The Paris of Unity shone and glistened, the London of sindycate smoke and steam. Where is the marvellous graphics we saw in Paris? We had to make the frame rate more fluid and there are almost succeeded but the details of the textures are low to medium and the illuminations are of poor quality as well as polygonal models of the characters and the city of London in geneal. We also want to talk about the gameplay? It is not acceptable that in 2015 the enemy AI has remained the same since the days of Ezio. The plot is strikingly designed in a hasty and Frye twins are taken and thrown in London without a logical reason apparent. Oh no it is true are two murderers and much basta..ma not for us. Syndicate said this is not bad and is very reminiscent of black flags in many mechanical and in some moments. As I said at the beginning we would like to wait a couple of years before seeing a good assassins creed worthy of the and not a discreet production made for fans and earn a little money. Expand

I got this game early (Wednesday) and the biggest criticism I can have of it is that It just doesn't make you want to play it

Yes, Assassins Creed has been similar for years now but I've always enjoyed them, this time I just feel like there haven't been many improvements in the places that matter. The city, while very accurate to Victorian London is, in my opinion, extremely boring.

The city, while very accurate to Victorian London is, in my opinion, extremely boring. Lots of Grey, Brown & Black. I understand this was what it was like in that era but I personally just don't enjoy it. The graphics are not a massive improvement on Unity

The grappling hook is a massive problem for me, it is basically a copy of the hook from Batman Arkham Knight, thus eliminating all the old 'climbing puzzles' from the older games. You just zipline from A to B (not always accurately I might add) so gone are the days of parkour across roofs etc.

The characters are very well written, especially Evie and are probably the most enjoyable aspect of the game so far.

As someone who has played every game, usually ending between 90-100% completion on them all, this just doesn't seem like one which I will put the effort into doing this with.

I really liked the game at start. But after finishing the story which is unforgivably bad, I'm dropping the score. The game play is great, the musical score is great.

The game starts out fun and then progressively become tedious and a chore to finish. Maybe putting out a game every year is too ambitious. Just as the story starts to build, the story quickly becomes forced only to finish in pathetic fashion.

It feels insulting really, like they think our time on planet Earth was worthless.
    So.....

Only recommended if you're super hyped about Victorian/steampunk London setting! The virtual rendition of London is marvelous and interesting. The game wastes both setting and characters on rompy entertainment-flick-clichés, and gameplay that too often collapses under annoying controls and weird, embarrassing bugs. Few, if any, missions add anything new to mission formulas that constantly copy games of the distant past.

If you're super hyped about crossing the virtual Thames river, climbing various famous buildings, then maybe consider it? But don't expect a polished next-gen game. The gameplay feels copy-pasted from PS2.

I would give 4/10 but the game has virtual Darwin and virtual Karl Marx in virtual London. It's kind of amusing like that, occasionally.

I am a huge fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise because I am a history buff. First off, it is not historically accurate. Gameplay
I finished the story and captured all of the boroughs. This is not a bad game but it is also not the greatest game I have ever played. Like all Assassin's Creed games, it is repetitive. The game is fun to play when the controls do what you want. The controls can be difficult to master. There are instances when I want to be on a specific ledge in parkour mode and I end up on a ledge I do not want to hang on. It is really upsetting when you are trying to be stealthy and the controls place you where you do not want to be, thus resulting in getting caught by the guards/enemies. Ubisoft needs to fix this in their next game. The game is mostly melee and you need to surprise your enemy to kill them quickly or be prepared to fight them for a long time.

    The Story
The story is not complex. In a nutshell, your objective is to take over London and defeat the Grand Master Templar. There are no surprises or plot turns in the story. The main characters, Evie and Jacob, are unique to the series personality wise. Evie is an excellent character and reminds you of that cool smart chick next door. Jacob shows a significant human side once (he tried to save children in one sequence). His reckless and has the shoot first, ask questions later mentality in the story. I do not know what the major gaming critics are talking about when they say it is a horrible ending. Objectively, the ending to the Evie and Jacob story was not super exciting, but not horrible. The modern day story is unfinished and will likely continue to the next Assassin's Creed game next year.

Overall, I give it a 7. It is better than Unity but not the best story in the Franchise. The controls should be less convoluted and should have been simplified a long time ago.

This is a definite improvement over unity, the story and characters are improved and is probably the best it's been in a while. The characters are enjoyable and interesting, even if the main antagonist is the stereotypical villain I still found him entertaining. London looks great and you really feel like your in the industrial revolution.
the soundtrack is beautiful well written.

London looks great and you really feel like your in the industrial revolution.
the soundtrack is beautiful well written. Ironically the features that have helped improved it are from older games. You can hijack coaches a la GTA, the combat is reminiscent from Batman Arkham City as well as the grappling hook( even though it's not as fast, but that just makes sense, considering the times.) and you can have your gang members follow you and fight with you like in saints row.
You can perform environmental kills, like having hanging barrels drop on foes by throwing knives at them, set off dynamite by either shooting or throwing bombs at them. You can make enemies kill each other by either shooting them with hallucinogenic darts or at open fires that enemies are near to turn it into gas, affecting more than one enemy.
There are horse races now with coaches that, for the most part, I enjoyed. They aren't easy I really felt I heart pumping while I was playing them. They aren't all one type either. Either it's getting from point a to b, lap races. Beating a train(!), or even triathalons, so there's a lot of variety there.
Unfortunately, there are still problems with the game, caused by occasionally buggy controls that make the pc do things you didn't want them to. The world map is filled with far to many collectibles for my taste. The map is filled with side activities that can get tedious if you don't take a break from them, though they tried to give most of the gang related ones a back-story to try and make you more interested in them. I have experienced two bugs but not a lot and not nearly as bad as last years.
In the end, if you still like assassins creed you probably enjoy this. If your burned out on the series however, then either don't get it or wait for a sale or the price to go down, maybe even rent it if you can.
P.s. Just because I give it a seven doesn't mean it's bad. Anything below five is bad whereas fives is average, six is above average and seven is good.

So after Unity, I didn't keep my hopes high for Syndicate. However, it was much better than I expected, but it's still not a fantastic Assasin's Creed game. It's great to travel around in Victorian London on a carriage, or hopping across buildings. The quests are great, the upgrade systems are rewarding, the stealth is tight, and thankfully it's not as glitchy as Unity. However there are still some parts that I disliked. The game doesn't run as well as you'd expect, and the story didn't leave as much as an impact as it should've. The villians hardly do anything to be bad, and similar to The Order: 1886, the pacing is slow. The game is still enjoyable, but the story as a whole didn't really amuse me. If you want to get into Assasin's Creed, don't start with this, you'd be better off playing Brotherhood or AC 3 first. However if you're an AC fan, you'll enjoy this, but it's still not the best game in the series, I personally think Black Flag is the best.

    Assassin's Creed Syndicate gets a 7/10.

Overall, the game makes me hopeful for the future of the franchise, but it's not there yet. Wildly mixed bag.
You get both ACII and AC Unity moments in this game.
On the good side, the terrible ideas that came last year like locked content behind companion apps, loyalty programs, multiplayer et cetera, are all gone. This alone is a definite improvement. Microtransactions are existent but not pushed.
The story is.. ok. That's all there is to it. Characters are fine, but have no depth, they are for all intents and purposes cut-outs. The setting is well-made and very detailed, but the place and time choice is not the best, as nice designed as it is, Syndicate's London, is well.. boring.
It's not a bad game by any means. It just has some really ugly and underdeveloped sides that keep it from being a good game. If you are not an AC fanatic, wait for a patch, and maybe a price drop too. If you are starved for an AC experience, and are not bothered by the absence of development in the modern timeline story, you will have fun with this, but be warned, there will be those odds Unity-like moments showing their ugly head when you least expect it. At least the series seems to be going in the right direction. I expect something even better in the coming years.
I would give the game a seven not for not bad but not great, but I deduct an extra point for some seldom but extremely annoying when they appear bugs.

But the most disappointing thing for me was that the templars are no threat for you - at all. You kill one after another, and all they do is "we have to stop this" and "we will stop this". Except they don't. They don't even try. This is topped by a disappointing boss fight and ending.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After Assassin's Creed Unity, Syndicate is a definitive step in the right direction, even if it's not the best the series has to offer.

Jacob and Evie are among the better protagonists in the series, Evie in particular. Both have their own distinct personality, and even vary in gameplay, with Jacob excelling at taking and delivering punishment, and Evie's power lying in being invisible to her enemies and killing them without anyone knowing. Unfortunately, the game doesn't play to their strengths for the most part. Jacob will always be thrown in situations where he has to be stealthy, and Evie will always be thrown in situations where she has to fight. In addition, despite Evie being the far more interesting character, she gets 2 missions for Jacob's 3.

In terms of gameplay, for better or for worse, this is Assassin's Creed. You climb buildings, assassinate targets, and fight enemies like any other game in the series. The assassination missions are among the best in the series. Unlike the other games in the series providing a "here's your target, just make sure they die," each assassination feels like you're planning a heist, with taking time to plan your entrance and escape, find people to help or exploit, and using one of the multiple paths there are to take in order to make sure your target dies.

The biggest change to exploration comes in the form of the rope launcher, which allows you to traverse across and up buildings in mere seconds. For those of you who get tired of spending minutes climbing up a building just to jump off, this is a lifesaver. For those of you who do like to climb things, that's still a perfect option, especially since the speed at which you climb has been boosted.

Naturally, you have a large open world to explore, with various side missions and collectables to explore. Sadly, there are no dungeons where you can test your freerunning skills to find super armour, like in previous games. Your side missions consist of you pretty much doing the same things you would do in any other mission, which causes the game to start feeling repetitive if you want to free London from Templar rule.

Overall, Assassin's Creed Syndicate does not revitalize the franchise in the way that 2 or Black Flag did. It has it's issues, with a repetitive structure, a lack of unique gameplay options for each twin, and a pretty anti-climactic ending. That being said, the things Syndicate does right outweigh the problems it has. It may not be the best in the series, but at the end of the day, it's fun, and that's what matters. For me, in terms of quality, it's at around the same area as Revelations, if not a little higher. So take that for what you will.

The world is huge as as always and full of things to do, but doesnt feel as overwhelmind as Unity did. Music is also a huge win, some beautiful scores most notably when you are atop a vantage point. At one of them i sat purched for good fee minutes so i could listen to it all.

Graphically is is not bad, it lacks some of the vidual flare that unjty had bht overall I'd say it is good. Rain effects feel a bit phoned in, but the world is full of life and the day / night cycle is a welcome return.

On the negative side - glitches are still present, mostly in the form of clipping and textures not loading in quickly enough. I had a in engine cut scene play where a character clipped through horse whi,e she was talking and had no mouth movements, another time on another in engine cut scene both evie and jacob did not render but all of their equipment did. Another time most game breakingly of them all, an entire train didnt load in when at a train station - i wws promptly run over and killed. Other annoyances stem from terrible frame rates at times, mostly in the train and an odd and infuriating bug where i am unable to walk through the second carriage because npcs are in the way, making me drunkenyl stager out onto the roof and leap over to the last carriage. Anoying. Finally, the rooe launcher is great when it work, however a good 30-40% of the time it can never seem to find a point to lock onto despite me staring right at one like someone in lust over a ledge on a building. Frustrating.

Plaonly this is a better game, yet i can't help but feel AC really needs a year off to rejouvinate.

A bit better than Unity; Still too many characters with their own story (Marx? Darwin? Why do we need them?). Dialogs are idiotic, or main characters are idiots - agree to do things before they understand what they are doing and why. Why I think so: I compare it to Ezio's series. Why Ezio's games were the best? Because you lived the story of Ezio yourself. Now you just do parkour.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Minor spoilers. Okay. First of all I only bought the game because I'm an Anglophile and wanted to run around Victorian London (which I've visited in real life four times) and play the Jack the Ripper DLC (I'm also an amateur Ripperologist.) Have been waiting desperately for an Assassin's Creed based in London. Secondly - I did not play Unity but if this is better than Unity then Unity must have been attrocious. Last game I played was Black Flag which was pretty good. This one, however, I've got some major problems with. Haven't experienced any glitches or anything but I'm already bored to death. I've finished Whitechapel and am about half way in Lambeth. In reality, Whitechapel is in the "East End" of London and yet they've situated it in the north of London!!! Why??? Anyone remember East Enders show on BBC? That's Whitechapel. "EAST" end, Ubisoft!!! Not north. In those days Whitechapel Bell Foundry was the biggest industry in the area. They made the Big Ben bell and the Liberty Bell! - yet I see no sign of it!! Why??? They've got two train stations and other factorys, why not this one? The rest of London looks historically accurate as to placement but we'll have to see once I get there.

My major complaint is that this game seems really dumbed down from AC 2 and even Black Flag. The story sucks or lack of story I should say. Big deal - you're a brother and sister trying to start a rival gang in London against the Templars - ho hum. You don't even really care about them. There is no 'hook' like there was with Ezio (outrage at the Borgias for killing his family and getting revenge, finding out his father was an Assassin, etc.) Evie is okay but Jacob's an ass. Now you're already Assassins and the beginning at Abstergo went by so fast I can't even remember what it was about. Only that they brought two people back from AC 2. BECAUSE THAT GAME WAS GREAT and you've gone downhill since Ubisoft!!!!!

Climbing towers in AC2 was really hard at times - figuring which side to go up, which handhold led somewhere - now you can scale everything with ease. No challenge at all. I know jumping in AC games is ridiculously unreal but in this game you're leaping 10 ft above yourself with no problem. Ezio had to learn the high jump, remember? You don't even do the scan around each high point to open up an area when you reach it - all areas are open to you but are based on skill level - you just do the Leap of Faith (which is also glitched - I keep hanging off edge not jumping.) The controls are weirder than previous games - you can't free jump in the air to reach a Helix even if you crash and die. Actually, I haven't crashed and died once!! Boring. No skill is involved at all in climbing and jumping. A 3 yr. old could play this.

It's kind of neat playing two different characters but they both have the same skills, weapons, clothes, etc. Boring. And they said they both should level up together but they don't. I played Evie for all of Whitechapel then switched to Jacob and had to re-assign all skill points again that I earned with Evie to bring him up to same level. Tedious. And also you used to be able to walk around a town without every goddam cop coming after you. Now they are everywhere along with rival gang members. It took me 15 minutes to try to buy something as I kept getting spotted by the baddies! And again we have to find ridiculous things like pressed flowers?? Why would Jacob Frye want books of pressed flowers? That's worse than feathers or flags!!

The city of London - the buildings and people are fantastic - but no one seems to care that you're going in their houses and opening chests or climbing walls right in front of them. No funny comments like in AC2. Only thing I really like is using the enviroment to kill baddies - like dropping barrels on them, boxes of dynamite, etc. And driving carriages.

All in all, so far it's a disappointment but it's playable and I will finish it, at least until I get to Westminster.

If you never played AC before, you may like it. But as a long standing fan of the series, I cannot give it more than five. I use to enjoy AC games, but it needs to move forward. The series could be so much more than what it is now. It is almost criminal to release such an unambitious, dull, joyless, repetitive and unsurprising game. Ubisoft even succeeded in the paradoxical feat of creating a game that feels exactly like the previous games gameplaywise, but does not have any part of the poetic soul that maked AC so great. My score is a red card. Please Ubi, I implore you to innovate. Stop making so dull games, AC games could be great, as they were at the beginning. But it needs to abandon the old formulas and templates of AC2. Make the world feel realistic and alive, make it systemic, with good AI, let us create informer networks, speak to npc's... Let the player be clever, add some emergent gameplay and good assassinations missions (in the Hitman style). Stop with all those on-screen indications as it totally breaks the immersion. Let us find the solutions by ourselves. Give us more freedom and opportunities : as I said, let us be clever. I want to be rewarded because I made something cool and the game responded to me, not because I've done what the game expected me to do." Expand

I have little interest in the series unless the setting excites me, and as with the "pirate" theme of AC IV, I was eager to explore the streets of Victorian London. The story is as banal as it has ever been in an AC game, but at least the characters were a little bit more diverse. Had they not included the option to play through the game as Evie I don't believe I would have been able to finish this installment, as Jacob is as boring and cliche as they come. Where this game saves some face is in the presentation of the setting. The visuals are stunning, and the locations spectacular. The World War 1 side mission was enjoyable for as long as it lasted, and was certainly the highlight of this game. However, my main gripe with this game is in the mechanics. New mechanics introduced to the game all worked as expected, but the core mechanic, the parkour the series is marketed on, seems to be devolving rather than evolving from game to game. Animations are buggy and interaction with the environment is terribly mapped. The movement which should feel fluid and fast instead feels awkward and unnatural. Ultimately the grandeur of the game's setting, and avoiding a repeat of the disaster that was unity saved this game from a dismal score. With Black Flag I was eager to play the game every chance I got, and once I completed it I longed for more. With Syndicate my only motivation to complete the game was for the relatively easy Plat trophy. Once that goal was met, I was happy to put the game away and never play it again. Expand

You play twins this time around, idea of twin assassins is interesting but not explored in this game. Whichever character you choose it really make zero difference to anything. It'll force you to the specific character needed, but aside from a few missions, I didn't really notice much difference. It only really means you have to level up yourself, skills and weapons twice.
The idea is Jacob has slightly better for combat, hereas Evie has better stealth skills. However these are some of the last skills you get, so until that point there's no difference. Additionally from about level 7 combat is far easier for both due to the execute and mutilate skills for both, as well as more powerful weapons and better player health. So again aside from evie's invisibility I didn't notice a difference.

The game would've been more coherent with Evie oly, and honestly her abilities outweigh Jacob's.
Speaking of which, it's clear that Evie is modeled after and a reference to Eva Green. Looking at Victoria Atkin (Evie's model) it's clear there's little resemblance, but strong resemblance of Eva, also plot advancements further solidify the link to Evie Green.
I'm unsure why Eva. Perhaps they thought Eva was English (she's French). So it seems an odd actress to choose.

Unlike other assassins creed games, the present-day/Asbergo is mostly ignored and tacked-on. Aside from a very brief mention of it at the start, a single moment where you're pulled out for about 60 seconds, and a very awkward ending, you forget it even exists. The only dna/timeline-related plot going on is separate from Evie and Jacob, which I think is bad design.

One big change this time around is that enemies now have levels - signified by the floating numbers on them. This means you need to level up your weapons and character to have a hope in hell of surviving combat. This feels like the only reason to bother roaming the city. If you don't level up you will die because they are very difficult to beat, especially in groups.

AC: Syndicate has much more of a focus on "leveling up" and the arbritrary reason to "level up" is enemies all have levels, despite all the characters looking identical.
It's very difficult to defeat (or survive) enemies due to how hard combat is now.
This is much more tedious, not only is it a lot harder and much faster paced. But as enemies have levels, you must level up fast to have any chance of taking on a group.
You can no longer just attack and counter with the traditionally large counter windows, but now combat has combos, you must also execute finishers with triangle, and also counter gunfire with triangle all whilst breaking defenses with x in a much more frequent basis than previous games. Timing windows for counters are incredibly low, by default almost non-existent, so upgrading the perk for a larger windows is a must. Plus health is very low in AC, it takes a lot of leveling up to get health to a bearable level.

This makes the game very grindy, you have to grind up the level to have any chance of winning fights in crowds, and without the darts and a de-emphasis on stealth, it means brawling is very important in this game (hence the changes in mechanics).

Speaking of grindy, Syndicate has an E-store to buy game currency or resources with helix credits, which are found with a lot of grinding, or bought with real currency. the in-game menus even equate credits to how many hours of grinding you'll save. This made me want to quit playing more than any Assassins Creed game I've played.

Missions aren't fun: in AD:S I found no missions actually fun, there's a ton of investigation type missions and they're far less enjoyable than before. it seems ubisoft decided to make investigations a big part of syndicate due ad they're worse than in Unity. Another common mission type is "kidnapping" enemies. Which is very dull. Find an enemy in a stronghold, then grab them and run back to a point with them. You can throw them in a carriage to transport them faster. Either way you'll be fighting enemies or crashing enemy carriages. It gets old quick.

I'm glad Syndicate brought back the rope launcher/zipline tool, which is the first time since Revelations. Initially I thought this was a cheap idea copy but as London rooftops vary in height so much, I ended up using a lot, so appreciated its inclusion.

Death sequences are more jarring now.
Subtitles are tiny! With no option to change size. Music bland.

Game completely froze and locked up many times. Also due to an unfixed bug I cannnot complete the vault. There's many reports of it online.

I had low hopes due to how poorly the story was told throughout but the ending is just shockingly terrible. Story-wise and execution-wise.

However, this is an Ubisoft game so the map is absolutely packed with pointless collectables and boring side quests. I know you don't have to do them but I'm something of a completionist and also you need to do a certain amount to level up enough to be competitive.

If Assassin's Creed Syndicate was more focused with a smaller map and less distractions this would have been a very good game. instead you spend 90% of your time clearing the map of random things and when you come back to the story you've forgotten who you're helping and why. In a game where parkour around the rooftop is a major component of the gameplay, I think both new features feels out of place. Using the zip line and the carriage is the fastest way to move around London. Which is unfortunate because the parkour in this game is the best of all AC games. The main focus is a technology that lets you relive ancestors experience like you were actually there. Here you use that to follow the adventures of the Assassin twins Jacob and Elvie Frye in 1868 on their journey to break the Templar's control of London and to stop their master plan. It is an uphill battle as you start as small group against overwhelming numbers and resources. I actually truly enjoyed the story and different layers of it. Sadly the side actives have weaker stories and become stale in the end. The gameplay is solid stealth action. You infiltrate, eliminate and gain influence to overpower your rivals. This is done via many missions. Those were good and challenging. You can unlock new items and other helpful things as you progress. There are a lot of side activities and exploration but like I said those become repetitive sooner or later. To give you a bit perspective: I am more the “Do all available side quest before advancing the main story” guy so it could be a better experience if you stick more to the main story. Also I like the characters. You can choose between Jacob and Elvie and both won me over as I was invested in them. The antagonist Crawford Starrick is a magnificent villain I love to hate. As per series standard you also encounter many famous people. Like Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin or Florence Nightingale to name a few. The characters and voice actors are a strength a get my praise. Graphically the game was really good too. I like the London as setting and it feels authentic for a non historian like me. I enjoyed the exploration of the interesting city. Overall it is a bit mixed. The game is enjoyable but gets repetitive faster than I expected. Other open world game to more in this regard. I think a 7/10 is fair and if you don't agree with my negatives it could be an 8-9/10 for you. Expand

It's a fun game, but it's basically more of the same from the AC franchise. The main story isn't really engaging at all, although the side missions are a bit more flushed out than they have been in previous installments. If you like the AC franchise, you will likely get entertainment value out of this, but it certainly won't make you fall in love with it.

Great improvement from previous game unity, which was just a real bummer, as you would have to actually pay to be able to do anything, this game however was a classic assasin's creed game, nothing spectacular, but better than the previous one.

The game is certainly better than Unity, as in it has less glitches and bugs, but not much else. The game starts out fun and then progressively become tedious and a chore to finish.

London is an impressive setting bustling with people making loud noises and different activities making it feel alive, but whether you prefer this to Paris is up to you. Paris was better, in my opinion.

London is an impressive setting bustling with people making loud noises and different activities making it feel alive, but whether you prefer this to Paris is up to you. Paris was better, in my opinion. However, my experience in London was ruined by the problematic parkour, the boring side-activities that are very repetitive and most fill no purpose other then improving your characters,

The story is ok, better then Unity's but not by much. It's ultimately cliche and never really evolves beyond taking London from the Templars. You play as Evie and Jacob Frye, twins, brother and sister; I was very disappointed at the very little difference between the two of them in terms of combat, skills and animations. Seeing as Jacob is more of a brawler, I was expecting his skills to be more focused on fighting, while Evie's to be more focused on stealth, but they both have the exact same skills, just separately.

As for their characters, they are fine; certainly better than the main characters from Unity. Jacob is more of a punk though not in a fun kind of way, more in a irritating kind of way; Evie is the more interesting of the two, though it also seems like they try too hard to make her seem 'cool'. The banter between them can range from entertaining to making your eyes roll; the dialog in Syndicate is inconsistant, despite the fact that they are well voice acted. However, you never really grow to care about them like you did with previous protagonists like Ezio, Edward and Shay. The rest of the characters in the game are forgettable, with a cliche psyhopatic villain that never feels like he pushes the two main protagonists to their limits.

The combat is bad, clearly derived from the Arkham series but poorly made; it's basically mashing a bottom to attack, one to counter, and one to break defense, with none of the variation combos like in the Arkham games. Not to mention that animations for the characters are horrible and it feels like they don't hold any weight. You have a choice between three different weapons which pretty much end up feeling the same. Although I will admit that the leveling up in the game is quite satisfying.

The present returns though it makes me wonder why; it adds nothing to the AC lore and is merely there to tell you to 'keep playing'. It's as if the developers knew that the game was going to be average and thought to remind you that you need to make the most out of the value of your purchase. It makes me wonder why do they even bother to include it anymore.

Overall, Ubisoft's annual release is starting to take its toll on the series. Very little innovation, glitches and bugs, repetitive and boring side-missions, weak main missions, bad combat, uninteresting characters all amounted to make my experience in London quite shallow, despite it's beauty from a graphical point of view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This has the worst plot of an AC game so far, yes, even worse than Unity. The streets are boring and empty compared to Unity. The main characters are not bad at all, but the only thing Syndicate has better than Unity is the shining buildings and the bigger map, everything else is the same or even worse... And the plot... God the plot... Helping the queen? I thought it was the other way around, but no... the same "killing templars" plot, at least they could have added the "templars are not that bad" concept that Unity incorporated and that made Rogue my favorite game after AC II... but no, not even that...
I just give this a 5 because the gameplay is "funny" (even when the "God of War" smashing mechanism), but not better than the gameplay of Unity....
If the next AC game doesn't incorporate something new to the series, then this will be my last time playing a new AC game...

My other vice is that there's nothing really new in terms of missions. It's the same formula that's been done a number of times already in prior AC titles and the story is unfortunately not engaging at all.

It captures the bustling industrial era atmosphere well, and with a number of side quests and items to collect for crafting there's definitely a lot of content, unfortunately it just feels repetitive.

If you're a die hard AC fan, you will enjoy the game. As it does what the previous AC games have and does it well. But if you're looking for something compelling or novel, Syndicate isn't it. The title is need of a breath of fresh air.

It's not as detailed as the streets of Paris and is lacking in interiors, but it is still a commendable effort from the team. The return of a dynamic day and night system is another pleasure to have in this game, which drastically improves the atmosphere of London.

But on the gameplay side of things is where things get a bit shaky. The series is still struggling to reinvent itself. Combat, while faster and more responsive, is still the same ol' "mash the attack button, while you get barely any positive feedback from your attacks" style combat. Mission structures and designs are the same. The only thing that is different is the grappling hook. It boosts the traveling speed quite a bit a la Batman, but I cannot help to feel that it goes against the core principles of the AC parkour gameplay, which (the Parkour) still needs a level of polish that's has been missing since Black Flag.

And the story, well...... it's Assassin's Creed. The interactions between the characters, both fictional and non-fictional, is a lot more interesting than the "plot". It's kind of there, but it lacks the power to keep the players engaged and things just happen because they have to.

Don't get me wrong, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is still a fun game to mess around with that will definitely give you some hours of fun. But I just cannot shake the "been there, done that" feeling I had when playing this game.

This entry into the long running assassin's creed series adds nothing new and several of its gameplay features and mechanics are starting to show their age. I've played every game to date apart from rogue but found this one a bit of a chore. I'll start with the cons.

    Cons -

    1. The controls are quite temperamental, in particular the climbing mechanics. You will at several points find yourself climbing the wrong wall, moving the wrong way or struggling to move at all. This is something that's always been a problem though throughout the series.
    2. The controls have been altered slightly, you need to hold r2 and O when you want to move forward and down and r2 and X when you want to move forward and up. This took quite a lot of getting used to.
    3. Graphically this game seems to be a step down. Unity blew me away with its visuals but this game is less detailed and environments lack character.
    4. The city is London this time and that means more grey skys, brown buildings and lots of chimneys. Personally the setting doesn't compare to Paris or The Caribbean.
    5. The new grappling hook isn't user friendly. It's not clear where and when it can be activated. It's also very slow. Developers have spaced buildings further apart and made them less easy to climb as well so you're forced to rely on it.
    6. Missions require much less stealth this time around. Unity was more required a greater deal of thought in its missions in my opinion.
    7. The story is quite dull, this is particularly true of the villain who just tries very hard to come across as psychotic.
    8. The combat isn't aging well. The counters, break defenses and repetitive attack animations make it feel quite dull. Other games like Batman and Shadow of Mordor are simply much better at climbing, combat, grappling and level design.
    9. It can be buggy at times. Some bugs prevented the completion of missions which was very annoying.
    10. The load times are crazy long. This make dieing incredibly frustrating.

    Pros +

    1. It's quite fun and there's a lot of content
    2. There's almost zero eavesdropping missions this time which is nice.
    3. The story is dull but the good thing is that the modern day storyline which has been consistently awful is very much in the background this time.
    4. The introduction of carriages is quite fun. Ramming others off the road and zipping around the city is a nice touch.
    5. The skill tree and ability to develop two characters in different areas (strength or stealth) worked well.

So, overall it's not a bad game and i enjoyed it but there are better games. The series really needs to improve its gameplay because it is falling behind. It's worth playing but only if you can get it really cheap (like 10 dollars) or don't have anything else to play.

This game is not the worst i have played, just, bad. Unity have more beautiful graphics, textures and Multiplayer. This is really boring after finished the history mode. Don't play it, play something better like other Assassins Creed game.

I expected alot more from AC Syndicate to be honest. The lack of modern time storyline and a reason why really the story of Evie and Jacob should be told is quite disappointing of a long term fan of the series, yet i can't ignore the fact, that Syndicate as a whole is a good video game. The graphics and every detail of the city London is simply amaizing and is a joy exploring it. GameplayI expected alot more from AC Syndicate to be honest. Assassin's Creed Syndicate скучная игра. Интересных дополнительных миссий очень мало, сюжет утомительный. вещи для сбора ни о чём: грёбанные сундуки, шкатулки, бутылки, цветочки... всё хрень. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is very much a mixed bag, and it's certainly not for everyone, but the end result is far from bad. The atmosphere is incredible, probably one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. The last game I played that had atmosphere as good as this was BioShock. I love the Victorian London setting, my second favourite AC game setting. I love the Victorian London setting, my second favourite AC game setting. Like all other AC games, Syndicate is repetitive, very repetitive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The stealth and combat is fantastic, and has been massively improved since the previous ACs. The writing is not great, the graphics are sub-par, the story is vile, and some characters are terrible, but that's about it for its flaws. Expand

The setting is really great but what the **** happened to the gameplay?! The combat is weird and you can't even jump no more.

I originally bought this game probably a year after it came and for some reason I didn't want to play it and sold it shortly after. Here we are in 2019 and after playing AC Origins/Odyssey I got in the mood to play AC Syndicate. I played the game for awhile then took about a month break and returned back to it again to finally finish it. Here are my likes and dislikes of the game.

    Likes:
    1) Skill Sets. This is what drove me to play the game even more because I like upgrading my skill sets regardless of what game I am playing.
    2) Gang Upgrades. Is a nice addition although I didn't use the gangs as much it was still a cool feature to add.
    3) The London Environment. It was pretty cool seeing historical buildings and everything else London has to offer.
    4) The Zip Line attachment. For some reason other gamers did not like this feature but I really liked it as it did save time on climbing buildings, etc.
    5) Purchasing treasure maps. Saved a lot of time purchasing them rather than search for them.
    6) Leap of Faith. Executing the Leap of Faith from the tallest buildings in London sure is fun.

    Dislikes:
    1) Enemy characters appearance. Their appearance was the same throughout the game and it loses the appeal of the game.
    2) The graphics are okay.
    3) From what I remember there was no inclement whether like snow, rain, etc.
    4) The game gets VERY REPETITIVE which is why I took a month off from the game and when I returned to the game I just wanted to finish it so I could move onto my next game.
    5) I think the game could've been better off without Evie. I played Jacob 90% of the time. Didn't see the point in playing two characters.

In conclusion this game does have it's appeals but their are flaws in this game that hinder it from being a great game which is why I give it a 7/10.

A boring and bland game. I wasn't able to even complete the story of this game, I only got half way through. Graphics are nice and I love the location but everything else is just a bore to me. I wouldn't recommend this to be your first Assassin's Creed to play

Odd Assassin's Creed game right? For the first minutes it starts stunning, but the first hours of the game is a little unsettling, even because of lot of bugs from carovans, climbing session so bugged sometimes, and anyway the experience is not that great. Is not the best game out there, they took out the notifications of London places when you reach a famous point like big ben. It was anOdd Assassin's Creed game right? It was an great thing even on Unity but they sadly took it out, giving to the player the experience really disappearing if they don't know London. Jacob and Evie aren't strong characters, and apart from antagonists are all weak characters, even the hystorical ones. The stealth gameplay isn't great , the fights feel not so immersive, but they are cool. Power up system is disturbing, cause at very little more of half game i was max level, making all the experience pointless. Paymants too , cause you can boost up your gang expansion and you can even trade real money for in game credits.. At the end of the day, this Assassin's Creed is different from the others, taking a different path from the series. It is still a good game for the amount of things if have, London is recrated great. I have only one possitive thing to say about this game: great attention and work has been put to recreate the victorian London. They created an amazing map, and you feel like you are transported to the period from the first moment you arrive to London.
Its a shame that everything that happens on it is so plain boring. The two main characters are fine, not great, but fine. The problem

Its a shame that everything that happens on it is so plain boring. The two main characters are fine, not great, but fine. The problem comes with the rest of characters: you will never care about your allies, and you are never going to hate your enemies, and thats because they are so underdeveloped. There is no motivation to advance through the story, there is no motivation for you to hunt your enemies. Missions are simple and repetitive. Assassination sequences are better than normal ones, and better than in previous games, but as i said, you have no motivation to do them and barely even know who you have to kill. Secondary missions are terrible, and the enormous amount of collectibles are there just to distract you about the lack of quality of the rest of the missions. Ubisoft model of games (capture of bases, hundreds of chests around the map, hundreds of collectible items, etc) is just boring and repetitive. Overall, its just a empty game, with a lots of missions that consist on the same objectives again and again. Combat is really easy and fast, terribly worse than Unity (which is a millions time better than this one in every aspect, to be honest). Also, the modern times part of the game is just terrible and consists only in a few cinematics, nothing more. I miss Desmond....

    So my reccomendation is:
-if you love London and the Victorian period, play this game only for the recreation of the city.
-If you are a AC fan, you can skip this, because there is not much going on with this game in terms of story and lore. It repeats much of the info we already got in previous games.
-If you are just looking for a game with a good story or characters, then this is not the game for you.
-I can only recommend this if you are looking for a game that allows you to disconnect from reality and play in a very, VERY, casual way. The only reason i ended this game, is because i was watching youtube or listening to music while playing it. You dont need to pay attention to it, its that easy and uninteresting.

So, basically, its hard to recommend this to anyone. Its just uninteresting. Its not bad, its not terrible, its just playable, but really boring for most of the time. The combat gets old really quickly (and is easy af), quests are simple and repetitive, the characters are boring and the story is about nothing. Thats AC Syndicate for you.

A most enjoyable romp through Victorian London with an amazing backdrop different to what came before. A solid main narrative with 2 good leads slightly let down by tedious, repetitive and clunky missions.

I was very hyped up for Syndicate when I first saw the trailer, coming from London I was very excited to see my home city and capital city in an Assassins creed game set in the 1800s during to me the most important human time in history, the industrial revolution, that kick started the modern world we live in today, it was awesome to see that experience through a game, and through I gameI was very hyped up for Syndicate when I first saw the trailer, coming from London I was very excited to see my home city and capital city in an Assassins creed game set in the 1800s during to me the most important human time in history, the industrial revolution, that kick started the modern world we live in today, it was awesome to see that experience through a game, and through I game series I adore. So the scenery, I would give a 10, and I admit to being a little bias on that, but overall, it was a good game, but I felt like it lacked in areas, I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay, same way as Unity, but it was still better than Unity, the story was okay, the Protagonists the Frye twins were quite interesting at most, they did step up quite a bit from Unity, but to me, it didn't really feel like an AC game, I would argue Unity felt more like an AC game, it just felt like an 1800s London gangster game, but overall it was enjoyable. Another Assassin’s Creed game that you can either buy or ignore sight unseen depending on whether you grew tired of the old formula. Some innovations (e.g. the grappling hook) are a welcome addition, some (like two playable characters and their development system) feel forced and not really thought through. The brightest aspect of Syndicate is London, which might be the most spectacular city in the series. [13/2015, p.42]

Beautiful Victorian London restores faith in the series - but the stealth is in serious need of an overhaul. [Christmas 2015, p.64]
