Best expansion I've played. Dreanor is beautiful, the story lines are interesting and the new features are fun and very cool.

The servers and queues are going to get better, but the game is already great.

The game had a rough start, but it wasn't all an issue with the game. This expansion has revived my dwindling love for Warcraft. It is nothing short of amazing. The lore and storyline are amazing. They simplified the ability structure, but in no way the content. The game is amazing.

I really like the way Blizzard is going with this game. They've really eyeballed the prize here with the removal of flight, the demonetization of tradeskills to kill farming bots and the addition of some good old forced perspective questlines. There's moving over to a questgiver only to see her blown up by artillery fire, the only reminder a small pair of smoking boots that, upon clicked, give a cool little reward. Neat.

    Graphics: 9/10.
This is a ten year old game, yet the engine is holding up remarkably well. Historically, wow has always been a very CPU intensive game. With the latest patch, the load has been switched to the GPU giving better load times, smoother graphics and crisp textures. Player models were recently updated, meaning that your character no longer shares a polygon count with Grumby.

    Gameplay: 8/10
Flight has always been a major factor in the disappearance of player interaction. Existing since BC, players could simply hop on their flying mounts and escape whatever the game or other players could throw at them. In Draenor, player controlled flying mounts are no more. World PVP is at an all time high. General chat is filled with players **** about enemies and forming groups to take down said enemies. The tears are sweet enough for even the pope to lick his lips and salivate.

    Story: 10/10.
WoW's storyline has improved dramatically with Warlords of Draenor. No longer does it resemble something of a joke - there are actually some pretty twisty game of thrones moments now. Characters that were often thought of as "mary-sue"s are meeting gruesome ends left and right. Warlords of Draenor is a massive departure from "Panda fairy land".

Going to Draenor was an absolute blast, although I am only level 97, i have already spent about 48 in game hours doing so, you might think that's a shockingly large amount of time to spend for only 7 hours, but there's just so much to do. When I first stormed the Dark Portal I thought to myself "This is the most epic thing WoW has ever put together" It was fast paced and explosive, all the Warlords introductions were satisfying and terrifying, as soon as I went through the portal, I completely forgot I even existed outside of the game, the immersion level was absolutely stellar.
I spent hours upon hours in my Garrison, experimenting with buildings , giving my followers jobs, collecting materials, going on scouting missions, It was such a blast and its so well implemented, every follower you get will have a rarity much like WoW's in game loot, so two players must have the same follower but 1 of them might be better, adds a little flavor.
The storyline in this expansion is the ABSOLUTE best, wow, the in game cutscenes and storytelling were top notch, plenty of new characters you are introduced too, and I was brought to tears a couple of times during my questing experience. The storytelling is absolutely on par with bioware's greatest moments this expansion, the Battle for Shattrath was heartwrenching and epic, I watched the cinematic about 40 times after I beat it.
WoD is absolutely loaded with treasure, Ill give you an example, while walking around in Spires of Arak, I found a "Shadow Elixir" I didn't think much of it, but later on I found a shrine that appeared on my mini map, I sat there unknowing what to do, till I glanced at my elixir. I drank it and I phased out into an alternate shadowy universe where I found a Polearm imbedded in the ground, I right clicked on it, and was rewarded with an amazing epic 2 handed polearm, it was cool to accidentally stumble across something like that, Rather than spending weeks farming.
So far this has been my favorite expansion, I am soaking everything in and taking my sweet time getting to level 100,

WoD raises the bar for MMO storytelling while fixing many of the criticism WoW has faced in the past, the updated character models and graphics provide a deeper immersive experience.

In general the game is doomed to be impossible to be played properly without investing on it most of your life, otherwise, it's best to not play it at all.

Fans of the game will usually tell you "then don't play that part of the game". Or "that's your opinion". But the problem is they don't don't realize that this is exactly the answer to what they are saying: "Yep, that's why I don't play it, because I find it a 0/10".

All in all this deserves a 0/10, because I would do a disservice to you promoting it to you. You do not want to find this game fulfilling. The only way you find this game fulfilling is if you have much time other than free time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Now that the servers are in "okay" state i can write an review. While writing this i've done most of the content in terms of exping and i'm still wondering. When does it start?

The pre leveling zone is amazing, you see gul'dan, meet the bad guys and over all have a epic time in terms of story telling. Then this game get's RKO'd to ground..

Outside several small chains this game offers nothing in terms of storytelling. I mean one of the key points in Warcraft history is when orc corruption/invasion is about to happen and you don't meet iron horde until first raid instance?

Draenor for me is just boring. Grommash Hellscream the mighty warrior was seen once during this time. This is the same warrior who in Warcraft 3 got tired of waiting and charged enemies, slaughtered everyone...Now hes afk and just taunted us when we destroyed hes portal.

    Blizzard service quality : Bad
Pre 100 content quality: Very bad

This is fifth expansion which is something i'm still trying to wrap my head around.

I dont so much like the professions thats really the only down fall to this expansion. Leveling them is even more tedious than before which is why i gave it a 9 out 10. I also wanna say the 10 levels that you grind out from 90 to 100 are truely enjoyable and never gets boring they story and cut scenes makes it actually go pretty fast. im already on my 3rd character im grinding to 100 and im still enjoying it unlike pandarea which was grueling for the first character and i gave up after my second. So everyone that is reading this that hated the last 2 expansions and are not fanboy coolaid drinkers and want to know if they should try it out take it from me that it well worth the time and money and wow has been revived from this fresh new expansion and all its new elements it brings to the table. =) Hope this review helps! Also for all the "quality of life" adjustments they made to the game coming this expansion, they introduced a whole bunch of other needs of "quality of life" adjustments (you think they would have learned some things to apply!).

The environments are pretty nice, although maybe too generic and not so memorable. I find the story very convoluted: It starts pretty cool, and it keeps up a bit with some cool and emotional in-game cinematics, but quickly after the game descends into a load of filler content with various stories that you don't remember and just confuse you and make you wonder what the original story was and what they heck you are doing in this expansion. Still have quest givers /yelling quest information that comes out as spoilers because everyone (including people doing the same quest at different stages) can hear it, although that is not too common

I didnt really do any pvp, but the world pvp zone has multiple hour queues in general so I don't even bother. To make it worse the queues don't even have an ETA, nor a number showing what place you are in the queue.

there is this new thing called a garrison, kind of neat. I like how you are like the main focus character in the story of this expansion--you are a commander with people deferring to you. the garrison has a new thing that is like a mobile game, but its pretty easy and kinda fun

no major bugs ive really experienced, but lots of small ones that seem to be chilling for awhile

Blizzard didn't prepare servers so they lowered population cap on all of them, so you could see anywhere from 1 hour to over 12 hour queue times just to login. Very poor and shoddy thing for a company to do to a game they charge you to play monthly. I would expect that kind of server crapness from free to play, but a game they are making millions a month on, shouldn't be like that. In what other game do you pay four months subscription to skip content and get to the current game (as the path to level cap is so long and un-populated)? Not since Diablo's pay-to-use-AH has there been such a shameless grab for cash. With each expansion the game contracts, both in game mechanics and in the amount of content that is played. 1/10 for the memories.

Garrisons feel really bland and not at all suited to the MMO genre. Click a button --> start work order/follower quest --> come back hours later. Very little combat, or interactive/active gameplay. It is probably less engaging than Farmvillle. As somebody who just loves playing a caster/ranged class, the balance here has been quite poor. Especially in PvP. Part of the goal of class changes to casters in WoD was to reduce caster mobility so that they were not always better than melee. The issue is that casters/ranged classes currently do not out-damage melee on fights that are movement-free.

Since melee mobility/gap closers are something that has been planned into the game and not tampered with, melee damage is fairly consistent between low and high movement fights. In fact, melee often has to do the least movement in many fights to begin with. Often they are given a pass on mechanics for most fights and required only to try to position themselves somewhere other than in front of the boss and then can stay there or move with it while still attacking.

Because of this, it is very important that ranged/caster classes output a higher damage in a motionless fight, because realistically, none of the fights or content that Blizzard designs anymore is movement free for a caster. They continue to increase movement requirements each expansion. Not allowing casters to move without suffering a DPS loss means that they will always suffer a DPS loss from their maximum DPS in a game with mechanics designed primarily around making ranged players move properly and in a well-timed fashion. If you want to penalize casters for moving, then they really need to have a "hard-hitting, but limited by their immobility" sort of playstyle (even though this is a turret-style of gameplay that some people, like myself, who enjoy playing casters find dull). You cannot have them be "hit about as hard as everyone else, and are also limited by movement more than others" style of gameplay without balance suffering.

Currently it looks like spellcasters will be necessary in raids/PvP for their specific buffs/utilities, and a few specific mechanisms (like a boss in highmaul requiring magic damage to be taken to break a shield). This is gimicky and not satisfying. Nobody says "Wow, it's such crazy good fun to give everyone that +stamina buff!! that I click once and never think about again until somebody says 'stam plz.'"

WoD also seems to be shifting towards are more "hardcore" playstyle. This is cool, and I enjoy it, but I think it is a mistake. Expanding hardcore gameplay is great, but this should come at absolutely 0 expense to casual gameplay. Most people in the world can be considered casual gamers and will never have the time to devote to hardcore gameplay. My boyfriend for instance, wakes up at 6 to eat, get ready for work, shower, commute to work, etc by 9, gets back at 7, has dinner, and has a few hours each night (~3) before needing to go to bed again. He could never play a game like WoW hardcore without really unhealthy concessions in his personal life, and WoW'S rampant "omg this game has so many baddies and casuals and caters to casuals and baddies omg" fanboys that speak loud that this is an approach the development team keeps trying to take. It did not work well in Cataclysm, and it will not work here. I expect a few million of the ~3 million people who joined again this month to be gone before the final raid boss of the expac goes down.

(I have a good rig), the zones just feel more of the same, the dungeons, way to easy, the game itself way to easy. The garrisons are the best part of this expansion, but even still, they just feel like a beefed up farm from MoP, if I want to build my own "garrison", I'll go play something like Banished. To be fair the gameplay is fluid, just what you would expect from WoW, but still that is not enough to keep me as a subscriber. Expand

The population is in decline for a reason. I spent 5 days trying to find one redeemable quality. There is literally not one interesting item I can remark on. Failures are poor crafting system, uninteresting dungeon encounters(you literally just want to get through it to get the xp or loot might as well get a second job), afk bots galore in PvP, unbalanced PvP, unimaginative garrison addition, ugly icons and quests for lackluster pet battles, bloated unmanageable economy, supposedly "streamlined" classes making them all depressing to play. There is more, god is there more bad. I wonder where all the talented people went that use to work for this company? Probably to other companies that are run better than this one is now. Expand

Here's the thing: There's nothing new to do in this expansion if you're below level 90. Everyone who buys this expansion gets a free level 90. And while you or I may think "1 + 1 = time 2 work on server stability in starter zones," we are definitely not Blizzard employees. There's a lot TO do past level 90, but between server restarts, massive queues if you aren't lucky enough to be on a low-pop server, and phasing issues / constant lag when you're able to play / competing with people for quest spawns to a degree I haven't seen since Vanilla, good luck getting to all that sweet content you paid for.

This isn't a game. This is Progress Quest: Queue Edition.

Overall. The characters I did want to play at launch was impossible, purely due to the server they are currently on. 5 hour waits in queue is just insanity. So I decided to play a toon I had on a low pop server. fortunately the wait time is only 20 minutes.

So actually playing the game if you can get on ( World server down ) pending. The quest line into Draenor is not that bad I suppose

So actually playing the game if you can get on ( World server down ) pending. The quest line into Draenor is not that bad I suppose how ever the bugs and glitches just took me out of the immersion. For example quest chains that break. Garrisons have been very fun edition and so forward liking them alot. Unfortunately again glitches and bugs kill the experience. For example, last night anyone heading into their own garrisons we all caught into a bug which pretty much froze us into the phase and was just a pure buggy mess

Mainly just technical issues are the main issue. This would be expected if it was any other MMO as this is quite common, but this is Blizzard we are talking about. They take 5x the time to polish games and yet they still drop the ball as if it was not expected. Which is quite dishearting. For how much they've low balled expansion after expansion with more wait between patches and less content each expansion.

However, with all the negativity aside, I am sure once all the smoke clears this game will be somewhat enjoyable. If its like the vanilla/BC/Wrath or even for some Cata ( I loved Cata) experience we all know and love , or the Mists sell out garbage that we might now come to expect from blizzard. Time will only tell.

Actually the hate Blizzard gets for this "launch" is all legit and to be honest they deserve a lot more. It's not like it comes like a surprise everytime. They KNOW the servers can't handle it. They KNOW it will cause DCs/crashes/errors. They KNOW they can fix it BUT it costs them money to do so and they KNOW people have already paid for the game and probably a month playtime aswell. They've already earned enough to go + on the launch itself, that's why the don't give a single fu*k about what happens during it.

I also saw they've put the blame on DDoS attacks. Don't buy that sh*t. All that has happened is that they f*cked up and now they're trying to dodge a bullet by putting the blame on a DDoS attack. The evidence is easily faked. Like It's actually ridicoulus and they know that their, yet again, fail launch will give them bad reputation so they will come up with a public excuse like "we did nothing wrong, everything would've gone smooth if this DDoS attack never happened."

**** Don't believe their lies. Only way to get to them is if they're losing millions of subscribers maybe then we would get a decent launch. Until then, RIP.

A lot of effort has been put into forging the world to reward exploration, which is one of my favorite aspects. For example, treasures are hidden in visually inaccessible areas, and players are rewarded for finding the route to these seemingly unreachable places. Plenty of endgame content will also keep you occupied, whether you're raiding, doing dungeons or maintaining your garrison. Challenging Heroic Dungeons with the extra step of doing Challenge Mode means that you will have hours of enjoyment on end. The new and rebuilt character models look frankly amazing - each of their animations complimenting their new poly counts. Some unnecessary clutter from classes has been removed - but in my opinion this is a definite thumbs up as the classes are easier to learn but harder to master. So whether your new to MMO Gaming or a seasoned veteran this is definitely - at least in my opinion - the best WoW expansion ever made. Well done Blizzard!

RANT ALERT -You guys (at least the majority) are complete morons. In fact, you (life forms) are so simple I can split you into 2 stereotypes: those who give the game a 0 because there is lag on launch and those who give the game a 0 because it is too easy. Let's combat both of these irrelevant points, shall we? To begin with, even though the lag WAS bad you don't review a game based on it. That's like reviewing a movie badly because the tickets sold out before you could buy them. The lag wasn't great at all, but that does not detract from the actual quality of the expansion for the next 2 or so years of its existence. Secondly (and this is the point that annoys me the most) is people saying that this expansion is "too easy" or "dumbed down for five year old's". Wrong! Sure, some of the content like questing or finding treasures is easy enough for casual players, but try getting a Gold Challenge Mode medal and telling me that's easy on ANY of the dungeons. In fact, you saying the expansion is too easy is simply proving that you're bad at the game. You aren't good enough to try the harder content, so you only play normal dungeons or quest. "Oh, it's to easy"! Wrong. You're just too bad at the game. Please, don't be idiots when reviewing this expansion.

This review will be as objective as possible. Putting the expansion's launch issues aside, WoD is a decent game with both new and nostalgia-provoking content. Seems like WoW's philosophy has changed in recent years - from a story-driven, cooperative, and customizable experience to a more basic, and some would say, simplistic MMO. Now let's look at the breakdown:

    1. Graphics: 7/10 - new models and more detailed terrain. The art style is preserved, and zones and dungeons definitely look better. The graphics is not intended to look realistic at all.
    2. Gameplay: 6/10 - multiple spells and skills removed. Game is now more basic. Less customization and class uniqueness. However, some may appreciate this simplification.
    3. Story & Quests: 5/10 - story is engaging, but questline is very linear compared to previous expansions, where you were given numerous questing options and players can choose based on those options. Once a player levels to 100, he has experienced most of the leveling content.
    4. New Features & Community: 4/10 - relatively new features such as LFD and LFR, while convenient, have almost eliminated the need to communicate with other players. This allows more players access to dungeons and raids. However, considering this is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, WoW should encourage players to interact and cooperate, instead of the other way around. Thus, the community has, in my opinion, declined in terms of demeanor. In the past, >85% of players were polite and helpful, whereas now, it's around 40-50%. Compared to other online games, WoW's community is now average, and not excellent as before. With the introduction of garrisons and linear questlines with cutscenes, WoW has become more of a single player experience.
    5. Music: 7/10 - great compositions and fits context well.

Overall, a solid game, though with a totally different philosophy and a new direction.

If you enjoy beeing in a queue for 6 hours before playing, WoW and WoD is the game for you. After the long queue you'll get broken stuff, lag and a garrison that disconnects you so you can queue all over again.

Another cash grab milking a 10years old game. The only reason play this (or Heartstone) is just the name Blizzard, not the quality product. Blizzard made their fanbase with Starctaft1/Diablo1-2 and Warcraft 2-3. Then the team and vision changed completely for the worst and people are still like "omg Blizzard I love them".

This time however, i have to tip my hat to Blizzard...

The Garrison : It's AMAZING! Seriously, this feature is totally addicting and usefull! It's a game on it's own. Don't underestimate it's value!

The lore : Back to the roots... No more pandas... No more asian theme that doesn't really vibe with the WC universe. Finally i feel like we are back on the right track lore wise...

Graphics... A HUDGE improvement there. New character models/ More particles / Better textures. If you stopped playing wow because it looked two old this is the time to jump back in! Even the sound evects have been greatly improved!

End Game : So far we are still gearing up, but the difficulty level seems to be on par to what i expected. I wish it was a tidy bit more challenging, but so far it's an improvement over MoP for sure!

As for all the ZERO's.... **** please.... Even the worst expansion that was MoP didn't deserve a Zero score. Giving the game a Zero doesn't say that the game is bad (IMO a ZERO score game would be something like Ride to Hell).

By giving aZero you say two things :

    A) You are a troll

    B) You don't like the game

The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad. People Like Justin Bieber, does it make him a top class singer? No it doesn't.

If you're giving a Zero just to express that you hate Blizzard... Get the **** off this site. This isn't how you give a proper review!

Despite the launch issues, WoD feels like Blizzard's most ambitious expansion. The game successfully navigates away from rote questing, and moves towards actual, meaningful storytelling interwoven with non-quest encounters that keep the experience fresh. It feels more like an "open world game" than ever before, and I'm looking forward to progressing through the endgame content.

There is about 2 days of gameplay added, and other than that it is the same old stuff. That being said, the content is nice, and the atmosphere of WoD is pretty. Still, it is a bit expensive compared to better expansions like BC and even LK which is why I am giving it a 5. WoW is way past its prime.

I was unfortunate enough to assume that high level of quality would be maintained throughout the rest of the levelling experience. The zones slowly get more into the “classic” WoW feel where there’s less phasing, less progressive questlines, kill this, fetch that, collect x, deliver y.

The garrison was fun and I was drawn in. At first you’re placing buildings, it’s all new and exciting, you place a few work orders, dispatch your followers on quests, cool! By around 96 I wasn’t even bothering to do anything when I went back. The garrison for me was relegated to providing no more than a 20 minute hearthstone. By the time you have sufficient materials to make use of the garrison you’ve already outgrown anything it can offer. Granted, I don’t have a level 3 fortress yet, so this may change, but also maybe not.

Honestly not all I hoped, but I don’t have the answer as to how to make it better.

Leveling is fun again, the change in the XP curve means that it doesn't feel like a thankless grind, but it still certainly takes work. Other reviews claiming "90%" of people will be 100 in a day are laughable - plenty of people hit 100 over the weekend, myself included, but the vast majority of the playerbase is not 100 yet.
Questing is engaging, there are fewer quests in each zone but they have more story and are more rewarding, making it really feel like you're having an impact on the world. You can quest in each zone to completion without quests turning grey, and it really guides you through the world, showing it off (and it is gorgeous, worth showing off). Multiple rare spawns in each zone are a fun an interesting dynamic, and the random chance for an item to "upgrade" means that even quest greens can turn into worthwhile gear.
Garrisons are fun and engaging, and make you feel like you're a real part of the world. They give you things to do each day that make logging on fun, without giving you an endless slew of dailies.
All in all I absolutely recommend this to anyone... after the disappointment of MoP and the bigger disappointment of Cata, this feels like WoW again!

The Garrison system is refreshing for WOW, that I love sending some of friends out to do the dirty Work, and reward me with XP, gold etc.

the dungeons is cool, and the OST (Like always) is amazing, compressed)

The areas is a nice detailed. Reminds me of Outland but Better. ( I said it)
What I DO HATE with this expansion and pre-patch is lvlin is to easy now. You can hit start from lvl 1 to 30 in 2 hours.

But I really can't describe this expansion that much for you, I can't enter the World due to Lagg and Queue.
But what I tried, it feels fantastic.

I will wait some weeks and you are good to go to feel the freshness in this expansion

+Huge areas, lovely quests, Garrison is a nice touch, professions is fun, rare mobs everywhere to provide decent loots, dungeons is fun and detailed and the Soundtrack is better than all the others combined(not really, every Expansion have some favorite soundtracks and not so favorite)

-The long Queue, lagg everywhere you go, to easy lvlin.

Pick this up, when it's time! when the server have been fixed, Now I will go play some Halo remastered 1-4 on my Xbox one ^^

    You take care!

I've actually also laughed a bit at some of the quests, for example; there is a quest where you need to help a kid get his "women in underwear" calendar, it was so out of place and setting, making a comic situation. Garrisons give the whole game a new aspect, making crucial choices to your economy and progression depends on you figuring out the best plan for implementing upgrades and buildings.

PVP is better than ever at lvl 100, healers are not one man armies anymore and there has been made a lot of balancing changes for the better across the board.

PVE (as of now, only dungeons) is awesome. Dungeons in WoD are difficult on heroic mode, you really have to focus and do everything right. You can't just stand auto-attack as you did in MoP.

That was just was stroke my mind. I'm pissed as hell on Blizzard because of the terrible excuse of a launch. But the content itself is the best I've ever seen.

An added note. If you played WoW say...5 years back like me? This game has been de-epic'd to the max. The 1.5 hour instances are now 20 minutes. This change makes the game more playable for the casual, but very very low epic feel to it. you jump in an instance, kill a few pulls, and BAM blue drop from half-way easy boss.

My quarrel with Warlords of Draenor is that it does not define the direction for the whole game – it just refreshes it and sets it in order, which is what patches do. There’s not enough novelties and the changes (e.g. randomized loot) are hit and miss. [01/2015, p.52]
