The game is unbelievably buggy. I’m astonished Ubisoft released it in this state. Furthermore, combat is janky and lacks impact, despite the flashy finishing moves. This makes it really hard for me to get into a rhythm in terms of the combat, which is something I appreciated about AC Odyssey.

In summary, there’s a lot to like about it, from the setting to some of the game mechanics, but it’s totally bogged down by it being a buggy janky mess. Maybe once they release some patches I’ll try it again but right now it’s just not worth the effort to play.

Korea's Ubi-soft is not censored on platforms except for PlayStation. Despite the fact that censorship is an option, Korean users have shown deceptive behavior.

Xxtremely bad performance, massive fps drops. The game is also extremely boring, melee combat is garbage.

Every hour I spend with the game, I like it a little less. In Odyssey there were camps/outposts/fortresses that you'd locate, clear out, loot, ETC and then move on to the next one. It was a satisfying loop. But in Valhalla...everything is replaced with these colored dots. Even if you go into a fortress and clear it out...there's no feedback letting you know you've accomplished anything.Every hour I spend with the game, I like it a little less. But in Valhalla...everything is replaced with these colored dots. Even if you go into a fortress and clear it out...there's no feedback letting you know you've accomplished anything. Was there a treasure here? Did I actually complete anything? The only thing you've succeeded in doing it killing a bunch of dudes in a fort.

And speaking of "killing a bunch of dudes", stealth feels like an afterthought in this game. Sneaking up on an enemy is more difficult and it seems like the enemy placement and number is randomly generated? They are everywhere, they act like lemmings with the IQ of 2, they are never doing anything interesting, wonder aimlessly, but all swarm to the player's position 3 soldiers at a time.

So, the map objective have been boiled down into colored dots. At least that will make it easy to find them and check them off the list. Not so fast...a seemingly large percentage of these dots are locked behind unbreakable doors or under the ground. Time to frustratingly waste 5 to 10 minutes looking for a cave entrance for an ultimately uninteresting trinket.

The game looks awesome and there are some definite design improvements. The skill tree, ability, and equipment systems have improved in a myriad of ways. The attention to historical detail is astounding and above and beyond what most other game series attempt to do. It's a level of commitment that should be commended. That commendation however shouldn't forgive the poor design choices of the rest of the game's sections.

Oh, and the whole "Chase and catch the floating paper!" minigame has made its return...

Reminds me launch of AC 4 Black Flag, then it also came to both current and next gen consoles. Both are very good AC games.

Absolutely FANtastic!!! Couldn’t have asked for a better follow up to Odyssey.. probably the best AC yet by farrrrr. Played them all and tho they usually get me hooked this one gets me obsessing when I’ll be able to play it again! Love this game good work Ubisoft!

Surprisingly good Assassin's Creed game, not only better than Odyssey, but it's just so much better. But it's pretty obvious that tons of people don't understand the appeal of Snowy Norway or Beautiful England and just call it boring. That's a shame, but whatever. To me 5 hours long Spiderman Miles Morales is boring, so to each their own i guess.

Best game in the series in a while probably one of the best, customisation, exploration, amazing stealth, blending, growth so many fighting styles and abilities!! Immersive as it gets perfect mix of callsic old ac realism and the new rpg style! INCREDIBLE!

BUT UBISOFT removing voice line because someone was offended is dangerous and frankly diabolical !

So far so solid, Assassins Creed Valhalla is a solid rendition of AC. The setting is beautiful, seeing Norway at night is stunning. Graphics are fantastic. Story is cool too, I have nothing bad to say about the story so far. The gameplay is ok, combat feels off. This might be just me, but combat feels like it needs tweaking. After excelent relaunch of seria with Origins and good Odyssey this "game" is not playable at all. A very poor plot, stupid quests, idiot cut scenes about nothing, the characters are stupid and uninteresting, absolutely do not involve in the gameplay. Sound stutters and glitching in some places, while Fps constantly drops from 60 to 25, 30, no matter what resolution: 1080, 1440, or 4k. And it makes game unplayable with all this drops. Absolutely amazing game, one of the best of 2020. Demon Souls remake was upvoted to over 140 - 10/10's with basically 20 minutes. I bet they use these same bots to downvote Valhalla. That's just disgusting.

Очень много багов. Игра очень сырая. Не знаю как на консолях но на пк очень много проблем. Начиная от проваливающегося героя под текстуры и заканчивая лагами на топовом железе.

Basically, it's a good Assassins Creed RPG, though very light on the Assassin part. Not Ezio saga good, but so far it has given me a better experience than Odyssey overall. Particularly in the worldbuilding, the 'World Events' Read: Quests, but they're just interactions with various odd locals, ranging from helping someone deliver a crate of apples, to stealing clothes at a nudist party.Basically, it's a good Assassins Creed RPG, though very light on the Assassin part. Not Ezio saga good, but so far it has given me a better experience than Odyssey overall. Particularly in the worldbuilding, the 'World Events' Read: Quests, but they're just interactions with various odd locals, ranging from helping someone deliver a crate of apples, to stealing clothes at a nudist party. They're misc. quests, but they're handled very well here.

Meanwhile the story also offers a different experience from previous games; Where before, you're either the main Assassin, in this one, you're their ally. Offering them shelter, helping them rebuild, but (at least for the time being) solidly from the outside looking in. Which feels fresh.

Aside from the small bugs we all know will probably stay, what really bothers me in this iteration is the sound levels. Sound effects and the Protagonists' voice seem to be on a very different setting from other characters voices, forcing you in some situations to either have a hard time hearing the NPC's, or get deafened by your own character.

Combat also feels a bit slower, and difficulty settings in combat once again only serve to make your enemies damage spunges while turning you into a wet blanket, but even so it feels right to play it at the highest difficulty. Enemies take several hits to take down, and you can similarly take about as many hits as the average mook/low-class enemy from enemies at your level. I imagine lower difficulties would be shockingly easy though, and just adjusting damage and health numbers remains a sloppy way to balance in my opinion.

What also grinds my gear is that platforming and the like seems to have been reduced to a matter of two buttons; Hold A (xbox) to free run, press B to drop. I miss the days of AC: Unity, where you actually had significant freedom of movement, and where parkour took skill to truly master.

In summation: The world itself and the story so far, have been interesting, fresh iterations on the standard Assassins Creed formula. Modern day story also seems quite interesting for what little there has been so far. (~10 hours of play, 1 Modern Day part.) Two points taken away due to:
    1) Bugs
    2) Sound balancing
    3) The horrifically oversimplified movement.

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.

When Valhalla is at its best, it evolves series mechanics. And when you’re cruising down river, about to blow your raiding horn, there’s nothing quite like it. [Issue#183, p.71]
