They gave us long rep grinds without much reward, apexis crystal dailies, and some raids. The raids aren't bad. The dailies and campaigns are mediocre with some characters you want to have around forever such as Yrel.

The garrison was a great idea and giving people access to other professions was great, but they also made professions feel nearly worthless. The changes in itemization (Yay no hit or expertise) and class functions were certainly interesting and expected.

However, this expansion just did not deliver. They tried to justify the removal of flying and gave us crappy jumping puzzles. This is an mmorpg, not a platformer. They messed around with Ashran to the point where it wasn't really fun to go do since the rewards weren't there unless you really wanted that pvp set. I was hoping when they tacked an extra $20 on to the price of the expansion that there would be something worthwhile.

After completing everything up to the end of 6.2 HFC, I must say it was not worth it. I often find myself logging only to do garrison chores and raids. Other than that I find other mmorpg's or games in general that have the story and immersion that this expansion so greatly lacks. Even at the end of HFC everyone seems to forget how the expansion started as it was all glossed over with a few lines of happy feelings.

I'm sorry, Blizzard, but your players deserved better. In one year we have gone through three raids and lost three million players. Stop blaming players for not having your vision when it is the lack of immersion, inspiration, and story that have for so long drawn players to this game.

The one good thing I guess I can say is that the artwork and graphical content of this expansion was done very well.

10 million constant subscribers is what wow gained after the release of WoD, and for the good reasons too. But then all those people thought to themselves, alright, that was a hecka of a good expansion to play around in for 3 weeks, and left to play some other games while hoping blizzard makes an expansion similar to TBC, where not everything is handed you on a plate.

You can even buy GAMETIME throught 3 days of farming your garrison. Even though that's a good way to not pay for wow at all, it just proves how easy it is to earn gold in this game, it's doesn't bring the fun and the challenge you had back in the old days of WoW, and let's face it, it probably never will.

This is an average expansion which will keep the subscriber number from falling even lower, unlike MoP which was utter **** and even though it added some voice acting and a few more new raids it really didn't do anything to interesting to make this a good, or even a decent expansion. It's just average.

    Should you buy it?

If you plan to buy all your game time from in game money, then why the hell not. But this late in the expansions lifetime, you won't even find anyone to play with, so I'd rather suggest just waiting for the next expansion like all of the other old timers.

This is hands down one of the worst experiences with WoW and a terrible expansion.
Okay, let me start off with the pros, there are only a few.

-Draenor is a beautifully done continent, and they all feel unique and different in scope and scale, it's amazing what the art team can up with for an old engine based of the one from Warcraft 3.
-The sound design is amazing as well. The music score is well done as well, very good tracks and catchy tunes.
-The 90-100 leveling experience is amazing and all the quests are really good.

Alright, with those out of the way, let me talk about what was terrible.
The end game content is scarce and there is no variation. Dailies are made into apexis grinds, which are monotonous and boring. Dailies have always been kind of a mixed bag, but these take the cake in really being absolutely awful.
Two raid tiers, three raids, is unacceptable, Blizzard.
Also, after you've done the leveling once, there is little incentive to go back through it again, as there is no variation in the way, it's extremely linear, and going through with an alt is extremely tedious and you'll get sick of going through the 5 leveling zones a second time.
Tanaan Jungle is absolutely terrible and comprised of all the same crappy end game apexis dailies and boring rep grinds. Again, there is no variation.
The Garrison. It was promising at first, but it turned into a **** facebook simulator, with followers that do more content than you, the garrison campaign missions are boring as well, and the garrison invasions are completely dumb and also offer no variation with every type.
Getting materials is easy now and the AH is not a good place for mining and herbalism anymore. The daily CD on certain materials was also a terrible idea.
Not to mention the cut content for the garrison, it is honestly lost potential. Which is also the basis for the entire xpac, lost potential.
Ashran is garbage as well, PvP objectives are dumb and it's a less fun version of Wintergrasp without the vehicles, which might I add were also going to be included?
And then Faralhon was just cut from the xpac entirely, what the heck, Blizzard?
The dungeons are okay, but there is little reason to do them after one heroic run each.
There is so much smoke and mirrors, bring old dungeons forward is NOT content, Blizzard.
Not to mention the overall unprofessionalism of the dev team, dodging reasonable concerns and so much damage controlling, especially over adding good content, people complaining about the lack of said content, and confusing class nerfs that were unfounded.
This was overall just a very poor experience. It's not the worst thing ever, and it wasn't unplayable, but the amount of cut content and missed potential, as well as the behavior of the devs, I can't give it a higher score than 5/10.
Legion looks promising, and it seems like Blizzard is learning from their mistakes, so hopefully that will be amazing.

This expansion does indeed bring me very mixed feelings. At an initial glance the expansion offers a variety of enhancements to the old questing part of the game - that is, if you, like me, divides the game into two phases: the levelling and the end game.

    - The levelling part sure has improved from the previous expansion, MoP. More dramatic, more entertaining and slightly more challenging. The incentive to go exploring has increased with its rewards lurking in the shadows, hiding in the corners, or staring right into your inferior-geared toon. What they did to rare spawns intrigued me a bit: shared, yet only gives rewards the first time around. With treasures lying around and rares waiting to be slain, the advancement of your toon becomes a little less tedious. Come on, we all know the questing isn't why we play: it's the end game content.

    - Garrisons are a much necessary installation to world. If you want to have something to obsess about, your garrison is the way. It's a neatly contsructed addition that goes greatly along the questing and becomes the slight break from killing, looting, talking, and repeating that you may need. Albeit, if you have the slight tendency to obsess, Garrison-management can become quite the obstacle and hindrance in your progression. However, with the introduction and management of the Garrison comes a huge downside: your personal professions of choice. The fact that you can gather materials for crafting in your garrison, makes the farming-part of gatherers obsolete. Mining and herbalism has been reduced to mere means of getting additional resources beyond your garrison - which will not be necessary. Back when professions once had bonuses to offer, I chose to use blacksmithing and jewelcrafting, and have my warrior gather the raw materials for it. I liked the extra socket slots and better sockets in combination. That would've been awesome if they hadn't removed those bonuses. One upside is, my paladin is now self-sufficient. omnom?
This is a rather huge flaw in the game. Gathering was considered a great source of gold.. threw that one right out the window, eh.

Alright, so we have the questing and garrison part, including the crafting. Two huge intruments of stimuli for aggressive obsession and possibly great annoyance.

Let me move on to level 100.
    - Reaching that certain level was indeed the feeling of achievement. Or so I thought untill I noticed just how imprisoned it felt within the garrison. To unlock the remaining dungeons a certain item level was required - which I only expected from heroic dungeons. However, it became a chore to uptain the remaining item levels. It led to be one of the slowest starts on end game I have ever encountered in an expansion.. So two ways to uptain the itemlevels required for dungeons: crafting (which is very limited at the time) and clearing the last zone for items. A slow start for an endgame when the early part seemed so explosive and dynamic? Quite frankly a bit of a let down.

    - an upside to the endgame is the dungeons and heroics: they can prove to be quite a challenge! Boss fights employed with more imaginative and unique skills makes for great challenge and feeling of hard-earned rewards. That part they nailed. Mythic raiders have something to look forward to!

This expansion has brought a multitude of different impressions. As mentioned - for me they were mixed. Awe-inspiring, exlosive questing and cinematics, combined with challenge made it interesting to level again. The end game content, whilst slow at first, made up for it and rewarded me with great fun and sence of ingame accomplishment.

The uber downside of this expansion is the absolute reuse of content. Draenor is not unique, nor is the iron horde orcs. Blizzard pursued the success of Siege of Orgrimmar raid and created an expansion with reused material and a theme seen before. MoP and the Sha had a more unique sense to it.
After 10 levels, the orc race is rather dull. The amazing feeling the expansion brought quickly fades as the endgame is reached and every dungeon and heroic version is defeated. Now raiding content sure is anticipated by many players. Future patches will surely reveal if it was worth the wait and money invested.

So in conclusion: good expansion, but it seems heavy and slow paced - and it most certainly does not bring back the vanilla feeling, at all.

Warlords of Draenor's questing is quick, painless, and does a good job at conveying the story, and as usual, Blizzard's art team takes what little they have to work with on WoW's old engine and makes it shine in a huge, surprising way. Yet gameplay wise there is so much left to be desired.

So many abilities stripped away, so much of the "world" becoming a simple, linear experience, professions becoming useless, the majority of the game revolving around instanced content... it makes World of Warcraft feel like less of a world than ever before.

WoW still has a good framework, and I'll always love the world itself, but its implementation and its single minded approach to become more and more routine, strict, and linear have turned me off to the game. I have heard this expansion as being hailed as a "return to the roots", yet nothing could be further from the truth. I question if these individuals experienced the early years of WoW pre-Cataclysm, and even pre WOTLK.

You cannot sum up WoW by any one expansion, as the game changes slowly over a period of time, but Warlords of Draenor left me cold. I suspect this will be the last WoW chapter I purchase.

World of Warcraft is an awesome mmo rpg the first of its kind. But its has some drawbacks!!! First of all World of Warcraft requires about 130 euros per year. Apart from that it is also required to pay for every expansion which is cost usually 50 euros. In my opinion World of Warcraft must stop the monthly payment or make free the expansions.

WoD continues the trend that WoW has been following lately - make the game simpler, less dependent on other players, more accessible. And that is not a good thing, not at all. And that is not a good thing, not at all. WoD is almost a single player game for the entire leveling part which kind of beats the purpose of MMORPG and when (if) you start raiding the difficulty only spikes at heroic/mythic but does so quite heavily.

Questing is still the same Kill X foozles/Bring Y **** but quite easy and devoid of story. Sure, you can build outposts and get different abilities for the zone that outpost is in but ultimately do you care about that if you're going to spend 4 hours overall in the entire zone? Yes, levels fly quite fast, while plots can be summarized as "I killed a bunch of innocent animals and evil orcs, then X happened and I was sent off to the next zone".

Professions have been butchered. No more fun gadgets from engineering, no silly potions from alchemy, everything is hidden behind daily cooldowns and requires materials from other professions which you do not even need to buy. Your garrison provides enough materials for your daily cooldowns. So you do not need to visit the auction house or pay attention to other people at all.

The Garrison is Farmville. To send followers on missions or to check the mission results you have to actually visit the Garrison. And with missions lasting for around 1 hour you're on a very short leash. Also you get daily dungeon quests and profession orders. Sitting all alone in your own little instanced Garrison.

A lot of combat abilities have been cut too. Along with any kind of choice or room for error. Just press all your buttons and it will be good.

The big problem is that accessibility curve has been flattened heavily. In BC running heroic dungeons required good gear and actual skill at playing your character. So beating a heroic felt like an accomplishment. In WoD heroics and normal raids are almost (but not quite) unchallenging. So to feel any kind of accomplishment you'll have to diligently raid mythic for 4-5 days a week because everything else is accessible to 90% of the population. And that 4-5 days a week is a really heavy investment.

Leveling - very well done, I look forward to 90-100 on my alts, only if 1-90 would not be that bad... but they need to sell those boosts right?

End game at 100 - failure overall:

    - 5 mans are good but are useless faster than light (lack of rewards)

    - LFR is nice but takes 30 min tops

    - Garrison is most simple facebook game

    - Daily, reputations, garrison invasions: pure korean mmo grind, are you serious?

    - Ashran, PvP zone I had huge hopes on is massive failure, you can't even get in in reasonable time frame

Overall it was nice 60 days, but level 100 content feels kinda like beta. Therefore like always I voted with my wallet and will be back when more content is added and current issues are fixed.

P.S. WoD launch will be forgotten but never forgiven. I will never buy any WoW expansion until I see on forums it is OK - and I was there for TBC and WOTLK launch days. Real shame on Blizzard for that.

    Storyline
The story is great, the cinematics are great and the raids are great. But it lacks some depth.
Yes the quests are more interactive and dynamic, they emphasize the story as well up to the garrison.
After that I found it to be a bit of a drag. Some quests are nice, fun and challenging. Most are easy and boring.

In the end it's the same as all expansions are, the grind for new gear.
At first the raids are hard, because it's all new and there are some balancing issues.
But when I started with LFR, I was surprised how easy it went (even without very good players in the raid). So after a few raids it's just a wait. Will I get a good raid group, if I have... will I get that weapon or armor I really want.

To close up, I got bored out really fast.
    1. By grinding my garrison every day, doing the same thing over and over again.
    2. Lack of interest in the new quests/area's.
    3. Getting bored with raids that are very easy to complete.

The biggest con is: the atmosphere and players are still great and the removal of so many useless skills/spells has helped the game a lot (as well as the stat. crush)
But I feel Warlords of Draenor lacks depth...

    So 6/10.

So many reviews of this are terrifyingly disingenuous, either complaining about the 2-day server issues which Blizzard are giving us more than double compensation for, or sycophants panting incessantly over Blizzard's lap showering them with praise.

Let's just get the server issues out of they way right away. They were unprepared, which is entirely inexcusable. They allowed server traffic to lag out every server and had to reduce server capacity because they didn't stress test the beta. But that's not a fair thing to judge the entire expansion from. They've done what they can, and thanks to glorious phasing technology, the issues are all but forgotten, with Blizzard promising anyone whose account was active as of launch 5 extra days (which, if you you add up all 10 million current subscribers, that's over $20million they're simply losing out on).

The story... well, immersive and nostalgic as it is, the story is extremely difficult to follow at times. They simply ask you to follow all of the changes from the original Draenor timeline without questioning all of the little things (and trust me, there are a LOT of little things to question). Not to mention to rather... GRRM passing of the story all within the levelling process of 90-100. If you allow yourself to look past the little details, then the characters and their development is absolutely beautiful and, in many cases, heart-warming. Even the little things, like seeing characters we knew very little about in Burning Crusade make another appearance and play a much larger role, are wonderful.

The stat squish and ability prune are much-welcomed to this expansion. As someone who plays a paladin, spending Holy Power on Inquisition every 55 seconds felt like an utter waste and made it seem as though my damage was dropping. With abilities being thrown together or added as part of a class's basic stats, your keybindings will significantly reduce and you won't have to stretch one hand over to the other side of your keyboard.

One major stipulation one could point out is that Blizzard wanted to reduce the amount of stats we had, but ended up adding convoluted tertiary stats which are nigh indistinguishable from older stats or Primary stats (e.g. Versatility increases damage and healing by x%).

The dungeons and loot systems are questionable, to be frank. Again, as a paladin, it pains me to look through the loot list and see twenty-odd of each type of armour (gloves, shoulders, etc) with stats that I don't want or need being in far greater amounts than the stats that you actually want. The easiest way to fix this is simply increase the drop chance on ones that go with your specialisation, or have stats that are given based on your specialisation. The chance of earning Warforged upgrades from Heroic dungeons, regardless of rarity, is a poor design choice, leaving one to depend on RNG more than ever to be able to do better in future dungeons and, eventually, raids. It would be much better to leave Warforged to raiding and give it an Apexis cost to upgrade pieces instead of being left to RNG.

And thus is the segue to the topic of Warlords of Draenor's new currency system, Apexis Crystals: a Timeless Coin-esque currency that is earnt in the same way: daily quests and farming mobs in specific areas (e.g. Shattrath), which are mainly used in the Legendary quest line, but are also used for purchasing of some reputation mounts. Daily, you can earn anywhere between 800-1000 from quests alone, but some can also be found from Work Orders or Garrison missions. Each mount is worth only 5000 Apexis crystals, and the first part of the Legendary quest line requires some absurdly arbitrary number in the high 4000s, so the grind is much more tolerable than the Timeless Coins were. The flexible use of this currency is nice, as those with less gold that wish to focus on upgrading their Garrison don't need to worry about a ten thousand gold cost for the Legendary item a la Cataclysm's rogue and caster Legendary weapons.

The Garrisons are... sadly very limited, offering only 2 Large plots, 3 medium plots, and 3 small plots in the tier 3 (costing 5000 gold and 2000 resources!), while you have 5 large, 8 medium, and about a dozen and a half (give or take) small buildings to chose from. The slow gathering of resources is acceptably slow, as I doubt Blizzard intended for us to reach the maximum level of Garrison and buildings within the first week. However, this is marred by the fact that you are FORCED to use specific buildings to gather resources quickly (either a Lumber Mill or a Trading Post), as treasures around Draenor seldom reward greater than a dozen resources, if at all, as do rares. The followers and missions are infuriating as the abilities they have are almost entirely up to RNG, and missions seldom match the followers.

PvP gear also has a chance to reward Warforged gear from Strongboxes, which is extremely counter-intuitive. There are no new bgs; Ashran isn't great.

Fans of the game will usually tell you "then don't play that part of the game". Or "that's your opinion". But the problem is they don't don't realize that this is exactly the answer to what they are saying: "Yep, that's why I don't play it, because I find it a 0/10".

The pre leveling zone is amazing, you see gul'dan, meet the bad guys and over all have a epic time in terms of story telling. Then this game get's RKO'd to ground..

Outside several small chains this game offers nothing in terms of storytelling. I mean one of the key points in Warcraft history is when orc corruption/invasion is about to happen and you don't meet iron horde until first raid instance?

Draenor for me is just boring. Grommash Hellscream the mighty warrior was seen once during this time. This is the same warrior who in Warcraft 3 got tired of waiting and charged enemies, slaughtered everyone...Now hes afk and just taunted us when we destroyed hes portal.

    Blizzard service quality : Bad
Pre 100 content quality: Very bad

This is fifth expansion which is something i'm still trying to wrap my head around.

I found it, "meh". I think overall the game is pretty cool, but the amount of filler and grinding there is just makes the game worse over time. Also for all the "quality of life" adjustments they made to the game coming this expansion, they introduced a whole bunch of other needs of "quality of life" adjustments (you think they would have learned some things to apply!).

Also for all the "quality of life" adjustments they made to the game coming this expansion, they introduced a whole bunch of other needs of "quality of life" adjustments (you think they would have learned some things to apply!).

The environments are pretty nice, although maybe too generic and not so memorable. I find the story very convoluted: It starts pretty cool, and it keeps up a bit with some cool and emotional in-game cinematics, but quickly after the game descends into a load of filler content with various stories that you don't remember and just confuse you and make you wonder what the original story was and what they heck you are doing in this expansion. Still have quest givers /yelling quest information that comes out as spoilers because everyone (including people doing the same quest at different stages) can hear it, although that is not too common

I didnt really do any pvp, but the world pvp zone has multiple hour queues in general so I don't even bother. To make it worse the queues don't even have an ETA, nor a number showing what place you are in the queue.

there is this new thing called a garrison, kind of neat. I like how you are like the main focus character in the story of this expansion--you are a commander with people deferring to you. the garrison has a new thing that is like a mobile game, but its pretty easy and kinda fun

no major bugs ive really experienced, but lots of small ones that seem to be chilling for awhile

    the raids are like usual

This review will be as objective as possible. Putting the expansion's launch issues aside, WoD is a decent game with both new and nostalgia-provoking content. This review will be as objective as possible. Putting the expansion's launch issues aside, WoD is a decent game with both new and nostalgia-provoking content. Seems like WoW's philosophy has changed in recent years - from a story-driven, cooperative, and customizable experience to a more basic, and some would say, simplistic MMO. Now let's look at the breakdown:

    1. Graphics: 7/10 - new models and more detailed terrain. The art style is preserved, and zones and dungeons definitely look better. The graphics is not intended to look realistic at all.
    2. Gameplay: 6/10 - multiple spells and skills removed. Game is now more basic. Less customization and class uniqueness. However, some may appreciate this simplification.
    3. Story & Quests: 5/10 - story is engaging, but questline is very linear compared to previous expansions, where you were given numerous questing options and players can choose based on those options. Once a player levels to 100, he has experienced most of the leveling content.
    4. New Features & Community: 4/10 - relatively new features such as LFD and LFR, while convenient, have almost eliminated the need to communicate with other players. This allows more players access to dungeons and raids. However, considering this is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, WoW should encourage players to interact and cooperate, instead of the other way around. Thus, the community has, in my opinion, declined in terms of demeanor. In the past, >85% of players were polite and helpful, whereas now, it's around 40-50%. Compared to other online games, WoW's community is now average, and not excellent as before. With the introduction of garrisons and linear questlines with cutscenes, WoW has become more of a single player experience.
    5. Music: 7/10 - great compositions and fits context well.

Overall, a solid game, though with a totally different philosophy and a new direction.

There is about 2 days of gameplay added, and other than that it is the same old stuff. That being said, the content is nice, and the atmosphere of WoD is pretty. Still, it is a bit expensive compared to better expansions like BC and even LK which is why I am giving it a 5. WoW is way past its prime.

Great world, great music, great atmosphere.

Too easy to level, dungeons aren't difficult, rep grinding should be done in dungeons, NOT by grinding mobs, no endgame yet

I was unfortunate enough to assume that high level of quality would be maintained throughout the rest of the levelling experience. The zones slowly get more into the “classic” WoW feel where there’s less phasing, less progressive questlines, kill this, fetch that, collect x, deliver y.

The garrison was fun and I was drawn in. At first you’re placing buildings, it’s all new and exciting, you place a few work orders, dispatch your followers on quests, cool! By around 96 I wasn’t even bothering to do anything when I went back. The garrison for me was relegated to providing no more than a 20 minute hearthstone. By the time you have sufficient materials to make use of the garrison you’ve already outgrown anything it can offer. Granted, I don’t have a level 3 fortress yet, so this may change, but also maybe not.

Honestly not all I hoped, but I don’t have the answer as to how to make it better.

Having said that, I'm pretty happy playing WoD. For me, this installment is the apex of the MMO genre (there is actually a reason why no other MMO has achieved WoW figures you know), and it is indeed the best expansion of the original game. While some mechanics are old and there are some issues (it's an MMO after all) it is still THE king in the MMO universe.
Really worth playing if you enjoy MMO's in general or WoW specifically. The streamline of the game in general means you can jump in and get going easier than ever. Most of the negative reviews come from WoW no-lifer hardcore players that miss those good old days (?) where you had to literally devote your life to the game. Not any more though, as the days of the elitist jerks are long gone.

Having played WoW off and on since the days of vanilla I feel as if WoD has great potential to succeed, especially after the amount of rather dull content that made up the majority of MoP. The updated graphics look great (considering that it is still WoW graphics) and the garrison and quest content is generally fun and certainly more entertaining than MoP's storyline. Nonetheless, the expansion does suffer due to ability pruning as the classes do not feel nearly as versatile as they had been in the past. The more restricted set of abilities has streamlined gameplay as it is far easier to understand and master how to use a class, but it comes at the expense of each class feeling more shallow and restricted. Overall I am looking forward to finishing the expansion but I am unsure how long the revised classes will hold my attention once I play through the leveling content.

On a side note, the lag at the time of writing this has reached the point where the content is mostly inaccessible. While I feel this is a major issue it is nonetheless temporary and as much as I am annoyed that I am unable to experience the remaining content I do not feel that a review of the lag is reflective of the expansion. Had I factored the current level of lag into my score it would have been a 1 or 2 instead of a 6.

The game looks great, what I've played has been brilliant but it would be great to be able to play the server stability is horrendous after 10 years of experience they still haven't learnt how to handle the influx of players at the beginning of new expansions.
For a company that's been raking in over 70 million a month(on this game alone) you'd think they'd be able to manage these issues.

The only thing left for me was raiding, and it was either insanely easy with LFR which granted junk items, or pretty darn difficult for the other raids....What urks me most about WoW is the insanely low drop rates of items...I mean I ran a raid 40 times, and only never got the 15% drop rate item....it wouldnt be so bad if you could get loot drops more than once a week. WoD was just too much of a grindfest for me. Its like they abandoned the RPG/questing for PVP & raiding. I actually really liked MoP and I didnt even finish all teh quests. I had all the WoD quests completed for a single toon in the first month. If they hadnt mucked up crafting so badly I would probably had been content doing profession stuff. Unfortunately all crafting hinges on savage blood which is just annoying to have to farm. and being able to buy game time with gold, you pretty much have to grind & farm just for that all month, so instead of grinding for gear or raiding you would be grinding for play time so it was totally pointless. They need to look to SWTOR for their subscription levels, I would probably be playing at least on a free to play and every so often throwing some cash in, but instead I look at the monthly cost and how much enjoyment Im getting out of it versus other games available to me. I might take advantage of the free 7 days available from the 6.2 patch, but I dunno......PVP is so unbalanced, raids are hard to get into anything above LFR...forget PUGs ,you will sit there for 5 hours waiting. The garrison idea was cool, but it missed the mark. Expand

An improvement on the previous expansion in my opinion, as the new story and content for levelling is much more enjoyable and in line with more traditional WOW lore. The continued "casual" additions are ok in terms of dungeons and now raiding, however garrisons additions are lacklustre and not particularly fun.

I'm editing my original 10/10 review. On retrospect this turned out to be one of the worst expansions. The raiding was good, and Tanaan Jungle was a fun zone that was added later, but the rest was a failure with tons of cut content. Not that this matters much in 2018. WoW still remains my favorite MMORPG.

The expansion was mostly fine in the beginning (aside from the terrible launch), the questing and leveling experience was very engaging, definitely the best one so far. However once you hit level cap, there's very little to do outside of raiding. PVP also got the short end of the stick and arena participation was at lowest it's ever been.

As for the profession problems, Blizzard has made a lot of questionable changes, however professions are still very viable gold makers for the people who adapt to the changes, rather than becoming a sniveling mess over the features that daddy (Blizzard) took away.

Personally, I was formerly a hardcore raider during Wrath, and after a few years off since the Cataclysm expansion disaster, I came back looking for a more casual and relaxed experience that didn't depend much on raiding. and that's exactly what I found in WoD.

When first starting from level 90 and venturing off into Draenor, you find yourself helping a group of characters destroy the Portal which was built to breach the gateway between Draenor and Azeroth. From here you have to progress through each zone all while building up your army of allies to ultimately defeat the group that tried to invade Azeroth.

    Single Player Gameplay
The single player content with this game contains basically two things: Leveling up through the zones and your Garrison. At first glance the sound of having your own "town" that you can control people and buildings may intrigue you, but we will get back to that in a minute. The leveling up process through Draenor is fantastic. The zones are designed with progression in mind from one location to another and there always is a bread crumb trail for you to follow to easily find your way. The implementation of Rare mobs and treasures made each zone more fun and exciting because you could pick up extra equipment to make yourself stronger. You'd also be able to find and unlock followers on your adventures which would assist you with duties in your Garrison.

The garrisons are set up in 3 levels, with each level unlocking as you grow in level and progress through the game. Each level offers more of a variety of buildings to help with professions, resource gathering, follower requirement, daily quest hubs and even PvP. At first you'll be extremely excited about this because you will have most everything at your finger tips, but you soon realize that all you do is log on to your character, do your garrison "stuff" and then log off because there is nothing else to do for end game content. The Mine and the Herb garden utterly destroyed gathering professions because you didn't need to have either one to obtain materials needed for crafting. This also hurt the economy because this now wasn't a viable way to make any gold. Professions were gated now behind a daily cooldown building in your garrison that you needed to make certain items. On top of that any secondary stats (Mastery, Mutlistrike, Haste, Versatility) that you were given from the items were completely randomized. The follower mission table was just that, you basically became the quest giver and sent your followers out on missions. You don't get to do the missions any more, they do. This now became the primary way of making money in Warlords of Draenor because with little effort you could send your followers out and they'd bring you back gold, experience and even loot from raids. The shipyard addition in 6.2 would just end up being another mission table. This made end game solo content, basically non existent.

    Multiplayer
The multiplayer for Warlords of Draenor for the most part was well designed in terms of the Raids and Dungeons. The raids, if you were able to do them on the higher difficulties offered a variety of challenges that required a high amount of teamwork along with personal skill and accountability. The dungeons were well designed for first hitting level 100, but grew tiresome quickly with the fact that there were only 8 dungeons to choose from, one of which was a rehash from Vanilla WoW. There weren't any new dungeons added, only harder difficulties and timewalking which is just a rehash of old dungeons from all the previous expansions.

PvP is a joke, no new battlegrounds or Arenas were added and Ashran, which was supposed to be like AV or Wintersgrasp, actually felt more like PvE with a group of people rather than Actual PvP with objectives. Its insanely easy to get gear up for PvP and doesn't offer any incentive to keep doing it.

The overall story of the game is rather convoluted and you can see the end product was changed and rushed. Without giving away any spoilers, the end boss isn't who you think it should be. Normally Blizzard puts a lot more time and effort into their stories and is one of the reasons their games are so popular, that's why it's so painful to see how poor this one was written.

    Graphics and Sound
The art style and attention to details by Blizzard's art team are superb. You can really see all the hard work that went into each zone and all the new characters, weapons and armor. Although it may not be perfect, it is probably the best part of this expansion. The sound via music and voice acting was also top notch.

TL:DR Overall the game is average at best and to me deserves a score of about a 4 (the art and music bumps the overall score to a 5) . If you are able to raid, you will find it fun for a few months, but even then all you will find yourself doing is logging on to do garrison "stuff" and raiding. Here is to hoping Blizzard learns from their mistakes for Legion!

Story arc was interesting and engaging for me, but still all about yo-yo quests. you know, the "go there, come back. go over there, then come back. Oh, you know that place you left three hours ago? Yeah...go there and come back again." But that's to be expected.

My main issue with WoW pretty much since Burning Failure is the bloody dailies. They pretty much make playing the game a second occupation. Rep grinds, crafting material grinds, just grind after grind after grind....and none of it meaningful. Just busy work for the sake of distracting you from the fact that Blizzard really, if you think about it, didn't give you much in this expansion.

Content-wise....they basically gave you enough to do to hit 100 in a day. Yes, a single day folks. I know because I did it. 7 times. what does that tell you? At that point....guess what you are left with?

    Grinding.

Or going to finishing quests for gold. Either way...a grind.

Now Blizzard says they will start putting out an xpac every year instead of every 2-3. What will that solve if you barely give us anything meaningful to do to begin with? I literally spent more time running all my toons back through old raids for transmog gear than I ever did doing the actual content in WoD....and found it MORE fulfilling.

Listen to your players Blizzard....you keep ignoring us much longer and we might just leave to go play Age of Conan.

My quarrel with Warlords of Draenor is that it does not define the direction for the whole game – it just refreshes it and sets it in order, which is what patches do. There’s not enough novelties and the changes (e.g. randomized loot) are hit and miss. [01/2015, p.52]
