which you must know, and get used to if you really want to see the Gorgeous world Hideo has given inside...which are the beyond frustrating (and even unresponsive) controls and game play, overly complex and awful game mechanics and interface, and cut scenes that pop in at inconvenient times, one after the other...which feels intentionally done which is a shame. If you want instant gratification and convenience, DO NOT buy this game.

NOTE: SOME SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY/TO EXPLAIN THE SETUP OF THE STORY.

You play Sam Porter Bridges, who is a freelance porter (I.E. package deliverer). The story unfolds with you getting coerced and obligated by a Government package Delivery entity called Bridges into delivering packages to people and communities across the UCA (USA) and rebuilding a Chiral network (glorified internet connection) from the East coast to the West coast. You do this so everyone can access the Chiral network to make and request deliveries for everything and anything they need because after The event known as the "Death Stranding" the dimensional worlds of the living, dead, passed, and, present have overlapped each other, bringing particularly creepy and chaotic BT's connected by umbilical cords from the land of the dead. In an outside world full of large areas of BT's, Mules(obsessed delivery zombies), terrorists, timefall (rain and snow that ages everything it touches rapidly), empty hellish landscapes, etc which make life inconvenient, your goal is to bring everyone onto the Chiral network so they can stay safe and get their deliveries of anything from medical supplies to pizza to art, toys, books and more. On your journey to reconnect the UCA with the Chiral network, you run into quite a few people who you must convince to join by delivering goods to earn their broken trust after events which unfolded with the first Bridges team when they failed to bring the network completely up the first time, before you were a member. Also on your journey, you'll meet a particularly strong terrorist who has a connection to the BT's and will be revealed as your antagonist in the story as you try to unravel why he became a terrorist, how you can stop him, and how to connect a fractured society. Furthermore, you are also trying to reach the West coast in order to replace the President of the UCA, who dies extremely early in the game and also tasks you with reconnecting the UCA's Chiral network to everyone after said terrorist, antagonist, and previously courier company owner took steps to sabotage it.
A few more things to note while you are playing. The Babies, or BB's as they are called can detect BT phantoms, having a connection to the land of living and Dead, they were born to still mothers, and only can live for up to a year supposedly, and it's why you use them to navigate the land. When someone dies, they have to be cremated, or they get necrosis and become essentially a bomb, which they call a void-out and it's so powerful in fact that it'll leave mile long craters. Beaches are also a very vague subject in the story which as far as I gathered, are places between life and death, almost part of the subconscious where people can meet, like the Chiral network, but, internal.
Overall, the game is an easy 8.3 out of 10 for me. Would be a 10/10 if the controls and interface wasn't so unforgiving and frustrating, because it's really a beautifully put together game.

Death Stranding is absolute 100% Game of The Year, the game feel slow but steady, difficult to understand but intelligent, this game is open-world game I looking for years, the gameplay is very very satisfied, the graphics is outstanding, the story is smart. DS will keep you stick with the controller for hours, days, months, years.

    Wonderful movie Semi-finished game
Put the WWII DEMO for the test engine into the game
Add 4 creeps as a level
    No balanced mountain climbing system
Late props make early props meaningless
    Useless sandals
    Temperature doesn't make sense
    Sleigh can't jump
    BT has no value
    Is an invisible trap
    And very weak boss

I was very excited when Kojima announced a new exclusive game for us playstation fans, held back trying to watch trailers and news so i could be surprised in classic Kojima fashion.
Boy was i wrong to do that. I could have saved myself $60 instead of playing this garbage. Took the day off work to play it and everything. Kojima has definitely lost it. Game gets a 1 because it’s not broken,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first I was hyped for the new "Hideo Masterpiece" but after a day of playing Death Stranding, it feels a bit too easy. Aside from combat with MULES, the BT bosses are quite simple to work around. (run and occasionally throw a blood bomb) On the other hand, MULES pose a different threat, you can't kill them, and your defense is minimal at the beginning. I do love it's item management aspect, and traversing the landscape is relaxing gameplay that I can get lost in. It is NOT a game for everyone by any means, but stands out as a unique free roaming game for those interested in that genre. Unfortunately the collision in some areas are a bit janky, but with enough time, I kind of find a way to look past it and mind myself when climbing/jumping in that terrain. But the reverse trike definitely needs to be fixed, with it's stiff movement. Expand

Death Stranding is truly a masterpiece. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. A story with plot twists, ‘Mission Impossible’ style, emotionalism like Interstellar & The Telltale Walking Dead and gameplay as immersive as The Revenant. For some reason, the gameplay loop is so addicting. It starts off slow which I appreciated when the game world opened up later because it is different than anything else in the way it plays, so it was nice having you slowly get used to the mechanics at first. Not long after, I was completely addicted, basically just playing the game for over 15 hours a day. It’s true, the thing you’re gonna be doing the most IS going to be take this from here to there but that is a very shallow description. On your way you will encounter many obstacles, wether human enemy’s, invisible BTs or just the rough terrain leaving you to figure out how to get across. On top of that you have to manage your inventory & watch out for your balance which keeps you immersed the entire experience, I literally did not want to even stop to go to the bathroom. Later in the game you can even build roads that pass through all the important delivery points which you can then use to deliver with your motorbike or even trucks making it a LOT easier and faster. The open world in itself is beautifully crafted and breathtaking, which the game knows, panning the camera out often, allowing you to enjoy it fully while an amazing and befitting song starts playing making you just astounded at the world’s sheer beauty. The story starts off as expected very confusing, which the main character ‘Sam’ expresses too. As you start getting it more and more, Sam will also start understanding it more. And then The Ending.. Oh The Ending. Incredibly rewarding, deserved and well thought out. This truly is Hideo Kojima’s Magnum Opus and an amazing beginning for the new Kojima Productions. Expand

Really enjoyed the story and the gameplay. The gameplay has a similar feel to games such as Minecraft in the sense that it is more laid back for the majority of the game although it does still include combat and horror with stealth elements. Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it. This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
