Overall Death Stranding is a very slow paced and requires a lot of patience and time but in the end is very rewarding. I am only on chapter 3 and I’m at 31 hours, and I am absolutely loving this game, even though I am not on a story part and just delivering tons of cargo, I don’t mind. This game allows me to completely zone out from the real world, and into something more relaxing and stress free. I definitely would say this game was worth my money and if you really wish to buy this game, note that you will need patience and time, if you get bored easily then this game is not for you. Expand

About 350 hrs later, (I milked the heck out of this game) what an experience! It was beautiful visually, the story was engaging and wonderfully... bizarre, but not so far fetched; at least not in my mind. The music was amazing. Acting was perfect, save one scene at the end with the president (no spoilers.) Game play: I loved all of it!!! well, I wasn't fond of combat with the humans, just because I wasn't, it wasn't bad, I just preferred to avoid at as much as possible, which is a choice you can make. I loved fighting the BTs, or not fighting them as well, there's other options to "release" them. The options for traversal were fun, it was like trying to figure out a puzzle; what's the best way to do this, this, and this, knowing what you'll be possibly facing. I can't understate the beauty of the world! To traverse it, and I use traverse, so many people say "walking sim" lol, I spoke with someone recently who thought that, started the game, and died, immediately. Not a walking sim! So much went into traversal. Sharing the world with others in a building, but non-seeing way, lol, very interesting and certainly helpful. When you're just about out of energy & a generator shows up, nice. Packages are sizzling away and a timefall shelter appears in the distance, thank you kind stranger. Scaling a mountain and ran out of rope, someone just happened to put one up near by, perfect! Definitely made you feel, like you had an invisible helping hand of strangers in an invisible community. It's a shame so many people who haven't played it are still giving it bad reviews. Or they played only a small amount. But, from what I read, there's just no reasons stated behind most of the bad reviews, so my belief, they didn't play it.
In summary, Death Stranding is beautiful aesthetically and musically. The story is interesting and definitely full and engaging. The world is an oyster and you are the pearl. The gameplay does take a moment to get the hang of, it's different, but so very addicting. If I didn't have so many games in backlog, I'd be playing it again, I miss the world already. I voted this GOTY. I'm so glad it got awards though, it deserved many. Such a interesting story in a beautiful world. It's engrossing, if you buy it, you will, most likely, spend a lot of time there :) Happy gaming, keep on keeping on!

    Cyberpunk 2077:
    -*Mejor actor: Keanu Revees

From the story of how it came to be, to the controversy it knew it would receive. These points are important because what I am about to say is in fact controversial. The game is not for everyone, the game is an experience that takes from you and is even unforgiving. Isolating you in a harsh world with close to no way of defending yourself for the longest time. It makes you, the player, feel this way on purpose. You experience this loneliness, this solitude, and you feel as though you can't do this on your own; but once you start connecting that chiral network, and you step out into the world again, a feeling overwhelms you. A feeling of joy, relief, happiness and embrace. You feel like you're not alone anymore when you see all the signs that other people were in the same world with you. Bridges in the distant that now help you cross a once dangerous lake, signs left behind by other players leading you to hidden secrets and discoveries. You can even see the paths that others took and follow in their footsteps, or someone can follow in yours.
There is a sence of satisfaction and pride, even heartfelt joy when you end up helping someone on their journey in this game. You had to feel all that loneliness and downs to appreciate the love, the feeling of care, the ups. Hideo Kojima said he wanted to make a game that connected people, brought them together, not just in the game but in real life too. I think he not only did that but told a story about humanity as well that I can admit left an impact in my life. Death Stranding is not a game for everyone, especially hardcore gamers who enjoy action games the most, but the game made me feel like someday, maybe a game with passion and caring will be more popular than a game not about care or preservation, but one of violence and guns. This game is not for everyone. So let people enjoy something that is finally for them. There is no need for any hate, no reason to bring anything or anyone down.

If story-based games are your thing/you primarily play games for the story, I'd say it's worth checking out on that merit alone.

    Gameplay: 6.5/10

I admittedly found the base gameplay enjoyable, but by no means perfect. I found it similar to Breath of the Wild; you largely walk from empty landscape to empty landscape, and the environment is often your biggest adversary. I personally quite enjoyed the walking sim aspects, but found the combat rather lacking, the boss fights underwhelming, and some of the missions too tedious; the challenge often lies in either having to cover far more ground in one stretch than Sam is comfortably able to do, or cover ground without being able to fabricate new equipment before setting out. I felt it was at its strongest when you could properly prepare, and at its weakest when you couldn't. While the boss fights themselves were underwhelming, they at least had a lot of spectacle; they have a grand sense of scale, and almost look like things straight out of some type of scifi or fantasy movie. Looking cinematic doesn't fix the fact they, for the most part, present little challenge and feel more like filler.

    Visuals: 9/10

The game is, for the most part, visually stunning. Its geometry, texture quality (in most cases), animations, and character models are among the best I've seen across any platform, and it has a very nice implementation of tessellation on snow. With that said, it can drop frames very periodically, it has just okay texture filtering, and its anti-aliasing solution leaves a lot to be desired; small details, such as fences or staircases, shimmer and appear jagged as you move.

    Sound Design: 9/10

The sound design in this game is very on point, and lends a lot to the overall experience. The choice of music is generally solid in my eyes, while the sound effects and audio cues/"ambient" music add a LOT to the game. For example, when in a BY area, an ominous high pitched pulse continually plays, and the BTs themselves make sounds.

    Overall: 8/10

Overall, this is a game I greatly enjoyed despite some missteps in the combat, writing of dialogue, and tedium in some of the later missions. If the concept of a walking simulator with a good story appeals to you, I highly recommend it; the description of a walking sim frankly isn't very far off from the truth, and it's those moments in which I feel the game is at its strongest. I'd probably have enjoyed the gameplay more as a whole if the combat was either given even less focus, or enhanced to a significant degree, particularly when the boss fights already nailed the spectacle; the systems in place simply did not make those parts enjoyable to me at all. This has easily been one of the most unique games I've played, and despite some glaring issues with it I rank it quite highly. I went in not expecting great things due to how controversial/polarizing it's been, but I walked away quite impressed overall, and I'm looking forward to what Kojima puts out next.

This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
