I for one am tired of being fed the same old tripe year in, year out after being promised so much in the lead up to each game. I have fallen for this rubbish too many times, I've returned my copy of the game and that's the end of Call of Duty for me. Once a superb title that has fallen victim to greed and laziness.

I swear to god this is the exact same CoD I have been playing for the last 5 years! Nothing ever seems to change in this game including the predictable and unoriginal plotline. Multiplayer is literally a rehash, very few changes to it except for 2 game modes. People don't spen your money on this greedy developer's game so they can whither away.

It is nearly the same exact game as Call of Duty and I just paid a total of $115 within the last year. This is the same recycled game. At least be innovative like BF3. Think I am bias? Just search online like I should have, perks 90% same, weapons, 90% same, MP maps feel the same. Very unforunate.

Imagine taking the same route to work and back every day, that is this franchise right now

Imagine taking the same route to work and back every day, that is this franchise right now with MW3, nothing changed at all. False promises. Can't even play better that it's last installment.

IGN's reviews are clearly BOUGHT and PAID for. Activision has ruined CoD, do not support this game as I have mistakenly and previously ill-informed.

Quite possibly one of the worst CoDs ever made. Cant even give this points for effort since its clearly a ctrl-c ctrl-v game. all the maps seem to promote obnoxious camping gameplay and some of the guns are still overpowered beyond belief. Unless you're new to the CoD series then I wouldn't even bother with this.

if you feel differently, please let me know why. i love talking about games and i love making them. A good game designer plays good and bad games, but can explain why they are good or bad.

I think it an immature disservice to the hard work of the staff at infinity ward, sledgehammer games, and raven software to simply write off MW3 with a one sentence review, and giving them a zero or a one; chances are you have not even played a few hours of the game yet, or given an opportunity to each of its modes. For those that are willing to invest a little more time, I think there is a plethora of replay value hidden with the MW3 world. Survival mode is a very welcome addition, not to mention the fun to be had with the standard levels of Spec Ops. Although I would have maybe preferred 4 player for the survival mode, the feeling that is derived from battling it out with just one friend of yours is still very satisfying and has a high replay value. Multiplayer does feel slightly familiar to me, and the maps a little bit too condensed, but the strike packages are a real refreshment, as well as the ability to unlock weapon perks. Every single game it feels like your character is progressing, which is a good feeling overall. I do feel the game really does still need some work though, as the spawning system is still heavily flawed (I don't know how many times an enemy somehow has spawned directly behind me so far); as well as the inability to do simple things like climb onto a car, or any other reachable surfaces. I have been running often times and stopped completely in my tracks because my characters right arm must have bumped into a small object, which is a nuisance. Lag is also a huge issue (unless your able to afford stellar internet), I am supposed to be getting 7-10 MB a second, but in some games the opposing player doesn't even look like they have fired yet on my screen but I magically die and fell like chucking my controller across the room. When I actually do have a solid ping connection, it seems to run like most call of duty games before it. Another minor grip that i feel that black-ops got right, was during objective based matches like domination, when you zoom in inline towards a point, the A, B, or C, should fade out in order allow your field of vision to be unaffected if searching for an enemy. As a final note, the new game modes are fun (kill confirmed and team defender), and a welcome change of pace. I have not played the single player campaign yet, so my comments are more strictly reserved for Spec Ops and Multiplayer. The spawning issues, in my opinion, could be averted if we had a few bigger maps to choose from, as each of them feel slightly too small for my tastes. Though the map size may feel great to the run and gunners, its not for everyone. All in all, I am still satisfied with my purchase, as I have enjoyed the Call of Duty formula since the original Modern Warfare. I own battlefield 3 as well and will go back and forth between these two games depending on what style of combat I want to engage in for the day. Expand

But, let me give an example for my arguement: Counter-Strike is still one of the biggest FPS's in the world - after being out for over ten years and never changing the formula. People like the way it feels and they wouldn't want it to change very much, if at all. Modern Warfare is the console version of that formula. It works, not because people are 'mindless drones', but because they love the gameplay and want a fresh look on the formula. New maps, graphical tweaks, and great gameplay could keep this game going for years.

I could understand that some people are tired of call of duty, that's fine. I never really got into the other games too much - just played them on and off - but I'm having a blast with this game. Gameplay wise, this is by far the best 'feeling' game of the series, the controls just feel right. As for the maps, they are the best ones yet. If you are the type that likes to lay low in a building somewhere in a corner and camp... you might hate these maps. The maps are small and made for fast action. They all have a great 'flow' to them, many different routes to take, and many ways to either put yourself in good position to flank enemies or get out of a bad situation. There's also tons of cover, there's debris/objects everywhere, so there's many different ways to 'play' the areas of a map.

All in all, an amazing iteration of COD, the best one yet. As you can see from the other reviews on this website, the hatred toward the call of duty franchise is unmatched - as of this writing, there are 863 'negative' reviews with only 215 'positive'... But, there are nearly two million people, just on Xbox Live, playing MW3 online at this very moment.

The new multiplayer game modes are a welcomed addition to say the least. I did find that there were some "glitches" with certain things , such as the knifing, but its still overall extremely fluid. The story mode was fun to play through and quite interesting to see it all come together from the beginning to now . My only gripe is that the story mode was extremely short, between 3.5 to 4 hours depending on how you play. But lets face it, who buys a Call of Duty game anymore for the story ? Everything now is multiplayer, which is why I was so pleased with the story that they did do. Even on a primarily multiplayer game , they still took the time and energy to put together a great story, which I appreciate. So far the maps on multiplayer are decent, but nothing to thrill about. I definately look forward to the map packs to see what else they add to it all. Overall I love the game, with only a few shortcomings its definately another great leap forward in the COD progression. I won't go to in depth with this review because I don't want to spoil it but PLEASE don't listen to the other reviews. Theres a reason why MW3 does as well as it does and this game deserves the sales and recognition it gets. As they say it gets lonley at the top.

Negatives- They took out some of the killstreaks like nuke. That was a major disapointment it really gave you something to strive for.
They need a brush enviroment for snipping.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.
