What bugs are people talking about? I'm playing right now and it's actually very solid. I remember Red Dead Redemption 2 PC launch, well that one was awful. AC Odyssey was weak, everyone knows it, but Valhalla was solid step back to what made AC games good. People seem to forget that Black Flag had huge open world to explore, so many locations. Only games from now on that deserve to be inspiration for future assassin's creed's are following: AC 4 Black Flag, Unity, some parts of Origins and Valhalla. That's it. I really believe in your company, you have made some great games over the years, please listen to your actual fans, who have supported you for years. 9. Variety of different enemies.
    10. Stunning graphics, landscapes, cities.
    Negatives:
    1. Like usual with Ubisoft games, performance could be better, but this
launch is about 300 times better than RDR2 PC version launch (and Rockstar had whole years for that).
    2. Some bugs as expected with huge open world games, but nothing awful.
    3. Is it just me or water seems kinda empty? Maybe i just haven't explored enough idk, i was expecting giant squids, Odyssey had whales, so why not.
Conclusion: One of the most beautiful and fun games i have played in long time.

Really surprised Ubisoft managed to make this. I mean they have had hits before, but after 2019 flop i kinda lost hope, seems i was too quick to judge. AC Valhalla is at least 100 hour game with tons of good content, locations, enemies etc. Story is also surprisingly good, specially if compared to Odyssey.

Similar to Odyssey and Origins in presentation and scale, but it's closer to ACII, ACIII and Black Flag at heart, bringing many old features and ditching some of the things that didn't work in the previous two games. The exploration falls somewhere between that of Skyrim (compass + things appearing when close) and Ghost of Tsushima (visual queues), there's something organic about the whole.

The game offers so much variety that one has to question whether those who claim it is repetitive have actually played the game. The three main elements are the main story, raids for wealth and materials and the settlement building, the latter two are dispensable. Outside of that there are world activities, mysteries (in various forms ranging from encounters, to mini-puzzles, all helping towards world building), collectables (or artefacts, from parkour puzzles to chase down schematics to roman objects), minigames (drinking, flighting, dice games), hunting and fishing requests, assassinations (order of ancients, zealots, daughters of Lerion) and overall world exploring (this world is worth it, there's a photo round every corner for those who like to use the photomode).

All in all, the best the series has offered, using what worked in every entry and dismissing that which didn't. The combat could still be improved, but it's better than most of what came before (Unity had a combat system that worked in the setting, but was limited) and is closer to Origins than Odyssey. The parkour is limited, but the setting is also one that does not favour parkour (I think people place too much emphasis on this as it is only viable in settings that favour it, and having recently played ACII, I did not find myself using it much, favouring run around in the streets instead, the constant presence of guards on roofs does not make parkour that pleasant to use). As for stealth, Syndicate probably had the better stealth system, with the ability to crouch behind objects, but Odyssey was the game I used stealth in the most, and I find I'm using it a lot in Valhalla too, preferring to bow and assassinate my way through camps, but having the knowledge that I am combat ready should things fail. I think nostalgia makes people think the older games were more stealthy than they really were, ACII wasn't all that stealth focused.

Up there with Red Dead Redemption II and Ghost of Tsushima as one of my favourite games for sure.

Here's a 10 to counter fake reviews, most of them make absolutely no sense with their typical "ubisoft sucks, blah blah blah". So far this one is one of the top AC games. In fact everyone should give 10 to this game, even if you think it's 8 or 9, because there's just way too many losers who don't even own this game and they just give 0 scores. It's very important to fight back against this.

That just shows that random bots can't make accounts on steam and write fake reviews, but on this site, they can and they always have. This 6.8 score in reality should be more like 7.6-8.1 but thanks to bots who give this game endless 0's, this score is lower. This usually only happens with extremely popular games and Assassin's Creed Valhalla indeed is extremely popular game. Another good comparison is RDR2 PC version score here and on steam, night and day difference and there's so many more like that.

Now for the bad, I don't remember ever playing a game as glitchy as this. I'm writing this right after release date, so they will likely put things into place with a few patches, but as of right now it really feels like the most unpolished product I ever purchased on PSN. I'm not the guy who cares for a few occasional glitches when they don't affect your progress, but this game is currently much worse than that. The game already crashed twice, I did not complete a treasure hunt as I couldn't interact with the treasure once I found it, and I had to load a previous save a few times due to bugs that would prevent me from completing a quest or get me stuck into places. It's unfortunate cause it really makes it look like the game was made in a rush and with no regard for quality and costumer satisfaction. They could have delayed the release date if they cared to release a finished product.

I personally absolutely, deeply hate Assassin's Creed 3, i have played it only 1 time and i will absolutely never play it again. It takes you 7 hours to play as actual main character while doing most boring missions possible. Just no. While i have finished Unity, Black Flag and Origins at least 3 times. So there's that. I personally really like Valhalla and it reminds me these three games i mentioned. It's not me trying to hate people who like AC 3, even tho i'm very, very tired of them whining about Desmond's death, but again, if you don't like these new games, just give it up. That's it. But to other millions of fans who have played and enjoyed this series past 7 years i would recommend this! All the classic elements like hood, hidden blade, one shot assassinations are back. They removed all the grind from Odyssey, you get 2 skill-points at the time and it's very easy to get them. Story is interesting, characters are likable, graphics look incredible. That's all i have to say. Expand

I have played every single AC game. I was somewhat reluctant about Valhalla because of Odyssey, but Darby and his team knocked it out of the park, the story is engaging and it doesn't feel repetitive, it is a refreshing experience. Clear candidate for GOTY. I still feel the chills of hearing "We work in the dark to serve the light" a great AC experience.

For bugs, yes there are, it is now normal that the first days after launch have some. For my part, I cannot say that there are too many and in any case not annoying

But while I do like Valhalla, I'm not loving it. Because the game has ISSUES. And because the game is nowhere near as fun as the previous games.
First, there is the loot, or the lack of it. The game world only contains handful of armor pieces and weps to be found. Meaning that most chest you find, only contain basic crafting materials. Dull, to say the least!
Then, there is the buggy combat. There is a clear lag on how your character reacts to button presses, and sometimes the hero does not react at all! You are full stamina, and NOT stunned, yet your character just stands there, unmoving, as you try to hammer your shoulder buttons to get the darned hero hitting the darned enemy! Serious bugs alert!
Companions are likewise buggy. Half the time they just ignore you when you command them do stuff on the battlefield. Which can lead you not being able to complete objectives. Ouch!
And then there is the way the hero often gets stuck to the environment, meaning you have to fast travel to get him out!
So, lotsa bugs and glitches aplently. But that's not my main issue.
The main issue is the Vikings themselves.
Now, if you've seen the brill Vikings TV series (2013 onwards), you know how bada*s Vikings can be when done right. Unfortunately, the Vikings in Valhalla are embarrassingly weak and unconvincing when compared to the bada*s Vikings of the Vikings (tm) TV series. Ha, Rollo alone could wipe out these weedy Vikings. With one hand tied behind his back!
Sure, you meet some real macho characters along the way, which helps, but its kinda sad when your hero feels a lame-o wannabe Viking...
So, Ubi did not get the Vikings quite right. They should've been lot tougher, and lot more merciless too. As it is, you get game over if your Vikings kill too many civilians in the game... Sigh...
But hey, on the positive side, the game looks utterly brill on PS4Pro, and runs very smoothly too. And once they clear the bugs, it'll be lot more fun to play. And the skill tree is pretty solid.
So, 8/10 from me. Good game, but could've been so much better.
Added later; I have to drop the score to 7. This is due to the heroes of Valhalla turning out to have zero charisma and personality. Far cry from the incredibly charismatic historic characters you met in ACII, III and Unity. When we meet characters like, say, Thor, in games, they're supposed to impress the heck outta us, Ubisoft, not bore us to death.
Also, I'm sick of the recurring drug episodes in the game. All Ubisoft games have drug infused, hallucinogenic episodes, prolly because Ubisoft crew is anxious to explain away their own drug habits, but in Valhalla, there's just too much of them. Not all gamers say yes to drugs, Ubisoft, even if you do.

Because irl "fun" isn't mindlessly completing tedious after tedious objectives, watching the same automated killing animations over and over again, and falling asleep through some average voice acting and terrible lip syncing. Why is it so hard for these people to create characters that we genuinely care about. Black Flag was decent IN 2013, how has the same studio created less compelling characters 7 years later? But even if the story is bad, the game can still be fun outside of the narrative right? Of course it could. Well it's not, it's boring. The man is now gone after a proper scandal, but the crippled, lame version of the AC series remain as his "legacy". Gone are well-written dialogues and historical facts cleverly woven into an intricate story, replaced by vague Netflix-grade "fanfiction". The core of the game is now pure grind - do the same things over and over and over again, collecting miniscule amounts of resources you need to spend by the ton to upgrade your gear. Or head to the shop and pay to be allowed to skip the grind. But I have found a better move yet - I headed to the shop and did not buy the game. Thus, I saved money and time to play games that actually do not suck. I recommend you do the same! BTW there were no female vikings, no female knights (knightesses), no female legionaries, you get it. That's all BS historical revisionism. Expand

I dont know why its called Assassin's Creed at this point. Every aspect of a true AC js Just an afterthought. The Parkour is generic at best. The facial animations are really not up to date. For an AC game I have never seen a game focusing on Open-combat so much. You are literally playing a Warrior. Remember, this is called Assassin's Creed. Of course IT should be reviewed that way.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.
