Underwhelming, story was poor, just non stop talking to random people, nothing interesting. Big bad isn't bad, and the talent system is good, but there's so many issues and politics forced on you, I can't enjoy wow anymore.

Absolutely boring, I can no longer play the game without becoming bored within 30 minutes. I could care les about the flying. They should have left the profession system alone. Blizzard has been loosing me for a while and this may be the deathblow.

Levelling was fun, end game is no different from shadowlands and in fact worse for me personally with the addition of legacy dungeons included in the m+ rotation which I've already played to death.

Game is riddled with bugs, poor optimisation, renown system takes too long and the rewards are rubbish, too many reps to grind out, PvP is unbalanced, world quests still suck, music is good,

Overall it was fine for like 3 weeks but after that you're back to the same stuff you've been doing for the last few expansions and it's boring, not the best expansion there's been by a longshot I honestly preferred 9.0 but that's just me. Mediocre at best.

After I got loremaster and cleared mythics there was nothing that brought me back to play. This expansion feels like absolutely bare minimum effort. I was expecting something great after BFA and Slands failed. The weekly events on the dragon isles (Community soup, hunts, etc) are so bland and lack any depth. The community soup causes extreme amounts of unplayable lag in Azure Span.

I was expecting something great after BFA and Slands failed. The weekly events on the dragon isles (Community soup, hunts, etc) are so bland and lack any depth. The community soup causes extreme amounts of unplayable lag in Azure Span.

I wish that was the only issue. Blizzard has proved since pre-patch they are completely incapable of fixing bugs and reading beta reports/feedback. There are still many bugs, glitches, and exploits that have been reported since beta that are not being fixed.

The game outside of Dragon Isles is just a wreck it has been completely abandoned, old content is riddled with scaling bugs, quests that are glitched or cannot be completed. The scaling of BFA is just nauseating. It feels like private server quality.

Once you complete the quests in Dragon Isles (and there aren't many) you start to see just how barebones this expansion is. You are left with the same gameplay loop we have had since legion. M+ (These are just terrible, especially if you are not playing a class with high mobility.) PVP (No new battlegrounds, solo queue was a + I guess) Raid (Boring, over dragons already.) This is the expansion we needed to see something new added to the loop such as housing.

The community at this point is just not worth the stress, I deal with just about as many trolls and toxic players as I do in games like League of Legends.

The final thing I want to mention is the laughably boring rep grinds they added. The Obsidian Sanctum and Cobalt Assembly. This was proof enough that development time was cut short. This is world of warcraft in 2022, and this is the type of innovative content you give us? Terrible.

But don't worry guys we get the trading post next patch! That'll save it! More cosmetic and collectables is what we need. Not worth the $10 price increase this time around. What a joke. The only thing positive about this expansion was that it is the final nail in the coffin for me with this company and MMO.

Somehow an expansion that almost entirely is worse than Shadowlands, proving Blizzard with it's current dev team are getting REALLY good at making a REALLY BAD game!

Dragonriding with an energy system, when the game has gathering and you're going back and forth between high cliffs and low ground so you're always running out of vigor on a farming route.
Dragonriding which causes motion sickness even with the 'accessibility' settings.
Dragonriding which can't do sharp turns like regular flying mounts and can't just fly up because 'losing momentum', so everything but the 'max speed' is worse than regular flying.

Questing experience again, 'campaign' streamlined which is always a poor choice.

Renown is another poor system they're pushing forward to keep it limping, and it's not account wide like people gave the feedback for. No real catch up mechanics besides "Oh hey you earn a little more while doing all the quests again!" which hey, people don't want to do because the questing is a slog and a chore.

Basically the removal of World Content as a whole, and what World Content there is, like World Quests have poor rewards and are generally unfun to play through.. So many more 'minigames' instead of I don't know, playing my character? They're LESS compelling than SL WQs which is saying something.

New Profession system, requiring MONTHS of working on and farming to level up properly, and CRAFTING professions are now basically untenable without others helping you, you have to PAY them to get help btw so Blizzard fosters more community toxicity again while claiming to want to fight it (again). Continued disabling of certain profession things like Transmutes because someone figured out an exploit and Blizz has no Quality Assurance team.

Customization options still lacking for many races, especially those of furred variety, as well as the utter failure that is the Dracthyr.

They've really been pushing cash shop transmog and other items since the xpac launched, right after making you shell out a large sum of money for a game on top of monthly fees you have to PAY more to get the 'cool new items'. If they want to do that they're gonna have to make expansions or sub free, sorry.

Class Balance is an absolute joke in PvE and PvP this time around and in old world content like older cities, players with broken Heart of Azeroth essences have a large advantage as well as tanks that just self-heal to max and take so little damage.

Talent Trees TRIED to return to Vanilla style and failed, taking base things from class toolkits and making them talents to make them 'feel better' but failing. I DO NOT want to have to 're-earn' something I already had before.

Blizzard also doesn't equally enforce their rules in game or on the forums, and in fact rarely actions anything at all. Low amounts of reports mean nothing, meaning Blizzard doesn't value their reports and doesn't care.

Very poor and very slow PvP balances for the game. They lose a massive amount of players who feel like their classes are being ignored while other classes are just superior in every way.

Solo Shuffle the new rated Solo arenas is a disaster as Blizzard favors players with previously high rating in shadowlands by giving them automatic high MMR and letting them shoot up the boards even though this is a new expansion and solo shuffle is completely new.

Furthermore, Blizzard has an extreme bias towards some classes like Demon Hunters who right now are untouchable and do 3x as much damage as the 2nd closest class. It's like you have 2 DPS classes in 1 with an insane amount of control/CC/stuns. The top 100 Solo Shuffle board has 40+ demon hunters.

Blizzard also hit the game with a series of nerfs that completely destroyed some classes before the season even went live based on some world PvP and buffed others until they become completely dominant like Shadow Priests.

Unfortunately, the PvP side of DF so far has been a disaster and whoever is in charge of it at Blizzard needs to do a much better job and adjusting class damage numbers and the amount of CC in the game has become obnoxious. Their solution is Dampening and bandage solutions that don't actually address the game's fundamental problems.

There is also a massive issue with PvP and PvE boosting where people spend gold to get their ratings boosted or to get carried through a raid, they do so by buying gold through Blizzard's services and Blizzard turns a blind eye to this because they make a profit from it. It is however undermining the value of these activities and making legitimate players frustrated.

Blizzard also screwed up the race to world first by making changes to the last boss while only 1 guild was raiding.

DF has a ton of UI bugs as well as game bugs and Dragonriding is a fun mechanic but feels very clunky and can cause you to DC and have your characters bugged across all realms if you DC while strafing.

Blizzard has also started designing fight encounters on the basis that everyone is running Add-ons which overly complicates the fights. Mythic raids are also unattainable for the majority of WoW players as it requires 20 people from the same realm and Blizzard has continuously focused on putting the majority of the best rewards and gear and cosmetics in Mythic raids.

Dragonflight is a step in the right direction, but falling flat in some areas. Worth playing for fans of the IP, but long time fans are going to feel left out in some areas.

Pros: -End Gameplay is solid: removal of bloated systems and a return to simplicity makes the game feel more like a game again. -Professions Overhaul: MMORPG staple finally brought to modern standards.
Dragonflight is a step in the right direction, but falling flat in some areas. Worth playing for fans of the IP, but long time fans are going to feel left out in some areas.

    Pros:
-End Gameplay is solid: removal of bloated systems and a return to simplicity makes the game feel more like a game again.
-Professions Overhaul: MMORPG staple finally brought to modern standards.
-Dragonflying: a perfect replacement for "swimming" through the air.
-wPvP and PvP are back: rewards for both fighting the opposite faction out in the world, and in instances on ladder. Solo queue has finally been implemented, but...

    Cons:
-War in Warcraft has been diluted: actual fans of the IP for the long term understand Horde vs Alliance. Working together with the opposite faction as a fan of the original game this much just feels awful. Peace time exists, but the game feels diluted and lost it's soul.
-Solo Shuffle: solo queue arenas have massive problems with wait times, lack of incentives for healers and MMR issues for them, and people leaving will ensure you've just wasted over a half hour of your time with no CR gains or losses.
-Dracthyr: an MMORPG race that can't even wear armour in it's main form? All the development time was put into a visage form with customization that could have easily gone to other races, which also still feel horribly outdated.
-Faction Imbalance: the Alliance still lacks any interesting new races, and has human male models that look like gorillas. Playing one faction shouldn't feel like you're getting scraps, but if you're a Horde main who doesn't care that you're working with Alliance peacefully in a war game, you'll likely feel fine.

While the game continues to evolve to modern standards, it is still massively behind, and with a focal part of the game's identity - Horde vs Alliance - being put to the side, hopefully temporarily, other games in the genre like XIV, Guild Wars 2, or even Star Wars offers more features, and embraces their identities in full.

Worth playing if you enjoy the end game cycle, but if you're a long time Warcraft fan or enjoy the old stories, this doesn't feel like Warcraft.

Do you love time gating? Yeah, me neither, but there is a lot of it.

Honestly, I think I’m just at a point in my life where I refuse to be a hamster anymore. More power to you if you enjoy that, but for me, I’d rather not be limited by systems created out of greed. One of my main issues I have is timegating. Ironically we have less systems now, sure, but I feel like the rep grinds and levels are convoluted and even the crafting is convoluted and now one of my least favorite things in the game. In a way you just replaced the previous systems with these, and it still feels like a chore or a job. Field of ferocity does not work for the world quest or the regular quest.
Sometimes no quest rewards from community feast.
Ton of lags in new zone.
Unable to get any transmutes to work.
    Regarding racism in wow:
Many said it already, it is really annoying to have racial segregation in this game, which is still treated as a necessary foundation. If you claim to be this virtuous liberal loving and tolerant company that is putting all these lgbt npcs in the story for progress and representation, but at the same time continue to strictly segregating playable races from eachother and forcing players to choose a faction based on races, then you're not being consistent and I won't respect you. Simple as that.
Toggle auto self cast not working.
    Siege on dragonbane keep disappearing.
    Mage bugs:
Mana regen will sometimes completely drop to extreme low lvs and ignore the enlightened talent. Arc barrage will sometimes miss or do no damage at all. Clear casting arc missles drop off when you try to move. even though talented for movement.
Customizations and graphics in the old world are a joke = very outdated and limited.
Several pages for my item restoration are blank across multiple characters.
I can start the dragon riding races but the path arrow goes straight into the ground and the gates do not spawn. Unable to complete.
Factions and classes are still unbalanced... to no surprise. Also still unable to fully play with the other faction due to Blizzard's toxic restrictions.
When call pet is placed on any action bar it does not work for hunters.
All jewelcrafting reagents stored in reagent banks appear in the crafting window, but fail to craft with the message, “That item is not a valid target.” Reagents stored in the normal part of the bank don’t appear in the JC crafting window at all.

Yeah, no. Nothing has been done about all the issues this game faces. Instead players can enjoy a lot of rainbow stories on the dragon isles without any improvemnets for the overall game. Even though the new zone is full of bugs, I can at least give one point for the isles looking nice, but the rest of the game looks awful.

Dragonflight's oh so great (and only) new feature is dragonriding, straight up copied from guild wars 2.

Apart from these things there is nothing really new about this expansion and well, the stuff above is not really my taste.
This game has the same old problems like class and faction imbalance, outdated graphics and models, restrictions etc.
Guess it is just time to give up on this game once and for all.
battle for azeroth was a disaster, so was shadowlands and now again the same with dragonflight.

The fractions are different, their quests are different.
Dragonriding makes travelling from point A to point B more fun and engaging.
Now every new feature has it's proper timing, a player is not overwhelmed with everything from the beginning.

Of course, it would be wrong not to mention the problems still unsolved.
    The balance that doesn't exist.
    Still no new battlegrounds.
It's pretty difficult for people without guild membership to reach optimal item level. BG chests don't provide you with equipment, world quests do, but you won't be a match for a player who already could try the new raid, and LFR is one week late :')
And LFR is a problem, too. Why the ilvl is so low? I think it would be nice if LFR was available for different difficulty as well.

All in all, it's an expansion to have fun. I do not consider it as a cybersport discipline or something like this, but for an average casual player it has a lot to offer.

This is such an awful game. wow has been stagnant for almost 2 decades.

Now with Dragonflight we get another stale expansion with nothing new on the table. It is such a boring expansion, that I felt bored after just 3 days. New record.

Now the devs always claim they want to give players more freedom to express themselves in the game. But guess what, that doesn't mean we are finally able to play whatever race we want in our favorite faction, you know, being free to be, who we want to be.
Instead it actually means we get some more recolors of age-old transmog sets, maybe even 3 more hair colors for one of the many races... or not. Right now not a single race got any more customization options, not to mention how uneven the options are between the races and in general all of them have way too few options.
What else? Ah yes, while Blizzard thinks it is completely legit to keep racism, they take away genders. Because nothing says more freedom of expression like taking away the option to be male or female. All players have to be non-binary.
You gotta love all the freedom in this game.

However everyone with some working brain cells sees right through this pr move, considering that the whole game is build on strictly separating races from eachother. Making a lot of npcs gay and trans is the cheap way of claiming to be progressive,

The Dragon Isles look nice with some exceptions, which look very unfinished. Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms etc. look awful. No updates whatsoever on the graphics. Not even for the main cities! lol...
Customization options are just laughable in this game. Evoker has a little bit more options than the others races, but my god, even that race has way too few for a game in this age.
Work orders are not that well thought out.
It is still not possible to play with my friend, who prefers the other faction in the same guild etc. Even though this is supposed to be a soclal game. Also same racist faction system in general like many people pointed out.

Same goes for other zones like Gilneas for example. It's been over 10 years and all those zones and many more are just left their in a state, which doesn't represent the current lore. Let alone the outdated graphics.

Graphics are a problem in general, just like lackluster customization options.
As a hunter for example I've waited for who knows how many years now for wolves to get updated. Did they get an update with dragonflight? Nope. They look just like they did during Vanilla. No updates for almost 2 decades. That's just not ok for such a big company like Blizzard.
I want to play in a world that feels alive and up to date, not in a world that is left with the devs not caring for it and leaving it as it is.

That's why I can't really enjoy the Dragon Isles. It feels like the devs give you a crumble in form of dragon isles, which is just there to distract you from a mouldy cake, which is Azeroth.

Now the bad things. Evoker and Dracthyr are pointless. All Dracthyr are evokers, they can't be any other classes. I don't care what "lore" justification is used, it's only because they didn't want to spend time with other classes and animations. Transmog is also terrible on Dracthyr, again because of lack of time or laziness. Also the performance has been utterly awful in this expansion so far. Constant disconnects when landing a dragon, servers down, stuttering and lagging on Blizzard's end and not from the user's end. Performance still needs serious tweaking. The reputation grinding is pretty bad this expansion too, there's a lot of it. Also group loot is utterly terrible, no idea why they brought it back.

Dungeons and raids are pretty "meh", same old thing nothing really improved or worth, so a neutral score there. Story also gets a "meh", I gave up caring about WoW's story after Legion. Also if the LGBTQ pandering that Blizzard is doing offends you, then you're just an easily triggered snowflake. It doesn't affect how good or bad the game is.

Considering how expensive this game is for players... no thanks. I don't spend anymore money on it. Bugs aren't the only thing, which "bug" me about this game however, but so many other people already spoke about it on metacritic, so I would only echo them, I guess.
Like the horrible, horrible! looking graphics in older zones. Like... wtf is going on in this game?
As a new player... it truly feels as if they haven't spent money on wow since it first came out and that was around 2005 I think. Like seriously, the graphics are outdated.... really, really outdated and don't even get me started on those clunky character models, especially for male humans, Worgen and night elves. They look ugly, so very ugly. Why aren't those things updated? Aswell as the older zones?
Or are the devs of the opinion everyone would just buy a level boost instead of leveling through these zones? And even than, Stormwind for example is a main hub and despite of that it too looks extremely outdated. What are the devs doing with all the money they get from the players? It's really a shame.
And what is it about the racist faction system? I wasn't sure, if I should point that out, because some people might tend to call you woke and stuff, but my god is the system with Horde and Alliance racist. xD Seeing how other players pointed it out on metacritic however, I definitively want to criticize it, too.
Sorry, but being a specific race should not!!! define a faction loyalty. That is just wrong on so many levels. Jeez... Even if Horde and Alliance start yet another pointless war in the future, there is absolutely no reason to keep racial segregation. An Alliance Tauren can fight a Horde Tauren, just like all the other races can fight against eachother. Like Pandaren and Evoker they all need to have free will and free choice, instead of a hivemind mentality.

This game sure is something else, but not in a good way. I tried it for a few months and unfortunately I don't plan on playing it anymore.
I don't feel like it is worth it's money, seeing how the devs don't care for their world and races and on top of that value very questionable mindsets.

After many years of players feeling fatigued by systems that tried to keep them logged into the game, Dragonflight delivers a unique experience for WoW with a sprawling, dense world begging to be explored with the fun new Dragonriding feature, new raids that are generally really fun, and the talent trees making a return to the game; changing the way we all play our classes alongside a clean UI update that is long overdue. A great new endgame with the Proffessions overhaul shows that their new philosophy is to upgrade the base game and and as a longtime WoW player; I'm all for it. Along with a suite of very player-friendly updates like the Trading Post, a battle pass-esque feature where you are rewarded with store mounts and cosmetics just by playing the game, Dragonflight feels like a renaissance for World of Warcraft in the best way possible. Although there is still skepticism and resentment towards the developers, I'm just happy to finally be excited about WoW again, whether it's Dragonflight or Wrath Classic. Expand

Updating the archaic graphics, bringing customization options to a modern standard, removing frustrating restrictions like faction locked races, guilds, lfr, lfd and so on.... nothing. They did nothing of that sort.
No visual updates, no limitations removed, no real features... no, dragon flying is not new, it is stolen from another game and they didn't even care to use a new skeleton/model for the so called "new" playable race.

I left feeling like I wasted my money yet again to be honest. This was such a loss in my book all around.

Talent trees? Well, how about they would have never removed those in the first place?
New race? Good joke. Just a scaly female Worgen and unlike other dragons we can't even use all races for visage. Why? Because the devs love restrictions.
Changeable ui? Ohhhh, great! wow reached the year 2010.
Dragon flying? Can I copy your homework, GW2?
New zone? How about you would update like 80% of the game, that is still using visuals from the early 2000s?
Actual modern customisation options with sliders, color palettes and such? Nah, we don't keep up with time here at Activision Blizzard.
Can we finally socially and freely interact with people from the other faction, joining guilds and stuff? You know, stuff you usually do in a social game like a mmo? Woah! Being social in wow? Of course not!
Did the devs finally remove racial segregation and let all playable races have their own free will and with that all races start neutral? No! We wanna keep racism as a foundation in wow. B- but look, we are totally progessive by removing genders! Right?!

I could go on. Just not a game worth spending time and money on.

Speaking of low effort, there are no new customisation options for the other races. It is so embarrassing how far behind this game is... in so many aspects. Same goes for visuals in so many zones. They never fix old zones. They just keep them with their old visuals and outdated lore like the warfronts to name only one of many examples, which are stuck in an endless loop, despite the dumb and forced war being over. Or other zones, who are literally using graphics from 2005... it is so embarrassing how this game looks.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This Expansion had so much potential to start erasing the mistakes of the last 3 Expansions! However, Blizzard has ruined the enjoyment of this Expansion for those of us Gamers who play Video Games to escape from the Identity Politics, by inserting a large amount of Identity Politics, and activism in this expansion.

If you don't enjoy seeing multiple quests in every Zone of the Dragon Isles that focuses on Gay Couples, then you should pass on this Expac. If it was 1 or two Quests, there would be no problem; the problem though is that there's multiple Quests and I mean 5 or More in the first two Zones if the Expac that I visited. I don't consider myself homophobic, but I don't want that garbage in my escapism. Some of us don't approve of Homosexuals, and do not want it shoved in our faces, especially when we are doing an activity specifically to avoid real life problems. Blizzard is now forcing their extreme left wing views on it's players, and if you argue that content like that doesn't belong in a Fantasy Video Game, you're attacked immediately for being Homophobic. This really broke my Heart because I have been a loyal World of Warcraft player since 2007, and forcing in theireft wing ideology into this game has ruined my desire to play it anymore. I had bought a $150 twelve months promotion, and had to argue with Blizzard customer support to get a refund, which they relented and are giving me my refund. It's sad that Blizzard knew that putting in this kind of content would likely anger % of the player base, and went forward with it anyway. If they remove that content, I'd consider going back, but let's be honest, they will never remove their activist content. So this is one player who has lost all desire to ever go back to WoW. What a shame.

This is the worst, most broken new player experience I've ever seen in an MMO, and from some accounts I've read it's been broken since at least Nov 15th.

Activision Blizzard has failed to do any QA whatsoever on the new player experience, instead pouring almost everything into the expansion experience for existing players which shows that the game is probably not growing at all anymore - and Activision Blizzard simply don't care. Dragonflight new feature is Dragonflying and it is really fun feature. In addition, it makes you see the new area, Dragon Isles in its majestically beautiful view up in the sky. Just like on all other WoW expansions, its new features is different from other Expansions to keep the game fresh.

WoW is a Massive game with a Massive World. New players would always be overwhelmed. They would whine becoz they are inefficient in the game due to their inexperience. They are the ones who would give bad ratings on this game. You know tourists... a little unpleasant stuff would get them irritated so easily.

If you are looking for a serious game with lots of things to explore and lot of things to do, this is the game for you. This comes from a WoW player who's been with WoW since the start 18 years ago. This is a game for hardcore and for Casuals.

    It's fine.

It's not Shadowlands for sure storywise (good), but sadly, there feels like a lot less to do once you finish the main campaign (which is passable). Dragonriding is fun for a bit, but loses its luster fast. This is clearly Blizzard trying to figure out where to bring the game post-SL/BfA etc... but this feels like such an unfinished expac... more like a cheaper DLC.

It isn't bad at all, but there's very little of substance here and WoW is really showing its age at this point.

Story/writing is still completely awful. The voice acting is horrific, felt like they got friend and family in to do it - same with the writing.

I had such a blast learning how all her abilities worked while discovering the world and taking in WoW's story through its many, many quests -- as well as dying constantly! It really was a memorable time of my life. But, I have to be honest that I have been so, so let down by Blizzard's actions as a company, as well as WoW as a gaming franchise, in recent years.

With Dragonflight's release, however, I'm feeling hopeful about things again. I'm not sold on it in any sense, but I have been enjoying my time, and I feel that the developers have really focused on the nuts & bolts of WoW's fantasy, capably delivering the thrill of exploration and a new setting's wonders through a largely familiar cast of characters. I'll go over my highs and lows so far:

    LOWS
    - very shaky connectivity; sometimes getting chain disconnected while on slanted surfaces
    - profession knowledge points should be afforded respecs (at least some of the points invested). currently they are not, which can be rough without foresight
    - some events, like siege of dragonbane keep, are a bit faulty in that they "hang up" at the start, confusing players
    - too many trinket rewards! trinkets have great diversity, but how about shifting more proc/use effects onto other gear slots? it'd spice up otherwise boring gear, which is something i loved in classic -- the rocket helmet, harm reduction belt, various epic weapons, and all the others.

    HIGHS
    - dragonriding is incredible, and it is brilliant that it wasnt gated behind lengthy grinds. it has a very gw2 gryphon feel, and it's just a super fun system that enhances the game's pace. i hope they flesh out this system further. no more skyswimming!
    - talent trees are back! i main a healer and have so many talent loadouts based on our group comp and context. it's so rewarding to pick and choose, since many classes have great trees
    - the best parts of renown have been retained. reputation is no longer a barebones, grindy five-tier system. you unlock impactful rewards (or cosmetics, which are impactful for me lol) with almost every renown level
    - despite what i said earlier, the profession overhaul is fantastic and has a real fantasy feel -- i love that my potion mastery alchemist has to complete a decay/rot-themed dungeon to access "the altar of decay," a special alchemy lab required for brewing the most toxic potions. love that so much, so cool, takes me back to the scholomance flask-brewing days :)
    - the new crossfaction systems are lovely and i hope that factions become a purely cosmetic choice so that i can do even more with my alliance friends, like just hang out in stormwind!
    - gearing is remarkable -- the way pvp gear works now is great for casual and hardcore pvpers alike, renown is important for professions but neither professions nor renown are essential, world quests feel more accessible and rewarding than ever
    - honestly, there is just a lot more wholesome content now. calling back to the first part of my review, i remember doing the love letter exchange in goldshire as well as many other love-themed quests throughout the entirety of wow (an entire quest chain central to MoP's story was about a crush!). i really enjoyed doing those quests to get away from all the heavyhanded war tales every now and then. in all my years playing wow, though, almost twenty years, i can count maybe a half-dozen times at most that any quests or any content at all have referenced or involved lgbt couples or people. there arent many in dragonflight (i can think of 4 references), but the ones that were there were really tasteful and didnt feel forced or pandery like the very, very conspicuous 0 star raters have implied/seethed. seriously, its fine lol cmon now its just two characters in love. youll be fine
    - a lot of the quests are just very well-written, with good dialogue, cinematics, and familiar story elements for us old wow nerds. it's some seriously good storytelling. i was especially taken by viritistrasz's quest, and the tuskarr's life rituals.
    - valdrakken is a gorgeous city, maybe the best city design i've seen so far. it seamlessly incorporates so many of the game's new systems into its design, and has some fantastic story behind the valdrakken accord.
    - the evoker, which i am shamelessly maining because it's new lol, is wicked fun! i heal mostly and just dps to quest, but it really feels like blizzard nailed the reactive elements and ramp elements of healing, wrapped up with some nice mobility. cannot overstate how fun this new class is.

Anyway, that's all that comes to mind. Givw this one a try for sure! I don''t wanna get ahead of myself because it is still very, very new, but it shows a ton of promise.

Launch was largely uncomplicated, the bugs are few/far between, and the gameplay is seriously enjoyable.I really hope that Blizzard keeps this up because it feels like a return to form.

Leveling is boring, endgame is non-existent, honestly i expected better after Shadowland.

Blizzard need a new talent, new Rob Pardo or new Ghostcrawler, your game is starting to become a shadow of its former self. We went from an MMO about war to something more childish than Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

I want to update in saying that none of my opinions are related to anything regarding lgbtqia. My opinions are strictly about the quality of the game and my thoughts on why they do things Blizzard does. I don’t care what character is gay, bi, trans, inclusion is always appreciated for everyone to see characters they can relate to. What I do not condone is a lackluster game coupled with what feels like very minimal effort throughout the alpha/beta to solve problems during the testing phase.

    - Alt friendly (so far)

    - Dragon riding is incredible convinient

    - Lots of cosmetics

    - Not a billion currencies

    - Brought the fun back into WoW (so far)

    - It's actually Warcraft and not whatever fanfiction was Shadowlands

    - The talent trees are amazing for most classes

    - The Dragon Isles feel and look great

    - Professions were updated, with cute showable gear

    - The lore is pretty decent too despite a few hiccups (so far)

    - Causes boomers to seethe when they see 1 gay couple (pretending anyone reads questtexts)

    - Not made by Jeff Hamilton who left Blizzard and suddenly it's 100% more fun

    - The dragon isles are a really charming and fun place to be in

    - The expansion seems to be focused on fun, not on "wasting as much time as possible"

    Negatives:

    - Dragon riding is an annoying motion sickness enducing minigame

    - The new race is locked into 1 class despite the community asking for less restrictions and Blizzard even gave in by making rogue, priest and mages available for all races

    - The new race is also in both forms incredibly ugly and in the dragon form you can't transmog armor

    - Night elf shamans among the primalists.... What? We can't even play those and night elves are not known to be very shamanistic so I am very confused. I could let vulpera being among them slide, but night elves? Why?

    - The game is still suffering from restrictions over all. All across the dragon isles you will meet NPCs that can mix their armor types or do stuff that we players can't. Dracthyr NPCs being able to wear a hat? Check. Vulpera mage apprentices being able to wear the witch hat from a seasonal event that we players can only wear then? Check. A blood elf with a two hander sword wearing a mix of class specific PvP hunter and paladin sets that is a mage? Check. NPcs can be classes that we players can't be? Check. We can't we mixmatch sets? Is this game made for the NPCs and we players are just a sideshow or what?

    - Steve Danuser is still in charge for the lore

    - Most of the sets are the most ugliest sets I have ever seen - If you're not on the Dragon Isles the game shows how outdated it has become, the old world still has textures from 2006 - Customisations are laughable and not evenly distributed across the races - The dragon isles are neat, but over all the game has still outdated zones everywhere outside of that and it's also suffering from the "no fun allowed" approach - Very expensive With everything being said... I would give it a solid 8 out of 10 so far. If you ignore that the game is outside of the dragon isles a huge ugly patch rug, then you can absolutely enjoy DF. If you plan to play any content outside of DF then you will notice the flaws incredibly quickly. I recommend playing it. Didn't had this much fun in this game since Legion.

A mediocre expansion at best, a rather underdeveloped game at worst.

Things I like: The animations of Evoker. Awesome looking attacks and a funny dance. The new zone. Very beautiful. The evoker gets at least for wow standards a bit more customisations. Dragon riding, because it means we can fly right away without grinding. No dense faction war so far. Less chores. Talent trees.

    Murloc quest.

    Things I don't like:
Evoker is just a reskin and not a new model, can only be one class, it can only be a male blood elf and a female human in visage form. Unlike all the other dragons, who can be whatever race they want to be.
Rest of Azeroth, at least all zones before wod look hideous with such outdated visuals.
All races still have almost no customisation options. Seriously, it is 2022. What we get here is laughable. It is also rather toxic to give some races almost no options at all, while others get in comparision a lot more.
Still racial segregation like other mentioned aswell. 2022 and still racism in wow. Sorry, but that is just a no go. Let me finally have my dark iron in the Horde. Not a fan of a racist faction system at all. Never was. All races need to start neutral.
I still miss player housing in this mmo. Again, it is 2022 and no player housing...

    Anyway, back to the review.

No systems that force you to log in each day to keep up. Player power is almost entirely disconnected from rep and other grinds, it's mostly cosmetic with a bit of gear (can get that other ways).

Storyline is the only let-down so far. It has it's good moments, and even a few very good moments, but it is largely repetitive and a bit forgettable.

Class balance is fantastic, all specs are viable for casual players and most still are for above average players.

Dragonriding is amazing. Once you flesh out the talent tree a little (doesn't take long) it becomes a very fun and very fast way to get around, which you wouldn't normally see at the beginning of an expac.

Blizzard has done very well *so far* with this new expac, excited to see where it goes over the next couple years. I'm very much into m+ so will be interesting to see how gearing goes now that +15s don't award highest ilvl from the vault.

I'd like to give my take on some of the things, which people discuss here.

Beginning with the story... well, it is not easy to continue on the shattered ground the former expansions left us with. The story in those expansions were painfully bad. So I would at least say that Dragonflight is a bit more down to earth and that is a good thing.
The story isn't really amazing, but it goes in a better direction now.
I do understand the frustration however regarding all the loose ends in Azeroth. Especially all the losses of the Alliance, with Aszhara, Ashenvale, darkshore and stormgarde, Theramore, Gilneas and Teldrassil. Some of these zones are waiting for over a decade to get updated and are still shown in their demolished state.
Yes, that is indeed sad and it takes too long, I agree. However I think there is at least some small hope now for a new tree in Dragonflight. Would be nice to get all those zones updated, yes, but at least there is hope.

I think that brings me to the next point of criticism.
The visuals should be upgraded, yes. Honestly I don't know what to add here. For the money we pay for the game there should be higher standards. Don't really think anyone would disagree on that.

The drakthyr aren't that innovative, true. Only one class and a familiar story if you played demon hunters back in Legion. However the way this race uses it's wings and tail is in my opinion really nicely done. Personlly I have fun with that race.

Racism and lgbtq, probably the most controversial part.
Yes, it is true, that there are no genders anymore, if you create a character. However body 1 and 2 still have the same features as male and female and personlly I find the lgbtq stuff in the game not as on the nose as it is here described. So even if you don't like it, you don't see it everywhere like some people claim.
Racial segregation is there with the factions Alliance and Horde and how their races are treated, true. By definition that is probably a form of racism. I can't play a Draenei for example and stay Horde and in my opinion yes, that is a very outdated mindset and I too wish, that those kind of restrictions are removed as soon as possible. It would give players so much more freedom in the game.

With the island for new characters there isn't even a starter zone needed for all the races. They could get some tents or a building or a ship... something like that in the main hubs and are ready to go. Just change some voice lines and each faction gets all races. Would be pretty amazing.

    Dragonriding and Guild Wars II.
I can't really comment on that since I've never played guild wars. So I don't know, if the animations are copied. Personlly I had fun with dragon riding in wow though. Could be better, but it is still fun.

    - Gearing system for pvp finally doesn’t include any pve related activity and provides even ground for participants - only skill matters;
    - Revamped professions system is deep and keeps you interested, especially because crafted gear is a viable option for gearing in pve and pvp content. - Design of locations is as good as always, but being back to Azeroth after SL feels cozy.
    - Auction house in the main city on Dragon islands - what a time to be alive.

    Cons:
    - Modern day agenda is something this game could do fine without, though it’s not to intrusive beside that body type 1 and body type 2.
    - Small technical problems related to expansion launch, but it’s totally solvable.

I saw a review bombing happening to this product and had to register to write my first review because I just think it’s quite unfair to review bomb this game. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is somehow a breath of fresh air and a celebration of classic design principles in equal measure. The return to more dynamic, old-school talent trees enhances the class fantasy with a seasoning of new abilities across the board. At the same time, the retreat of pressuring, artificial power-gating systems promotes a more healthy gameplay loop. The game is also gorgeous, with a more promising storyline, elevated cinematic delivery mechanics, and deeper core systems which make for one of WoW's best expansions in years.

I appreciate the new interface (it needs getting used to though) and talent system (those dilemmas!), as well as changes to crafting that raise its importance. I enjoyed dragonriding a lot and found quests to be engaging, but was disappointed by dull dungeons and repetitive endgame content. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is a pretty safe expansion and I expected a bit more from it, but I do feel it has a huge potential that could be fulfilled in the near future.
