Last night I took my MW3 disc out of my PS3 and i don't know if i'll put it back in. After a handful of multiplayer matches i decided to register my elite membership. I was asked to play one match on Black OPS of multiplayer then log refresh the page. When i put my Black OPS disc is and loaded my first match, I was blown away at how much better the game looked and played. I felt Infinity Ward had the upper hand Treyarch when it comes to the Call of Duty series but MW3 really let me down. I read a article on IGN about how MW3 was not a port of MW2, but i couldn't tell any different. colors look washed out, sound is lacking. I have not played the campaign but i don't see any reason to. I really think I will stick with Battlefield 3 and think twice before I spend $100 on a game ( Hardened Edition ). Activision, Sledgehammer I wish you could have provided me an experience that i was hoping for. This comment is not being left to build Battlefield 3 into something its not but to say that MW3 has not lived up to the hype, for me anyway. Expand

Couldn't even compare it to games like Portal 2 that utilize creative story lines and innovative game play. Same ol' call of duty, run gun and plot twists that are about as predictable as you get. Multiplayer? Haha, pitiful. Balance issues and total lack of teamwork like nothing else. Players that just run about, using a sniper as a shotgun and getting unbelievably unbalanced kill streaks. The games a joke, and so are the critic reviews. I'm not sure why paid professionals cannot deduct that this game is just the same as every other member of the Call Of Duty franchise. 0/10. I'm glad one of the two war games delivered. BF3 was garbage, "Above and beyond the call" my ass. What everyone says is true... This is the same as the other MW games in that it's a fast paced exciting story, addicting multiplayer, and the survival mode is a great addition.

I wouldn't take any of the low scores on Metacritic too personally. Most of the people who bought MW3 are playing it and not writing bad reviews. However, it's not MEANT to. While that sounds lazy on paper, and may cause some "I feel like I've done this before" moments as already stated by others, let's all be mature adults and give the game a realistic score not based entirely out of being butthurt because you were silly and expected this to be a completely different game. MW3 is not a 0, or a 1, or anything on the lower end. Infinity Ward put time into this game, and while they may not have reinvented the wheel, they tweaked the things that worked for the first two games to make them BETTER. And I, for one, am completely okay with that.

Bottom line: If you want innovation, look elsewhere. If you're like me and just want more of what you grew to love in MW2 with fresh maps and a more balanced multiplayer experience, don't pass this one up.

For a company that makes MILLIONS of dollars on the COD series, you would think they could and SHOULD invest in dedicated servers to handle all the lagging issues in the game. What fun do people have, if all they do is lag. Or time out. Or can't find matches but end up in some brazilian ranked lobby? What is Activision doing? What will IW/SH do to get this fixed!? I want to play in my timezone damn it! Hit detection is awful. Shot guns are awful. Rubber bullets. Commando. Last stand! Nothing has changed. You guys deserve my 3 score until you fix these issues.

The leveling progression is way too high in multiplayer too. In one match I went up three levels. You don't get the sense that you earned the level you are at. The gaming industry is more and more ripping of consumers by simply re-skinning games instead of making new ones. When will devlopers actually develop new engines? Do we have to wait till the next generation of consoles?

How much work went into the making of MW3, in comparison to say COD4? MW3 uses the same map objects (such as the busses, the tanks) as seen in COD4. These objects exist in Activision library - map creation for them is simply a drag-and-drop. It's not creation.

The graphics, the gameplay, the engine... everything is the same. How much of MW3 is actually different or original? 20% perhaps?

I'm asking everyone on metacritic, for the sake of future game development, to score this game low & send a message to the gaming industy, LOUD & CLEAR that we WILL NOT ACCEPT re-hashed, re-skin products.

If you want to reap the profits, but in the work. Develop game play, develop the engine, improve the graphics... don't patronise your own customers by changing the maps and retailing the game at premium price.

Despite no massive revolutionary game engine, or no relatively new features, MW3 will draw you in more than Battlefield ever did. I am a huge fan of singleplayer modes. I have been playing COD since the second one came out and always have enjoyed the stories that INFINITY WARD told (no offense Treyarch). MW3 does such a great job, along with any other game in the modern warfare series, of producing villians you truly hate, badass comrades and friends you hate to see die. The levels are intense as always and usually always have that "OMG that was cool" element in each one. These elements are what make COD's singleplayer so much better than BF3's. I didn't care for my marine in Iran the same way i did for Soap, Price and Delta Force. Overall i felt the singleplayer was a success. Co-op is fun too. Infinity Ward and Activision have learned from Treyarch's Zombie mode, that endless waves of enemies means endless waves of fun. The new survival mode uses this mode and should provide the player with hours of entertainment. And if one gets bored, you can always jump over to the mission based modes for a even more fun. Multiplayer, will as always be the mainstay for most. While not as innovative as other games (cough BF3) it takes the core formula that changed online gaming forever and improves upon it. Regardless of what people will say, next year at this time there will still be millions playing this game everyday. Most hardcore gamers seemed to have turned away from COD but they forget that COD isn't about the hardcore gamer, its about creating a game that is easy enough that anyone can get good at it. But complex enough that one can never seem to master it. Millions will buy this game and in the end will have played it more than any other online game this year. While I myself enjoy BF3's multiplayer more, the majority of the public will play Call of Duty. Overall, I feel this game has been put down by so many for so long that it isn't getting the attention it deserves. Infinity Ward has worked hard and long to create this series, they deserve the credit for the great work they have done over the years. Now we will live in a Treyarch COD world. Looking back people will look favorably on this game. A praise it deserves. Expand

I would say this is one of the worse of the serious. Short campaign. Kills streak system is worse than before. Allowing you to reset the kill streaks after you reach them all three. Kills with kill streaks counts towards your next kill streak. So basically you don't have to die to regain them. Other words this game isn't challenging anymore and doesn't offer anything fresh. Is true the engine might be re touch a little, but you can't really tell. This game fails at bringing something new on the table. Critics might say is worth it but from a player stand point is one to let go. At least treyarch did great at releasing something fresh and new last year.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
