The best assassins creed since 2. Had a blast with this absolutely huge game. The story ends awfully, and it does get very repetitive in the end, though.

This game is without hands down the best Assassins creed to date. I was very wary about buying this game because Unity was a huge let down. But I got this game and I'm very impressed. Everything about this game is great. And London is so beautiful and you can tell that unison put alot of effort and time into this game.

I'm rating it an 8 because no game other than GTA V deserves a 10

Amazing game, one of the best in the series, along with ACII, Brotherhood, and black flag. I think people should give it a try instead of hating, And for those who's saying that ACII is the best one, try to play it today and you will see how much its different from how you remember it.

And that is what's important when playing a video game: having fun. On that sole note, the game delivers. Expand

The game starts out fun and then progressively become tedious and a chore to finish. Maybe putting out a game every year is too ambitious. Just as the story starts to build, the story quickly becomes forced only to finish in pathetic fashion.

Currently I have only seen bugs in a cut scene where players don't show up, and a crowd calling for help when a dead NPC wasn't on the ground. Since this only came out a little while ago I forgive them.

Not a fan of the new combat mechanic (it's quite chaotic and button mashing involved). I dislike the "gamification" of the gears and outfit. e.g. you are level 4, you find something awesome after risking your life getting it. Let's say a Cape. Then the bloody cape requires you to be level 6 to unlock. Weapons, gears and clothes should not have a level locking. It should be: if you can find it / get it, you can wear it, without limitation. You can still make the items level up independently (as you kill people, sneak, steal, etc. based on the item). I would have appreciated a greater choice of weaponry. The water looks quite bad (like 1990 water). The glitches to collect are useless. You could have found something else to justify doing acrobatics.

Mixed feeling: historical content. It's mainly gone. Previous AC games had a lot of historical content. This one as barely anything. It's a little bit good as sometimes it was too much. But, even I noticed its absence. That's bad. I had 2-3 minor glitches, but it did not compromised the gameplay (almost during a kidnapping where the GPS system went wrong - leading me to the kidnapping point instead of a delivery spot).

Good elements: The twins. Great way to balance the gameplay and making it gender equal. The skills tree could have been a tad more customised for each of them. The skills tree itself is well made with some decent features. Abstraction of the glowing, the city is wonderful. The core missions are interesting and varying. The horse/chariot riding is interesting. The combat animations are quite nice and full of gore. Justifying your game rating. The game is playable for several hours (but not really re-playable).

    - Interesting and fun new concept for the series
    - Great graphics
    Cons:
    - Too buggy, despite being solid, it is way more buggy than any other game. Honestly, I never had problems with Unity, so it feels buggier than Unity.
    - The gameplay of the different characters still feel exactly the same.
    - MANY HORRIBLE MISSIONS.
    - Graphics are downgraded from Unity

Notable: I removed some cons because I realized they weren't too bad, but just kind of boring. This might sound like 7 or 8, but in the end, the graphics are still amazing, the missions are more enjoyable than not, the game is still not very buggy and I don't really care about the stealth vs head-on fight concept (2 character).

All i can say is that i purchased all the other assassins creed games and got bored before completing but this has kept me interested right through to the end. Lovely city, find myself constantly stopping to admire the gorgeous scenery, it really is a beautiful game. Playing as two characters is also a bonus and bar a few glitches it all ran very smooth. In my opinion best assassins creed yet.

Ubisoft gave into the PC police and added more women. It should not be about caving to political pressure or feminazi's, it should be about historical accuracy.

    Gameplay
I finished the story and captured all of the boroughs. This is not a bad game but it is also not the greatest game I have ever played. Like all Assassin's Creed games, it is repetitive. The game is fun to play when the controls do what you want. The controls can be difficult to master. There are instances when I want to be on a specific ledge in parkour mode and I end up on a ledge I do not want to hang on. It is really upsetting when you are trying to be stealthy and the controls place you where you do not want to be, thus resulting in getting caught by the guards/enemies. Ubisoft needs to fix this in their next game. The game is mostly melee and you need to surprise your enemy to kill them quickly or be prepared to fight them for a long time.

    The Story
The story is not complex. In a nutshell, your objective is to take over London and defeat the Grand Master Templar. There are no surprises or plot turns in the story. The main characters, Evie and Jacob, are unique to the series personality wise. Evie is an excellent character and reminds you of that cool smart chick next door. Jacob shows a significant human side once (he tried to save children in one sequence). His reckless and has the shoot first, ask questions later mentality in the story. I do not know what the major gaming critics are talking about when they say it is a horrible ending. Objectively, the ending to the Evie and Jacob story was not super exciting, but not horrible. The modern day story is unfinished and will likely continue to the next Assassin's Creed game next year.

Overall, I give it a 7. It is better than Unity but not the best story in the Franchise. The controls should be less convoluted and should have been simplified a long time ago.

However, to save others the financial loss I feel obligated to inform potential consumers about the pitfalls of embarking on a mission to purchase this software. From my personal experience this game exhibits little gameplay difference compared to Assassin's Creed Unity. As many other reviewers have remarked, the glitches are just as apparent and unacceptable as they were in Unity. I am unsure as to what is going on in the present gaming world, but why does it seem that so many PS3/Xbox 360 games are/were performing better/more efficiently than the games being released on these supposedly "markedly improved next generation" systems (I have both systems so I compare them regularly)? The glitches and attention to detail on these games are lacking immensely. To many I am sure my complaints will seem petty but I am sure that others will agree that these issues detract from the fun and realistic nature of the game.

For my starting point, I cannot stand in this game that your character seems to almost constantly meld with/pass through their enemies with whom they are engaged in combat. Often fatal strikes that would have been landed are lost to the software universe and no damage is inflicted on your assailant. Depending on the game this can sometimes mean the difference between success and having to restart a campaign or mission. I have also encountered on numerous occasions what can only be described as "falling into a black-hole or out of the world with no chance of escape" other than by dying or restarting the game.

Another component I take issue with is the lack of effect your character seems to have on the environment. By this I mean that it appears your character is almost weightless and can navigate an environment as if they were a ghost. How is it that when one is free running across chains or beams suspended by only one rope, the chains don't even bend a little or the balance of the beam isn't affected at all? I mean even in AC4 Black Flag on PS3 the ropes that the lead character would cross on ships would at least bow in relation to his weight and position in space. A random point I might add is are you really going to punch a train car handle three times to activate the release? Is it really that hard to just program the character to look as if they are struggling to raise a lever? Also there is little to no interaction from civilians/observers. These elements are trivial to many and may require far more data to actually incorporate into a game but important to me because it shows the developers actually took time to focus on the little details to really make a game stand out (for example games like Heavy Rain incorporating facial hair growth on lead male characters and baggy/blood shot eyes to display weariness/fatigue/heightened stress; Until Dawn displaying foot print paths in the snow showing exactly where your character has been; State of Decay incorporating fatigue when fighting/fleeing, scavenging for survival and being susceptible to disease/pestilence; Hitman series where if civilians observe you with a weapon they run to notify authorities). Small details but they truly add to the experience of making it real to life, more challenging, and they dramatically increase its repeat play-value in many consumers minds.

AC4 did provide many of these details and on a "less developed gaming system" at that! Not to mention AC4 took the best parts of AC2 and AC3 and combined them into one great game (the hunting, ship sailing, village construction and trade, alternate story lines/missions, side quests, etc.). AC Syndicate fails as miserably at these concepts as AC Unity did. Yes in AC Syndicate they add the element of fighting on moving trains and carriages but in all actuality who really cares if that and a few added combo moves are all the new features the developers really incorporated? Those attributes are more like new DLC to be purchased and added to an existing game. It is not worth charging full price and claiming it to be an entirely new experience in of itself. As one user remarked, I expect this game will be in the "marked down/discount bins" soon enough. If you absolutely must test it out I encourage you to do so but I would be patient and wait until it gets to that discounted price. I am sad to see the gaming industry heading this way and even more disheartened that we can't even count on honest professional reviews any longer as almost everything in present society has moved to money changing hands in exchange for praise and positive press. Of course maybe I am naive and it has always been like this in some form or another but I can say that I am glad that there are many reviews that can be counted on in my experience. Those reviews are the eloquent, intelligent, and sensible reviews of the real gamers and consumers.

Playing as Twins who bicker as most siblings do has helped me understand the protagonists and get to know them quicker than any other Assassins instalment.

Overall, the game makes me hopeful for the future of the franchise, but it's not there yet. Wildly mixed bag.
You get both ACII and AC Unity moments in this game.
On the good side, the terrible ideas that came last year like locked content behind companion apps, loyalty programs, multiplayer et cetera, are all gone. This alone is a definite improvement. Microtransactions are existent but not pushed.
The story is.. ok. That's all there is to it. Characters are fine, but have no depth, they are for all intents and purposes cut-outs. The setting is well-made and very detailed, but the place and time choice is not the best, as nice designed as it is, Syndicate's London, is well.. boring.
It's not a bad game by any means. It just has some really ugly and underdeveloped sides that keep it from being a good game. If you are not an AC fanatic, wait for a patch, and maybe a price drop too. If you are starved for an AC experience, and are not bothered by the absence of development in the modern timeline story, you will have fun with this, but be warned, there will be those odds Unity-like moments showing their ugly head when you least expect it. At least the series seems to be going in the right direction. I expect something even better in the coming years.
I would give the game a seven not for not bad but not great, but I deduct an extra point for some seldom but extremely annoying when they appear bugs.

the soundtrack is beautiful well written.

London looks great and you really feel like your in the industrial revolution.
the soundtrack is beautiful well written. Ironically the features that have helped improved it are from older games. You can hijack coaches a la GTA, the combat is reminiscent from Batman Arkham City as well as the grappling hook( even though it's not as fast, but that just makes sense, considering the times.) and you can have your gang members follow you and fight with you like in saints row.
You can perform environmental kills, like having hanging barrels drop on foes by throwing knives at them, set off dynamite by either shooting or throwing bombs at them. You can make enemies kill each other by either shooting them with hallucinogenic darts or at open fires that enemies are near to turn it into gas, affecting more than one enemy.
There are horse races now with coaches that, for the most part, I enjoyed. They aren't easy I really felt I heart pumping while I was playing them. They aren't all one type either. Either it's getting from point a to b, lap races. Beating a train(!), or even triathalons, so there's a lot of variety there.
Unfortunately, there are still problems with the game, caused by occasionally buggy controls that make the pc do things you didn't want them to. The world map is filled with far to many collectibles for my taste. The map is filled with side activities that can get tedious if you don't take a break from them, though they tried to give most of the gang related ones a back-story to try and make you more interested in them. I have experienced two bugs but not a lot and not nearly as bad as last years.
In the end, if you still like assassins creed you probably enjoy this. If your burned out on the series however, then either don't get it or wait for a sale or the price to go down, maybe even rent it if you can.
P.s. Just because I give it a seven doesn't mean it's bad. Anything below five is bad whereas fives is average, six is above average and seven is good.

It's story is unoriginal, the missions are tedious from the off and you can't help feeling about an hour into the game, this is a redressed revamp of the last edition of AC. There's something cynical about Ubisofts obsession with making this an annual release. Consider Fallout 3 was 7 years ago now, that is why the world is eager to embrace FO4 in a few weeks, and why this just feels weak and like a re-branding of Unity.

Personally, I'd like Ubisoft to go away and take a long hard look at what they haven't achieved and recognise that a franchise doesn't need an annual release to keep fresh in the buyers minds, it needs to be inspirational and enjoyable. After Black Flag, I would of happily awaited years for the next release and for the next one to blow me away - but instead we get Syndicate.

I wasn't sure if i could ever have fun again with an Assassin´s Creed game after Unity. This game does everything better than the last years entry. Give it a shot. Its totally worth it. I gave it a 10 because i had so much fun with it. Not because its a perfect game.

If you’re looking for a game with a deep plot or gameplay that mixes up the franchise you should probably skip this one.

I will start by stating that I am really enjoying this game. It’s a solid entry to the franchise that will give folks everything they have loved from the older AC games with a little more polish and far better graphics. Where AC bogs down is in its failure to bring anything new to the table.

Blackflag, by far one of my favorite games of all time, took the AC franchise and revolutionized it by adapting and building upon the preexisting mechanics to create something new and exciting. It tied these mechanics into the core of the gameplay to create a unique environment that was exciting and energetic. Syndicate fails at this, instead stagnating in old concepts and only adding in minor new mechanics that are mostly oriented around speeding up gameplay and fixing playability issues. Items like the hook shot, while fun and useful, are nothing more than an attempt to save players from spending hours scaling buildings that they just have to come back down. Something AC probably should have fixed long ago.
The characters in Syndicate are well rounded, unique, and have great report with one another. Unfortunately the detail put into the character development was not put into the plot which can be disjointed and jarring at times. It’s engaging enough to keep me playing but nothing to write home about. It appears that far more thought was put into the side missions then the main story line. I particularly enjoyed the Charles Dickens side quests which were great fun and changed up the atmosphere of the game.

I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good old AC romp (Unity Excluded of course). It would also be a great starting point for anyone who has never played an AC game and likes open world exploration and unique games mechanics. I doubt it will appeal to folks who know AC and have gotten bored with it. They will be looking for something new and won’t find it here.

This is one of the best open world games for this year. This was under development for more than 3 years before getting released, give some respect for those who struggled to make this game amazing. Review is most important for every game, especially for such franchise, make it a necessary feedback to improve playing this game better.

I never lost faith in Ubisoft even after the disastrous Assassins Creed Unity. Instantly likable characters , great setting. London is bristling with life and tons of meaningful side missions to do. Evie is a memorable assassin and dishes out some fun dialogues. Ubisoft are back with a Bang. Don't miss this one. I've just completed the game and I have to say that I was very impressed with it. Unity was such a disaster, but Syndicate was just the opposite. I was afraid that additions such as the rope launcher and carriages would take away from the game, but I'm happy to say that they didn't and were very fun to use. Our assassins this time are Jacob and Evie Frye, twins. The twins have the same charisma that Ezio had are extremely likeable. I daresay they are the best we've gotten since Ezio.

The story isn't the greatest, but it's certainly not the worst. The game shines with the side quests. You can liberate children from factories, or go on a bounty hunt, or even raid trains. There is quite a bit of side missions here and they are very fun. My favorite were the Charles Dickens memories, as we were actually hunting for GHOSTS!

The Modern Day story is also back..... well kinda. It's similar to Unity, but much more in-depth and pushed the story a bit further. Which was excited to see as the Modern Day was in standstill mode for all of Black Flag and Unity. There are some old fan favorites returning as well as some new characters appearing. I am also very excited to see more of a certain assassin that shows up in this game in future installments.

Overall if you are a fan of Assassin's Creed and you were burned, like I was from Unity, I encourage you to pick this game up and give it a try. Who knows, it just might pull you back.

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is ? Insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again expecting things to change". If you never played AC before, you may like it. But as a long standing fan of the series, I cannot give it more than five. I use to enjoy AC games, but it needs to move forward. The series could be so much more than what it is now. It is almost criminal to release such an unambitious, dull, joyless, repetitive and unsurprising game. Ubisoft even succeeded in the paradoxical feat of creating a game that feels exactly like the previous games gameplaywise, but does not have any part of the poetic soul that maked AC so great. My score is a red card. Please Ubi, I implore you to innovate. Stop making so dull games, AC games could be great, as they were at the beginning. But it needs to abandon the old formulas and templates of AC2. Make the world feel realistic and alive, make it systemic, with good AI, let us create informer networks, speak to npc's... Let the player be clever, add some emergent gameplay and good assassinations missions (in the Hitman style). Stop with all those on-screen indications as it totally breaks the immersion. Let us find the solutions by ourselves. Give us more freedom and opportunities : as I said, let us be clever. I want to be rewarded because I made something cool and the game responded to me, not because I've done what the game expected me to do." Expand

Honestly great game if your a fan of the franchise and looking for some of the best of what franchise has to offer and that is proven along with some new ideas to spice things up a little you will be more then happy with your purchase. You gonna have your haters and naysayers that either are still mad about Unity, just hate ubisoft period hence the bad scores of 0 for example, or that simply don't understand that you gonna get exactly what it is another AC title with every sequel that progresses the story some more while adding some new ideas and different location for historian fans as well as AC fans. If you want a different game then don't buy a sequel what did you think it was gonna be. When a franchise is successful fans want more of it not less and obviously enough fans buy every sequel for them to want to develop another sequel every year or two because gaming is a business and if the franchise was unsuccessful and not selling that we wouldn't see a sequel every year or two that's for sure so those who dislike it or want something different are clearly in the minority. So do yourself a favor and always try a game for yourself or very least watch some videos on gameplay and what not and don't decide solely by reviews as you can't always trust reviews these days between the fanboys or amount of magazines and reviews getting paid and having something to gain from writing up a favorable or non favorable review nothing beats trying the product or in this case game for yourself and then deciding as I always tell people. Plus don't know what kind of TV some people are playing on but the graphics are more then good compared to unity and a real beautiful game and there is no immersion braeking going on either you can still swift kill enemies unlike what one reviewer said in a review I read. So far I have liked AC1, AC2, AC3, black flag, Rogue, and Syndicate and only reason Unity isn't on the list is because of its bad launch and how broken it was because after they fixed a lot of what was broken Unity actually wasn't a bad game just to much focus on multiplayer in my opinion aside from bugs.

Having said that the game is good like every assassins creed normally is and not broken or riddled with bugs like Unity was and like the hidden gem that Rogue was last year this sequel benefitted from not having all the multiplayer junk Unity had and tried to push onto players. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a true coop mode with Syndicate like that of for example Resident evil 5 had where one player could be Jacob while another could join you and play as twin Evie during missions and I think it would have worked well but hey not a big deal. I would have liked game to have abit more customization and progression like past AC titles have had I mean even Unity felt like it had lot more customization, progression, and a bigger selection with gear as I found this sequel to have less in those areas. You quickly notice that it does not have enough variety of weapons for an AC title I mean they could have had more variety of weapons including knifes and swords aside from just three types in weapons selection and just one type in firearms nevermind how light the belts, outfits, and etc was too. Don't know why this was the case but maybe they plan to add more of a variety through DLC or at least I hope so but other then that so far fun and great game with plenty of great sights of London and plenty to do with both of the twins just wish game storywise was a bit longer but then again they develop a new title every year or two so I can't complain and can't wait to see what era and location in history do they use with next sequel being big fan of history makes this one of the few titles I look forward too when it comes to exploring different times of history and interacting with important figures of those times as well and I love it. It's so great how they fit history and different eras into each sequel and make it work with their story that they are trying to tell nevermind educating as well for people who might not know so props to Ubisoft and developers on that as I feel this is one of the biggest reasons fans love assassin creed and look forward to sequels.

Lastly reason most fans don't care how fast sequels are released is because if the game is good then it doesn't matter how long a game takes to be developed on the fact is the length of time it takes to develop a game does not guarantee or mean it will be better or worst as talent and amount of resources a game has is still most important as there are many examples of games being bad even after taking so long to be developed and vice versa. Keep in mind that big publishers like ubisoft, ea, and activision for example have some of the best talent and multiplie teams of developers making it possible for them to not only work on multiple games and franchises but deliver games a lot faster

That being said, I was also one of the few people who enjoyed Unity and didn't experience many bugs during my playthrough. So when I first heard about Syndicate I was really surprised by how underwhelmed and unexcited I was, I even told myself I wasn't going to buy it which lasted me until release day when I caved to internal pressure and bought it, and now that I've beaten it I can safely say that I'm glad I did!

At first I hated it, the button mashing combat system, the less interesting Brother, the crappy occasional day 1 parkour glitch, the random but luckily rare game crashes. All this soon faded away though as I got into the main story a little more, and soon found myself actually liking most of the characters and the story. Jacob even started to grow on me about halfway through the story missions! The characters were made up of many names I knew about and was even surprised to see a few I wasn't expecting to see make an appearance. It's clear to me that the teams working on this game put a lot of time into painstakingly recreating London's iconic look and feel for the era, and the characters complimented it better than any other games in the AC series. The story does however start taking some turns near the end which make my question the decision making abilities of some characters, but other than that I really enjoyed the ride.

Gameplay wise, not a lot has changed in the "feel" of the game seeing as how it's using an updated version of Unity's engine. The parkour is just as fluid (when it works), the map is beautiful, and overall it's a great improvement over Unity, aside from the combat. I enjoyed the more precise fencing-esque combat of Unity and was looking forward to seeing them improve it for Syndicate, but instead they changed it completely for a more simplistic button mash which gets a bit draining after awhile.

I could talk about the in-game currency they offer since a lot of people seem to have an issue with this, but honestly I forgot it even existed the entire time I was playing because it doesn't try and force you to buy anything since everything can be earned in game, and it's more fun that way anyhow instead of purposely making it a grind so you buy credits.

Simply put, this game is one of the best Assassins Creed games yet! They learned a lot of a lessons from Unity, but they still have a ways to go before Assassins Creed can be great again. I think if Ubisoft were to give their studios the freedom and time they need, they would have a seriously awesome game that might make people excited for this franchise again. But for an annualized franchise, this one isn't bad. The only reason to not buy this game is if you don't like AC in the first place, if you do than you know what you're gonna get and hopefully you'll be surprised by the improvements made.

The tools they provide you with for stealth make playing the game that way much more doable, eagle vision is much better and very useful, throwing knives are very effective, the grapple gun is a god send for quick getaways, and the hidden blade is as useful as ever.

The combat is far faster paced and also much more challenging. When fighting a large group it requires intense focus to fend off multiple enemy attacks, especially when fighting higher difficulty enemies. While attacking an enemy one must be constantly watching for counters, new enemy attacks, and gun shots. Leveling up one's fighting skills and gear is absolutely essential.

The two protagonists are very likable characters. Their banter is both witty and at times deep. A good story that's let down by a poor ending.

Also worth nothing is that the game runs very well and looks great! I only had frame rate drops at especially high synchronization points.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Minor spoilers. Okay. First of all I only bought the game because I'm an Anglophile and wanted to run around Victorian London (which I've visited in real life four times) and play the Jack the Ripper DLC (I'm also an amateur Ripperologist.) Have been waiting desperately for an Assassin's Creed based in London. Secondly - I did not play Unity but if this is better than Unity then Unity must have been attrocious. Last game I played was Black Flag which was pretty good. This one, however, I've got some major problems with. Haven't experienced any glitches or anything but I'm already bored to death. I've finished Whitechapel and am about half way in Lambeth. In reality, Whitechapel is in the "East End" of London and yet they've situated it in the north of London!!! Why??? Anyone remember East Enders show on BBC? That's Whitechapel. "EAST" end, Ubisoft!!! Not north. In those days Whitechapel Bell Foundry was the biggest industry in the area. They made the Big Ben bell and the Liberty Bell! - yet I see no sign of it!! Why??? They've got two train stations and other factorys, why not this one? The rest of London looks historically accurate as to placement but we'll have to see once I get there.

My major complaint is that this game seems really dumbed down from AC 2 and even Black Flag. The story sucks or lack of story I should say. Big deal - you're a brother and sister trying to start a rival gang in London against the Templars - ho hum. You don't even really care about them. There is no 'hook' like there was with Ezio (outrage at the Borgias for killing his family and getting revenge, finding out his father was an Assassin, etc.) Evie is okay but Jacob's an ass. Now you're already Assassins and the beginning at Abstergo went by so fast I can't even remember what it was about. Only that they brought two people back from AC 2. BECAUSE THAT GAME WAS GREAT and you've gone downhill since Ubisoft!!!!!

Climbing towers in AC2 was really hard at times - figuring which side to go up, which handhold led somewhere - now you can scale everything with ease. No challenge at all. I know jumping in AC games is ridiculously unreal but in this game you're leaping 10 ft above yourself with no problem. Ezio had to learn the high jump, remember? You don't even do the scan around each high point to open up an area when you reach it - all areas are open to you but are based on skill level - you just do the Leap of Faith (which is also glitched - I keep hanging off edge not jumping.) The controls are weirder than previous games - you can't free jump in the air to reach a Helix even if you crash and die. Actually, I haven't crashed and died once!! Boring. No skill is involved at all in climbing and jumping. A 3 yr. old could play this.

It's kind of neat playing two different characters but they both have the same skills, weapons, clothes, etc. Boring. And they said they both should level up together but they don't. I played Evie for all of Whitechapel then switched to Jacob and had to re-assign all skill points again that I earned with Evie to bring him up to same level. Tedious. And also you used to be able to walk around a town without every goddam cop coming after you. Now they are everywhere along with rival gang members. It took me 15 minutes to try to buy something as I kept getting spotted by the baddies! And again we have to find ridiculous things like pressed flowers?? Why would Jacob Frye want books of pressed flowers? That's worse than feathers or flags!!

The city of London - the buildings and people are fantastic - but no one seems to care that you're going in their houses and opening chests or climbing walls right in front of them. No funny comments like in AC2. Only thing I really like is using the enviroment to kill baddies - like dropping barrels on them, boxes of dynamite, etc. And driving carriages.

All in all, so far it's a disappointment but it's playable and I will finish it, at least until I get to Westminster.

Im used to the counter system in thebatman arkham series where your not going to have multiple people attacking you at once without the chance to actually counter it and in some fights(sometimes its my fault) but you'll be surrounded by enemies and it won't give you a chance to counter it or attack the enemy. I think these things are things ubisoft can improve on. However this game is a whole nother solar system from unity. I didn't experience any game freezes or the layout of the game in the distance to load. The combat is miles better and people say repetitive but i feel like it was less of a battle with the controller than arkham knight or arkham city was.Best assasins creed so far and its an experience that combines elements of far cry (liberating the city) and gta in a weird way. I completed the game, all side missions and important stuff at around 25 hours played.
I had quite a lot of fun taking over London, those side missions repeat quickly but they are actually a lot of fun if you do them with 5 of your gang members.
Sadly, the same cannot be said about the main story. We get a horrible "modern day story", what means we get 10 minutes of "Hey Initiate play

But the most disappointing thing for me was that the templars are no threat for you - at all. You kill one after another, and all they do is "we have to stop this" and "we will stop this". Except they don't. They don't even try. This is topped by a disappointing boss fight and ending.

Graphics are nice, not as gorgeous as Unity but still pretty good in my point of view. Wait until the price drops.

A bit better than Unity; Still too many characters with their own story (Marx? Darwin? Why do we need them?). Dialogs are idiotic, or main characters are idiots - agree to do things before they understand what they are doing and why. Why I think so: I compare it to Ezio's series. Why Ezio's games were the best? Because you lived the story of Ezio yourself. Now you just do parkour.

The game is just plain fun. It's not perfect, but Syndicate goes back to the roots of AC and delivers a game that is worthy to be called a successor to AC2 and Black Flag. The world is huge as as always and full of things to do, but doesnt feel as overwhelmind as Unity did. Music is also a huge win, some beautiful scores most notably when you are atop a vantage point. At one of them i sat purched for good fee minutes so i could listen to it all.

Graphically is is not bad, it lacks some of the vidual flare that unjty had bht overall I'd say it is good. Rain effects feel a bit phoned in, but the world is full of life and the day / night cycle is a welcome return.

On the negative side - glitches are still present, mostly in the form of clipping and textures not loading in quickly enough. I had a in engine cut scene play where a character clipped through horse whi,e she was talking and had no mouth movements, another time on another in engine cut scene both evie and jacob did not render but all of their equipment did. Another time most game breakingly of them all, an entire train didnt load in when at a train station - i wws promptly run over and killed. Other annoyances stem from terrible frame rates at times, mostly in the train and an odd and infuriating bug where i am unable to walk through the second carriage because npcs are in the way, making me drunkenyl stager out onto the roof and leap over to the last carriage. Anoying. Finally, the rooe launcher is great when it work, however a good 30-40% of the time it can never seem to find a point to lock onto despite me staring right at one like someone in lust over a ledge on a building. Frustrating.

Plaonly this is a better game, yet i can't help but feel AC really needs a year off to rejouvinate.

I really love what they did with Jacob and Evie, they literally squabble about everything and it's hilarious, a refreshing change from the bland dialogue in AC:Unity. I also love how you can switch between them in an instant which makes for a great addition to the game play. London like Paris in AC:Unity is a beautiful city to explore. The addition of carriages and trains only further adds to the realism.
The only thing I didn't like were the tailing missions, where you have to be careful not to get too close to the enemy. These missions are especially frustrating and can often get boring, and a single mistake can force you to restart from scratch. The story isn't also exactly great either.
Overall I think this is an excellent game and well worth the purchase. This isn't the best AC game there is but it's also far from the worst.

At first glance I thought Syndicate was a literal carbon copy. I decided to play it for myself and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun I've had thus far with the game. In direct comparison to Unity (in both my subjective and objective thoughts about it), that's not a difficult battle to win however.
First of all the characters are enjoyable, I can see how one might find Jacob irritable, but Evie is definitely a joy. One thing that seems quite small and yet left me smiling to myself was 'sneaking' for the sheer fact that it steps in the direction of having togglable hoods. There's a strange satisfaction of sneaking onto a blighters boat, sabotaging their goods and then hoping off and watching Jacob pull the hood down and put his hat back on like he's a normal bloke. Now, I'm also not one that cares about graphics but these are definitely the best I've seen for Assassins Creed. A section near the beginning of the game had me within an establishment climbing on industrial pipes and whatnot; The lighting that came through the windows was visually stunning to me (It was very reminiscent of the beautiful whimsical lighting in AC2) while I find London itself to have an appealing melancholy look to it.
Without dragging on; While I don't agree with the yearly churn-out of the franchise, this is a massive improvement and the most fun I've had playing Assassins Creed in a long time. If you don't have an estranged vendetta against Ubisoft then I recommend picking up the game. If you are of the group I mentioned however, I have a feeling you will try to dislike the game no matter what.

Syndicate corrected every aspect that made Unity so unpopular as well as adding a ton of new gameplay elements that are sure to excite. The combat has an Arkham feel to it, if Batman was in Gangs of New York, but has a depth to it that is similar to old-fashioned Brotherhood. (The combat is much more challenging than the mash-counter system of the "old days," but it's satisfying with every press of the button, and leaves you with a rewarding feeling when you've won.)

--- It's the first Creed game where I've felt like the combat is almost more fun than the stealth. ---

The world is, by far, the most vibrant and busy open-world I've ever experienced. Smaller boats and floating jetsam rock in the water realistically when you jump onto them. Not at all does this game feel stretched thin. It looks and feels as solid and reliable as Arkham Knight, for a comparison.

All in all, I gave this a 10, because I wholeheartedly believe that's what it deserves. It's the best game I've played on PS4 yet, and it keeps getting better, the farther I get into it.

I had a blast with this game! It brings back the story and that classic AC feel! It's worth the buy and I think it will reinstate people's faith in these games!

Game is alot fresher than last years. Big plus is it works. After they tinker with some of the minor things this game will be smooth. A good step forward was taken from the disaster last year. Viva La London.

Another Assassin’s Creed game that you can either buy or ignore sight unseen depending on whether you grew tired of the old formula. Some innovations (e.g. the grappling hook) are a welcome addition, some (like two playable characters and their development system) feel forced and not really thought through. The brightest aspect of Syndicate is London, which might be the most spectacular city in the series. [13/2015, p.42]

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the best Assassin’s Creed since Black Flag. Ubisoft returns to form. [Nov 2015]

Beautiful Victorian London restores faith in the series - but the stealth is in serious need of an overhaul. [Christmas 2015, p.64]
