Currently I have only seen bugs in a cut scene where players don't show up, and a crowd calling for help when a dead NPC wasn't on the ground. Since this only came out a little while ago I forgive them.

For me personally, this is a great surprise. Very very good game. Actually one of the best in AC series. Both main heroes are great and funny. The main vilain is also very charismatic and plot is simple and good. As any game of AC series, it has its lows but in the end this game is great fun and i highly recommend it.

Finally a real A.C. on the market, fun to play, solid mechanics, 2 assassins as main characters and a satisfying story to tell.
Even if is not the best AC game of all time at least it's worth to play it, no doubts.

Now that I've completed the game, I can honestly say that this is the best AC so far in my opinion for number of reasons. Firstly, devs now finally realize that sandbox levels are the way to go with AC, and they have made the stealth mechanics fast paced and less frustrating from the previous games. You have number of methods to dispatch your enemy and all of the mechanics are cool. The setting is very immersive and possibly my favorite one in the series. The characters are all memorable and show wide range of emotions from the emotionally disturbed past protagonists. Finally, the game is just a blast - there are plenty of side missions and all are fun, and the story missions are all varied and offer player freedom. I think this game is the biggest surprise of 2015 for me. Ignore the haters and give this a try. Expand

    Great game! :D
I really love the Assasin´s Creed Franchise, and this is one of the best games in the series yet. It doesnt beat Assasin´s Creed 2, but it's close to be nearly as good.
Love the games 2 main characters and they have their own personality and main goal in the game and it's that you can actually feel the difference between these 2 assasin's, they also have a real brother

The main villian is one of the best so far, he is pure evil and I like it.

Everything about this game is amazing, from the big open map where you can play around, to all the collectibles, side missions, weapon choices, outfit choices, gangwars ect. and the new grappling hook which makes you feel a little bit like a Victorian Batman is all a hell lot of fun and makes you want to play more! :)

The world is huge as as always and full of things to do, but doesnt feel as overwhelmind as Unity did. Music is also a huge win, some beautiful scores most notably when you are atop a vantage point. At one of them i sat purched for good fee minutes so i could listen to it all.

Graphically is is not bad, it lacks some of the vidual flare that unjty had bht overall I'd say it is good. Rain effects feel a bit phoned in, but the world is full of life and the day / night cycle is a welcome return.

On the negative side - glitches are still present, mostly in the form of clipping and textures not loading in quickly enough. I had a in engine cut scene play where a character clipped through horse whi,e she was talking and had no mouth movements, another time on another in engine cut scene both evie and jacob did not render but all of their equipment did. Another time most game breakingly of them all, an entire train didnt load in when at a train station - i wws promptly run over and killed. Other annoyances stem from terrible frame rates at times, mostly in the train and an odd and infuriating bug where i am unable to walk through the second carriage because npcs are in the way, making me drunkenyl stager out onto the roof and leap over to the last carriage. Anoying. Finally, the rooe launcher is great when it work, however a good 30-40% of the time it can never seem to find a point to lock onto despite me staring right at one like someone in lust over a ledge on a building. Frustrating.

Plaonly this is a better game, yet i can't help but feel AC really needs a year off to rejouvinate.

A bit better than Unity; Still too many characters with their own story (Marx? Darwin? Why do we need them?). Dialogs are idiotic, or main characters are idiots - agree to do things before they understand what they are doing and why. Why I think so: I compare it to Ezio's series. Why Ezio's games were the best? Because you lived the story of Ezio yourself. Now you just do parkour.

The protagonists are just stereotypes of young rebels, the mission design is monotonous and boring. What Ubisoft gives us about the First Civilization and the Templar-Assassins-Conflict is a joke. Additionally the developers made the game much more brutal and put the fighting in the centre of the gameplay. This is no more a stealth game. This is no more an Assassin´s Creed.

I was very disappointed with Unity. It had little to no satisfaction for me when playing, especially when taking down enemies with its strange, awkward and janky animations in combat. At first glance I thought Syndicate was a literal carbon copy. I decided to play it for myself and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun I've had thus far with the game. At first glance I thought Syndicate was a literal carbon copy. I decided to play it for myself and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun I've had thus far with the game. In direct comparison to Unity (in both my subjective and objective thoughts about it), that's not a difficult battle to win however.
First of all the characters are enjoyable, I can see how one might find Jacob irritable, but Evie is definitely a joy. One thing that seems quite small and yet left me smiling to myself was 'sneaking' for the sheer fact that it steps in the direction of having togglable hoods. There's a strange satisfaction of sneaking onto a blighters boat, sabotaging their goods and then hoping off and watching Jacob pull the hood down and put his hat back on like he's a normal bloke. Now, I'm also not one that cares about graphics but these are definitely the best I've seen for Assassins Creed. A section near the beginning of the game had me within an establishment climbing on industrial pipes and whatnot; The lighting that came through the windows was visually stunning to me (It was very reminiscent of the beautiful whimsical lighting in AC2) while I find London itself to have an appealing melancholy look to it.
Without dragging on; While I don't agree with the yearly churn-out of the franchise, this is a massive improvement and the most fun I've had playing Assassins Creed in a long time. If you don't have an estranged vendetta against Ubisoft then I recommend picking up the game. If you are of the group I mentioned however, I have a feeling you will try to dislike the game no matter what.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Minor spoilers. Okay. First of all I only bought the game because I'm an Anglophile and wanted to run around Victorian London (which I've visited in real life four times) and play the Jack the Ripper DLC (I'm also an amateur Ripperologist.) Have been waiting desperately for an Assassin's Creed based in London. Secondly - I did not play Unity but if this is better than Unity then Unity must have been attrocious. Last game I played was Black Flag which was pretty good. This one, however, I've got some major problems with. Haven't experienced any glitches or anything but I'm already bored to death. I've finished Whitechapel and am about half way in Lambeth. In reality, Whitechapel is in the "East End" of London and yet they've situated it in the north of London!!! Why??? Anyone remember East Enders show on BBC? That's Whitechapel. "EAST" end, Ubisoft!!! Not north. In those days Whitechapel Bell Foundry was the biggest industry in the area. They made the Big Ben bell and the Liberty Bell! - yet I see no sign of it!! Why??? They've got two train stations and other factorys, why not this one? The rest of London looks historically accurate as to placement but we'll have to see once I get there.

My major complaint is that this game seems really dumbed down from AC 2 and even Black Flag. The story sucks or lack of story I should say. Big deal - you're a brother and sister trying to start a rival gang in London against the Templars - ho hum. You don't even really care about them. There is no 'hook' like there was with Ezio (outrage at the Borgias for killing his family and getting revenge, finding out his father was an Assassin, etc.) Evie is okay but Jacob's an ass. Now you're already Assassins and the beginning at Abstergo went by so fast I can't even remember what it was about. Only that they brought two people back from AC 2. BECAUSE THAT GAME WAS GREAT and you've gone downhill since Ubisoft!!!!!

Climbing towers in AC2 was really hard at times - figuring which side to go up, which handhold led somewhere - now you can scale everything with ease. No challenge at all. I know jumping in AC games is ridiculously unreal but in this game you're leaping 10 ft above yourself with no problem. Ezio had to learn the high jump, remember? You don't even do the scan around each high point to open up an area when you reach it - all areas are open to you but are based on skill level - you just do the Leap of Faith (which is also glitched - I keep hanging off edge not jumping.) The controls are weirder than previous games - you can't free jump in the air to reach a Helix even if you crash and die. Actually, I haven't crashed and died once!! Boring. No skill is involved at all in climbing and jumping. A 3 yr. old could play this.

It's kind of neat playing two different characters but they both have the same skills, weapons, clothes, etc. Boring. And they said they both should level up together but they don't. I played Evie for all of Whitechapel then switched to Jacob and had to re-assign all skill points again that I earned with Evie to bring him up to same level. Tedious. And also you used to be able to walk around a town without every goddam cop coming after you. Now they are everywhere along with rival gang members. It took me 15 minutes to try to buy something as I kept getting spotted by the baddies! And again we have to find ridiculous things like pressed flowers?? Why would Jacob Frye want books of pressed flowers? That's worse than feathers or flags!!

The city of London - the buildings and people are fantastic - but no one seems to care that you're going in their houses and opening chests or climbing walls right in front of them. No funny comments like in AC2. Only thing I really like is using the enviroment to kill baddies - like dropping barrels on them, boxes of dynamite, etc. And driving carriages.

All in all, so far it's a disappointment but it's playable and I will finish it, at least until I get to Westminster.

If you never played AC before, you may like it. But as a long standing fan of the series, I cannot give it more than five. I use to enjoy AC games, but it needs to move forward. The series could be so much more than what it is now. It is almost criminal to release such an unambitious, dull, joyless, repetitive and unsurprising game. Ubisoft even succeeded in the paradoxical feat of creating a game that feels exactly like the previous games gameplaywise, but does not have any part of the poetic soul that maked AC so great. My score is a red card. Please Ubi, I implore you to innovate. Stop making so dull games, AC games could be great, as they were at the beginning. But it needs to abandon the old formulas and templates of AC2. Make the world feel realistic and alive, make it systemic, with good AI, let us create informer networks, speak to npc's... Let the player be clever, add some emergent gameplay and good assassinations missions (in the Hitman style). Stop with all those on-screen indications as it totally breaks the immersion. Let us find the solutions by ourselves. Give us more freedom and opportunities : as I said, let us be clever. Also, citizens seem not to care that you kill someone in the middle of a crowd and they continue to go about their business shopping etc. while the body lays there in the middle of the market or wherever. It's absurd.

However, to save others the financial loss I feel obligated to inform potential consumers about the pitfalls of embarking on a mission to purchase this software. From my personal experience this game exhibits little gameplay difference compared to Assassin's Creed Unity. As many other reviewers have remarked, the glitches are just as apparent and unacceptable as they were in Unity. I am unsure as to what is going on in the present gaming world, but why does it seem that so many PS3/Xbox 360 games are/were performing better/more efficiently than the games being released on these supposedly "markedly improved next generation" systems (I have both systems so I compare them regularly)? The glitches and attention to detail on these games are lacking immensely. To many I am sure my complaints will seem petty but I am sure that others will agree that these issues detract from the fun and realistic nature of the game.

For my starting point, I cannot stand in this game that your character seems to almost constantly meld with/pass through their enemies with whom they are engaged in combat. Often fatal strikes that would have been landed are lost to the software universe and no damage is inflicted on your assailant. Depending on the game this can sometimes mean the difference between success and having to restart a campaign or mission. I have also encountered on numerous occasions what can only be described as "falling into a black-hole or out of the world with no chance of escape" other than by dying or restarting the game.

Another component I take issue with is the lack of effect your character seems to have on the environment. By this I mean that it appears your character is almost weightless and can navigate an environment as if they were a ghost. How is it that when one is free running across chains or beams suspended by only one rope, the chains don't even bend a little or the balance of the beam isn't affected at all? I mean even in AC4 Black Flag on PS3 the ropes that the lead character would cross on ships would at least bow in relation to his weight and position in space. A random point I might add is are you really going to punch a train car handle three times to activate the release? Is it really that hard to just program the character to look as if they are struggling to raise a lever? Also there is little to no interaction from civilians/observers. These elements are trivial to many and may require far more data to actually incorporate into a game but important to me because it shows the developers actually took time to focus on the little details to really make a game stand out (for example games like Heavy Rain incorporating facial hair growth on lead male characters and baggy/blood shot eyes to display weariness/fatigue/heightened stress; Until Dawn displaying foot print paths in the snow showing exactly where your character has been; State of Decay incorporating fatigue when fighting/fleeing, scavenging for survival and being susceptible to disease/pestilence; Hitman series where if civilians observe you with a weapon they run to notify authorities). Small details but they truly add to the experience of making it real to life, more challenging, and they dramatically increase its repeat play-value in many consumers minds.

AC4 did provide many of these details and on a "less developed gaming system" at that! Not to mention AC4 took the best parts of AC2 and AC3 and combined them into one great game (the hunting, ship sailing, village construction and trade, alternate story lines/missions, side quests, etc.). AC Syndicate fails as miserably at these concepts as AC Unity did. Yes in AC Syndicate they add the element of fighting on moving trains and carriages but in all actuality who really cares if that and a few added combo moves are all the new features the developers really incorporated? Those attributes are more like new DLC to be purchased and added to an existing game. It is not worth charging full price and claiming it to be an entirely new experience in of itself. As one user remarked, I expect this game will be in the "marked down/discount bins" soon enough. If you absolutely must test it out I encourage you to do so but I would be patient and wait until it gets to that discounted price. I am sad to see the gaming industry heading this way and even more disheartened that we can't even count on honest professional reviews any longer as almost everything in present society has moved to money changing hands in exchange for praise and positive press. Of course maybe I am naive and it has always been like this in some form or another but I can say that I am glad that there are many reviews that can be counted on in my experience. Those reviews are the eloquent, intelligent, and sensible reviews of the real gamers and consumers.

    Cons:
    - Too buggy, despite being solid, it is way more buggy than any other game. Honestly, I never had problems with Unity, so it feels buggier than Unity.
    - The gameplay of the different characters still feel exactly the same.
    - MANY HORRIBLE MISSIONS.
    - Graphics are downgraded from Unity

Notable: I removed some cons because I realized they weren't too bad, but just kind of boring. This might sound like 7 or 8, but in the end, the graphics are still amazing, the missions are more enjoyable than not, the game is still not very buggy and I don't really care about the stealth vs head-on fight concept (2 character).

Not a fan of the new combat mechanic (it's quite chaotic and button mashing involved). I dislike the "gamification" of the gears and outfit. e.g. you are level 4, you find something awesome after risking your life getting it. Let's say a Cape. Then the bloody cape requires you to be level 6 to unlock. Weapons, gears and clothes should not have a level locking. It should be: if you can find it / get it, you can wear it, without limitation. You can still make the items level up independently (as you kill people, sneak, steal, etc. based on the item). I would have appreciated a greater choice of weaponry. The water looks quite bad (like 1990 water). The glitches to collect are useless. You could have found something else to justify doing acrobatics.

Mixed feeling: historical content. It's mainly gone. Previous AC games had a lot of historical content. This one as barely anything. It's a little bit good as sometimes it was too much. But, even I noticed its absence. That's bad. I had 2-3 minor glitches, but it did not compromised the gameplay (almost during a kidnapping where the GPS system went wrong - leading me to the kidnapping point instead of a delivery spot).

Good elements: The twins. Great way to balance the gameplay and making it gender equal. The skills tree could have been a tad more customised for each of them. The skills tree itself is well made with some decent features. Abstraction of the glowing, the city is wonderful. The core missions are interesting and varying. The horse/chariot riding is interesting. The combat animations are quite nice and full of gore. Justifying your game rating. The game is playable for several hours (but not really re-playable).

All said though, I wasn't blown away remotely by Syndicate. It's story is unoriginal, the missions are tedious from the off and you can't help feeling about an hour into the game, this is a redressed revamp of the last edition of AC. There's something cynical about Ubisofts obsession with making this an annual release. Consider Fallout 3 was 7 years ago now, that is why the world is eager to embrace FO4 in a few weeks, and why this just feels weak and like a re-branding of Unity.

Personally, I'd like Ubisoft to go away and take a long hard look at what they haven't achieved and recognise that a franchise doesn't need an annual release to keep fresh in the buyers minds, it needs to be inspirational and enjoyable. After Black Flag, I would of happily awaited years for the next release and for the next one to blow me away - but instead we get Syndicate.

Syndicate sees the return of a more traditional feeling Assassin's Creed style of gameplay. The changes to the established formula made in Unity are still present, only now much better implemented. I still think it's kind of dumb to have a leveling up system in an AC game (why should I have to buy abilities I started off with in the other games?), it too won me over. There's a real feeling of growing more powerful and capable as you progress through Syndicate's many activities.

This entry of the Assassin's Creed series takes some notes form the playbooks of some of gaming's biggest open-world franchises. Most notably Rocksteady's Arkham games. The open environments the missions take place in, as well as the wide variety of items and abilities at your disposal, encourage experimentation and allow you to find your own solutions and playstyles like never before. Even the fluid combat system that has you juggling multiple foes brought back memories of taking out thugs as The Dark Knight. The inclusion of multiple paths to your target and various opportunities that can lead to unique kills reinvigorate the series' big assassinations. Things like new zip-line tool and the inclusion of carriages make navigating the open-world more exciting than ever. The latter giving the game something of a Grand Theft Auto vibe.

The story is where things take a slight hit. You'll meet cool characters and the protagonists are great. Kudos to Ubisoft for finally having making an entry in the main series with a playable female character (even if she does have to share the spotlight with a male counterpart). I'll even forgive them for the fact that she isn't the more likable of two leads. The events themselves just aren't that interesting. Some bland villain is taking over London, is after some precursor artifact, and blah, blah, blah. We've all seen it before. Only never with such a dorky final boss fight. The modern day story continues going nowhere. Only now there's some stuff about cloning! We just watch Rebecca and Shaun do some stuff in the occasional cutscene because the people at Ubisoft think we like them for some reason. While killing off Desmond was a pretty gutsy and unexpected move, it's clear they haven't had any idea what to do with this part of the series for some time now. They've even removed it from the gameplay side of things.

Narrative shortcomings aside, this is a phenomenal return to form for Assassin's Creed. One that even brings some much needed change to things. It's brimming with content to the point where you won't even care about the lack of multiplayer. This some of the smoothest gameplay the series has seen and one of it's best settings. Syndicate makes the series worth returning to after it reached it's lowest point with Unity. Let me tell you, it's one heck of a comeback.

Side missions doesn't add anything except experience points and upgrade points/options.
Characters aren't interesting at all. Specially Jacob. Conversations were so boring and sometimes voice acting of Jacob was annoying.
And This World War I simulation thing! Why and what's the point of it. Plus is has nothing at all but few representative missions which were exactly similar to the one in the main game.

If you are a fan of the franchise then probably it makes sense to play it. Otherwise not recommended at all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is so much better than Unity it's incredible, the graphics are beautiful the world feels more alive and the UI is great, you even get to play a bit in WW1 and you even get a small open world in the WW1 setting that deserves much more attention than it's getting right now!

But there are a couple of bad things with this game, the characters are pretty annoying and the story is pretty boring most of the time especially during the modern day segments and you still can't choose to play as a Templar instead of an Assassin, there also seems to be an overtly anarchist/communist ideology pushed on me every 30 minutes which is getting very annoying but those are things you should expect from Ubisoft by now so overall better than Unity!

This instancing and spamming of the various mechanics and scenarios across the open-world is disappointing. This is made that much more evident when compared against Unity, which boasts far superior level design, controls, story, pacing, and overall polish. Yes, Unity was buggy, and yes it still has frame-rate issues, but underneath all that there is a good game made with a lot of care and attention. Go play that instead. Expand

    Story
Assassin's Creed Syndicate follows twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye. The two assassins go to London with different agendas but the objectives fuse together to bring both assassins together. Jacob wishes to reclaim London by defeating Crawford Starrick (The Templar Grandmaster) and creating his own gang to protect the citizens of London. Evie however wishes to follow in their father's footsteps and find the piece of eden that is hidden somewhere in London.

I found the story to be quite good and interesting, both characters are very likable and the actions taken by one another affects the other persons objective specifically Evie. Her role tends to always fix the mistakes that Jacob causes as he is easy to trust and is easily misled by others while also completing her own objectives. The game puts you in the shoes of Jacob more than Evie however Evie has a much more interesting story and a much better character and I spent most of my time playing her rather than Jacob. Overall I found the story to be good but was ruined by a bad boss battle and horrible cliffhanger ending.

    Gameplay + Content
The gameplay in Syndicate is different from AC Unity's gameplay which was challenging but not very fun at all. The gameplay is quick and refined in Syndicate, the gameplay is actually quite similar to previous assassins creed games 3 and 4 where button mashing and counter were the ways to defeat your enemies. The game is beautiful and definitely gives a good representation of 1800 London.
The game also adds a leveling system which is a big improvement from Assassins Creed Unity, These upgrades tend to show progression in the characters, rather than Unity which felt quite rushed with Arno.

Players can also fool around a lot in this game, conquering London is fun and different from the main story even though it can be repetitive it was a fun repetition. There are also side quests that players can do that involve important historical figures such as Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens which gives deeper insight into what the industrial era was all about.
Carriage riding is also something that the game adds and its similar to Grand Theft Auto where you can hijack other people's carriages and ram into other NPCs, shoot other NPCs and other activities.

This game also allows you to build up your own gang, which I found to be very fun and what I spent most of my time and resources on. Building a gang is expensive and will definitely consume most of your income and resources if you're not using them on upgrading your inventory. The gang is also quite noticeable in areas that you conquer, Having a gang allows you to recruit to 5 of them to fight for you which is quite similar to GTA San Andreas gangs. You can upgrade these gang members and there presence and what kinda weapons they can use.

    Overall
Assassin's Creed Syndicate is by far one of my favorite games of 2015 and is a huge improvement over 2014's disappointing and crap Assassin's Creed Unity which i would give a 4 outta 10

I really felt at one with Jacob and Evie like they were real beings and that is a great emotional feeling to get from a game. Always worth playing!

Pros: - They kept the good parkour system from Unity - Soundtrack is unique, and interesting without being overbearing -Relatively polished, with a few exceptions

Cons: -The game is just bloated with pointless collection tasks. So many collectibles, usually dozens of each per burrough, that it just feels like if you want to 100% you have to grind it out and go everywhere.

-Carriages are not very satisfying to drive

-NPC "historical" characters are all really quite uninteresting.

-London as a setting is cool in theory, and as always the attention to detail and layout is always impressive in AC games, but this setting just feels rather bland and artificial. The Thames feels like some weird nautical version of Frogger.

Overall, I'd avoid this title because what should have been a 10-15 hour game is padded endlessly with filler missions and sidequests.

However, does this game deserve good reviews simply because it's better than the piece of junk that Unity was?

To put it bluntly, the graphics in this game suck. It looks like a high-end PS3 game or, at the very best, an early PS4 game. The graphical downgrade from Unity is unbelievable. I understand the need to reduce the number of NPC's onscreen, but was this severe of a graphical downgrade actually necessary?

As for the gameplay, Syndicate feels different from other AC games to the point that it doesn't really feel like an AC game. At best, it feels like a watered down, barebones version of AC. There's almost no customization for weapons or outfits. The gameworld feels empty and there's not much to do. The changes they've made to the map and missions make it confusing to understand where your next objective is or what missions are available to you. This is partly due to the level system they've implemented in this game. Basically, they've managed to overcomplicate certain aspects of the game while simultaneously watering down the game in other, more important aspects.

I've been a huge fan of Assassin's Creed since the beginning, but I can't help but be extremely disappointed in this latest installment.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate tells the story of twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye
You can freely switch back and forth between the 2 to complete tasks around the city and to free roam, but each is unique in their ability and have their own specific story missions to give you a feel for both.
There is a very simple skill tree and leveling system here, but Jacob and Evie only have a few unique skills, such as Evie having the ability to go invisible while in sneak mode, which I found no use for at all in the main campaign considering the majority of the story’s quests belongs to Jacob.
Jacob specializes in combat compared to evies stealth.
He wants to rile up a gang and take control of London.
Gaining control is really where the different character styles can come into play,
I found myself looking to Evie to free the children in factories., for everything else I just stuck to Jacob.
There are technically a variety of tasks here such as bounty hunts where you kidnap a target or kill them and take them in for a reward, Templar hunts where you’re tasked with killing a or 2 Templar enemies, and strongholds where you just clear them out.
I appreciate the child liberation missions because they give a sense of time beyond the themes and skins, but for the most part there’s nothing special about these side activities. It’s the same thing we’ve got year after year since Brotherhood but with new names.
After you’ve done all activities in a section of the map a gang leader challenges you and then you take on a rival gang to finally claim the section for your own.
As you progress through the story you’ll also be able to do train robberies and steal cargo, these tasks are important because Syndicate also feature an annoying quote un quote crafting system.
Its fairly easy to get money in syndicate from main missions and your vault, but its super annoying to have so much and not be able to spend it because you don’t have the needed materials, so your only choice is go do a boring mission or purchase a material pack with real life money.
You can’t buy weapons or items from a store, you can only craft them.
This obviously was put into the game to take advantage of people only interested in the fun aspects of assassin’s creed. And escorting cart after cart isn’t it.
Speaking of carts, there are now horse drawn carriages you can hijack and ride around the city, very fun to play around with and makes traversing the city much faster I only used fast travel 2 or 3 times in my entire time playing, that’s how much I loved riding through London smashing things.
If you want to stick to feet, there’s another tool introduced, the grappling hook.
It’s been apparent that assassins creed has been chasing batman with the past 2 entries, no spoilers, but there was clear penguin influence in last year’s game with one villain, and there’s clear joker influence in this year’s game with another,, and here we are with the ability to grapple our way out of a stick situation, or zip line from building to building and create our own air assassination opportunities, however the grappling hook doesn’t work quite as good as one would hope.
Maybe I’m spoiled by batman, but I’m not a fan of searching for a prompt before I can use my hook, I want to be able to just press the button and go... sometimes this does work that way, but a lot of the time you’re awkwardly waiting for you to zip out of there and nothing happens.
Sometimes you’ll look up at edges and a prompt just won’t show up... I was skeptical of this tool at first, but came to love and appreciate it... it does need some work though,
Speaking of needing work the campaign.
The story in syndicate is decent, but the delivery of this story, not so much…

Every main Assassin’s Creed Game has a special moment, a special introduction to a character and their development as an assassin.
Assassins Creed Syndicate dives right in, it treats Jacob and Evie Frye like we’ve gotten other games with them, as if they are developed and well known character, but they aren’t, we know nothing other than they are twins, you get a sense of their sibling rivalry throughout the game, but a prologue into the characters would’ve made me care for these characters.
Any sort of character development at all to be honest would be greatly appreciated,
New characters can’t just be automatically established, it would be like starting the ezio trilogy with brotherhood
It’s like meeting a friend of your friend at a party and told to hang out with them for 20 hours.
They cry about their problems without giving you a reason to care.
    I didn’t at all.
Not for a second did I care about these characters, or about London…
I felt no urgency to do anything.
This is the first time I’ve ever played an assassins creed game and not care of its outcome.
However it was nice to see Assassins creed slightly inch its way back to what made it great and such a guilty pleasure to begin with.
The team at ubisoft seem to actually be listening to fans, modern day is more prevalent this time and they even brought Desmond back! As a dog. But seriously, the modern day story is the best it’s been since Assassins Creed IV, still, nowhere near as good as it was in that game or the 5 games before it.
There is a really neat section in this game that gives you more context to the modern day stuff but you aren’t even told about, you kind of have to find it for yourself…
It’s almost like they are embarrassed of their modern day story ties… its like modern day is their girlfriend and they wont accept her relationship request on facebook.
But news flash ubisoft, the modern day is what gets people talking, it’s what brings us to your forums, it what gets people itching for more.
If you want preorders, you need to up your game in this department or you risk losing your diehard fans to casuals that may or may not buy because cool 1868 brand theft auto.
Campaign missions have greatly improved though.
In terms of variety, this is the best we’ve gotten since assassins creed 3.
No 2 missions felts the same, but all were lacking power. There were no epic moments in this game... not. Even. 1. Mission variety is important, but even Assassins Creed IVs tail mission after tail mission campaign was more enjoyable due to the pure epic moments that game delivered,
    the camping felt stale…
Optional objectives are still here, and are getting better and better... but they need to be ditched.
Someone needs to tell the people at ubisoft that optional objectives aren’t fun.. Oh wait... everyone does... every year... and they don’t listen.
Why such an emphasis on stealth for a brute?
For a game about assassinating, there are way too many don’t kill anyone objectives, sure that’s fine since we can knock enemies out, but let the player choose to handle the situation this way if they choose.
Optional objectives are no better than annoying grading systems.
I love that if you mess up enemies now run rather than you getting desynced, but seeing a red box flash across your screen nullifies this illusion of freedom.
If micro transaction filled leveling systems can make sense in this universe, so can a lack of optional objectives. I’m even fine with desyncs for being detected every once in a while and stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent may be an awesome quote, but it doesn’t make for awesome gameplay. I was given awesome tools to stealthfuly take out enemies, and then I’m told not to use them. All in all, Assassins Creed Syndicate is an enjoyable time, but nothing special. Assassins Creed Unity had me excited for the future, but syndicate seemed to take a few steps back. For what it is Action Adventure Stealth 8/10 overall 8.5/10

After trying really hard to find something about Assassin's Creed I love for years now I have finally realized that I'm not so much an Assassin's Creed fan as I am a Black Flag fan. Ever since Black Flag I have been chasing that high that came from owning my own pirate ship and exploring the open seas of the Caribbeans. And although I did not hate Unity as much as most die hard Assassin's fans, it was not good enough to keep me playing. I am afraid Syndicate is much the same. Don't get me wrong, it is in my opinion a step forward from Unity, it is still the same old terrible climbing mechanics mixed with lookout posts, and following mini maps. I did however like the fact that you can choose at any time to play as either Jacob or Evie Fry. The chemistry between the brother and sister is extremely refreshing after years of being a lonely assassin. Jacob is your stereotypical shoot first ask questions later hero, and Evie fits the original stealthy assassin that is used in the other Creed games. The setting is Victorian London during the industrial revolution where gangs, corrupt officials, sweat shop employers and of coarse Templars roam. Our two heroes are tasked with taking back london from the templars and give it back to the people. As much as syndicate is a step in the right direction from Unity it still suffers the same setbacks as the rest, (Long time AC fans know what I mean). All in all if you played any of the first 3 or 4 AC games, honestly you could probably say you played syndicate as well. I dont know how they do it. By that I mean release the same game over and over again in different settings and get thousands of other gamers and I to buy it every year. Longer story shorter, if you like the others you will like this one. If you are like me and have been tired of playing the same mindless mini map follower, then trust me try something else. Expand

I have little interest in the series unless the setting excites me, and as with the "pirate" theme of AC IV, I was eager to explore the streets of Victorian London. The story is as banal as it has ever been in an AC game, but at least the characters were a little bit more diverse. Had they not included the option to play through the game as Evie I don't believe I would have been able to finish this installment, as Jacob is as boring and cliche as they come. Where this game saves some face is in the presentation of the setting. The visuals are stunning, and the locations spectacular. The World War 1 side mission was enjoyable for as long as it lasted, and was certainly the highlight of this game. However, my main gripe with this game is in the mechanics. New mechanics introduced to the game all worked as expected, but the core mechanic, the parkour the series is marketed on, seems to be devolving rather than evolving from game to game. Animations are buggy and interaction with the environment is terribly mapped. The movement which should feel fluid and fast instead feels awkward and unnatural. Ultimately the grandeur of the game's setting, and avoiding a repeat of the disaster that was unity saved this game from a dismal score. With Black Flag I was eager to play the game every chance I got, and once I completed it I longed for more. With Syndicate my only motivation to complete the game was for the relatively easy Plat trophy. Once that goal was met, I was happy to put the game away and never play it again. Expand

Most people when expecting much of Syndicate, some even feel that its going to be a buggy terrible mess after Unity, waiting to gloat at the failure of Assassin's Creed. But it turns out Syndicate is quite good.

On day one Assassin's Creed Syndicate ran at a smooth 30fps with very minimal frame-rate drops, no bugs or crashing on the PS4. London in Syndicate stands next to the cities in ACII as one of the most breathtaking and realistic detailed environment, you could really feel the majesty and scale of the famous landmarks. The game is flooded with numerous side activities each of them are interesting and rewarding, The story is much better than unity its good but not stellar. The dual protagonist really made the experience more unique.

The only gripe I have is that there isn't as much customization of equipment compared to Unity, there are less enter-able interiors and the game gets too easy at the later stages(happens if you level up fast but diligently doing the addictive borough missions and side activities).

Assassin's Creed Syndicate clearly is the series back-to-form. Ubisoft also removed the annoying phone app that is binded to the game and gives out free costumes. The game is also very well priced in my country at SGD63.90 on re-date compared to the usual 71-80 which made me really happy to buy it straight off the shelves.

If you are a fan the series then this is a must buy, if not, this is a great Assassin's Creed to start with.

The gameplay is pretty much similar to ACU but a little bit faster and more comfortable. The rope launcher is a great addition to the free running system. The city of London is gorgeous and fully alive with many interesting places to visit and explore , every section of the map is different and adds variety to the game. The characters Evie and Jacob are a great combination for a linear storyline. Both of them great, interesting, and fun to play with and in addition you can switch between them and play every time you wish in the free roam. The things that AC syndicate fails its with the modern day story. It follows the same old steps as Unity, no gameplay just cut scenes. It feels like Ubisoft don't wish to continue the modern day story, they neglected this element completely and its a shame because the modern day story brought the series to its glory with ACII and ACB, but unfortunately the modern day story is weird and confusing, adds little information and masses up things even more. Another thing that is bad in the game its the combat system. The combat feels clunky and weird, although it looks brutal but very easy to attack enemies, no stealth approach at all , no matter how you'll try to be stealthy there will be a point that you will be exposed and you'll have to fight and this is frustrating and not really enjoyable. Overall, ACS offers a great things such as great characters, good story , great mission structure , great side activities and great gameplay but still not perfect as ACII. Expand

With improved character movement, likable protagonists, and a great lack of issues found in previous Assassin's Creed games, Syndicate is the pinnacle of the series.

I really love Assassin's creed. I see much potential in it. I like so much ezio trilogy and kenway saga has very good story as well. Ac lore is excellent but if anyone says syndicate is good game then do not talk about game to him. He probably dont understand about games or maybe he may be ubisoft influencer.

Big downgrade from AC Unity. Sindicate has the worst climbing and parkour mechanics from all of AC games. Forgettable story, dull characters. The controls feel clunky and quite often i got frustrated because of that. AC Unity was very good, but this is tottaly opposite for me.

At first I was happily surprised with the beautiful graphics of the city of London. The nice and fluid movements of our two protagonists. The way they run, climb, jump and fight was a delight to witness.
But Alas. The Missions are so boring and too easy. The story makes no sense. And I didn't feel anything for the characters which have no depth at all. Jacob Frye is super annoying with all his fresh remarks, so I constantly switched over to play as Evie. Unfortunately I was forced to play Jacobs character in a lot of missions. The music is way to jolly/happy for a game that bears the word Assassin in it's title.
There are so many collectibles that it's ridiculous. Visually the cutscenes are poorly done.
The only thing I enjoy is free roaming in the open world, climbing and swinging from rooftop to rooftop. And that is simply not enough for a game.
I was hoping for a dark stealth game experience. But instead I played a clean-cut mainstream kids game with absolutely no challenges. I've played around 15 hours of the game. And I simply have no interest in finishing the game, even though I paid 50 euro for it.

Combat is another issue. It seems to be designed for an 8 year old button basher and quickly gets tiring.
The main character of Jacob is an absolute moron but his twin Evie is a slightly more interesting prospect.
Ubisoft seems to be slipping back into old ways of releasing unfinished and ill thought out games with little imagination and flair.

I have played all the AC games prior to this one and thought I’d try Syndicate after reading reviews saying that it wasn’t too bad after the debacle that was Unity. Also, I was under the impression that this was the last ‘good’ game of the series before they started messing with the canon story and rewriting everything in Origins. But wow, what can be said about this game? If you loved theI have played all the AC games prior to this one and thought I’d try Syndicate after reading reviews saying that it wasn’t too bad after the debacle that was Unity. Also, I was under the impression that this was the last ‘good’ game of the series before they started messing with the canon story and rewriting everything in Origins. But wow, what can be said about this game? If you loved the Assassin’s Creed series prior to Unity stay away from this game. I really can’t say much good about it.

The story is nonsensical and barely existent; it’s paper thin. You start as the Frye twins; Jacob and Evie outside London. They each have an intro mission which are strong ones, putting you in a good mood and believing things have been fixed since Unity. Little do you realize upon reflection later that these missions have nothing to do with the rest of the story. They then run off to London under the demented belief that they are so good at being assassins they can fix the city on their own. You’re introduced to a London assassin named Henry Green who has to be the most useless assassin and hollow character I’ve ever come across. He literally does nothing, he isn’t like a mentor to the Fryes, he doesn’t assist you and out of left field they try and set up some half-baked romance between him and Evie. What???

I started out the game thinking Jacob was a big goofball who couldn’t take anything seriously and was kinda annoying because of these things. But I ended up playing about 80% of the game as him because he grew on me and, unlike Evie, he GOT THINGS DONE! (Which he even ends up calling out Evie on later in the game, bless him) He was out on the streets setting up his gang (which could have been way more intricate, it was pretty useless) and actually taking out the Templar network in London. Meanwhile, Evie is preaching about the Shroud (a piece of Eden that supposedly the Templars are after but you never see anything about) and making googoo eyes at Henry. Oh and she likes to emphasis that she’s ‘cleaning up Jacob’s messes’, yeah okay.

One of my biggest problems is that they advertised this game as having two characters; they start you out by saying Jacob is more combat-based while Evie is more stealth-based, but except for about 3 skills each at the bottom, they have the EXACT same skill tree!!!! What the heck? I tried my hardest to invest in certain skills so playing as the two felt different but man was it difficult especially once I completed the tree by Sequence 7 (of 9). But speaking of, a skill tree in an Assassin’s Creed game? Everything that became full-fledged in Origins onwards started here. A skill tree meant levels which meant enemy levels, levels that hovered above their heads. Levels that when going into certain restricted zones told me I’d be better off leveling up before attempting these things. Seriously? I think that’s my decision! Speaking of combat, this game; a game about assassinations (It is called ASSASSIN’S creed) and sneaking, does not want you to be stealthy or do sneak assassinations AT ALL!! Everything in this game is centered around trying to shoehorn you into blasting your way through the front door guns ablazing, murdering every soul in sight (including cops!! They have you murder the law enforcement in droves) This would be fine if they were working for the Templars, which they’re not. Because in this game, the Templars are not in any positions of power; they haven’t integrated themselves in the law, they’re not friends with the queen, they don’t know bankers. There’s NOTHING!!

At the end of the day, I do not recommend this game at all. Do not even get it on sale. You will finish it and wonder what you just got from the game. Play the earlier Assassin’s Creed games and save yourself a headache. You’ll have a lot more fun and find yourself invested in those games. End the series by playing AC Rogue.

Another Assassin’s Creed game that you can either buy or ignore sight unseen depending on whether you grew tired of the old formula. Some innovations (e.g. the grappling hook) are a welcome addition, some (like two playable characters and their development system) feel forced and not really thought through. The brightest aspect of Syndicate is London, which might be the most spectacular city in the series. [13/2015, p.42]
