Battlefield 3 is a game that makes you feel like your are in a war. The game play is fun because it includes teammwork and the maps are awesome. The vehicles are what make this game shine. Riding in tanks, jets, helicopters, or just cars around huge maps make you want to keep playing the game. Im so happy I bought this game instead of mw3.

Great Game, Unique feel and addicting. Definitely my go-to FPS this year. MW3 though has a better campaign but for multiplayer online, MW3 slacked this year and the game that does it better in my eyes is BF3.

Great shooter, true successor to BFBC2, and much better than MW3 (I've played them both). If you want a true challenge and no bull, pick up BF3 and play a real game.

This is an amazing game, it exceeds all my expectation. The game show how a battlefield really is. Its really good. I dont like the lack of mods and not having 64 players experience on ps3, thats why im giving a 9.

this game is a lot of fun... the audio sounds so incredible,. the visuals are astounding...

the only issue i have though is that my PS3 hangs often when i play this. hope they can patch it up soon... that's the only factor holding me back giving this badboy a perfect 10...

I am not a big first person shooter fan at all. My favorite franchise and shooting game of all time is the socom series which is a third person tactical military shooter. To me the first person shooters were all about arcade style play where I prefer more realism. I started wit the single player because I wanted to get a feel for the game before embarking into the multiplayer. The single player is absolutely amazing my only gripe about it is that it is a bit short. But the story is great, the graphics are mind blowing, the guns are realistic the sounds make you think you are actually on the battlefield. It is a truly a gaming experience that can't be missed.

Once I beat the single player I jumped in to the multiplayer and I am still discovering that part of the game. So far I have stuck to team deathmatch and its a beauty. The maps are beautiful and fun to play I cant get over the sheer realism this game has. To me Call of Duty looks like a cartoon even on a 1080p tv. But Battlefield looks photo-realistic and true HD. Its amazing they can make a game look like this on a 6 year old console (ps3). The online also has a game mode called conquest where you can get in tanks, vehicles, jets and etc. as well as be a ground troop. I havent played that much as I said I am sticking to team deathmatch right now.

There is also a co-op mode that you can play with a friend online. Overall this game rocks. Its worth 60 dollars and you wont be disappointed

BF3 sets itself apart from Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) with its ambition (giant maps, land/sea/air vehicles, and new weapon enhancements) and focus. Games are won by accomplishing objectives and both winners and losers come away with at least some progress.

The single player campaign is nothing ground breaking but is a nice appetizer for the online multiplayer main course. The modern FPS is, for better or worse, mostly about leveling and grinding for better weapons so this game is definitely not always "fair" for all players (at least not in the Counter-Strike or Team Fortress 2 sense), but it's definitely a more level playing field than MW3's. It towers over MW3 in every sense, even on the PS3 (which is the version I'm speaking of specifically). You might not have time to play every FPS this year, but this one should definitely be one of them. A remarkable achievement, don't miss it.

As a bad company 2 player, I had high hopes for battlefield 3. And for the most part it meets and even exceeds some of my expectations. Firstly just to get the elephant out of the room or in this 'review', the single player. Battlefield series has never been much of a single player title and battlefield 3 is no different. Due to very restrictive gameplay, very cliché story and worst of all, getting repetedly killed by an enemy from one corner of the room whilst you are dealing with the enemy in the other die. The only reason why you will want to play the single player mode is to unlock the maps in CO-OP missions. I am not going to talking much about the CO-OP missions since i have only played 2 matches. However the main reason why anyone is going to buy BF3 is for their multiplayer mode. Dice really have shown what they can do with the frost bite engine 2.0 here. From the amazing vehicle damage to the the complete destruction of building it really is a unique experience, compare to other FPS in the market. All of guns feel solid and powerful. Graphically the game looks amazing but I do feel DICE could have done better however what it lacks visually they more than make it up in sound. Its is mind-blowing. From assault rifles to snipers they all sounds amazing. I cannot even tell you the experience of hearing the building next to you being completely obliterated, coming out of the head set. YOU NEED TO HAVE A PROPER HEADSET FOR THIS GAME.

One other thing DICE have successfully done is rewarding you for every action you do in the game. The game reward you for almost anything you do, so you can be the best player of the match without even killing any of the enemy player. In my opinion Battlefield 3 is the best shooter in the market. DICE have truly have made something special.

Multiplayer is unsurprisingly the best part of this game with tons of weapons and features for you to unlock, and each of the 9 maps released so far is distinctive and fun to play with, let alone all those cool vehicles which did nothing but making the multiplayer gameplay more amazing and unpredictable. However, it does frustrate me from time to time when the map is too huge that I spend a lot more time running than shooting. The gameplay is still great with the FROSTBITE 2 engine, the accuracy is full and so is the range and lots of destruction and explosions. The multiplayer is endless and unlocking things is individual, every gun has to unlock it's own attachments and ranking up will take a while.I think also that this is why I keep coming back to get new unlocks and attachments.Melee kills are now worth taking dog tags the player can now choose which dog tags they want but the player has to unlock them but if you melee kill you can preview the unknown locked dog tag.If you struggle getting points that's because you have to do the objectives you get tonnes of points for completing and attacking objectives. The customizability is emmence I mean you can now customize your gun entirely compared to BATTLEFIELD:Bad Company 2 which is great. The single player is good not great. It's totally different than multiplayer the plot has been seen recently from the games competitor(Call of Duty:Black Ops) the story is interesting and idle and the places and missions are cool.

I love bf3 it's the game i look foward to, when turning on my ps3 and with the new map pack back to karkland coming out december 6, or around that date i'm excited. especially because i bought the limited ed. and it's going to be free, and as a ps3 owner i'm going to get it a week earlier than the other console, so thats pretty cool, BUT PLEASE IF YOU TRY BF3 MAKE SURE ITS A HD t.v. thats when you will realize the full potential. unless you have a pc. I really hate to finally play a game when it has received the amount of hype Battlefield 3 has. Even if I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the game, it's not hard to feel somewhat disappointed when the hype has reached a fever pitch. Fortunately, this is not the case for BF3. I will say that the single player campaign was not on the level I was hoping it would be. Even if I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the game, it's not hard to feel somewhat disappointed when the hype has reached a fever pitch. Fortunately, this is not the case for BF3. I will say that the single player campaign was not on the level I was hoping it would be. The visuals and polish were astounding but the story's length and coherency could have been better. But that's not really why I purchased the game is it? I am a relative newcomer to the BF series so I can't help but compare it to Modern Warfare at every level. The first thing I noticed was a glaring glitch of some sort. Every time I shoot an enemy in BF3, they seem to fall over and I am rewarded with points. That never happens in MW3. All kidding aside, BF3 blows away the competition in every respect. The gun play is tight and the bullets are deadly. The movement and animations give me a real sense of control and help to immerse me in the fight. Add vehicles and environmental destruction to the mix and DICE has far exceeded the latest in the COD franchise. I would have loved to see MW3 improve on the now 5 game old formula but at least the excellence of BF3 will force the issue next year. I'm sure many will disagree with my take on the winner of this battle, which is understandable, considering many people like to hide in corners and wait until someone runs past for an easy kill from behind. At least in DICE's offering you can achieve redemption by dropping a building on the sorry sap. I see Battlefield keeping my interest for many months, if not years to come. Bravo to DICE and to EA for recognizing the innovation crippling business model that they almost pioneered. This is a first hand account of what they avoided by letting the creatives do their thing. The best modern FPS hands down. That being said, the FPS is a tired genre in my opinion. Otherwise it would have gotten a 10. Most of the maps are great (the subway one is garbage) with the addition of the back to karkand expansion (wake island, you dirty beast) the game is just getting better.

Battlefield 3 is a great game. It does have quite a few problems such as a really bad campaign which has a boring, clichéd story and is filled with bad AI and cheap deaths. REALLY cheap. Lots of the time I could be with a lot of other soldiers, yet as soon as I pop out of cover half of the enemies start attacking me. For a game that tries to be realistic, it isn't. Enemies seeing you as soon as you pop up, even if they're focused on another person, quicktime events and not that much destruction, the campaign is not worth the price of this great game. No, the reason to get this game is the fantastic, addictive multiplayer. This isn't like Call of Duty. You have to work as a team and support them. And there are a lot more ways to get points. Healing your team/squad, reviving your team/squad, resupplying your team/squad, arming and destroying the objective in Rush, neutralizing and capturing the flag in Conquest, assisting with the neutralizing or capturing of the flag, having a squad mate spawn on you, assisting in a kill, assisting in a suppression kill, and of course killing an enemy. I probably didn't even name every way to get XP in this game. There are a ton of weapons in this game, and choosing classes makes the game incredibly balanced. In assault you have the ability to revive other players and heal them and yourself with a medkit, whereas other classes don't. In engineer you have access to the launchers, so you can easily blow up buildings, vehicles etc. with ease. In support you can resupply other players and yourself with ammo and in recon you have access to the spawn beacon which lets you place another spawn point so you can spawn exactly where you want. There are always advantages and disadvantages to each class which makes the game a joy to play. I do have a few problems with the multiplayer. You don't get much of a chance to drive or pilot many of the vehicles in the campaign, and the manual is absolutely terrible not giving you any help on the vehicle controls, which can be frustrating when you are trying to pilot a plane for the first time. My other problem is that this game is two camper friendly. I was playing conquest on Gulf of Oman and when I tried to capture the construction site flag, I was killed by a sniper all the way up in the crane. I eventually got my sweet, sweet revenge by climbing the flag and killing that guy, and at the same time I took his camping spot just to annoy him. I really wish that grenades would have a greater impact, because I could easily destroy a camping spot with a grenade, and there needs to be more destruction. Other than that the multiplayer is fantastic. The sound is incredible and really immerses you even more. You'll here every bullet whizzing by you at lightning speed and it just amps up the tension in a multiplayer game. The graphics are also incredible and are incredibly detailed and realistic. This is one of the few games that looks as good as it does in single player as it does in multiplayer. Overall Battlefield 3 is a great game. There are some problems, the campaign, camping in multiplayer, the basically useless manual, and the fact that there is no help on how to use the vehicles. I still can't fly a jet. But the good certainly outweighs the bad and Battlefield 3 simply has some of the best multiplayer in a video game. Expand

Battlefield 3 was my favorite first person shooter of 2011. The multiplayer is the best around, with huge maps, even in the PS3 version. The campaign is really good, better than any Call of Duty campaign. The skydiving scene was awesome. The co-op was also good, but not as good the campaign or multiplayer. Battlefield 3 is the ultimate tactical first person shooter, but it isn't free from numerous issues. There is no way to exit a game in between matches, there is no way to mute people, and the VOIP is really spotty (supposed to be fixed the latest patch). The single player campaign is also uninspired and feels like it was influenced by Black Ops's story. The single player campaign is also uninspired and feels like it was influenced by Black Ops's story. I give this game a 9 for 1 reason. Its amazing multiplayer. The maps are numerous and absolutely huge. Most of the maps have a layout that works well for all play styles with a couple of exceptions. Operation Metro on conquest isn't balanced. The team that spawns outside of the metro almost always wins. The team that spawns in the metro gets stuck at multiple choke points where the only option is to bumrush up stairs and escalators and hope that they can get a foothold. Anyway, there are a TON of weapons and a TON of attachments. The kit customization is ridiculously awesome. The vehicles in the control well, and the helicopter and the jets take some training to fly but the payoff is worth it. I'll conclude this review with my most important point. I'm a huge PS3 fanboy and I love consoles. But if you have a computer that can handle this game, GET IT FOR PC! The game runs pretty slow and the graphics don't look that great on PS3; the graphics look even worse if you play on 360 and don't do the install. BUY THE PC VERSION IF YOUR COMPUTER CAN HANDLE IT! One of Battlefields most impressive features is the sound effects within the games of the guns as well as incoming bullets and vehicles. The online experience is by far Battlefields best feature with the intense game modes such as rush and conquest making returns. It is a real mans game while COD seems to be for the little kids. Battlefield had some trash talking going on with the Infinity Ward studio and Activision before the release of the two games and while Battlefield backed it up, Call of Duty stumbled. I am very happy with my purchase. Yes, the campaign is mediocre, but the multiplayer more than makes up for it. Having only played Black Ops before, I was astounded by the destruction and vehicles that are found on the battlefield. There is little that is more fun than shooting a rocket into a second story wall, causing it to crumble down on top of the foes hiding at the base. The maps are much larger than maps that are in Call of Duty, and although you can spawn on squadmates, often times it will take time to get back to the fight after being killed. I don't mind this, but I can imagine that many people who are used to the quick trigger reflexes of COD will dislike the waiting. Battlefield 3 plays slower, but is no less intense. Several of the maps are designed specifically for infantry play, and these foster some incredibly fun moments.

Overall, I find Battlefield 3 to be a great game for it's multiplayer. Don't buy it for the singleplayer, but it's a good game nonetheless.

I feel the maps affect your play style, for example maps like metro will put your CQC to the test, shotties & SMG's can rule the battlefield; the battle centers in the tunnel while a team can be pushed outside to the buildings outside of the train station, the other can be pushed furthe in. Other maps will require you to learn how to use a Heli, Jets, Tanks and transport. Bullet drop makes sniping rewarding when you have determine distance & timing. Unlike COD, shooting and getting those hit ratios or headshots at long distances requires actual practice. This game requires actual teamwork for you to get an upperhand in matches, battles are some of the most intese I have experienced in any shooter up to date. Tons of unlockables, huge maps & a good selection of vehicles to choose from (when players are not spawn camping vehicles). Co-op & single player campaign: Co-op I would only recommend for unlocking certain weapons (or just pay for them on the PSN store & save time) & sp campaign is nowhere near as good as BC's.... not even worth mentioning.... it's that bad. Pros:
    -Maps are huge.
-Tons of unlockables (dogtags, weapons, attatchments, vehicle abilities & camo).
    -Intense squad based battles.
    -Graphic look beautiful.
    -Vehicles (finally jets on consoles)
-DLC support is great (introducing new vehicles & weapons).

    Cons: -VoIP Chat is buggy
-Vehicle Dominance is a big thing... one great chopper pilot can destroy a whole team, this is rare but it happens & when it does it's bad news even when you are on the winning team. There's a term for these type of situation but it's not appropriate for me to use the phrase in my review lol... Base*****.
-Hit detection can be buggy at times too.

So that is why I give it a 9 out of 10. Suggestions I have would be to improve VoIP chat on the next installmen & give the next entry more Beta testing time in order to avoid bugs because when we purchased at launch we ended up with a few game breaking bugs.
That's it for my BF3 review on PS3.

Also the co-op is really nothing special, just a bland co-op mode. the multiplayer is the thing that makes Battlefield stand on its own two feet Expand

Battlefield is half phenomenal, half mediocre and forgettable. The first thing you will notice immediately is the graphical intensity. BF3 is a stunning game when you play in full HD. The first thing you will notice immediately is the graphical intensity. BF3 is a stunning game when you play in full HD. The way the game plays is a step away from most fps games as well. If you're near an explosion, not only will you receive the run-of-the-mill ringing noise, but your vision will blur, and you will actually become disoriented, instead of just a white flash and a ring. This realism extends to every aspect of the game, from tanks' shells causing large explosions as well as a large kick-up of dirt, obscuring sight. Guns all sound nice and beefy, and will dynamically change depending on your location, being muffled if you are far away or behind a barrier (an excellent touch). Oh, and I forgot to mention, LENS FLARE EVERYWHERE!!
Campaign mode, however, is dull, filled with a decent story idea, but characters don't intrigue the player, and there are so many russian stereotypes that you might have a slight accent by the end, if you decide to play all the way to the end. Mission design is also uncreative and boring, doing nothing to keep you hooked. You can save your time and skip it.It won't prepare you for the lunacy that is the multiplayer mode.
Multiplayer is where BF3 really shines. Maps are massive, partially destructible, and the game modes rush and conquest utilize the size almost all the time (with the exception of a few conquest maps shrunk down due to the maps linear nature). Rush is where I found myself spending most of my time, with conquest in a close second. They're definitely the two most entertaining game modes. There are four classes in BF3, each with its own benefits. I played almost always as the assault class (all around/medic). The three others are: the engineer (vehicle repair/destroying, due to the ability to carry a massive rocket launcher), Support (all around, resupplying teammates, can also destroy vehicles with C4), and Recon (sniper, stealth, also can plant spawn beacons behind enemy lines so teammates can surround the enemy). The four classes work well when you have a full team that understands their roles, and executes them. This, unfortunately, is not always the case. The team that communicates better will win nine out of ten times in my experiences. Each class has its own chain of unlocks as you level up, as well as unlocking more upgrades for each weapon as you use it. You will also receive different camouflage patterns when your overall level increases. It is a smartly designed system that rewards you the more you play, but it will make trying new things less interesting after you have achieved a high level with a certain class/weapon.
Although there is only a 24 player max, this number of players works well on the smaller maps (operation metro is a particular favorite of mine). The larger maps tend to be dominated by vehicles usually. The ability to spawn on squad members is a great feature that really enhances team play. Also, for performing certain tasks in battle, you will receive ribbons for your achievements, worth 200 xp each. After you have accumulated a certain number of a particular ribbon, you will receive a medal, worth a massive amount of xp. This, accompanied by the dog tag system, make for even more depth in the multiplayer. Your player wears 2 dog tags, standard at first, but they become more personalized as you progress. You can take opponents' tags with a stealth knife kill, and you can view your collection in the menu, however the interface for this is rather poor. Small gripes of the multiplayer include the lack of tutorials for flying jets and/or helicopters, both of which are extremely intimidating to beginners, as well as your soldier's inability to walk over two centimeter high concrete slabs that remain after tanks have destroyed the building.
Battlefield 3 excels in multiplayer, but is lacking in a solid campaign mode, overall completely worth your money, as it is the premier shooter on consoles in my mind.

I love the Battlefield franchise as this game was great. You had a great story that kept you into it the whole time. And now the only reason I gave it a 9 was because of the ending. No spoilers but I think it was really rushed but the multiplayer and rest of the story makes up for it. The multiplayer is what really makes BF3, BF3. So you got yourself a good game if you got BF3.

I can't stand this game's singleplayer campaign. However, the multiplayer is amazing. It's as simple as that. But if you have the option to get this on PC, by all means, go for it. On PS3 the max player count is 24 compared to the 64 on PC, which is definitely better given the sheer size of the maps in this game. It is still a great game on PS3 though.

The multiplayer is amazing with a lot of maps and guns and stuff to use. I liked this game so much that I actually bought the BF Premium, which gave me instant access to all the DLC's. And that money was well spent. BF3 was a multiplayer game where you could spend time enormously. Battlefield 3 just had the right feels. It is my favorite Battlefield game ever made.

BF3 has taken a major down turn in this area . the story mode pretty much just sucks . you pretty much just live through flash backs of the main character as he tells his story to two guys .the story mode almost feels like its trying to be more like COD MW ... dull , boring and void of fun . the bright spot is the online mode . if you liked BF1 and 2 online you will have no problem getting into BF3 . its a very team based . the maps are huge and look great and are alot of fun . people like to complain this is such a massive Camping game . well its focus is on realism , sorry to disappoint you but the military soldiers dont run out all over the place and shoot like a bunch of morons . if you want to run around like a chicken with your head cut off shooting every thing that moves go play COD. down sides of the online would be that when you first start the game you feel way under powered compared to higher level players . which feels like BS and probubly wouldnt be a major issue if you didnt level up so damn slow. over all though the online is alot of fun . I just want to play COD and this makes me happy, Anyways, my review is solely based on multi player. I do not really care about single player campaign. I bought BF3 for multiplayer only and i would be happy not to see single player at all if it meant additional multiplayer maps in the game. BF3 is certainly the best BF version on consoles to date. Graphics are solid but animations feel like taken straight from Bad Company 2. Overall not as good as one would expect from watching all advertising material from EA but still the best on consoles to date. There is bunch of small changes, tweaks that I like in BF3. Addition of prone position into the game is a big bonus in my mind. Overall I find multi player game play better then in previous BF on consoles. I like urban setting of some maps. Smaller maps offer tight space and fierce fighting with 24 players. Truly tons of fun. However 24 players on some larger maps just feels not enough. Battlefield 3 is not great departure from previous BF games but it is non the less the best BF on the consoles to date. I hope EA and Dice will not make the same mistake that it did with BC2, namely releasing "new maps" which are the same maps already released with new game modes. This was a huge turn off for me. I am willing to pay $$ for truly new maps, with new settings and graphics. New map packs made me happy for months with COD and this is the reason why i got rid off BC2 but still have Black Ops. I also hope that EA will not charge $15 per map pack like Activision because this is seriously too much money for a game add on. I highly recommend for you to pick up BF3. My final score is 8 out of 10 because BF3 for PC is the superior version of the game and that version deserves 10 out of 10. PS3 version is 8 out 10 for me. Expand

Anyone who was dissapointed by Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer should and most likely will have bought this game as a substitute. Though the co-op is much shorter, less varied and lacking in leaderboards (not to mention that you can't play it on your own or even on splitscreen); the multiplayer is what most people are interested in - it's a Battlefield game after all. As a CoD substitute,Anyone who was dissapointed by Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer should and most likely will have bought this game as a substitute. Though the co-op is much shorter, less varied and lacking in leaderboards (not to mention that you can't play it on your own or even on splitscreen); the multiplayer is what most people are interested in - it's a Battlefield game after all. As a CoD substitute, Battlefield 3 is a pleasant change due to the different classes, attachments which have a point and the wide variety of map/mode combination to accomodate for different playstyles. Everything from Noshahr Canals TDM to Caspian Border CQ, whether you want infantry-only CoD style games, infantry objective like on Operation Metro, ground vehicles only like in Grand Bazaar and Seine Crossing or all out vehicle maps with jets and large landscapes, this game can give you it. The progression, ranking and unlocks is far superior to Call of Duty's and this is a much more satisfying game to play too. Given how every button on the controller is used (infact there's not enough room for some things such as squad commands and mini-map zoom) it would be easy to expect the controls to be clunky and unresponsive as on Bad Company. In reality, this game has the smoothest controls for any console FPS, with a wide range of sensitivity options and a button layout which may not be ideal but the best compromise for a controller and could not be improved in any way to make it more ergonomically comfortable to use. The only criticisms which can be directed to the console version of this game are almost entirely from a technical persepctive. The 24 player limit means larger maps are much less fun and not as much action as you'd like, making TDM more viable or at least smaller, city maps for conquest and rush modes. Field of View is far too low on smaller maps, making it difficult to see enemies right next to you. The graphics, though they still demolish MW3's IW 5.0 (which is pretty much the same as MW2's) are not as spectacular as the PC version, though this is not the game's fault and more the lazy duopoly of the hardcore console market who still haven't updated their console's hardware. Remarkably though, Battlefield 3 still is a great looking game and very much playable at 30 FPS even on the lowest possible settings and 1280x704 resolution, whereas on PC anything below 40 FPS seems unplayable. One of the biggest advantages of Battlefield 3 (aside from the fact that it takes skill, has no killstreaks and actually has recoil and suppression and tactics involved) is that it has dedicated servers, and console players are able to rent their own servers. The result is completely lag-free multiplayer - something which Call of Duty has been lacking since, well, ever. Joining a friend is quick and easy, and battlelog integration is seemless both online, on console and bf3stats.com. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes less arcade-style and more realistic shooters. However, if you want the ultimate Battlefield 3 experience get a PC that can run the game on High and play on 32+ player servers. Expand

ForOk, so this is my first time with a Battlefield Game (even though I've played every CoD since the very first - and yes, I hate Black Ops) and I gotta say I'm surprised at some of the really really bad reviews. The campaign is fairly solid. I mean the story is nonesense (isn't it always with these games?) but that doesn't detract too much from a lot of the good things the games does. For a start it does look stunning. All the PC fanboys will moan that, against their high powered rigs, it doesn't compare but on console there few better looking games (think Crysis 2 calibre). It's all about the lighting; it gives the whole campaign atmosphere and tension and the sheer scale will leave you on occasion just looking round and taking it all in. The missions are varied so there's plenty to keep you guessing and it all seems a little more like you're involved in a military operation (rather than Modern Warfare's one man army scenario). But there are bugs. Some seriously, annoying bugs. First off, the enemy AI is fairly useless. They'll run around on predefined animation sequences and rarely seem to react to what's ACTUALLY happening. Second, they only seem to shoot at you, not your squad. In one level I tested this by hiding out of sight and watching my squad member (who was stood out in the open). Not only did he not get shot (even though bullets were raining down on the wall behind which I was hiding) he didn't fire at the enemy. At all. They also know where you are no matter how covertly you crawl behind cover. In a game that looks so stunning daft things like this stick out very quickly. Alot has also been made about the fact that MW3 runs at a solid 60fps and BF3 (sadly) doesn't. This is particularly obvious when you're watching vehicles - the animation on occasion almost seems stuttered. Personally I didn't enjoy the sniper moments - it felt too arcadey and non responsive. Add to that the fact that some enemies cannot be shot mid way through an animation (eg. climbing a wall, opening a door, exiting a car) and it can really get annoying. But, it is challenging, different and (bugs aside) enjoyable. Multiplayer is excellent. Far fewer bugs (clearly this is a multiplayer game and shouldn't be purchased for the campaign - rent for the single player, essential purchase for multiplayer) and again, the lighting is spectacular. Now, being a MW fan, I'm used to things being accessible and (dare I say it) easy to master. BF3 multiplayer, from the moment you pick it up, is a beast that demands time to master. This isn't a 'I've got 30 minutes while the missus is away, lets bosh on some free for all and rack up 100 kills' experience. This feels more like a 'battle' in comparison to MW's 'fight'. It's on a far grander scale and teases you with so many different opportunities (take a jet, take a chopper, take an APC, etc). I guess that's an achilles heel to a certain degree; as a novice you're thrown in with endless choices against (mostly - at least it was for me) guys that are pretty damn good! It's easy to get intimidated by the fact that the jets are tough to control and the fact that it can take a few minutes of wandering round a vast map before you see someone only to get shot immediately. That's the crux of why MW sells; it's a pick up and play fight to the death. BF is an art that needs to be learnt and, unfortunately, it doesn't teach (a tutorial, a 'me versus bots mode' or even a 'practice zone' for the vehicles - especially the jets - would be great). BF3 is what it is; tough, uncompromising and damn frustrating but the rewards for mastering it are unparalelled. It's just gonna take hours of frustration to get there. CAMPAIGN - 7/10 (good but buggy), MULTIPLAYER - 9/10 (great but tries too hard to be inaccessible). OVERALL - 8/10. Expand

why can't i play with my brother by one PS3?and too much bugs in the story mode.Sometimes it save game after you are killed.than dead and dead again until you restart whole mission.Or you can not move after climb the stair.

I dont get all the bad review of this game. Probably because it has glitches in MP, yes these glitches are a pain but they will be fixed.

Ok to the point, the sp is short but does the job, action everywhere and the vehicule part is awesome. Control is the big problem, they feel weird, its really hard to get used to them. I played for like 12 hrs so far but in a situation where i need to

I played for like 12 hrs so far but in a situation where i need to react real quick (mp) the control is an obstacle.

But overall the MP is a ton of fun, hundreds of unlock to keep the game fresh and Frostbite 2 in a master piece.

Verdict: must buy, but if you are scared of glitches, wait a few weeks till they patch everything then hump in one of the best FPS ever

The only thing holding this game back is the hardware it's being played on. The single player campaign is lack luster, but who goes out and buys this game for the single player campaign anyway!

Overall great game, graphics are pretty good considering the scope of everything. I think it's pretty amazing they can create a world for a FPS to play in that is so large, and yet the graphics are as good as they are on the current crop of ageing consoles. There are some minor faults in the game, it's not perfect at all, but it brings a level of game play that wasn't seen previously on the market. the Call of Duty franchise is awesome, but it's becoming long in the tooth and nothing shows it more then playing the new MW3 and BF3 back to back. WM3 plays just like the previous versions, it looks the same, game play is basically the same, nothing really changes, which isn't a bad thing, it just isn't good enough. While BF3 isn't perfect it makes a giant leap in graphics and game play, not to mention the scope of everything in the game. The game is HUGE compared to the other FPS out there, and that's what sets this a part from the other guys. WM3 plays like an action game, while BF3 plays like a much more serious grown up version of WM3 that rewards team work, and yet still allows you to be Rambo at the same time.

Battlefield 3 is one of the most realistic games ever made. A must buy for any FPS fan. Bad company 2 was a really great game, but this is just even better. A must buy.

Compared to Modern Warfare, Battlefield 3's multiplayer is somewhat slower but can build some tense moments when your team is struggling for an objective to receive more tickets. The classic Battlefield classes are back, which creates more of a team emphasized multiplayer experience and it is not irregular to have a teammate heal you, offer you ammo, or repair your vehicle as there is a point incentive to do so. Vehicles make getting around the large maps easier and enhance the overall experience as jets scream by overhead and tanks roar past you as you try to capture an objective. Although the vehicles provide a unique experience, they also seem to deter the attention of some players as to what the real objectives are. There are two ways in which Dice tries to reduce camping one is a kill cam, and the other, a red triangle that appears above any enemy player who fires their weapon or is spotted by another teammate. Regardless though, due to the large maps, it is inevitable and is an effective skill to be honed. Perks are generally not too overpowering. Overall the multiplayer pace is slower than Modern Warfare's and is less arcade-esc but I am learning this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Due to the slow nature it gives me time to appreciate the details, the pluses and minuses of every weapon. For example when I was sniping from a good distance, I used a faster semi-auto rifle and the accuracy was worse and the bullet drop was greater than when I used the bolt action rifle(keep in mind this is not the case with all the rifles). This usually does not occur in faster paced multiplayer games. Battlefield 3 also endorses more team based play. Giving you points to help your fellow teammates and allowing you to spawn on squad members. This game is great and I do suggest it if you are sick of the same old same old first person shooter. So wanted this to be a 10/10 game, but not quite there. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are astounding. The story in the campaign, though, leaves alot to be desired. Very dull and bland. Everything feels smooth, intuitive and easy, from bringing up your barrel to aim down the sites to running and jumping through windows (there is some small glitchiness with getting stuck on little things, but it's really not a big a deal). The maps are varied and stunning. The weapons all seem balanced once you level up a couple of times. And best of all, there is little lag and inaccuracy in the hit markers (which is what killed COD for me, Black Ops is literally one of the worst FPS I've ever played). There are a couple of qualms with the MP, though. The inability to cook grenades is annoying, although I can understand the reasoning behind it. The loadouts lack a bit in the customization department. And the menus are a bit counter intuitive (really, I can't just easily jump out of a game at the load screen?). These slight problems, and the lackluster campaign mode, knock it down a bit, but it's still the best FPS I've played in years, and quite possibly the best game I've played in a couple of years as well. Lets begin by saying BFBC2 was the 1st BF game I played. I've always played COD. With that said the single player is short and imho just annoying. But that's not why we bought the game did we? Also this game opened the flood gates with the different camos proving you don't have to be the same to play, which hopefully leads to full customization in future installments. Good game. Expand

Hopefully EA reconsiders its approach to toppling Call Of Duty in the future, and allows its games to develop their own personality, rather than imitate something else.

The nine multiplayer maps seem to be designed specifically to let players come up with their own creative strategies. Compared to COD, this gives the player a real sense of freedom. There is no such thing as a perfect strategy or a trotten path. [December 2011, p.74]
