It would be a good game if it ended after 30h and its story was more relevant. It is a bloated and uninspired grind game.

Great fun, love the setting and Saxon England looks great. The time period they chose is an interesting one too. Exactly what I wanted out of a big, open worlder to be fair. Loads to do to keep you entertained and it's single player so you don't have to deal with anyone else which is nice. It's not quite the witcher 3 but I think it's great for whatever that's worth.

Definitely one of the best AC games in a while. At least, we have the Brotherhood back with a vast amount of quests and interesting dialogues. Secondly, the whole raid to evolve system is amazing. However, the game has a decent amount of bugs, which do not affect the gameplay, just the impressions. I like the settings of Norway and England, the raidings, social stealth is back, combat system with dual wielding weapons is fun and so is treasure hunting.
I also like the fantasy-like atmosphere with dark forests, fogs, ruins, curses... I needed a game that I just have fun. I do not need anything spectacular or original or ground-breaking. Just pure fun. I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima and

Very beautiful and atmospheric game. Many new game mechanics and slightly improved side quests all make this game amazing. Minor technical issues could not spoil my personal game experience. Highly recommend!

If they actually think 6 hours long spider-man miles morales is worth that nomination more, then that's just pathetic. I'm not saying spider-man don't deserve it, but leaving Valhalla completely out, while giving some short games spot JUST BECAUSE they are console exclusives is pathteic. Absolutelty pathetic. I'm not saying AC Valhalla needs to get "game of the year" nomination, i'm saying, give it ANY nomination. Music, art direction, best action / adventure game, ANYTHING. It doesn't even have to win, just nomination would be enough. I have been gaming over 10 years, it's my biggest passion and hobby and if this game gets no nominations i might just give up gaming. Literally any joy i feel from gaming would be gone and it would be gone because i would know that i'm part of community that doesn't understand greatness. But hopefully it gets some nominations, i'm really hopeful, because i have some faith left in this community, not much, but still, some. Expand

Extremely fun game, if you actually know what you are doing. If you are used to linear games that tell you what to do at every second then don't even try AC Valhalla, it's clearly not for you. This games focuses on fact that YOU will explore the world, YOU will make YOUR own journey. If you don't like these kinds of games, there's no point trying it.

This game is absolutely TERRIBLE. Do yourself a favor and play more of Odyssey as that was a far superior game. My list of complaints and concessions is as follows:
    1. The fighting is jumpy, unsynchronized, and does not feel polished at all. And what is even the point of a shield given the parry mechanic?
    2. The voice acting for the female Eivor is super disappointing. Switched to the

    2. The voice acting for the female Eivor is super disappointing. Switched to the Male Eivor and at least his accent sounds more natural and not as forced.
    3. The loot system is a HUGE bummer. I much prefer being able to switch out a huge variety of weapons like in Odyssey and not have to level up a single weapon. Maybe the endgame is different but 40 hours in and I have decided not to waste my time going further.
    4. The skill system is better. I gave the score a 1 because of that.
    5. Story is okay, I did not finish it so from the 40 hour mark on I'm not sure if it maybe resolves into something super satisfying but I'm writing this review now because I'm upset with this Assassin's Creed offering and think they can do way better.

Typical ubisoft crap that has nothing to do with assasins. The plot is shallow, the combat is clunky and cartoonish with only one finishing animation for each type of characters. If you want good viking stories just go finish all the Skellige side quest inthe Witcher 3. Please don't buy the game, don't encourage them to produce the garbage over and over again using the good names of Assasins.

This game suffers from a very serious delay in inputs and timing in combat. I booted up odyssey just to compare, and for sure combat is absolute **** in this game. The story is awesome so far, but the terrible combat is killing the game for me. Put a pin in it and buy it later on sale

Loving the game so far, nevertheless and I am not sure of the reason why but (maybe it is the landscapes, or maybe the theme in general, a personal preference) I enjoyed Odyssey much more! Not saying Valhalla is a bad game, I am very fond of every aspect Valhalla offers, but boy I miss Odyssey, and I will replay it sooner or later (probably same for Valhalla). Highly recommended! :)

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.

When Valhalla is at its best, it evolves series mechanics. And when you’re cruising down river, about to blow your raiding horn, there’s nothing quite like it. [Issue#183, p.71]
