I gave it 1/10 on my PS4 Pro and got a refund.

I have now, as of 5. sep 2021, played it on a PC with a 3080 ti. Almost no bugs after 60 hours. Great graphics with raytracing. Probably the best looking game ever.

It feels like a completely different game. A great game. So I have changed the score to 10/10.

For me it’s GTAV x Fallout vibe and the story is awesome. Open world is huge and it’s everything that I’ve imagined. Waiting for a patch though to fully enjoy it on PS4 as there are many bugs but still: nothing that would deserve a 0 rating.

This is a review for the PS4 Pro version of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games for quite a while. Some people were upset with the game's performance on the base version of the consoles, but what about me on the PS4 Pro? Well, I expected much worse to be honest, but still, it doesn't run as it should.

One of the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 is the story, which is very interesting despite being shorter than it should've been in my opinion.
The characters are great overall; I liked V (Female), Johnny and Panam more than I expected. Some characters like River and Kerry could benefit from more screentime, but they were good nonetheless.
The gameplay is pretty enjoyable, albeit buggy at times.
The world is really good! Night City is probably one of my favorite places in a videogame, and most of the quests are wonderful, just like in The Witcher.
The visuals are very beautiful most of the time and the music is absolutely fantastic!
Unfortunately for the game though, there are technical problems. From texture pop up, to FPS drops, audiovisual issues, glitches and even some crashes.
Also, the RPG elements are quite underwhelming (dialogue options & side-activities) and lastly, the A.I. is flawed and the wanting system is almost absent.

    Pros:
    + Engrossing story
    + Fun and varied gameplay
    + Compelling and likable characters
    + Superb quest design
    + Night City is spectacular

    Cons:
    - Short plot
    - Technical/audiovisual issues
    - Underwhelming RPG elements
    - A.I. & wanting system

    Narrative: 8/10
    Gameplay: 8/10
    Content: 8/10
    Characters: 8/10

    Graphics/Audio: 8/10

    Final Rating: 8.5/10
    - Really Great -
Despite the unfortunate launch, flaws and some broken promises, with Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red proved to me once again that they are at the top of their game when it comes to engaging storytelling and characters in an Open World game.

    Do I recommend it?:
Well, I know that it's playable on most platforms, but I don't know if it's worth getting it on the base versions of the consoles for now. I'd recommend it for PC or PS4 Pro/Xbox One/PS5/Xbox Series X owners though.

RPG at it's best with so much potential for further development.

I can understand the frustration of the base PS4 players and indeed CDPR should have at least give a recommendation for PS4 Pro, i.e "for better experience best played on PS4 Pro or PS5" and that would be fair. Now, having said that, I play it on PS4 Pro and although it does seem to be slightly wonky at times there are a number of things that one can do to optimize their experience, look up graphics options. I have no doubt that in due course there will be a ton of hotfixes and tips and tricks like with their previous games and for this, I weight my credit to them, things can only improve from now on. What I would also like to point out is that a really good OLED screen makes it a totally different gig when you switch from a simple LCD TV set. I started playing on my usual telly in the bedroom and just couldn't get the best out of it, then switched to my OLED and the streets burst with colours and gave them a fresh look. Cannot wait for further updates and when a normally priced PS5 is at hand will make it another blast.

Cannot omit the technical glitches but so far the rest is what I have expected, hence 9.

ps: at the time of writing a humbly sized 17GB of 1.04 patch landed, they're on it. Peace out.

I’m desperately thirsting for an expansion that actually continues from which point you left off in the main storyline... All I want is continuation after I left the city with Panam. But I don’t know how they’ll make it work. ANY DETAILS??? I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY FUTURE WITH MY WAIFU!!! Ok but seriously it’s an incredibly buggy game at this point. Even after two major updates that were supposed to supply “hot fixes” to the game. I’ve legitimately lost track over how many times I’ve had a random app close on PS5. Besides the bugs, the story is excellent. A few hilarious moments, and a few gut-punching moments that will make you question humanity. Or if you aren’t as melodramatic as me, you’ll at least say “damn, that’s messed up”. The game looks pretty good on next-gen consoles, at least speaking for the PS5. The gunplay is actually terrific. Tech precision rifles are overpowered though. I’ll give this game a 10 once most of the bugs are ironed out. Expand

Aside from the huge technical issues in the console versions, this game undelivers in pretty much every single area. The AI is maybe the worst AI I have seen in any game in recent memory, let alone a AAA title that has been hyped for 7 years. CDPR KNEW this and intentionally misled consumers.

For me the frame-rate is the worst thing about this console launch. This affects driving and combat ofcourse, which makes the gameplay feel clunky at times. I've experienced 7 game crashes, plenty major visual bugs out of which only one sort-of game braking. Another dozen of minor visual bugs like tips message box remaining on screen even after a game restart, certain clothing clipping and obscuring my field of view, bad textures that never pop. I've never experienced any T-poses or any of those infamous horrifying NPCs that look like they're on ps1. Mostly my experience so far was ok and I don't really relate with all those problems other people are having. On a technical aspect I am satisfied with the number of cars and NPCs. even if they do repeat the models.

The resolution for me was a surprise to say the least. 720p ~ 900p..?? but after I spend some more time I realized that this might have been a compromise for the graphics. I am very pleased with what CDPR pulled off with the visual aspect of the game, it is a beautiful game that showcases one last time what this last generation is capable of. And I am ok with a visual effects compromising resolution!

    -Game Design
    It's just a video game.
My early expectations of the game might have been too high but as the game approached release I started chiseling those expectations by comparing them with what is found in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. I expected Cyberpunk 2077 to be a revolution regarding open-world games, a topic that for me Witcher 3 didn't check either. The world is incredibly immersive and the cyberpunk atmosphere and aesthetic is all there but I expected Cyberpunk to be more of a Bethesda game than a Witcher game which is unfair. This comparison is due to the fact that the civilian NPCs are basically random and feel like a staging not like a simulation, they feel like cutout cardboard people in a theatre play instead of actors. This is effect is due to the fact that the same NPC model is present in the same scene more than once and in some rare instances more than that. I found that the interaction with these random civilian NPCs is very shallow, they have only one or two brief uninteresting and often hostile lines of monologue. I honestly anticipated CDPR to treat these NPCs this way because I knew how they designed their games and it's ok.

I love the call/messaging system that reminds me of GTA 4 and 5. I feel like this is mandatory in any story driven open world in a modern city setting. I think they also nailed the economy system.

The choice and consequence system is great but it isn't a big improvement from what we saw with Witcher 3 doesn't really live up to the scale and branching I expected.

I also expected a great story, side quests and characters. And I am happy to say that I am more than pleased with this aspect than expected. The writing is great and I would advise to read all those notes, little stories and desktop emails you find scattered all over the world because it gives more context and depth to the world and some minor NPCs. My only critique story wise is how V is pretty much very scripted if that makes sense. But then again that is a design choice and might help cohesiveness.

I really expected more from them on the RPG mechanics side, they feel shallow sometimes. And I would've liked the attribute system to be more meaningful. It's not bad by any means but I am personally not satisfied, maybe it'll grow on me.

    -Conclusion
Aside form all the bugs and performance issues, I really love this game for everything it is, the setting, the stories, the characters and despite of a lot more missed opportunities that I didn't mention. No game is perfect, there always has to be a compromise somewhere.

As a gag, I consider Cyberpunk 2077 to be the child of GTA5, The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4.

It runs pretty decently on my PS4 Pro, no major glitches, slow downs or unrendered textures. I know others have derided CDPR for releasing an "unfinished" game, but this was always meant for the next gen of consoles and higher-end PCs. Plus, newly released games (of this scope) almost always have bugs on launch. Give it some time, and this will get polished. Better yet, wait until the next-gen console versions are finalized or update your PC to get that higher-end spec and judge it, then.

At the end of the day, I've put in some 30-40 hours since launch which is more than I've ever put into a new game which tells me that no matter what faults this title might currently have, it's still engaging and highly playable. Don't let the mob convince you that it's broken since it won't run on their PS4/XBone (original) or that 2012 ThinkPad. Hype went overboard on this, sure, but it's still very, very solid.

If you have the hardware, this game delivers. If you're looking for a perfect product, good luck. Hasn't been made yet, and some people will complain no matter what they're given.

This game was a huge undertaking and I think CDPR bit off more than they can chew with their ambitions on this title. Once I'm done with this playthrough I won't be playing it again on the PS4. I will wait until it's patched to start a new journey through Night City on PS5.

It's an amazing place with the character and atmosphere CDPR promised. Some of the side jobs are so well done I almost enjoyed them more than the main story line. I loved the banter between Johnny and V and having the random comments from Johnny. Along side this the choices actually felt like they meant something in this game. I would seriously feel bad if I pissed someone off. There were even a few time where the decisions were difficult to make. Some of them are on timers which go too fast. I love the music which is a big deal for me. The talk radio is fantastic. I love me some crafting too. I have a few issues with the menu but I'll get to that. I've come across many references to other games that the studio clearly appreciates. I spent a lot of time just walking around, listening in on conversations, reading store signs and lore. Bugs, glitches and texture popping tend to happen not nearly as much if you're walking around. The main story is not super long and that's okay. I felt if they had added more it wouldn't have just been filler. There's enough in the game to keep you occupied.

My biggest gripe about the game is the menu. Which is my biggest gripe about most games. There's a lot of going back and forth and it lacks some conveniences. For example, if I have a bunch of items I want to deconstruct I don't want to hold triangle for a few second and do it repeatedly. Give me the option to select multiple items. I work in IT and it severely annoys me when I can't do multiple things at once.

The game is not unplayable at all nor is it broken on PS4. Not once did I come across anything that impeded my progress in the game. There are occasional crashes (i just use that as an indicator I've been sitting on my butt for too long and need to take a break). I also went into the PS4 with low graphical expectations. It's a great game and just needs some more love. I could drone on for awhile about how CDPR broke promises and shattered childhood dreams and how getting a refund in protest will make no difference. There are enough bad reviews here based solely on bugs and video game industry shenanigans. I think I even read somewhere that someone said there no NPC's in the city. Did we play the same game? All this said though, I can't recommend this game on PS4. Even with patches and perfection Cyberpunk just wasn't meant to be played on the older consoles. BUT it is a good game and will be great once CDPR fixes all the things.

TLDR: The game is great, the menu is a bit clunky, don't get it on XBOX One or PS4, be patient and wait a month or two for when the actual release date should have been and get it on PS5 or PC :P

But beneath all those issues, Cyberpunk is a REALLY good game. Its excellent game world is filled with stuff to do, great characters and challenging missions.
Skill trees and skill progression is excellently done too.
Combat works well. Driving, less well. Hacking is excellently done all round, once you figure out how to use it best and what perks you want to unlock. Basic stealth is useless, tho, with even basic goons able to spot you thru solid walls, so you need to invest heavily in stealth skills if you want to do things quietly.
Crafting is excellent, and you can dismantle all loot into components and then use these components to craft new clothes, weps, items or ammo. Or use them to improve your fave weps and clothes. So, no need to throw away your fave t-shirt! Just upgrade it!
I've focused on hacking and crafting, and its working well. Upgraded weps are so powerful, you dont really need specialist combat skills to beat enemies with them.
Loot is everywhere in the game, so you'll be finding masses of stuff all the time. What you dont need, you can sell or dismantle.
Grinding is easy too. Map not only has masses of side missions, but also crime events. These events are mini missions where you just blast away few goons, and then loot all their stuff and intel. Great and fast way to get XP.
Smart thing about XP is that you get XP from everything you do, from crafting to shooting to hacking. And this levels up your skill sets. And then there's the overall XP which levels up your 'core'. Bit like Skyrim really, and it works swell.
So. If you can ignore visual glitches and sometimes rather drab looks, you are in for a treat. This is a very solid, and a huge game. I like it enough to give it 8/10 right now. And if they polish the looks and iron out all the bugs from the PS4Pro version, I'll up that to perfect ten.
Important note: I'm no fanboy. While I love Witcher 3, I've found it rather mainstream and dull compared to, say, Elex. So, this is no fanboy rant, this is unbiased opinion on this game. And I really hope CDProject keeps polishing the game, and ignores all those haters, so that the game can evolve into the masterpiece it can be.

It’s very disappointing for a developer that has stood head and shoulders above all the other titans in the industry.

And just as clearly, there are trolls review bombing the game out of frustration or because they never wanted the game to succeed in the first place. Unless they received advanced copies, there is no way they have experienced much of the game. People love kicking a dog when it’s down but, frankly, CD Projeckt Red deserves the criticism.

Night City is a massive, sprawling, and densely packed world to explore. I’ve played about 12 hours and haven’t even met the Fixer from the trailer, as I got sidetracked with random quests and hunting bounties. There is just so much to do and discover, and what I have seen so far has been lovingly crafted. The skills, perks, cyberware, and gear system also have a lot to offer as to be expected of an RPG. I was also pleasantly surprised that the gun and melee mechanics were better than the trailers left me feeling.

But there are serious issues to address. I’ve never played a console game this buggy. My game has hard crashed four times. After the first couple of times, I took to manually saving about every 10 minutes on 10 separate files in anticipation of file corruption. I’ve also had environmental glitches and dialogue issues. These have all been fixed by reloading a save file, but I didn’t know to do that initially. I also “turned down” the graphics by disabling some features like lens flare in the hopes of avoiding more issues.

So, my score is based on the awesome potential for game. As bad as they are, all of the major issues can actually be fixed in my opinion. Of course, the damage is already done and it’s a real shame. If you are interested, I recommend waiting to play this game once it’s had a proper patch or two.

I love just being able to do hours of side quests and forget about the main story and just get lost in the world. Only it ended up being that partially. Thinking deeply about it over the couple days since it's launch is that it would have undoubtable benefited CDPR had they delayed the game until early 2021/early spring2020 has been a **** year for a lot of people and the COVID pandemic certainly hasn't helped things. For me, one of the few redeeming things of 2020 was going to be Cyberpunk 2077. Only it ended up being that partially. Thinking deeply about it over the couple days since it's launch is that it would have undoubtable benefited CDPR had they delayed the game until early 2021/early spring when they announced the first delay. Certainly when they announced the most recent one.
I say that as CDPR fan and someone who is still absolutely loving their playthrough on the game. I am also playing on the PlayStation 5. While next gen still hasn't received the next gen update yet (early 2021), I have to believe that architecture of these next gen systems and PC's with more modern components are negating/curbing some of the issues that our fellow gamers contending with on current gen. We still face them, just not as bad or frequent. Can't speak for Series X, but I know PS5's ssd does a lot of work. Makes sense why CDPR recommended it in their specs.

Some will say "but it started and was marketed out as a current gen title!" and you'd be right, it was. I don't know how, but at some point in my opinion it clearly become something meant for next gen. Had CDPR been able to focus on PC and next gen systems, I feel CDPR would have met if not exceeded that bar that so many of us set. That's largely their fault though. They continued to market this game for all systems and lead us to believe that it was going run well on all systems. (surprisingly well on base model systems I think the CEO said) while only ever showing us (until the very end anyway) video of the game running on PC.
Can't blame anyone for getting upset for falling for that. Lord knows I did, but I again... I’m having a phenomenal time in spite of everything. I’m also on the PS5, a lot of people cant find those system or afford them or the components to upgrade their PCs though. I feel those people have the right to be upset more than anything.

If you can muddle through all the bugs, get the game its really enjoyable but only if your playing on something that at the very least has an SSD. CDPR will be patching this! It will improve! Otherwise wait... it’ll be worth it. So many great games out there were off to a bumpier start than this and now their wonderful games! For me Cyberpunk 2077 has such a wonderful story and that covers a multitudes of sins. The characters are wonderful and I am consistently thinking about them even when I am not playing. I get lost in the sounds and rumble of Night City. It’s music score is nothing short of amazing and I absolutely love all the different artist you can listen to while on your bike or car! When not plagued with issues, that gameplay is pretty awesome too. I actually found the gunplay to be enjoyable. I love the fact that I am getting better as I progress. My point is that the structure is there, its solid and built on a strong foundation. There’s work to do though and it falls upon us to push CDPR to give us the game they promised.

My console is PS4 slim and I'm playing since game release ~2-3 hours per day and games calls me to return again and again to its story, characters, gameplay.

In the very first day the graphics and performance on PS4 slim was much worse than after 1.04 patch and I consider it a very good job of gamedevs and I believe that they will go on with that.

I even noticed that if i load the game, if I don't move in the first second there is no problems with graphics until I move some time through the city. It looks like there is some occupied memory problems or smth like this. The game CAN look great on PS4 slim, I'm sure, there is just some work to do with the game.

What I liked about gameplay - it feels like some old school shooters like Duke Nukem 3D or Shadow Warrior that I liked very much, so I liked this gameplay too.

What I else liked in the game - its atmosphere, characters, the storyline. Some technical problems don't spoil all these aspects of the game.

I am ~15 hours into the game.

The bad: Technical issues. Quest lines are frequently unplayable. Graphics are poor with frequent texturing issues and pop-in while driving. Framerate is too low, especially during combat. Elements of the world don’t feel full or realistic. Most NPCs are not interactive. AI can be dull.

The good: The story is top notch. You will feel like you’re watching a high quality movie with characters you really care about. Side quests are high quality and vary with individual storylines. The music is phenomenal. Combat is fun. Elements of the world are beautiful. The small details and easter eggs spread throughout are great.

I went into this game expecting close to what I received - a fun action RPG that presents a dark, interesting world to explore with rich characters. Having said that, I’m highly disappointed with the technical issues and believe it should have never launched in its current state. I’m confident that CDPR will release continued patches to make this game more stable on the base PS4. There is some serious work to be done to get it to the point where people will be able to enjoy what is underlying. It’s a shame it was released prematurely because it’s detracting from the core of the game, which is special and unlike anything else I’ve played.

    Story : 10/10
    Combat : 8/10
    World : 8/10
    Driving : 7/10
    Technical: 5/10

Overall: 8/10 (until technical issues are resolved - including rebuilding of some systems including AI - then potential 10/10 masterpiece).

The cars are fine and there is soo mutch unique stuff to explore in a awesome city so to end it does it have bugs yes are they game breaking no Should you buy and play it (even if it's on ps4 YES its fun and one of the best games in years by far
The only missing point is that pc really is a bit better than ps4 so,, just 9 out of 10

I'm playing on PS5 and really don't understand all the hate, especially about stuff that doesn't matter. Is the game unpolished and could have used some patchwork prior to release? Yes. Is the game play fun, world and story captivating, and basically like playing bladerunner the game? Hell yes. I would say people just like to hate on stuff and it's a great game so far.

I have an original PS4. Yeah, it crashes, yeah, there are some bugs, but it's not unplayable for me. The game underneath is so much fun, and I love the world and narrative. Gameplay is tight, and whatever fighting style you choose is a viable one. The bugs will be fixed, skyrim came out looking like garbage, and this is nowhere near that level of buggyness.

The game is playble and it's story and immersion is amazing. The graphics are as downgraded as any PS3 game that was made primarily for PC (Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Vegas etc.) or was cross-gen (GTA V) as this game is now. Should it be made only for PS5 or PC? No they hide the truth and yes that's bad too but this bashing here would have happened anyway. Trolls and haters are trolling and hating for them selfs not for a greater cause. See the review bombing of TLOU2 and Death Stranding games with no bugs and downgrades...
P.S. For the idiots who bash this game with 0s... Have fun playing Fallout 76, ESO and Mass Effect Andromeda's multiplayer (I liked the story) and Anthem because this is the type of games Bethesda and EA will make with Elder Scrolls 6 Starfield and the new Mass Effect and Dragonage if we show them that we afraid a bunch of fixable bugs that all releases always have. They use that as an excuse to kill single player AAA games. Money (aka. MTX) talks but I don't listen. I prefer playing a good single player RPG in 720p then any other MTX riddled BS in 4K especially if it's f2p. Scoring an 8 to be more realistic but it will be an 11 when they fix the bugs. Gotta get back to the game. Have a nice day to all...

Upset that they have restrictions on romance people but other than that game is great on ps5 hardly any problems feel bad for others who don’t get to experience this greatness. Others are just last of us stans which are just like Trump fans. They are the ones giving it 0s tell them to cry harder. Game is amazing can’t wait to see and play more!

Wow, This game took a long time to get to us, and you know what, playing on a ps5 it has been a great experience! Yes, there are bugs and glitches here and there and it is very much a hassle but the game is amazing, the gameplay is good and the storyline kept me locked in. Graphics are not out of this world but it’s not a step back in anyways. I say it’s definitely worth playing!

A rich gaming experience with plenty of ways to discover and interact with a very interesting world. Well done CDPR. Runs fine on PS4 Pro. This review is assuming that the developers will fix any remaining issues and even enhance the game in some minor aspects, and history shows that they will.

Played the game for more than 15 hours now, and all I can say, it’s exactly what I had in mind.
The storyline is well written and immersive, characters feel unique, many things to do explore, never feels repetitive, overall great game.
Few bugs here and there, with graphics not as good as next gen consoles or high end PCs but that was expected. 9/10

I feel that after some patches the game will get better and credit to CD projekt red for acknowledging that there are bugs in the game and that they will work to improve the game rather than leave it a buggy mess.I absolutely love this game, yes it is buggy and I have had the game crash about 4 times while playing but to be fair that was also after playing the game for 4 hours straight. A MASTERPIECE and a MUST-HAVE game of this decade! 10/10 but -2 points for the consoles.
I've played it both on PC (4 cores and 6GB graphics) and PS4 slim. Cyberpunk absolutely ROCKS ON PC (some minor, NORMAL release bugs) and is quite ENJOYABLE on a 7 years old PS4 (I had little to no bugs for the last 10 hours and although the frame rate is very low It's still an AMAZING EXPERIENCE,

Some words for those of you who read biased, unfair and deceptive REVIEWS MADE BY HATERS: don't judge the game by its hype and unreal expectations. It's an open world RPG and what it means is you need to upgrade your hardware! If you barely meet minimum requirements, at least try to keep your system clean and your drivers updated!
I believe that such a great studio as CDPROJEKT RED won't leave Cyberpunk at its current, a bit too early version. Be patient and just wait for the patch (PATCH 1.04 available).

I launched Cyberpunk 2077 on my PS4 Slim several weeks after the release and most of the bugs were fixed, so I was able to play the game from start to finish. However, the quality of textures was painfully low, I usually had only 20-22 frames per second while driving around the city (with dips below 20), and some objects tended to disappear. The technical state and graphics of the PS4 version are awful, which is a shame, because the game itself has one of the best stories I have ever encountered, its gunplay is really good, and Night City is very impressive. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game brimming with potential, and it damn near reaches it on so many occasions, but the pitfalls of its development ultimately drag it down. There's still a lot to like here for RPG fans and lovers of the genre, but it's far from the generation-defining masterwork that the world was waiting for.
