    I'm in awe. This is everything I wished for, amazing adventure and incredibly fresh story. I finally got something fresh, completely new and different from gears of war and call of duty mindless shooter chewing gum kind of games. This year was amazing for single player games and this is a main title to crown them all. Must have title.

    Its a game for the lucky ones that will actually understand it. Lots of people are judging it basing just on prejudices. If you are capable and willing to try something that is more then a call of duty, give this masterpiece a try. You will not be disappointed. A true masterpiece.

    Ok, I understand why so many people hate on this game. Hell, after 10 hours I was getting discouraged and a little disappointed too. And I really didn't know what to make of it. But I kept playing, cause I knew there will be more to it. And today I finished it. And I can tell that you it was fcking worth it. It was. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so this has to be enough: I'mOk, I understand why so many people hate on this game. Hell, after 10 hours I was getting discouraged and a little disappointed too. And I really didn't know what to make of it. But I kept playing, cause I knew there will be more to it. If I could give it more, I would. For me it's up there with Bioshock Infinite which I played like 30 times. I'm going back to DS right away, going to to Platinum :). This game is amazing.     This game is a view into the future, where everyone will be aisolated and the world business it's going to be around logistics, it's about the physical disconnecting society and a full dependency of internet, it's extremely deep, and a visual work of art. Masterpiece.

    DEATH STRANDING is not a game for everyone. You probably will complain that it is too slow, or there isn't much to do other than deliveries. You might even get irritated with the fact that you have to drink monster energy drinks to replenish stamina, and do not receive a single piece of drywall to put your fist through. You'll even cry foul when you slip off a cliff carrying 150lbs ofDEATH STRANDING is not a game for everyone. You probably will complain that it is too slow, or there isn't much to do other than deliveries. You'll even cry foul when you slip off a cliff carrying 150lbs of equipment on your back and lose it all to the evil water flowing throughout. Now that you understand you are not the center of the universe in DEATH STRANDING, let's move onto how you're the center of the universe in DEATH STRANDING. The game is more or less a third person adventure with item management and terrain navigation features. At first the game starts very slow, walking everywhere you deliver random things to holograms inside waystations and the like. The opening is cinematic heavy with an emphasis on getting you confused with terms and pseudoscience that wouldn't and couldn't make sense to the uninitiated. However, things become less confusing the deeper you go,assuming you can pay attention long enough to put plot points together. The navigation is difficult at times but may be trivialized by clever placement of tools like ropes and ladders and bridges. This is intentional as the game is really more a commentary on modern society as a whole rather than a conventional video game. The act of placing a ladder to scale a cliff to ease your journey is not only a statement, but also a strand of social commentary on what it means to be human. We use tools to not only convenience our lives,but the lives of others as well. The asynchronous multiplayer accomplishes this task well. The first time you see a ladder or bridge somewhere you had difficulty crossing before,brings a sense of togetherness in that we all attempt to accomplish similar goals.     The most immersive game I have played since red dead 2. As a huge fan of survival simulation games the gameplay here was everything I could want it to be. People say I really like “dad games” maybe this is another one of those? The story kept me at the edge of my seat also. If you enjoy weighty games and more survival based games I can’t recommend enough.

Speaking from personal experience though, I think Death Stranding offers an unparalleled level of cinematic immersion.     Best looking game I've seen. I like narrative driven game and, well, it's narrative driven alright. Fascinating, new concept and I must say, relaxing as well. True, not for everyone BUT everyone should try it at least once, like sky diving...erm..ok ..maybe not skydiving..

    Love this game! It has a slow beginning, but once it picks up your hooked! You need to give it about 10 hours and then you can see why it's so addictive, only thing I dislike is how fast enemies respawn.

    This is excellent, new, rewarding, and entertaining. It's not for a casual player, or someone with short attention spans, and is not going to be enjoyed by all. The gameplay is purposeful, and the mechanics are very hardened and feel real. I love all the dialogue and learning more about the world, as well the idea of connecting the entire world and the points on the map.

    People hate new and unique stuff, also people are expecting something like MGS with guns and fighting etc. This game is worth it in my opinion, polished new ideas interesting and fun to play to chill, not everything should be the same as CoD Fallout Elder Scrolls etc, it was made to connect players in a new way so deal with it people

    Довольно агрессивное вступление, но, приступим.
    1) Геймплей.
    Не верьте никому. Геймплей в игре есть. Эта самая "рутина", за которую все ругают игру - ничто иное, как небольшое (спорно) количество механик, доведённых до идеала. А, да, если вы за TP шутером, то вы этого почти не найдёте. Игра про путешествия, не про убийства и войну.
    2) Сюжет.
    Скорее, всего вы слышали про кодзимовские сюжеты, а если нет, то, внимание...
    Сюжет - изумительный. Не такой глубокий, как был в серии МГС, но он проработан до каждой нитки, каждого слова. Никаких безответных вопросов, запутанностей и минимум противоречий. Если вы любите сюжет в играх - действуйте. Продукт такого масштаба не всегда наделён хорошей сюжетной составляющей.
    Вы когда-нибудь слышали про катсцены Кодзимы?
    3) Катсцены.
    В этой игре просто шедевральная постановка сцен. Каждая катсцена уносит тебя в этот мир, заставляя идти дальше, дабы увидеть еще одну. Вы действительно почувствуете "реальность" происходящего перед вами. Шикарная актёрская игра, что Ридуса, что Миккельсона не оставит вас в стороне. В этом можете мне верить.
    4) Атмосфера, ОСТ.
    Честно, я не смогу описать атмосферу этой игры никаким другим словом, кроме "волшебной". Нет, речь не о магии и мистике. Просто это погружение надо прочувствовать. В совокупности с остом от Low Roar, ваше сердце, даже если оно свинцовое, растает, как эскимо знойным летом. Кодзима и ко выбрали идеально подходящую музыкальную составляющую, а исполнители именно такую и написали. Послушайте их альбом, убедитесь сами :)
    5) Итог и мысли вслух
    Death Stranding (игра Kojima Productions, респект им) получает от меня смелую десятку, рекомендую попробовать, даже если жанр адвентюр вам далёк! Честно, от происходящего в игре (даже не в сюжете) невольно наворачивались слёзы, то ли гордости, то ли восхищения. В любом случае, я не буду решать за вас, покупать вам это или нет. Я просто призову вас думать собственной головой. Не верьте ни критикам, ни другим ревьюерам, ни мне.
    Но, если вы решите поддержать этот проект, можете справедливо считать, что своими действиями вы сдвигаете индустрию в другую сторону. В сторону экспериментов, креатива, свободы. Пора шатать рамки, ломать нашу Берлинскую стену. Если мы ничего не сделаем сейчас, через 10 лет мы будем играть в пабг2030 и фортнайт3000.

There is so much hate in the world and this is why there isn't a dislike button on the things you build. Sure, it seems incredibly boring and stupid but it's meant to.     15 hours in and I'm loving every minute of it!. Beautiful world and engaging story will have you hooked from the beginning. Not to mention the soundtrack is off the charts!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought Death Stranding cold. I've never played Metal Gear Solid, no idea about who the designer is. I bought it becuz I'd heard it was a delivery game. A bleak delivery game. My favorite games are Stardew Valley and Skyrim in that order. Never in my life have I stood up from my couch and CLAPPED at a title screen. I did that with Death Stranding. I think my mouth has been literally open like a dumb fish mouth for 80% of my game play. I was not prepared. For the beauty. The detailing. The sheer emotional insanity of having a protagonist in a video game actively avoiding eye contact with me while we sit on our respective sitting things. For the lil astronaut toy dangling off of BB. Am I running around delivering pkgs and falling on my ass every 2 seconds? Yup. The feeling of fierce protection I have for both the main character and his lil babby frend while trying to complete a task is... I've never experienced anything like it. I apologize endlessly to them both. Out loud. So. I like games with cute animals and planting turnips, or vast open worlds where I can shoot a bandit or 2 with my bow and arrow. Death Stranding has clawed it's way into my top 3 games of all time, I'm on Chapter 2. It's the most dream like immersive game I have every seen, I didnt think anything like it could ever be created. It's just something about the details man. The devil is all up in them. I play slow, I play steady and that's with every game. I dont wanna miss anything. Death Stranding rewards my type of gameplay. It pays attention to how much I want to pay attention. I havent seen this before., an entire dream world fleshed out so fully. Hats off to the game designer, all the money he had thrown at him to create this game and for dropping it amidst so much chaotic reception.… Expand

    Jogo fodástico demais, história envolvente, uma obra-prima para a indústria dos games, quem está procurando um game "fora da curva", diferente de todos, esse é um prato cheio, mas quem não curte algo diferente não se arrisque a comprar, pois esse game não é sua praia.

    It takes a huge amount of confidence to make something new from the ground up with a brand new studio
    The game may have a simple and boring loop but the story is satisfying to say the least.

    Kojima does a fantastic job connecting people, and creating a very unique story. This is definitely one of those games where you will have emotions all over the place and the ending will leave you speechless. It is worth the investment even if it takes some time to get into.

    I finally finished and was willing to work for my 1st platinum in Death Stranding. Many times I've thanked Mr. Kojima for this game. I was in the middle of playing a different game, DS stole me away instantly. About 350 hrs later, (I milked the heck out of this game) what an experience! It was beautiful visually, the story was engaging and wonderfully... bizarre, but not so far fetched; atI finally finished and was willing to work for my 1st platinum in Death Stranding. Many times I've thanked Mr. Kojima for this game. I was in the middle of playing a different game, DS stole me away instantly. About 350 hrs later, (I milked the heck out of this game) what an experience! It was beautiful visually, the story was engaging and wonderfully... bizarre, but not so far fetched; at least not in my mind. The music was amazing. Acting was perfect, save one scene at the end with the president (no spoilers.) Game play: I loved all of it!!! well, I wasn't fond of combat with the humans, just because I wasn't, it wasn't bad, I just preferred to avoid at as much as possible, which is a choice you can make. I loved fighting the BTs, or not fighting them as well, there's other options to "release" them. The options for traversal were fun, it was like trying to figure out a puzzle; what's the best way to do this, this, and this, knowing what you'll be possibly facing. I can't understate the beauty of the world! To traverse it, and I use traverse, so many people say "walking sim" lol, I spoke with someone recently who thought that, started the game, and died, immediately. Not a walking sim! So much went into traversal. Sharing the world with others in a building, but non-seeing way, lol, very interesting and certainly helpful. When you're just about out of energy & a generator shows up, nice. Packages are sizzling away and a timefall shelter appears in the distance, thank you kind stranger. Scaling a mountain and ran out of rope, someone just happened to put one up near by, perfect! Definitely made you feel, like you had an invisible helping hand of strangers in an invisible community. It's a shame so many people who haven't played it are still giving it bad reviews. Or they played only a small amount. But, from what I read, there's just no reasons stated behind most of the bad reviews, so my belief, they didn't play it.
    In summary, Death Stranding is beautiful aesthetically and musically. The story is interesting and definitely full and engaging. The world is an oyster and you are the pearl. The gameplay does take a moment to get the hang of, it's different, but so very addicting. If I didn't have so many games in backlog, I'd be playing it again, I miss the world already. I voted this GOTY. I'm so glad it got awards though, it deserved many. Such a interesting story in a beautiful world.     I have a feeling that some of the reviews here (both good and bad) are from people who have not played the game and either unconditionally hate it or unconditionally love it. For example, I can spy a few user reviews of Hideo Kojima followers who spend most of their review slating the bad ones. This is also true for bad reviews, they are following the DIVISIVE hype train and    REAL REVIEW:

This is also true for bad reviews, they are following the DIVISIVE hype train and slating the game without any knowledge of what it actually is.

    First off, everyone is open to opinions. People are allowed to love and hate this high budget and very high profile release. I find it very unfair to developers and potential suiters to this game that people review bomb it for whatever reason. I can understand why this game can be viewed as BORING and DULL, and people are allowed to have that opinion! - I absolutely despise Overwatch, Fortnite and Apex - I believe they are dull and boring!

    Now that's out of the way - lets settle another issue - I am not a huge Hideo Kojima fan - yes I think his vision has no rival (I'm not saying his vision cannot be trumped, i'm saying the style of his vision has no rival). I am a huge fan of the metal gear series (did not buy survive), didn't like Zone of the Enders very much.

    So without further delay, here is my honest and personal review of this unique piece of art.

    When I booted up the game and saw the intro cutscene and to find a beautiful transition to actual gameplay which felt seamless, I was blown away by the beauty of its visual design and sheer attention to detail. I was also VERY confused, but I found myself itching to know more about the mysterious world of death stranding - I was already deeply (but not blindly) drawn into the game.

    The moment of the first BT encounter, the shivers down my spine and my hairs standing on end mimicking Sam's reaction to them (this is reflected in every BT encounter - I almost hold my breath in real life with the character)! Then the first score kicks in as you are walking, this is a highlight of the game and it is implemented to perfection, I could not make an argument about the quality of creative vision the developers had for this game. For visuals, audio and graphics design, this game is a top tier 10/10 - the best visuals on ps4 to date.

    But I had yet to be won over with gameplay! Sure I walked to central knot city - but this was not enough yet to captivate me. When you get sent out into the free world and make your way up and down the mountains taking on what deliveries you can, and absorbing and embodying the meaning of each and every delivery. This is when you realise the meaning of the gameplay, and this is when you start to get excited about crossing every obstacle and just exploring the world, AND most importantly connecting the broken and isolated people. This game makes you appreciate the connections to people, the positive atmosphere of making people feel connected is amazing. From hearing a reply to your voice from other players who make indentations in your gaming world, to finding a sign that tells you not to give up, just when you think you may have to ditch all of your precious cargo. Encounters with BT's are never tiresome and always make you stop and think. MULES who are crazed porters who want your cargo, chase you relentlessly (but never into BT zones). The gameplay is beautiful.

    The story is as amazing and immersing as it is daunting and confusing. You find your self itching to know more about the world, the events which have transpired AND the progression of the characters you feel an odd connection with. The actor performances here are truly stunning.

    At first glance, you think the gameplay is so disconnected from the story and the actual world. But when you actually play it, once you make a few deliveries and listen to what the story the world has to tell. You instantly feel as though there is this perfect connection between gameplay and story, and you are making that connection between gameplay and story.

    This game is an amazing experience and contrary to what some people say, I found it incredibly exciting! I highly recommend you play this game, and show other developers that we want more games like this - games that try and make a point through a harmony between story and gameplay.

    It's exploration, it's mystery, it's horror and weirdness. You'll get to shooting but just halfway in game. But the little shooting you do will leave you wanting for more. But this is not a shooter. Asynchronous    It's been a while since I played a game and cannot put the controller down. It's been a while since I play a game and want to 100% it.

    It's the best game I ever played, you can see how much effort and souls from Hideo Kojima. Yes, the gaming mechanism is delivering packages, but why could this become a problem? if you ever play Euro Truck Sim2 and its multiplayer mode, you will know it's kinda a similar experience, when you drive for the whole night and see the Sunrise at Scandinavia.

    The reason why this game should be rated 10/10 is because Kojima-san and his team created a new game mechanics which will give you a new video game experience. If people like Kojima would never exist in the video game industry then we all doomed to play in the clone-games like AC, CoD, etc. So yeah, we should support such games which can boost game industry with a new ideas and mechanics.

It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
